It's about a person proving their worth, and their love for their adoptive parent figure.
I love the character development of the main character: he goes from a scared boy, angry with the world, to someone willing to sacrifice himself for others.
Waltz with Bashir:
It's beautiful, it's devastating. It's a documentary told through storytelling.
So it looks like Waltz with Bashir is going to become a banned movie in the next few months because it showcases the collective dissociation isrealis have from their own brutality
Its not gorey but its probably one of the most shocking animated movies i've seen that isn't being edgy for edge sake

I just saw a listicle of "The 20 Best R-Rated Animated Movies of All Time" give the number 1 place to fucking SAUSAGE PARTY OF ALL THINGS. The movie that my friend, who has seen all sorts of disturbing horror films and wasn't fazed, told me she turned off at the finale because she couldn't watch it. It beat the likes of Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue, and Waltz With Bashir. I am violently enraged and disturbed and wish I could fire whoever wrote this garbage
