SPOILER
So yeah it’s basically confirmed this last chapter appears to really just scrap every DLC and is strictly a follow up to base game but also….
This was Darby’s reasoning for not saying goodbye to her people. This was his explanation. Im so angry I am seething. First of all, that wedding emphasized THE IMPORTANCE of saying goodbye to them. They were everything to her. You made us spend 170+ hours on a slow burn romance to finally say Eivor and Randvi loved each other. They finally could be together without betrayal. And you didn’t think a goodbye was necessary?! After so many queer women thanked you for that romance! ARE YOU KIDDING ME DARBY.
And Gunnar was so valued to her she blessed his fucking wedding and therefore a goodbye wasn’t necessary because you felt it took place after we just did the wedding, which almost all of us did TWO YEARS AGO?! And if anything, that wedding would have made it more important because the goodbye happened YEARS LATER!!!
And if you based it on base game, you then just admitted you made Eivor decide years later that “everything else” no longer mattered to her. Because we would have “just played” that part too.
Guys I can’t. This is a disaster.

dungeon meshi ch 85 spoilers
i've been meaning to make this for a while, but this part, this moment right here was beautiful. it made me laugh, it made me cry. it was a clear re-dedication to the core principles of the story, it let me know everything was going to be okay, no matter how weird or dour the remaining chapters got
we have:
laios saying shit in a heartfelt but terribly worded manner
direct comforting of marcille's anxiety about the passing of her friends from her friends in a way that doesn't belittle her feelings but does provide a path forward
(which is the callback to chapter 3 with senshi's advice to the new adventurers)
and we get a sort of call back to marcille crying out of frustration about eating monsters from chapter 4
but now she's surrounded by friends
i'm still getting misty-eyed from making this post...

Oda: okay I'm going into the final saga!!!
Oda: But first. Would you like to hear the intricate and tragic backstories of people you met over 500 chapters ago.

This thread sums up my feelings. I will never leave Valhalla and Eivor behind. They game got me through a pandemic. I’ve never felt as represented as I have with Eivor. Character assassination and thinly veiled marketing ploy aside, I was immensely happy with that game and will forever be so. And Eivor and Randvi have been such an important romance for me and my own realizations of my sexuality.
But Ubisoft and AC are done for me. It’s time to find other franchises and companies that don’t treat fans like this and don’t embrace their worst sexist tendencies that reinforce their most sexist and bigoted fans.
So this will not be a Tumblr for AC outside of Valhalla and I will be filtering out all content related to it. By all means, if you feel like you need to leave Valhalla behind or continue with AC, you do you! But that’s not my path. I look forward to future experiences outside of Ubisoft/AC that will complement the joy I felt with Valhalla over two years. And I’ll continue to discuss Eivor, Randvi and Valhalla as I always have for as long as I feel compelled to.
