To me the joy and beauty of vocal synthesizers has always been that they don't sound real and exploring that to create artistic expression that can't be achieved by human voices, so seeing them become more and more realistic is disheartening, almost? Especially since a lot of artists make the same voice banks sound so different and have their own personal charm. I'm glad that people will be able to make things that sound realistic, but I'm worried that songs that intentionally play out of sounding as realistic as possible will be sidelined, discouraged, no longer created, impossible to find, or unsupported by fans of vocal synthesizers. I don't want things to just push towards being as realistic as possible. There is beauty in how everyone's usage of the same voice banks sound different. There is beauty in the lack of realistic sounding vocals in vocal synthesizers.

My take on Gordon’s ex partner, his name’s Kell! ☂️

Quick info: (btw they never got married but) the reason to why they broke up wasn’t because of anything extremely toxic, but when Gordon had Josh they fought a lot (stress of MIT + unexpected kid) so Kell thought it was best they split and let Josh stay with Gordon.

After graduating they really left to do their own things but Kell still hops over to check on the two. Josh doesn’t exactly understand Kell is his other dad, so he never calls him so. But he gets gifts from him and stuff so he thinks he’s cool.

The two are still friends but it’s a bit bittersweet when their past is brought up.

I dropped everything on my to read list to get to the Fragile Threads of Power and lemme just say in no particular order,

- still obsessed with Kell/Lila and how fucking STUPID they are about each other, case in point: Kell trying to get them matching rings, Lila PANICKING about it, the two of them arguing, Kell stubbornly wearing his ring, Lila wearing hers as a necklace but not letting Kell know so he thinks it's likely she chucked it into the sea. Idiots in love. You both are so stupid (affectionate)!!!!!

- love Lila bullying Kell into getting good at using blades since he can't use magic without excruciating pain (don't talk to me, I hurt for him still)

- (I am also mildly obsessed with Kell having a whole new persona as Kay, both Kell and Lila give me such gender fluid feelings and this is not helping that situation, lmao)

- love how the narrative is like, Kell eventually got discouraged enough to give up on the hope of regaining his magic, but Lila still! Without telling him! Is looking for solutions and would have!!!!! Made another open ended deal!!!! With Maris!!!!!! When she HATES being in debt

- inability to communicate Feelings sometimes drives me up the fucking wall, but I am SAVED from this by Lila being unable to sleep until she finds the bed Kell is in and she just. Tucks herself in next to him.

I have MANY other feelings about stuff in this book and I'm a little over halfway through but I JUST. My babies are back and they are so GOOD.

What if I was created for the sole purpose of protecting and caring for you yet you were entirely unaware of my existence and likely want me to disappear and no matter how hard I try, protecting you will in fact only put you in more danger than you were in the first place and I'm incapable of doing anything about it because we share a body and we were both boys 😳🫣🏳️‍🌈👨‍❤️‍👨🌈🌈👬??????
