X-Men '97 S1E7 "Bright Eyes"

Phenomenal episode exploring Rogue's greif after the disaster in Genosha. Lenore Zann's performance in this episode is beyond amazing. Had me tearing up a couple of times throughout the episode. The action in this episode is especially top notch, very well animated (especially Rogue's first action scene) and using everyone's abilities to the fullest. The only thing I can't make sense of is the final scene. I'm not really familiar with this season's villain, Bastion, so I'm not really sure what's happening in that scene. But other than that, great episode.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch S3E13 "Into the Breach"

Very high tension episode split bewtween the two stories of Omega and the rest of the Bad Batch. The story of Omega in this I feel is really reminiscent of the prison break arc of Andor, which isn't a bad thing, it just shows how many story beats rhyme within Star Wars. The same can be said about the rest of the Bad Batch in this episode, where it felt like "A New Hope" in some places, infiltrating a base to get coordinates. With two episodes left, I wonder how things will wrap up.

It does not take a priest to see you and Rogue's souls touch in every gaze.

X-Men '97 "Lifedeath, Pt. 2"

This show never fails to amaze me. I have read Lifedeath now in-between these two parts released, and while it's not one to one accurate to the comic, it is still as emotionally satisfying as it. Storm's rebirth scene is probably one of the most epic and well written scenes in this show (one of many), and signifying her rebirth by switching back to her iconic 70's costume is just brilliant. This episode also marks the return of Charles Xavier, who was with Lilandra so she can cure him. I knew he was alive, I just wonder why the rest of the X-Men thought he was dead. Charles was so well written here, too. Pretty much damning the Shi'ar and their colonialism. I look forward how all of this will coalesce in the next episode.

Madame Web (2024) Review

I don't even know why Sony is just keeping on making these Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man. At least with Venom, he built an identity away from Spider-Man so I can possibly see solo movies being made of him. But Morbius or the topic of this movie, Madame Web, have never had solo comics. They are strictly supporting characters and cannot sustain a single film themselves, they aren't interesting enough for that.

I do admit, I did have slight hope when I heard the director of the film is the same director from some Netflix MCU shows, S.J. Clarkson. Hoping that some of her competent directing would at least make this somewhat watchable, but no, the writing and editing in this is so terrible that it doesn't matter who directed this.

The writing in this is just atrocious, and the characters they chose to be in this make the whole Spider-Man universe feel so damn contrived. Like Cassandra Webb being friends with Ben Parker sounds like something that would happen in a bad fan fiction, not a Hollywood produced film.

Not to mention, this is probably one of the most boring action movies I've ever watched. When something exciting does happen, it ends up being a vision. Not only does it make it really hard to get invested in the plot and these characters, but it also ruins the pacing of this movie.

The villain of the movie, Ezekiel, is just so bland, and looks nothing like his comic counterpart (except for one split second in a vision). Much like most of the cast in this, a lot of them are bland and none of them talk like actual human beings.

I really hope Sony stops with these. No one wants these movies. These movies are just a transparent ploy to keep the movie rights of Spider-Man away from Marvel, which they deserve the rights to.

I can't tell you how much I love Wonder Woman (2017). Every time I rewatch it I'm reminded why I fell in love with it when I first saw it in theaters. It reminds me to be a better person when the world makes me lose hope.
