( Hivewing Variation Headcanon 1/3 ) Wasp Hivewings

Wasp Hivewings are a type of Hivewing generally considered to be the most common by population and by other tribes. Stereotypically they are often seen as full of themselves but also very stupid, this of course is not true and simply a stereotype but it commonly persists among the other tribes but isn’t that common with other Hivewings or Nightwings due to Hivewings strong admiration and devotion to their own tribe and their allies the Nightwings. Wasp Hivewing base scales are all black but they can vary from having red, orange, yellow, white and rarely blue-green markings but they are mainly black, which is why they commonly view themselves as the closest known relatives to the Nightwings. To Wasp Hivewings, their Nightwing heritage is very important to them and many of the Hivewings living in the Night Kingdom are actually Wasp Hivewings who wanted to be closer to their ancestors. However unlike Honey or sometimes referred to as Bee Hivewings, they don’t really care for their Beetlewing heritage at all. Of course some Wasp Hivewings do care for learning about Beetlewings but the vast majority does not. Typically, Wasp Hivewings who don’t like in the Night Kingdom usually like in Mantis Hive, Yellowjacket Hive, and Cicada Hive. As you can likely tell from Yellowjacket Hive, the royal family is primarily Wasp Hivewings. Hivewings have a certain culture of separating their variations and assigning them to certain Hives, the hives they live in are assigned by the Queen, who assigns three ladies and three hives to be where each of them live, which the exception of the Wasp Hivewings who have two ladies and one Queen. This has been a problem in the Hives for as long as any Hivewing can remember, due to the separation leading to distrust, hatred and extremely radical beliefs between the three variations which often leads to much more conflict than it’s worth. Wasp Hivewings don’t all believe in the same ideas like all dragons aren’t the same but Hivewing Surveys have shown that Wasp Hivewings are extremely loyal to the Queen and Royal Family as they were the direct descendants of the first ever Hivewing according to Wasp Hivewing belief. They tend to follow orders and not question the Queen whatsoever. This loyalty to the Queen used to be pretty normal and to a point where the Wasp Hivewings would oppose or speak out against the Queen if she were to do anything inhumane or morally wrong. But since Queen Yellowjacket and her chosen ladies ruling over the Wasp Hives, the Wasp Hivewings have been more loyal than ever due to the constant favors they get from their Queen and Ladies which often makes them feel indebted to them, which was a purposeful tactic on the Queen’s behalf. Outside of culture, Wasp Hivewings really aren’t so different biologically from their counterparts but their are a few key differences. Besides color palette, Wasp Hivewings almost always have stinger which can be on the back of their wrists and tails. Their venom when injected into another dragon leaves them with a five minute period for them to “refill” their venom to use it again, as for the dragon injected, they typically experience an itchy swelling spot on their scales where they were stabbed, and experience immense pain depending on the genetics of the Wasp Hivewing. This pain can even last for days depending on how deep the venom seeped in. Some dragons are also naturally allergic to the venom and will die without quick medical attention if injected. In terms of size, Wasp Hivewings are pretty average but they are known for their more slim body types, not all Wasp Hivewings are very slim but it’s highly likely due to their genetics. The two most noticeable differences from other Hivewings that Wasp Hivewings have are their wings membranes which are always black that sometimes can have white, yellow, orange, red or blue-green veins and their horns which are straight and more akin to an average Nightwings.

Canon Characters I headcanon as Wasp Hivewings: Queen Wasp, Lady Scarab and Lady Jewel

My wof ocs that are Wasp Hivewings: Queen Yellowjacket, Lady Mantis, Lady Cicada, Lady Beetle ( partially ), Lady Cricket ( Partially ), Lady Termite ( Partially ), Lady Ladybug ( Partially ), Lady Weevil ( Partially ) and Lady Mayfly ( Partially ) although again not all of them, still working on developing them!

Next up on the list will be a Seawing Variation Oooooooo! Probably will be doing Coastal Seawings next! Also not gonna make a post about it but I’m gonna explain it real quick, partial variations are just dragons who are mixes of variations. This happens because of either their genetics or their environment. Dragons adapt really quickly, so basically what this means is that if a dragon isn’t a partial variation from genetics, they would be just one variation and then ( for example if they’re a Honey/Bee Hivewing who moves to a Wasp Hive and lives there for a long time ) their features will slightly adapt to match this new variation, but usually only their coloration and size will change, no new abilities or anything it’s usually just a physical thing.
