Well, it is beginning.

It's unfortunate that both Steve Bradley and Shawn Goff believed BJU's hype that they would be safe if they had a "good year" in spite of the BJU Civil War 2022.

But as of last Friday, the Director of Admissions and the Assistant Direction of Admissions -- Steve Bradley and Shawn Goff -- both were fired from Bob Jones University.

The excuse was "restructuring." That's code for downsizing. Which is code for shrinking. Which is a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the inevitable closure.

Here are the details:

Steve responds:

"A lot of hurt."

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen. Don't get high on your own supply.

Shawn, honey, you should know how to discern good evidence from bad. You used to know.

When they are firing top people at the beginning of a semester in a way that feels out of the blue like this? That's bad.

Nobody's safe at BJU. Nobody.

Today on Donuts and Dogs we encountered a large dog with a muzzle in a group with a few other dogs on the trail. I didn’t initiate anything but the dog came up and rubbed so aggressively affectionately on us that we had to pet him.

I offered that I’ve seen dogs muzzled to prevent them eating rocks as a roundabout question. His mom sighed and said he has to wear it because otherwise he eats marijuana.

#sun protection #skincare #you don't even have to use a tanning bed or lay out in the sun or whatever #neither of my parents have ever intentionally tanned; they just seldom wore sunscreen for decades #and they've both had pre-cancerous cells chemically burned off their faces #no such thing as a safe tan in the long run. it's not that you should stress yourself out about it #but you SHOULD take reasonable precautions #(and yes dark-skinned people too. eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

#i do think that this pit of anger was eventually covered and soothed by the ponds #but he didn't adress it and he couldn't even look at it until he was twelve #when he stopped pushing back and repressing everything and finally allowed himself to exist as he was #but ok listen #its all layed out in the first 3 episodes of season 5 and in the way amy sees him #episode 1. here is the new doctor he is energetic and reeling and fun #episode 2. the space whale comparison. here is the new doctor. he is unthinkably ancient and almost godlike but he is so so kind #and patient and good. he is ancient and lonely but he can't stand to see children cry. so the doctor helps people #episode 3. daleks. the doctor is a soldier. these are his age old enemies. he wants them dead and he will stop at nothing #all logic and reason vanish. he is hitting the dalek with a pipe and yelling his head off while amy watches in horror #like obviously we know why but amy didnt #this is not a sane or rational man he is unstable and angry #and in that episode he was stripped back to what he largely is: hate #you would make a good dalek ect ect ect #anyway 3 episodes with 3 very distinct and equally definitely traits layed out like: here you go #i don't like elevens era much but those first 3 episodes were great #doctor who #eleven #amy #eleventh doctor #matt smith #dr who #dw #i mean idk this is what river literally had to spell out for him #eleven was careening completely out of control #how long til doctor means warrior indeed?#mine

Hey Twitter employees getting laid off tomorrow! IMPORTANT INFO from a CA employment attorney (me):

CA's "WARN" law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff.

A layoff of 50+ employees within a 30 day period qualifies.

I know you didn't get that notice.

This WARN law applies to all California employers of 75+ employees, which obviously includes Twitter with its thousands of employees.

Purpose of the law is to give laid off employees time to figure out how to handle this disruption.

And Elon completely ignores it.

Employers like Twitter who violate the WARN Act face civil penalties of $500/day for each violation. With thousands of employees, this could be significant, though maybe not to Elon.

Employees laid off in violation of the WARN Act receive back pay at the employee's final rate or 3 year average of compensation, whichever is higher. Twitter would also be liable for workers' medical expenses that would have been covered under an employee benefit plan.

Twitter will be liable for all of these (civil penalties, lost compensation, lost medical and other benefits) & attorneys' fees for the 60 days it failed to give workers notice.

This flagrant violation of workers rights is outrageous.

Who's in for a class action? LET'S DO THIS

Also, CA's strong antidiscrimination laws apply to Twitter's big layoff tomorrow. Are people of color, women and/or older workers disproportionately chosen, for example?

This was done so hastily, so slapdash, so that the world's richest man can get even richer faster.

We'll see how long Twitter lets my posts stay up. If they take them down tonight, before the layoffs, that means they were on notice of the law I cite and chose to punish me rather than follow it.

That's consciousness of guilt and I'd use it as the basis for punitive damages.
