I'm so mad I wrote this out the first time and got a good list but then tumblr crashed. But I'd absolutely LOVE to share some cause honestly they deserve shout outs. I don't actively watch any of them as much cause I don't actively watch youtube as much and also a lot of the "Asian youtube" activity has slowed down the past years as a lot of the "originals" have grown up and gotten more busy, so I'm not sure how active they are, but Im listing ones I can remember that were a good time anytime between currently all the way back to like 2007-2010

Not all of these are "Asian Youtube" in the sense that I consider that usually a corner of youtube at least partially made more towards / for Asian audiences first but also appeals to non-asians, but I really do think all of these guys deserve the shout out.

i finally met kevjumba, a person who has shaped my childhood through youtube. fun fact, i actually saw him at a temple and was really close to him but felt it was inappropriate to ask for anything because of how sacred the place is. when i saw him, i was so excited to meet him and get to understand his story.

and i wasn’t happy to meet him anymore. as i was standing in line for the meet and greet, i got a glimpse of his facial expression. it was sad, almost depressing. because of his traumatic event, he is in constant pain and it shows. his smile isn’t the same as those carefree, youthful youtube days but this realistic realization that the world is cruel.

even when i told him the snippet of how i wished i could have talked to him at the temple, he laughed but it was this soft, hurtful laugh. while it was pretty funny (i literally traveled halfway across the country to meet him even though we live in the same city), it felt disheartening. he was in so much pain.

idk where i was going with this. all i can say is that it was great getting to meet kevjumba but they’re human at the end of the day and they do go through traumatic experiences like normal human beings.
