My doctor moved offices ALMOST AN HOUR AWAY AND is no longer taking phone appointments, so even tho all I need is a Rx refill for the drugs I've been on forever, I have to commute my sorry ass MILES away from home and work in the dark at night bc ofc I can't miss work for this bc I need to be paid and yeah I rlly should find a doctor closer to home but I like and trust my doctor (mostly) and at the very least she's good about my Horrible Brain Spiders and prescribes my Brain Drugs without issue and isn't one of those ppl who's like "oh ok have u considered that you should stop" BC I absolutely CANNOT go off my meds

But like. Fuck me.

A knock rang at the bridgertons door at midnight. A loud, furious knock that would seem daunting for anyone else, but Colin had been expecting something like this to happen for the last few weeks.

He shooed away the maids and the butlers who attempted to reach the door, claiming that he had an important personal situation he must see to before sending them firmly to the servant quarters.

He opened the door to find a furiously distraught looking you, staring up at him with the amount of helplessness he could only picture on a small defenceless lamb. A sick part of him enjoyed that.

“My angel, you are soaked from the rain” he said, his voice dripping with concern that came off as condescending “come in at once”

“You lied” was all you hissed out as you barged into the bridgerton home and pushed Colin away once he tried to get close “you lied to me, you bastard”

“Sweetheart, that isn’t the kind of language that a young lady should use” Colin says with a disapproving tone before he took your arm rather roughly and dragged you to the his room “why don’t we discuss whatever’s troubling you in a more private setting”

As he drags you into his quarters, he observes the wetness of your body from the rain and sighs before gathering a coat that he could place over your body if you were allow him to get close. It didn’t seem like you were tolerant to that idea as you dart to the other side of the room when he came near.

“Why don’t you tell me what’s troubling you, my angel?” Colin asks with a sigh of frustration

There is a pregnant pause where it seems like you are in some state of shock. You eventually sigh and break the silence by looking up at him with tears in your eyes.

“I haven’t bled this month” you say through a shaky sigh, a tremble ripples over your body from both the implication of your words and the cold rain dripping from your hair and onto your body

“And do you know what that means?” Colin asks carefully with a smidge of condescension

“Of course I know what that means” you snap at him with anger in your eyes before sighing “the maids told me that they didn’t bleed when they had become with child”

Colin lets a smile spread across his face, what a clever girl you were.

“Don’t smile” you snap with frustration evident on your face “don’t smile like this so something to be happy about”

“This is something to be happy about” Colin stated, his pride clear in his tone and his smile wider than ever before “we are going to have a child”

“You lied to me Colin” you say with a hurt tone “you told me that I wouldn’t become with child, you promised me”

“Accidents happen my love, i cannot be faulted for not predicting this outcome” Colin state’s defensively as his tone holds faux innocence

“That is a lie” you yell in frustration “you knew that I would have to marry you if I became with child and you took advantage of the situation”

“You think me to be this cruel?” Colin asks with his tone holding hurt at the accusation “you think me to be this monster you have created in your mind?”

“I know you to be that monster” you state with anger evident on your face “you have derailed my entire future!”

“If I remember correctly, you were an active participant in that derailing” Colin accuses angrily “you could have told me to stop, you could have left”

“I tried-“ you attempt to defend yourself but you are cut off

“If you’d have told me a firm no then I would have left that party and ceased any attempts at courting you” Colin lies with an effective amount of certainty “if you had simply told me to stop I would have, or do you think me a pervert as well as a monster?”

“I-i” you stutter out through quick, panicked breaths “i tried to- I didn’t mean to become with child”

There is a moment of silent thoughtfulness as the only sound let out by either of you was your sorrowful sobs. Colin sighs at your pathetic sight before he comes closer and wraps your trembling and cold body up with his coat.

He lifts your tear filled eyes up to meet his comforting gaze as he caresses your cheeks in his hands softly.

“Don’t you see how good for us this can be?” Colin asks with a hopeful smile “we can get married, we can be a family”

“My father will never accept your proposal” you mumble with an absent mind

“Maybe not if I ask him, but I’m sure if his favourite daughter were to ask him nicely he could be convinced” Colin offers a solution and watches your hesitant response before sighing and his tone becomes more sinister “what other choice do you have now angel, you have to think about our child”

Colin wraps his arms around you in a hold that is similar to how a snake constricts around his prey. After your initial hesitance you slowly accept defeat and lean into his hold before nodding your head.

Delight spread through Colin’s chest at the acceptance, you were finally going to be his forever.

He may have morally damned himself forever but it was worth it to be inside you, and worth even more to know that his pleasurable experience has now locked you with him forever like lustful shackles that can never be broken.

Women wearing only "g-strings" while bending over in front of traffic has become an increasingly common sight in National City, California, as prostitution issues spiral after the implementation of a controversial state law, the city’s mayor told Fox News Digital.

"They're waving to people on the freeway or, just to be honest with you, they are bending over for the freeway. I don’t know how else to put it; they're showing their wares," National City Mayor Ron Morrison told Fox News Digital in an interview this month.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 357 in July 2022, which repealed a previous law that banned loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution. The law took effect in January this year, with Morrison arguing that the moment Newsom’s pen touched the bill, pimps in the state knew they could expand their prostitution ventures with little repercussions from law enforcement.

"The moment it was signed by the governor, boom, everyone knew the rules were out the window," Morrison told Fox News Digital.

"Those that are out there on the street, most of them are wearing less than what you would consider a scanty negligee. It is just flaunting in everybody's face. And so a lot of people are screaming, ‘Hey, you know, can't you get them on indecent exposure?’ And the problem is the way our laws read in this state. The definition of indecent exposure is as long … as the genitals are covered. Anything else is fair game out in public."

CALIFORNIA PROSTITUTION LAW ALLOWS SEX ABUSE TO 'RUN RAMPANT' IN LOS ANGELES STREETS, VICTIM ADVOCATES WARN

National City is a diverse working-class city of roughly 60,000 residents just outside San Diego on the bay, Morrison said. Prostitution issues are no stranger to the city, with the mayor explaining that as an urban area, sex workers have been known to cross the San Diego city border – but never at the rate he’s currently seeing.

"Very much beyond brazen," Morrison said of what he’s seeing on his streets.

Prostitutes gather in a downtown area that faces a freeway and are most often seen early in the morning and around 3 p.m. Morrison added that another new California law that legalized jaywalking has compounded the issues as some women stand in traffic to attract a john.

"I was driving on one of the streets the other day, and there's this young lady standing there in the middle of the street wearing basically a G-string, and that was it, and a couple pasties. But she's right in front of my car, I couldn't move. So, I did ask her very politely, ‘Would you please move out of the street?’ And she looked at me and says, 'If you don't want to talk to me, you can go around,'" Morrison said.

Businesses, ranging from mom-and-pop stores to national hotel chains, have sounded off to the mayor that the prostitutes are driving away business and have forced some businesses to refund families who were appalled at seeing nearly naked women while on their California getaway.

Even a local school covered its windows after prostitutes were repeatedly found hanging out near its gates, Morrison said.

The mayor argues that the issue comes down to Senate Bill 357, which he called an "idiotic law" that should be known as the "Safe Streets for Pimps Initiative," which has allegedly not only left his town and other municipalities in the state dealing with an increase of sex workers on the street, but it has also incentivized human trafficking.

"This one has just opened the doors to prostitution, sex trafficking, child sex trading, I mean, you name it. This has obviously done that. And I don't think anyone that is not just purely politically motivated could disagree with that," Morrison said.

The mayor described himself as a "nonpartisan" who has worked at various levels of government over more than 30 years, whose main focus is to "look out for people in National City and their businesses" and not play politics in Sacramento.

Senate Bill 357 was authored by Democrat state Sen. Scott Wiener, who championed the bill as one that would help protect transgender women from being targeted by police.

"[The previous law] allowed police officers to arrest a person, not based on what they did but based solely on how a person looks," Wiener told local media earlier this year. "So, an officer could arrest someone because they were wearing tight clothing, high heels and extra lipstick."

Fox News Digital previously spoke with members of the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST), which is one of the largest and oldest direct service providers for sex and labor trafficking survivors in the U.S., who said they supported the bill "because we know that reducing the criminalization of survivors will help prevent human trafficking."

"Traffickers rely on our systems to criminalize victims so that they are unable to access safety due to their records and are vulnerable to continued exploitation," Leigh LaChapelle, CAST's associate director of survivor advocacy, told Fox News earlier this year after the law took effect.

"The impact of these encounters with law enforcement reinforce already heightened stigma when someone is arrested for this offense due to the difficulties securing employment and safe housing with an arrest record relating to the sex trade," LaChapelle added. "Violation of this discriminatory law also puts immigrants in jeopardy of deportation, loss of residency or denial of reentry due to a misdemeanor conviction."

Prostitution is still illegal in California, but Morrison said the new law has effectively legalized the crime as police back off from intervening or interacting with the women.

"Senate Bill 357, which for all intents and purposes made prostitution legal because what it said is that officers can no longer contact people based on the idea of loitering for the purpose of prostitution. So, it basically tells the police your hands are off," Morrison said.

He noted that some of the girls on the street appear underaged, though the amount of makeup the sex workers wear makes it difficult to gauge an age, and the city has previously seen girls as young as 12 working on the streets.

"A lot of the times [police] found out that these were juveniles … or that they were basically being sex trafficked, and they could get them out of that. Now, they basically have no legal opportunity to even talk to them," Morrison said.

With prostitution blatantly on the streets, other crimes have also followed, including shootings and assaults. Morrison said that just weeks ago an eight-month pregnant prostitute was kidnapped, beaten and raped.

"Those [crime incidents] go on our crime stats. We've had shootings, everything else involving the prostitutes and the pimps. So, those crime stats go on us. These people don't live here in National City and people here don't want them, but we're getting the crime stats," he said.

Morrison said he is working with the local district attorney and the police department to craft avenues on how to navigate the state laws while cleaning up the streets. The police department has carried out "john stings" in the past, but such operations require a team of roughly 30 officers, which would translate to half of the city’s police force, and weeks of planning, Morrison said.

"People here are not happy about this in the least. And the problem is they expect us locally to do something about it. And we're sitting here with our hands behind our back with handcuffs on that Sacramento was placed on us," Morrison said.

Ugh still thinking about that awful doctors appointment. Not like dwelling on it- but I keep remembering more things from it.(because it was so so chaotic)

You know the appointment where my doctor made a joke about me wanting to be a bearded lady & misgendered me multiple times only to tell me she highly doubts I’ll ever be able to go on testestrone but let’s run the bloodwork anyway (after 6 other previous appointments promising that we would talk about me starting T next month & how exciting I was that I was almost ready) & putting me on a female hormone which caused feminizing effects in the meantime

I just remembered when I said I wanted to go on Gel she said that I would have to apply it - touch absolutely nothing & sit in the bathroom for at least an hour. (Lie) and If I accidentally touched a faucet or door handle my children (I don’t have kids) could have serious health concerns and I would be the cause of their hormones turning the opposite way. (Wtf?) and I told her I didn’t have kids. I was well researched on gel & I was going to buy one of those paddle things to apply it so I don’t waste any of the gel & it all goes on my arms/thighs & not down the sink. And she kind of doubled down on her original statement of how dangerous exposure to testosterone was to anyone and how it was like a violation to their gender if I accidentally dosed them.

Ugh - anyway I’m finally going to speak to my health insurance advocate to find a new doctor.

& if I can’t find one or like I find one but it’s a waiting list of like 6 months before I can get an initial appointment. I did find 2 out of pocket resources- folx or queerdoc who do telehealth appointments with often same day prescriptions of HRT

& I know there is a panned parenthood near me so I could try that but idk if I want to go that route. Maybe.

Ptolemaea - A Chapter One Preview

Note: I am hard at work on this next chapter! There's a lot to set up, and it is shaping up to be a bit of a behemoth (potentially around 9-10k words). I'm close to halfway there... I think, lol. But I thought I'd whet your appetites with a dialogue-heavy sneak peek. Enjoy!

“Is there not a chance that they might be impressed by me?” Alys asks after righting herself. “For winning back mine own hand, which was already supposed to be mine by rights?” She knows the answer, in truth, but feels desperate enough to ask.

“I suppose a small one,” Lymon considers. “Several houses have, or have had, ladies lead them, both in battle and as heads of house. And nearly all the Great Houses still recognize your father’s word as, if not law, then bond. But – whether we agree with them or not – most still see a lady’s place as in the home. Wedded, producing heirs, keeping house; not besting boys in the art of war. Or, one of the arts, at least. We will have to count ourselves lucky if they perceive it as a rebellion against your uncle –”

“Which it is,” she counters.

“Aye, but it is as likely, if not more so, that they will take offense, viewing it as a rejection of their house. We can’t presume that they will see it for what it truly is: a disavowal of your Uncle’s grasp for power,” he concludes.

Frustrated, Alys drops her head into her hands, fingers digging into her scalp. She wishes to growl, to scream, to rip at her hair or slam her fists on the table. To do anything to act upon her feelings. Instead, she takes a deep breath, then another, working to calm the tumult in her mind. Perhaps one more breath would do. Once she collects herself, she sets her hands back on the table, folding them together as her fingers continue to twist the signet. “Is there any other option?” she asks. “Any possibility of getting through this unscathed?” And unwed?

“There is one. You will not like it,” says the Maester, lips drawn thin.

“Tell me.”

“You run. No, do not interrupt. I know you have been in near constant contact with your Velaryon kin, the Lady Laena and your Aunt, the Princess Rhaenys, since your mother’s passing. I am the one who sends your letters, after all,” he says. “I took the liberty of sending a raven to your Uncle, Lord Corlys, making him aware of your plight – something you neglected to share with him, or any of them, it would seem.”

Aye, because until this moment, I assumed that I had this in hand. Arrogant, mayhaps, but it is the truth. Lymon takes her silence as encouragement to continue.

“He and the Princess Rhaenys have agreed to take you in as their ward. It is not customary, I know, but they are one of the most powerful houses in the Seven Kingdoms; soon to be made even more so with the wedding of your cousin Laenor to the Princess of Dragonstone a moon’s turn from now. They will have the security of the Crown behind them, and they can protect you until Cregan secures his seat. You may even be able to advocate for aid, if not from the Crown, then from your Uncles. Docking the Velaryon fleet at White Harbor would be a show of force, and could serve to discourage the lords that back Bennard against this coup.”

Alys quietly absorbs Lymon’s counsel. My Maester has been hard at work, it seems. It is a clever, nay, brilliant plan; but it is an unacceptable one.

“If I abandon my house, and my brother, what message does that send? And, should I run, as you suggest, what is to stop Bennard from closing the gates to us? A few hundred men can hold Winterfell, even if ten thousand set upon its gates. Winter is Coming, and all he’ll need to do is wait us out.” Alys sighs. “It is tempting to call upon the Velaryons for aid, I admit; but to ask for interference from a Southern house, kin or no, is tantamount to admitting Creg cannot hold the North. It would bolster Bennard’s claim that he is untried, unfit, unready. My brother would never allow it, nor can I. No, Maester. I cannot leave; for there must always be a Stark in Winterfell, a true one.”

Features: I’m a female, standing at 5’6, I possess long light brown hair with a tint of redness in the sunlight. My hazel eyes change each day from green/brown to brown/gold. I have the sun and moon tattoos on my thighs, a shark up my side torso on my ribs, half an arm sleeve and a neck tattoo revealing my zodiac sign – Gemini (which I often hide) I’m slender with curves.

Hobbies: I am a workaholic; it becomes my hobby at times. I work in the funeral home, removing the deceased from the POD. I enjoy my free time spent with my dogs, my fierce Doberman and my lovable, motivating exercise collie partner. I enjoy reading all things Stephen King and James Patterson and playing any horror related video games. You guessed it, I’m a strong advocate for the horror genre, and Freddy Krueger will always have my heart. I watch SOA and SPN religiously whenever I tilly tally around the house.

Personality: Often seen as an outgoing, happy go lucky, eccentric lady (This is from first judgement from people I know) When really, I’m rather introverted and possess way too dark humour. I collect knives, different types ranging from a replica of the SPN demon blade, to a jungle machete. These are all encases in a glass shelf, only used for display. I love to make others laugh, and I’m incredibly loyal to those I care for. I don’t practice religion (I support others who do) as the only thing I believe in, is the reaper.

Aesthetics: Not sure if this is a term but my house is very much cabin like. Wooden beams, brown features, brown clocks with black accents. I love this kind of theme, heavily decorated with green plants and fish tanks.

Likes: Lover of being at home, with my man and the dogs. Also a lover of all things spooky. I enjoy long hot showers with my candles lit in the shower itself, It’s so peaceful. I love to read, whether it be books in my hand or online. Sadly, I am a smoker, so my time alone on my patio having a cig is therapeutic to me. I adore time spent with my little family or my close friends whether it be going to the pub for a beer or shopping at Walmart for new bedding 😊 Coffee is my best friend.

Dislikes: My biggest dislike in this world, is seeing animals mistreated. I am that person that buys the near dead betta fish at the pet store and brings it home to treat and watch thrive. I dislike SNAKES. They just scare me, but don’t wish any ill will on them. Hypocrites are my triggers, can’t stand someone who preaches to the choir about wrong doings when they’re actively just as guilty. Own your shit is my motto.

Used to train canines for search work, in areas such as narcotics and explosives. My closest friend is my grandma. I love to wear black. My go to perfume is good girl. I play COD often – I’m competitive in nature. I wear the SONS rings as I got them custom made, and it’s my favourite accessory!

2. Unpopular Paul opinion?

My most unpopular Paul opinion is that Band on the Run is better than Ram and also I find that thing he does where he gives his voice more.... volume (think: Lady Madonna) doesn't always work and I prefer his more "plain" vocals (Yesterday, Little Lamb Dragonfly).

9. What do you think of Paul's lyrics?

They vary greatly lol. Often they're very fun, purely phonetically speaking, sometimes I find them insanely profound and they scratch my very specific itch of like Perfect Songwriting, sometimes they're not notable but don't bother me, sometimes they fail the vibe check, like "you could take a pound of love and cook it in a stew" or "my woman fits me like a glove" (JAIL!). Sometimes they're Hi Hi Hi.

12. What do you think of Yoko's art?

I've looked into some of her exhibitions and I see the appeal tbh. I read through a lot of Grapefruit once and found it pretty funny, though also much longer than it needed to be. She's a better singer than she gets credit for and I do feel like people are kind of missing the point when they call her scream music horrible. Like sure, it's unpleasant to listen to, but clearly that's the point?

22. Do we not talk enough about how problematic Ringo is/was?

Depends, to what end? It's interesting how he's designated a Wacky Old Grampa first and foremost without much to answer for – at the same time he's still regularly the butt of the joke even within fandom spaces and a bunch of people don't really engage with him as an individual. I feel like, you've just gotta be balanced? Like, I don't see much point in problematizing him as a figure if one isn't also invested in understanding him fully. It's true that John and Paul take the brunt of criticism but that's mostly because they also get the brunt of the praise and empathy. So hmm, yknow?

29. Should Paul get to change the name order on the songs he wants?

I really Don't Care much lol. I think Paul over-prioritizes this but I recognize that probably John did too, he just got "lucky" and now looks less invested because he didn't have to change anything to get his way. But. I Don't Care – he can advocate for this, but it's nowhere near as relevant as most of the metanarrative surrounding John v Paul. Also bringing back my meme now.

Unpopular Critical Role Opinion: Imogen is an annoying character

Alrighty Critical Role fandom, let’s talk about your favorite telepath: Imogen.

So. Imogen.

Aberrant mind sorcerer, resident moon lady, rock collector, and honestly, I could do without her. I’m normally apathetic to boring characters because they’re just characters, but Imogen...she is easily the flattest D&D Player Character I have seen Laura Bailey play, and that’s unfortunate, as I appreciate how she played Vex and Jester. She brought life to them and carried an energy to the table that completed the group during those two campaigns.

Imogen though, is none of that. To me, she’s boring, annoying, and comes across as self-entitled. She has a “holier-than-thou” and “I could never do anything wrong” attitude that is frankly frustrating to watch and wouldn’t look out of place on a high school campus. Her immaturity can be explained by the lack of life experiences she has had (similarly to Keyleth in C1), and it's fairly early in the campaign, but my read on the group says that she’s going to have to acknowledge her own flaws and how they impact people, and then deal with them on her own before anything can happen. I don’t see that happening anytime in the near future. In each campaign, there has been one character that just sits wrong, and this campaign, Imogen is holding that title.

Events in the most recent episode have only highlighted this more, particularly the quote-fight-endquote between Imogen and Laudna. Let’s take a look at it.

When Laudna broke her gnarlrock, she didn’t even allow Laudna to explain what happened, and allowed the awkwardness between them to fester. The rock may have been influencing her mental state, but there’s giving enough time for a cooldown, and there’s awkwardness growing because neither character knows how to approach the problem. You can be not ready for a hard conversation, but from what I can see, Imogen has been sitting and stewing, disregarding Laudna’s feelings as she stressed about actions she had no control over.

In this group, Imogen and Laudna have known each other the longest; Imogen should know Laudna is strange and things happen around her that can’t be explained (Laudna is literally a corpse moving with a soul). She may not know Laudna's full backstory, but Imogen is refusing to talk about it and she, for some reason, believes Laudna intentionally broke her gnarlrock. It’s interesting that she believes “that dead lady with a lot of love in her heart” would do something malicious like that. Playing devil’s advocate briefly, even if she secretly acknowledges it may have been an accident and Laudna didn’t do anything, she’s certainly not spinning it that way to Orym and the rest of Bell’s Hells. The refusal to talk has finally been brought up by the other characters, because it has gotten that bad. Imogen makes her problems everyone else’s problems and expects them to fix her problems for her.

If Imogen knew-knew Laudna, she might consider that while Launda may be smiling and laughing about being with Dusk (Dusk, ooooh boy, that’s a whole topic), it is because Imogen is not allowing an explanation and it seems like Laudna has no other allies in Bell’s Hells since Dorian left, with the exception of sometimes FCG and Ashton (there’s ANOTHER topic for me to talk about). Imogen’s acting like a kid who had her favorite toy got taken away, which might be because of her immaturity and lack of experiences. Her actions are causing Laudna (who already has HORRIBLE self-worth issues (hello, the “let her step on me” and “I’ll die for her” comments)) to believe she is a horrible friend. How long will it take Imogen to get off her high horse and let there be talk about it? Laudna got her the ptotholder and pencil, the start of an apology, but did Imogen ever say “thank you,” “can we talk,” or anything like that?

Imogen needs to bond with other members of Bell’s Hells who actually challenge her and do not automatically take her side. She needs to grow beyond what she has with Laudna before she be an interesting character for me (the Laudna/Imogen relationship is going to be discussed at a later time, because it’s a whole can of worms). She needs to consider other points of view and realize that she is not the only interesting individual here, far from it. All the characters in this campaign have their flaws and problems, but Imogen’s have gotten to the straight-up annoying point to me. Character development may be a thing, but of all the current characters, she’s going to have to work the hardest for it, and even then, she’ll likely remain the character I care the least about.

All of this isn’t helped by the fandom’s unhealthy obsession with Imogen.

This was written after episode 25 (Taste of Tal'Dorei), I have not seen the most recent 4-Sided Dive, and please note that this is my opinion.

Commemoration of the Meeting of the "Vladimir" Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos

September 8_August 26

The Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God was painted by the Evangelist Luke on a board from the table at which the Savior ate together with His All-Pure Mother and Righteous Joseph. The Mother of God, upon seeing this image, exclaimed, “Henceforth, all generations shall call Me blessed. The grace of both My Son and Me shall be with this icon.”

In the year 1131, the icon was sent from Constantinople to Rus to holy Prince Mstislav (April 15) and was installed in the Devichi monastery in Vyshgorod, the ancient appanage city of the holy Equal of the Apostles Princess Olga.

The son of George Dolgoruky, Saint Andrew Bogoliubsky, brought the icon to the city of Vladimir in 1155 and installed it in the renowned Dormition cathedral which he built. At this time the icon received its name of “the Vladimir Icon.” The icon was first brought to Moscow in the year 1395. Thus, the blessing of the Mother of God established the spiritual bonds of Byzantium and Rus via Kiev, Vladimir and Moscow.

The festal celebration of the Vladimir Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos occurs several times during the year (21 May, 23 June and 26 August). The most solemn celebration occurs on August 26, the Feast established in honor of the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon upon its Transfer from Vladimir to Moscow.

In the year 1395, the fearsome conqueror Khan Tamerlane (Temir-Aksak) reached the Ryazan frontier, took the city of Elets and advancing towards Moscow he came near the banks of the River Don. Great Prince Basil Dimitrievich went with an army to Kolomna and halted at the banks of the River Oka. He prayed to the holy Hierarchs of Moscow and Saint Sergius for the deliverance of the Fatherland, and he wrote to the Metropolitan of Moscow Saint Cyprian (September 16), that the pending Dormition Fast should be devoted to zealous prayers for mercy and repentance.

Clergy were sent to Vladimir, where the famed wonderworking Vladimir Icon was. After Divine Liturgy and a Molieben on the feast of the Dormition, they clergy took the icon and brought it to Moscow. Along the way, on both sides of the road, countless people prayed kneeling: “O Mother of God, save the land of Russia!” At that same hour, when the people of Moscow were meeting the Vladimir Icon on Kuchkov Field, Tamerlane was sleeping in his tent. Suddenly, he saw in a dream a great mountain, at the summit of which were the holy hierarchs with golden staffs coming towards him. Above them, in a brilliant radiance, was a Majestic Woman. She commanded him to leave the domains of Russia.

Awakening in fright, Tamerlane asked the meaning of the vision. The experts answered that the Radiant Lady was the Mother of God, the great Protectress of Christians. Tamerlane then gave the order for his troops to retreat. In memory of this miraculous deliverance of the Russian Land from Tamerlane, they built the monastery of the Meeting on Kuchkov Field, where the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon took place. On August 26, the all-Russian celebration in honor of the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God was established.

Very important events in Russian Church history have occurred before the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God: the election and elevation of Saint Jonah, advocate of an Autocephalous Russian Church (1448), and of Saint Job, first Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia (1589), and of His Holiness Patriarch Saint Tikhon (1917). The enthronement of His Holiness Pimen, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, occurred on a day of celebration in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God on May 21 (O.S.), 1971.

The historical days of 21 May, 23 June and 26 August, connected with this holy icon, have become memorable days for the Russian Orthodox Church.
