another reason i like drawing dazai's hair all round and spherical is because if i make it wavy, his hair will look too much like mine. And we can't have that now..

bob's burgers has a lot of casual queerness which makes it harder to point to any specific character as "canon" rep like obvious exceptions like nat and marshmallow aside (but still their exact identities are never stated within the show) there's a lot of implied queer identity that's not expanded upon because its just an accepted part of their world. and they dont need so many words to describe those experiences

like bob is bisexual and clearly attracted to men even if he's never explicitly said the word bisexual. mr ambrose is heavily queer-coded and outright talks about having theater orgies w/ other gay men but never SAYS that he's gay. jimmy pesto has sex with transgender sex workers (of course) and male prostitute and its implied that he isn't straight but his life is surrounded by so much toxic masculinity that he isn't willing to accept or acknowledge that part of himself. bob and teddy openly talking about how sexually attractive they find the male handyman and how handsome he is. mr fischoeder LITERALLY has gay sex parties w/ all his rich friends (not even close to the only time his queerness is implied) but he isn't outright saying "yes im sexually attracted to the male gender" bcuz its implied.... its very much normal in this show for people to be gay/bisexual/transgender but bcuz of how its talked about and protrayed people who dont want to acknowledge that just Won't See that part of their world

even w/ the kids the implication is there like rudy casually talking about how attractive an older boy is or calling zeke his soulmate or jimmy jr being jealous of gene's relationship with zeke and how physically affectionate they are and how they say i love you. douglas is very obviouely queer coded and implied to be in a Situationship with josh but these are the things u wouldn't always notice unless you were paying attention

so when you say things like "calvin fischoeder obviously isn't meant to be straight" people will ask for proof or actual canon confirmation of that but there isn't any one thing u can point to because its..... everywhere? its his entire character

(not even getting into heteronormativity and how straight is assumed to be the default for every character even though no character on bob's burgers has ever explicitly identified themselves as heterosexual. but if they haven't labelled their gender or sexuality then they MUST BE cishet right??)

anyways big part of my ST5 wishlist is seeing el wearing pink. not like the baby pink of her borrowed dress in s1 but a bright, neon, screaming fuchsia. i was just thinking about this bc of how much of el’s character and story is inspired by under the skin, even the whole aspect of the void (something that is exclusive to her powers) is a nod to the film.

i love how we kind of see the pink already coming through in the detail of her sleeves —how they are part of her “final” unshed layer in s4— n i always saw it as being representative of her gaining a footing on her identity.

i also love this idea bc if you’ve seen the end of under the skin, you know that come s5 el’s arc will officially stop being a reference to the film and instead become a response/continuation of that story, raising from the ashes n all that. that is if we get a happy ending for el a heem heem

really been struggling with finding good mindless queer audiobooks to distract myself with lately. today i started not one but two different poorly written fantasy romances where the main characters bone within 24 hours of meeting each other (one of them was literally 5 minutes after meeting). allos are wild

First attack of the year! It took me forever to complete because there's lots of little hidden details. Featuring @chrystallink's Clysmia, Blake and Cider, as told from the perspective of my fan Gaunto character. We'll see if I can get any more of this done before ArtFight is over. So colorful! Wish all these guys weren't hidden in the dim lighting. I'll have to do a proper attack of all these guys someday. XD; @jestersunite's Crumb!

Now we're getting into the very hidden characters, mostly obscured by figures in the last panel XD; @madame-photon's Octavia, who got almost completely obscured by Blake. You can see a little bit of her form between Blake's shoulder and his hair. Love her design too, I've got to do her justice someday :')

@kirobotdx's Kijori, who ended up getting pretty much entirely obscured in the end. There's a tiny bit of his head visible under Cider's head and beside Blake's shoulder. :') I've got to better with him next time.

Now for other secrets/cool things!

Deercember Day Nineteen: Taruca Deer | Dusting of Snow

The taruca (Hippocamelus antisensis)—also known as the Peruvian guemal, north Andean deer, north Andean huemul, northern huemul, or northern guemal—is a mid-sized deer species that inhabits the high regions of the Andes mountains in South America. Tarucas are found only in the Andes mountains, from central Peru, through Bolivia and extreme north-eastern Chile, and into northern Argentina. The common name taruca means "deer" in both the Quechua and Aymara languages, though these are not interrelated. Tarucas are mainly found on rocky slopes, queñual forests, and puna grasslands near glacial lakes at high-altitude mountain terrains. Despite living in grasslands, the taruca feeds mainly on the local bushes, shrubs, and herbs for much of the year, but supplements this diet with grasses during the rainy season. Unlike other South American deer, except for the closely-related huemul, the antlers consist of just two tines which branch from the base, and with the posterior tine being the larger. Males also possess canine teeth in their upper jaw, which females usually, but not always, lack. More information here.
