Hey I really hope I'm not bugging you! I'm just not 100% who to ask and I remember you saying at some point that you're a programmer? I have some experience from school (Matlab, mostly) and self taught html/css, but I wanted to start learning python and like... All of the tutorials assume I know a bunch of high level terms and how they work and like? I do not know these things so I'm feeling really lost? I was wondering if you knew any sites or anything that explain like the very fundamentals of back-end coding well because obviously Im not as prepared as I thought I was 😭😭 thank you!!
Okay, so! I don't exactly have any one exact resource to give you (if anyone else does, feel free to link them) but here's my take: you're probably better off looking into more generic "intro to programming" material rather than specifically "intro to python" material.
And I don't mean that as a bad thing!! It's just that experience with Matlab and html/css very likely doesn't contain a number of the core fundamentals, and that's why you're feeling lost.
When I took engineering classes that used Matlab, oftentimes Matlab was used moreso as a glorified calculator than as a programming language. A lot stuff like - line 1: declare this array of data points, line 2: do this calculation on the data points, line 3: graph the result. Which is all well and good, but is pretty limited in teaching core ideas about programming.
As for html/css, they're definitely important for web development, and it's knowledge I use every day at my job, but they're not programming languages. HTML is a markup language, which allows you to structure a web page, and CSS allows you to apply styles (and frankly, knowing how to use class/id selectors, nth child stuff, etc etc in css deserves some programming recognition). But unless you've done a healthy amount of Javascript too along with the html/css, then that probably doesn't cover the fundamentals either.
Those intro to python courses you found might be geared toward people who already have experience with some language, and now want to learn python. If you try to find something that's focused on the basics of programming, and not the language, you'll probably get a bunch of those high level terms explained to you, rather than them being assumed knowledge.

Sure! Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury is the new standalone Gundam series. Like 00 it happens in its own verse and timeline so it doesn't require previous Gundam experience and you can go into it blind and enjoy it. Also it's CHOKEFULL of haros. It's a haro bonanza. And it's super gay 100% reccomend. Make sure to watch the prologue too.
Anyway I share a crunchyroll account so that's where I'm watching rn but I think it's already on 9anime if you wanna pirate it too!

i am SO happy you asked about this one bc lemme tell you dude, this au is my baby HKJDFHG even though i haven't actually worked that much on it in comparison to my other 00 projects... i think this au is a year or two old by now, but it's sort of gotten sidelined by other things (like xenogundam), so i haven't written a lot for it yet. here's a snippet from the prologue!
"—leaving."
"And why is that? Don't you want to say hello to our guest?"
"..."
"You look so serious! Suit yourself, then. I'll talk to him."
"...Regene."
"Yes?"
"When I come back, you'd better be able to convince me that this was a good idea."
"...I'll see you later, Ribbons."
A quiet scoff.
Footsteps.
The sound of a heavy door creaking and slamming shut.
And then—
And then...
And then, Tieria Erde's eyes snap wide open.
the classic "lockon lives" au, but with a twist! because instead of lockon stratos, tieria erde is the one who goes to confront ali al-saachez during operation fallen angels, and instead of lockon stratos, tieria erde is the one who dies. nadleeh is destroyed, and its pilot along with it; only the gn drive can be recovered from the scene. setsuna missing, allelujah missing, tieria dead—lockon is the sole survivor of the gundam meisters. except, unbeknownst to the remaining members of celestial being, there are systems in place to resurrect a fallen innovade, and regene regetta doesn't seem satisfied to let his sibling die just like that.
so, this au doubles not just as a lockon lives au but also as an innovator!tieria au; regene spends the 4 years between seasons 1 and 2 convincing tieria to join ribbons's side, while neil spends those years stewing in his survivor's guilt and mourning the friends he's lost. i may not have a lot written for this au but i have PLENTY of thoughts, bc the concept is just chock full of so many fun implications and ideas. like, how would neil handle being the only gundam meister left? in canon, tieria is able to assume a more leaderlike position in those in-between years, but neil is so bitter and downtrodden that i don't even know if he would be able to bring himself to believe that setsuna and alle are still alive. as much as he tries to act like he's an optimist we all know that's not the case lmao. also imagining lyle as seravee/seraphim's pilot? very fun. give that man a big gun, i think he'd like that! also, tieria would get to interact with louise and neil would get to interact with saji, which is... ohhhh you have no idea how many thoughts i have on that. the parallels between louise and neil are palpable and you bet i'm gonna explore those as much as i can. there's lots more i could go into (ie: anew my beloved) but this post is long enough and i don't want to give away too much so i'll keep quiet for now :3
i think the fact that i have so many thoughts about this au is actually a big reason why i've barely written anything for it HKGDFJGK like, there's so much to explore that i have a hard time sitting down and sorting out details like "what actually happens in the fic" and "the order in which those events happen". but i really want to make this au into a proper fic some day! i swear to god i'm gonna do it!!
as for the au's title, it comes from a song of the same name by saintseneca! it hurts me immensely too, so i'm glad i could inflict the same pain upon you <3

adhd lifehack: roomba
and like i know i know theyre expensive but i hadnt vacuumed for over six months (because adhd) and then i spent $179.99 on black friday last year and in exchage i got a little robot hockey puck (her name is birdy because she chirps) who every tuesday, thursday, and sunday wanders around my studio apartment and bumps into walls and eats all the cat hair and hay and rabbit poop and all i have to do is rescue her if she gets trapped by horrors beyond her comprehension (the bench with mirrored legs) and clean out her compartment (easy it just pops out and i dump it in the trash).
no longer do i get paralyzed by the Cleaning Terrors of "oh my floor is gross im a failure of an adult i have to clean it but in order to clean it i have to move furniture and then deal with the vacuum and go over spots and it takes so long i cant but im a failure of an adult i cant do anything else cleaning because of how bad my floor is"
my floor is clean, it's nice to walk on, all the other adulting cleanliness tasks become so much easier because the elephant in the room has been taken out back and shot by a tiny robot maid with a gun

thinkin about..... justin law again..... like i have for the past literal decade and counting....
im still mad about the soul eater manga for many reasons but one of them one of the big reasons is justin law
because on the surface yeah it's "the creepy hyperviolent religion obsessed weirdo who is out of touch with social and even religious norms picks a new god and goes off the rails" concept which is fine it fits the soul eater vibe it's even got echos of asura's fall from grace
and yeah "he went insane because he neglected to form the proper weapon-meister social bond" is fitting for soul eater as well and really hammers in the difference between justin (who in the series is presented as someone who could not be saved) and stein (whose bonds are what make him someone the series decides should be saved)
and okay fine "he attacked and decapitated the one friend he had, the only person who tried to reach out to him" does hammer that in. (though tbh tezca is. bad. thats not a friend)
and yes it's a shonen series with a huge emphasis on bonds so it's genre appropriate that the adults stand around and go "this teenager cannot be saved because he failed to form friendships and so no one cares about him enough to go after him"
except
one problem
and that problem is very very simple and very very obvious and very very baked into justin law's entire character
and it's the problem of his weapon form.
because justin law is a guillotine.
because ohkubo made it extremely clear that justin physically cannot have a meister.
because the entire message of "you need to have friends and you need people around you who understand you" falls completely apart when the character used by the author as the example was designed by the author to be physically incapable of forming the bonds every other character has and excuse me ohkubo you're telling me what? he thought this was clever? he thought going "im going to make a character who cannot form a meister-weapon bond and play him up as cool for fighting solo and make him go evil to really bring it home that you need friends" was a clever idea? it's ohkubo so probably
but actually ohkubo just made a character who was physically barred from forming proper relationships with others, and then had every responsible adult in this character's life look at him and by the time he was thirteen go "not only is this good that he's socially isolated and doesn't have a life partner like everyone else does by this age, we should give him a role in our organization where he works solo all the time. this is a good idea. this will not backfire on anyone involved in any way." and by the time he was seventeen the adults went "if only he had made proper social bonds he would have someone who cared enough to save him from getting his soul clownjacked by an incarnation of the god of madness"
and it is almost 2023 and ohkubo stopped writing soul eater in 2013 (and stopped caring about the series in like idk 2010 at the latest) and i am still thinking too much about this asshole teenage sadist who according to the manga got exactly what he deserved but really deserved so much better

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
The vast majority of what I write/post isn't chaptered, because it's really hard for me to write all of the parts of a long idea, but for the few I've written (or attempted), I at least plan out the beats of the story, even if the events or order of individual chapters aren't nailed down beforehand. And sometimes when they are they still change but that's fine haha

I don't actually know?? I truly don't have a consistent style. I'm a big fan of doing whatever works best for each idea, and that means everything (including tense, perspective, tone, style) can change from one fic to the next, even within the same fandom
24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
Hmm, I remember some feedback in classes where the suggestions would have meant taking the thing in a different direction entirely. And even if it would have made it the kind of story the other person liked better, it wouldn't have been the story I was trying or wanting to tell. That's not particularly fun or helpful feedback so thankfully that's not something I have to think about when writing fanfiction!
40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
Oh my goodness, I literally would not have a preference?? I would love absolutely anything and everything that someone wanted to make??? I've been so lucky that I've actually gotten some fanart and fanfics and podfics and they're literally the best and amazing and incredible and make me so happy whenever I think about the fact that they exist and alskhdfsiashdflhsd
