what happened to lastknownwriter? like i know they took their fics down and i think they're selling them as books but do they still run in the spn circles?
if you are lastknownwriter, i want you to know that when i first started reading spn fanfic, one of my first AUs was freefall, and i loved it so. much. i still do. all your works. and i hope you're doing well.
#they might never seen this but i was scrolling through my bookmarks on my computer#i have a chromebook and i've had one since hs#if you don't know: chromebooks sync to each other and your phone and i never go through my bookmarks#so i was trolling through them while in my piano lecture and found some old destiel fics#and then i saw Freefall chapter 9 on Wattpad bookmarked#on WATTPAD#i first read it on wattpad and then found the rest of their fics on ao3 and moved there but#anyway. LKW you changed a 15 year old me's life and your fics are incredible#supernatural#lastknownwriter

hello! I heard you are the finder of fics! I also browsed your blog and you definitely have a new follower 💙. would you be able to help me find a fic I read on AO3 years and years ago? from what I could remember cas was a firefighter and dean I don't remember if he was too or a teacher or something else, but somehow they acquire a little baby girl and are like her foster parents and they're trying to adopt her. there's also an angsty 16yr old boy that has found his home with them. I can't find it at all :(

I'm sadly only a finder of fics in specific niches of fandom, but I always try to put in an effort to find any fic!
Edit: I remembered! I had a feeling this must be a fic I vaguely remembered in my brain as “firefighters” + “it’s been deleted”. Which was very helpful, but after I read comments of people saying that it was deleted (and not just a fic I that evaded my AO3 search) I looked a bit further and found this:

Summary: Kindergarten teacher Dean Winchester spends his days elbow deep in play doh; the most exciting his life gets is when he plays mechanic in his uncle Bobby’s shop on the weekends. That is until a birthday party goes tequila-nova and he trips into a one-night stand with an incredibly hot firefighter named Castiel.
Dean’s life gets a lot more exciting after that.

I hope that’s the fic you were looking for! I don’t think I’ve read it so I can’t tell for sure but from the fic rec post it sounded like it.
I did try to search AO3 with some tags but couldn't find anything that sounded like the fic you are looking for. So I'm posting this because maybe someone else knows!

1. Loose Lips Sink Ships - SummerFrost
"Epikegster 2014 starts with Bitty’s Winter Screw date crashing the party, and ends with Kent Parson giving him his hat and four tickets to an Aces game."
Super hard hitting Kent/Bitty AU, beautifully written.

2. Ill Equipped - lastknownwriter
"Jack's first mistake was getting drunk in a salsa club with Kent Parson.
Or, the accidental Vegas married AU no one asked for."
Amazing mixture of Zimbits fluff and NSFW, just so cute!

3. Infinity, Plus One - SummerFrost
"Eric Bittle hoped to find a lot of things at Samwell University, but being caught in the cross-fire between his surly captain, Jack Zimmermann, and his friendly-but-moody alternate captain, Kent Parson, was certainly not one of them."
This one rips my heart apart, another Kent/Bitty sitch that is wonderfully written (ily SummerFrost)

4. Baking Is Punk As Fuck - heyfightme

This list would not be complete without fandom superstar heyfightme. All I can say is that this fic is incredibly written, and LORD it is LIFE CHANGING. Plus, supporting local Australian creators!

This is an ongoing fic which is exactly what it sounds like - Alicia is P.O.T.U.S., Jack is the first son, and Bitty is the peppy new Social Media Manager. It has only just started, but I adore it already. This one isn't NSFW (yet?)!

Summary: By ten a.m. Dean had seen his dream of expanding the hardware store dashed.
By one, his baby had been impounded off the street.
By midnight, Dean's personal space had been invaded by an angry, wet bookseller with hot blue eyes and an armful of natty first editions.
There was also a cat.
Maybe we should start at the beginning..
Comments: 10/10. This is so sweet and fluffy and domestic, no angst whatsoever. Dean owns a hardware store, and Cas is his newly moved in neighbor who runs a bookstore. They get together and enjoy life in a quant small town. It’s so lovely and full of people and traditions and it’s so so fluffy. It’s amazingly sweet and the smut is amazing. There’s an entire part about how they also knew each other as kids, and it’s just so adorable.

Thank you for keeping us posted. I'm in a similar boat where I have some fics that I knew I wanted to reread saved, but didn't know if offering to redistribute would be kosher or not. My consolations to everyone who's feeling awful about the most recent deletion; I'm still traumatized by one of my favorite authors deleting their works & profile while I was reading one of their fics and watching in real time while some beloved works disappeared. (They reposted everything later on but STILL.)
Oh, anon, hugs. It's so tough to realize a favorite is gone and you may never be able to get it again. Like, in some ways I'm lucky cause I've been here a long time - for example, like, I read works by people like lastknownwriter and TamrynEradani when they were still up, and I got copies before they were restricted by the author (well, TamrynEradani still is okay with free distribution, but maybe a year after lastknownwriter pulled theirs, they asked for works to no longer be distributed, cause they published them on Amazon). I'm glad that the one you loved came back, that's absolutely the best case scenario!
Fingers crossed none of us have to mourn a fave ever again!!!

Comments: 10/10. It’s so sweet and smutty, no angst but there is life and death situations. Dean and Cas are the grossest couple in existence, and it’s wonderful. Dean and Cas drunkenly hooks up one night at the Roadhouse, but they grow closer, start dating, got married, and somehow winded up with a troubled teenage son and an adorable baby daughter. This fic is amazingly written, the smut is amazing, but the plot is also awesome. This is amazing, and I cannot say it enough times, just go read it.
