I don’t know. Maybe I mis-read the story, but I felt like the Ahsoka series wasn’t necessarily anti-Jedi. It felt more like Ahsoka finally accepted that she could actually be a Jedi after years of her believing that she was unworthy of doing that, and thereby giving her the right to pass on what she learned.
To preface, I do think her lineage had a problem with following rules. Obviously. Even Yoda broke rules when he went off on his trippy force adventure with Qui-Gon in the sixth season of TCW. It wasn’t that they all went against the Jedi teachings (save Anakin… which I won’t get into right now; I would possibly even argue for Dooku, but he was misguided and definitely did not go about anything in the right way), they just didn’t follow protocol. Most of them at least embraced Jedi philosophy (once again, save Anakin). They often broke rules and protocol loudly, but I can appreciate that as someone who hates the status quo and stringent rules. I say this to partially explain why Ahsoka often butted heads with Huyang about Jedi protocol. It’s not Jedi critical on a philosophical level as much as it is critiquing the protocols.
Now with that being said, let me talk about Ahsoka... Particularly, where Ahsoka was in her series and how that changes by the end of it:
Ahsoka struggled with the fact that she’d been trained as a soldier. Jedi were not soldiers; they were peace keepers. Ahsoka says as much to Rex on the Venator right before Order 66 was executed. She was incredibly torn by this. Ultimately, I believe it’s what caused her to leave the order in the first place. She listened to the words Barriss said, and agreed wholeheartedly. She couldn’t be part of the order as she was not a Jedi, but a warrior. It’s not that she didn’t want to be a Jedi, she DID want to be a Jedi. She just felt as if she no longer knew how to do that, or perhaps, couldn’t do that based on what she’d been doing.
It’s the main thing that she is stuck on when she had her flashbacks with Anakin in the World-Between-Worlds dream state. She struggled with her past. She was unable to reconcile the actions that she was forced to take during the war with her Jedi training that specifically told her not to do that. She mentioned that it wasn’t what she trained for, and by the time she was fighting the Siege of Mandalore, she only saw herself as a fighter. And, it’s something you saw in her character at the beginning of her series. She’s quick to draw her blades and come at you. She does not hesitate to fight Baylon at the reflex point on Seetos. It had unbalanced her, and that’s why she lost the fight.
Anakin basically told her that she’s more than just a warrior. All of the knowledge that came before him, the wisdom of Yoda, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, lived on through her. She was part of a legacy. Still, she struggled because of what Anakin became, and was hesitant to share the knowledge that she possessed in fear of planting dark seeds. It’s why he told her that she lacked conviction. In Rebels, Ahsoka was trying to convince everyone including herself that she was not a Jedi, and it was a culmination of all of her trauma. This was the moment that she must live (and let it go of said trauma), or die and literally drown with it.
In the end, Ahsoka chose to live, and the white robes weren’t the only thing about her that had changed. In her second battle with Baylon, she’s not as quick to draw her blades. She’s more worried about finding Ezra and Sabine. It’s not that she was completely unwilling to fight, but the fight wasn’t what it is all about. She mentioned this to Sabine as well when she told her that “being a Jedi is more than just wielding a lightsaber.” Ahsoka released the trauma, and embraced her Jedi past. It was not explicitly stated, but it definitely felt implied.

You know what i just realised??? The Dooku apprenticeship line is LITERALLY REPEATING.
Sabine is such an homage to Anakin, she doesnt listen to her master, has authority issues, she thinks with her heart more than her head like when she left Ahsoka's ship to go look at the map alone because to her finding Ezra was more important than 'preventing a war'. Sounds like someone?? And a version of this trait is present in all the padawans since Qui-gon.
Ignorant at first: We all know about Anakin but even Obi wan was a stuck up, he wanted to follow the orders of the Council more than he heard what his master had to say.
Humility after loss: But after Qui Gon died he became humble, just like how Ahsoka was a miscreant who, when she was young, wanted to complete missions regardless of Anakin's advice but grew up to be more thoughtful of her surroundings and appreciated her master's words better after she lost him.
Feelings over Training: Ahsoka couldnt finish her training like Anakin couldnt finish his padawan's. But theres a relation to Obi Wan too. I think in a way Obi Wan couldnt complete Anakin's training either. Because the War got in the way.
The Clone Wars highlighted multiple times that a war was no time for a padawan like Ahsoka to learn how to become a jedi. The jedi had to choose sides (but thats a whole another debate) so Ahsoka learned to become a soldier first, jedi second.
But that was the same for Anakin too in some respect. Obi Wan couldnt teach him how to be a jedi knight and help him deal with his fears about Padme at the same time. It wasnt his fault, Obi Wan was a great master (Anakin DID become one of the most powerful jedi ever), but he couldnt teach Anakin to let go like he let go of Satine. (Im not gonna dive into my thoughts about whether Obi wan was right)
But that circles back to Sabine through Ahsoka. Even though her training was incomplete, she became a great warrior, and, alongside Obi Wan, is considered the perfect example of what the Jedi ahould be even though shes called more of a Grey Jedi. But it shows that she had more Obi Wan in her while Sabine has more of Anakin. Its also a point that Sabine is not force sensitive which is why she naturally leans more on her instinct and feelings rather than training.
Sabine at this point resembles the lineage just like Ahsoka resembled her master when she was first introduced. I hope that we see Sabine and Ahsoka connect again and have a meaningful journey. Shes a great character and her initiative call to Ahsoka to tell her thats shes ready, tells a lot about how she can be a good apprentice.

EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF THIS WAS SUCH A FUCKING BANGER. Baylan Skoll is reading exactly what Ahsoka fears and sets up this vision for her, that he says her legacy is one of death and destruction--which hurls her into a vision-slash-flashback of the clone wars, where she felt like this is all she learned as a Jedi, because this is what the galaxy was when she was growing up in it. That this is Anakin--or Ahsoka's own mind using Anakin as a proxy, because she STILL emotionally and mentally sees him as the one who teaches her, even if it's not really him, she imagines it to be him, because he's her Master, the one who taught her what she needs to know--but also this is the center of everything she can't let go of, all the hurt and fear and loss, it's all tangled up in Anakin and what he became. That she loves him and fears him in the same breath, that she remembers the good, the charming young man who was teaching her how to survive, who gave everything he had to her, while also remembering what he became, that he was so powerful that he became the worst nightmare the galaxy had ever seen, that neither of these is the whole of who he is, that he is all of this and more. He isn't just Anakin Skywalker, he's also Darth Vader. He isn't just Darth Vader, he's also Anakin Skywalker. He isn't just Anakin and Vader, he's also everything of Obi-Wan, of Qui-Gon, of Dooku, of Yoda--and she has to learn to accept that the same is true of her, too. The potential for tremendous darkness lurks in all their hearts, that's what the Jedi teach. No one is above the dark side. No one is above fear and clinging on and holding too tight. It's a lifelong journey not to give in to those things and you are so much more than just any one moment or even any one aspect. Yes, if she's everything he is, then she does have the potential to become the same kind of nightmare of death and destruction that he did, just as she fears. It's why she's held herself back from the galaxy, from the Ghost crew, from Sabine especially, because she's afraid, and only agreed to train Sabine in the first place because whatever abilities she has, they're so low Sabine can't become another Vader. Grogu does have the potential to become another Vader. Ahsoka does have the potential to become another Vader. She has killed many and destroyed so much. But that's not all she is. She's also saved so many lives. She also gently tucked Roo Roo Page back into her mother's arms. She also taught Petro and Katooni and Gungi and Zatt and Byph about how to get their crystals. She also saved Kaeden's life. She also protected Ezra from Vader. She's all those things, plus more, just as Anakin was all the things he was and more, too. Baylan was right that part of her legacy is death and destruction, but he's a dark sider, he lies and twists the truth, and the truth is--Ahsoka Tano, like every Jedi before her, is more than just one part of her legacy.

I've decided I don't like the "disaster lineage" thing, I never really have, so I'm creating some new "lineage" names to better represent the way I interpret the characters.
The "infinite lineage" includes: Yoda, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Luke, and Rey.
I chose "infinite lineage" to reference how this lineage in particular is the one through which the Jedi Order keeps continuing on despite everything and everyone trying to wipe them off the map entirely. This is the lineage that PERSEVERES, that stays the course, that refuses to let the Jedi way of life die.
The "insidious lineage" includes: Palpatine, Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Ahsoka show version of Sabine.
This is the lineage that destroys, the one that passes on Sith teachings through subtle manipulation, slowly eroding the parts of its lineage that were once Jedi until what's left is just a sad pitiful little shell of selfishness and very little else. You can include characters like Dooku, Maul, Savage, and Ventress in here as well, though obviously these are all different branches stemming from Palpatine rather than one nice unbroken line, but the same general concept still applies. Anything good that used to exist in some of these people is just slowly chipped away by darkness until nothing's left of the people they used to be.

no but actually I love messing with the disaster lineage. like. yeah, what if Dooku was Obi-Wan's master? What if Qui-Gon was Anakin's master? what if Obi-Wan did end up being Ahsoka's master? let's add on to it. Dooku as Asajj's Master. Asajj as Ahsoka's master. Rael as Obi-Wan's master. Anakin as Rael's padawan. Ky Narec as Dooku's padawan. Sabine as Anakin's padawan. Luke as Qui-Gon's padawan. Yoda as Obi-Wan's master. Ahsoka as Yoda's padawan. feel free to keep adding on to it the possibilities are almost endless

We all know that the Dooku-Qui Gon-Obi Wan-Anakin-Ahsoka-Sabine training lineage is the disaster lineage and the Mace-Depa-Kanan-Ezra is the shatterpoint lineage. May I submit for fandom approval calling the Luke-Leia-Ben-Rey-Grogu-Finn (Finn's a jedi in my heart ok?) lineage the "What's a jedi?" lineage. Only one of them arguably received formal jedi training and half of them learned what jedi were like last week.

Some more scenarios I would want in a Star Wars What If? series:
Confirmed Korkie Kenobi (because the only place this would get confirmed would be an alternate universe)
Instead of the Children of the Watch Din gets rescued by the Nite Owls
Obi-Wan falls to the Dark after Satine’s death
Obi-Wan falls to the Dark after Qui-Gon’s death
Obi-Wan as someone else’s padawan
Marshal Commander Fox of the 7th Sky Corps and Commander Cody of the Coruscant Guard
Anakin believes Fives about the chips (their existence, not the Chancellor being behind them)
Qui-Gon survives Naboo
Secret Rebel from the beginning Ursa Wren
Sidious dies from Dark Side corruption before he can enact his plan.
Coleman Trebor manages to defeat Dooku at Geonosis
Sar Labooda survives Geonosis (let baby Caleb have an aunt dammit!)
Sabine actually manages to destroy all the data on the Duchess the first time
Ezra’s second lightsaber is also a gunsaber
Dooku chickens out before he can kill Sifo-Dyas
Jango Fett survives Geonosis
The New Mandalorians are an actual entity in Rebels
Kanan realizes Leia’s Force-sensitive during “A Princess on Lothal”
The detonator remote works at Rishi base
Fives is the one blown up at the Citadel while Echo gets away
Someone other than Chopper follows Ezra to Tatooine
Crosshair’s chip malfunctions like the rest of the Batch
A different Bad Batcher’s chip activates
Force-Sensitive Jar Jar Binks
Mother Talzin makes a deal with the Jedi instead of the Sith
Marshal Commander Rex of the 7th Sky Corps and Captain Cody of the 501st
Bariss gets caught before she can successfully frame Ahsoka
The Death Star malfunctions upon its first full-power firing (Alderaan).

Ahsoka Rant: Colors and Fallen Jedi
It's Saturday, so I finally have time to sit down and write this analysis for Ahsoka that I've wanted to do on the importance of colors in Star Wars, and how it directly correlates to Ahsoka and explains the title for episode 4: Fallen Jedi.
Star Wars has always identified the hero and the villain of the show through colors and costuming. Anyone can walk into a Star Wars movie and without any other context identify the good and the bad guy based on the fact that the good guy wears light colors and the bad guy wears dark.
Don't believe me.
Phantom Menace:
Tumblr media
Attack of the Clones:
Tumblr media
Revenge of the Sith:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A New Hope:
Tumblr media
The Empire Strikes Back:
Tumblr media
We see this light vs dark costuming choice in most Star Wars media. Our biggest exceptions are:
Anakin: After the Phantom Menace Anakin is always in dark colors. And even then his costume takes a gradual change to Darth Vaders full black.
Tumblr media
(Attack of the Clones vs Revenge of the Sith. You can see his costume gets darker)
Tumblr media
Luke: In Return of the Jedi, when he is close to giving into the dark side.
Tumblr media
And now Ahsoka (up til ep. 5):
Tumblr media
What is soooo interesting about the first 4 episodes of the Ahsoka show, is that you can't identify the good and the bad guys just by looking at their costumes. Everyone in the scene above is wearing dark colors. And they are all shades of grey.
The purpose of ep. 4: Fallen Jedi is to show that every Jedi we have seen up to this point in the show is a Fallen Jedi. They all carry aspects of the Jedi, but none of them are true Jedi.
Lets start with Baylan and Shin. The first time we are introduced to them mirrors the first time we are introduced to Qui-Gon and Obi Wan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoods over their heads, mysterious, walking side by side. Exactly how we know the Jedi to typically appear. Obi Wan and Anakin, even Luke, all typically enter a new area this way.
I would describe Baylan as Lawful Evil. He still believes in the practices of the Jedi, but not the Jedi code. He has Shin wear an apprentice braid
Tumblr media
They stay together so he can teach her at all time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he keeps his word to Sabine.
But his morals reflect that of Vader. And his fight to rescue Morgan Elsebeth mirrors Vader fighting the Rebels at the end of Rogue One/ beginning of A New Hope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most interesting aspect of this duo is the Shin has the lightest costume of the two (It's also lighter than Ahsoka and Sabine's costumes). It is closer in design and color to the typical Jedi outfit, while Baylan still wears Clone Wars armor.
Tumblr media
Baylan is the Jedi who fell during the Clone Wars. He feels he only knows how to destroy to create something better. Shin is still an apprentice, doing purely what her master tells her, and could go either way in the force. Her costuming suggests that her fate could swing and Ahsoka and Sabine could sway her away from the dark side. Either way, they have both certainly fallen from the Jedi Path.
Ahsoka is also fallen Jedi. Soon after meeting Ahsoka again we get this exchange between her and Hyuang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ahsoka flat out tells us that she doesn't follow Jedi protocol. Though those of us who know Ahsoka from the Clone War know that this is literally nothing new. AND THAT'S THE POINT. Ahsoka was taught a mix of the Jedi code and a Warrior code, because that's what Anakin had to teach her to keep her alive. Ahsoka has been a fallen Jedi since the accusation that caused her to leave.
Unlike Baylan, Ahsoka doesn't follow standard Jedi teaching practices. Sabine doesn't have an apprentice braid. They don't stick together
Tumblr media
And even when they are together, Ahsoka keeps a purposeful distance, like she's afraid of the responsibility.
Tumblr media
And like Baylan, her outfit mimics her Clone Wars armor (from season 7)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baylan even directly addresses this to Ahsoka. That she only knows how to fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Jedi should know other ways, other options. But all Baylan and Ahsoka know is how to fight. (Which is why Anakin's lesson to Ahsoka in ep.5 is soo important. Look forward to another rant from yours truly on it more in depth.)
Knowing that Ahsoka has been a fallen Jedi for such a long time, seeing her in her fallen Jedi state, makes her transition to Ahsoka the White in ep. 5 so much more powerful, because seeing the main character finally in light colors tells us what we knew all along. That there is sooo much good in Ahsoka, just like there was good in her master before her, and his before him, etc. And we finally get to see Ahsoka in live action not as the fallen Jedi who has been picking and choosing her responsibilities, but as the Jedi Ahsoka is. With so much love, compassion, and kindness. I'm so excited to have the Ahsoka that we all know and love back!

Okay, one complaint I keep seeing about ahsoka (and to an extent the rest of disney SW) that I disagree with is this claim of "lightsabers don't kill anyone anymore"
Or "only Qui-Gon dies from a lightsaber"
Specifically referring to being stabbed by a lightsaber
And let's just examine this shall we?
First, all of the persons who survived a lightsaber stab were stabbed in the stomach/lower abdomen
That's a survivable injury irl
Here's some fiction 101 for ya: when you want to seriously injure a character, like near death injure, but don't want to actually kill them, you go for the lower abdomen
(for example: Weiss, Blake, and Hazel in RWBY)
Actually, a lightsaber stab to the lower abdomen might be more survivable, since lightsabers cauterize wounds
Now, let's take a look at our stab survivors specifically, we have Reva, the Grand Inquisitor, Sabine, and kylo ren
That's 4 characters, hardly "no one can die of a lightsaber anymore"
But why did they survive?
Well, out of universe the explanation is these are major characters, they can't die because that's the narrative
And for these 4 characters who survive, there's numerous minor/background/secondary characters who die from lightsaber stabbing
But let's examine the in universe reasons they survived shall we?
The Grand Inquisitor and Reva are dark siders, it is well established by now that through rage dark siders can cling to life even through worse injuries
But we can also assume from the "text" that Reva and the GI received medical attention rather quickly, the fact that Vader had the GI with him, alive and well, implies he personally intervened to save his life
And Reva was left alone in the Hidden Path base, which was established in Part IV to have a medical facility, she could have easily used it to self administer care
(And regarding her surviving Anakin's mass shooting, well rage keeping her alive still applies, as does medical supplies, but also it's possible that Anakin didn't take the time to make sure all the kids he killed were dead)
More importantly, Kenobi does a tremendous amount of legwork to establish that lightsaber stabbing to the lower abdomen is survivable
It starts by stabbing the Grand Inquisitor, a character who shows up later in the timeline (which everyone ignored for baseless stupid clone/zombie theories)
And when Reva is stabbed at the end of part V, the episode had already established in flashbacks that she had survived this injury before
Now let's cover kyle
He didn't actually survive
Because Rey healed him
Was it stupid that she did that? Yes, but not because it's impossible, it was stupid because why would she do this
And then we have sabine (rip to Rebels sabine, you weren't my favorite, but you weren't unbearable)
This one actually relates to why Qui-Gon couldn't survive
Sabine got medical attention soon after stabbing, Qui-Gon did not
Rewatch Phantom Menace, take note of what happens after Qui-Gon is stabbed
1. Obi-Wan and maul glare at each other through a force field for an undetermined amount of time
2. Obi-Wan and Maul duel for a few minutes
3. Obi-Wan spends an undetermined amount of time hanging over a bottomless pit
4. Obi-Wan defeats Maul
5. Qui-Gon has some last words with Obi-Wan
6. Qui-Gon dies
Maybe if he had received medical attention immediately he would have survived
And ultimately, the reason Qui-Gon dies is the same reason lightsabers are more fatal to minor characters
The narrative, Qui-Gon needs to be gone so Obi-Wan will be the one who trains Anakin, and thus he dies

this is going to be such a long post but i have so many thoughts so i’m sorry.
-it’s the way anakin Knows what ahsoka is going through. he Knows what it’s like to watch your padawan walk away from the jedi. sabine went against everything she was taught as a jedi for ezra. she essentially walked away from it when faced with how much it hurts to be selfless. anakin watched ahsoka do it. he knows the path that leads down. the path of hatred for the very thing that brought you comfort and identity. he Needs her to not go down that path.
-the disaster lineage. as fun as it is to joke about how insane that lineage is, it’s a very painful one. and one that was a perfect storm to create anakin.
you have qui-gon watch his master fall to the dark side which results in him teaching his padawan the strict jedi way. no connections, no fear, no worry. and then he takes a boy from his mother to serve this severe trust in the jedi. a trust that obi-wan continues to honor the master he watched die in his arms.
and what are we left with. a scared, traumatized anakin, who can’t work through anything with his new support system. because jedi Don’t feel that. and the one person he can express emotions to, his wife, he can’t be with, he can’t protect.
he watched his padawan slip through his fingers, he’s convinced his wife will die. what is he to do? Let It Go.
the force is everywhere. the light is in everything and everyone. so is the darkness. and the darkness stalked this doomed line until the chosen one presented themself. anakin was doomed by his line, by the force. it was never going to change.
-and omg how must ahsoka feel. she comes from this line of pain and darkness and death. she’s the legacy of good intentions turned bad. doomed jedi who lose everything. why would she want to continue that. how could she. and she’s carrying this weight with her since she was 14. she’s tired. she wants to stop. so anakin gives her a choice. life or death? light or dark? become what she’s doomed to? what sabine’s doomed to? or break the cycle. and she did.
-also i hope she never takes that headband off again 😟

Ahsoka Episode 1 Rant/Spoilers
This is a pretty dramatic rant, I don't normally express my feelings this vehemently on here, so please don't take this overly seriously. But I had to get this out 🫣
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT! DO NOT SCROLL IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE EPISODE YET! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
*Deep breath* I am NOT OKAY with Star Wars making it normal now for people, humans, to survive a lightsaber stab to the stomach/gut/torso area. It completely undermines Qui Gon’s death which is what sets in motion the entire freaking saga. I guess this will be me coming out as the Phantom Menace lover as I am, but Qui-Gon and TPM seriously have such a special place in my heart, and the importance of its place as the chronological beginning of the movie saga, the importance of Qui-Gon's death specifically in the lives of Obi-Wan, Anakin, Maul, and therefore the fate of the rest of the galaxy, cannot be overstated. Reva surviving the same kind of blow, Sabine surviving the same kind of blow (yes I know hers was a little to the right, but it's still the same concept), while it doesn't lessen Qui-Gon's sacrifice, just makes it all look rather silly.
(Not to mention Satine dying by the same kind of stroke either. Not to mention the effects that had on the narrative and important characters either.)
I accepted it with the Grand Inquisitor in Kenobi bc A. We knew he survived already, and B. He was a different species with different anatomy. I also somewhat begrudgingly accepted it with Reva later, because its effects on her were not neglected, and for whatever reason it worked for the plot and made the stakes feel higher. Still wish it had been some other sort of injury that made us think she might die, but I was willing to overlook it.
But again? Again with the making lightsaber stabs a paltry affair that have no consequences? When it was obvious both at the beginning (Phantom Menace) and end (Force Awakens) that people should NOT BE ABLE TO SURVIVE THAT. Heck, Baylon uses the same move in the beginning of the episode and it is clearly stated the Captain he uses it on is dead immediately! But Sabine just walks around casually a day or two later? Showing very little need for recovery and it all seeming like "just a flesh wound", cauterization or not? What the hell Dave????
I'm not saying I wanted Reva or Sabine to die. I'm saying please for the love of all things Star Wars pick a different body part to wound/end a fight with!! That's all I'm asking *sobs*
The ONLY good thing about that kind of move, is that stabbing and slashing moves are more in line with how a lightsaber type weapon would be used in real life/the historical weapons they are based on, rather than the typical parry/block moves we see in lightsaber fights. But, I still don't think this is the way to use it.
*okay, rant over. Thanks for letting me get that out ya'll*

(Weird lightsaber headcannon) CW TUSKEN RAIDER MASSACARE IN AOTC
I think all Kyber crystals want to like, help their owner emotionally, and somewhat think like their owner. That's how anakin still somehow had a blue saber instead of red through the clone wars and most of the prequels. Since the jedi and the crystals work as partners, maybe the crystal was telling him to stop, and calming him down? Didn't work either way, Tusken genocide still happened.
Racist anakin with racist kyber crystal /j
That's... one way to view the kyber crystals.
I don't think I've ever really seen them as quite that sentient, personally. I know that the Jedi do connect with the crystals in the cave, obviously, but we also know that the Jedi are perfectly capable of using spare lightsabers when necessary and seem to just have spares lying around since they bring two to Geonosis to hand off to Anakin and Obi-Wan in the arena (and it's very lucky that they had two since theoretically none of the Jedi who showed up would have known Anakin would be there given he was literally ordered not to be there). They don't KEEP those lightsabers, but they work for both Obi-Wan and Anakin just fine throughout that entire battle and the battle with Dooku later. Anakin fucks with Ahsoka's lightsabers and apparently either puts in totally new crystals or changes them enough to make them blue and Ahsoka seems perfectly fine with this. Obi-Wan even uses one of Ventress's sabers with seeming ease when he has to fight Maul and Savage. Luke uses that same saber that massacred the Tuskens and the Jedi and never seems to have any issues.
So I don't know that the crystals necessarily SPEAK to their owners.
I think I tend to see them more as like... reflections of their owners in as much as the Jedi spend a lot of time meditating with the sabers and using them while in situations where emotions are high. And just like those kinds of things can literally bleed into the walls around you (like Leia being able to feel echoes of Maul and his fight with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in the Naboo hangar literal decades later), it can also bleed into the kyber crystals. I don't think it necessarily changes the saber much physically, they're not mood rings and so far nothing in canon has gone against the concept of bleeding a kyber crystal to make it red which requires a lot more intentional action, but it can impact what another Force user feels when they pick it up.
This is why my personal headcanon for the Darksaber is that it's sort-of absorbed some Mandalorian values via all of the Mandalorians who have wielded it since Tarre Viszla. It's still a kyber crystal that was chosen and wielded by a Jedi first above all else, so there is always an element of facing your fears involved in wielding the Darksaber correctly, but that the duel is ALSO still necessary because of how long it's been in Mandalorian hands and had that little caveat built into it. Most Jedi could PROBABLY wield it relatively well, but it would never feel like THEIRS until they won it in combat anymore. Similarly, none of the Mandalorians really seem to connect to it much aside from Sabine herself who is, to date, the only Mandalorian to ever actually go through facing her fears as part of her journey towards wielding the Darksaber. She's the only Mandalorian since Tarre to have earned that kyber crystal the Jedi way, and that's also still necessary.
So you can imbue some of yourself into that kyber crystal, but it's not going to turn a blue crystal red just because you kill a bunch of people with it. Anakin's saber killed a lot of innocent people, but he technically did use it while he identified as a Jedi and used it to help people, too. When Luke picks it up, he's mostly untrained and theoretically by the time he's trained enough to start feeling shit, he's already imbued some of his own self into the crystal. It might've even picked up on some of Obi-Wan's own balance and serenity and compassion over the years in Tatooine, even if he never actively used it. I don't think the crystal itself gets damaged because Anakin is often a shitheel while he's using the saber it powers. The crystal is fine.
I don't think kyber crystals are sentient, they don't truly have wills of their own. For the most part, they're just crystals. Think of it more as a conduit. Some things are better conduits for electricity than others; the kyber crystals are perhaps better conduits for the Force than your average brick, but it doesn't make them sentient.

- Jango had Boba and Omega
- Rex and Cody are brothers, they're boba and omega's cousins
- the bad batch(quintuplets) + domino twins are brothers and are boba and omega's first cousin once removed (so Jango's aunt/uncle's kids)
- pretty much everyone in the fett family joins the military to some degree
-Bd-1 is Cal's small dog, C3P0 is a golden retriever (or possibly a service dog for Ani due to childhood trauma) and R2 is a cat (maybe a tuxedo), Chewwie is one of those big super fluffy dogs, Chopper is a ginger cat, and Jar Jar is Padme's overly excitable yippy dog (couldn't decide on a breed)
- Hera and Kanan eventually adopt a wolf dog they name Dume, Chopper hates sharing attention
- Kanan adopts Ezra
- Sabine is related to Bo-Katan and Satine (somehow, I know she's the same clan so extended family!)
- After meeting clan Wren (I am writing this as I watch Rebels) I have decided Ursa was Satine and Bo-Katan's adpoted first cousin once removed
- Hera is totally Airforce, like I feel like that's the closest to her role in rebels, her and Kanan met in highschool
- their song, which later became their first dance at their wedding, is "Ain't no mountain high enough"
- Zeb is another friend of theirs from highschool, he was a year or two younger
- Zeb is a security guard, Ezra is an animal conservationist (see him and Loth wolves), his parents had a radio show where they talked about endangered species
- Kanan is a firefighter (because irony) and Cal is an elementary school teacher who is in charge of his school's fencing club
- in this au Kanan's injury comes from a job, once he's blinded he joins Ezra in his work
- Cere is a highschool music teacher, Merin is a history teacher who also has an elective cultures course, and Greez is a freelance pilot who's business is definitely totally 100% legal(/s aka he takes some shady jobs)
- Cere and Greez are neighbors, Merin works at the same school as Cere, and she meets Cal through her
- Din obviously adopts Grogu at some point, and Luke volunteers at the temple's Sunday school which is where he meets them(???)
- I feel like Luke would own a martial arts school, Leia becomes a politician like her mum, Anakin would be a robotics engineer
- Satine is prime Minister of Mandalore, Bo- Katan is either military or lawyer (she strikes me as the lawyer type), Sabine was going to join the military but ended up pursuing an artistic career, Korki wants to go into politics like his aunt
- Mandalore works like the u.s where it's a bunch of small countries a trench coat, except they're more functional... mostly
- Obi wan is either a social worker (helping other kids like Anakin) or some kind of diplomat, he only became a diplomat cause he took a few classes to spend more time with a cute international student *cough* Satine *cough* and found he was good at diplomacy
- Plo Koon and Ahsoka are body guards/ security, Plo has his own company, Ahsoka started as being in charge of marketing (I consulted my mom for Ahsoka's job and she suggested marketing because she's so bubbly)

Just watched the 5th episode of Ahsoka,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this is one of the best episodes of Star Wars I have ever witnessed. The use of Anakin in The World Between Worlds was brilliant, as it serves as a great character study for Ahsoka. Using the World Between Worlds to flashback to the Clone Wars was neat, but also served as a parallel between Ahsoka as an apprentice and Sabine as an apprentice. A lot of new information about the World Between Worlds was dropped in this, as it seems like a place where all Jedi go when they're dying, created from the Force. With Anakin saying "Either you live, or die." I think it means each Jedi can choose whether they live or become a Force Ghost. My minds just racing about all the Jedi who probably passed through here. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Yoda, probably Luke from the sequels went here.
Jacen is also a standout in this episode, as it is revealed that he is very Force sensitive like his father, Kanan. He shows that he's able to sense the World Between Worlds, as well as Ahsoka and Anakin fighting inside of it. I wonder if he'll become a future Jedi.
Ahsoka connecting to the purrgil was an excellent callback to Rebels, and also a very creative use of their abilities by flying right into it's mouth to utilize it's hyperactive. I'm excited where the next episode will lead!

I love the idea of two branches of Jedi school emerging from this era. The typical Jedi Standard school under Luke Skywalker.
And then the atypical doesn't follow the Standard Jedi Protocol 'school' if you could call it a 'school' under a reluctant Ahsoka Tano, which also has a Shatterpoint Lineage branch with Ezra.
If you think about it too, Ahsoka and Luke are heads of different branches of the same lineage. Luke studied under Obi-Wan and then Yoda, but Ahsoka has a clear line from Anakin to Ahsoka to Sabine.
I love the idea of two schools, like two martial arts styles branching off into two different directions.
I can see the one that goes after Ahsoka's line wouldn't just be in one school but a traveling one.
It would certainly make things more interesting.
Also, it's like the First Foundation and the Second Foundation from the Foundation series (show, not books, since I'm unfamiliar with them).
Technically then the Lineage goes:
Yoda -> Dooku -> Qui-Gon Jinn -> Obi Wan Kenobi -> Anakin Skywalker - > Ahsoka Tano - > Sabine Wren
But also:
Yoda -> Obi-Wan -> Luke Skywalker -> Leia Organa -> Rey
-> Ben Solo/Kylo

Live thoughts during Ahsoka Ep 1!!
THE SCROLL OH MY GOD
Wow wow this feels so star wars wow wow I love it
What a love letter to star wars in just the first 3 minutes
Oh no I’m crying at the title screen
SHE LOOKS SO GOOD 😭😭😭
Oh my god when she pulled her hood back and the swell of her theme played 😭😭😭
She did the circle thing!
Only Jedi would hear a stone talking to them and be totally calm about it
Also only Jedi would caress said stone lol
She plays Ahsoka’s cautious curiosity so well
Noice she found the golden snitch
Oh my god how funny would it be if she fell into he hole
OH MY GOD hahahahah
Ugh what a cool sequence
Admittedly, I’d love to see them give more opportunities for Ahsoka’s “Snips” to come out, but this Ahsoka hits me very much as older, calmer, wisened, and taking on more of Obi-Wan’s teachings than Anakin’
GENERAL!!!! SYNDULLA!!!!
Definitely one of the unrealistic expectations I struggle with is the voice matching of the characters - like MEW looks AMAZING as Hera, but her voice isn’t an exact match and that’s something I need to get over because her performance is great
On that note, I think Rosario sounds like wisened Ahsoka from TCW S7
WOW LOTHAL LOOKS GREAT
UGH THE CAVE PAINTING BEING USED AS A MONUMENT
Lol Sabine amazing move
Sabine’s intro was so Sabine oh my god
I need to cuddle that lothcat immediately where do I get the plushie
“You’re like a sister to me” ugh in the feels (smooth cover Ezra we all know what you really wanted to say)
ELSBETH IS A NIGHTSISTER?!? OH FUCK YEAH
Now my clown energy is manifesting live action Asajj (not in this show just at some point)
The wind being an amazing scene partner for Sabine on that platform with Ahsoka
“I go where I’m needed” that’s some Echo energy right there
“Maker I need to apologize to Anakin’s force ghost” Ahsoka probably anytime Sabine counters her
Ok but seriously where do I find a retractable table I need that for my tiny ass apartment
Getting “Darth Maul” on Tattooine vibes with Shin on Lothal
Hera still being the mom of the crew
Nice tribute to when Hera would talk Kanan through his parenting challenges
Is this the first time we’re getting a live action hologram conversation?? That’s so cool!
Really love that it’s Sabine’s art mind that helps her solve the puzzle. Not the force. Not technology. Her eye as an artist.
Yas hop off Sabine you Mandalorian baddy!!!
CAN PEOPLE PLEASE STOP GETTING STABBED WITH LIGHTSABERS
every time someone survives a lightsaber stab how pissed do you think Qui-Gon’s force ghost gets
