A few weeks ago I explained the marauders fandom to my mum (not in super detail but the basics) and I was talking to her a bit about fanfiction.

Tonight she comes into my room and tells me about how she and her 2 friends used to write fanfiction together on a forum and that they wrote an insanely long one that her friend has a record of it.

Now about 14-16 years later I write fanfiction of my own ,like mother like daughter I guess.
