i finally watched the miraculous movie, and i really like it! its been a long while since ive watched the show (i think i stopped at s3?) and watching this was like a breath of fresh air, it really feels like im 16 again and watching ladybug and chat noir for the first time 🥹 while there were a couple of things i wasnt terribly fond of, i would still give it a solid 7.5/10. the animation was stunning, and i liked how tikki and plagg were the one that chose who they wanted as their wielder, though i really did wish adrien’s backstory was explored just a bit more, maybe as much as marinette’s but you can only fit so much in an hour and forty minutes so i get it. also, the songs are a hit or miss with me 😮‍💨 but overall, i can see myself rewatching the movie a bunch, its so cute and feel good, and i love my disastrous son and daughter <333

If I had a nickel for every time a morally ambiguous dog guy caused an emotional breakdown to our main female heroine, leading to her getting comforted by her cat boy love interest I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Classing the TDWT Contestants in function of the way I think they treated bugs as children.

3 categories : Bug Eater, Bug Killer, Bug Protector.

Heather was, somehow, a bug killer and a bug protector, I think it depended on how her day went. She would never have eaten a bug.

Alejandro was a bug protector but I think José made him eat bugs at one point and he stopped caring about not killing bugs because he feared José would make fun of him and make him eat more bugs.

Duncan, bug serial killer, he had a bug protector phase than read somewhere that some bugs could grow back parts of their body and it went down hill from there.

Tyler, accidental bug killer, did he mean to do it ? No. Did he accidentally explose a bug by falling on it more than once ? Yes.

Lindsay, was afraid of bugs, screamed and threw shoes at them, bug killer.

Owen, accidental bug eater, his dad forgot to wash the salad one day, little Owen had the misfortune to discover that live catterpillars are somewhat crunchy and bitter.

Izzy, bug serial killer and bug eater, she was the Jigsaw and Hannibal of those poor unfortunates insects.

Gwen, ate a bug on a dare, felt guilty, reverted to desperate bug protector for two weeks and forgot about it.

Leshawna, bug protector or bug killer, relocated the bugs if it was possible and convenient.

Courtney, fierce bug protector, wanted to win a Nobel prize for "saving the diversity of her local ecosystem" then she accidentally stepped on a snail and gave up out of shame.

Noah, bug protector and bug killer, I think bugs weren't much of his concerns but perhaps one of his allergies made him reluctant to relocate every bug that would enter his house. Hated termites with all his little soul.

DJ, fierce bug protector, stepped on a ladybig once without seeing it and had nightmares about a flock of ghosts ladybugs attacking him for weeks. Still feels a bit guilty.

Harold, had magazines about bugs and would look at them with a magnifying glass. Accidentally set fire to some ants and developed a small god complex for a couple of weeks but stopped after he lost he magnifying glass and took interest in a new thing.

Bridgette was a bug protector and still is. Loved butterflies as a child and now she helps protecting them by raising and releasing endangered species, DJ probably helps.

Ezekiel, bug eater. Got sick because of it and stopped eating bugs and started killing them as a form of juvenile revenge.

Cody, bug protector, had some snails as pets but had to release them at one point due to a lack of space in his room.

Blaineley, avid bug killer and arachnid slayer. She was scared of them and would scream a lot. Started trapping them and making silly stories that would end up in the death of the bugs.

Sierra, didn't really care for bugs, more on the bug killer side as it was simpler than to release them. Later one of her first celebrity crush revelead that they had a bug collection and she became a fierce bug protector.

wait... did marinette somehow not realise that papillon was gabriel agreste? felix&kagami literally told her, and though she might be maladroite, she's very smart - like she has very good deduction skills, just look at how her lucky charms work. why would she just ignore that?

that was the whole point of the senti-story, otherwise the message would have only been "only ladybig can save everyone from papillon" which was already obvious. no, they were saying "only ladybug can save us from the clothes-maker, this evil dude" like they literally told her gabriel was papillon why is she just ignoring that i-

i know there are so so many plot holes but come on why make a beautiful sequence with such an obvious message if it was gonna be ignored that way

no no but really i am watching the felix-story sequence again and it is 100% non-misunderstandably shown that gabriel is the papillon.

What I wouldnt give to see Kagami, Felix, Chloe and Adrien all just. Hanging out.

Just gimme some rich kids shenanigans, and their normal friends feeling hella poor compared to them cuz they have no concept of prices.

Just. Marinette dying on the inside cuz Adrien paid to get her food at this expensive restaurant and not batting an eye, Kagami seeing Alya geeking out over some expensive action figure and just buying it, "What?..you liked it..friends usually get friends each other things correct?" "YES BUT NOT GIFTS THAT COST MORE THAN MY PHONE BILL!"

Gimme Felix and Chloe having an argument over which headphones Nino should get even though hes expressed several times he cant afford either and theyre insane-

Gang of Secrets ending

A lot of the analysis posts on the Gang of Secrets ending that have been circulating on my dash discuss the implications of Mari revealing her identity to Alya and not Chat Noir, and how Chat will understandably feel hurt once he finds out etc. A lot of their points seem to be that it was good that it was Alya and not Chat because Mari needed someone in her civilian life to give her that support and make her less isolated and also cos Alya was her best friend.

All valid reasons and I wholeheartedly agree.

In summary, all of these posts seem to be on the same theme that Marinette needs to have support in her civilian life so that she doesn’t feel isolated. This is what I don’t get? Yeah she’ll receive support, but what about Chat? Is he also not one of her trusted best friends? Can he also not help Mari feel less isolated?

This is the key point that these posts have been missing. Ladybug doesn’t have to reveal her identity to Chat to still feel supported and less alone.

You remember that as Chat and Ladybug were leaving the movie theatre, Chat implored Ladybug to get her to open up to him and that if something is going on in her life, she can talk to him? That he also knows a thing about heartbreak? Instead she puts on a facade that everything is fine and straight up leaves, cutting the conversation short and leaving him standing there.

Now obviously she doesn’t have to reveal key personal details but Ladybug can say that she recently had a breakup because it was difficult to maintain a relationship while being a superhero and constantly having to fight akumas, and that keeping that secret was what led to the breakup? She could also open up about how with Master Fu no longer around, that the Guardianship was taking on a toll on her as well?

Do you see my point here? Opening up about these things will help her feel more supported in her superhero life as well. She doesn’t have to reveal her identity to Chat, but knowing that she can talk to him about her struggles will build better trust between the two, and consequently she’ll feel less stressed. I would say it’s actually annoying that she doesn’t do that anyway in canon despite how she’s shown how much she loves Chat (platonically obvs) and that it pains her when he takes hits for her. If she supposedly trusts her partner so much then why doesn’t she open up to him?

Anyways that was my rant on ml discourse.
