A happy ending, eventually.
This was my original idea for the Close Quarters Exchange (for the tag 'immortal together'), but I changed my mind when I wasn't sure I'd be able to hit the deadline (and also that my giftee may prefer a wangxian that fit more in the spirit of the classic 'close quarters' trope). Which was correct! But also then I decided to do it anyway, in one day. So forgive any rough edges.

Unfridging MDZS Women Bingo
Prompt 1: No Cultivation AU, Lan Yi & Baoshan Sanren
OK, so. I decided that both of these women are eligible for unfridging. BSSR wasn't dead, but she was Lady-not-Appearing-in-this-Novel, plus she lives on a cold mountain... That's a sort of fridge, right? right
I thought up a few non-cultivation AUs for them, and I especially liked the thought of them growing old together (who doesn't love old lady lesbians, and of course I imagined them with milfy Yan Wushi-esque white streaks in their hair)
But in this AU, you can imagine them both as lowkey chaos gremlins. They're probably crashing a celebration in order to get secret political info. They're definitely having fun.

Also, I really feel the need to recommend “Carry It All” which is actually a Baoshan Sanren/Lan Yi fic. It is SEVERELY underrated but I love it sooo much. I couldn’t find many fics as good as this one where the main focus is bss/ly.

I don’t know what your preference in woke-ish character, but I like how MXTX wrote her female characters that while they are not necessarily powerful, they are competent.
From Baoshan Sanren, Lan Yi, and Wen Qing who is expert in healing.
Then Ling Wen & Yushi Huang, who are equally competent in their respective field.
MXTX didn't need to make her female characters being top tier combatants.
But she shows their value through their competence alone.
Though sometimes I still wish a female character who can also become a top tier combatant in MXTX’s verse, but with her balanced flaw as well. We may already got that in Baoshan Sanren, but we need more about her story than just being a mere background character.
Sometimes she likes to be criticized for not helping Wei Ying and Xue Yang, but that is her flaw, that she is not omniscient.
Which is totally fine to me.
