Link is a Hylian of few words, he wouldn’t dare inconvenience Sidon with his feelings for him. Especially not in the middle of a nationwide disaster. Besides… Sidon is already engaged to someone else.
Sidon is a Zora of too many words, but he wouldn’t dare let Link know his true feelings for him. Besides… it wouldn’t be fair to Link, because Sidon is engaged to someone else.
IF YOU ARE READING MY OTHER SIDLINK COMICS THERE IS NO ORDER IM SORRY IM JUST MAKING THEM UP AS I GO

can I ask for a Sidon x reader where the reader is from our world and still has a phone? Just something cute about reader teaching Sidon how a phone works and maybe Sidon comforting reader when she feels homesick
So this is the first time I've ever made a request so if it's stupid please ignore
What an interesting idea! I'd love to write this! I'll be writing in a headcanon format! This one is mainly just silly, I hope it's okay! ^^
The Power of Technology - Sidon X Reader
Tumblr media
Sidon is immediately fascinated when you show him your weird glowing brick that looks like a sheikah slate, or how else would he put it... a Purah Pad? He knows that Link has one too. You try to explain that it is a "phone" and only you have one. Sidon just goes along with it because he has no idea how new technology works, but he'll try to understand!
He's amazed how you have everything by the power of your finger tip on such a small device. Despite not having any service or internet in their world, Sidon thinks that your phone is something out of a sci-fi child story.
When your phone dies for the first time and he learns that they need to be charged by electricity, he suggests that you leave your phone outside during a thunderstorm so it could "charge".
Once Sidon learns how to use your phone, the man immediately loves watching silly videos you had saved on your phone before you came to Hyrule. He will 100% watch the same video on loop for hours on end.
"Wow! Such wonderful art! It's like real life!" Sidon would exclaim looking in your camera roll. You would have to explain that these are "photos" not drawings. Sidon didn't believe you at first.
Oh... You poor thing... Now that Sidon has discovered the magic of the camera on your phone, he will sneak your phone and take hundreds of pictures, half of them being himself with his silly cheeky smile. You'll wake up to a message on your phone about your storage being "full", you'll know why.
You'll both scroll through your phone's camera roll together. Sidon will see ones of you back in your world and will have so many questions. Looking back on these photos will make you emotional, as much as you love Hyrule and Sidon, you do get homesick.
When you're homesick, Sidon will grab your phone out of your hand and take a silly picture of himself and change your wallpaper to himself. "Look my love! You can now look at me whenever you open your phone!" He would say with a silly grin. The photo would be taken at the worst angle, yet it would make you laugh, making you feel better.
You have a mix of different songs saved on your phone but Sidon had decided that he liked a certain band the most. In the early hours of the morning, you'll hear him softly sing to himself "Weeeee are the champions!!" Low and Behold... The band was Queen.
He 100% listens to the same song on loop, and he'll NEVER get tired of that song. "It's a catchy song! How could you NOT want to sing it?"
When you are on your phone at night, he's shocked at just how bright it is. "What is that thing even made of??"
Both of you will cuddle at night sometimes watching a movie or two. You only have a few, Sidon doesn't mind rewatching. He finds it amazing how you can record life on it and then watch it on such a tiny screen.

A Trip to the Lake - Sidon x Reader
Tumblr media
“if possible, and as silly as you want to make it: imagines where reader is link’s companion fairy (like navi). all i can imagine is sidon looking like he's talking to thin air, and everyone is confused, but he lifts up one of his little fin-flap thingies and it turns out you were sitting on his shoulder the whole time” - anon
this was my very first request on this page, and i’m so happy to have FINALLY finished it! when first reading it, it reminded me of that episode from the office where jim and pam are talking on the world’s smallest bluetooth, and jim pranks dwight into thinking he’s talking to himself. so, needless to say that i used some dialogue and inspo from that. (s5 ep7) this one took me a while, and i DEFINITELY need to brush up on writing lol
enjoy :)
(p.s.: i know totk has definitely changed they way we’ve expected hyrule to be rebuilt, so i’m just gonna pretend that we haven’t seen anything yet and keep everything normal-ish for this little piece.)
y/n - your name
(requests are open!)
Toto Lake is always beautiful this time of year. But you can’t see it, anyway. All you can see is the inside of Sidon’s ear fin. You’ve sat on his shoulder the whole trip up, and how you’ve managed to stay on, and hidden, is a mystery to the both of you. You're all sat on the bank side, the other three looking out into the waters. You? All you can see is a deep scarlett fin.
Zelda and Link decided to join the two of you. You don't seem to know that they think you're not there, yet. You try to make conversation, but the sound of your voice is muffled by Sidon's ear fin. Zelda is going on and on about how beautiful Castletown is looking after the restoration of most of the buildings and fountains, as well as how much foliage has grown since the malice has disappeared. Link pulls out the Sheikah Slate and shows Sidon a photo. You manage to catch a quick glimpse before he puts it away.
“Wow!” Sidon says. “Castletown is really coming together.”
Zelda smiles. “I can’t wait to see how it will look when everything’s finished! With so many homes and businesses rebuilt, hopefully it will be as lively as it was before the Calamity.”
You sit quietly, listening to their conversation. You’ve caught on by this point, and you really want to make it worth while.
“Hey,” you whisper. “what sounds good for dinner?”
Sidon thinks for a moment. “I really like the idea of hearty salmon for tonight. How does that sound to you?”
Zelda and Link both give him a look of confusion.
“Well,” Zelda begins, “that was extremely out of context, but I do love hearty salmon.”
Link nods in agreement.
Sidon turns to Zelda. “What do you mean?”
“Hearty salmon.” she continues. “Didn't you ask if it sounded good?”
“Yes, but--”
“Are you alright, Sidon?” Zelda stands up and places her hand on Sidon’s forehead. “You feel a little cold.”
“I mean…” Sidon watches her sit back down. “that could be because of the contrast of Zora and Hylian body temperatures.”
“Very true.”
Everyone sat in silence for a bit. Zelda was wading in the shallow part of the lake, and Link was skipping pebbles across the water.
You know what would be great?” Sidon asked.
“Hmm.”
“If we had some bright-eyed crab with our salmon."
Zelda and Link once again give him that look.
“Huh?” Zelda stands up and walks over to him.
“What?”
Zelda sighs. “Are you sure you’re feeling well?”
“Yes, Princess.” Sidon speaks a little more sternly. “I’m feeling perfectly normal.”
Link snickers at the two of them.
“I’m being serious!” She continues on. “You’ve not been your normal self today, Sidon. You’ve been talking to thin air, laughing over nothing, and going on about dinner plans we didn’t even make the whole time we’ve been here. What’s going on?”
“I’m talking to y/n.”
“Y/n’s not here, Sidon!”
Sidon raises an eyebrow at her. “What are you talking about? I have been ta— ”
“Wait, shut up.”
“I’m sorry?”
Zelda puts a finger to her lips and whispers. “Shh. Do you hear that?”
Sidon’s eyes widen. “Hear what?”
“Breathing… Is that you?”
“Well, I am breathing, yes.”
Zelda looks around. “Well, stop. Hold your breath.” She walks over to the other side of Sidon. “I still hear it… Who’s there? Link?!” She turns to look at the boy in blue.
OH!!!” Sidon raises up his ear fin, and there you are, sitting on his shoulder.
“Hi!” You wave at Zelda.
Link is absolutely rolling with laughter.
Zelda’s face turns bright red in humiliation. “I—”
Sidon interrupts. “I seriously forgot you couldn’t see y/n! I’m so sorry for worrying you!”
Zelda sits back down yet again, her face buried in her hands from embarrassment.
“You have to admit though,” You jump off Sidon’s boulder and walk over to her. “that was the funniest hour and a half you’ve had in a long time.”
Zelda lifts her head. “Yeah, you’re right.”
“And besides,” you add. “you’re always invited to dinner!”

not me crying over the wind temple and tulin and revali all in one go love this for me 🫠
(more crying under the cut / includes botw/totk/aoc spoilers)
Tumblr media
I just watched the clip of revali and tulin in aoc and idk man I just love it so much and I cried because like…. wow I had to take a moment and think about the fact that tulin is not only the new wind sage but he’s REVALI’S SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR
don’t get me wrong I do love teba as well and he was p much the champion in botw. but tulin literally told revali in aoc that he wanted to be just like him and one day master the great eagle bow and idk maybe bc I JUST watched teba pass the great eagle bow down to tulin but that really took me out and my eyes started to water jahsjsjssjsjdhdh
and revali like literally not being his usual asshole self and melting at how soft and cute and sweet tulin is and he was like “yk one day you could end up just like me, who knows” AND THE EXCITED LITTLE SOUNDS TULIN MADE TO TEBA ABOUT HIS HERO ENCOURAGING HIM 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
AND TULIN EVEN TRIED TO IMITATE REVALI AND HIS COOL DEMEANOR I AM IN SHAMBLES 🫠🫠 and it made revali LAUGH
revali, the very prideful, very arrogant, very cocky revali LAUGHED AND SMILED 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭😭 THOSE ARE MY BABIESSSSSSS (revali having a soft spot for tulin is my new favorite thing)
like idk I’m glad the new sage was tulin and not teba. like sidon being the new water sage makes sense, I’m glad they didn’t introduce another zora or anything but besides sidon revali was my favorite and I didn’t learn about tulin till totk BUT tulin has this youthful innocence and endearing confidence that just makes me feel like I’ve known him forever (when I tell you his little intro cutscene in totk made me tear up… it’s so pure and so wholesome 🥹)
tulin just has this little shounen protagonist energy and I love it so (it fits with his va being the voice of killua who —while I’ve never watched hxh— I know is a shounen protagonist) and he just has such a big heart and just thinking about how he now holds revali’s bow just got to me man
like……….
revali would be so proud of tulin if he could see him now, and that made me tear up. I love these two so much, other than sidon these two are my absolute favorites and thinking about the connection they got to have for those few moments in aoc got to me
also this all came up bc I was listening to colgera’s theme and how dragon roost, molgera, rito village AND the vibe of revali’s theme were all mixed in there. truly legendary it’ll be an iconic theme in the future I know it
man wind temple got hands…. video games man 🫠🥹

(Forward real quick into Chain era Hyrule)
Sage keeps calling Sweetpea 'Fugus' because he's like a 'goddess damn mushroom that wont die'. Sweetpea is all "That's the nicest thing you've ever said about me! I love you too!"
(And to be perfectly honest, the whole Sage is approachable thing is kinda his own fault since Sweetpea loves kids and they sometimes get Sage and Sweetpea confused and Sage just goes with it. Cause ya know, they're kids. Aaliyah is giving him so much shit and Tia's just happy he's talking to someone.)
Sweetpea is the only version of that Link that isn't attracted to Aaliyah and the Triplets are like "You have terrible taste." (Instead he has a thing going on with Sidon and Yona. Sage doesn't want to know the details and if Sweetpea keeps telling him said details, Tia is about to be down a family member. Sweetpea realises his other counterparts don't have the same tastes as him and promptly chooses Chaos :D )
He thinks the way Wild and Cal are immediately gone on Aaliyah is hysterical but also is like lowkey running an intervention that's 68% effective so they don't have two dead bodies on their hands.
Of course when he spots a chain member flirting with his princess, Sweetpea is like "The Fuck you are :)" and is setting the Wolves on them while he distracts Tia.
(I feel like one of the older Chain is the way to go. Either Warriors, Twilight or First if we include him. Cause the idea of one of them being harassed by the Menaces all while Tia is mostly oblivious is funny. He can hold his own but he might need back up. Thank gods Wild is helping, even if its for his own benefit.)
Sage calling Sweetpea Fungus (I assume that's what you meant?) and Sweetpea just being like '<3 I knew you'd soften eventually brother!' and Sage is setting him on fire is so funny to me like-
Sweetpea is the brother that's all 'Friends! Love! Flowers!' and Sage is the one that barks.
(Okay, but like Sage is good with kids. He just doesn't have the patience for the adults that come with them. They all love the twins but the adults are like..."are you sure?' It's both heartwarming and the funniest thing ever. Bc on one hand, this man has literally slaughtered monster camps single-handedly. On another, he lets the village children braid his hair, flowers and all.)
(Sweetpea is counting down the days until he can call himself an uncle, man. Whether it's Tia finally finding someone or Aaliyah deciding its time to settle down. Bc he is going for the title of best uncle ever. It will be his.)
Sweetpea is the only one seeing Aaliyah for who she really is lmao. The triplets calling his taste terrible is actually so hilarious. Like they're just drooling over her while she chops logs and Sweetpea is gagging in the corner. He's seen her eat dirt before. He knows what she's like. ALSO Sweetpea being an oversharer when it comes to Sidon and Yona is so funny. Sage has no patience for it, but he's secretly the softest brother to sweetpea, so he 'listens'. But if he has to hear one more bit about Zora anatomy he's blowing up the place.
Sweetpea is the most annoying big brother when it comes to Aaliyah. Those two are throwing down every chance they get.
He's running distractions and lowkey foiling all of Sage's murders attempts. Wild and Cal owe him such a big thank you. And they don't even know it.
Imagine him spotting it and he just nudges the two feral beasts like 'Hey, someone is hitting on big sister-' and watches as they go absolute feral beast. like just D:< biting and tackling.
(Okay hear me out. All of them. So now it's three on three. Wars vs. Sweetpea, knight v knight. Twilight vs. Sage. Successor V Predecessor. First vs Aaliyah. The most composed knight in the timeline yet v an undead feral creature who was never meant to play a big of a part as she does who now has this super powerful rock on her side. Sweetpea may just look past Wild's obvious attempt on getting close to his SIL for the extra help.)

Call of the Depths
Call of the Depths
by Lynxrider
Link froze, instinct prickling at the back of his neck and making his damp hair stand on end. At first, he couldn't determine what had caught his attention, listening intently for the sounds of scuffling feet, the hiss of wings, or a malicious cry in the absence of his sight. But there was nothing but the burbling of dark water and the persistent thrum heavy on the air.
Link blinked and realized abruptly what he had been missing when two faint glowing pinpricks, nearly hidden beneath the flickering reflection of the master sword against the water, blinked back.
“Sidon?” Link stuttered in disbelief as it surfaced, almost unintelligible in his shock. Had the prince somehow fallen down here with him? Had he been a part of a search party?
But before Link could relax, a massive clawed hand latched upon the shore, close enough for him to realize that its skin was far from the familiar red and it was rising, rising, rising above him, stealing his breath with a fresh wash of alarm. That. Was not Sidon.

with totk coming out soon (omg im so excited!), i was thinking maybe you could do a short with sidon and his sweetheart right before his coronation? i think it would be super interesting and it could be touching, especially depending on the angle of their relationship youd want to do, be it one th kingdom is aware of or something thats had to be hidden.
either way, i could see this as something sidon would be super stressed about and i think our beloved zora deserves some reassurance and comfort in his times of need as well.
TIA <3
~ fem pronouns are preferred, not required ~
The sconces in the throne room provide the only light at night. Sidon stands with his back to you, contemplating the chair where his father once sat. You think he doesn't know you're there, and you haven't the heart to interrupt him. Is he praying? Meditating? Whatever the case may be, he has not anticipated a disturbance or interruption; he didn't bother to bolt the doors. You are about to turn and go when he says, "Stay."
You take a few tentative steps toward him, your feet barely making a sound on the hard marble floor.
"Tomorrow, I will say the oaths and become King of the Zora," he tells you, and you nod. He knows he does not need to inform you; it is almost as though he is trying to acknowledge the reality and heaviness of it for himself. "I should be thinking about my people. My realm," he continues. "But all I can think of is vengeance for my father. All I can think of is tearing them apart, those demons that came for him in the night . . ."
"There was nothing you could have done, my love," you say softly. "But I do wish you would keep your guards close by you at all times. They could try to come for you, too."
"Let them," he almost snarls, his fangs bared. A shadow passes over half his face as he turns to look at you. "I would delight in the chance to tear them apart. And yet . . . a sense for wisdom tells me that this is not how a king-to-be should go into his coronation. I . . . underneath it all, Y/N, I confess I am afraid. Fighting and being a warrior is the only thing I truly know. What one knows does not take courage, so I do not fear any attackers. I don't even fear dying in battle. It is something I have considered many times. It came close to happening on several occasions. If not for our brilliant healers, I think I would now be joined with Father and Mipha. A thought I find sweet, except for leaving you, of course.
"It is much more frightening to face what I don't know, and that is the world without my father. I've always had him to counsel me in my decisions. If I acted, it was to aid him. He always cautioned me that I should take my duties more seriously, to see fighting as less of a sport. And I never listened to him as I should have."
"You remember his words now," you assure him, "so you did listen." You close the distance between the two of you and take him by his hands, which are surprisingly cold. "If they were things that could have been fought off, your father would still sit here now. My prince - my king - if they come for you, your life can be over as quickly as your father's. I beg you, please try to stay safe. For my sake, at least, if not your own."
His yellow eyes and crown glimmer by the faint firelight as he looks down at you. "My Y/N." He pulls you closer. "You have always tried to take care of me. You have loved me well."
"I still love you." You feel choked, jarred by his choice of words.
"I know." He looks away. "I will be expected to marry, eventually."
You nod again, having expected this. A part of you always hoped. But you can see he wants to follow his expected role and duties as exactly as possible. He can't be your prince forever; even so, the thought brings a tear to your eye, which you try to blink away before he can see.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it," he says, pressing a kiss into your hair. "I used to think maybe I could change my people. Make them more accepting. Maybe it was just the dream of a prince, but I am still willing to try." He turns to examine the Zora crests along the walls of the room, shapes and symbols of the previous rulers of the realm. "I used to think getting along without Mipha would be the hardest thing I would ever have to do. How foolish I feel, now. She should be alive. She should be Queen. I'll never be able to do this as well as she would have."
For one so capable, he always doubts himself. You wish you could hold up a mirror that would show him how others see him. You feel that your words of reassurance would only fall on deaf ears yet again, so you hold out your hand to him. "You need some rest. All will feel better in the morning."
He seems to see the sense in that and slowly takes your hand again, allowing you to lead him from the throne room to his own chambers. There is no danger of being seen by anyone that matters, as late as it is. You watch him as he settles into his pool for sleep. He keeps a regular bed for you in his room, but you don't stay unless he invites you.
As you press a kiss to his face, he seems to already be asleep, so you turn to leave the room.
You almost reach the door when he says again, "Stay."

A Champion's Love: Chapter 26
Tumblr media
Chapter 26: The Rito Champion Word Count: 4666 CW: Blood, injury, animal death
Want all the chapters? -> Masterlist
~~~ <> ~~~
“Wait, really?” you gasp, “what made you change your mind?”
Teba smiles and looks down at his son, fondly patting the little Rito on the head, “you can thank my son. He can be quite persuasive when he wants to be.”
Tulin grins at you.
“As you know, there’s nothing I won’t do for my family,” Teba continues, “that’s why I was so hesitant. If something happened to me, well, I’m sure you understand how difficult that would make things, champion.”
You nod, listening intently to his words.
“But I don’t doubt my skills as a warrior. I do believe that I’m capable,” he explains, “however, I feared what would occur if the mission failed. I must admit, I was doubting the capabilities of yourself and the princess. After speaking with my son, though, he has thoroughly convinced me that I can put my faith in all of you.”
“Of course you can, dad!” Tulin speaks up, “the champion is so cool and strong! So is that prince!”
Teba chuckles, “yes, my son would not stop talking about the two of you when he returned home last night. He’s taken quite a liking to you all.”
You were beaming, both from the praise but also due to the fact that Teba had agreed to the trials.
“This is great,” you grin, “let me go get Princess Zelda and Prince Sidon, we can plan to find the pedestal and start your quest.”
As fast as your feet will carry you, you bound down the steps of the village and run back to the inn. Lucky for you, the other two that make up your trio are slowly waking up.
“Zelda!” you greet her cheerily.
The princess blearily smiles at you, rubbing away the sleep in her eyes, “good morning, _____. You’re awfully chipper.”
“Teba has agreed to be a pilot,” you say with a wide smile.
“What?” she and Sidon reply, almost in unison.
You grin at the, “yeah, I know right?”
Sidon stands, adjusting his cravat as he’d been in the middle of putting on all of his adornments, “what caused him to have a change of heart so soon?”
“His son, apparently,” you answer with a small laugh, “after we told him and the other kids all those stories last night, he went home and told his dad about how we’re strong and trustworthy warriors.”
Zelda giggles, “you must have made quite an impression on him.”
“Seems so,” you reply, “I let him know that I’d get the two of you and we’d plan to head over to the pedestal.”
The princess nods, picking up the Sheikah Slate, “well no need to waste anymore daylight. Let’s head out.”
As a group Zelda, Sidon, Teba, and yourself reconvene to chart a course to the pedestal. The glowing point on the map shows that it is located on the Cuho Mountain, south of Rito Village. Luckily the trek to get there is not nearly as long as the one to the Gerudo pedestal had been.
It was decided that you’d return to the Rito Stable and ride your horses along the road, then once arriving at the base of the mountain you’d hike upward. Teba would fly alongside you, not needing a steed due to his ability of flight.
With Sidon’s tall height he’s able to easily assist you and the princess in climbing the sheer cliff faces. When you arrive at the final location, you feel his hand linger on your lower back. It makes you somewhat flustered, and you’re glad neither of your other companions noticed.
As you approach the pedestal you’re once again greeted by a familiar face. Kass happily plays his accordion, and the two Rito greet each other. You assume they must be friendly, considering their children like to play together.
“Ah, we meet again!” the blue Rito chuckles happily, bowing his head in respect, “As expected, there’s a pedestal here as well, in Medoh’s shadow. Another monument mentioned in my teacher’s unfinished song. The song my teacher left behind… there’s a verse about the trials that Champion Revali overcame. Allow me to sing it for you.”
His feathers delicately press the buttons of his instrument as he sings his tune, “Wind’s ally soars the land of cloud, Medoh’s Champion, swift and proud. The hero’s power shall grow, seek trials monuments show. One, shoot the flame dragon’s horn. Two, race down a peak rings adorn. Three, shoot four targets to win. Champion, the trials begin!”
“Thank you for your help once again, Kass,” the princess says with a smile once he concludes his song.
Sidon turns to you, perplexed, “shoot the flame dragon’s horn? Is this perhaps a metaphor of some kind?”
You shake your head, “no, it’s probably about Dinraal.”
Teba looks back at you as well, “Dinraal? What’s that?”
“... the flame dragon?” you answer, as if it's obvious.
“You do not mean an actual dragon, do you?” the prince replies.
“No, no, it is an actual dragon,” you say with a laugh, “you guys haven’t seen them before?”
Both the Rito and the Zora shake their heads.
You’d met the dragon before. In fact, you’d met all three of them. Farosh, Naydra, and Dinraal respectively. You’d plucked a scale from each to offer at the springs of the three goddesses.
So you explain this to them, “yeah, there’s three dragons actually, though they tend to stay away from highly populated areas so they go unseen by most people. Dinraal is said to be a spirit of fire who took the form of a dragon, and in old legends would protect the Spring of Courage. There’s also Farosh, a spirit of lightning, and Naydra, a spirit of ice.”
The princess interjects, “yes, though it’s interesting that you’ve only ever seen three. In my studies of the old texts of the royal family, it says that there was a fourth.”
You tilt your head to the side curiously, “a fourth?”
“Yes,” she replies with a thoughtful nod, “though there’s no record of it in more recent history. But it was to be a different element, and was referred to as a dragon of light.”
You hum in response, “huh. Interesting. A light dragon.”
“All this discussion of dragons is making me quite eager to see my first,” Sidon says with a laugh, “when shall we go looking for it?”
Teba nods, “yes, champion since you’ve seen these dragons before, do you know of their routes?”
A smile graces your lips, “as a matter of fact, I do. I’ve got a good idea of where we could find Dinraal.”
You’d returned to your horses and journeyed east. The closest place you could think of that would give you a close up view of the dragon would be in Tanagar Canyon. Unfortunately, to get there you’d have to momentarily ride through the Tabantha Hills, where the temperatures significantly dropped.
Fortunately, the prince surprised you by revealing that he’d purchased spicy elixirs at the stable from Beedle. These would have to do until you could get him Snowquill armor.
Once you were in the colder region Teba, who was flying up above, alerted you to the fact that he could see another Rito camped out in the canyon. You leave your horses, tying their reins to some trees, before proceeding to climb down to the nearest lip of rocks.
A Rito guard stood beside a campfire, overlooking the vast abyss that was the canyon. He perks up and turns to look at your group as you approach him.
“Mazli,” Teba says, “are you waiting for something here?”
Mazli, a brown Rito, nods his head, “yes, there was a sighting last night of something red and fiery here in the canyon. Kaneli sent me to investigate.”
“That sounds like Dinraal, alright,” you mumble, “what time was the sighting at?”
“The Hylian who reported it at the stable said it was around one o’clock,” the guard replies.
You turn your gaze up to the sky. It’s quite early in the evening, the sun is still rather high. You puff out some air and cross your arms, “well. All we can do is wait.”
And wait you do.
You spent the next few hours laying on the ground beside the campfire. As a group you attempt to pass the time with random discussions. Teba and Sidon talk to each other about their careers as warriors and the battles they’ve fought. Zelda tells you about the history of the Hebra region, and how the large hole in the side of Hebra Peak was the result of a misfire when Revali was first training to be the champion.
“I see that some of the Rito warriors wield spears. If you are in the air, in flight, how could one still use a spear to battle?” the prince had curiously asked.
Teba chuckles as he answers, “it sounds funny, but it’s actually with our feet. It’s the same way that I can shoot my bow while flying.”
Sidon nods, “how fascinating.”
You smile as you listen to the two men speak. You’re happy to see the prince so curious. If you could take him all across Hyrule so he can learn, you’d be more than happy to.
At some point in the evening around when the sun was setting both Teba and Mazli had flown back to Rito Village. They returned with dinner for the group to eat, as there were still a few hours to wait. You bite into a nutcake as you sit on the edge of the cliff, gazing down into the canyon.
You hear footsteps beside you and glance up. Sidon gives a bright smile before sitting beside you. Your legs are dangling off of the rock.
“What are you looking at, darling?” he asks curiously.
You respond with a shrug, “nothing really, just the canyon. I assume you’ve never been down there?”
The prince shakes his head.
“I figured,” you say with a smile. You point with your free hand, “really, it’s mostly just rock down there. I think a long, long time ago there was a river that had carved out all the rock, but it’s all dried up by now. If you were to walk along the bottom of the canyon, though, you would actually find an ancient temple northeast of here.”
“Really?” Sidon asks with a gasp, “have you ever been, little one?”
You nod, finishing off your dessert, “I did, once. It was full of guardians, making it a bit of a dangerous venture. At the end of the temple was this absolutely massive goddess statue. I don’t know what the temple was originally used for. Maybe Zelda does, if there’s something about it in the royal archives. It’s an interesting place, but it’s old and unkempt, practically falling apart.”
The prince laughs softly, and leans back. You see his gaze flicker across the sky, admiring the stars that are beginning to shine now that the sun has set.
He speaks softly, “I must admit… I envy you from time to time, my darling.”
Your brow furrows, “why would you envy me?”
“You have seen so much of this land, quite literally you’ve been to all four corners. I have only ever read about these locations on paper, but you have been able to see them with your own eyes. To learn about them. To experience them. And then, to teach me about them,” he explains with a fond expression, “as you know I was never allowed to travel much, especially after the fate that befell my sister. I’m fairly certain the only reason my father encouraged me to leave was because he knew I would be with you, a competent and talented warrior.”
His hand is on the ground beside your own. You inch over and interlock your fingers with his.
“How about this,” you say, looking up at the sky as well, “after we finish all of this business with the trials and have the champion ceremony, why don’t you and I travel for a bit? Just the two of us?”
He turns his head to gaze down at you, “truly?”
You nod, a grin on your face, “mhmm, truly. With the king’s permission, of course. I’ll take you to all my favorite places. The Korok Forest, the jungle in Faron, I can show you the ancient tech laboratories, we can visit each of the goddess springs-”
As you ramble and list off various locations the prince has nothing but adoration in his eyes.
“I look forward to it, little one,” he chuckles softly.
You sit on the edge of the rocks with the prince for some time, but eventually the temperature drops as the moon rises higher. You drag yourself back to the campfire that Teba has been keeping alive. A little ways away Sidon and the princess speak, with Zelda excitedly showing him some notes she had on the Sheikah Slate.
“So,” Teba speaks up, “you and the prince, huh?”
You fluster and laugh, ignoring the blush that dusts your face, “is it that obvious?”
The white Rito chuckles, setting down the poking stick he’d been using to stoke the flames, “I don’t think it could be anymore obvious. It’s in the way you look at each other. How’d that happen, anyway?”
You watch the flames dance as you speak, “I’m not too sure. I suppose it just kind of did. After I woke up in the shrine of resurrection, Zora’s Domain was one of the first places I went to. After that I kept returning, and the two of us kept speaking and writing letters. One thing led to another, and well…”
“That’s sweet. My wife noticed as well, she has an eye for these things,” he says with humor in his voice, “she said that she thinks you make a cute couple.”
A smile plays on your lips, “good to know.”
As it got later into the night it was decided that you would all sleep in shifts. You’d retrieved blankets from the horse saddles and handed them out to the group. You volunteered to take the first shift.
You were sitting by the campfire, keeping an eye on the canyon. Behind you your companions rested, bundled up as cold winds blew through the area. You had the Master Sword in your lap and were passing the time by polishing the metal with some spare cloth.
Time had passed, though how much you weren’t sure. You weren’t going to wake Zelda to bother her for the slate. The moon was ever so slowly inching its way across the dark sky.
You hear a sleepy murmur behind you, “_____?”
You tilt your head to see who it is. Sidon had woken up, leaning on his arms as he looked at you.
“Hello, sleepy head,” you tease him with a smile.
“Would you like to switch so you can rest?” he asks, sitting up.
You shake your head, “no, I’m alright, I’m wide awake actually.”
Despite your insistence he still walks over to you, taking a seat beside you.
“You’re shivering,” he points out.
You hadn’t realized, but he was right. Your tunic and armor weren’t enough to keep you warm, even with the fire in front of you. The prince wraps an arm around you and drapes the blanket over your shoulders.
“Thank you,” you mumble, “but now you don’t have a blanket.”
“I’ll be fine,” he replies, “how long have you been up?”
“Not a clue,” you laugh.
Suddenly there’s a shift in the temperature. The wind is still blowing, but it’s hot. You stand quickly and walk to the edge of the cliff.
A red glow emanates from the canyon. A grin is in your face when you see the source. Dinraal, the fire spirit, gracefully flies between the cliffs. His scales resemble embers of fire, the light fading in and out similarly to burning coals. Along his back are bright red and orange spikes that match the curved horns atop his head. Balls of fire drift around him, dancing in the wind that he creates.
You run back to the campfire and rouse your companions from their sleep. “Teba, here’s your first trial.”
The white Rito is alert and up fast, grabbing his Swallow Bow and walking to the cliff edge. Everyone marvels at the sight of the dragon.
“This thing is huge,” Teba gasps, “is it dangerous?”
“No, not at all, it doesn’t attack. The fire balls hurt, of course, you just have to avoid those. Even after you shoot its horn it won’t attack,” you explain.
“It is absolutely breathtaking,” Sidon says in awe, “and you said that there’s two more?”
You smile as you nod.
“Its horns seem to be glowing even brighter now,” Zelda interjects, “Teba, I think this is your chance.”
“On it,” he replies before spreading his wings and taking off.
You watch as the Rito skillfully soars over the dragon. He dodges between the fire that radiates off of Dinraal, his wings easily catching the currents of the wind and using it to his advantage. With his talons he grasps the Swallow Bow, lodging the arrow in the wood. He does so effortlessly, showing his years of practice and training.
He hesitates as he aims, before taking a breath and letting the arrow loose.
It strikes the horn of the dragon. Dinraal lets out a gentle cry as a shard of his horn breaks off and falls down into the canyon. Teba flies backward, avoiding the body of the fire spirit as it begins to soar higher and higher into the sky. You watch as it ascends into the heavens.
“Will it be alright?” Sidon asks.
You nod, “yes, it doesn’t do them actual harm. They’re protected by the goddesses. Some say that they’re immortal.”
After retrieving the shard of Dinraal’s horn, Teba returns. He holds the fragment in his wings. It radiates a soft red glow. “It’s warm to the touch.”
“That wasn’t there before…” the princess speaks up, pointing across the canyon.
You follow her gaze and realize that to the south a shrine had appeared. To get there would require crossing the canyon. “It must have risen up after you shot the horn,” you say to Teba.
After some discussion you decide on a plan. You’ll borrow the Sheikah Slate from Zelda and use your paraglider to get to the other side of the canyon while Teba flies. Zelda and Sidon will return to Rito Village with the horses and you’ll meet them there after retrieving the token.
“See you soon,” you whisper to the prince before he leaves.
He quickly leans down to press a kiss to your cheek, “I eagerly await your return, my darling.”
When you turn to look back at Teba he has an amused look on his face.
“Not a word out of you,” you say to him in jest, “c’mon, let’s go do that shrine.”
The next two trials go smoothly. Your only complaints are the chilly weather of the Hebra Region.
The next day your group traveled towards Hebra Peak, stocked with plenty of spicy elixirs and warm meals. After a few hours of travels you came across a glowing blue ring, similar to the ones Sidon and Riju had encountered. Teba had been able to swiftly fly through each of the rings, racing down the mountain. You followed closely behind, using your shield as a sled to surf down the snowy slopes. After the shrine Teba had received his second token.
The third trial takes place at the Flight Range north of Rito Village where you’d first met Teba. Luckily, the Rito already knows the details of this trial. He had explained that it was a feat Revali was infamous for among Rito warriors, his ability to strike multiple targets within a matter of seconds without losing any altitude.
At the range Teba once again displayed his mastery with the bow, easily striking each of the glowing blue targets. He was rewarded with the final shrine appearing at the bottom of the range. After going through it with him, the third token was acquired.
Currently, it is evening. You were waiting outside of Teba’s home. The sun was setting in the distance and the sky was a soft orange. He was speaking with his wife and son, explaining what the circumstances of the next few hours would be. It almost made you feel like an undertaker. As if you were sending a man to his demise.
You’d have to climb to the very top of the spire that held the village, up to where the Divine Beast was perched. Your eyes were upturned towards Medoh as you waited.
“What might you be pondering now, little one?” a voice asks.
When you turn your head to the side you see Sidon walking up the stairs.
You shrug your shoulders as you lean against the fence. You lift your hand and flex your fingers as you reply, “dunno. Just nervous.”
“You have nothing to worry about. Teba is skilled, and you can heal any wounds he receives,” the prince replies.
You frown, “what happens if someday I lose Mipha’s Grace? If I can’t access that power anymore?”
“Then we have other ways of healing. Elixirs and medicines,” he retorts, “you already have so much on your shoulders, do not think that you must bear the weight of keeping everyone healthy as well.”
Just as he finishes speaking, Teba steps outside. The Rito has a stern look on his face. He nods his head at you, “I’m ready whenever you are, champion.”
“Then let’s head up,” you reply.
It was agreed that since you’d have to scale such a tall height that Zelda and Sidon would remain behind. You already had the Sheikah Slate with you, hooked securely to your belt. You bid the prince a quick goodbye, and then you scale the rock.
You use a mix of climbing and Revali’s gale to ascend higher. By the time you reach the summit Teba is already standing there, waiting for you.
“Not everyone has the gift of wings, y’know,” you sarcastically toss out as you climb up over the edge.
Before he can respond to your jab, a voice speaks.
“To the one who approaches this Divine Beast… in the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer this trial. In exchange for Medoh’s Emblems… you will be granted the chance to tread through the realm of memories.”
Teba holds out the three tokens in his wing, the glow brightly before disappearing out of his grasp.
“Those who lack determination will find this trial unforgiving. Do not take this place lightly, nor dismiss it as merely a world within your mind. The truth is much deeper than you know.”
The white Rito looks over his shoulder towards you. You give him a nod of assurance.
Like the two pilots before him, he’s surrounded by a glowing ball of light. The light grows smaller and smaller before fluttering away towards the Divine Beast. Now you get to play the waiting game.
You pace back and forth on the rock. You don’t bother approaching Medoh, whenever the final trial is occuring there’s some kind of force that stops anyone from going near. Hours pass, the moon and stars continuing their never ending march across the sky. At some point you’re so bored that you attempt to count the stars- this endeavor quickly fails.
In the village beneath you everyone is asleep. The lights are off, save for two buildings. The inn and Teba’s home. You know Saki is awaiting her husband’s return, and Tulin is probably wide awake as well. You can imagine Sidon and Zelda are likely awake and waiting for you to return too.
Your stomach rumbles as you pace. You’d skipped dinner, not having had an appetite because of how anxious you were. You were regretting not having eaten.
It isn’t until the sun begins to rise that Teba returns.
The golden light returns and floats down to the ground. When it fades it deposits the Rito onto the stone. He stumbles over his feet, clutching his wing to his abdomen. You can see blood soaking through his armor.
“Teba!” you gasp, running to be by his side, “stay with me, you made it.”
He sharply intakes a breath of air as you guide him to sit down. His yellow eyes frantically look around as his chest heaves, still running on adrenaline.
You examine his wounds as quickly as possible. It’s clear he’s been shot in the side, likely by the blight’s beam, as not only is blood seeping out of the wound but all of the skin and fabric around it is burnt and singed. Bile rises in your throat from the smell.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry you had to do that,” you whisper, holding your palm over his side. You don’t care if the blood coats your fingers.
You squeeze your eyes shut as you focus, heart pounding as you will your powers to flow forth. You feel warmth in your palm and let out a shaky sigh as you look down, the blue light of Mipha’s Grace emanating from you.
It quickly works to seal his wounds. The gash in his side closes and the skin heals, his feathers returning to their usual position.
Once you make sure he’s completely healed you sit back and breathe in deeply. The sun is bright as it peeks over the horizon. You bask in its warmth.
Teba coughs as he sits up, still sore from the battle. “... I ran out of arrows,” he mutters once he’s ready to speak, “I had to fend for myself with only a feathered dagger.”
Your brow furrows, “I’m sorry, truly. I… I understand if you change your mind about-”
He shakes his head, quickly silencing you, “don’t apologize. All us champions have to face these hardships.”
You smile. He had said ‘us’.
“Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to go see my wife and son,” he says, laughing through another cough.
“Do you reallyyyy have to go already?”
“Yes, I’m sorry kids,” you laugh.
Currently you were surrounded by the Rito children who looked up at you, Sidon, and Zelda with big pleading eyes. You’d packed all your belongings and were ready to say your goodbyes to the town, with Death Mountain as your next destination.
Clearly, the kids weren’t ready for you to leave.
“I’ll come back someday soon, I promise,” you say, slowly walking backwards to the town entrance.
You’re met by a chorus of cries and complaints.
“We have business of the utmost importance,” Sidon says to the children, “it is highly important warrior business. You wouldn’t want to stop us from being warriors, would you all?”
The kids shake their little feathered heads.
“Then we must be leaving, and you must all promise to be on your best behavior in our stead. Promise?” he replies.
The children nod excitedly.
After saying your goodbyes your trio walks across the suspended bridges and returns to the Rito Stable. Persephone happily greets you as you approach the stalls. You guide her by the reins out to the front of the building, where you see an interesting sight.
A messenger bird has just landed on Sidon’s arm. You don’t recognize it, it’s not Archimedo, but it wears the same silver adornments of the other birds that belong to Zora’s Domain.
You walk up to the prince as he retrieves the letter. You pet the bird's feathers, which are a silky white color, and it chirps happily in response.
Sidon’s eyes skim over the paper. You from when you see the way his eyes widen.
“What happened?” you ask.
The prince blinks as he looks toward you. He stammers before answering.
“Archimedo was found on the steps of the Great Zora Bridge… but he was found dead.”
Hiii! Could I request a Headcannon, scenario, whatever you want—
Of Link, Sidon and Revali having a short and small female (gn if you want too c:) reader? Sorry if it’s a bad idea, but thanks for reading this!! Have a great day/night!! :))
Nah, it’s not a bad idea at all!! I’m short, so I’m absolutely sucker for writing these lol
warnings: none!
-Link-
Protective instincts activate!
Listen, it’s not that he thinks you’re helpless or anything. He knows size has nothing to do with capabilities. But he’s trained his whole life to protect people, and when the person he loves most is so small, it’s hard not to be overprotective
He insists upon getting high things on shelves so you don’t hurt yourself. If he catches you standing on a counter to reach something, he’ll dash over to you and gently help you down
He teases you in a quiet sort of way that only the two of you can really notice
Like if someone says something to Link like, “Oh, your girlfriend is so cute. Look at that lil blush on her face!” he looks down first. Like, straight down where the ants are. And then he looks up at you, a smirk flickering on his eyes as he fakes a moment of surprise realizing “ooohhh you aren’t that far down there, riiiight.”
You have to be flustered in silence because you’re the only one who can notice his subtle teasing :’)
But he doesn’t do it that often since he doesn’t want you to think he dislikes your stature
He thinks you’re cute :) He loves how you fit into his arms so perfectly, the little tip toe dance you do to get a kiss, the way you make unconventional stools and stairs to get tall stuff
It’s endearing to say the least
He especially likes hugs where he can hold you as tight as he wants and rest his head on yours
When you’re visiting new/dangerous places, he’s always hovering over your shoulder, and the sight of him is usually enough to deter any troublemakers
10/10 will scoop you into his arms to rush you away from trouble
And he doesn’t mind at all having to lean down for kisses :)
-Prince Sidon-
Okay so if you’re small for a Hylian imagine how small you are compared to Sidon aaa
You’re itsy bitsy
At the beginning of your relationship, Sidon was actually a bit of self conscious of how large he was compared to you. He didn’t want you to feel intimidated by him or like he might hurt you if he wasn’t careful
You weren’t scared at all though, because you knew Sidon would never hurt a hair on your pretty head. So you actually had to reassure him that you weren’t afraid or anything
He had countless things custom made for you so you didn’t feel out of place in the Zora’s Domain
He’s overprotective as hell :’)
You’re just so tiny! And you Hylians are so fragile! And… he can’t have something happen to you. He just can’t bare seeing you hurt
He keeps you miles away from danger, no matter what. And if you are near danger, he’ll scoop you into his strong arms, press you close to him, and get you out of there as fast as he can
Has already will literally use his body as a shield for you if he must
Even when there’s no danger, he likes having you in his arms. You’re warm and soft, and nothing relaxes him like having you close to him. He’s so, so gentle holding you, hands slowly cupping your cheek or rubbing your back
He takes you swimming often, and you can more than he easily lay on him while he paddles down the river. It’s like having your own little red boat :)
Lets you sit on his shoulder in large crowds so you can actually see
Sometimes he forgets just how small you are compared to him though. So like he’ll tell you that the water isn’t that deep, only to have to choke down a laugh when he can’t even see the top of your head when you touch the bottom
-Revali-
He teases you. A lot
It’s not always direct though. More often he finds way to slide it into a conversation in an under handed sort of way, that by the time you realize he just made fun of your height, the conversation has already moved on
He’s the only one allowed to tease you though. He’ll fight anyone who tries to tease you >:(
He likes being the tall one though, it’s an ego boost
Plus, when he takes you for flights, you’re a much easier load to carry than if you were average height
And if there’s ever danger and you don’t want to leave, he can just drag you to safety if he has to
Revali didn’t realize he was more protective of you until there was actually a situation that forced him to protect you. He did so without hesitation, and even he was surprised by the surge of panic that controlled his ever movement until you were safe in his wings again
He sleeps in a nest like hammock that has so many pillows and blankets in it, that you just get swallowed up in it. Like he has to actually sift through the layers before he finds you
One time, you were joking about “being the tallest” which resulted in you deciding to climb a really tall mountain all by yourself. You were successful, of course, but had to deal with Revali having a mini-heart attack when he heard what’d you done didn’t let you out of his sight for ages after that)
Calls you chickadee — a bird, almost as small as you and almost as loud too
From Where We Stand
Post-Stasis!Kix x f!OC
Tumblr media
Hi there! As some of you know, I've been stuck in the midst of a too-long writing rut. I've been wanting to write this series for a LONG time, and have pretty much the entire first chapter saved in my drafts - had to scroll pretty far to find it since I started it like 6 months ago. ANYWAYS. Once I'm ready to post the first chapter I will create a series ML, complete with this banner and a series summary. Honestly, I'm posting this as motivation for me to actually go through with this. (y'all can hold me accountable lmao).
As for my Post-Order 66 Rex series, I'm going to put that on a little hiatus for a while until I can figure out what I wanna do with this Post-Stasis!Kix series. I will still answer asks regarding Rex Gayiyla & Fam, and if something hits me, I'll work on some things for that. I still have a lot planned for the Gayiyla family, don't you worry! :')
So.
My OC, Ahri, is a member of the Crimson Corsair's pirate crew. They find our poor, beloved Kix frozen in a cryo pod within an old, grounded Separatist ship, and they decide to make the Clone Wars-era soldier a part of their merry crew. I'm planning on making this a slow burn series with some action, angst, clone feels, and other things tbd. I'll have a better series summary when it comes time to post the first chapter.
With that being said, here's a little snippet from the intro scene in first chapter that will be titled "Fool's Gold". (ty to Ro for that big brain <3. Titles/banner/details are subject to change).
Rated: M for language, but the series as a whole will be rated back and forth between M and E as it goes on.
“Hey, come listen to this,” the triangular-headed Arcona still sitting by his lonesome at the bar calls over his shoulder to the rest of his crew. Ahri drops her legs from the table to the ground, her boots hitting the stone floor with a thud as she signals a round-up at the two playing sabacc. Only when all members of the crew have made their way to the bar does Reeg continue.
SERIES MASTERLIST
<<<>>>
“This ol’ thing just picked up a transmission, dating back fifty years.”
The Gabdorin first-mate opens his wide mouth first. “Well? What’s it sayin’, Reeg?”
“It’s being relayed from something that goes by ‘B1-CC14′? It’s a distress signal coming from a cruiser called the Obrexta III.”
The old man wiping the counter with an extremely dirty rag halts and meanders over to where the group’s gathered at the bar, leaning in close after scanning each of their very different faces. The feisty red Twi’lek member glared at him, about to ask him what his problem is, but he interjects with a gummy grin.
“I’ve heard that name before... that cruiser.” All eyes turn to the old bartender as he rubs his skinny, wrinkly fingers against his thumb, signaling the need of some sort of payment for the following information he has to offer. With a roll of her eyes, Ahri tosses a few credits across the counter, reassuringly placing her hand on Sidon’s cloaked shoulder as they all lean in close when the old man starts to open his mouth.
“Heard it crashed here way back at the end of the Clone Wars... somethin’ about containin’ the lost treasure of one of the political heads of the time. Dooku, I think’s the name.”
Treasure.
That’s the one word a group of pirates needs to hear.
A few pairs of eyes light up upon hearing the magic word, but the more cautions among them simply raise their brows - incredulous. Quiggold shakes his cloaked and rounded head ever so slightly as a sign to take caution - the captain nodding in agreement at his first-mate.
“How many have you told of this cruiser and treasure?” Quiggold inquires at the hunched-back bartender, stepping closer and leaning over the counter.
The old man is quick to reply with a sly smile, “If they’re willin’ to pay for the information, it’s theirs.”
“Captain.” Ahri pulls the crew’s leader to the side before whispering so only he can hear, “We can’t be the only ones to know about this wreckage. It’s been what, five decades since it crashed here on Ponemah? I’m sure hundreds upon hundreds have tried to find the treasure, so who knows if it’s even still there?" She pauses - her eyes flickering to the few pairs of prying eyes coming from the other end of the cantina. "There’s those giant sand worms out there, too, not to mention the difficult terrain. I think it’s too risky, Sid.” Ahri peers over to her other crewmates who seem to be preoccupied with yapping with the bartender, save for Pen, who's now strutting over to the two of them.
“Captain, I think we should go for it. Bartender just said there’s kyber crystals on board, and maybe even a lightsaber. The cruiser belonged to a sith lord, sir. You know how much we can get on the black market for those crystals?”
Ahri not-so-discretely scoffs and shakes her head, narrowing her eyes at the overly-eager Ishi Tib.
“The wreckage has been there since the end of the Clone Wars, Pen. Who’s to say the crystals haven’t already been scooped up?” Her eyes land on the captain once again, “Sid...it’s your call. I know we can handle anything that comes our way... I just think the journey itself is far too dangerous for the slim chance that there’s actually something worth while within that dated wreckage.”
It’s silent between the three for a long moment; it’s difficult for anyone else to read Sidon’s expression since it is always hidden underneath the mask, but Ahri knows him well enough now to know almost exactly what he’s thinking. Captain Sidon Ithano is a man of very few words; he relies heavily on his crewmates to translate his thoughts and anticipate his desires, but will speak if absolutely needed. Ahri can read Sidon like an ancient text scribbled on some flimsi, more so than the rest of the crew, but probably ties with their first-mate.
With a disappointed sigh, she shakes her head, already knowing his answer. Sidon finally nods, and Pen claps his hands excitedly - the rest of the crew cheering under their breaths once they catch sight of the exuberant Ishi Tib making his way back to them.
“Fine,” she mumbles, heading back over to the others behind the captain. Kicking the ground and tossing the old man behind the bar another couple of credits, she sighs again. “Alright, barkeep. Where’s this wreckage?”
“Southern Region. S’all I know.”
This time, Ahri laughs. “Let me guess, in the middle of the fucking Sea of Sand, right?” The bartender tugs his thin lips into a creepy smile, nodding with an amused huff. The defeated redhead turns back to her crewmates, speaking to the captain in particular. “Can’t even get there flying the Martinet. We’ll need a sail barge to get there.”
The Sea of Sand - quite appropriately named - is plagued by lightning storms, magma geysers, and 15-meter waves of caustic sand that act as Ponemah’s sea. Even the crew’s ship, the Meson Martinet, a heavily modified CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle, is no match for that terrain.
And the crew knows this.
Sidon nods before turning his attention back towards the old man who had resumed wiping the bar, clearly satisfied with the amount of credits he’d acquired just from entertaining a group of desperate pirates.
“A sail barge.”
The deeply modulated voice coming from the captain always makes Ahri shudder - but not from fear.
(Anon that killed reader here!) Okay so I kind of feel bad about the angst I put up earlier so here's something really fluffy and cool that I randomly thought about during history class.
K picture this, the chain is doing their own thing in camp and they hear kids screaming they go to check and see two kids. They help them and save them. The kids tell them they got dragged through a portal because of the symbol on their hand and now they don't know where they are. The chain looks at their little hands AND YEP THEY GOT THE GLOWING TRIANGLE ON THEM.
They say their names are Junior and Zel and they're brother and sister. They chill with them and help them THEN they start talking about their parents "My daddy is the King! He used to be a warrior and hunt bad people!" Like.... Oh that sounds familiar... The chain then thinks back to his name and ask. "Is your name Junior or, does it stand for something else?" Jr. then just drops the bomb on them and says "I was named Link Junior after my dad! And Zel was named after our auntie Zelda!"
Okay....now they know that technically Junior and Zel, are their kids...
Then they start talking about their mom.
Everyone is listening, every detail is taken in for them to think about like just whooooo would marry them???? Zel then shows a blue heart container necklace and says that her mom has the same one and if it glows she is near. Important detail, they all think. Later they go to Wilds world and go see Sidon to rest, the kids are happy to see Sidon and yell out "Uncle Sidon!" And go hug him cuz they don't know that that's not t h i e r uncle Sidon. The chain then have to explain to Sidon and the whole time he just be smirking.
You then hear a gasp from Zel as her necklace is glowing the kids look at each other and run towards the entrance, the group not far behind. All you see is the beautiful, lovely, gorgeous, caring and smiling reader. Her necklace glowing as it matches with Zel's then they just scream "MOMMY!" and run, the reader runs over to hug and kiss her kids.
AND AT THAT VERY MOMENT, THE WHOLE CHAIN KNEW WHY THEY FEEL IN LOVE AND MARRIED THE READER!!!!!
Sidon in the back just smirking at the lovestruck faces the chain has.
This honestly could be a prompt on it's own.
You and him meet your future kids.
Imagine the chaos.
A Yiga attacks you, drawing blood. A mighty roar sounds in the distance, and not even a minute later, a feral Sidon emerges from the water, enraged and ready to kill. With a few well-placed snaps of his powerful jaws, Sidon has ripped the Yiga to shreds. When you get back to the Domain, Sidon is livid with you, berating you for trying to run away.
Tears run down your face uncontrollably as the Zora prince begins screaming at you, angry and ballistic as his stance makes you feel small and pathetic. You honestly weren’t trying to do anything! All of this started because of a misunderstanding and he won’t even take a second to listen to you!
Words are stuck in your throat as he sighs and turns around, too angry to look at you. You’re always starting trouble! Always ignoring his warnings! Why is it so hard for you to listen?!
“Sidon please I wasn’t-“
“I don’t want to hear it!”
“If you would just listen to me-“
“I SAID I DONT WANT TO HEAR IT!” He snaps, eyes turned to slits as he glared at you, mouth formed into a snarl “I don’t want to hear another word from you. You’ve deliberately disobeyed me and nearly gotten yourself killed! Unless the next words from you are an apology you can keep quiet for the rest of the day”.
You clench your fists, his words hurting and making you feel like a child being scolded. “If I knew you would treat me like a fucking child I would’ve let the Yiga kill me. I’m so tired of you acting like I can’t take care of myself. Fine. You want silence? Have it”.
Dramatic theatrics always pissed you off, and Sidon having the gall and audacity to act like he was scolding you out of love was asinine and grating on your nerves. Perhaps you should have been the one shredded by his teeth, at least then he’d actually do you a favor.
Not being allowed to go anywhere, be allowed to do anything, or even be allowed to speak your mind was absolute hell! You’re so fucking tired of it! If he wants to play games and be emotional then you can too.
Childish? Yeah but nothing about this situation was mature or on a level of calm and collected.
Hours go by, and you’re examining the bruises left by the attack as you sit by the waterfall. Another Zora guard is by your side, and he seems to want to say something but only nervously rocks on his feet as you stare down at the waters below.
“...He’s just looking out for you...you know?”.
You make a noise, looking up at the pale green Zora as he clears his throat and looks away. “The prince. He’s not doing it in the best way but...he just really cares about you and your well-being”.
You shake your head, not believing a word the fish said. “He’s got a funny way of showing it. That’s for fuckin’ sure” you bite out, looking up where the prince was pacing back and forth in the throne room. He still seemed livid and feral, but there was a hint of remorse behind those usually kind eyes.
With a sigh, the guard nods his head, toying with the shaft of his spear “The prince has had many hardships that he had no control over. You’re the closest person he’s been able to have in centuries. He doesn’t want to lose someone important again. I know he goes about it in a strange way, but you must know it comes from a good place”.
Sure. A good place. Right.
What’s so good about being treated like an incompetent child? Or being blamed for something you had zero control over? No, Sidon is just being cruel and controlling. Nothing sweet about it.
The Zora could tell you were hard set on brooding and frowing. Understandable given your circumstances. However he felt the need to try and cheer you up, even if just a little.
“Perhaps now that things have calmed down...you two could try to talk again? I’m sure even if you have choice words to say, it’s better than giving him the silent treatment”.
“HE’S THE ONE WHO WANTED ONE!” You spit, splashing the water slightly with the gesture you made with your hands. You huff, seeing the look on the guards face and turning to face the waterfalls again. “He won’t listen anyway. He’s mad at me and I’m tired of him. He only cares about how he feels, not about how I feel”.
“That’s not true, my pearl” a familiar, deep voice replied. You stiffen, turning to face the larger, more colorful Zora. Even now his eyes still held anger, but not for you. No he was angry with himself for letting his emotions take over, allowing instinct to muddle what he was truly trying to say.
He hurt you, and he can’t forgive himself. He swore to protect you and all he has done is smother the light you used to shine.
“...” you say nothing, turning back around and trying your best to stay silent. Crossing your arms over your chest, you shrug your shoulders as the only attempt at communication. Sidon nibbles his lips as he plays with his fingers nervously, debating on how to apologize and approach you.
He too stayed silent, giving a head tilt towards the guard to leave his post. Once the other left, he sat down in the waters beside you, drumming his fingers on the floor as his lips pout in thought. The sky was turning into a beautiful twilight, and the moons light casting upon you only made you look even more stunning. He could see the bruises made on you, and his chest ached knowing you were hurt.
You had defensive signs all over you. Signs that you didn’t go with the Yiga warrior willingly. Marks that proved you were scared and needing his protection and all he offered in return was anger and blame.
“...I’m sorry...” he said softly, eyes lowered “I...I thought you and the yiga...I...well-“
You cut him off, not looking in his direction as you finish what he was struggling to say “You assumed I was teaming with the enemy. I know” you bitterly state, fingers clenching your elbows as your arms were folded over, cradling yourself as a form of comfort. “Shows how much you trust me....”you weakly added, voice cracking.
Guilt was bubbling inside of him. He’s known you for so long yet he let his insecurities taint his image of you. And look where that’s gotten him! Your warmth was dying out because he can’t seem to realize that you aren’t like the others. Sidon knows you aren’t fragile and that you’ll always be by his side, but time and time again he ignores these facts over his emotion.
It goes silent again, the crickets chirping in the distance being the only noise for a while as he watches your face glimmer in the starlight. Amazing and breath taking as ever. His hand reaches over towards you, gently laying ontop of your own, his fingers intertwining with yours.
“I can’t take back what I did. But I can say that it’s eating me alive and that I hate how it even left my mouth. And...I want you to know I do care about you. I know I’m controlling and intense and unreasonable...and the fact you haven’t tried to kill me yet is amazing “ he jokes, smiling when he sees the little bit of amusement etched into your face.
You squeeze his hand and give half a smirk “well...you make up for it when you let me get away with stealing snacks from the store...so I’d say it’s even”.
Both of you share a soft laugh, and you swing your feet over the falls as you clear your throat. “I-I know you’re just worried about me but...Sidon, I’m not some fragile toy. I’m not some bad guy either. I wouldn’t ever do anything dangerous and despicable like join the Yiga...or leave you”.
Sidon lowers his head, pressing it against Yours as he holds your clasped hands to his chest. “I know...I know and I’m such a fool for thinking otherwise. I’ll make this up to you darling, anyway you want! Just say the word and it’s yours!”.
You gently kiss his cheek, and give a soft breath in thought. “Anything?”.
He nods in affirmation “Anything.”
You grunt, standing up to maneuver onto his lap “Well...for now just hold me. I’ll think of something extravagant later. Deal?”.
He laughs, holding you closer and nodding his head “Deal”.
A Proposal Gone Awry
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Summary: Link has been touring the breadth and width of Hyrule to clear out the remaining monster camps, and soon enough, he reaches Zora’s Domain. Mipha asks him to wait before he heads back to the castle, which he was intending on doing... but some mischievous children may have other plans.
Thank you to @braidy-maidy, @zeldaelmo and @zeldadiarist for your help betaing!
Relationships: Link/Zelda Link/Mipha- Onesided Link & The Zora Children Mipha & Revali (Legend of Zelda)
Contains spoilers for AOC. This is my take on the Heart's Escort Mission- specifically what you get at the end of that.Basically- I turn my angst gun on another character whoopsie but I don't leave Mipha high and dry I promise!
Tags: Unrequited Love, Heartbreak, Healing, Emotional angst, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending
Link had just got back from the battlefield, and he’d left Mipha there, albeit reluctantly. She insisted she would be the one to check over the Zora troops, alone, “I’ll be able to heal them as I go along Link. Why don’t you go back to the Domain and rest whilst I finish up? You’re not wounded, are you?” He replied in the negative, or well, he’d shaken his head anyway. He’d remained with her still, but she’d sort of stammered for a while, something about final preparations, and it was okay for him to leave. Link wasn’t entirely sure why she didn’t want him to stay, but he hadn’t heard her clearly through what seemed to be perpetual rain on Ploymus mountain, and Mipha had become particularly jumpy around him lately, so he opted to leave her be. He just assumed she meant preparations for the healing she was going to do- and maybe that was a private thing? Or maybe she wanted to ask him to train at some point and it was preparations for that? Not that there was much need for it anymore, with the Calamity destroyed and sealed away, but he missed his childhood friend and would like to help her if she wanted it. Just before he left, she’d clutched his arm, and had asked if he could wait until dinner for her because she wanted to tell him something. He saw no reason to decline, so he’d given her a slight nod and then moved to leave.
As he meandered back through the twisting pathways, he realised that it wasn’t that late, but for some inexplicable reason he felt tired. Sunset had just fallen over the Domain, and now the luminous stones started to glow and fluoresce. It truly was a beautiful place, although… he wasn’t a huge fan of the way the water flowing the walkways had started to creep through his metal boots. He sighed, it had been a spur of the moment decision to wear his Soldier’s Armour, he had put his Champion’s Tunic through the wash multiple times since the Calamity fight and it was still drying in his Guard’s Chamber. He felt strangely bare without it, and he certainly missed the increased perception he had whilst wearing it. And, well, for other, uh, sentimental reasons. No, not because the Princess had made it for him. No. Not at all. He was pulled from his thoughts when his foot squelched uncomfortably in his now soaked socks into the metal plate of his boot. The flow of water had never been a problem as a child because he could run barefoot everywhere and no one would care, but now as the Hero it wouldn’t be seen as proper. He would have to polish them later, to avoid rust forming. And change his socks.
He slowly exhaled, it had been a long week of fighting off the remaining hordes of monsters from Calamity Ganon’s revival, today being the day that he had decided to help clear out the remnants in Zora’s Domain. It was funny, because before he wouldn’t have seen a weeklong absence from the Castle as a bad thing, but now… He blushed slightly, before shaking his head. He still had to go clean up, and then eat dinner, because by the Goddesses he was starving, and then meet Mipha… And perhaps he’d teleport back to the Central Tower and then to the Castle. Just to see her again. He missed being by her side, and it left him restless to know he wasn’t protecting her. Somehow over the course of their journey together those feelings of friendship and wanting to protect her had slowly morphed into something else. Or perhaps, he reflected, his reasoning for wanting to do those things had changed. But he could start to smell the aroma of freshly made hasty meat skewers made using the abundance of fleet lotus seeds around the Domain and Link’s stomach audibly grumbled. Ah, food was close, so he hurried the last few steps to reach the Dining Hall.
Just as he was about to go inside, four small bodies ploughed into him, and he let out a startled gasp. They tugged at his boots, and he only belatedly realised it was the members of The Big Bad Bazz Brigade. Bazz was at the forefront with the sword Link had gifted him when they were children proudly strapped to his back. The sword was barely off the ground, though, with the tip jutting into the passageway with every jump he made.
“LINK!” Bazz shouted, a huge smile plastered across his face.
“Hey Link!” Rivan jostled with Bazz and they flailed their arms at each other, with both of them gripping one of his legs. Link looked down and wasn’t sure what to do exactly. Did he try to separate them? Or peel them off him? He couldn’t help but smile at their antics though.
“You’re coming down to our Domain an awful lot recently, aren’t you?” Gaddison, The Heroine, had both hands on her hips but then moved to pull the two squabbling friends off his poor boots. He hadn’t realised how heavy Zoran children were.
Behind them shyly stood Sidon, he was smaller than all of them, and he gripped his Lightscale Trident with shaking hands.
Link nodded at Gaddison, pointed back towards the mountain where the monsters had been. She nodded sagely, understanding what he meant. Link moved to pick up Sidon, he hadn’t been allowed to join Bazz’s group because he was too young, but he still followed them everywhere. Actually, he tried so hard to prove his worth to be allowed in, he’d even climbed Ploymus mountain to face the Lynel there in an effort to prove his courage. Link found him to be adorable, Sidon reminded him of what he was like at that age, keen to please and prove he was capable, but too reckless for his own good. Sidon smiled his trademark smile and wrapped both arms around Link’s neck. Link smiled; aw he was so cute.
“Hey Link! When will you go swimming up the waterfall with us? You’re older now right, do you have your scales yet?” Rivan asked.
He shook his head. He didn’t have scales, and he wouldn’t ever get them because he wasn’t Zoran.
“HE’S A HYLIAN you ninny! He’s not a Zora! He won’t ever get scales like we will!” Ah Gaddison, ever the voice of reason in the group of rowdy boys. She mothered them all, he could remember that from when he used to play at the Domain, and she sprouted logic that the Zora-equivalent of a ten-year-old Hylian probably shouldn’t have, but who was he to judge.
Rivan looked traumatised. “So, we can never swim up the waterfall with Link then?”
“NO.” She paused, “Well, unless someone gives him armour with their scale on it.”
Bazz shoved his shoulder into hers, “Why don’t you do it then?”
She shoved him back, doubly hard, so much so that he ended up slipping in the water and skidding onto his bum. Link suppressed a bout of laughter at his enraged face. “Do I look like I have a White Scale yet Bazz? I can’t give him one if I don’t have one myself!” She bent down and whacked his arm again. “AND ANYWAY, did you not listen to the history lessons we’ve had- you only give your scale to the person you want to marry, basically as an engagement present.” She fluffed her fins around, “And I guess by association love.” She shuddered, “What a disgusting concept. Imagine loving a boy. How desperate do you have to be?”
Link suddenly felt ridiculously embarrassed. He tried going to the shop on the way here, but they didn’t sell the actual chest plate part of the Zora armour and had looked at him strangely when he’d showed them the Greaves and Helm he already had and pointed at his chest. Then again, maybe he should have actually voiced it. He found it bizarre, considering all the other races seemed fine with selling their complete armour sets. He chalked it off as just a Zora thing. But now he knew better. Farore, he had been such an idiot. How had he apparently missed this piece of information? He hadn’t known the Zora Armour was only given as an engagement gift! And to someone you loved no less. No wonder the staff in the shop had looked at him as if he had grown an extra head!
Bazz looked sheepish, scratching the back of his head. “Well, that was the girl side of things, Heroine.”
Rivan looked confused, “Then you don’t love Link?”
Gaddison blushed bright red, “NOT IN THAT WAY! And I’m only 52! That’s not appropriate at all!” She punched them both, “Do you not remember anything about our plan?”
Bazz scratched his chin. “We want to go swimming up the waterfall.”
Gaddison took a deep breath. “Well done, Bazz, son of Seggin. That’s the whole point of this venture, none of the adults will let us go on the waterfall by ourselves because we aren’t that strong.” She huffed and sat down, her legs crossed and both hands holding her face up in what Link recognised as classic-moody-child-face, “We just need some supervision is all. That is what Link would have been ideal for, but he doesn’t have the armour, it was a longshot really.”
Rivan piped up. “WAIT I remember now! Wasn’t this to do with Kodah?”
Up until that point, Link had been watching the three of them squabbling with amusement mostly. He’d been surprised with the revelation of the Zora Armour but how was he supposed to know the intricacies of Zora… courting (?) rituals. It struck him as weird that they hadn’t changed a single bit since when he was a child and when he played with them. Although, it made sense, that they had remained children whilst he had matured, because Hylians aged much faster compared to the Zora. As soon as Kodah was brought up though, he winced. He could still hear her screeching LINNY when he had walked into the Domain with the Princess who had come to recruit Mipha as a champion. It had been mortifying.
Gaddison sighed. “Yes, she said she was making the armour for a Hylian remember! And then that gossip that my mother heard that she was in fact going to propose to the Hero? In case you’ve been living under a rock- that Hero is sitting right there!” She pointed at him, and Link went red-faced, his eyebrows raised high. Oh, thank the Goddesses Kodah hadn’t done anything. He had no idea what he’d even say. How had she ever thought he’d agree anyway- it wasn’t like he’d talked to her properly since when he was four! But then, time passed differently for the Zora… “I thought she would have given it to him by now.” She huffed, “We should have realised that flaw in our plan.”
Bazz was uncharacteristically silent as the three of them sulked over not being able to go up the waterfall. Link felt bemused that all of their extensive planning was over this armour that apparently a lover, in this case Kodah, was meant to give to their loved one (him haha what a joke) so that he could wear said engagement gift and take them to the waterfall. He shook his head, children’s priorities and means to achieve those were always… entertaining to listen to. Bazz suddenly perked up, “Baby Prince!” Sidon looked up from where he had been resting his head on Link’s shoulder. “Didn’t you go blabbing around the other day to the King that Princess Mipha was making someone armour?”
Rivan enthusiastically nodded, “YEAH- you said that King Dorephan was worried about it, so he commi-ssioned someone to get the materials, and he gave them the Zora Greaves!”
Link swallowed; he had a small inclination of where things were going but he wasn’t sure. He pulled out the Greaves anyway and after a round of ohs and ahs, a hushed silence fell over the group, everyone watching Sidon as the small red spots on his cheeks flared a darker red. He sucked in a small breath and slowly nodded.
Bazz nodded, and immediately stood up. “This is a mission for the The Big Bad Bazz Brigade. We hereby announce that we will go searching for this Armour- this is your pre-pre-liminary mission, Rookie Comrade Sidon. We cannot go find Kodah’s armour because we have no clue where it is so that would waste valuable time, but you know where Mipha’s is don’t you?”
Sidon nodded, much more enthusiastically this time. Link held his hands up, trying to get them to stop.
Gaddison stood up then, “Wait, what if she made it for a Zora?”
Bazz shook his head, “We’ll make do. You want to go swimming tonight, don’t you Heroine?”
Link was vehemently shaking his head, and opened his mouth, but the words died in his throat. What were they doing? What was he agreeing to?! No, he had to say something, he might not know much about courting rituals, but he didn’t want to wear something meant as a present for an engagement!
“Hey!” They all looked at him, “Is this… okay?”
“We need to ask Comrade Gaddison for that information because we, ahem, didn’t, uh, study the particulars.”
Gaddison paused. “Well, I don’t really know. Do you just propose once in your life and that’s it? I mean technically the scales grow back right? It’s not like you have a gaping hole in your chest. And really, everyone seems to be making one at the minute, so it probably doesn’t hold all that fancy meaning anymore. And Lord Jabu Jabu knows we have so many traditions that no one other than the oldies bother with.”
Rivan piped up, “Princess Mipha is nice too, so she won’t mind right?”
Gaddison nodded, “True, and theoretically, we’re just borrowing it. It’s not like Link here will take it forever or something. It’s just so we can practise going up the waterfall a few times on our own, and then we’ll give it back. She probably won’t even know we’ve taken it!” She shook her head, “I surmise no issues Comrade Bazz. We may proceed.”
“Comrade Rivan?”
“Sounds good! It means we can swim with Link, right?”
Bazz sighed, “Yes it does. Good so, last person, Comrade Link?”
Link blinked. This whole situation had gone from zero to one hundred so fast. He wasn’t even sure what he was consenting to, and he was really confused. Did this armour really matter to the Zora? Apparently, it did to the shop keepers, but maybe he’d just confused them? That was highly likely considering he hadn’t even said anything to begin with. And Kodah had made him one and he’d last seen her when he was four- she couldn’t genuinely believe he would agree to marry her right? But even ignoring that, it made the whole thing seem a bit like a joke- surely the Armour doesn’t mean that much if you’d make it for someone who you haven’t talked to in years? Plus, the way Gaddison was talking, and she was really the only source of actual knowledge on the topic, made it seem like it was something all the Zora did in their spare time. But stealing Mipha’s potentially specific armour for her future husband? That felt really wrong. And he knew Mipha was a very serious person, not at all like Kodah, so he had a feeling this meant more to her. Plus, why exactly was he agreeing - because the kids wanted to go surfing vertically? That just felt ridiculous. He shook his head. No. He wasn’t going to ruin Mipha’s gift for her, um, future husband. It’s not what friends would do.
Bazz’s eyes widened, “Please Link. You don’t… play with us anymore. I know you’re all grown up, and you have like responsi-si-”
“Responsibilities you fool.”
“What she said!” and then Bazz opened up his pouch, “AND we got you a gift! Your favourite from the Domain, Hearty Salmon Meuniere!”
Link sighed, about to decline, but his stomach rumbled again and Bazz shoved the plate into his hand. He always was too susceptible to food. And, they made a valid point. He hadn’t spent much time with them lately and they seemed desperate to go up a waterfall. Maybe this was a Zora rite of passage- he knew when he was younger, he’d been desperate to duel with soldiers, but everyone had laughed at him because he was so young. Perhaps this was the same for them. And who was he kidding- he just couldn’t say no. Especially to food children. And he couldn’t deny a small part of him was intrigued as to what the Zora Armour looked like after all. It was the last one he had yet to collect, having received the Greaves from who he now knew was the king, and the Helm from when Mipha had been recruited. So, even though he felt like it was probably not the right thing to do, he agreed, the reckless and hungry side won out. “One ride up the waterfall. And then we return the Armour.”
A series of exclamations and happy cries of “YES! LET’S GO!” rang out through the Domain.
experiment #46
i wrote this in honor of @annabethwithabook who gave me the idea. i hope this is everything you dreamed it would be.
read on ao3
———
Based on a True Story
“Zelda, are you sure this is going to work?” Link yelled up at her.
Zelda checked the breaks one last time where Link had showed her on the bike.
“Don’t worry Link! I believe I calculated everything correctly…” She trailed off, making sure her feet would be firmly planted on the foot pegs when she was riding. “Plus,” she started again. “I think this will be our best chance of finding out the Master Cycle’s true potential!”
While Zelda excitedly made sure all last preparations were in place, Link, feeling extremely unsure, stood on a wooden raft in the Hylia River.
A wooden raft that was connected by rope to the back of the Master Cycle, which Zelda was currently sitting atop of.
When Zelda first saw the Master Cycle after they had defeated Ganon, she was astounded. She actually took it apart to see how the engine system worked and thought about designing a guardian part mechanism to make the engine run faster, but she claimed that project could wait.
“This experiment is much more important”, she said. “It was number forty-six on my list, but now it’s bumped right up to number one!”
Zelda wanted to see just what the Master Cycle was capable of. What could it be used for? How efficiently can it run? Can we make it even more efficient? She had a million ideas she wanted to test, jotting all of them down in her journal, and this one, she decided, was the best. So, she made Link find one of the old, wooden rafts that floated around the various rivers and lakes of Hyrule, tear off its sail, and connect a rope from the wooden post to the back of the Master Cycle.
Link wanted to say something. He wanted to tell her that this experiment wouldn’t work, because he had tried it before with some of the stable hands one night after a few too many drinks.
But he didn’t have the heart to tell her. She was so excited. Zelda had calculated everything out and if it worked, this concept along with all of the other Divine Beast technology could advance Hyrule into a technological revolution.
So, he just kept his mouth shut. And thanked himself for taking off his shirt and shoes because he was definitely going to end up in the water at some point.
Zelda sat in the Master Cycle a little further ahead of him along the path of the Hylia River, skin glowing in the summer sun while in a tank top in shorts. Her short, glowing hair waving with the breeze made her look like sunshine. Link gulped and looked away, pretending the nervous feeling in his stomach was because he could possibly die from this experiment and not how beautiful Zelda looked.
“Alright, Link! I think we’re ready!” She turned around, smile bright with anticipation. “Are you okay?”
Link gave a thumbs up and an unconvincing smile.
Zelda turned around with a huff. “He should know by now I can see through those constipated smiles of his. Oh well, might as well get this started…” she muttered to herself.
Zelda revved the engine, the loud noise making her jump but fueling her excitement tenfold. She giggled and did a little dance as she could barely contain herself, and then turned around once more to see the signal from Link.
Link could practically see Zelda vibrating with excitement as she looked back at him on the Master Cycle, and he gripped the makeshift handle tied to the wooden post in the middle just a little tighter.
“Ready!” He shouted.
He was not ready.
“Alright!” Zelda squealed. “Here we go—“
The Master Cycle jerked forward as Zelda did not ease into pressing on the gas like Link told her too. The rope pulled taut and the Master Cycle didn’t go anywhere for a moment. The wheels spun around in the dirt, dust flying everywhere.
And then, Link was moving.
Zelda was moving.
Zelda was pulling Link.
It was actually working. Zelda rode along the path next to the river, pulling the raft that Link was standing on. It was slow moving, but it was working nonetheless.
A smile quirked onto Link’s face.
“Wooooooohooooo!!” Zelda cheered, pumping a fist in the air.
It was one cheer too soon.
It happened all too quickly. One moment, Link was gliding across the water on the raft, Zelda safely on the side of the river, and the next moment, Zelda was off the Master Cycle, falling into the river.
Link dove into the river immediately, panic burning in his chest.
He was so, so thankful for the water safety mechanism that the Master Cycle had. He knew that once it hit the water, it would dissipate into the air and Zelda wouldn’t be crushed.
At least he hoped.
Link swam as fast as he could, keeping an eye on Zelda and hoping she wasn’t hurt. He saw her head bob out of the water and her arms flapping to help her stay afloat.
“Zel! Zel, hold on!” Link swam faster, hoping to god she wasn’t drowning.
Zelda’s head popped out of the water once more and stayed up this time. Link grabbed her shoulders to help her steady.
She was having quite a coughing fit before the coughs turned into pure laughter. Link was too busy checking her for injuries and keeping her afloat to notice.
“It actually worked!” She beamed. “I knew it would. I believe what went wrong was the shape of the raft, maybe if we could—“
Zelda paused at Link who was scanning his eyes all over her, brows furrowed with a displaced look of worry she didn’t often see from him.
“Link.”
He ignored her, gliding his hands all over her shoulder and arm. She frowned.
“Link.”
He ignored her again. Zelda huffed in frustration, grabbing his face in her hands.
“Link, you big dummy, listen to me!”
Link froze, big blue eyes snapping to up to her face.
“Are you even listening to me? Link, it worked.”
This time, Link frowned. “Yeah, barely. Zel, you almost died.”
Zelda’s mouth gaped open. “I did not almost die. Link I’m fine—“
“Your arm.”
Zelda looked down at her right arm where Link’s fingers were gently brushing against it, examining where her arm had gotten skinned against the ground when she fell. His deep blue eyes were alert with worry.
Zelda moved her hands down from his face and onto his shoulders. “Link, I’m fine. I can’t even feel it. Don’t you see what this means? If we can perfect this mechanism—“
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
Link stared at her, the water reflecting light against his tanned, sun kissed skin. The look of worry didn’t falter, he just waited for her to give her a reassuring answer.
Zelda then realized their proximity. Link held her up with his arms, treading water to keep them both afloat. Zelda was holding on to his shoulders, her chest inches away from his bare one. She could see his face so clearly, the water dripping down from his hair and onto his cheeks. The water made his blue eyes sparkle.
Zelda swallowed.
“I-I’m fine, Link.”
Link’s faced stayed twisted with that worry for a moment before relaxing back to what Zelda was used to. She felt herself relax too, and brought the smile back to her face.
“We need to make several adjustments, but I think this could be the start of something.”
“First,” Link said. “Let’s get out of this water and dry off. Then, what adjustments need to be made exactly?”
Zelda grinned. “We need a different raft. And more people.”
———
“Uh, a-and what do I do again?”
Link watched Yunobo’s hands shake as he sprawled out on the new and improved aerodynamic raft attached to the new and improved Master Cycle—Master Watercraft as Zelda called it. Which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of their friends.
They enlisted the help of Sidon, who demonstrated just what makes Zoras swim so efficiently, and Zelda decided they needed a new raft that was smaller, lighter, and more aerodynamic, mirroring the way Zora’s glided across the water on their stomachs. Then, to fix the problem of the Master Cycle tipping over into the water, Zelda completely deconstructed the Master Cycle and reconstructed it with a more powerful, guardian powered engine along with floating devices to keep it above the water. She added floating devices to the raft too, for extra measure.
They needed people of different body statures to test it out, which was why Yunobo was now shaking like a leaf as he laid stomach down on the raft, holding onto the front for dear life. Link smirked.
He has no idea what he’s gotten himself into.
“All you have to do is hold on!” Zelda yelled from the side of the river, standing next to Sidon and Riju. Sidon was present as a research partner and consultant, while Riju had come for “the entertainment”.
“You’ll be fine, my dear Yunobo!” Sidon’s encouraging words rang out. “I guarantee it!”
“You definitely won’t die,” Riju yelled.
If Link looked back at Yunobo’s face again, he wasn’t sure he would be able to make the poor guy go through with it.
“This is extremely safe, Yunobo!” Zelda yelled again. “I’ve calculated all of it! And Link will go slow!”
Link smirked again. No promises, he thought to himself.
“Okay, Yunobo, are you ready?” Zelda threw a thumbs to Yunobo.
“I-I-I guess,” Yunobo stammered.
Link caught Zelda’s fiery green eyes. They were eyes that said don’t go too fast and please definitely don’t do anything stupid.
Link just smiled and revved the engine.
“Three, two, one!” Link yelled. And then he floored it.
The rope pulled taut under Yunobo’s weight, but once the engine adjusted, Link was flying across the water, the engine roaring in his ears. It almost drowned out Yunobo’s screams of terror as they made their way down the Hylia river. Link was having a blast.
It was going so well that Link went under every bridge that stretched across the river and all the way around Lake Hylia. He didn’t bother to look back at Yunobo, whose screams were letting him and all of Hyrule know he was still alive.
Once Link made his way around Lake Hylia, he went all the way back down the river to where they had started. He could see Zelda from a distance, jumping up and down with her hands in the air. Link slowed down once he made his way back to the starting point.
“It’s amazing!” Zelda yelled, beaming from ear to ear. “Goddesses it actually worked!”
Link came to a stop in front of them, feeling joyous as well from all the adrenaline and excitement. How could he have ever doubted Zelda’s genius in the first place? This right here, he thought, this has potential.
“Yunobo!” Sidon shouted. “Are you alright?”
Link turned around to find Yunobo still clutching to the raft like it was his life line. His face might have been a little pale, but then he spoke up.
“T-That was actually fun!”
They all laughed, Zelda shouting in victory again. Link watched her face light up with her smile and thanked the goddesses his wish came true.
“Alright,” Riju spoke up. “I’m definitely going next.”
They used the Master Watercraft all night, taking turns riding and driving and racing Sidon well after the sun had finally set.
Experiment #46, check.
[One final fic from a write-off, this one was from a tournament back in March though this one shot was technically done on April 7th 2021. Once again, this isn’t edited and most likely won’t be posted anywhere else. I hope you enjoy this ^u^]
Warning(s): None, maybe crack treated seriously
Prompt: amnesic wild being raised by good monster parents
“Hey, what’s the hurry? Something nearby?”
The sounds of leaves blowing in the breeze and birds chirping a morning greeting woke them all up that morning. It wasn’t the worst wake-up call, but it was a startling contrast from where they had been the night before. Wild was the one to immediately recognize the area they were in, practically rushing through making breakfast and passing it out.
Wild shrugged, an excited grin on his face.
“You could say that. C’mon, hurry up!”
Twilight chuckled, finishing off the meal. As the group packed up their bedrolls and items, Wild fidgeted by the treeline, antsy to get moving. It took only a minute or two and Wild was leading the way past the trees and one of the glowing shrines that were scattered throughout his land. Twilight had only looked away for a second, watching the sun climb into the sky with brilliant reds and oranges, only for Wild to sprint away the second he looked back.
“Cub! Wait up!”
“Dammit Wild!”
The hero just laughed, easily scaling a small cliff and shrieking with delight once he had made it up. Twilight only hesitated a second and then he was struggling to climb up as well, Legend and Hyrule not far behind. He only peeked his head over the edge and then ducked down.
“I’m dreaming. I have to be dreaming.”
“What’s got you so spooked, wolf boy?” Legend asked with confusion, though his question was soon answered, “Oh… yeah, that’s probably up there on my list of strangest things I’ve ever seen.”
Wild was sitting down under a small overhang, a campfire alight with skewered fish propped up around it. But sitting beside Wild was a rather large Lynel with a snow-white mane, peacefully sitting and watching with amusement as Legend and Hyrule stared unbelieving at the scene. Of course, it was around this time that the rest of the group walked the rest of the way up the hill to witness… whatever this was.
“Hey, uh… Wild?”
Said hero turned towards Time, the elder hero looking rather concerned if not about ready to unsheath his sword at a moment’s notice. Wild then understood the confused and concerned faces of the rest of the group.
“Oh, I guess I never actually talked about the very beginning of my quest,” Wild rubbed the back of his head, sheepishly, “Whoops.”
The Lynel rumbled, shaking their head and nudging Wild slightly.
“Talk Cub.”
“I’m getting to it,” Wild stood then, sighing dramatically, not at all acknowledging the fact that holy golden goddesses the Lynel could speak! “Everyone, this is Alex. They were the first one I met that didn’t try to kill me immediately.”
Alex shook their head again, grabbing Wild and sitting him back down at their side.
“Bad at explaining. My turn now,” they spoke, looking out at the group, including the three that finally decided to climb up the rest of the way up the cliff and sit near the edge. They rumbled out a laugh then looked upwards for a moment.
“Cub was being chased by bokos into my territory, wounded and dirty. Old Hylian never showed to help, so I did. Cub was knocked down, the bokos were about to kill, but I scared them off,” Alex laughed at the thought, pulling Wild closer, though he made a protesting noise, “Cub had never seen me before, was scared at the noise but tried to scare back, like a cub.”
“Listen,” Wild pushed at the muscular arm holding him captive, a few of the heroes starting to laugh at the futile attempt, “You roared first! What else was I supposed to do!”
“Run maybe?” Legend piped up, only for Hyrule to push him.
“Shut up, it’s storytime.”
“Fae is right,” Alex nodded, playfully glaring at the Veteran, “tell your story next, pink one.”
Legend made an offended noise, only to be silenced by Twilight wrapping a hand over his mouth.
“Old Hylian never came to help, Cub stayed where he was. I started to get worried. Cubs don’t last long alone, so I helped. Took him to a safe place and started caring for him, taught him basics of hunting and healing,” Alex again laughed, rubbing a hand over Wild’s head and messing up his hair, “Reckless Cub, leaving for so long.”
“Hey! I’m sorry okay!” Wild shouted, trying to escape the paw on his head with little success, though he looked happy rather than upset.
“Wait, so are all Lynels nice here then?” Sky asked, only for Wild and Alex to shake their heads, stopping their fooling around.
“Cub was lucky to find me, few others would see him as harmless.”
“I had just woken up when I found Alex, I didn’t know much of anything besides my name,” Wild leaned back into Alex’s side then, a fond smile on his face, “The Old Hylian was the ghost of the King but… I’m glad that I barely interacted with him.”
“I take it you remembered him then,” Time spoke up.
“Yeah, I always came back here after I regained a memory. Alex was always willing to just be there for me when I wasn’t ready to talk to Sidon or Impa or anyone.”
“And I’ll always be here for you, Cub.”
Alex smiled, holding Wild close. It was sweet, especially if you looked past Alex’s semi-threatening appearance. The rest of the group seemed satisfied that they wouldn’t be harmed by Alex either, lowering their guard and moving closer to the pair by the fire.
“Now then,” Alex spoke up once everyone was nearer, smiling with a fanged grin as their sharp green eyes locked onto Legend, “the pink one has a story to tell.”
“No, I don’t! I’m sorry I interrupted you!” Legend pleaded, Warriors already nudging him to start telling a story already, Wind joining in as the rest laughed.
“Now you know better, pink cub.”
“Wait, cub?” Twilight questioned, “I thought Wild was Cub.”
“All my cubs now,” Alex looked fond, a rumbling almost purring sound followed their words, “all of you are cubs, close to my cub makes you my cubs too.”
