Vasco seems like a honeycomb (candy) type of guy tbh
Never heard of it before, but it looks nice. Apparently it's really easy to make at home as well? Is it good?? The texture seems interesting.

Love is stored in the food.
My dad always made a huge deal about my mom's cooking.
He would come to see us for the weekend and she'd make him lunch and dinner, he'd bang his fist on the table, he'd make comical MMMMMMs like he was in a commercial (albeit a very corny one), and declare that he was taking home the leftovers so nobody could have seconds (which was, of course, a joke, and he'd actually encourage everyone to eat more).
As I was growing up, if I didn't like something we were having for dinner, he'd tell me "Did I ever tell you what I ate in the Gulf War?" or "Did I ever tell you I carried one spoon for six months in my sock?" and, in a nice, fun, dad-like way, tell me I should appreciate my mom's cooking.
One of the last times I saw him, I made a joke that I could make him spaghetti, but it wouldn't be as good as my mom's because I didn't have the practice.
He told me that of course it would be just as good, because he loves me, and therefore he loves my cooking, and he would take all the leftovers home and eat all of it even if I made him weeks and weeks of spaghetti and it all turned green.
I believe him.
I got older and got my own place, and began cooking for roommates and friends and coworkers and significant others. I wasn't a very good cook because I didn't have any experience at all outside of boxed macaroni and spaghetti since my mom didn't allow me to cook—which is another story of its own.
So yes, I started cooking and baking, and no, I wasn't good at it. Many of my meals were (and, let's be real, still are) "flops." I'm notorious for burning—incinerating, truthfully—things, overcooking things, adding too much or too little seasoning, yada yada. That doesn't stop me from loving cooking and baking, though.
But there's a problem, and there has always been a problem since I started using a kitchen of my own, that what I make goes to waste. Entire cakes sit in their cake-keeper until they mold. Leftovers of dishes I made for other people turn to liquid in their containers. Brownies turn to gray rocks, spaghetti turns so green not even my dad would have touched it.
Shortly after I got my first apartment, I lamented this to my father, who was by then living overseas. I told him that I had, like my mother, love to bake, but no one to feed it to. Even with roommates, it rotted. I couldn't eat two dozen cupcakes myself.
I received a phone call a few hours later.
It was from my dad's best friend.
He drove an hour for cupcakes. I'd never seen him smile so broadly as he did when I went running out to his truck with a big container of cupcakes in my hands. They were pudding-filled, I told him, something I'd never tried before. Yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting and vanilla pudding. Boston cream cupcakes.
My dad's friend came back once a week until he moved a short time later. He posted pictures of my "delicacies" on Facebook. I made him cheesecakes, cupcakes, quick breads, muffins.
And of course, spaghetti.
And he told me about the spoons he and my dad carried in the Gulf War.
Years went by and I got better at cooking, but there was still something wrong. My food—homemade food—wasn't eaten unless I put it right in front of a person and basically said "eat." If I set my food out at a work potluck and left the room it would go untouched. My family scoffed (and still scoffs!) at anything I make for them for reasons unknown to even me. My friends and roommates ate what I put in front of them, but left overs never got eaten of their own volition, cookies continued to mold in their tins.
I stopped baking.
Later when my dad returned to the country for a funeral, he went straight to my mom's house. She made him coffee and cheesecake and spaghetti, and he raved and raved and raved about all of it just like he used to.
We stood outside that night while I let the dogs run around.
"She makes terrible coffee," he told me unprompted. "Bitter. But she always had it ready for me. I never asked for that. She just started doing it one day while I was getting ready for work. I'd never had that before. It was the sweetest thing ever, back then."
Her cheesecake was too sweet for him sometimes, too. And she made her chili, one of his favorite dishes right up there with spaghetti, too spicy for his liking.
But she was cooking for him. She was doing this for him. And his reactions made her so happy. My mom loves when people enjoy her food, everyone who's ever met her knows this. "Even when she made absolutely rancid stuff, which she does sometimes," he said, "she's doing it because she loves us. And we love her, too. So I drink the coffee."
I took up my dad's mantle of "theatrics" at the dinner table for my mom. She smiles the same every time.
I've become a much, much better cook as I've gotten older.
I've also, with age, learned the difference between selfish love and unselfish love, and how you can so easily tell this difference when you make someone food. Empty compliments made in hopes it'll win the compliment-giver brownie points (pun not intended but appreciated). Say it's good, but the leftovers are molding in the fridge and the muffins are untouched in the break room, still. My family who side-eyes my dinner contributions with thinly-veiled distaste.
I started making friends recently. New friends from new places, friends who aren't anything like me.
I joined a writing club, too.
On a whim, I baked cupcakes for our meeting.
When the meeting was over, arguments ensued over who got to take the cupcakes home. I handed out paper plates and cling wrap. Everyone left smiling. Everyone left with a cupcake (or two) in their hands. Each time we meet, now, they ask me when I'm next bringing cupcakes.
A coworker came to sit in my office the other day. She's new here. She lamented not having a Red Lobster in the area, that she craved their biscuits because she and her mom used to go get Red Lobster on Thursday nights.
I went home and made her Cheddar Bay biscuits. We sat in the break room eating them and laughing and making up stories about people we saw from the window below. When lunch was over, she took her biscuits home in an ice cream box we found in the freezer.
I started dating a new guy last year. My dad introduced us on his most recent visit. I was smitten. He was smitten. We did the silly little activities kind-of-young people do while dating: walks in the park, going out for ice cream, watching a movie, attending a trivia night.
I don't remember now how it was relevant to the conversation at the time, but at one point it was mentioned that neither his mother nor his father nor his step-mom ever cooked. The whole family always ate out. At home they'd have chicken tenders and Hungry Man dinners.
The next week, I invited him over for dinner. I was nervous, super nervous. I was so scared it would go the way it always goes, with no comments at all other than "thanks it was good," which almost always means, in the experiences I've had, "that was mediocre but nice of you I guess."
I made him a big rack of ribs. I called my mom to make sure I was doing it right, like, three times.
When I put the ribs down in front of him, he was smiling a familiar smile. A "did I ever tell you about the spoon I carried" smile.
He took one bite.
He set down his fork.
He got out his phone and video called his dad to show him the dinner.
I haven't stopped cooking for him since.
When he has to leave after a weekend together, he goes to my fridge and rummages through the leftovers not unlike a racoon and asks "can I have this?" "are you going to eat this?" "can I take some of this home?"
He always leaves with a Walmart bag full of little Tupperware containers, and hot coffee made without asking.
And when my dinners are "flops," when they come out burnt or too salty or not salty enough, he doesn't lie or give me beloathed empty compliments.
"The worst dinner from you is still better than the best dinner from Door Dash."
I bake him cakes. He sends me snapchats of him eating them. I make him muffins, and he takes them to work in a lunch box and taunts his coworkers with them. He arrives to my place in the wee hours of the morning and asks "what did you make for dinner tonight, is there any left, and how fast can I microwave it?" We go to a social potluck at the place where we met and he points to the banquet table and says "look, that guy's getting some of your meatballs. I bet they're almost all gone." A friend's wife puts one of my cookies on her plate. He points at something behind her that isn't there at all and steals the cookie off of her plate. He smiles at me.
Love is stored in the food.

This will be the last part of my nameless story. Any suggestions on a name would help so much. I hope you enjoy the story and I have a few other ideas for both Charles and Max stories. Please let me know if I should post more, your feedback would be amazing.
Thanks so much for the likes and follows 😊
Part 3
4 YEARS LATER:
Half an hour, that’s how long it was before they landed in Monaco. Y/n had mixed feelings of excitement and nausea as she was finally returning home for good. It had been 4 long exciting years and it wasn’t like she hadn't been home for short holidays, but this was it. She had received an offer just a few weeks ago from Red bull to come and work as their media liaison/photographer and she had jumped at the chance. She knew she was going to run into Charles at some point but after everything she was not going to let it stop her. She hadn't seen or spoken to him since that night 4 years ago, not for her lack of effort. On the day she left home, he didn’t show up or even call her to say goodbye. For over a year she had tried calling and messaging him every day, particularly on race days to wish him good luck and she had made sure to be there every year for the races at both Monaco and Silverstone. But he never replied to any message, he would read them but that was it. She hadn't even been able to see him when they were at the same racetrack. And he had to have known she was there because she had met up with some of her old friends like Max and Pierre. But after a while she stopped trying.
“Babe?”
She turned to her boyfriend of 3 years and saw the concern on his face. “Yeah?”
He took her hand, “You, ok?”
After moving to London y/n had become close friends with an elderly lady Alison who happened to walk her dog on the same route as Y/n went running, something she had started doing as a way to release stress. After 6 months, when Alison failed to show up one day for neither their morning or evening run, Y/n had gotten worried and went over to Alison’s house. Her concern had increased when she heard Ruby the chocolate lab barking but no one answered the door. After requesting a wellness check on her friend, she had met Eddie one of the policemen who showed up. Turns out Alison had rushed off to some family emergency and she was totally okay, but it struck up a friendship between her and the young brunette Brit. Three months later they became more than friends and she was happy.
“I’m good. Excited actually, I missed Monaco.”
He grinned, “I’m really excited myself.”
She smiled, “I can't wait to show you all my favourite places.”
He leaned over and kissed her just as the sign came on to fasten their seatbelts. This was it.... she was home.

The first few days had been extremely time consuming as they settled into their apartment and y/n running around to meetings with the people at Red bull. But today they could both finally just enjoy being together before heading over to her mother’s house for dinner. “What time did your mom say?”
“7pm.” she responded from the kitchen where she was currently finishing off the dessert.
He came in and stood next to her before trying to take a swipe at the cheesecake. She gently smacks his hand, “Aww.”
“Poor baby,” she pulled a tongue.
He chuckled. “Well babe, we need to go if we want to get there by 7.”
“Ok.”

“Mamma,” she threw her arms around her mother and hugged her tightly.
“Ma fille Cherie!”
Y/n looked at her mother, “You look fantastic.”
“You are too sweet my fille. Hi Eddie.” she hugged the young man who had taken care of her daughter.” He kissed her cheeks in greeting. “Claire and the boys are outside.”
He winked at Y/n before heading out to the back. Y/n was slightly confused though which Sylvie quickly picked up on. “You’ll see.”
“Mamma?” she asked.
“Come on.”
She led her daughter outside onto the patio where Lorenzo, Arthur, Claire and Pascale where sitting. Seeing her friends made her grin brightly. Arthur was the first to his feet and dragged her into a rib crushing hug. “I am so glad you’re home.”
“Can’t breathe,” she gasped.
“Sorry.” he smiled sheepishly while letting her go so that his brother and mother could have their chance.
“Mamma didn’t tell me you were all going to be here.”
“Well, mamma thought she would surprise you,” Claire said from her seat. Y/n wasn’t surprised that she didn’t hug her. But what did was the way her sister was looking at her boyfriend. Eddie thankfully was oblivious to it as he just stared at Y/n.
“It's the best.” Y/n hugged her mother again.
The doorbell rang, “Our last guest is here.” Sylvie clapped her hands together and left to answer it.
Y/n looked at Arthur, but he simply shrugged his shoulders in response. “Let’s get you a drink.”
A few minutes later Sylvie walked back out and was accompanied by none other than Charles. When Y/n saw him, she felt her mouth go dry and her heart jump.
He scanned the room before locking eyes with her. She had gotten more beautiful since he last saw her.
“Charles!” Claire broke the spell between the two and hugged him causing Y/n to walk away towards Eddie who wrapped an arm around her waist.
Charles noticed and felt jealous, but he wasn’t going to cause trouble. He needed to make amends with her.
A couple hours later Y/n was standing alone outside as everyone else was enjoying a nightcap. She felt his presence before he even said a word. He stood next to her with his back towards the balcony. “Hi.” he whispered gently.
“Hey.”
“I’m sorry.”
She looked up at him and she could see the sincerity in his eyes and nodded before looking back at the view.
“Can I have a hug?” he asked.
She took a second before stepping back and moving closer to him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer. Putting his face in the crook her neck she shivered as he spoke. “God, I missed you.”
She forced herself to move away. When he looked at her, he could see anger in her eyes. “You missed me?” she asked voice low.
“Yes.”
“So why didn’t you call? Message me back? Speak to me or see me when we were in the same country?”
“Y/n,”
She put up a hand to stop him. “Charles I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you sooner about leaving. But I tried to make amends and you ignored me.”
“I was in a bad space Y/n.’ he sighed. “I fucked up, I know but I need you to know how sorry I am.”
“I know you are. But that doesn’t mean you get a free pass.”
“I’m not asking for one. What I'm asking for is a chance to make it right. Please?”
The broken sound of his voice when he said please almost cause the entire wall she had built up to crumble. She looked back at him and nodded.

It was almost like no time had passed between the friends and soon they were almost back to normal. Almost. Charles knew it was going to take time for her to fully forgive him and he was determined to fix it. Hell, he would even deal with Eddie if it made her happy. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the guy, but she was HIS girl. The longer the races went on the more time he got to spend with her, and it made his heart leap. Everyone noticed how when she was around, he laughed and smiled more. Carlos and Max loved taking the micky out of him even going so far that he had to remind them that she had a boyfriend.
A fact she had to remind herself of lately it seemed. The more time she spent with Charles brought up old feelings, feelings she didn’t believe actually went away. She tried to tell herself that she was just happy that she had her friend back but every time he touched her, she felt herself get weak. Not to mention the feelings she got between her legs. She forced herself to focus on her relationship with Eddie, but he seemed to change. He would get extremely jealous and possessive whenever Charles was around or even when his name was mentioned. He would start an argument every chance he got. And today was no different. It was Saturday and she had to be at the Qualifying for the Baku race, and he didn’t want her to. “I get that you have to be at every race but why do you have to be there for the whole weekend?”
“We talked about this, it's my job.”
“Sure.”
She was frustrated and annoyed with him. “You knew this was how it was going to be Eddie when you decided to quit the force and come with me.”
“What I didn’t sign up for was all the time you would be spending with him.” She knew who the “him” was but choose to ignore it. “He’s not even on the team you work for.”
“Yes, but he is friends with Max and Checo.” She snapped. “He is going to be there.”
“Bet you love that.”
“Enough Eddie. I’m not going to justify having to do my job.” He chuckled sarcastically. “I’m not having this fight with you AGAIN. I have to go.” She grabbed her camera bag and keys. He grabbed her arm as she passed and held on tighter than necessary. “Just make sure your “job” doesn’t involve his bed.”
Y/n yanked her arm back and slapped him. “I am not you!”
He stepped back and placed a hand on his face where she had made contact. He had the decency to look ashamed. “Y/n, baby...”
She shook her head and left.

Charles had a spring in his step. He had just nailed qualifying scoring Pole Position and he had a good feeling about tomorrow. He was just exiting the Ferrari garage and was on his way to his car when he spotted Y/n in the Red bull garage. She was sitting against some locker's legs crossed with her laptop on her lap She had her earphones in and seemed to be absorb in what she was doing. “Hey stranger.”
She looked up from her screen and smiled weakly at him. “Hi.”
“What’s wrong?” he asked coming to sit beside her.
She took the earphones out and closed her laptop. “Nothing, I’m ok.”
“Wanna try that again?” he nudged her with a shoulder.
“Nothing I feel like talking about.”
He knew something was wrong and he hates the defeated look she had. He stood up and put out his hand. She gave him a look which caused him to chuckle. “Come on, I don’t bite. Not unless u want me too.” He wiggled his eyebrows and gave her a wink.
She shook her head with a smile, it wasn’t a full one, but it was his way on to get her to open up.
“You hungry?” he asked.
“I should,” she replied realising she had eaten breakfast that morning.
He took her, “So let’s go. I’m buying.”

He took her to one of the little cafes situated on the marine. He knew she would like it here as it had a magnificent view of the sunset. After ordering their food and drinks Charles sat back and just took in the view in front of him. He had always found her beautiful and had often thought about telling her. When she looked at him, he couldn’t hide his smile. “What?” she asked brushing a stray hair out her face.
“Just admiring the view.” He remarked making sure she knew it was her he was talking about.
She blushed.
“Mon Cheri, talk to me.”
She sighed. “Eddie and I had a fight.”
Oh. “About what?”
“Nothing, everything. I just feel like he resents me.”
“For what?”
“Leaving London and the force.” A waiter appeared with their drinks, and both thanked him before Charles asked her to continue. “When I got the offer from Christian to come work for Red bull, I told Eddie that it was going to chaotic at times. Travelling all the time and most weekends I would be working. He was okay with it. I gave him an out, but he wanted to be with me he said.”
“And now?” She started to bite her lip, something she started doing when she got frustrated or nervous. “Y/n,” he gentles said touching her hand.
“He hates that I’m spending some much time at the track and that it involves spending time with you guys.”
“Oh, he’s jealous.”
She rolled her eyes. “He doesn’t have anything to be jealous of. I mean sure if Max where to sweep me off my feet, then maybe,” she shrugged jokingly.
“And me?” he asked.
She gulped pulling her hand away from him. “You did great today.” She changed the subject.
They talked about the upcoming race well enjoying their food. But as they were making their way done the marine back to his car. He revisited the topic. “You never answered me.”
“About?”
He gave her a pointed look. “You know.”
“It's late, I have to go.”
He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him till they were face to face. She gulped at the closeness as well as the fact that he was holding her close, so close that she could feel his breath against her skin. “Charles,” she whispered.
He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. It was the lightest of touches, but it set her body alit. She should not be enjoying it this much. She had a boyfriend for goodness' sake. As he deepened the kiss, she felt herself responding. She felt his hand touch her bare skin as her shirt rode up and she gasped at the contact allowing him to slip his tongue inside. Her phone began to ring forcing them to pull about. He looked at her flushed cheeks and ran his thumb across her swollen lips as she tried to get her phone out of her bag. She looked down at the caller ID, Eddie. She stepped back from him forcing him to release his hold on her and she answered.
“Hi.”
“Where are u?” he heard Eddie ask.
“Work took a little longer. But I should be home soon.”
“You want me to come pick u up?”
“I have an Uber.”
“Baby I’m sorry.” He spoke.
Y/n looked back at Charles noticing he hadn’t stopped looking at her. “It's fine. Can talk about it later. I have to go, Uber is here.”
“Ok I’ll see you soon. I love you.”
“Me too,” she replied before ending the call.
Charles stepped closer to her, but she mirrored his steps backwards. Shaking her head, “I have to go.”
“Y/n,” he started but she shook her head and left

The next morning, she woke up to the small of cooking and tiredly climbed out of bed. She hadn't gotten much sleep the night before as her mind was swimming with the thought if the kiss. It had been so much better than she had dreamt about and even though she so desperately wanted to relive it she knew she couldn’t. The man she loved was just a room away and she need to get things with Eddie back on track. She made her way to the kitchen to find said man standing at the stove. She walked up behind him and wrapped her hands around his waist. He placed the spatula he was holding down and turned around keeping her hands firmly around his waist. He gave her a long kiss, which unwillingly she knew tasted different to Charles’.
“Morning.”
“Hi. What are you making?” she asked.
“Pancakes.” he smiled.
“I love pancakes.”
“I know. Babe I’m sorry about yesterday. I shouldn't have said those things.”
“I’m sorry I brought up Ashley.”

He sighed, “I deserved it. But I want to make it all up to you.” He released her and handed her the spatula. “Can you finish up the last bit? I need to get something from the room.” She nodded.
She had just finished the last of the batter and turned off the gas when he entered the room.
“Y/n?”
She turned around and her stomach dropped. Eddie had gotten down on one knee and had a diamond ring in his hand. “Y/n Russo I have loved you since the first moment I saw you and I know that lately things haven't been so great, but I know that I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?”

Later that day
“You cannot marry him. Not until you talk to Charles.” Y/n was standing in the Red bull Garage away from prying ears talking to Max. She had tried to get through to Arthur, but he was currently on a plane to Barcelona. Max was the next best person to talk to give the fact she most definitely was avoiding Charles. He had seen her and tried to talk to her, but she was able to avoid him.
“What is that going to help?”
“Y/n you and I both know that you are in love with him. Have been since we were kids. Not to mention that he is in love with you too.”
She furiously shook her head. “No, he is not. He just doesn't want me to be with someone and that’s the only reason he kissed me.”
“Sure. Listen Y/n I have to get ready for the race but trust me. Talk to him before you sign your life away to Eddie. I know you and Charles belong together.” he gently kissed her cheek as she wished him good luck and went over to his race partner.
She took a deep breath before deciding what the hell and made her way over to the Ferrari garage. She asked one of the mechanics were to find him before heading towards the driver's room. She stopped as she reaches the slightly open door and felt her heart break. Charles was there with Charlotte and the girl had her arms wrapped around his waist. Y/n turned away just as Charlotte lend up for a kiss.
The race flew by with Max winning the Grand Prix by just seconds as Charles finished 2nd follow up by Lando in 3rd.  She made sure to do her job and expertly avoided both Charles and Max who tried to make eye contact with her. Charles sent her a smile, but she continued to focus on her task at hand. Max was however able to catch up with her at the paddock. “Something happened.”
“Yes, I took your advice.” she snapped.
He raised his eyebrows at her tone. “Excuse me?”

“Sorry. I went to talk to him.”
“And?”
“And nothing. He was making out with Charlotte so there wasn’t any need to talk to him.”
Max swore in Dutch under his breath. “There must be some sort of explanation.”
“Yep, as I said he doesn't have feelings for. He clearly still loves her, and the kiss last night was just him wanting something someone else has.”
“We’ll talk to him at the party.”
“I'm not going.” she replied.
“You have to be there. Kelly is coming and she is desperate to see you.
“I’ll call her and make lunch plans.”
“Schat, don’t let him pull you away from us.” he was practically begging. “You have to come help me celebrate.”
She scratched her forehead, “Celebrating your wins is every week celebration you know.”
He pouted, “But you’re my good luck charm.”
“Fine.”
He picked her up and span her around. “Thank you Schat.”

She managed to enjoy the party for a few hours before she saw him. He looked so handsome and when he locked eyes with her, she wanted to melt. She could see he was trying to make his way towards her, but several fan girls kept stopping him to take photos or get his autograph. She looked around her and got up grabbing Lando’s hand. “Dance with me,” she said.
“Absolutely,” he grinned getting up.
As the two hit the floor the Monégasque finally reached the table. “Where is she?” he asked.
Max answered with a nod towards the dance floor but stopped his friend before he could make a beeline towards to two dancers. “What is it you want from her?”
Charles looked back at him. “Just her.” he quickly walked over to the floor and interrupted their dance. “Lando, do you mind?” he asked trying to keep his annoyance at bay.
Y/n tried to beg Lando to stay with her eyes, but the young Brit knew better than to stand in his friend's way and he also knew Charles was in love with her. “No problem. She’s all yours.”
Y/n glared at him as he left her with Charles who took her hands in his pulling her closer. “Youve been avoiding me Mon Cheri.”
“Been busy.”
“Look me in the eyes and say that.” She couldn’t. “Do you regret it?”
“No.”
“So why are you trying to run away from me?”
“He asked me to marry him.”
He nodded. “Let's go somewhere less noisy.” He led her to a staircase that ended on the roof top. He could see her shivering and he wasn't sure if it was from cold or been alone with him. He took off his jacket and put it around her.  “Did you say yes”
She sat down in one of the deck chairs before shaking her head, “But I didn't say no either.”
He sat down next to her knees touching and she stared down at the spot. “Why?”
“Because I’m in love with you.” she gulped feeling tears in her eyes.
He put a hand on her knee and the contact on her bare skin made her tingle and feel calm at once.
“Is that a bad thing?” he asked.
She looked up, “I have tried so hard for so long to get over this, to get over my feelings for you.”
He lifted his other hand and brushed the tears off her face. “Why don’t you want to love me?”
“You were always with someone else. You would never see me as anything other than a friend,”
“That’s not true. It's always been you Mon Cheri.”
She shook her head. “I heard you.” he cocked his head questioningly. “Just before my 16th birthday. I heard you and Claire talking.”
He shook his head. “Youre gonna have to be more specific.”
“You mentioned my annoying little crush on you before you made out with my sister.”
“Oh!” he laughed slightly. “Okay first off I didn’t make out with Claire, she kissed me, quite aggressively I might add and two...” he ran a finger down her chin, “Did you hear a name of the girl we were talking about?” she shook her head. He nodded, “You remember Abigail Martin?”
“Sure, I guess. She was Claire’s friend.”
“Psycho is what she was. She used to stalk me. Actually, dodged a bullet there when she turned her attentions to Dean Thomas.”
“What?”
“Cheri, I have always thought of you being more than just my friend. You’ve always been my girl it just took me losing you to release that I am in love with you. And I let my damn ego get in the way. Not to mention the fact that I wanted the best for you.”
“How was any if this the best for me?”
“Like you said this life can be chaotic. I wanted you to fulfil your dreams. To have a life.”
“And what if I wanted you?”
“I didn’t make all the right the choices. But I want to make the right choice. Don’t marry him. Be with me.” he asked supping her face between his hands.
“What about Charlotte?”
“What about her?” he asked.
“I saw you before the race. You kissed her.”
He shook his head, “Cheri no. She was at the race and yes, she wanted to get back together and tried to kiss me, but I don’t want to be with her. I want only you.”
“This isn't really.”
He kissed her before placing his forehead against hers. “Did that feel real?”
She closed her eyes, “Yes.”
“Do you remember what presents you got when you turned 21?”
“Why?”
“Humour me.”
“21 Orchids.”
“Red to be exact.” he smiled as she moved away slightly and stared at him.
“How? Was that from you?” she asked in surprise. He nodded. “But Orchids are...”
“Your favourite.”
“Yes.”
He smiled. “Your favourite movie is the Mummy, you like chocolate but only white. You prefer cheesecake over any other dessert. You like to travel but would choose to visit places that have historical meaning then go to the usual tourist attractions.”
“What?” she began but he placed a finger against her lips.
“When you don’t feel well you get quiet. A week before your period you start feeling nauseous and don’t want to eat only drink lots of orange juice. When it comes you like to snuggle up and watch comedies while eating strawberries and dragon fruit. But no Mangos as your......”
“Allergic.”
“And you love reading. Mostly thrillers but on the odd occasion a sappy romance novel. Which you always seem to find unrealistic. When your happy your eyes light up the brightest shade of green but when your sad the go dark green. And you have the most gorgeous smile I have ever seen, something I want to make sure you do every day.”
She didn’t say a word, only kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap. Only when air become a necessity did they pull apart. “How do you know all of that? Not even Arthur knows all of it. Especially the flowers. Everyone thinks I love sunflowers.”
“I paid attention, especially when it was about you. You always drew sunflowers, but I remember once when you were about 8/9 my dad took us to the nursery to get something for Mother's Day and I saw how you were in awe of the Orchids.”
“I love how beautiful and unique they are.”
“Just like you. One of a kind. I love you, always have.”
She put her head on his shoulder as he held her close. “What now?”
“Tell him no, then come home to me.”
“I like the sound of that.” she said kissing him again,
“Oh, one other thing.”
“What’s that?” she asked.
“At the next race youre wearing red, I want everyone to know your all mine.”

Now Traveling: Las Vegas, NV
Who doesn’t like traveling during the holiday season? Depending on which culture your holiday traditions stem from, this is the worst time of year to be traveling. Some cultures do this instead of the normal hullaballoo. As I am in a partnership now that is a combination of both cultures, I now squeeze in travel just before Christmas...
Tumblr media
Tuesday 12/20: Left Cali around noon ish and did not get much traffic but way too many cops. Did a rest stop at Valley Wells and I love the desert landscape, its one of my favorites. When we got into town we went to Hash House A Go Go. 3 people split the chicken and waffles, and the eggs benedict. The portions are huge, do not order one plate per person. We then visited the new home builder sites, you know work trip...LOL. We stayed at the Palazzo this time, which is funny we finally ended up there for how often we stay elsewhere and walk over. The rooms are huge, you could easily share that with family or friends. The christmas decorations this year felt a little underwhelming. We ate at Grand Lux for dinner, and even their basic items like salads are excellent, but if you eat there go for the beef wellington. Drove to other hotels to walk around and see the other holiday decorations. There is a new ish hotel called Resort World by Hyatt and they had a cute hallmark holiday walk through experience. It was cold, but if you bundled up it was alright. After we went to Fremont St, for the Fremont Street Experience. How that got...trashier...I could not tell you. Finally got some sleep. I always find it hard to sleep in something other than my bed.
Wednesday 12/21: The next morning we went to Bellagio Conservatory to see the years christmas display. I was worried because other people in our group had said all they did was get a live 40 foot tree and really, it was probably the best display seen on the trip. Truly the bellagio could not disappoint. And it was kind of nice to see the displays being freshened up and worked on too. After went to Grand Lux in the Venetian. Parking in the Palazzo is much better than parking in the Venetian. Grand Lux for breakfast, I love the French Toast. It truly is the best french toast I have ever eaten. A good french toast is a mixture of good bread and good mix. I find often places get one or the other right, but never both. Walked breakfast off at the Aria after. Aria is one of the new ish hotels on the strip, and I personally prefer the hotels with better themes or personalities (ya know the older ones). They had a not bad christmas display in previous years, this years was not as good. We had a couple of $50 free plays, from myKonami, and used them at Bellagio, Aria, and New York New York. Most of the gabmling was not good, but Deal or No Deal saved our butts LOL. We went to Gelato Bar after, it is one of the few places I like to eat Gelato (when I am not in Italy). There is a whole world off the strip that more people should explore. We wanted to go to the Pinball Hall of Fame, which last time we went to it was relocating so we helped sponsor the relocation and I thought my name was going on a wall? But we were tired so went back to rest. Had lunch at Grand Lux, it is owned by the people who run The Cheesecake Factory. Dinner was Cleaver, an off strip steak house. For the fact that there was 11 other people besides myself...we basically tried the whole menu. Nothing was a bad time.
Thursday 12/22: The final day started with packing and putting the bags in the car, then heading to Bouchon. It is a wonderful french food experience. Their pastries are excellent, and really the food is still quite good. Over the years I have seen the menu change but it is still very good. The rest of the group wanted to have a buffet experience, and honestly there are not many buffets that made it out of COVID. So walk over to the Wynn we go. The wynn had pretty good stuff, nothing really new, but it felt very classic christmas to me overall in Vegas this year. If you are going to do a buffet, do it early or get a reservation. The line for standby was at least an hour long. Once we got the rest of the group in, we left for Cali. We made a pit stop in the original Del Taco in Barstow. I have been going to Del Taco for sooo long, but the experience at the OG one was amazing. It may have ruined my local del taco experience. The recipe is so different, I had a taco burger! And a tamale! Since we left Vegas around noon, it was almost 6 when we made it back between stops and traffic.
The only constant in the world is change and its funny to see how Vegas has changed. Price have gone up, but the classic christmas trend is almost a conservative jump back that you can see reflected in society. Travelling is a strange way to enjoy the holidays, but it is not all bad!

urgent romance intervention | kim seungmin
Tumblr media
genre: slight angst, fluff, humor
warnings: none!
prompt: everyone thinks we’re already dating, but we’re just best friends--oh wait--
word count: ~3.2k
a/n: first of all, im so sorry for literally dropping off the face of the earth after opening requests. i’ve been in a deep writing slump and i just managed to somewhat pull myself out of it with this fic. >.< to the lovely anon who sent this, im so so sorry if this isnt as good as you wanted it! i’ve just been having a very hard time writing. i hope this isn’t too far off from what you expected! as always, im so so grateful to everyone who has supported this blog, it means so much to me! love you all! <3
“We are not dating!”
This was absolutely ridiculous. Of all the crazy things you had imagined yourself doing once you got to college, you never thought you'd be having to deny dating allegations (from some pretty close friends, no less). What made this situation even more bizarre, was the fact that the topic of these allegations, your supposed “boyfriend,” was none other than your best friend, Kim Seungmin.
“There's no need to be so private, Y/N. We aren't prudes here,” Jisung looked far too smug sitting across from you as you worked on your project together at a random campus cafe with your other group member, Minho.
You couldn't help but scoff at his words, writing in your notebook with a little more ferocity than usual. A little was an understatement, actually; your pencil was practically cutting into three pages at this point, “I'm not being private, I'm being honest. I'm not dating Seungmin.”
“Are you sure?” Jisung continued to press for details, leaning forward with wide eyes.
“I think I'd be aware if I was dating my best friend,” you rolled your eyes, taking another big bite of your croissant, holding it with your left hand as you continued to take notes with your right.
Minho coughed and muttered the words similar to, “You'd be surprised,” under his breath, but you were too sick of this conversation to care.
You had a total of five minutes of pleasant peace and quiet when Jisung spoke up once more, “I think you two are cute, for what it’s worth,” he said, nibbling at his cheesecake.
“I very much appreciate it, but I’d appreciate it much more if you actually worked on our project,” you smiled pleasantly, gripping your mechanical pencil so hard you were sure it would snap. Jisung huffed, blowing the hair out of his face when your phone buzzed on the table.
“Oh, it’s your boyfriend,” Minho interjected with a smug smile.
You scowled. You definitely didn’t get enough sleep to be in the mood to deal with this, “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you rolled your eyes, grabbing your phone.
“Are you sure? I bet you it’s him.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. He’s in class right now, and you know Seungmin hates to text--” your voice died right in your throat as you stared at the notification. What the hell was going on? Since when did Seungmin ever text anyone during his classes? But phones don’t lie, and the alert was definitely about the two unread messages from your best friend.
seungmo
wanna get dinner tonight?
i got a reservation at the hotel restaurant you like
me
how in the world did you get that?! i try to get it for special occasions and i always have to book like three months in advance
seungmo
just some connections
wanna go?
me
hell yeah. see ya soon :)
“So, who’s the lucky texter?” Jisung put his elbows on the table, smiling at you with a devious smirk.
You gave both him and Minho a wary glare as you slipped your phone back into your bag, flipping around your textbook again and continuing to work on the project as you muttered, “Seungmin.”
“Ah, see? I knew he cared about you more than school,” Minho sighed dreamily, which honestly made you want to hurl, “That’s true love, isn’t it, Sungie?”
Jisung nodded fervently and you finally snapped, throwing your pen down, “Why the fuck does everyone think we’re dating?! We’re not!”
“Oh yeah? So what did he text you about?” Jisung asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
You pursed your lips, snapping once more, “Just about--” you faltered slightly, processing Seungmin’s messages as your expression morphed from indignant to almost confused.
“About what, Y/N?” Jisung tried again, a smile already quirking his lips upward as he studied your expression. Damn him. Damn Minho. Damn this whole fucking thing.
“About going out for dinner,” you answered under your breath, resting your chin on your arms as you muttered defensively, “It’s not even that big of a deal. We eat dinner together all the time.”
Minho snorted, “Of course. I bet he even said he made reservations at some fancy ass restaurant,” When the only answer to his accusation was silence, he couldn’t help but scoff, “For someone as bright as you, you’re pretty oblivious about flirting, aren’t you?”
“Watch it,” There was an undertone of a growl as you bared your teeth at him, “I’m the only reason you’re all getting A’s on this project. Don’t test me.”
Jisung shrugged, “If it means finally getting you laid, I’m willing to take an L,” he said simply, twirling his pen as your cheeks grew flush, and with an angry huff, taking your notebook and smacking his arm with it.
“My sexual life is none of your business,” you snapped, steam practically shooting out of your head as you glared at the two boys. How you three ended up being friends was always going to be something you’d never understand.
“It was none of our business because there was nothing to talk about. Things are different now, sweetie,” Minho snickered, giggling with Jisung like a pair of gossipy school girls as he whispered to you , “Trust me, I got this information first hand. Did you know Seungmin actually has a monster--”
“That’s it. You’re doing this project on your own.”
“W-wait--Y/N!”
.
“Of course you can skip overtime today! It’s not like you’re ever obligated to stay,” your boss at the local bookstore said happily as you hesitantly asked her if it would be alright if you didn’t close up for the day.
Still, despite her reassurances, you bit your lip, “A-are you sure? I could tell my friend to just go with someone else,” you trailed off just as the woman took your hands in hers, shaking her head fervently.
“No, no, no, don’t do that. Of course, you can leave at six. Hell, I wouldn’t even mind if you left at five since you already do so much for me,” she chuckled, smiling at you, “Where are you going? Party? Club?”
“No,” you said with a sheepish smile to compliment her wolfish grin. You both knew that alcohol was definitely not your thing “Just a fancy dinner at a fancy place, apparently.”
"Oh! With a boyfriend?" She asked as the two of you walk around sorting the newly arrived books into different categories.
Your face burned with embarrassment, "No, it's just Seungmin," you muttered in response, carrying a stack of books over to a large pile of nonfiction novels.
"So, a boyfriend," she said simply, not even bothering to look at you.
Unlike with Minho and Jisung, you couldn't blow up at her or snap. Not just because she was your boss, but because Mrs. Kim was probably the sweetest woman alive, and you could never bear saying anything remotely rude towards her.
"Seungmin isn't my boyfriend, Mrs. Kim," you replied politely as you checked a book for rips or printing errors before putting it into the newly growing pile.
"He's not? But he's always looking after you, dear!" Mrs. Kim looked almost offended by your denial, which was exactly what you were trying to avoid.
You shuffled uncomfortably,  "Well, we've been best friends for years, and his mom would kill him if he didn't take care of me,” you quickly fumbled for an excuse and smiled like you were being forced to take a yearbook photo or pose with the sun hitting your eyes.
"I've never seen a best friend spend his whole paycheck getting their friend a limited edition of a book series they were dying to get," Mrs. Kim pointed out rather dryly. Where was this sass coming from? Was this really the same woman that fed you homemade pastries on your first day of work? It certainly didn't feel like it.
"He only bought it because I was practically nagging him for months,” your excuses became more relaxed as you let them spill off your lips more. After all, they've lived in your head for the last seven years. It was just like dusting off an old notebook.
"Oh, this is ridiculous," Mrs. Kim threw her hands up in utter exasperation as she barked, "Hyunjin!"
The poor boy almost dropped the pile of books he was carrying as his head whipped up to look at Mrs. Kim with a panicked expression. He never really got over the trauma of spilling tea all over Mrs. Kim's favorite book even though she forgave him after a day of sulking.
"Yes?" he squeaked, his eyes wide as he was probably preparing himself to die at the hands of your boss. It would be almost funny how afraid Hyunjin was of a sixty year old woman if you weren't just as terrified of her when she barked your name.
"Who's Y/N dating?" she asked.
Hyunjin's panicked expression all but vanished as he realized that he wasn't the one in trouble, and he answered matter-of-factly as he glanced over at you, "Seungmin. Why?"
You sputtered in indignation. First Jisung, then Minho, and now Hyunjin, too?
"We're not dating!" You exclaimed for what was probably the twentieth time in the last two hours alone.
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, "Please, you're not fooling anybody here."
You gawked at Hyunjin, unsure whether you wanted to sock him in the face or rat him out to Changbin for replacing the rapper's shampoo with pink dye, "What in the world gave you the idea that we're together?"
"Y/N, you two literally hold hands unironically," Hyunjin pointed out.
"Friends do that all the time!"
"He ditches us in an instant whenever you call him to hang out."
"That's because you guys see each other every day, and I only get to see him on the weekends."
"He was literally draped around you during movie night last weekend."
"Maybe he's just touchy."
Hyunjin glanced at you with a skeptical eyebrow, immediately calling out your bullshit, "You didn't seriously call Kim Seungmin a touchy person, did you?"
You looked away scowling, because Hyunjin always had an uncanny knack for seeing through people's masks. Especially with you;  you knew he always suspected your hidden feelings for your best friend, even when the rest of his friends were happily oblivious.
Mrs. Kim raised a disbelieving eyebrow, "Are you so against the idea of dating him? Because let me tell you, as a girl that hooked up with boys left and right during my prime time-"
"Oh my god, Mrs. Kim, I really didn't need to hear that," you groaned in mortification, covering your flushed face with a book.
"He's one of the good ones," Mrs. Kim finished before glancing at you with a bemused smile, "If it's not because you don't want him, then what's the problem, dear?"
You felt cornered. It wasn't fair. Hyunjin and Mrs. Kim were looking at you like they knew everything when they didn't. They didn’t know how much you’ve pined over this man, how much carefully crafted effort and time you’ve spent trying desperately to get over him.
"I don't want to think that I'm special and then have to wake up to the cruel realization that I'm not," you said flatly,  although from the shift in Hyunjin's expression, he could hear the pained inflection hidden in your voice.
He opened his mouth to say something probably reassuring when Mrs. Kim interrupted, “So it's fear. What are you afraid is going to happen?”
This was definitely the wrong time to be having a conversation like this, during working hours when you were supposed to probably be helping customers. But there was no one in the store and no one outside about to come in either, so you couldn't help but be a little revealing.
“We don't go to the same school anymore,” you explained uncomfortably, “If he hasn't already, he'll probably meet someone kinder, gentler, softer than I could ever be. I don't even have the advantage of time on my side now.”
“Okay, first off,” Hyunjin interrupted, glancing at Mrs. Kim and then back at you, “Seungmin has never looked at anyone the way he looks at you. He's totally hung up on you, just like he was back in high school."
"You don't know that," you muttered, fumbling with your fingers.
Hyunjin rolled his eyes, "Don't tell me what I know and don't know. I literally see him checking his messages for your replies at least twice every ten minutes."
“Stop it,” you snapped, looking at him, eyes blazing, “Stop making this sound obvious. You don’t have any right to act like a fucking love expert when all everyone does is fawn over you--”
“Okay, both of you need to cool off. We’re still in a bookstore here,” Mrs. Kim glared at Hyunjin who immediately lost his high horse attitude and ducked away to keep working.
"Darling," Mrs. Kim took your hands in hers, the anger on her face softening into an expression akin to sympathy, "I don't know what you've gone through to think that you're not worthy, but take it from the words of an old woman. If a boy is waiting for you to get off of work with a bouquet of flowers in his hand, chances are that he thinks of you as more than a friend."
You blinked at her in confusion before following her line of sight, and your heart did a weird backflip as you saw none other than Kim Seungmin, standing outside of the bookstore with a sheepish smile and bouquet of roses in his hands.
.
This was definitely the strangest day of your life, you thought as you sat directly across from Seungmin, absently admiring the rose petals. It was one thing for Seungmin to take you out for dinner (he always liked spending his big fat paycheck from interning at that fancy tech company), but the flowers threw you off.
Weren’t roses meant for dates? Was this a date? You looked around at the lavish restaurant, the candlelit atmosphere and the plethora of couples eating around you.
No, definitely not a date.
"Are you alright?" Seungmin asked with the gentle smile he only showed you. Funny, was it Hyunjin corrupting your mind, or did Seungmin's eyes sparkle when you looked at him?
You nodded, carefully putting down the flowers on the ground underneath your chair to make sure no one accidentally steps on them, "Yeah, I just had a weird day."
"Weird how?" Seungmin reached for your hand that was resting on the table, causing your stomach to do a somersault. Damn those stupid boys who just don't know when to keep their mouths shut! You just can't stop overthinking things anymore!
Wait. Now that you think about it, no thanks to those little shits, Seungmin has been abnormally affectionate the last few times you've hung out, holding your hand, letting you rest your head on his shoulder when you got tired, even full on cuddling with you when Jisung hosted a group movie night at his apartment. You'd reasoned it all in your head that he was probably just going through his more clingy phases, but now thinking back, Seungmin never liked to cuddle, even in his most clingy moments. And yet, he'd wordlessly pulled you to his chest that movie night as if he'd wanted you to cuddle with him all his life, even when his friends were around.
“Y/N?” He prompted gently, his eyes now filled with a hint of concern as he rubbed the back of your hand with his thumb.
The rational part of you wanted to just forget this whole thing. The boys say dumb shit all the time; how can this be any different? It would be so simple, so easy for you to just do as you’ve always done when it came to your feelings and run away.
But your heart, your lonely heart that has known nothing but secret glances and unrequited love was aching to take a chance. Minho, Jisung, and Hyunjin were idiots, but they weren’t cruel. They wouldn’t give you this false hope for nothing.
And for the first time, your heart won over, and you decided to be honest.
“Well, the boys keep saying that we’re dating,” you chuckled sheepishly, trying not to focus on Seungmin’s hand wrapped around yours.
To your surprise, Seungmin’s eyes grow wide as saucers as he all but squeaked, “They what now?”
You blinked, trying to be too taken aback by his reactions, “Minho and Jisung just yabbering on about us, and Hyunjin didn’t bat an eye when my boss asked him who I was dating,” you glanced at him, throwing caution to the wind as you asked hesitantly, “You don’t happen to know about this, right?”
Seungmin might as well have held up a giant flashing sign that said he absolutely knew about it. His ears grew bright red, redder than you’ve ever seen them turn, and he stammered for a moment, trying to find his words, “I-I--um--I told them not to use that plan.”
The carefully crafted excuse to get both of you out of this awkward situation that you held on the tip of your tongue immediately disintegrated, “W-what plan?” you stuttered out in disbelief.
Seungmin looked almost crushed as he pulled his hand out of yours, putting his head in his hands as he rested his arms on the table, “This stupid plan they made for me to ask you out,” he muttered, and if your hearing was ever so slightly worse, you would’ve missed those words completely.
“Why would you need a plan to ask me out?” you asked, and your heart could almost leap out of your chest at this point. It felt horrid waiting, waiting for the confession or the rejection. You’d almost regretted opening this can of worms when Seungmin suddenly looked up at you, his expression distraught.
“Why?” he repeated, smiling bitterly, “Was I really so out of your league that you didn’t notice how in love with you I’ve been this entire time?”
Your mind went blank and it felt as if someone had yanked the ground out from under you. This whole image of unrequited affection, this whole idea that you were never good enough for Seungmin to even look your way, it was all a farce, a con that was now being torn apart by his simple question.
“S-seungminnie,” your voice refused to work the way you wanted it to, and you stumbled over your words, “I didn’t know--I’m so sorry--I had no idea…”
“Hey, it’s alright,” Seungmin immediately sounded concerned as he watched you fall apart in front of him, “You didn’t do anything wrong, you have nothing to be sorry for--”
“I thought I wasn’t good enough for you!” You blurted out, looking into his warm, brown eyes as the shame bubbled out of your chest and you lowered your head, “I thought...I thought you would find someone better than me at your new university, at your new job.”
Seungmin sighed, and he reached over, resting to fingers under your chin and tilting your head up to look at him as he smiled, “There’s no one else I want except you,” he whispered, and you could’ve sworn your heart combusted right there.
And when Seungmin took you to the Christmas lights after dinner, the bouquet of roses still in your arms as he pressed his soft lips against yours, you couldn’t wait to go up to your friends the next day and proudly declare that yes, you were absolutely dating Kim Seungmin.
(and maybe give them a Starburst for making it happen.)

2022
Happy New Year, my friends!
I spent 2 weeks back home with my family. Xmas was very small and our holiday meal was humble yet enjoyable. It wasn’t until later when my extended family showed up that it really stirred up some drama. To put simply, things got too heated in the end and we won’t be seeing them anymore. Next year, Xmas will be just me, my bro and my parents, which honestly sounds great. 2022, I suppose like 2021, will be spent making the most of what we have and appreciating it.
I rolled up the cooking sleeves this Xmas... Made eggnog, spiked cheesecake, egg coffee, pumpkin cookies... Became a wine enthusiast lol. I know, it’s about time eh. If there’s any time I’ve ever felt so 30 years old... it’s right now.
My bro was introduced to Xenoblade 2 since I was still finishing it up over vacation. Like with most things, he did a 1-week speed-run of the game while we were still together and nearly caught up to me (which is pretty much the end). Just hours before we had to part ways, I loaded up my file and decided to beat the game so he could see the ending. On New Year’s Eve! You better believe I started Torna on Jan 1st. Starting the 2022 off right, folks...
When I think about last year, I realize I was put to the test in many ways and came out better for it. Learned some things about myself, made some embarrassing choices. Broke some friendships, gained some. It really is just about doing the things that you feel will improve your life and letting people go if they’re not meant for you. I try not to worry too much about my choices. I’m gonna be okay and they’re gonna be okay.
No NY resolutions this year, it’s the circumstances’ turn to change.

The Plant Saga
I feel like this new addition perfectly embodies my taste. Bold. Tropical. AND RED! It’s not that exotic but I think the challenge is keeping it healthy for many years and getting it to bloom again. Most people just throw them out when holidays are over...
I have named him Lloyd.
Tumblr media
Most Enjoyable Webtoons
I started reading Webtoons last Xmas so it was my 1-year anniversary lol. It became more than just entertainment. I’ve actually learned so much about storytelling!
These are my top 5:
Mystical: An artist awakens a mysterious life form from the sea. She wants to learn about where she came from and where she is now.
Tumblr media
Mom, I’m Sorry: An ungrateful son sacrifices 40 years of his lifespan to save his mom from dying. When she wakes up, she’s back to being 20 years old. Wanting to make up for his mistakes, he gives his mom a second chance at achieving her dreams. T_T
Tumblr media
Novae: A necromancer and astronomer discover the mysteries of their culturally rich and complex world... amidst a series of murders.
Tumblr media
Remarried Empress: A dangerously intelligent woman navigates herself gracefully through political and emotional drama within the palace.
Tumblr media
Your Letter: A girl finds a series of mysterious letters to aid her through the troubles of fitting-in in a new school.
Tumblr media
Nerd Stuff
My roommate and I finally beat Xillia 2 when we got back from our respective vacations. Wow it was something. From gameplay to plot to mechanics, that was the weirdest Tales game ever. Not my most loved game, but I had a good time. We’re trying to make it through the Ex dungeon and boy, do I feel TESTED.
-
Not that this is anything new, but I am in the mood for retro anime (which is all the time, but I feel it especially strong nowadays). I feel terribly indifferent to current shows so I’ll be taking a journey to explore 80s anime OVAs. The animation quality, copious amounts of sci-fi, and art styles intrigue me. Recs appreciated!
-
Last but not least, I will account my greatest achievement of 2021: getting my friends into Lupin III. The sweet, sweet feeling of finally being united in one fandom again after years of us never being aligned!
We tried out this video sharing site called kosmi and it works pretty well for us. You can decorate your lobby with... stuff LOL.

Hi! I saw you were taking requests and wanted to see if you can do a Loki x reader where Loki goes to readers bakery to try midgardian desserts?
a/n: hiii! aww this actually sounds so adorable, of course! loki trying new things is my reason to smile 🥺
warnings: none just fluff and the use of Y/N (i couldn't find any other way)
Desserts
Tumblr media
It was pretty calm today. Some familiar faces of some customers have appeared, requesting what they generally buy in here, and some new faces as well.
Right now it's 5pm and there hasn't been a customer in the last 15 minutes, until I heard the door bell chime, indicating that someone stepped inside the store. When I looked up to see who it is, my mouth falls slightly.
It was Loki.
The same Loki who led that alien army into New York a couple of years ago. I only got a glimpse of him on the tv, but now he's standing right in front of me as he looks around and gives me a small smile.
The Avengers announced a few months ago that Loki meant no more harm to Earth anymore, and that it was safe. So I returned the smile. He made a mistake, and he doesn't seem like he's going to attack me now.
"Hi, how can I help you?" I greeted him. He looked at the counter filled with desserts, pastries, and bread.
"Hello, I've come to try one of your desserts." He said before looking straight into my eyes.
Ok, so his deep voice caused a reaction inside of me. He's also very tall and handsome-
"Of course! What would you like?" I asked as I grabbed a paper bag to fill it with what he wants.
"Well... That's the issue... I don't have much knowledge about midgardian treats." He said looking at the counter again. I nodded understanding.
"I see... Is there anything that catches your eye that you would like to try?" I asked. He looked at me and then back at all the options, fiddling with his fingers probably deciding.
Then, his eyes stopped at a certain plate. He pointed at it and smiled a bit. "What is that?" Loki asked.
I looked towards the direction he was pointing at and smiled. "That's a Passion fruit Cheesecake. Would you like to try it?" I asked before taking out a piece.
"Don't I have to pay before trying it?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.
"It's alright. You can try a bit of anything you'd like, and if you do end up liking something, then you can pay for it." I said with a shrug.
Loki smiled and nodded. "Oh, well, that's very kind. Thank you. There was nothing to eat in the compound where I live, so I got desperate and came to the city to find something." He said. I chuckled.
"The Avengers don't have anything to eat? That's horrible." I said jokingly and he laughed, which made my stomach flutter.
Loki proceeded to try the cheesecake, and by the look on his face, he loved it. Each dessert called his attention and I let him try it. He liked even more the ones that had chocolate in them. I smiled everytime he showed to like them. To be honest, I enjoyed his company a lot.
"What's that one?" He asked pointing at a different plate.
"That's a Whipped Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake." I said and took out a piece for him to try it.
When Loki took a bit, he made a weird face, making me laugh. "You don't like it?" I asked.
"Not at all." Loki said and looked back up at me. "What is your name?" He asked.
"Y/N Y/L/N." I said with a soft smile. Loki nodded.
"Y/N. That's quite a pretty name." He said and I blushed an looked down.
"Thanks." I managed to say as I tried to compose myself. He grinned noticing how flustered I was.
"Well, Y/N, I will be taking the Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Mousse Pie. I must admit, it was one of my favorites." Loki said and I nodded. The way he said my name caused an effect in me.
"That's an excellent choice. I actually like that one as well." I said as I put it in a paper bag for him to take and handed it to him. Loki placed the money on the counter, grabbed the bag but held my hand in his.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Y/N. I plan on coming back here for more of your delicious desserts." He said before placing a small kiss on the back of my hand, and looking back up at me with a grin. My heart flutter as I stared at him. When his hand left mine, I cleared my throat and nodded.
"I look forward to it, Loki." I said smiling. He returned the gesture and nodded before walking out of the store. My legs were jelly and the smile on my face never left.
Oh, I hope to see Loki again.

honeymoon masterlist
word count: 1468
music: i’m not worried at all by moby
warnings: suicide
Picture this: you were sitting on the asphalt, balancing on your zombie board, in your new grunge jean shorts which were your current obsession. The road was empty, only the high palm trees leaned down a little as if trying to see closely what Kai Parker is doing.
In front of him, on the ground as well, your red bike stood upside down, and he was very busy with the drive, fooling around with the screw. He was the best with the small pieces mechanisms, and the more the machine was, the less interest it sparked in him.
The street was almost magenta with the intense glow of the Maui volcano induced smoky sunset. There was this particular street in Ala Moana in Honolulu that you liked to hang out on, because it had the smoothest roads. And the view of the mountains was insane. Everything on Oahu was breathtaking, even the white and yellow rocks forming the Mermaid Whirlpool on the North Shore. Since there was no one here but you, there was no way to find out whether mermaids really lived on Oahu. Which was a big loss. Nobody else but you...
“Here’s the thing, I’ve trained myself, but you’ll learn it pretty quickly”, Kai nodded like he knew what he was saying. You were swinging yourself gently on the road. “That’s how I coped with it so many years. I just took one state of mind, and stretched it for months...”
You hummed and sipped on your A&W. Kai was going insane on Zima, but you were more of a root beer kind of girl.
“How’s that?”
“You keep telling me about the three foot world. Make it one foot”, he pulled the drive chain, and stained his shirt a little. You watched the muscles of his arm working as he tried to temper your bike.
“What do you feel right now?”
You lifted your face to the sky and looked at the colored clouds. Insane spectacular show. You felt fulfilled and at the root of it, was the understanding you were screwed, and it was Kai who screwed you. It was his fault you two clicked, and matched, and he made you complete. He made you feel like this inescapable situation was not bad at all.
“I don’t want to say”, you smiled. Kai grinned in return,
“What, embarrassed to say you like what you’re seeing?”
“I feel peaceful”, you tried to dismiss his suggestiveness. “Somehow”.
“I bet Moby is playing in your head”, he muttered. Parker knew you well. “It’s always ambient with you when the sun is setting. You feel pink?”
“I feel pink and peaceful”.
“I feel like mango cheesecake. I take this, and I pull it on myself, and I stay like this for as long as I can. That way, you don’t feel time, because you’re entertained. You think about cheesecake all the time”.
You looked through him, trying to imagine listening to ambient Moby in your head for months, and not thinking about anything else.
“You do the opposite thing now, we hop from place to place, you switch between things so fast. I understand you’re curious about everything, but don’t hurry to explore this world. Hang around in one place until you know it inch by inch, then move on. There’s a chance we’re never getting out of here”.
You looked at how the light was changing, and his pale face was the canvas. He never got tanned, no matter how much time you were spending on the beach. Sometimes he’d get a bit darker by the night, but you barely caught that.
The hollow, heavy wail of the sky was growing louder in your head.
“You seem completely fine with it”, you mused. Kai froze for a second, like a rabbit, and then continued to work.
“Not gonna lie”, he shrugged.
“What you’re suggesting is”, you downed your soda can and threw it away down the street. This one was a bit tilted, and you both watched the can roll a little. Or, rather, listened.
“Becoming the human GIF picture in slow motion”.
“Exactly. Your mind is racing now, you’ve only been here, what, eight months? But we’ll synchronize”, he murmured as he pushed the drive, and it clicked. Kai held the ramp of the bike in between his knees. He then spun one wheel and looked at it.
“Life feels very long that way”.
He finished with the bicycle and ran into the house to wash his hands. He changed the shirt and hopped out with his own skateboard under his arm. The sun was almost down.
“Let’s go?”
Tumblr media
You have finally mastered the whole skating thing. The major issue was feeling stable and safe on these four little wheels constantly trying to tilt you off on the ground. Now you were in control of the balance, and had no difficulty riding for pleasure.
You went down the King Street, passing by the low broken down houses of the locals of Honolulu. All the rich houses were there on the North Shore, where you slept. Here was the feeling of that long life.
You held his hand as you slid down the street quietly, without a word, only the hissing of the boards on the asphalt. You looked at the clouds and the sky, the fluff of the palm tree tops, and thought about the one foot world.
The line of the ocean was glowing far on the left with dark gold. The gigantic disk of the sun was sinking in the Pacific.
You felt like you were painlessly dying on the inside, and held his hand as it guided you, as you were taking in all this beauty around. Until you know the place inch by inch
Something about his words didn’t make sense, but you couldn’t figure out what.
Al the knowledge meant nothing perhaps?
You looked at Kai and how perfectly he fit in here, a part of this world, a part of this air and this evening.
You let go of his hand, squeezing his fingers lightly, and pushed yourself forward and a little bit on the left, towards somebody’s parked truck with a stack of steel rods tied up in the open box. Kai didn’t have time to steer after you, you were like a bullet. The stillness of the street was broken by the sharp crach of your bones as you imapled yourself on the rods. The bloody pink sprayed into the sky, or so it felt, when the dozen of hard, stainless swords went right through your body. At the last moment you thought that maybe you shouldn’t have; but you didn’t slow down. The acceleration threw you on, and the zombie board rolled on under the truck safely and showed up on the other side, quietly continuing its journey.
You gasped, as all air got knocked out of you. So far, it was the most pain you’ve had here.
Shit, you should never do that, just for the record.
Kai threw the board away and ran to you, standing behind your back, as you started wiggling on the rods like a frog on a fork.
“Shit”, he muttered. You heard his quiet voice behind your ear as your eyes rolled down with pain, your own sounds completely vanquished by the blinding white agony in your chest.
Kai managed to peel you off them, and you finally groaned, which was more like a wheeze. Your body and brain were going numb.
He sat on the ground; you saw his confused and slightly irritated face above you, with the unmistakable background of the hawaiian sky. You saw the clouds, drifting hurriedly off the dome, for he night, and recalled how you believed they can be touched, when you were a child. How shameful it is that we can never get what we want, you thought, out of nowhere. As if it was too much to ask, to touch the clouds. They always look so wholesome and the perfect pastel color. You used to dream about jumping from cloud to cloud like they were boucing castles.
“This must hurt”, Kai said, “you should’ve asked me”.
Yes, you should have. Your neck twitched, feeling escaping from your limbs. You heard your own blood drip from your sides on the asphalt, and Kai’s hard knee under your back. The pain was slowly fading away, and so you tried to make him look up and somehow let him know what you’re thinking about: how cool it would be, to bounce from cloud to cloud? It wouldn’t be much better in the outside world; the clouds are absolutely off the limits there. The feeling of doom was now buried in your mind, six feet deep, as you thought,
I’m not worried at all.
You decided that as soon as you wake up, you will kiss him the way you’ve never kissed him before, so that it means something. Kai Parker has finally become the person you relied on the most in this world.

I had a nice birthday, for breakfast I had some strawberry and red bean crepes. I don't typically have sweets first thing in the morning so it was a treat and perfect to eat on the patio during a sun shower, before it started getting hot. We were supposed to get a storm again today and yeah really got hit. The dirt road turned into a river, effectively cutting us off from civilization. Pretty sure the park flooded again, we might head there tomorrow. I opted to make my own cake this year, usually it would be a tres leche or pineapple upside down cake, but I did something different, a cheesecake. A very simple one that I decorated with fruits I got from the self serve stand, lots of peaches. Someone also generously supplied a basket of fresh lemongrass, just 50 cents for two stalks. I've never tried it fresh but I heard it makes a good tea, so I stuck some in a water bottle. I think it's a new favorite. For dinner I made clam chowder in a tiny mini sourdough round, and seafood salad with feta, shrimp, fish cake, olives and cucumber. My family gave me some really nice gifts. My brother got me a really nice humidifier for my room and one for himself, it can get very dry inside the house and that causes breathing issues for us as we were born in a more moist environment. He also got me one of those Chilly Mini Towels, the kind where you can soak in cold water and put it on your neck and it supposedly cools you down by ten degrees. I was always skeptical of those but it actually works. Naturally he got one for himself too. XD My mom got me really nice Italian soaps, a lemon one and lavender. She used to have them in her bathroom back home and they'd last forever, so I'm happy to get some too. Other things she got was a Pacifica Coconut Water face gel and Cactus water mi cellular water cleanser, as well some Sunbum Heat Protecter for my hair. All of them smell like summer. I got myself some art gifts shipped in, I actually got them two days ago but I didn't open my package til now. It was nothing fancy, just some Koi Watercolors, a pad of canvas paper and Canson watercolor paper. I turned one sheet into postcards for etegami style art tomorrow. I would've done it today but I started cleaning up the pantry, which was getting really cluttered, then just sort of started experimenting with my new art supplies all day as the rain fell. I really love the neon watercolors, I feel like I can do some neat stuff on black paper with them. Annnd that's it. I had a nice peaceful birthday!

My dumb headcanons about Mrs. Levin and her side of the family
Bc I cannot stop myself and love thinking way too much about Kevin's family tree bc that's how I express my love for characters
-Deborah Rifka Rozowski was born in 1969 at Kings County Hospital
-She has an older sister named Nancy, whom she's thick as thieves with
-Their father was a very physically abusive parent and their mother had untreated postpartum depression that led to her attempting suicide several times during their childhoods
-Their father had threatened to put her in an institution more than once in front of them
-In addition to a rough home life, she grew up in Brooklyn during the Son of Sam killings, the 1977 blackout, and later the crack epidemic. So it's safe to say she survived by being tough and street smart.
-Deb also had a deep of love of books and writing. It started as a form of escapism, but also became an outlet for her to express her feelings in ways that weren't picking fights
-At 16, Deb's father kicked her out. Nancy immediately put her up at her apartment with her husband Ira, but Deb ended up leaving in the middle of the night. Nancy was already heavily pregnant and Deb didn't want to feel like a burden, but also just wanted to leave Brooklyn and New York and get as far away from her current life as much as possible. Of course being a teenager, she assumed this meant she had to cut ties with her mother and sister.
-Deb wandered for the next few years, hitchhiking her way across the country and making money through odd jobs, mostly pick pocketing and mugging people though.
-At 19, she was in a city just outside of LA called Bellwood, where she ended up trying to mug Devin Levin
-Devin Levin was a hard simper and ended up asking her out after disarming her.
-Devin helped her find a job and an apartment, and soon they start a relationship, marking the first time Deb had ever felt like her life was stable and happy.
-Devin eventually convinced Deb to reach out to her sister, who still had her old phone number (Deb was not expecting that when she agreed to give her a call). After yelling at her for having Nancy worried sick for years, she broke down crying so happy to know Deb was alive and well.
-Nancy did have to be the one to tell Deb that their mother died from suicide a year after she left.
-Deb, while still obviously upset, had kind of assumed that happened in the intervening years.
-Nancy stopped speaking to their father after their mom died, and Deb sure wasn't eager to start talking to him again. So at this point their family was just them and Nancy's husband and kids.
-Deb became a mom at 23 and married Devin at a courthouse while she was pregnant. Their honeymoon was a weekend getaway to Santa Barbara.
-Nancy flew out to California with her husband and now three kids in tow to stand witness for the wedding, and she flew back alone a few months later to meet her nephew and help Deb settle into being a new mom.
-Kevin was 2 when Devin died and Deb just kind of spiraled from there, starting to drink while she sat shiva for him.
-Deb moved back to New York to be closer to her sister again. Nancy and her family were living Yonkers at that point so that's were Deb found a place for her and Kevin.
-In addition to her grief and addiction, Deb's life was not made easier by the fact that she found herself having to work two jobs to keep a roof over their heads and having to leave Kevin with Nancy for most of the day.
-She showed up to her waitress job drunk and her boss scrambled to find someone to take take her home. A trucker named Harvey Hackett who was at the diner for a union meeting volunteered.
-Harvey came by the next day to check on her, and that's how their relationship started.
-Harvey signed her up for AA meetings and, once Deb was sober enough, started teaching her how to drive a truck.
-Deb may not have loved Harvey in the way she loved Devin, she never could've loved anyone like that again. But he was a good man who wanted to take care of her and Kevin, and at that point that was all she wanted.
-They got married when Kevin was 4 and as we know that ended up being the worst decision of Deb's life.
-Meanwhile, things in Kevin's life weren't all that great, even before Harvey started to fear him.
-Nancy's kids (Amanda, who was 7 years older than Kevin, Mikey who was 5 years older, and Josh who was 2 years older) did not adjust well to an aunt they only met once and her kid all of a sudden coming back into their lives, and in addition to that their mom was now practically raising their cousin alongside them.
-It certainly didn't help that Nancy almost immediately started including Kevin whenever she called her kids her munchkins, and even called him Kevala the way she called them Amala, Mikala, and Joshala.
-So already they were inclined to ostracize Kevin, and that only got worse once his powers started developing and regularly short circuiting their electronics.
-Things came to a head when Kevin one day followed them to their treehouse and Amanda pretended she was going to push him out, scaring him enough that he unintentionally shocked her and left a third degree burn.
-Nancy and Deb, after a long talk with a lot yelling and crying and cheesecake, decided it would be safest for Kevin if Deb found other babysitters, which she could now afford with her and Harvey being unionized truckers.
-Nancy was absolutely heartbroken about this and cried on her last day watching him. Amanda, still mad about her burn, convinced Kevin that Nancy was crying because she thought Kevin was a freak just as much as the kids did.
-Until he ran away, Kevin ended up having a long, long list of babysitters who were all scared off by his powers at one point or another.
-Eventually Harvey and Deb started working their schedules so that at least one would be home all the time, meaning they started to see each other much less.
-While Deb and Nancy understood that Kevin's power outbursts were something he couldn't control and completely tied to his emotional state, Harvey did not.
-It didn't help that Harvey and Deb had very different parenting styles in general, with Harvey believing Deb was too permissive and Deb believing Harvey's approach was "totalitarian dogshit"
-So whenever Deb was home Kevin, while still struggling, was a lot more happy and behaved than when Harvey was the one who was home.
-A lot of Kevin's acting out was him being a kid who's stepfather feared him and him obviously not having the tools to deal with that since he was like 7.
-The rare time Deb and Harvey had together was often spent fighting about parenting, and Kevin just came to hate Harvey's presence in general, especially with Amanda's words still in the back of his head after all these years.
-On that fateful day when Kevin accidentally destroyed the house, Harvey just completely lost it.
-He said Kevin's mother suffered so much because of him, because of the pressure of having a freak son.
-This, combined with his experience with Amanda, is what convinced Kevin that his mother was going to reject him.
-After Kevin ran away, Deb and Nancy's family searched everywhere for him. Now faced with the prospect of never seeing him again, the now teenaged Amanda, Mikey, and Josh were certainly feeling a lot of guilt for how they treated him as kids and how much they tried to ignore what they did as they got older.
-Harvey and Deb's divorce was very messy, to put it mildely
-Harvey, a smart man, moved to the other side of the country just to avoid Nancy and Ira, whom he now feared even more than Deb. With Deb, he had hurt her baby. With Nancy, he had hurt her baby AND her baby sister.
-Once Kevin reunited with Deb, he reunited with Nancy. He still has no contact with his cousins though.
-Why Harvey was chosen to be the one to talk Ultimate Kevin down instead of Deb or Nancy is a mystery only God knows.

Word Count: 2052
Pairings: Laila x Harry
Enjoy!
Ever since they saw Gemma he had been quiet, Laila wondered if maybe he wasn't over her? Or was it because he felt awkward he had called her his girlfriend? He had even turned her down to take a shower with him. He wanders into the kitchen where she's cooking, she too lost in thought to notice him come in.
"Laila?" He made her jump, "Sorry I was away with the fairies" she weakly smiles at him "Nice shower?" She tries to sound neutral "Yeah, thanks. Do you need any help in here?" Talking to him feels awkward it has never felt awkward not even when they were first dating she has to ask.
"Harry, what's wrong?" He's shocked she had pick up on his mood "Nothing," he shook his head, "You've been off since we saw Gem? So many things are going around in my head right now"
"Like what?" He asks "Like are you being off because you still have feelings for her?" He's shocked, he grasps her shoulder "No! No, I don't those feelings are dead and buried a long time ago! I love you!"
"Then why are you being so weird?" He sighs "Laila, I want to tell you I do.." she rolls her eyes "But you can't...Harry if you can't tell me what's wrong or why you're being so off I don't think we should meet each others parents...I'm sorry I can't sit there and pretend everything is OK when it's clearly not!"
He knows this is a big step in their relationship "I'm worried if I do I'll lose you," she let out a soft laugh "If what I told you about Josh didn't scare you away, then nothing will scare me away. I'm like chewing gum in your hair annoying and you can't get it out!" He chuckles "The thing is I'm not even a hundred percent myself"
"Is it because you called me your girlfriend? Do you wishing you could take it back?" He had forgotten about that, she's smirking at him "I don't want to take it back" he smiles at her "But you haven't asked me!" She laughs.
"Maybe I should tell you what's been bothering me before I ask you....Gemma and I split a little over a year and a half, after I found out she had been cheating on me with one of my clients. Today was the first time I saw her since we split up, when I asked her about the kid I did the calculations. Laila, I could have a son"
Laila is a bit thrown, but then she remembers what her brother Nate went through. He turns away from her "Harry?" She reaches for his arm, turning him towards her. This is the part where she ends things...or so he thought!
"Harry, will you be my boyfriend?" This was the last thing he thought she'd ask considering what he had just told her. He looks at her confused expect her to laugh, saying she was joking, but she doesn't "What?" He asks not quite believing he heard her.
"Harry Taylor, will you be my boyfriend?" She asks again "But..I just...Laila.." she cuts him off "Harry stop! Answer the question!" He can't believe he can be this lucky "I would love nothing more! This isn't a joke is it?"
She laughs, "Of course not! You told me what was bothering and whether you have a son or not I love you and having a child isn't going to change those feelings. Plus, how can I get angry over something you clearly knew nothing about! I understand my brother Nathan went through the same kinda thing he had a baby at 16 with his then girlfriend, she moved away and never told him. She was a bit of a psycho he didn't find out until she was 2 years old. We will do this together!"
His arms wrap around her as his lips capture hers, he pulls away just a little "You know you are amazing right!" She laughs "You're only just realising this! Why did I get myself a boyfriend that is so slow on the uptake" she jokes. He laughs, "Harry all I know you can't change the past, but you can improve the future. All we can do now is find out the truth and go from there"
He really can't believe this girl..Others would have run a mile or thrown a paddy, but she didn't? He guessed that's the difference between dating a woman rather than a girl. He picks her up, throwing her over his shoulder "Harry!! The dinner!!" She squealed, he turned back to the hob turning off the heated ring before making his way to her bedroom, slapping her cheek as she playfully protests.
Buzzzzz, buzzzzzzzz, buzzzzzzzzzzzz!
"HARRY!" Laila giggles as he tries to pull her back to bed while she is redressing and making a run for the door. Her parents are early they always were no matter where they went. "Hello?" She picks up the intercom "I'll buzz you up," she says as she's pulling on her underwear. Her skirt gets tucked into her lacy underwear revealing her ass cheek which has an teeth mark impression.
He smirks as he untucks her skirt he gently taps her cheek, She smirks at him as she opens the front door of the flat while smoothing over her hair. Liz walks through the door and Terry is close behind her "Mum, Dad! Hi!" Liz pulls her in for a hug before letting go "Harry, nice to see you again!" he shook her hand "Thanks, nice to see you again and you Terry"
"Like wise!" Terry nods at him, Laila secretly laughs inside, Terry was exactly the same with Josh. "Come in, would you like a drink?" Both her parents nod, Harry helps her. They take a seat at the table, "Harry, you're a personal trainer right?" Terry asks.
"Yeah, I am" Terry smiles "So, any tips on how to get rid of this beer gut?"
"I get book you in for some sessions with me...only if you want to?" Under the table, he grips Laila's hand he's nervous, his hands are sweaty. She runs her thumb over his knuckles which instantly calms him down.
"How much are these sessions?" Terry seems interested. "Erm..normally £65 a session, but I'm sure I can sort out a discount"
"Don't you think I can afford the going rate?" Terry hisses making Harry stumble on his words. When Harry isn't looking Terry winks at his daughter letting her know he's joking.
"Erm...no...I didn't mean to insult you..sorry I...think"
Terry chuckles "I'm just messing with ya! Look I'm not one of those dad's who's hard on their kids partners. I can see you make her happy and with what she's gone through in the past I'm glad she's found someone to make her sparkle again! But I will say one thing....I'm nice until you mess her about that's when you need to run!"
A bell rings from the kitchen telling Laila the dinner is ready, Harry automatically gets up to help her. "He's trained" Liz laughs, Laila tuts at her mum.
In the kitchen, Harry lets out a breath "Your dad had me then!" She laughs, "He's like that with everyone. He's friends with anyone until they cross him!"
"What will he think if he knew the truth about Gemma?" He looks worried.
"He'll be fine, if anything he'll feel sorry for you! Like I said my brother Nate didn't know he had a kid until Zeppy was nearly 2 years old! Now stop fretting until we know for sure and help me take these out"
She hands him a couple of plates.
After dinner Liz helps Harry take out the plates, leaving Laila and Terry at the table, "He seems like a nice guy, sweetie!" She's relieved he approves "He is!" Terry can see right through his daughter even when she's trying to hide it "I sense a but?"
She can't lie to her dad, he will know she's lying straight away. She looks round to the kitchen door where she can hear them loading the dishwasher.
"Laila, what is it?"
"You can't tell mum! He thinks he might be a dad"
Terry immediately looks to his daughters tummy "Not with me! We bumped into his ex today. She had a little boy with her and Harry did the sums he could be his son. I'm fine with it, but am I ready to be step mum to a kid who's if he is the dad I've been dating for only 2 months?"
Terry sighs, "Laila, if I was having this, talk with your brothers, I would tell them to run a mile, but that's only because they aren't mature enough to bring up another person's child. But you, well you have a good head on your shoulders, you love him, right?" She nods "Well, I think you will surprise yourself how well you take to it. Plus nothing set in stone yet. So, don't throw away something good for something that might be!"
"Who's ready for dessert?" Harry calls out as he comes into the dining room with his homemade cheesecake.
Terry winks at his daughter, she knows he's right...he always is.
"So how long have you two been dating?" Liz asks the pair.
"Well, he stalked me at work, then stole a business card after the stag weekend"
"Determination! That's what I like to see!" Terry jokes.
"See told you it wasn't stalking!" Harry bumps his shoulder with hers, she rolled her eyes at him.
"Terry stalked me! I had bumped into him at the local corner shop where we lived, I was in my school uniform 16 at the time, he was 18. We got talking then the following day he was outside my school ready to walk me home. Unbeknown to him I only lived 2 streets!" Liz laughs.
"Hey, they say chivalry is dead now a days. So, count yourself lucky" Terry jokes.
"Not completely dead" Laila winks at Harry, who blushes "This one wouldn't let me get the tube alone...twice!"
Liz coos from across the table "I've told you about that too! So, thanks Harry!" Terry tuts at his daughter.
Harry smirks at her "We'll have to have everyone round for dinner so you can officially meet the rest of the family!" Liz saying excited.
"Yes, her 3 older brothers" Harry smiles awkwardly.
"I'll have a word with them, so they lay off you," Terry winks, Harry had his full approval "Do you any siblings?"
Harry nods "3 older brothers and a younger sister. Laila has already met one brother and my sister"
She laughs remembering Arthur had came to the stag weekend and that night had met Izzy "Ah yes! Izzy! I thought you were on another date!" She hadn't told him this.
He seemed shocked "Sorry to break it to you darling, I'm a one woman man. Even when we aren't official" She rolls her eyes at him.
"Are you two official yet?" Liz asks, Laila nods "This afternoon actually mum!" Liz claps over excited.
"Yes, your daughter is a 21st century woman she asked me!"
"She always did know what she wants and how to get it!" Terry laughs.
"Well, I did say I love you first! Bit of a theme there" she winks.
Terry chuckles "She knows her own mind!"
Later they are in bed "Do you think your parents liked me?"
"I think you won them over straight away, they can see how happy you make me and how much I love you so they approve"
He pulls her on top of him "I hope they saw how much I love you too" he smiles.
"I think they did! Harry, are you going to speak to Gemma?"
"I was thinking about speaking to her tomorrow, the sooner I know the truth the better"He pulls her lips to his.
~*~*~*~
The next morning
He rang the door bell, his heart was in his throat, he's 50/50.
One side he kinda hopes he is his son, but on the other he hopes he's not.
The door opens, she's surprised "Harry, what...." he cuts her off "Is he mine?!"

Survey #467
“oh, mary, mary, ain’t this fun?  /  mary, mary, i’ve got a gun”
If the last person you kissed asked you to marry them, what would you do? Pray to god it wasn't in public and tell him it's waaaay too soon for that one. Does your favorite uncle have any children? Yeah, a son and daughter. Name all the members (first, middle and last names) from your favorite band. Ha, it's funny how once upon a time, I could do this. All I've got now is John Michael Osbourne. Have you ever heard a young child swear? Maybe? Have you ever seen someone get a piercing/tattoo?: Yes to both. Has a taste of something ever made you smile? Boy meet me at The Cheesecake Factory and see what my face does lmaooo As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a paleontologist sooo badly. I wanted to discover new dinosaurs, put a shitload of work into unearthing fossils and being so proud to see the final results... Even now as an adult, if I could handle the heat, traveling, and hardcore school, I'd still love to do that. Would you cuss the person you hate the most out to their face? No. My hatred for her is unjustified and I'd rather just not say anything to her. Have you ever spent more than two weeks in a wheelchair? No. Where do you see your closest friend in ten years? As one of the strongest people around. I imagine her with a job in medical coding, while also pursuing the hobbies of ball python breeding and writing. I'm sure she'll have loads of pets to love, too! Do you like Florence + The Machine? I've never listened to them. Did you watch the presidential debates? No. Do you ever watch Dr. Phil? No. Are you typically unattracted to people outside of your race? No; I can be attracted to any race. Have you ever ridden any animal other than a horse? No. Do you brush your hair when it’s wet? Yes. Do you eat the crusts of your bread? Yeah, I always have. Have you ever flown a kite? Yeah! At my childhood home, there was a tobacco field directly across the street, and when they weren't in season so the field was flat, Dad would help us with getting kites set up and in the air. Those are good memories. How are you for money? I don't make any money. Mom is struggling. Do you think you are more intelligent than the average person? Ha, no. Do you ever think about why we are here? Does it matter? We're here, so make the most of it. Do you like cherries? I fucking hate cherries. Name a celebrity that you admire that nobody would expect you to: Jeffree Star, probs. Can you use a yoyo? Not well, but yeah. Do you think Jenna Marbles’ videos are funny? I've actually never watched her. Do you like folk music? NOOOOOOOOO Ever had a crush on somebody of the same sex? Yes. Do you know any lesbians? Yep. Favourite member of your favourite band: I'm unfamiliar with all but Ozzy himself. And Ozzy is rad. Who’s your favourite female rapper? I don't have one. When you were younger, were you ever in a relationship with someone you now realize was way too old for you? No. Have you ever had a seizure? No. I sometimes have very, very quick spasms when I'm falling asleep that feel like what I assume a seizure would, but they barely last a second. They seriously jerk me awake, though, and are very startling. What’s the oldest man-made object you own? I dunno. Is there anything you feel like you need a break from? Not really, no. What do you hate to hear people joke about? I will actually and remorselessly deck you in the jaw if you make a joke about rape. There are other things that are absolutely forbidden joking matters for me, too. What’s the largest animal you’ve seen in the wild? Hmmm... Nothing that big, really. Maybe a whitetail deer buck? Do any of your friends or family members have strange occupations? Not to my knowledge. Have you ever been in weather so severe that you feared for your safety? Oh yeah. We've had some savage thunderstorms. What political issues are the most important to you personally? LGBTQ+ rights and just equality in general, the pro-choice movement, environmental conservation, gun control, the abolishment of poverty and homelessness... There is honestly a lot. I could keep going. Do you know anyone who doesn’t know how to cook even just simple recipes? ... Me. :x Especially now that I'm in a relationship, I really want to make a greater effort to learn. I want to prove to him I give a damn about the success of our relationship and that I'm capable of being an adult that can take part in general adult responsibilities. ^What’s stopping them from learning this basic life skill? Laziness. Forgetfulness. The fear of getting burned. What small thing makes you automatically distrust someone? I can pick up on sketchy body language from a mile away. I'm too paranoid not to. Of all the states/provinces in your country, which one is your favorite? At least from photographs I've seen, Utah appears BEAUTIFUL. That whole region of the U.S. in general. Are there any obscure foods you’ve eaten that most people have never tried? That's very unlikely. I'm far from explorative with food. When you travel to other countries, do you always try the local cuisine? I've never been outside the U.S. I would probably do that, though. I'd really want to experience the culture as thoroughly as I could. What did you do for your 19th birthday? Hell if I remember. What’s the kindest thing a total stranger has done for you? I remember as a young kid, my parents, two sisters, and I were getting food at McDonald's, and whoever was in front of us paid for our meals. Such a sweet gesture for a larger family. Have you ever used a meal kit delivery service? No, but there actually is one that I can't recall the name of that I'd like to try when I cook myself, especially getting started learning, but yeah, subscription fees. You see a lot of YouTubers get sponsored by them, if that rings a bell. Do you have any psychological issues rooted in events from your childhood? Possibly my fear of men, with my dad having been an alcoholic that had a 50/50 chance of being very angry when drunk. How organized are the files on your computer? Pretty organized, I'd say. I put stuff into folders. Would you date someone with braces? Yes? Do you ever rehearse conversations before you have them? Only always. Do you get angry at yourself or at others more often? Myself, for sure. When taking a cab, do you talk to the driver? I've never even taken a cab. Who or what greets you at the door every time you come home? Nobody, really. My cat is occasionally in the living room to see who's home, but not always because he's a lazy cat, ha ha. Do you ever chat about your favourite video games with your friends? Not really, no. I wish. Have you ever supported anyone’s Kickstarter? If so, what was it? No, bc I'm poor. Are you currently studying a language? If so, which one? No. Ever had a friend online for a long time without seeing a photo of them? Yeah. Do you carry pepper spray? No, but I want some 'cuz I'm paranoid as hell. Are you waiting on anything right now? No. Have you ever been described as shy? Is it true? Oh, always. It's absolutely true. Name something you’re a complete sucker for? Baby animals, to name one thing. Do you remember when you first went on the internet? Nope. What is one way someone could completely put you off on a first date? Arrogance/over-confidence. What about a way someone could make you like them more on a first date? Make me genuinely laugh a lot, to name one way. Are you in love right now? Not yet. I love him with our decade of history, but I need more experience as a couple before I've got the confidence to say that. Do you wanna get married anytime soon? It wouldn't be smart to. I want to be in a strong relationship for quite a few years before I want that. Have you ever kissed someone in a band? No. Has someone ever made you a Build-A-Bear? No but oh my fucking god I wish!!!!!! Did your mom or dad ever put soap in your mouth? No, but Mom would threaten to. What was the last fruit you ate? Well, I had strawberry yogurt earlier today. Who was the last person to make you laugh? Girt. He is very, very good at that. Have you ever dated someone with more piercings than you? No. Would you kiss the last person you kissed again? Hell yeah man. Is there one night of your life you wish had never happened? I wish it hadn't happened the way it did. Do you have a close relationship with your sibling(s)? No. What was the last thing that you shared? Some watermelon Sour Patch Kids with my mom. Do you think people talk behind your back? You couldn't get me to believe my mom doesn't at least sometimes to my sisters even if you tried your absolute damnedest. In real life do you laugh like ‘haha,’ 'hehe’ or something else? It depends on what I'm laughing at/at what intensity. Do you have any unusual skills? Nah. Who’s your favourite person? I don't have a sole favorite person. I love many people in different ways for varying reasons. Are there any chores you actually enjoy doing? No. When did you last have an "Oh, I get it now!" moment? Watching Attack on Titan yesterday w/ Girt. Have your parents ever suspected something untrue about you? My mom HAD to have suspected I was doing something FAR worse than innocent meerkat RP to have borderline fucking traumatized me invading my privacy and forcing shit out of me regarding what I was always doing on the computer so secretively. Like I get it, she was a concerned mother, but I was a fucking WRECK because I found it so embarrassing. It was insulting that she didn't trust her well-behaved daughter. What do you think about video games? They're great for both the creators and consumers. They're wonderful expressions of creativity, and so much fun to experience as a player, delving into a new world and getting engrossed in the story. I could go onnnn and onnnnn about what video games mean to me. I've gone my whole life as a loyal gamer. Are there any forms of Art you personally find pointless? I really, really don't get a lot of abstract art that's worth fucking thousands, BUT, I absolutely disagree that they are without purpose. The artist created what they did for SOME reason. As a distraction, a method of expressing emotion, to convey an idea... Are you tired right now? I have been SO ridiculously tired today. Like it's unreal. I've taken I wanna say three naps and I'm still sleepy. What’s something you do a lot? Drink something. I'm not talking about alcohol; just in general, I ALWAYS need some kind of drink by me, and I go through drinks pretty quickly. Are you currently on any other websites? Yeah, I'm watching YouTube. Are you good at using Photoshop? I'm decent, I guess. Have you ever been told you naturally tilt your head a certain way? Yes, actually, at least by my mom, and she's right. My head tends to tilt VERY slightly to the right, and I can tell by how easy it is to bend my head that way as opposed to left. I'll feel a biiiit more strain.

Private Time
I’ve been reading and writing (and living with) so much angst lately, I decided to indulge in some silly, sexy funtimes with a fandom I haven’t visited in a while.  Enjoy.
Klaine, 2k, A03.
Summary:  Living with his grad student roommates in quarantine, private time is hard to come by...
Blaine is generally very happy living in the somewhat rickety four-bedroom house he shares with three other grad students.  It’s not too far from school, it’s got a workable washer and dryer in the basement, and the kitchen was renovated sometime in the past twenty years so it’s perfectly adequate for making whatever quick meals he manages to scrounge together after class.
But boy, are the walls thin.
This hasn’t been a problem until recently, when COVID-19 struck.  School has gone online, but unlike the undergrads, Blaine and his roommates have a lease and all of them decided to endure the quarantine here in Somerville, Massachusetts rather than go home.  According to Kurt, Somerville may not be where he wants to end up, but it’s far better than the Midwest town he grew up in and he has no desire to weather the quarantine back in Lima.
Thanks to the quarantine, Blaine has learned this and many more facts about his flatmates  – and yes, they have all taken to calling it a flat, after an evening which started out with teasing Sam about how he likes to talk with a fake British accent turned into one of the most carefree nights Blaine has had in a long time.  Apparently all it took was a few bottles of cheap wine and a defrosted cheesecake from Star Market to loosen them all up.
“We’re proper mates, now,” Sam had announced, waving his arms and nearly knocking over a lamp in the process.  By the time they had all wandered off to bed, Blaine had learned that Kurt’s favorite singer was Lady Gaga, that Rachel had taken a year off from school to film a television pilot, and that Sam played the guitar rather well, as long as it was country music.
Blaine has liked Sam since they met playing intramural soccer in the fall.  So when Sam mentioned last month that they had a spare bedroom, Blaine quickly took him up on the offer.  Blaine’s previous apartment was lonely and smelled like something had died in the ceiling, so it was really a no brainer.
What had caught Blaine by wonderful, wonderful surprise, however, was that Kurt Hummel was one of Sam’s roommates.  Blaine had seen Kurt perform in a production of Macbeth back in October, and had been mesmerized by the man’s performance.  It hadn’t even occurred to him that Kurt was a regular grad student just like he was, not until Sam gave him the tour of the house and Kurt waved to him from the kitchen where he was gossiping with Rachel over skinny margaritas.
With just a smile and a nod and an agreement to take his turn putting out the trash, Blaine gained three roommates, including the guy he had been crushing on for months.  Not bad for a Wednesday.
Much to Blaine’s dismay, simply moving into the house didn’t result in any quality time with Kurt. Between school and performances Kurt was hardly ever home, and Blaine’s schedule studying history and music theory was hardly better.  Since the stay at home order was put in place, however, it’s a whole new world. Now the four of them can hardly get away from each other.
For the first two weeks of their enforced togetherness, everyone was on their best behavior, and the drama of it all gave them a shared sense of adventure.  Kurt sewed them all homemade masks, Blaine carefully organized grocery trips to minimize time in the stores, Sam tried to get them to adopt home fitness routines, and Rachel kept them apprised of the most interesting celebrity bits to watch on You Tube.
But they are entering into week three of the quarantine, and the novelty is wearing off.  For one thing, Rachel has been getting more and more demanding about household details (she is constantly editing the chore wheel and claiming someone else did it), and while Kurt generally has acted as peacemaker when confronted with Rachel’s whims, even he seems to be getting tired of it. Sam hasn’t done his laundry at all since they got locked in, and Blaine is running out of hair gel.  Kurt has taken to cleaning the fridge so often that Rachel accused him of stealing cleaning supplies and rubber gloves from health care workers.
They are all becoming short-tempered and irritable.  Blaine even catches himself snapping at Kurt, which is the last thing he wants to do. He’s worried that by the time the quarantine lifts, Kurt will never want to speak to him again, let alone date him.
Blaine has a few tried and true strategies for when he gets like this, but none of them are working. Sam insists on running with him every time he goes out, and his well intentioned chatter prevents Blaine from finding any escape.  He can’t let off steam by boxing, because his gym is closed.  And as for the things he really knows would do the trick, especially after an afternoon of watching Kurt do ballet stretches in yoga pants, well… the walls of their apartment are very, very thin.
Blaine knows this because Sam apparently feels no shame in indulging in his own solo activities. It’s easy to hear him, even from across the hall.  Given that Blaine’s bedroom shares a wall with Kurt’s, there’s no way Blaine’s going to risk Kurt hearing anything of the sort from Blaine’s room.
Towards the end of the third week, Rachel calls a roommate meeting.  Blaine has just finished an endless zoom call with his research supervisor, and he feels like his eyes are going to pop out of his head if he doesn’t get his contacts out soon.  But Rachel insists, so they all gather in the sitting room, Sam and Blaine on the lumpy brown couch, and Kurt sitting on the edge of an armchair, looking to Blaine like he could be posing in a fashion magazine.
“Thank you for coming,” Rachel begins, as if they had any real choice in the matter.  She launches into an overview of their past few roommate meetings, and brings up an excel spreadsheet on her computer, on which she has apparently made further edits to the chore wheel.
Blaine tries not to be distracted by the way the asymmetrical neckline of Kurt’s cashmere sweater drapes over his collarbone when he leans forward to look at Rachel’s chart.
“So I decided on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays,” Rachel says, looking around the room for approval.   Blaine realizes he has lost the plot completely, but luckily he’s not the only one.
“Wait, what?”  Sam asks.  Kurt has found a nail file somewhere and isn’t paying much attention either, but his mouth quirks up at little at Sam’s question, so he’s probably glad Sam is taking the blame for this one too.
Rachel lets out a long suffering sigh, and places an Amazon box on the table.  “As I said, I haven’t been able to use the practice rooms for weeks now, and my vocal production is suffering.  I need to be able to focus properly on allowing my voice to soar over my accompaniment at its expected volume, without having to censor myself.”
Sam still looks confused, and Rachel glares at him.  “I need to listen to loud music, and sing loudly, ok?  So I got these for all of us.”
Sam frowns.  “I don’t mind if you sing, Rach.”
Rachel’s hands clench at her sides.  “It’s not about you, it’s about me.”  Kurt coughs not indiscreetly into his hand, but Blaine doesn’t quite catch what he says. “I need you all to wear these, for an hour, three times a week.  I’ve clearly marked this as private time on our schedule, from 11 to midnight, Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.”
 “But what if-“
“Sam, let it go,” Kurt says. “We’re all missing <I>private time</I> these days.”  Kurt stands up and smooths his hands down his skin tight jeans.  “It’s fine with me, Rachel.”
Blaine stands up too, and peers into the box, then takes out a set of headphones.  They are high end noise-cancelling models, clearly expensive, and probably quite effective.  “These are great, Rachel.  Thanks. But you didn’t have to do this. I’m sure we could have worked something out so you could practice.”
Rachel glares at him now too, and tosses her hair over her shoulder.  “I <i>have</i> worked it out.
Private time commences at eleven o’clock on each designated night.  I expect you all to go to your rooms, and wear the headsets.  It’s the least we can do to help preserve our collective mental health during this trying time.  Do I have your agreement?”
They all agree, and Rachel smirks, satisfied.  Blaine chalks it up to roommate harmony and sets about seeing what he can make for dinner out of tortillas, one cucumber, and three apples (answer:  nothing,  they eat frozen pizza).
Later that evening, he and Sam are on the couch trying to find something to watch on Netflix. Suddenly Sam leans over and slaps Blaine on the shoulder.
“Ow, Sam, what was that for?”
“I know why Rachel got the headphones for us,” Sam announces, grinning crazily,  “It’s so she can have a wank!”
Blaine attributes Sam’s ongoing affinity for British slang to the amount of Sherlock fanfic he’s been reading lately, but now really isn’t the time to get into it.
He reflexively starts to deny it, but then he realizes with a flush of embarrassment that Sam is probably right.  Sam watches his face and his grin gets even bigger.
“She’s kind of a genius, isn’t she?”  Sam grabs a set of headphones and bounds away up the stairs.
“Sam,” Blaine calls out, wanting to remind him that it’s Monday, and therefore no private time is scheduled.  Not that it’s stopped Sam before.
The next night Rachel reminds them all after dinner that private time will begin precisely at eleven o’clock.  After a group viewing of the first episode of Deadwater Fell (during which Blaine divided his attention between watching David Tennant, watching Kurt, and watching Kurt watch David Tennant), Rachel checks the time on her phone and orders them all upstairs.  At five minutes to eleven, she screams “put your headphones on,” and slams the door to her bedroom.
Blaine thinks this is all fairly ridiculous, but he puts on the headphones anyway, and settles on his bed with his laptop.  He surfs around for a while, finding clips of some noteworthy Shakespeare productions (okay, fine, it’s Benedict Cumberbatch playing Hamlet), but then his mind starts to wander. Being cooped up with his roommates has been… constraining… for him too, and maybe he should go ahead and take advantage of the private time Rachel has arranged for them.
Blaine makes himself more comfortable and slides a hand down his body, wondering if his roommates are doing the same.  Wondering, especially, if Kurt is doing the same.  He unzips his fly and takes himself in hand, letting out a long sigh at the sensation – and then freezing when he hears himself.  Blaine quickly realizes that as he got comfortable on the bed, the headphones had slipped off his ears.
And if he can hear himself, what if Kurt can hear him too?
Any interest in solo activities leaves him in a flash, and Blaine quickly zips himself up and plants his feet on the floor.  He makes sure the headphones are properly situated on his ears, and spends the remaining twenty minutes of private time organizing his sock drawer.
The next morning his roommates seem downright cheery, and Blaine starts to regret his nerves.  It would have been nice to get a little relief from the stress of quarantine, even at the risk of potential embarrassment. Maybe he just needs to be quieter, next time.
Thursday night Blaine fluffs his pillows and arranges himself on the bed face down, so that any noise he makes will be muffled.  This turns out to be a brilliant idea, and he has quite a good time imagining that Kurt is underneath him, writhing and squirming and rutting against him, all long lines and warm skin.  It’s not a pillow stifling his cries, it’s Kurt’s wet mouth…
When Blaine finally comes to, he feels a little guilty, but he’s more relaxed than he’s been in weeks. Maybe he’ll get through this quarantine after all.

New Year’s Meme
this survey has been a tradition among my friend group for YEARS, but i haven’t filled it out since 2015 apparently. i’m not entirely sure why except 2016 was the year a lot of stuff changed for me, namely in that i finally got out of school in some form and started a new job, but i also had a few health problems that kept plaguing me (thyroid medicine being off, vitamin d) and my anxiety was all over the place. so here we go i’m doing it again and feel free to do it too if you want!!
1. What did you do in 2020 that you’d never done before? tried on wedding dresses. taught virtually. dealt (poorly) with drunk teenagers. performed in a pep rally. wore face masks all the time. i’m going to lump in living with someone. jon moved in october 2019, but i don’t think i did this quiz last year so. taught ap.
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions and will you make more for next year? i don’t really like resolutions. they put too much pressure on me and i am a fragile person when it comes to setting expectations and living up to them. i did want to try to read more this year, and i maintained that until the pandemic, and then just kind of gave up requiring myself to do anything but live.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? i don’t think so. a coworker did.
4. Did anyone close to you die? jon’s cousin committed suicide in march or april. the circumstances were pretty upsetting. um. andy died in february, very suddenly. andy was my high school boyfriend for four years with whom i had a very... he scarred me in a lot of ways when it comes to sex and consent. it’s taken me a long time to unpack all of that. and i struggle with how much any of that was his fault or just bc he was a stupid kid too. our mutual friends had nothing but nice things to say about him on fb. anyway. he would guilt me into saying he’d kill himself if we broke up, and jon’s cousin killed himself over his girlfriend. so that was a complex part of the year.
5. What countries did you visit? none. literally the week before the quarantine, we went to asheville to visit jon’s cousin.
6. What would you like to have in 2021 that you lacked in 2020? maybe a different job? or at least some peace at doing mine.
7. What date from 2020 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? march 13 we cancelled classes and had a technology training day; the 15th we had another one, and then we were virtual the rest of the term. it was such a sudden shift and while i so loved working from home tbh, it was such a relief after a supremely shitty january/february work-wise, i still had a lot of keyed-up, stressful days centered around transitioning to being the senior upper school spanish teacher. i hate it!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? writing 50k in the month of november. i have literally never done that before and actively reject nano as being typically unhealthy for how my mind works, so it was nice to do it entirely by accident.
9. What was your biggest failure? mishandling the drunken teenagers on that field trip in january.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? i sit crosslegged in my virtual teaching chair and i did it so much that my ankle hurt for the entire summer.
11. What was the best thing you bought? we put a deposit on our elopement in ireland. jon’s wedding ring. (i didn’t buy my wedding dress.)
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? my best friend at work who keeps me sane and is represented by benny in my au, which other than the fact that he is not my sidepiece, is perfect he is crucial to my survival at work and i love him so much. (also he is gay and the french teacher so the benny parallels just keep coming). everyone who tore down a statue in virginia (and other places, but especially monument avenue). everyone putting their lives on the line during this pandemic.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? guess! but aside from all the obvious, i found out a friend of mine at work voted for trump. my work bff and i had been trying for years to sway his politics, but that had us both deciding to give up on him.
14. Where did most of your money go?  food, ALCOHOL. god., our savings account. i did a pretty excellent job saving this year, though a good deal of that is because jon moved in and makes more money than me, and also we split all the bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? my wedding dress but strangely only when i went to try it on after it came in bc after the purchase i was so sure i’d made every mistake possible. my wedding band. wellbutrin changing my whole life. and, last but certainly not least, the gay angel and the bi(lingual) hunter. i wouldn’t have survived nov-dec in school without that distraction. the election.
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2020? the entirety of taylor swift’s oeuvre this year, maybe specifically “this is me trying”
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:  i. Happier or sadder? happier, i suppose, perhaps contrary to what should be the case, but wellbutrin is a hell of a drug. ii. Older or wiser? wiser. ii. Richer or poorer? richer.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? reading. cleaning. exercising.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? stressing. chaperoning.
20. How will you be spending Christmas? so, an update; last year was the first year i didn’t go to my mom’s for christmas. i was supposed to see her for thanksgiving last year, but she basically told us not to come bc she wasn’t feeling up to it (cool!), and we went to jon’s for christmas and my mom’s for new year’s.
this year, obviously we couldn’t go to my mom’s. instead, we rented a little cabin by the lake. it was perfect; it was really really nice inside, the beds were SO SOFT, the pillows were the best things i have ever laid my head on, like i took off the pillowcases to try to find the brand. we had a little tiny christmas tree with tiny ornaments from walmart that we decorated. the 23rd, we went and picked up our wedding bands. we slept two nights in the (cold) back bedroom so i could wake up and look out at the lake. it snowed for christmas. :)
we opened presents on christmas eve, per jon’s family’s tradition. on christmas eve, we also went to his family farm and sat outside and hung out a little. every year his family does like a secret santa sort of thing and i got my first present in that exchange, which is notable bc jon and i are not yet officially married. i got a remote control car -- jon’s idea bc i couldn’t think of anything, and he was so delighted to hear that i loved playing with rc cars when we went to the beach as a kid.
christmas morning we facetimed my parents and opened some presents together. then jon and i marathoned mandalorian (after spending the previous few days watching several die hard movies), and then we watched wonder woman 1984 which was a bad movie.
21. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve? ok LAST year for new year’s, we were in a hotel room, so that was nice, bc it meant minimal stress with my parents. i had always wanted to go to this restaurant near us that has a special new year’s menu, so we did that. the night before or after i think we went to cheesecake factory, which was also amazing.
this year currently i’m tumbling and he’s playing pokemon, and in a bit we’ll try to time it so we finish schitt’s creek in time for the new year.
22. Did you fall in love in 2020? i re-fell in love with supernatural so that was nice.
23. How many one-night stands? 0. i submit we should randomly change question 23 each year to something more relevant to any of our life experiences.
24. What was your favorite TV program? what did i even watch this year. schitt’s creek. mandalorian. i mean obviously we know supernatural. the circle. are you the one (the queer season). pose. unsolved mysteries. we’re here! perry mason. watchmen. oh maybe that mcdonald’s monopoly fraud documentary. avenue 5. i’ll be gone in the dark. of those i think my favorite maybe is... pose or we’re here.
OKAY UM. on my 2014 version of this there were a bunch of questions about tv shows that i’m putting back in if only for the memories:
25. Which TV shows did you start watching in 2020? the haunting of bly manor, which we still need to finish. derry girls.
26. Which TV shows did you let go of in 2020? HERE’S WHY I WANTED TO RESURRECT THESE. here was my answer in 2015: “supernatural. goodbye, my sweet prince.” CAN YOU EVEN FUCKING BELIEVE
27. Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn’t in 2020? Why? so far, queen’s gambit and that one on hulu with catherine the great. EVENTUALLY. 28. Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2020? fleabag. queen’s gambit. 29. Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2020 unless things significantly improve? idk i drop things pretty regularly if they don’t entertain me 30. Which TV show impressed you least in 2020? GUYS HERE’S MY ORIGINAL 2015 ANSWER: “supernatural. :(”

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: usually i have a hard time coming up with anything for this and i default to looking at my most played songs of the year. my most played song of the year received each and every one of its plays within the month of november and you can guess why. anyway see if this works
I had all and then most of you Some and now none of you Take me back to the night we met I don't know what I'm supposed to do Haunted by the ghost of you Take me back to the night we met - the night we met, lord huron

What do you do for work? I work at a public relations agency, so I handle servicing for a good number of clients across different industries. PR is basically like the extroverted sibling of journalism; and since I turned out to not enjoy journ, I gave PR a try halfway through my time in college and ended up liking it more.
What would you ideally like to do for work? I actually really enjoy what I do, like getting to work directly with big local and even international brands. I’m glad I made the decision to make the career shift because I can’t imagine how miserable I would be in a newsroom.
What are you doing in order to achieve this? I’m already where I want to be, at least for now. I don’t see it changing any time soon because I’m nowhere near tired of the work yet.
What is the meaning of your life? What is it that you really live for? Erm I don’t really try to define it or have an answer to this right away because I feel like it puts a lot of unwanted pressure on me, by me. As long as I’m satisfied in the present, I shouldn’t be worrying for whom or what my life is ultimately supposed to be.
Have you ever REALLY thought what it means to have children? Yup. Having kids would be the perfect life, but realistically speaking I am not at all ready to start that particular chapter. I don’t make enough money to be able to build a family, and I’ve never even tried changing a diaper yet...then you have to think about weekly formulas, what school to enroll them in, building a nursery...it’s all very hectic and stressful and it’s definitely not a priority as of the moment.
Are you planning to have children anyway? It would be nice, but I still don’t know if it’s in my future.
What is the most awful thing about the world today? I doooooooooon’t understand racism. It’s those videos of white people being caught on tape harassing POCs without a care in the world that get to me the most. It’s horrifying and it’s made me have close to zero plans to travel to the places where the videos usually come from. It’s happened too many times and too many clips have gone viral, that I can’t help but think it would happen to me and my family as well. What do you think is the worst being on the planet? Abusive and/or neglectful parents.
Have you ever been arrested? If so, what for? Nopes.
Have you ever been in court? If so, in which role? Definitely not.
Which do you think is a more valuable being, a human or an animal? I don’t think it’s fair to compare. A life is a life.
What, in your opinion, will cause the end of the world? I’m gonna let science answer this and refer to whatever predictions they have for the future based on their calculations.
What does your mother do for work? She works in an international hotel chain as an executive secretary, but work is actually kind of slippery for her at the moment because of Covid. There are only certain days in the week where she’s called in to report for work, and there is a chance those requests will stop coming in at a certain point.
^If she's a homemaker, any specific reason for this? She’s not anymore but she did enjoy a brief period of being a homemaker after resigning from her previous workplace back in likeeeee 2013 I’d say? which according to her had increasingly turned into a toxic environment after 20+ years of working there.
What about your father? What does he do? He is an executive sous chef. Cruise ship industry, so his situation is also actually quite bleak. Fortunately the job security with his company is a lot stronger and more guaranteed.
How do you like your coffee? I like it sweet and for its color to be light brown.
If you're of age, what's your favorite alcoholic drink? Tequila shots if we’re going hard. Long Island Iced Tea or Zombie if I’m looking to have a chill session with friends. Red Horse is fine as well, whatever. I hate beer with a passion but I’d drink it if everyone in the table is having a bottle.
If you're under-aged, what is your favorite soft drink? Bold of you to assume all minors like soda hahaha. I don’t, though.
Do you smoke? Yeah, just super seldom though because I don’t want to form a habit. I had the opportunity to last Friday but voluntarily skipped out on it, but that was also because I already had a vape pen on me.
^If so, did you start when you were 18 or were you younger? My first cigarette was when I was 21. Start of 2020.
Did your parents approve of your smoking/alcohol use before you turned 18? They wouldn’t have approved of it at all. And I wouldn’t have let myself either.
Do you have siblings? If not, skip the next few questions. Yeup.
Are you eldest, in the middle or youngest? I’m the eldest of two siblings.
How big an age gap is between you and your siblings? With my sister, 2 years. With my brother, 5 years.
Do/did your siblings cause trouble? Not at all, actually. We were all well-behaved, aka the three of us were always too shy to do anything bad or mischevious. I guess the biggest issues with each of us were - I was very messy with my stuff and ignored all my homework; Nina was a crybaby and would get into tears over literally any inconvenience; and my brother was a violent crybaby, which means he is Nina but always ready to punch you in the face, kick you in the neck or stomach, scream into your ear, etc.
If your siblings are old enough, what do they do for work? My sister is taking up digital filmmaking in an art school; my brother is only in his junior year of high school.
Have you ever been jealous of your siblings? I’m not jealous of her, but Nina is amazing at art and drawing and painting and all that stuff and I always wish I shared even like 1/98th of her skills, hahah.
Do you still live with your parent/s or do you live alone/with a partner? I live with my family, yeah. I’m nowhere near ready to start being on my own.
What do you think about growing up? Like what Paramore said (heheh), has to happen sometimes.
What about having responsibilities? I don’t really think anything of them? They’re kind of expected.
Do you know how to cook? Nope.
^If so, what's your favorite thing to cook? I don’t know how to make anything yet, but some dishes I would love to be able to master are risotto and paella. I’d also love to inherit my grandma’s kare-kare recipe but I’m already 300% sure from this early that I’ll never be able to make it as good as she does.
What about baking? I also can’t bake but some stuff I’d want to learn how to make are cupcakes, macarons, cheesecake, and a chocolate chip cookie recipe so good that my kids would literally bring their friends over to our house just to make them try it.
Do you ever drink tea? Iced tea for the most part. If I do ever drink the traditional hot tea, it’s usually because it’s served either at a hotel I’m staying at, or at an Asian restaurant.
Have you ever followed any of these fad diets that go around? I don’t follow a diet. I’m usually open to trying out foods that are packaged to fall under a certain diet, though – paleo, keto, etc. - just to experience how much different it could possibly taste from the food I typically have.
What do you usually order at your favorite restaurant? I usually get rosu, a type of tonkatsu cut that has a lining of fat on its side. My favorite restaurant then provides unlimited rice, miso soup, and cabbage with my order.
Do you prefer a proper restaurant to a fast food place? Not necessarily. I love a lot of either.
What's your dream vehicle? A Mini Countryman.
What about your dream house? I don’t have an exact image of it yet, but I always said that my dream house, wherever and whatever it might be, must have a room for all the wrestling memorabilia I plan to collect in the future. It’ll be like a ~mancave~  as I also plan to have a couch and a big TV in it so I can watch documentaries and pay-per-views there.
What is the biggest dream of your life? Right now, I would say the ‘biggest’ - since I’ve established it since I was a kid - is to go to the 50th installment of Wrestlemania, which is like the Superbowl of wrestling. This year it’ll be the 37th, so I have 13 years left to plan the dream out and save up and stuff.
If you could travel to another country right now, where would you go? Morocco.
What is a country you'd never ever visit? There isn’t a country I wouldn’t want to visit at least once. I’d probably avoid the ones that have dangerous political situations or are literally at war at the moment, but it doesn’t mean I don’t ever want to step foot in them.
Are you good at taking care of your finances? I’m getting there! I was able to have a good amount of savings this month :) My finances were shit for the first two months of my job because there was immediately soooooooo much to pay for, but I’m glad everything is on track now.
Have you ever had any trouble paying your bills? Well no, because I don’t pay my own yet. I do hand a portion of my allowance to my parents every payday so that I can help out with the family bills, though.
What about your rent? We don’t have rent.
What do you think is the best thing about being an adult? The freedom that comes with it is very empowering. I don’t technically have to ask permission to go out with friends anymore, or be scared of a curfew (but my mom still imposes one, LOL. It’ll mellow it within time though, I’m sure); I make my own money and can spend it however way I want while the rest I can save; I can take a drive or book an entire trip altogether as long as I can afford it...it’s letting me get to know myself even more, in a way that college and my teenage years weren’t able to do.
What about the worst? Being expected to have my shit together when I’m very clueless still about so many things in life. I make fuckups at work at least once a week and I always feel like I’m going to get fired with every mistake, lol.
Is there a person in your life, who wastes their life somehow? Hmm, I don’t think so. I have an uncle who had seemed to be headed nowhere before, but I think he’s slowly getting back on track. I think. At least I don’t hear anything about him anymore.
^If so, how are they wasting their life? Never had a stable job, was a neglectful husband and father (I think he still is), was never able to secure a house and even a car for his family, and deals with his problems by drinking...and worse, drunk-driving, sometimes. It’s an embarrassment and I don’t care if my grandma tells me off for giving him the cold shoulder every family gathering. I’m not gonna get close to someone who negatively affects my mood and my energy.
What is something you need to do, but you keep postponing it? Getting a new pair of glasses. Booking an appointment is a Newly-Unlocked Adult Thing that I’ve never done yet, so I’m nervous and I keep putting it off, hahaha.
Do you think life should just hand things to you? Not at all.
Or should you earn the things you want and need with hard work? Yeah, there you go.
Would you rather live off government benefits or earn your own money? Earn on my own, as much as possible. But some balance would be nice as well so that I can start feeling as if the government is actually helping and serving me.
When you take a survey, do you skip questions? Typically, no. But some of the older ones I’ve seen made by, like, 15 year olds of the time will have nonsense, downright immature, or lowkey racist/homophobic questions that I will have no problem deleting altogether as I think no one here would have any interest in answering them either.
Why, do you think, people write lyrics as the title for a survey? To be creative and catchy, I guess. And it works - I do tend to click on surveys that use lyrics.
If you have a Facebook, what do you use it for? Look for things to share, mainly. I’m fully back on it now after going a way for a bit to do some healing on my own.
If you have a Twitter, what do you use it for? As a space to let out literally all my thoughts and brianfarts. No one cares on Twitter, so it’s the perfect space to make a mess and be a mess.
If you have a Tumblr, what do you use it for? I used to have a wrestling-themed Tumblr (and before that, many more other themed Tumblrs), but when my interest died down I soon switched to using Tumblr for my surveys and being more lowkey altogether on here.
If you have an iPhone, why? I find it easier to use, and I like the interface more. The camera’s features are also more to my liking.
If you have an iPad, why? We have a really old model of it, and we bought that because iPads were all the rage at the time. It had been the newest concept from Apple and most people felt they had to have one, including my family. We definitely don’t feel the need to get another tablet anytime soon since it just functions like a giant phone for the most part.
If you have the latest electronic gadgets, did you pay for them yourself? I’ve never paid for a gadget before.
Do you always put your litter in a trashcan? Of course. I know how to pick up after myself like a respectful human. < Yup.
When you walk/ride your bike/drive your car, are you careful? Yeah, unless I’m mad. Sometimes road rage will take over me tbh, especially if other people on the road have been stupid for quite some time.
What is the rudest thing a person could do or say to you? Something phobic after seeing Jess and I together. < This reminds me of when my ex and I used to get stares or whispers in public. But to be honest, I actually enjoyed those encounters because it only served as fuel for me to get even more affectionate and piss them off more, lol. Good times.
Anyway, the rudest thing I can think of at the moment is being cut while in line. Some people do it so subtly too, and their shy, careful shuffle to get in front of me is what irritates me the most because THEY KNOW they’re doing something shitty and yet are being so sneaky about it.
Have you ever been that rude to someone else? I have never cut in line, never will.
Do you think your parents are proud of you and what you do with your life? I don’t know. I hope so. I don’t know if they’re expecting me to move out at this point, but I hope they’re at least proud of the fact that their first kid managed to land a job, especially considering we’re living in Covid times.
Which would you rather be, famous or a "nobody"? Why? Can’t I be somewhere in between? When it boils down to it, I’d probably go with being a nobody...I’d miss the socialization and having friends, but at least it means I can get away with more.
Do you need to have the latest fashion in clothes and accessories? It would be nice, but I’m not desperate to have them.
If you have a job, do you get along with your co-workers? Yeah, I’d say so. I definitely have never fought with anyone yet. It’s hard to gauge my relationship with each of them because I entered the workplace while we’re under WFH so I’ve only gotten to talk to most of them through Viber; but so far, so good.
What kind of hobbies do you have? I like traveling and learning, so anything that’s got to do with those - going to museums, visiting ancestral houses, trying local art forms - I would definitely dive into. But if I’m not in a new province or country altogether, I like trying out new food and new restaurants, embroidering, watching my favorite shows, coloring, painting, and reading essays about history. :)
Would anything in the whole world make you give up any of those hobbies? I’m not super attached to painting anymore, so I guess.
Have you had/do you have any pets? I currently have two dogs. In the past we’ve had a cat, a rabbit, two birds, and several goldfish.
Do you even like animals? I love them, except insects.
If you aren't already, would you ever get married? It would be a nice thing to tick off my life event list.
If you are already married, what was the ultimate reason for the marriage? -
As a child, did you do anything really bad? I was raised in a highly violent household with the worst influences as my elders. Yes, I managed to squeeze in some horrible stuff when no one was looking.
^If so, what was it? What were the consequences? I was violent towards my brother but won’t get into it. The only thing I’ll mention is that I used to chase him around with a knife whenever he’d start becoming too much of a headache.
As a teenager, did you do anything really bad? I don’t think so. I was well-traumatized and abused by the time I was a teenager so I was afraid of fucking anything up and being in more trouble.
^If so, what was it? What were the consequences? The worst thing I did was lie about my performance in school, honestly. Which, looking back now, doesn’t even seem like a big deal considering I was only in high school then and grades from there barely matter.
Do you have a problem with authority? Nope. Well, a good number of my teachers didn’t seem to like me for some reason. I’d say it’s their problem though since I never did anything to raise hell in school, ever.
What's your favorite comic strip? I don’t have one.
Is there a piece of clothing you absolutely must wear every day Underwear... < Yep.
Has a doctor ever told you to lose weight? No. I’ve always been on the lighter side so that has never been a comment given to me by anyone.
Have you ever been diagnosed with a lifelong disease? Isn’t scoliosis a lifelong thing? If it is, then yes I have been.
What is something you absolutely hate? Fruits.
What about something you absolutely love? Seafood! Which is why I have spicy tuna salad and dynamite rolls with me at the moment :)
