Rereading the golden bird again and I've got some more questions! Specifically about language and Keld specifically. Did you base it on or take inspiration from any particular languages? How did you come up with words and phrases?
This is where I say that I am Not a super original worldbuilder and basically mashed Welsh with Old Norse like a toddler mashing Barbies together. I use an Old Norse dictionary and a Welsh dictionary and noodle about with root words until I get something that sounds and has the feel of what I'm looking for.
I also take a lot of inspiration from other and better writers. For instance, I absolutely love that in @welcome-to-oslov's The Key to Oslov, the word for real, deep, serious love also means "breathlessness." Giving key words and phrases that sort of rhetorical slippage is so vital for making a language sound and feel lived-in.

Wanted to make more Abattoir outsiders! Thinking that most if not all of the critters made from human stock are going to be herbivorous. Which is slightly restrictive since there is no sunlight. But I'm thinking that the excess light/heat the Abby's emit allows for a radius of vegetation to grow around them. Still pretty chilly out there though!

Also lil bonus boy out in the snow cause I thought he was cute!

More cnidarians!
Due to magic being a byproduct of photosynthesis, some jellyfish that have zooxanthellae in their tissues are able to act upon the elements around them easily enough for it to speciate around it.
One example are sun-following jellyfish. There are several species, which similarly to some earth species of jellyfish, hold themselves in an upside-down position to get sunlight on their little algal companions. Using all the magic at their disposal, they lift a bubble of water with themselves to rise above the surface. Some just hang around a little above the surface to avoid predators, while others go higher and further out and predate on seaside insects. They always orient themselves towards the sun, and go back inside the water at night.

Environmental hazard signs
Tumblr media
These sort of hazard signs used to display if an environment is suitable for habitation or what precautions need to be taken when visiting. It's used for planets as well as artificial environments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The inner circle can contain a symbol that shows which species the sign is applicable to. If inner circle is blank then the sign is applicable to all species.
The five outer wedges represent different types of hazards. If it's a blank it means there's no hazard. Many hazard symbol also come with a number 1-3 representing the the severity.

ASARIEL — DAUGHTER OF OUR LORD SATAN
It’s well known amongst the masses of Hell that Lucifer and Bath Kol procreated to bring the first descendant of Lucifer into the world, supposedly the heir to his throne. The first angel to be born tainted and in the organic world was all the talk for years. Mysteriously, no one has ever seen or heard from her since creation and her existence has nearly been forgotten by now.
Asariel is eager to deface the image of Lucifer after being born with a strong resentment towards him, hence why she has been tucked away from the public eye. In this piece she has stolen a variation of Lucifer’s halo, which I intended to have broken yet it somehow slipped my mind. Prompts by @ultrainfinitepit and Sanctas seraphina.

What are your favorite egg-based meals?
Eggs! Whether they're from chickens, ducks, geese, quail, and more, there are many dishes around Tamriel that feature this simple ingredient.
Altmer
In Summerset, a popular starter dish is a savoury steamed seafood egg custard known as chawanmushi. Served either chilled or hot enough to melt your face, this little dish is packed with prawns and shellfish and mushrooms, and topped with a slice of chewy fishcake.
Argonians
Crocodile eggs are a delicacy in Black Marsh, and the local Saxhleel have many ways of preparing them. My personal favourite is a flavourful scrambled omelette with scallions and oysters, cooked until the oysters are juicy to the point of bursting and the eggs are fluffy yet crisp. Known as or luak, this omelette is served with a healthy serving of chili sauce.
Bosmer
While people tend to hyperfixate on the meat aspect of the Bosmeri diet, they forget that eggs are just as important a food source. Poached giant snake eggs with cream sauce and smoked salmon atop cricket bread are the perfect brunch delight, especially when paired with a bit of jagga-and-honey.
Bretons
If there's one race in Tamriel who's mastered the soufflé, it's the Bretons. Whether savoury or sweet and set aflame with liquor, you can't deny that this tricky dish is worth every delicious mouthful. I'm personally a big fan of (surprise) four-cheese soufflé, where the egg is whipped with a clever blend of local High Rock cheeses to enhance the stiffening and therefore prevent an immediate collapse upon leaving the oven.
Dunmer
You'll never guess what this Dunmeri dish involves. Kwama eggs? Volcanic ash? Yes. Whole kwama eggs are buried beneath a mixture of lime and ash, and left to ferment for a few weeks until they have achieved a jelly-like texture on the exterior, and a creamy yet firm yolk. The eggs are served sliced and chilled, with pickled ginger on the side. Also great atop savoury saltrice congee.
Imperials
Like their penchant for eating pecorino-stuffed dormice, this dish will have you wondering what's wrong with Imperials. Balut is simply a raw duck egg, containing the lovely surprise of a two week-old foetus. Crack open the egg and sip up the whites, then season that foetus with salt and a splash of vinegar and slurp it up whole. This is, to some, unimaginably cruel, but Imperials in the Blackwood region insist that it's good for the health, and that it's delicious. I'll take their word for it, as this is one of the very few dishes I can't bring myself to try.
Khajiit
If there's a quintessential dish native to southern Elsweyr, it's probably telur balado, or twice-cooked eggs with chili sauce. Eggs are first boiled, then briefly deep fried to give them a delightfully crisp exterior while maintaining a rich yolk. It's then slathered in a rather spicy tomato-based sauce, and served with steamed rice. Also rather nice with a pinch of moon sugar.
Nords
While eggs from just about every bird are commonly used in Nord cuisine, chicken's eggs are by far the most popular and easily accessible. A signature egg dish in Skyrim is a thick omelette studded with bacon, served with sliced spring onions and rye bread. Simple, delicious, and downright good (except for its traditional, apparently Atmoran name, flæskeæggekage).
Orcs
Not everyone enjoys chub loon eggs, but Wrothgarian Orcs can't get enough of their rich, slightly fishy flavour. One popular egg dish is a seafood soup with egg drops, horker meatballs, and mudcrab meat. The egg drops are formed by whisking beaten eggs into the boiling soup, allowing the tendrils to cook on contact. It's served with seaweed noodles and a dash of strong black vinegar.
Redguards
Seagull eggs are a popular ingredient in coastal Hammerfell, and also act as a control measure against too many seagulls. This has happened numerous times in Stros M'kai, where shakshouka hails from. This famous dish is comprised of seagull eggs poached in an iron skillet with a spicy, flavourful tomato sauce, onions, and charred peppers. Usually eaten at breakfast with flatbread to mop up the sauce.

MEGA POSTING MEGA POSTING
these funny guys are the sapient species ive developed the most (and i'll be using jeyo-centric terms for ease of reading and continuity with my other posts)
Generally, yotavuș have some differences easier to pick out across them that directly correlate(more or less) with where they are originally on the planet. those closest to the equator tend to have tan/light brown fur, splotchy stripe patterns, and longer/larger+more saturated matti and frill, while those further from the equator tend to have paler fur tending towards a blue-gray, and more solid stripes.
Additionally, they have two main places where fur can be longer than the rest on the body: the "mane", extended from just between the ears along the length of the tail, and at the junction between the underside of the tail and the back of the legs.
individual in-depth info under the cut!
images of individuals are 1-6, left to right and top to bottom
Image One: Nûzkalrw
/nu˥ʒ.kal.ɹɨ/
Found at the very bottom of the continent, and speak the isolate language of Mw̌ku, which has some influence on the modern standard dialect of its neighboring language, Chà Lo. This is the south pole of the planet, and as such these guys have fur that's longer than average for their species, and, rather uniquely, has a bit of a curl to it. They have smaller ears due to the cold as well. Culture-wise I haven't developed a lot for speakers of this language, but the word nûzkalrw in their language also refers to the species as a whole.
Image Two: H̊lanueli
/xla.n:we.li/
One of the five major ethnicities found in areas where the language Twac̊in̊ /tʷa.t͡ʃiŋ/ is dominant, on the majority of the northern peninsula of the continent, as well as along the southwest coast of the H̊iya /xi.ja/ sea. This land is home to a rang of biomes, from temperate forest to grasslands to tropical forest. Despite the warmer overall weather compared to the nûzkalrw people, there is a tendency to cover up due cultural and religious norms spanning a large amount of the region. The character pictured in the example lives at the northernmost edge of this region, and is bundled up for winter, hence the face mask.
Image Three: Càhetmǐje
/t͡ʃa˥.χɛt.mi˧˥.d͡ʒɛ/
North-ish of the central regions on the continent, and curled up along the coast of the Mǎvnivadjeco /ma˧˥v.ɲi˧.va˧d.d͡ʒɛ˧.t͡ʃɒ˧/ sea, this place is just a little below the equator and almost smack dab in this worlds "cradle of life", where it's theorized that their species first evolved. Most cultures in this area use large head coverings to protect themselves from the sun. They have shorter arms and tails than what would be expected for their heights, along with long, wide ears to help release heat. They speak several different dialects of the most widespread language on the planet(and second-most in space!), with the main one being the standard dialect.
Image Four: Uutas
/u:.tas/
The eastern neighbors of the H̊lanueli, but not as closely related as some think, due to mostly being on Ranihikk and only coming other Sotuŧahtěnu in the last thousand or so years. Big fans of bright colors, and their language has retained a logographic writing system, which is super fun. I have worldbuilt basically Nothing on the continent of Ranihikk beyond the east and west coasts so uh. yeah :)
Image Five: Neohùanshīadhàr
Standard: /neo˥.hwa˥˩n.ʃja˩.da˥˩ɹ/ Sāng-Hòn Dialect: /neo.hwa˥˩n.ʃja.ta˥˩ɹ/
This particular branch of Chà Lo speakers have a bit of a rocky past with those under the Twac̊in̊ umbrella, but in the modern(2374 and a good hundred of so years before then) era things are more of less resolved. This is a Big Desert area, so naturally you'll find a lot of these lil fuckers all around. mimicking the colors of nature is fun, and sand is hot so sandals are preferred during the dry season. tail brushes are flashy and cute, and many folks will wear those little fabric ties on their tails as well with patterning or writing that represent their family. Narrower ears than their central Katteșuvi cousins, probably to avoid catching as much sand in there. Also very, very good at running fast and for a while.
Image Six: Śjixutwu
/ʃji.ʔut.wu/
On the southern coast of Vǒtiyǎcke /vɒ˧˥.ti˧.ja˧˥.t͡ʃkɛ/, and speak one of the oldest indigenous languages on the continent, along with a few others. Defined by straits and seas(Metom Strait/mɛ˧.tɒ˧m/, Mireurǎ Sea /mi˧.rɛ˧.ə˧.ra˧˥/, Eșyǎmemě Strait /ɛ˧ɬ.ja˧˥.mɛ˧.mɛ˧˥/, Șamac Strait /ɬa˧.ma˧t͡ʃ/, Mǎvnivadjeco Sea) , there's a lot of storms here, and has led to communities relying on being water-proofed as much as possible. Tall wooden shoes are also used to stay above floodwaters. Their cultures are highly matrilineal.

hi! this feels like cheating because i've loved tgb since 2016 but have yet to leave a comment about it. i'm sorry. plus this has probably come up in the discord server i'm too shy to join but listen. please. i have to know- why lübeck? if i understand correctly it's a small country with fancy wine. i'm from lübeck the german city and we just have marzipan and satan. any time lübeck is mentioned i'm like !! :D but it feels so weird - why of all names did you choose that one?
...oh god
I am going to bring dishonor upon myself and my cow by admitting that I don't even remember.
This is also where I admit that I can be an incredibly lazy worldbuilder. I will happily dive down a research rabbithole about the cultural and economic impact of civil war in a society on the cusp of industrialization and then I have to name a country and I just find a list of place names on Google and mix n' match like I'm dressing a Barbie.
Also, MARZIPAN AND SATAN. I am am ENTHRALLED. Clearly I've done Lübeck a massive disservice and would like to issue an apology for the lack of marzipan and Satan in its portrayal, as well as in the story generally.

GT July: Home
Decided that words couldn't do justice to the idea I had of making a little drawing of Patch's room.
It's in the walls behind a power outlet on Melody's kitchen counter. The actual electrical wiring was moved (with Mel's help) to make room for them to have a little hidey-hole to call their own. Not pictured is a curtain inside which they can close for privacy (Which TBH is only missing because i can't draw fabrics to save my life, as you can tell by the bed and the fabric rolls on the shelves oops)
Also I'm aware literally nobody cares but I still had to add some bits of Sprite Script just for Lore Funsies(tm), I didn't make an entire written language to not fit it into every piece of art I make for them

Does your setting have fire-breathing dragons that are native to the planet/world they're on?
Then you should have several species of plants - - and several species of animals that evolved specifically alongside those plants - - that can only be found in areas frequented by dragons.
In a world that makes sense, dragons would have evolved the ability to breathe fire for a purpose, not just to look cool. Whatever that purpose is, it's going to impact their environment.
Wherever dragon fire lays its mark on the environment, in whatever way it's used, this is where these specific species of plants (and the pollinators that evolved along with them) can be found, growing in the aftermath of the specific chemicals and conditions created by dragonfire!

Standard humanoid patterned jumpsuit uniforms of the United Mellanus Space Program, circa 2360s-2380s. Division colors inspired by Federation Starfleet uniforms were introduced in the mid-2360s, but the basic jumpsuit pattern (with zipper holes doing double duty as pockets and holes for additional or modified limbs to pop out) dates back to the early days of spaceflight, and, in fact, to old military uniforms. There is room on the black right shoulder for relevant pins or pips, and room on the left arm for a mission-patch and any relevant national flag or organizational logo. The patch on the breast is a blue circle with a red horseshoe and a white star with the top point being exaggerated to point upwards.
Tumblr media
UMSP Administrators don't actually wear jumpsuits, but their suits, jackets, dresses, and vests used for formal purposes often use red accents. Command division includes rocket captains, space station commanders, or whomever is in command of a spacecraft.
Mission Specialists comprise the astronomers, physicists, biologists, archaeologists, planetary scientists/geologists, and payload specialists that fly on missions that are not otherwise primarily tasked with the operation of the spacecraft itself.
Medical are medics, nurses, and doctors. If a biologist is flying on a biology-focused mission (for example, a landing on Oldsky or Lake, or an orbital botany experiment) but they happen to be a trained medic, they may also use the white uniform with a mission specialist mint stripe.
Astrogators are the astronauts who figure out how to get rockets to where they need to go, and may be responsible for the orbital maneuvers and traffic control for space stations as well. (Astrogator is the space version of a navigator). In most cases, spacecrafts are controlled through preprogrammed manuevers, but manual piloting also falls under the Astrogation division. Subspace field dynamics was originally under the purview of Mission Specialist division, but as pulsed warp drives become integrated into more missions in the 2380s, subspace physicists have generally doffed mint and donned blue.
Engineers, more properly Flight Engineers, are astronauts tasked with upkeep, maintenence, and operation of ship systems, or with the assembly of rockets and space stations in space. They may be expected to conduct EVAs to perform repairs, they manage a ship's nuclear reactor, nuclear-thermal-impulse-drives, or if present, even its pulsed warp drive.
Security astronauts are usually restricted to rare military-contracted missions, but the uniform is also used for the ground-based security force of the UMSP. They're also found at phaser stations, now that phaser operation is coordinated with the UMSP for phaser-powered launch vehicles. If you're not where you're supposed to be in a UMSP facility, they're the ones who are gonna throw you out
