Some deep thoughts on Tsukasa's character.

Let's start from point zero.

Tsukasa is a kid born to two married couple, has an older twin brother, and lives his life with his mother and father and older twin brother.

The family formed from the 4 of them lived a good and calm life until the older twin became ill and had to stay in bed and his health was getting worse and worse until the twin were almost 4-year-old.

Naturally, as the older twin was in need for much more care, the parents spent more time in taking care of him, leaving Tsukasa alone most of the time to play around the house.

But, that doesn't mean the parents didn't take care of him as well, they did as shown with the way his mother hugs and talks to him that she loves him so much, both his parents were too caring in their 4th birthday. But, most of their care was targeted toward Amane, which is understandable.

And it looks like Tsukasa didn't pay much attention to that. he was behaving like a good kid and used to play happily around the house and search for things to cheer his twin up. He found a cat and used to play with it sometimes. Maybe he saw it as his friend and the one he can have to play with.

So, here we reach to 2 points. Tsukasa's family, was somehow neglectful toward him. It was... half justified, as a 4-year-old kid, he needed much more care than to leave him to play outside all alone, and chase after some dangerous animals like the snake he caught, and has a friend in a form of cat to spend his time with, without someone to look after him.

No one noticed anything Tsukasa was doing, they didn't even question from where he got all the toys and things for Amane. they just put them in a box and that's all. The parents were too focused on their ill child not to notice what was happing with their other kid. Him chasing after some dangerous animals, playing alone around the house, discovering some evil spirit under the house, bringing his twin a lot of things form an unknown source.

The second one is that Tsukasa was trying his best to live under these circumstances, trying to make his twin feel better, wishing for him to get better so they can play together again instead of him playing alone around the house, sometimes with a cat. He didn't seem to mind his parents being focused on his twin more, but… is that really the truth?

After that he accidentally heard the doctor telling his mother that his twin who he loves so much is going to die within a month. And he was shocked.

He tried telling his twin about the thing that grants wishes under their house but, his twin was too tired to listen to him and broke down in front of him, making Tsukasa take the decision to grant Amane's wish to get his health back which he said he doesn't need anything more than it.

So, his parents who pay more attention to his twin, his twin who doesn't want or need him and as he thinks hates him, wouldn't mind him disappearing or being gone, they will be happier. Amane can get his health back, achieve his dreams, his parents would be happy for Amane to be better again, and him? well, they don't care about him that much, so it's fine.

And with that, he accepted to be stuck forever in the red house, as no one would care about him. And they would be happier without him.

Now, what did this 4-year-old kid face in the red house?

The tragic fate of the ones who entered the house, various ways of them dying or committing subside before his eyes?

The sacrificed girls which were more similar to zombies than normal people? even Nene who is much more older than him was so scared when she saw them.

The supernaturals going here and there inside the weird house?

A 4-year-old kid saw all that, and looks like by the time Kou and Nene visited him he was used to all that.

And looks like he was feeling so lonely that he asked them to play, wanted Kou to hold his hand… maybe the crying kid they heard and caused them to enter the house, was Tsukasa crying?

What do we have so far? Tsukasa being alone in his home and in the red house. Nothing could be worse than that for a kid his age, right?

To Tsukasa, it doesn't matter to him that he is forever stuck in the red house if it means that his family is happy and doing fine without him. After all, they don't care about him. So, it's fine. He is fine. He doesn't mind, as long as they are happy and more importantly Amane is healthy, happy and achieving his dreams like he has always wanted. Him being stuck in the house is worth it.

Then, our boy Kou told him:

1/ Amane is going to die when he is 13. Meaning that his sacrifice was in vain. Amane won't achieve his dreams and is still going to die no matter what he did.

2/ Amane is going to kill him. wow, why? Why would Amane kill him and give up on all his dream and die as well even after he gave him the chance to be healthy again, to live and to achieve all his dreams like he has always wanted?

That caused him to be curious to know the answers to these questions. And it turned out that Tsukasa was just holding back, he can go home anytime he wants to, but he didn't because he didn't see a need for that. But, after the things Kou told him about the future, he changed his mind. He wanted to know how Amane would ruin everything and how was he going to kill him, calling him wired, because after he got everything he wanted, he ruined them himself. And with that, he decided to go back, taking the house spirit out with him, to see what was going to happen. The face Tsukasa showed Kou when he told him, was a shocked face, which is normal. No one would say such things to a kid Tsukasa's age. Kou tried to save him, but ended up setting up his misery.

Tsukasa's family was so worried about him and were happy to have him back, but soon after, his mother noticed he wasn't acting normal, thought he was possessed and took him to the shrine to get her "real" son back, shouted there that "that thing" is not her son.

Now let's see, a kid Tsukasa's age. What would he need the most? A loving and caring family?

All he got was a twin that was going to kill him some years after, who he thinks hates him, a mother claiming he is not her son and not treating him as one. As seen when she took him to the shrine, a mother who lost her son for more than half a year would pay attention to him while going outside, at least she should be holding his hand. But no. He was just grabbing her sleeve. And looks like he did that himself. Not only there, but in the family picture, Tsukasa was standing in the shadows in the back ground, like he is unwanted. The father had his hand on Amane, but the mother? Nothing. She had her hands on her lap. Looks like she doesn't even want to touch "that thing" at all. While Amane was holding his hand. And Tsukasa was smiling showing that it's fine with him. But I don't think it's the case. Tsukasa is just good at acting and hiding his feelings. Even when Kou told him the shocking news, he didn't show anything. if I were him, I would start crying or shouting at the spot. He showed them after he was alone. And he started laughing, his laughter was as if he was crying. He was crying and shattering inside.

About his father, I don't know. But maybe his care wasn't clear to Tsukasa as well.

So, a kid who sees that he is unwanted. And let's be specific here, Tsukasa who sees that he is unwanted, would like to stop caring and to pretend that it's fine like he had been doing all the time before. When Amane was sick, when he was stuck in the red house, and when his mother says he's not her son and stopped caring for him, when his twin is going to kill him. He is unwanted and it's fine. He doesn't care. he will just put on his fake smile all the time. And when you stick to a lie, it becomes reality.

And with that, Tsukasa grow up to be the one who doesn't care about a thing. The one who has a smile to hide his pain. The one he sees himself unwanted by anyone. Not even his family, the one he loves the most nor the other people around. I don't think anyone would try to get near Tsukasa. why? Just because he is different and scary? Well, I guess if anyone tried to see who he truly is, they would like to be around him, just like Sakura says.

He is not bad, he used to be good. But because of all that happened to the poor boy in his young life he became this way. And we still don't see all the pain he went through after that. I'm sure he went through much more pain up until Amane killed him.

His family (mother, twin and father), even if their neglect wasn't intentional, the shrine people who couldn't help him or pretended that they can't? the time he spent all alone in the red house while facing all kinds of terror, the house spirit, Kou, ….? Were all reasons for him to turn out this way.

If this boy has someone to take care of him proberly, he would show the good ,cute and caring side inside him.

I don't think it's a good idea to call a boy who had a bad life and was a traumatized kid a bad or evil boy. Because he's not. He is just acting according to all that happened to him in his life. And there is hope for him to return back to being good again, if he could finally have someone to open his eyes and teach him the right from the wrong. He doesn't differ between right and wrong. All he needs is some real care and love from someone. Not ones to keep telling him to go away, (No. 4, his twin, Natsuhiko,mother (who shows not wanting him around), …..) that he even believed it and came not to care anyomore. I'm unwanted? cool.

He can be fixed. He used to be good, he can become good again.

I'm praying for that person to be his twin.

I want to see him finally become happy and forget all the pain he went through in his life.

All that I can say is Tsukasa is a really well written character, he went through so much in his life just like his twin, and became the person he is now because of that, just like how Amane's personality changed to Hanako according to what happened to him in his life.
