personally I like to think that the words pr'Ut and sot'l both exist in Kardasi the same way that dick and cock do in English, and that there are similar debates among Cardassian erotica lovers over which one is preferable

As much fun as it is to read and reread the same wellness guidebooks day and night, Octavia woke up this morning with a different mission in mind.

attending a gallup strengths training that seems so incredibly misguided and packed with misinformation that i’m trying to decide if i should say something in the q&a. here are verbatim quotes we’ve heard so far:
“Talents are naturally recurring patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior. They come to you effortlessly and can be measured and ranked.”
“Websters defines weakness as any area in which you lack proficiency. But we’re going to ignore that definition or this word, because everyone lacks proficiency in things they’re not good at.”
“You have more room to improve in your areas of natural talent than your areas of weakness. Thus, you should primarily invest in your areas of natural talent. When you try to develop your areas of low natural talent, you will not get high rewards. Basically, what you suck at, you’re always going to suck at.” LITERAL QUOTE
“If you’re in a situation that requires you to exercise skills that aren’t strengths, your best option is to partner with someone who’s good at that thing. But remember, whatever it is that you’re not good at - you can just stop doing it. That’s an option we sometimes forget.”
“We’re not saying you should never think about your weaknesses. But we are suggesting that it’s often more productive to avoid thinking about them or investing time and energy in them when the return is likely to be low. Your focus should be to mitigate them or to find ways to exercise your strengths instead of fixating on weakness.”
like what the fuuuuuck this is so stupid and harmful to hear from a learning and coaching perspective. also i feel like this just gives people license to be like “oh i’m an ideas person, not a details person” and shove all the actual labor of making things happen onto people who have been labeled more “disciplined” or whatever.

I haven’t had the chance to learn Trunic yet but this better not be the meme that’s like “if two people were on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what”

after ~23 years, my baby Blastoise and first ever partner from my old Blue cartridge is safe and sound in Bank!! ヾ(*´∀`*)ノ
spent the past two days after work painstakingly cloning my cartridge battery saves with a Joey Jr. device, recreating all of my Blue and Yellow pokemon in a gen3 Emerald rom, and then swapping back and forth between ROMs and official cartridges and DSes to transfer them up into Bank-- it was honestly much easier than I thought it would be and really scratched that kinda brain-itch for a solvable but systematic project, like "if X doesn't work then I'll do Y, and if not then I'll do Z, and if none of that works then we'll start again and try Xa or Xb" hahaha
unfortunately my Gold cartridges' battery died years ago and my copy of Crystal vanished one day long ago so I can't recover any of my gen2 team, but this was a resounding success for a first attempt! in the end I only have 5 pokemon left over that didn't pass through the legality check (three had obsolete characters in their name that I did change in PKXDelta, but I guess there's still something wiggy about them-- the other two were those in-game starter trades from Yellow that I tried something different with, weirdly it let the Charmeleon through fine though?? who knows)... but as ohana means family, I'm gonna spend the rest of today sorting out their issues so they don't get left behind :'D
aaaaand then to shuffle them all down into my living dex on SUMO and make a backup of the cartridge saves, so I have an offline backup in-case Bank magically shuts down before I can bite the bullet and shift them to Home...
UPDATE 1hr later lmao -- they're through!! the gang's all here :)

5 and 20 for the fic asks?
5. what fic of your own won't you read?
None of them! I will reread everything I have written, even if only to shamelessly mine it for scraps of inspiration for a different fic.
20. What’s the greatest gift you’ve gotten from your writing?
Is it hokey to say that writing is the gift? I was once too intimidated to write at all, even if the only person who saw it was myself. What if I wrote something, and it confirmed my fears that I was terrible at writing? Better not to try than to confirm myself a failure at something I wanted to be good at.
Happily, these days I have no trouble haunting my friends' DMs with rough, imperfect, terrible snippets. 😌 That's a gift.

hello hello! I would like to ask, what does it take to draw a face? More precisely, how to determine where the eyes, mouth, nose, etc. are? (I know that you are not a teacher, but unfortunately I knocked on your door with such questions eh)(°▽°)/
Hi! Is it bad to say that I wing it for the most part? LMAO I do have a set of rules I follow when it comes to drawing the features, but for placement of the face, well,
Tumblr media
This is a basic shape I start with for the entire head. the circle is just a starting point. The line indicates where I would place the eyes, but it's very sketchy and could move around slightly depending on who i'm drawing. from the structure of the face, the eyes should be slightly above halfway on the face to have room for the rest of the features. The nose and lips also vary depending on size
Tumblr media
Here's some basic features. The eyes aren't on the corner of the face, but a little inward, so there should be some of the head peeking through from the sides. The distance between them is the width of the nose and a little more. The nose length varies depending on character, ofc, but I usually place the nose around the start of the inner dip of the face. for the placement of the lips, it comes directly under the nose. From the profile view it juts out immediately from the nose dip, though it's harder to tell from the unshaded front. That said, the eyebrow area(?) also juts out a bit, which is something to keep in mind!
Tumblr media
something that helped me place ears better is to figure out a good alignment. A natural placement of the ears should be around the length of the nose, starting from anywhere around the eyes to ending with the nose. when it comes to how far the ears should be on the face, you should take into account how far the face should jut out with room for the neck. That little indent that leads up to the ear is always further back from the neck line I hope this helps you out! As you said I'm not a teacher lol but it's easy to remember stuff if you have something to compare with. I'm pretty easygoing with myself and don't keep myself to guidelines often since I got used to anatomy (also because characters features vary and I'd rather not same-face everyone) But as a starting point it's fine! Also another random thing I hold myself too; the size of a hand should start from the characters chin and end around their eyebrow/forehead. That's how i scale hands to characters haha And for any beginners, tracing is fine. If you post it anywhere, you 100% have to credit the original artist, though. Tracing other art as a kid is what got the fundamentals down for me, which helped me develop my own skills
