20 Questions More
This is a deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. Thanks to @casualsavant for the tag. I'm not even sure I did the first 20 Questions round, but rules be damned.
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship/fandom?
Well, like anything I write, I get ideas from everything around me - they come to me from dreams, something I see, from random prompts, etc. As most writers know, we are simply the vessel, it's the brain goblins that tell us what to do.
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good?
Geez, we have so many in the Supercorp/Supergirl fandom. I'm not even sure that's a fair question. HA. I will inevitably leave someone out, but here are a few of my favorites @searidings, @jazzfordshire, @chaotic-super, @lovesastateofmind1, @innamorament0, @someoneyouloved93, @lostariels, @luthordamnvers, @thornedrose44, and @fazedlight. I read such a variety of genres, tags, and tropes that I will give almost anything a chance so the authors I read will vary. There's oh so many to choose from in this fandom and the vast talent is beyond imagination!
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write?
Hmmm, I like writing Sam, Andrea, and Jack. The rest of the main cast is fun too, but those three characters are fun to explore in fics. The shenanigans they get into together makes it easy to play with.
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you'd never write about? Which ones?
Karamel, Lames, and Kalex. I am pretty open-minded, but those are my hard limit ships. To each their own. It's not my thing at all. I'm pretty open to tropes, too. Haven't had a chance to explore too many yet.
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?
I'm not sure how to answer this one, really. It can vary depending on what's going on in my life and how the idea came about.
Generally speaking, I get an idea, outline the basic premise of the story (usually in a word or google doc), do whatever research is needed (longer fics), and just start writing (or staring at the outline and empty doc). That's writing too, ask any writer. LOL
One shots tend to be more like: get idea, sit at desk thinking while blank doc stares back at me tauntingly, look out window, turn back to blank doc, write three sentences, back space all three sentences, look out window again, write three more sentences, repeat previous steps, then the brain goblins take over and suddenly it's 4 hours later, somehow there's several thousand words staring back at me.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process?
Because I am a huge nerd, the research. I love to research the things I write. Not all of my stories require it, but when they do, I dive right in. Completing the story is a big one too. The anxiety and excitement that comes with yeeting something into the ether is indescribable.
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic?
Weirdest thing...pagan rituals and ancient runes or bondage/fetish clubs in Amsterdam. There is some really interesting things out there. I learned a lot during that time.
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)?
I think tense is one that slips on me. I try to catch them all during rereads and edits, but those little bastards are sneaky.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why?
The panic attacks and abuse scenes relating to Lena in Carterhaugh-Wood Academy (CWA). Lena is my absolute favorite character and writing anything that causes her harm hurts my soul.
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely?
Is water wet? My characters always do what the brain goblins want despite my initial protest. I am just here to convey the message, after all.
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why?
Oh, hands down, Lena. I wouldn't pass up a chance to speak with any of them, let's be real, but Lena would be #1.
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing?
I am by nature a fluff and happy-ending writer. However, I am working on an angst with a happy ending fic at the moment. The tropes I have written so far have been limited to friends to lovers and a little light angst with happy ending. I'm still exploring other things. Hopefully 2024 will be the year I can flex my writing muscles and expand into new territory.
13) What's your most important resource as a writer?
Friends and other writers. Nothing beats a good brainstorming session with writer pals. I also like to do improv writing to boost creativity. You never know where a story will go when that happens.
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work?
The strategy depends on the story. For longer fics, I have a few writer friends that help with reading over it and helping with typos, grammar errors, and helping fluff up the places that need it. For one shots or shorter fics, I will let it sit for a bit, go back and read it again to do the editing and rewrite the places that my brain doesn't like.
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic?
Oooof, definitely the posting anxiety. I usually immediately find something else to do so I don't obsess over it.
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it?
Hits, kudos, and comments are always fun and rewarding, but I write for my own enjoyment and sanity. I have plenty of fics that barely get any love, but I enjoy writing them. It's therapeutic for me. The rest is just noise. Also, like any writer, I love to hear from readers and try to respond to all my comments because they mean a lot to me.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character/ship?
Sometimes, yes. It depends on what I am writing and how I am feeling. Most of the time it is instrumental piano and/or cello music because I will start accidentally typing the lyrics of a regular playlist. If I am going for a specific vibe or writing because of a specific song, I will have the song on repeat or at least an album by the artist.
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it?
SCBB delivered that on a platter for me. CWA got art from the multi-talented @bigmammallama5. If you haven't seen it, you can check it out here.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have?
13 total with another one that is in the planning stages.
20) What's your advice to new fanfic writers?
Write for yourself. If you love it, it brings you enjoyment, and adds to your life, continue doing it. You're not going to please everyone and there will be people who are less than kind about something you publish. Those voices don't matter. There is someone out there that has read or will read your work and it will stick with them for the rest of their lives. Always do it for you.

P.S.: Before leaving you to the reading I wanna recommend you the three songs that I listened to while writing. Just choose the one that inspires you the most as a soundtrack, and if you're curious enough, in the future you can read this again while listening to another one! Sorry for the interruption! Bye! <3
That day? It was a shitty day. You couldn't help but feel tired and depressed at the end of it. You were angry at yourself, because the only thing you did was trying to find any possible excuse to stop whatever you were doing. In one word?
Procrastination.
And that shit? It was your biggest enemy.
It wasn't making you feel just furious, but also scared. You were scared of falling back again into that bottomless hole. That cold, deep, dark hole. And sometimes, when a specific habit that you had during that extremely bad period returned, a knot started to form in your stomach, and anxiety started to run through your veins and entire body. When one of those damn habits was coming back, the same extremely frightening gut feeling was coming back too.
You closed your eyes shut; the urge to cry was too strong. You put your right hand on the table in front of you and covered your mouth with the left one, in order to be as much silent as possible, while crouching on the floor at the same time.
Now, in your head, you were standing in front of that mirror again. The same exact mirror that you used to imagine whenever you felt like crap; the same exact mirror in which you always saw yourself from the past.
"No, I don't want to see you again.."
"I don't wanna be you anymore!"
"I am a better person now..."
"Stay away from me!"
"Please..."
"I. AM. HAPPY."
Who knows, maybe a few times it had really made you feel better, or maybe you were simply trying to convince yourself of that, since you had always created a whole fake scenario with your mind just because you were a coward and didn't have the courage to do it in real life. You stood up and walked to the living room. Your boyfriend, Sebastian, was quietly reading a book, sitting on the couch.
"Sweetheart! Can't sleep huh-"
You didn't let him the time to finish the sentence nor to look up at you, because you immediately sat on his lap and weakly hugged him.
"Babe..."
He put the book aside and placed one hand on your back and the other on your shoulder. You buried your face in his chest, and as a respons, he tightened the grip on your body. You did the same.
"It's okay doll, I'm here with you"
He kissed you on the head and then gently leaned on it with his chin. At the contact, you broke out.  But those weren't tears of sadness; no, on the contrary, they were tears of joy.
Yeah, just that.
Pure joy.
You were so grateful to him, because even if he didn't know anything about how you were feeling, even if you didn't say a single word, even if you interrupted his activity, his little moment of peace...he didn't hesitate to cuddle you. He didn't hesitate to make you feel safe, protected, to make you feel...simply loved.
You sobbed. "I love you!" you said with a quite frustrated tone.
"Aww sweetheart" he chuckled and started to gently stroke your hair and back as he began to rock slowly, like when you have to cradle a newborn baby. "I love you too". His tone was sweet, calm, reassuring. "So, tell me. Did something happen?"
"No.."
"Are you feeling blue?"
"More like of a pitch black actually"
He pouted "No, doll, why?"
"I would like to know that too..."
He laughed "it's okay angel. It is completely normal to feel like that sometimes..." he cupped your face with his hands and forced you to look at him while drying your tears with his thumbs "but I don't think you're telling me the truth in this moment, hm?"
You didn't answer.
"Come on love, tell your amazing and incredible boyfriend what really happened".
That statement made you chuckle. "Ooh, look at that! My lovely girlfriend smiling! This is what I live for" he smiled back and kissed you on the tip of your nose. Then, he continued: "AAH, oh my GOD! Now I understand what people mean when they talk about 'cute aggression'. You are just SO, INCREDIBLY, CUTE! The only thing I wanna do is LITERALLY shower you with kisses!". And as he said that, he really started to "aggressively" kiss you all over your face and body.
"GOD NO! BABY PLEASE!" you burst out laughing "IT TICKLES!". Wriggling in a vain attempt to free yourself, you lost your balance and fell backwards to the ground, dragging him with you. "FUCK- honey are you ok??"
"No, I'm not..." worried, you immediately turned to him "becAUSE I WASN'T DONE YET!". He quickly climbed on top of you and started to tickle you again.
"NO SEBASTIAN, PLEASE, I'M BEGGING YOU" you were literally crying with laughter. "I- I GIVE UP- I GIVE UP!". He stopped immediately.
"What did you say?"
"I give up!" you answered breathless.
"Perfect". With the proudest expression you had ever seen and a quite hot smirk, he stood up and offered you his hand to help you, almost like a real knight who has to help a small, poor defenseless damsel to get on his white horse.
"Are you feeling a little better now?"
"Yes, thank you"
He quickly kissed you on the lips and went to the kitchen to grab your favorite mug. "Ok doll, please, sit on the couch and try to tell me what happened. In the mean time I'll make you some hot tea". He was so thoughtful, caring. For a split second you felt your heart skipping a beat. For the very first time, you thought that if one day he would have left you, you would have probably died. He was the one and only man you wanted by your side for the rest of your days.
"Well, I don't think that you remember this, but...at the beginning, when we had started dating, I told you about that- dark period I had been through years ago"
"Yes, of course I do remember...it is..happening again?"
"Nonono! Thank god no! I swear honey, I'm ok, don't worry. It's just..." as you were trying to find the words to continue your speech, he sat on the couch with two steaming mugs in hands "sometimes I'm scared it can happen again". You shyly looked at him to check what kind of reaction he might have had, but before he could even try to open his mouth, you proceeded: "I- I know it seems ridiculous! I know that, but I always have this...this extremely strong and- heavy feeling...I simply can't help it".
He put the mugs on the small table at the side of the couch, where he left the book he was reading before. "Y/n, now listen carefully to what I'm about to say" he grabbed your hands and stared right into your gorgeous eyes "you have to fear nothing with me by your side. Absolutely nothing" he paused for a second. "You see, babe, sometimes...life simply sucks. It doesn't matter who you are. If you're rich, poor, young, old. It doesn't even matter if you always had to fight or not. I guess you're probably thinking: 'but this is not fair', and you're right. You're absolutely right, it's unfair, but unfortunately we can't do anything about it" he lowered his gaze, looking at the floor. "I understand how you're feeling, trust me, I've been there too...many times actually". You put your hand on his left cheek and caressed him; at the touch, he automatically raised his brows and his eyes got shiny with tears. He looked at you and forced a smile before clearing his throat. "But I am a lot better now. Why? Because I always kept going on, and that is something you MUST do, every single time. I'm awfully sorry to tell you this baby, I know that in some cases knowing the truth might be..unpleasant, and I know that I'm supposed to make you feel better in situations like this but...in life you'll feel like giving up a lot of times. Of course I hope the opposite, you should know that I just wish the best for you, but I think that being aware of the thing will make it...a bit easier" you cupped his face and kissed him on the forehead. "In any case, as I told you before, you don't have to fear anything, because I am, and will always be ready to back you up! No matter what". You gave him one of your purest and most dazzling smiles and hugged him.
"Thank you Sebastian. I-" you sobbed, and as you felt tears forming in your eyes, you hid your face in the crook of his neck "I love you with all my heart and soul...I really mean it" you whispered. With your right hand on his chest, you felt his heartbeat increasing.
He kissed you on the head and finally said: "I...I really love you too, sweetheart. And I always will"

Hey, how are you? I am a bit confused, I keep noticing on twitter people talking that Mon-El was supposed to be in the finale way more than he ended up being which was due to the trend the fans made. Is that like officially confirmed? Do we know how much more there was to be of him or what kind of scenes he was supposed to be in? Thank you.
Hi! I’m good, thank you. Ditto.
Well, there's no way to know for sure. Alas, based on many factors and certain evidence, here's a theory...
I personally don't think he was ever meant to have a large role in the finale simply because, well -- he's just not that important of a character to the show, lol. Despite what the few pockets of remaining fans who do like the show's cringey version of the character may feel or believe, he was sent packing ages ago for a reason, and the awful way they used the character and bad messaging it sent nearly destroyed the show and wasted its prime years. And clearly most media and critics agree, since very few outlets write about him the last four years at all, and when they do it's usually very negative and unflattering, especially when compared to how they write so often and so universally positively about Lena, for example.
So I really tend to believe, much like with the 100th -- though more limited, given how much stuff needed to be crammed into the series finale -- that he was probably always meant to just have a small cameo (I even said ahead of time that his role in the finale was likely to be small, and was proven right), simply for nostalgia. I can also tell you that one of the limited "scoops" I'd heard early on in S6 was that as of early/mid season there was no talk of his return bts, no indication he was coming back that most people bts knew of anyway, and the showrunners even effectively confirmed as much by saying around that same time, "We know how it ends, he's likely not a part of it." (paraphrased). Also important to keep in mind that up to that point, Benoist had said she liked how they planned to end the series. So the belief by some that she possibly requested he be there as endgame or whatever simply doesn’t track. He clearly wasn’t in the early S6 plans to be involved in the end, and she seemed totally fine with that.
But then something shifted late season, and they seemingly decided relatively last minute (?) to bring him back for a cameo, and/or must have realized the creative direction they were going in the finale made room for his (and Winn's) returns.
That being said, do I think the worldwide anti-Mon-El trend possibly lead to the already small role being reduced even further on the fly for damage control due to the backlash from fans when they realized such a polarizing character was back again? Honestly, kinda yeah.
And hey, maybe that's not accurate, but it seems very plausible. In part because it was a tad interesting how Winn and James were there for the battle, funeral and wedding while he wasn't there for the wedding. And because it seemed based on bts footage that there were more scenes and/or dialogue involving him and the group in that final battle, yet it didn’t make the cut. Also because it seems based on bts pics as well vs the final airing that they possibly shot the funeral scene twice -- and what aired was him saying he had to leave, which makes you wonder if an alternate version had someone inviting him to the wedding. There was even a composer who indicated on Twitter that he was working on the Karamel-related score or something (didn't know they even had one, lol) but we never saw anything epic of them fighting together in battle for more than a blink, nor having a moment at the wedding obviously, nor anything that would warrant any kind of a special 'theme' for them (unlike what Supercorp had in the 100th).
And lastly, it seems interesting how much they really went out of their way to bury that ship forever the way they did, after the trend. As if to say "OKAY, WE HEAR YOU" (finally). They could have had him simply say he's gotta return back to the future and they leave it sorta open ended and upbeat, but they really just had him say with finality "I'll never be back." to kill all potential for that ship forever, and they had Kara barely be phased by it at all and never look back, and that was that, and he was gone easily, and forever. Meanwhile Winn and James were at the wedding and the focus for Kara was on her identity issues (aka the big coming out metaphor) and sharing her final/key moments with Lena and her family/friends, as happy as ever.
TLDR: I think his role was never meant to be that big in the finale either way, but it likely could have been chopped down even further after that trend, especially because they didn't even feature him in the trailer except as a tiny blip in the funeral background. They clearly (finally) realized that his presence was doing more harm than good, and decided to not only not really market it much ahead of time, but also possibly cut it down in filming and editing as well.

Karamell Almondo
After a rather unsatisfying lunch (in the previous post), we decided to have a little dessert snackage, and we saw this ice-cream parlour stand which was interesting. Looks pretty new and cool too, so we gave this place: Karamell Almondo a shot
Tumblr media
Location: 4th floor, Palm Square, Centrepoint, just near the stairs/escalator and opposite the McDonald ice-cream stand
Tumblr media
Setting: High class-ish ice cream stand that reminds me of more of a Starbucks or Coffee Bean booth
Tumblr media
Atmosphere: 7.5/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Design: 7.5/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Food: Kinda forgot their names, but I think my hubby got the in-house karamell almondo ice-cream, while I got the special one that comes with Ferroro Roche, waffles and wafers
Presentation: 8/10
Taste: 8.5/10 (sweet, flavourful and icy cold all at the right places)
It was also surprising that my ex-schoolmate from high school is working there as well! I'm so thrilled to meet her, even though technically I don't really remember her name, only her face ^^;; But still, it was a pretty good reunion, and maybe I should've taken a picture too with her, but what the hey, I might meet her again.
In the meantime, this ice cream parlour stand is absolutely something that you must give it a try. The taste is good and worth the money, and it's chilly and yummy at every bite

((I come in peace don't attack me please!! *desperately waves a white flag before I start to talk*))
Unpopular take but, as a hardcore Supercorp shipper, I still really like how Kara and Mon El's relationship developed in late season 03. I like that his early behavior was addressed on screen, that he grew up, that the feelings they had for each other were complex and they worked through them like adults. To me, Supercorp is endgame, there's no doubt about it. Lena is the one that always goes the extra mile for Kara, the one who helps her grow into a better person, who's there for her always and who always cares. And, at the end of the last season, she's Kara's best match, I think we can all agree on that. Yet, I think that what Mon El and Kara felt for each other was real and sweet, and they're two objectively handsome people who look really good together. While I've seen that their shippers can be a little... aggressive (but so can we Supercorp shippers, at times), I like to think they were both great ships. A ship doesn't have to be endgame to be a good one, and while season 02's Mon-El gave me goosebumps for how self entitled and arrogant he was, his growth made him a very enjoyable character, in my opinion. And I also think that the period of time in which he was back coincided with the lowest point in Supercorp's romantic feelings for each other, so it all kind of fits – what Kara asked James to do wasn't fair; she and Lena essentially only talked once a week or so, except for the strained Luthor-Super business partnership (that still gave us gems such as "I don't think about you while I'm doing it >:(" ); Lena was seeking romance elsewhere (sort of, now that was a relationship that really lacked chemistry!). So, it kind of makes sense to me as a fan, to support whatever relationship seems to genuinely make my favourite characters happy in that moment, even if I know that it's not going to last, and that the future will bring them better shots at true love.
I don't know what I'm trying to say with this, other than that, having skipped season three to avoid witnessing the Lena/James flirt, my opinions on Karamel were only based on what I'd heard from the Supercorp fandom, and season 02 seemed to confirm it. But!! They're both cute ships!! It's just my opinion, and people can not share it – also, being quite new in the fandom (~1 year), there may be some old beef I don't know about –, but like many people ship both Rojascorp/Reigncorp and Supercorp, the same can happen even if one of the ships is not wlw! A het ship won't invalidate the queer one!

Explanation: Now in the clutches of Hondo Ohnaka and his pirate crew, Kimber must figure out a way to escape and get a signal out to her squad, who are trying desperately to find her.
Tumblr media
Hunter, Crosshair and Wrecker were running speedily over the mountain and towards Aldera. They had gotten a call from Echo telling all of them to get to the city as soon as possible and that there was an emergency, but he neglected to tell them what it was. That immediately set them on edge and they wanted to get there as quickly as possible.
As they ran into the city, they spotted Echo and Tech waiting for them and made their way over. Hunter immediately noticed that Kimber wasn't with them.
"What's the emergency? And where's Kimber?" he inquired.
"Kimber is the emergency," Tech answered him.
"She's gone missing," added Echo.
"What?!" the other three all cried in unison.
Crosshair stepped forward. "You were literally gone for half an hour. How did you lose her so quickly?" he said calmly, but still with an icy undertone to his voice.
"We were close to the university when Kimber said she wanted to check something out and would catch up with us," Echo answered.
"You let her go alone?" Hunter asked in disbelief.
Echo shot him a glare and snapped back, "She is a grown woman who can handle herself, Hunter, and I trusted her to be all right on her own! Maybe you should, too!"
Hunter glared back at him and Wrecker then asked, "So what happened then?"
Tech responded, "Once we realized she had been gone for some time, Echo tried her on comms, but there was no response and we discovered her signal had been deactivated. We checked the security cameras, found she went into an alley, but the cameras in that area had been disabled. I searched through every camera in the city in the entire time frame we've been here and found no sign of her anywhere."
The other three gawked at him in shock and unbelief.
"She just...disappeared?" questioned Crosshair.
"Unfortunately, it would appear so," Tech replied.
Echo turned back to Hunter and informed him, "That's where we need you, Hunter. We need you to see if you can track her and figure out where she went."
Hunter hadn't noticed until that moment that his fists were clenched tightly with anxiety over Kimber disappearing. Hearing Echo ask him to track her made him tense up briefly, but then he released a breath and calmed down, realizing that being angry at Echo or at the situation wasn't going to help Kimber. They needed him to help potentially figure out what had happened to her and that's what mattered. His love was missing and his primary focus now was finding her.
Letting out a shaky sigh, he then said to Echo and Tech, "All right. Take us to the alley."
The other two gave him a nod and sped off in the direction of the alleyway with the three others following them. They ducked in between people in the crowd until they got into the alley.
"We saw her come into here and then this is where her trail was lost," Tech explained to Hunter.
With that, Hunter crouched down and set his hand on the ground, reaching out with his heightened senses to find Kimber's presence. He even fiddled with a small pile of dust, feeling for any sign of her...but there was nothing. That couldn't be right. He focused even harder, knowing that he should recognize her electromagnetic pull anywhere. She had to be here. She had to be...but he couldn't sense anything.
"No...!" he gasped, dropping to his knees. This couldn't be...not Kimber....
The others noticed his actions and they froze in anticipation.
"What is it?" asked Tech.
"I...I can't feel her," Hunter told him, his voice trembling as his heart fell.
"What do you mean?" Wrecker questioned.
Hunter shook his head, his body going numb. "I can't sense her. She's...gone."
"Then...I fear the worst may have happened," then stated Tech, a slight tremor in his own voice.
Wrecker shook his head and angrily cried out, "No...no! She can't be dead! She can't be gone! There's no way!"
"I can't sense her anywhere, Wrecker! How else would you explain that?" Hunter blurted out as he jumped back up to his feet.
"We don't know for sure if she's dead," Echo told them, trying to keep a brave face despite the fear in his eyes. "There's no proof of that. There aren't any blaster marks anywhere. We can't give up yet."
While everyone else stood around in fear and doubt, Crosshair stepped up and around to Hunter's side, eyeing the ground carefully. He refused to believe that Kimber was dead, not until there was definitive evidence of anything. She had to be alive and there had to be something there that would help them determine what had happened to her. Then, with his keen eyesight, he noticed some markings in the pavement. When he examined them closely, he noted that they appeared to be recently made.
Pointing to them, he stated, "Those look like fresh scuff marks from a cart of some kind." Then he had a thought and he then looked to Tech. "Was there anyone who came this way with one?"
Tech pushed up his goggles and answered, "If I remember correctly, I do believe there was." He tapped something out on his datapad and then said, "Indeed, there were some men pushing a dolley with some crates into this alleyway just shortly before Kimber came this way."
"Check the cameras again. Do they come back out anywhere?" Crosshair then inquired.
Tech started tapping away rapidly on his datapad pad once more and then declared, "The cart of crates does, but in the hands of different men. Weequay, this time, and they are usually mercenaries or bounty hunters."
"If that's the case, she might have come across a trade-off of sorts." Crosshair turned to Hunter. "What if there's a chance she was taken off planet and that's why you can't sense her?"
Hunter, for a moment, didn't say anything and gave him a look of uncertainty.
"Kimber came into this alley and didn't come back out on the security cameras, but those crates do with someone else," Echo reaffirmed. "She must have stumbled upon a secret deal she wasn't supposed to--"
"And those Weequay must have taken her!" Wrecker finished for him, realizing what he was getting at.
"It's the only lead we have, Hunter," said Crosshair. "Wouldn't you rather follow that than believing she's dead?"
A flicker of hope sparked within Hunter at what his brothers were saying. If there was a chance that was what had happened and Kimber was possibly still alive, then they had to take it.
"You're right," he stated. Turning to Tech, he instructed, "Check the security footage and see what you can find on those Weequay."
Tech gave him a nod and returned to his datapad.
Despite their new lead, Hunter still felt anxious, hoping this was the right thing to do in order to find Kimber, and it showed on his face as he hung his head, closed his eyes and sighed with worry. This did not escape Crosshair's attention. He went up to Hunter and laid a hand on his shoulder, prompting the Sergeant to look at him.
Crosshair looked him intently in the eyes. "We'll find her," he promised firmly to help ease his anxiety.
Wordlessly, Hunter nodded. He wanted to believe Crosshair and he did, but there was still that small part of him deep down that feared they were still wrong. Then he heard Echo say his name and, when he looked his way, saw Echo gesture to him with his head to go over to him. Hunter walked away from Crosshair and over to Echo, who was standing by a far wall.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you. That was wrong of me," Echo apologized to him. Then his eyes emanated sadness and he looked away, his face riddled with guilt. "I should've gone with her. Then none of this would've happened."
"No, Echo, you were right," Hunter countered calmly. When Echo looked at him again, he went on, "Kimber isn't helpless. We've trained her to handle herself in dangerous situations and I need to trust her more with that. She and I have fought before on this...and right now, we both need to trust that, wherever she is, she's doing what she can to stay alive." Then he laid a hand on Echo's shoulder. "Besides...if it's true that she's been taken, then you would've been taken, too."
"I just don't understand how this all went wrong so fast," Echo said back.
Hunter removed his hand and sighed, understanding what Echo was feeling. "I know...but that doesn't matter now. What matters is finding her. If she's still alive, then I know she'll find a way back to us or get a signal out to us of where she is."
The two of them shared a glance, knowing they both had to stay strong. Even though they were afraid that something terrible had happened to Kimber, they had to keep moving forward for her sake if they were going to have any chance of finding her again.
"Hunter, Echo! Tech says he's got something!" they then heard Wrecker call out to them.
With a nod of understanding between them, Echo and Hunter rushed over to the rest of their squad, hoping that whatever Tech found would help lead them to their missing squadmate.

Kimber sat across from Hondo Ohnaka, feeling cautious yet curious about him. He was a pirate Captain and had a serious demeanor, yet he also had an undeniable charisma about him that was strangely entertaining.
"Would you care to partake in a friendly drink with me?" he asked, swiveling his chair around to the opposite side.
Unamused, she pursed her lips, her expression saying, "Seriously?", and raised up her bound hands in front of her face.
"Ah, yes, of course. Where are my manners?" he stated, realizing what she was indicating. He stood up and pulled out a switch from his pocket. With his thumb hovering over the button, he said to her, "I value honesty and trust in a friendship...so I am going to release you and trust that you're not going to try and escape." Then he pressed the button and the binders fell from her wrists, clattering to the floor.
Once that was done, he leaned in closer to her and his voice darkened as he then warned her, "Do not break my trust."
In addition to that, his Kowakian monkey-lizard on his shoulder chirped and hissed at her
Her throat tightened slightly in reaction to his statement before she responded, "Whatever you say, Captain."
"Good!" he exclaimed, his cheerful demeanor returning. Then he turned his back on her, walked over to a large panel on a far wall and pressed a button on a control console, opening the panel. Inside, she could see numerous different kinds of bottles inside a cupboard in the wall.
He looked back at Kimber and asked jovially, "What will you take? Spotchka? Correllian whiskey? Lothal spicebrew or Takodana Quencher? Maybe a little Breath of Heaven?"
"You really have all of those different drinks?" she asked in suspicious disbelief.
"Oh, absolutely," he replied. Then he lowered his voice slightly. "Just don't ask how I acquired them all."
Kimber figured that Hondo had to have gotten a lot of the alcohol through questionable means--most likely stealing--because she knew some of them were expensive. That one statement from him confirmed that suspicion entirely.
"Takodana Quencher," she requested.
Hondo nodded at her and pulled out a brown pitcher and two wooden cups.
"Wait!" she then cried. When he turned back to her, she told him sternly, "I want to see you pour it."
He gave her a curious look as he proceeded to pour a bright green liquid into the cups. "My dear, I am insulted that you think I would try to poison you. As I already told you, I would not kill a defenseless woman." His voice lowered again. "Besides, if I wanted you dead...I would have had you taken care of already." He then handed her one of the cups with a grin on his face.
With a frown, she took the cup and replied flatly, "That's encouraging."
Hondo took his cup and held it out in front of him. "To new friends," he toasted.
She tapped the edge of her cup against his, but didn't say a word before taking a sip of her drink as he did the same.
"So tell me, little tooka:" Hondo then said, sitting down in his seat and propping his feet up on the dash beside it, "how does a woman like you find herself in a squad of Clones? Enlighten me on that peculiar situation."
"Enlighten me, Hondo. What are you planning to do on Mon Gazza?" she asked back.
He took a sip of his drink and groaned, "I'm afraid that is classified information."
"Then so is mine," she retorted. "Trust goes both ways, Captain. You can't expect me to trust you if you're not willing to divulge as much information as you're asking of me."
Hondo chuckled lightly and twirled his drink around in amusement. "Ah, you are a clever one," he complimented her. "You make a fair point."
Though as he prepared to share the information she wanted, the door to the chamber opened and one of the Weequay men stepped in, saying, "Captain, they're hailing us."
"Ah, of course," Hondo stated. He threw back the remainder of his drink in one swig, set the cup down and then looked at Kimber as he stood up. "Forgive me, my dear, but business calls right now. Do not go anywhere!" he said in a boisterous tone.
She rolled her eyes. "We're in the middle of hyperspace. There's not exactly anywhere for me to go," she replied, taking another sip.
Surprisingly, Hondo laughed out loud. "Oh, you have a sharp tongue! I like you!" he exclaimed, pointing at her before turning his back on her and following the other Weequay out of the room, the Kowakian monkey-lizard squawking at her on the way out.
"What a strange man...," Kimber thought to herself.
Though, now that he was gone, she had to figure out what happened to her belongings. In that moment, she happened to remember Hunter's necklace. Had they taken that, too? She reached up to the side of her neck and right away, she felt the cord was still around her neck and the credit was still resting against her chest under her armor. A huge sigh of relief escaped her. She didn't know what she would do if she'd lost her necklace. With that reassurance in mind, she had to figure out where her weapons and her commlink were. If she had to blast her way out once they landed on Mon Gazza, she would. She was not about to stay a prisoner on a pirate vessel, no matter how much Hondo wanted to spout about honor and trust.
She set her drink down and moved quickly over to the control console on the far wall. There were multiple panels and multiple controls. Maybe in one of them, there was a weapon she could use or something. She pressed one of the buttons on the console and a panel just above her head slid open. However, it was empty. She closed that panel and then pressed another one. Another panel to the top right of her opened and she just saw some folded clothes.
"Come on...!" she groaned, closing that one, as well. There was no knowing how long it would be before Hondo came back.
She hit another button and the panel directly to her left opened up. Inside, she found her weapons; her blasters, her disassembled sniper rifle and her commlink. Next to her belongings were a couple of distress beacons.
"Wow...you're really not good at hiding things, Hondo," she commented aloud.
Right then, Kimber heard Hondo just outside the door to the room and she had to act quick. She swiped her commlink and one of the beacons in one hand and then grabbed one of her blasters before slamming her elbow onto the button to close the panel. She then practically leapt back to her seat and slipped her blaster into the holster where Hondo wouldn't see. Then she switched on her commlink and also activated the distress beacon before slipping both of them into a pouch on her belt. Her boys would surely see her comm signal was activated, but more than likely, they were still on Alderaan and wouldn’t be able to get to her in time. If there was a chance that someone else in a nearby system would pick up the distress beacon signal and could come to her aid before them, then it was a chance she was willing to take.
Hondo then waltzed into the room, seeming rather chipper, and he informed her as he laid eyes on her, “Good news, my dear: we will be landing on Mon Gazza shortly.”
She grinned at him. “Good,” she replied before her grin disappeared and she aimed her blaster at him.
To her surprise, he didn’t even flinch at seeing her suddenly pulling a blaster on him. He just stood in place and heaved a heavy, dejected sigh.
“And here I thought we were starting to have an understanding,” he told her, disappointed.
Kimber’s expression hardened and she snapped back, keeping her blaster steady, “Here’s something for you to understand about me, Hondo: I have already been a prisoner once, held captive by creatures far worse than you. I am not letting that happen again…not when I have the strength to fight back.” She took a couple steps forward and told him firmly, “Now, when we land on the planet, you’re going to let me go or I will blast my way out of here and I don’t care if you’re in my way.”
“You’re making a mistake creating an enemy out of me,” he warned her, his eyes narrowing under his goggles.
“No…you made the mistake by smuggling illegal spice from Alderaan and getting caught,” she responded.
“I’m a pirate, my dear. It’s kind of what I do,” he said as a matter of factly.
“And I’m a Republic soldier,” she said back. “Stopping people like you is what I do.”
Hondo glared at her for a moment and she maintained eye contact, showing she wasn’t about to back down from him. He might’ve been charming, but he was still a pirate and her captor. No amount of charisma from him was going to change that.
“I’m sorry it came to this, little tooka,” he then said to her before he suddenly whipped out a pistol and fired at her.

Back on Alderaan, the Clones of the Bad Batch had followed a lead Tech thought he had found on the security footage. He had followed the trail of the Weequay men who ended up at the spaceport. They saw them board a saucer-shaped ship; a Corona-class armed frigate. They had gone to the spaceport to find out more information on those men and even the ship, but to their dismay, the ship’s signature hadn’t been scanned and there was no way for them to track the ship. They searched through the city for a couple of hours, but there was no other information they could glean. It was a dead end.
Despite that, Tech was confident that he could figure out whose ship it was, but he needed to use the computer systems back at the Marauder. With that in mind, they decided to head back to their ship. They tried keeping their spirits up about Kimber, but there was still a part of them that feared the worst had happened. What if they still couldn’t find anything on the Weequay? What would they do then? That was the only remote lead they had. If this led to nothing…then they’d have no way of figuring out what happened to Kimber.
Echo was in the lowest of spirits. Despite Hunter telling him not to blame himself for what happened, he still did. If he had just gone with Kimber when she said she wanted to check something out, then maybe everything could’ve been prevented. He could’ve protected her and kept her safe. Hunter had said to him that he could’ve been captured, too, but Echo wouldn’t have cared. He would still be at Kimber’s side and that was the only thing that would have mattered. Instead, he had let her go off on her own and now she was gone. Deep down, he trusted that she would be okay handling herself, but his fears of the opposite outcome were slowly overcoming him. He couldn’t lose his best friend…not like this.
They got to the Marauder and they each walked on board…only to hear a beeping sound coming from the cockpit.
“What’s with the beeping?” asked Wrecker as they got inside and all looked curiously towards the front of the ship.
Tech went into the cockpit and pressed one of the controls. Then he stated, "It's Kimber's comm signal. It's active again."
The other four Clones’ heads all perked up immediately.
“Kimber?” Echo repeated almost in shock.
“Where is she?” Hunter asked, rushing to the front.
Wrecker, Echo and Crosshair followed him into the cabin of the ship, where Tech was looking at the console to determine the source of Kimber’s distress signal.
“I knew our girl would find a way to signal us,” Crosshair declared.
Then Tech informed them, “It would appear she is nearing the planet of Mon Gazza in the Correlian Run.”
“That’s almost clear across the galaxy,” Wrecker proclaimed.
"And in Separatist space," added Tech.
"That doesn't matter. We now know where she is," said Echo. "We need to go after her."
Hunter nodded to him in agreement. Turning to Tech, he ordered, "Lock onto her signal, Tech, so we don't lose it. Time is against us."
"We have to get Kimber back," added Wrecker.
Without a word, Tech jumped into the pilot's seat and powered up the ship, its engines coming to life with a dull roar. Echo got into the seat opposite him and Wrecker sat down in one of the back seats. However, Hunter and Crosshair elected to stand. Before long, they passed through Alderaan's atmosphere and into space.
Tech locked the coordinates into the ship's computer system and stated, "Ready for lightspeed, Sarge."
"Let's bring her home," said Crosshair to Hunter, his voice a touch softer than normal.
Hunter gave him a nod, his confidence seemingly returning. Then he turned back and looked to the stars before them.
"We're coming for you, sweetheart. Just hang on a little longer...and stay alive," he thought to himself.
Now filled with determination to find his lost love, he replied to Tech, "Make the jump."

Kimber cried out in pain and instinctively dropped her blaster as Hondo’s pistol bolt hit her in the upper arm. Her arm burned white hot from the wound and she clutched at her arm, sucking in through her teeth and groaning in pain. Hondo had been too quick for her; she had failed in her attempt to subdue him. Now that she had been thwarted, he came over, pushed her back into her chair, took her wrists and locked her hands back in the binders. Kimber grimaced to herself as she now found herself back at square one. After that, he confiscated her blaster. Luckily, her comm and the distress beacon remained unfound in her belt pouch. Strangely, though, after putting her back in the binders, he called for one of his men to bring some bacta gel and bandages for her wound.
“You’re oddly generous for someone who just shot me,” she said to Hondo through gritted teeth, trying to endure the pain as the other Weequay was patching her up.
“You forced my hand, my dear,” he replied, “and you know, my plan was to just keep you here during the auction and then I was going to release you, but alas, you betrayed my trust.”
“Auction?” she questioned.
With a nod, he explained, “We are going to a black market auction where we intend to sell weapons and contraband for a very profitable amount of spice.”
In that moment, the pieces of the puzzle that was Hondo Ohnaka all came together in Kimber’s mind. Now, she understood why his planet of choice was Mon Gazza. She remembered that the planet was home to one of the biggest spice mines in the galaxy and was second in spice production after the planet, Kessel. It was also a notorious shadowport for smuggling activity since it was a part of Separatist space.
"Thank you, Tech," she thought proudly to herself, grateful that she’d had him educate her on some other planetary systems and that this one happened to be one of them.
She then grunted in pain as the other Weequay tightly tied the bandage around her arm and she was fairly certain he did it roughly on purpose. “So what are you going to do with me then?” she asked.
As Hondo brought a hand up to his chin contemplatively, the Weequay came to stand beside him and said in a nasally voice, “She could fetch a good price at the auction, Captain.”
Kimber watched Hondo for his reaction to such a ridiculous notion…and her body went cold as he saw him smile connivingly.
“You cannot be serious,” she said, shocked, in reply.
The pirate Captain looked down at her and said, flourishing his hand, “While I am a man of honor, my dear, I am also a man of profit…and right now, I value profit more.”
“You can’t do this, Hondo!” she shot back, glaring at him. “My squad will find me and rescue me before you can do anything to me.”
Hondo gave her a look that showed he didn’t believe her. “We told you: your comm signal has been turned off. They have no way of tracking you.”
In response, Kimber simply chuckled in amusement. “You don’t know my boys, Captain,” she told him with a devious grin. Then she saw an opportunity to try and intimidate him in regards to her Clones, so she went on, “They’re an elite squad of Clones; the best of the best in the entire galaxy. They can track me even without my comm signal.” Her grin widened and she narrowed her eyes, giving him a sly glance. “In fact, they probably already know where I am and are on their way right now.”
However, he just waved a dismissive hand and said to her nonchalantly, “It does not matter. If we sell you to someone at the auction, then your Clones will be their problem, not mine.” Then he began to turn away from her.
She caused him to stop in his tracks when she said to him, “Even so…what makes you think I won’t have them come after you anyway?”
He turned over his shoulder and replied, “I have dealt with Clones before. I have nothing to worry about.”
“My Clones are different…and you’ll regret everything after they’re through with you,” she told him in a darker tone.
Right then, she noticed his eyes dart back and forth nervously for a few seconds before he whipped back around and went for the door, signalling his man to follow him.
Kimber smirked to herself as the two Weequay left her alone, certain she had planted the seed of doubt and fear of her squad into Hondo’s mind. Now, all she could do was hope that her boys would come through; that they’d follow her signal and find her before it was too late.
"I need you, lads. I'm counting on you. Please hurry."

Within minutes, Hondo’s ship dropped out of hyperspace and, out of the viewport, Kimber could see a red and yellow planet overhead. Knots began to form in her stomach at the thought of touching down on the planet and then potentially being sold at a black market auction. She hoped that things wouldn’t get that far. Unfortunately, even if the Bad Batch were on their way, it would still be a while until they got there, even with the modified hyperdrive on the Marauder. She either had to stall long enough or pray someone else nearby would track her distress beacon and get her out.
The ship landed and Kimber was escorted by one of Hondo’s men as they disembarked off of the ship, the rest of the crew pushing multiple carts of crates with weapons and other items inside. The air was slightly smokey and the sky above them was a deep orange in color. As they stepped down the ramp, they were met by a crowd of various different species of humanoids and aliens, all with unnerving appearances or looks on their faces. Kimber immediately felt her chest tighten and she grew anxious. This was definitely not a place she should be. Hondo almost seemed to parade down the ramp with her at his side like she was a prize that he wanted to show off to everyone. It made her extremely uncomfortable and nervous seeing how everyone else was looking at her, especially a group she spotted near the back; a group of four feline humanoids. She recognized them as Zygerrians and her blood ran chill. She remembered Tech telling her about them; that they were the largest organization of slavers in the galaxy.
“I have a bad feeling about this…!” she thought worriedly.
Their very presence there almost frightened her. She was already scared of Hondo selling her, but if he were to sell her to them...she couldn’t even fathom the thought. Her stomach churned at seeing them grinning maliciously at her and watching her with the eyes of hunters hungrily stalking their prey.
Hunter….
If those Zygerrians got a hold of her, she would never see Hunter or any of her Clones again. They would take her to their planet and would surely deactivate if not destroy her commlink and they would find the distress beacon. She’d be taken away and there would be no chance of the Bad Batch ever finding her again. In her head, she tried her best to think of a way out of the whole situation, but she was coming up with nothing. With all these people around, including the Zygerrians, and the fact that she was locked in binders, there wasn’t a whole lot she could do. She felt hopeless, trapped in a cage with no key in sight. There had to be a way out…there had to be.
“Greetings, gentleman!” Hondo loudly declared to the crowd, throwing his arms out to the sides in a welcoming gesture. “I have brought the items as promised and the auction may soon begin.” Then he turned back to his men and ordered, “Take the crates and the woman to the warehouse. Blindfold her, as well.”
Before she could protest, a black hood was thrust over Kimber’s head and her sight was obstructed. Then she was gruffly pulled forward, luckily by her uninjured arm, and she started walking blindly.
This wasn’t looking good. How was she going to get out of this?
As she walked, the handsome face of her Sergeant came to her mind. She could see his warm brown eyes gazing at her like she was the epitome of the stars themselves, his loving smile, his half-skull tattoo that somehow brought her comfort and the red bandana that she loved so much. In her head, she could hear his husky baritone voice telling her he loved her and encouraging her to be strong like he always did. Even though it was all just memories being conjured up in her mind to help her cope with the predicament she was in, she almost could’ve believed it was real; that Hunter was actually there with her. All she could do was hope and pray that somehow, she would be able to escape and find a way back into Hunter’s arms once more.
After a few minutes of walking, Kimber could hear the growing sounds of chattering and clamoring of a bunch of people as she was forced to a stop. Her blindfold was removed and she found herself being stared at once again by a lot of prying eyes. A crowd of humanoids and aliens were all seated in several rows in front of her. In that moment, she realized she was on a slightly raised platform at the front of the warehouse.
Right then, a male Trandoshan stepped up and spoke in a snakelike voice, “Before we begin auctioning off weapons, we have a new item on the docket…the prestigious pirate Captain, Hondo Ohnaka, brings us this lovely human woman right here.”
The crowd began to cheer and yell in response to that announcement and it made Kimber sick to her stomach.
“She claims she was part of a Clone squad...but if that were true, then they would have come for her already!” the Trandoshan exclaimed.
Laughter erupted from the audience. In response, Kimber just glared at them and then side-eyed the Trandoshan disapprovingly.
“All profits on the woman will go towards the Ohnaka Gang. We’ll start the bidding at one hundred thousand credits worth of spice.”
“Two hundred thousand!” immediately cried out another human male.
Right away, Kimber had to just close her eyes and lower her head. She couldn’t believe this was literally happening to her; that this group of people were actually bidding on her like she was an object. It made her skin crawl and she just couldn’t bring herself to look any of these people in the eye. Instead, she heard the Trandoshan and a chorus of voices yelling out bidding amounts, her anxiety growing with each one.
“We have two hundred thousand! Will anyone say three?”
“Three hundred thousand!”
“Four hundred thousand!”
“Five hundred thousand!”
The Trandoshan replied, “Now we have a bid for five hundred thousand. Anyone wish to up the bid?”
“Seven hundred thousand!”
“Oh, we’ve jumped up to seven thousand.”
“I bid eight hundred thousand!”
“One hundred million.”
Kimber’s body froze as she heard a gravelly, accented voice confidently spout out such an outlandishly high bid. Her eyes popped open and she looked up to see who had spoken. When she found the culprit walking forward between the rows, her heart fell in her chest.
It was one of the Zygerrians. He was dressed in red, had black and brown fur, white around his face and gold eyes that peered at her maliciously.
"No...no...no...!" Kimber muttered under her breath in fear.
"That's not fair!" cried out another human man. "He's part of the Zygerrian Slave Empire. He has loads of money!"
The Zygerrian stopped and said slyly in response, "Exactly...so either up the bid or concede. It makes no difference to me because either way...the woman is coming with me."
The cunning look he was giving her was almost enough to make Kimber start shaking. Then when she realized no one else was speaking, the trembling became a reality.
The Trandoshan then spoke up, "One hundred million going once...going twice...sold to Raney of the Zygerrian Slave Empire."
Kimber couldn't breathe. This couldn't be happening. Invisible walls were closing in around her as Raney walked up towards her.
"No...I'm not going anywhere with you!" she cried as he approached.
"You have no say in the matter. You belong to me now," he stated in return.
There was a cough all of a sudden from Hondo, who appeared beside her, as he interjected, "Actually, she technically still belongs to me until I get my spice."
The Zygerrian gave him an unamused glance before replying, "Of course. Bring her to my ship and you will receive your payment." Then he turned around and began walking away.
Hondo took Kimber by the elbow and led her away a few paces after Raney.
After a few minutes of walking, Kimber finally couldn't take it anymore. In a hushed, urgent tone, she said, "Hondo, don't do this. Please...don't give me to him."
"I am sorry, little tooka, but he paid for you," he said back quietly.
"I have already been a slave once," she told him. "That's how I ended up with my Clone squad, okay? They rescued me and took me in with them. I can't be a slave again. I can't!"
He sighed heavily. "I do sympathize with your plight and you have my deepest apologies...but I am a businessman. I cannot go back on a deal."
She then hissed back at him, "Forget about being a businessman! What about being a man of honor, a fact that you seem so proud of? You're selling a woman into slavery. What honor is there in that?"
In response to that, Hondo said nothing.
“Hondo, please, I am begging you…don’t let him take me. Don’t do this.”
It wasn’t long until they reached the Zygerrian cruiser. Kimber could already feel her heart rapidly and furiously pounding against her chest.
Raney turned around and gestured to the ship, saying, “You will find your spice on board, Captain. My men aboard will help you retrieve it.”
“Ah, wonderful,” he replied with a grin. He took one last look at Kimber, who was shaking her head, her eyes glistening with forming tears and pleading with him not to go ahead with the deal.
“Please, don’t,” she begged.
He sighed once again, taking her helmet that she hadn’t noticed he’d been carrying under his arm and placing it over her head. “I am sorry…little tooka.” Then he walked towards the ship.
“Hondo!” she cried out in a rage as well as panic as Raney then grabbed a rough hold on her arm and started pulling her away.
He hadn’t gotten very far when all of a sudden, there was the sound of what seemed like a small engine, a small thud followed by a voice, crying, “Let her go!”
The voice that had called out…it was a Clone’s voice.
Kimber’s heart leapt in relief. They had finally come!
She and Raney both whipped around to see a Clone standing behind them with his blaster pointed in their direction. However, this wasn’t one of her boys nor was it even a regular Clone that she recognized. He was wearing a jetpack, for one thing, and also a helmet and armor she hadn’t seen before. Before she could really register it, there were the sounds of hissing and dull roaring above them and right then, three more Clones on jetpacks appeared through the light smoke in the air and landed in a circle around them, all aiming their blasters and rifles.
“What are Clones doing here?” Raney asked, infuriated.
“It can’t be!” Hondo cried out in alarm.
Kimber couldn’t help but grin to herself. It seemed her ploy to trick Hondo had worked. Even though these weren’t her boys, it was still a squad of Clones that had showed up to rescue her…and more than likely, he believed this was her squad that had tracked her just like she had led him to believe.
The first Clone then spoke, “Stand down and surrender the woman. She’s all we want. Give her to us and you can walk away.”
“You can’t have her. She belongs to me,” Raney spat back.
The Clone raised his blaster a little higher. “Don’t make me repeat myself, slaver,” he stated in a hard voice. “Release her.”
Raney pulled her back forcefully against him. “You Clones have no business interfering with--”
He was cut off as the Clone suddenly fired his blaster and Raney cried out in pain, releasing his hold on Kimber. Once she was free, the Clone held out his hand to her and cried, “Come, get behind me!” She didn’t hesitate to listen and ran towards the unknown Clone, his arm coming around and gently pushing her behind him. When she turned back to look at Raney, he was down on his knees and clutching at his right eye, groaning in agony.
"That was a warning," the Clone told him sternly.
Just then, more Zygerrians from the ship came running out, having heard a blaster shot, and they began firing at the newcomers.
“Take cover!” the Clone cried out to the rest of them as he then guided Kimber behind some nearby crates and they both ducked down. While the rest of the group did the same, firing back at the Zygerrians, he put his finger to the side of his helmet and he cried into his comm, “We have our quarry, but we’re taking fire! Land the gunship!”
Within seconds, Kimber could hear engine noises above her and what she recognized as a gunship came flying down, straightening out for a landing in the space between them and Raney, Hondo and the Zygerrians. The doors on the sides of the ship both opened up and a few more Clones on the inside drew their weapons and fired at the opposing side.
“Go, go! I’ll cover you!” the Clone told her.
She gave him a nod and ran quickly to the ship. One of the Clones that had arrived on jetpack had gotten inside already, saw her coming and held out a hand, calling, “Come on, I’ve got you!” She jumped up into the ship, lifting her bound hands and grabbing onto his hand as best she could. He grasped her hand and steadied her with his other arm, pulling her into the middle of the ship as the rest of them clambered in.
“We’re clear! Take off!” called out one of the other jetpack Clones.
Kimber’s balance wobbled slightly as the ship picked up off the ground and took flight into the air. Her knees buckled beneath her as the adrenaline of the moment began fading away and she fell back against the wall of the now red-lit interior of the gunship. The Clone holding onto her carefully guided her down to the ground. Once she was down, one of them took a vibroblade and slashed through her binders, releasing her hands.
She reached up, removed her helmet and then exhaled both loudly and shakily. She couldn’t believe it. She had actually been rescued, narrowly escaping slavery.
The first Clone came over and knelt down in front of her, telling her, “We picked up and tracked your distress signal. You’re safe now. Are you all right?”
Still breathing heavily, Kimber tilted her head to look at the Clone. Now that she had a moment to really analyze him, she noticed his armor was white and gray. One of his pauldrons had a small antenna attached to it, indicating his rank as a Commander. His helmet was also the same colors as his armor and had some sort of animal-like design on it that she couldn't make out at the moment.
“I am…thank you,” she breathed out.
The other Clone next to her then said, gesturing to her arm, “Commander, it appears she’s been injured.”
“We’ll take her back to the Triumphant and get her checked out,” the Commander replied.
“Who…who are you?” Kimber asked him.
The Clone then proceeded to remove his helmet and set it down on the ground. He looked very similar to Cody in facial features and hairstyle; however, he had a white cybernetic right eye and a long scar that ran over it. When he turned his upper body to set the helmet down, she then saw the depiction of a wolf on his other pauldron.
He looked her in the eyes and told her, “The name is Commander Wolffe.”

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about William on Supergirl from fellow Supercorp shippers, so I wanna talk a bit about Kara and Lena’s love interests and how they are viewed, and also about racism in the show and fandom. This has probably been done to death but I’m new to the fandom — I binge watched the show over the winter and just started using Tumblr in a real way about a month ago. So anyway, back to the men:
There’s the major three: James, Mon-El, and William. Jack is cool too — he should’ve had more than two episodes which is part of the issue I’m going to get to, but he never got to be a major player.
So let’s talk about James. Now, I liked him a lot, particularly in season 1. Of the three main love interests for Kara, he was the only one who (season 1) writers took time to establish as a character separate from her. He had hopes and a backstory (of course), and his own idealism that usually uplifted and sometimes contradicted with Kara’s. He was honest, and vulnerable, and when he made a mistake (like calling Superman against Kara’s wishes) he grew from them. Because he respected Kara, and himself. Now the chemistry between Kara and James for me felt good — it wasn’t earth shattering — but it was typical in what I’d come to expect from a heterosexual pairing. And I would argue that had the writers not done a complete 180 on Kara’s feelings for James in S2 and had let them keep growing together as characters, that the chemistry and relationship could have been really good. But they didn’t because as the writers themselves said, they’re ‘in the drama business.’ So having a healthy, supportive partner for Kara wasn’t their priority, James was sidelined, and then they never figured out what to do with his character from that moment on. Also, I do think that race played a part in the writers’ decision to change direction with their relationship, and it’s...disheartening.
Now real briefly on James with Lena: it reminded me a lot of Laurel 1 and Oliver — when they talked about each other to other people— I believed that there was love, but when they were together, I didn’t see any real spark. Even their drama wasn’t particularly interesting — so I won’t even get into it. But it’s been long enough in this post for me to get to the point of it: the fault of the deterioration of James as a character lies with the writers. They chose to sideline him, have his values constantly shift, and have his character development stagnate post S1. He could’ve had interesting stories as Guardian, could’ve worked more closely with Kara when he replaced Cat Grant, or any number of things. But his potential was squandered. And if they were so dead set on having a male love interest for Kara, he was their best option of the three.
Mon-El and Kara had chemistry. To me, it was very much sibling chemistry in nature, which is kind of funny considering that in the comics he was a pseudo brother to Superman. To be clear I’m talking about Kara and Mon-El and not Chris and Melissa who are married, because they aren’t their characters. That’s how I think he should have stayed — as an antagonistic, shallow brother type who slooowly became decent through character growth and not specifically to become Kara’s love interest. But the handful of times Mon-El did the right thing — rebelling against his parents, trying to be a hero etc. it was because he liked Kara. How boring is that? As a love interest he was subpar — and he continued to be a liar. I don’t hate him like some fans do — and I’m well aware that he was a shallow partner who owned other people on his planet, and a habitual liar. I also see that this show is fantastical in nature where I am rooting for Lena after nearly mind-enslaving the entire population just last season. And also in a universe where a primary hero — Oliver Queen, was a serial killer (as are Laurel 2, Sara Lance, and Mick Rory to name a few). So that isn’t the main reason why I don’t like Mon-El for Kara. I just feel as early Kara felt: She deserves so much better than him.
What is there even to say about William? He’s essentially the audience in character form — the chorus in an Ancient Greek play telling us how we should feel about whatever action he’s being sidelined from. If they wanted him to be endgame, he should’ve been introduced bare minimum a season earlier to give him a fair shot. He needs to be better integrated in the fold, and at this point there isn’t a lot of time to do that well.
I’m making this post though because I don’t agree with some of what I’m seeing in fandom. Yes, I too dislike Mon-El as a love interest for Kara, but I’m not going to yuck someone else’s yum. Same goes for William and James. If you see something romantic, that’s okay. If you’re a multi shipper, that’s okay too. I was into other Arrowverse shows when Karamel and Supercorp animosity was at its highest and saw some of what went on and now I see some people uniting over their mutual dislike for William. But his underdevelopment as a character is once again entirely on the writers and execs. Not Staz Nair. And @motorcyclegirlfriends has a much more nuanced post about how race plays into characters being empathized within fandom and the screen time they are allotted by writers and directors. https://motorcyclegirlfriends.tumblr.com/post/649196192472924160/what-a-lot-of-the-nice-fellow-fans-dont-harass
We shouldn’t be tearing down actors of color or characters of color out of frustration over (potentially/hopefully) queer (white) characters. We should instead be asking for them to have more well rounded stories, just as we ask for better LGBT rep — the two aren’t separate. If Supercorp doesn’t become canon it won’t be because of the subpar heterosexual romances they were given. It will be because the writers see the love story they’ve created, inadvertently or otherwise (even doubling down on it in S5) but chose to ignore it. I really hope that isn’t the case. Us fans deserve more complex, messy slowburn romances, and Supercorp could be up there with She-Ra as one of the best ever portrayed. Here’s to hoping.

Dead Karamel Fics Club
So, I was talking with a @raisedbyfandomwolves about the karamel fics ideas we are never going to write and I’m going to kill you with one of my ideas.
The title: DEAD TO THE WORLD
Theme song:
Deathwish without a prayer
End of hope
End of love
End of time
The rest is silence
*evil laugh*
It starts sometime after s3. Mon-El for a few years is in the future and exploring with his Legion friend Sal the ruins of National City (most of the humanity lives in the flying cities, because the future, bitches!, and most of the earth is destroyed).
Suddenly Sal calls him, because he finds intact newspaper. Mon grabs it but it turns to dust, but before he manages to make a hologram of the first page with his ring.
The article written by James Olsen is about Supergirl’s heroic death.
In their Legion headquarters he, Sal and Brainiac are talking about the article. Mon notices some of the facts in the article are different than in the past he remembers, also Kara should not be dead on that moment aka someone is screwing the timeline.
He demands (aka showing Brainiac into the wall and threatening to murder him with cold blood) to be sent into the past. Sal agrees to come with him.
The problem is, the device Brainiac offers is not good – it can bring you back once and then goes poof!. Also, they can’t take anything with them aka they end naked *Terminator’s theme in the background*. So, no legion rings. Also, they may or may not turn into a cloud made of molecules.
Mon of course doesn’t give a fuck but promises he won’t contact Kara or superfriends to not fuck the timeline more. Because they can’t take anything with them, Brainiac tattoos how to make the device on Mon’s back.
Before they are sent, they drink some rum and holds hands and byeeee, Brainiac Mon and Sal to the past.
What happens?
A lot can happen in 5 seconds.
In the first second, you can open your eyes and see darkness. You can realize you are levitating in air. You can also realize you are completely naked. In the second, you can fall down. In third, you can make a hole in the roof of a henhouse and be a cause of a collective heart attack of 20 poor chickens. In the fourth you can throw up the aldebaran rum you so unwisely drunk before Brainy sent your ass back into the past. In the fifth you can moan the one and only fitting word:
“Fuck.”
There is no Sal in the sight. Did he turn into a dust? Stay tuned!
Because I have amazing sense of humor, Mon is found by an old lady who is the owner of the henhouse. She aims a shotgun at him, while he, covers himself with a chicken and explains himself.
Because the lady is bored and she doesn’t see hot naked guys, she clothes him, feeds him and borrows some money for the bus to NC. In exchange, he fix some shit in her house.
In NC Kara is in her depressed mood that becomes worse, because sometimes she hears Mon’s hearbeat *sad violin music*
Mon is proceeding with his investigation but sometimes can’t help himself and watches her from some afar. So yeah, she really hears his hearbeat. Oh the ANGST.
He contacts… Lobotomizer (when I was developing this story I still didn’t mind her….). He explains her everything, shows her his mighty naked back and she promises making the device.
Then he is caught by *the drums* yes, you guessed right! Sal his pal, who is a Dxamite who survived the invasion (all his other friends-soldiers breathed too many lead and died) but was sucked by the same portal as Mon.
He is also *more drums* the guard who saved Mon on Daxam and yes! He wants revenge! Cold ass revenge! Because he blames Mon for his bro death, his chomik death (hamster on Daxam, Sal calls his Bob), his blah blah *villains bullshit* and will kill and destroy everything Mon’s love. Aka Kara :)
Mon somehow escapes the cage and runs to Kara who sees him for the first time, smiles and… ends dead, stabbed by a kryptonite blade. She dies in Mon’s arms and he blames himself, because I’m a cold bitch without a heart.
He thinks it’s all his fault and goes to Lena who gives him the time travel device. Instead of the future he goes to the past, to Daxam, the morning it is destroyed. He kills himself, because I’m super duper ass cold bitch. His guard tries to save him, but before he kills the Kryptonian, Mon-El stops him and allows the shocked ambassador to escape. Maybe, the guard accidentally shots him. Mon holds the face of his guard in his palms, says it’s the only way and embraces. And then kaboooom, all die.
Kara wakes up in the present, woken up by another nightmare, when she sees a strange random Daxamite guy who looks a little familiar but she can’t recall him.
Then Sal, who was sleeping beside her, because I’m a cruel horrible human being, wakes up, asks if it was a nightmare and they cuddle and come back to sleep, but Kara is still weirded out.
There is an implication Sal remembers the other timeline and everything what has happened.
THE END
Joking, I was thinking about part two, where Sal tries to prevent Kara from restoring her memories and shit happens, but because the power of love!, she does and then tries to save Mon-El. Not necessarily she would succeed because I really wanted to make this story horrible :P
Soooo, karamel fic writers! Do you have abandoned fic ideas? Care to share?!
Also, @raisedbyfandomwolves I’m challenging you to share your idea. MUHAHAAHH!

Supergirl finale thoughts
Overall, I like this episode. One thing I really liked actually was how Lex met his end. Him being brought down by his own hubris seemed fitting since part of Lena’s arc this season included letting go of her personal stake in the fight against Lex. I wish the phantoms had only taken Lex though because Nyxly deserved better than sent back to the Phantom Zone with Lex.
I was in favour the the DEO being reconstituted, but only because it’s a “carte blanche to reimagine it” which means they can reimagine it as not a military organisation. I was thinking that with the help of people like Kelly, it would be more of a bureau that does stuff like help aliens navigate the system to becoming citizens and fund community organisations to help aliens (as well as giving Alex a pay check). Dreamers Center for LGBTQ+ outreach made me tear up.
I was so happy to see Monel’s goodbye because it felt like what they did with William to shut down Karamel for good. I hope it’s because they knew how toxic it was and wanted to say that Kara deserves better but idk.
Also, Brainy and Nia’s goodbye was so good. I was almost disappointed when he came back because that made such a good goodbye pointless.
I was so excited to see Cat again. Especially when she said “everything became clear, I’m a reporter.” That’s the same realisation I needed Kara to have.
I was so scared when she was talking to Alex that she was going to change her mind and go to the future.
Cw cannot seem to get lesbian wedding looks down. At least the outfits were good this time and it was just Alex’s hair that was weird.
Why did Winn and Lena walk in arm in arm? What happened to the big brain now that Brainy’s staying? Nura Nal? I’m assuming the reason that Winn could leave the present forever without bad things happening was because, like the original Legends, he wasn’t very important.
Yay! Kara singing! Obviously was going to happen but I’m still happy.
Why didn’t Eliza walk Alex down the aisle? Especially since J’onn is officiating.
I love seeing Esme happy!
I wonder why the Lena godmother scene was cut in the aired version. It was funny and heartwarming.
The OG superfriends 😍 most of this episode didn’t feel very much like the series finale, but this part really did.
The “I figured out what I really wanted in life” then cut to a shot of Lena glowing in the sunlight and the only thing in focus just seemed like something out of a romance movie.
Didn’t we learn that Cat knew about Kara being supergirl back in season 2? I think so but I guess Kara didn’t.
I was convinced Kara was going to say “I love you while hugging Lena”
Lena looked so gay in the second half of this episode. I’m glad the last shot of the series was Kara looking happy.
The only thing I’m really disappointed about is that Kara didn’t end up with Lena. Because it was brought up again and again from the beginning of the series that Kara wanted a partner, and most recently in the second half of season 6 with “I don’t want to be alone anymore” I’m disappointed that she didn’t get her “perfect partner at game night” happy ending that I felt she deserved.

Redoing my titles + writers spec
So, with the new information, I’m trying to update my spoiler speculations accordingly.
13 - The Gauntlet: Dana Horgan (story) & Jay Faerber & Brooke Pohl I had this down as a Lena/Andrea and maybe the point where Lex re-enters the picture. Lena/Andrea is still a possibility but so far it doesn’t look like Lex is back yet unless they are hiding him really well.
This is also contains the test of course. If it really totem = a person, and courage = Alex that could fit with my take that Faerber was involved in writing Welcome Back Kara.
14 - Magical Thinking: Derek Simon & Karen Maser Well, it at least confirms a very small thing about my theory that writers like to bring back stuff they introduced, with Karen Maser being the one who introduced Esme and who now brings her back for this episode.
Derek Simon has written a bunch of strong Lena action girl episodes ( most notably Trinity ) or strong Lena contributes episodes (like Man of Steel) so I kind of assumed that his influence would be dominant. (note that both Derek Simon and Karen Maser are co-executive producers though I think Maser has been one for longer).
I guess there is a chance that this is another Kelly centric episode where Kelly = humanity? Or it is more Lena centric with Lena = destiny? Or it’s destiny, but destiny is one of the few totems Nyxly manages to get?
15 - Hope for Tomorrow:  Robert L. Rovner (story) &  Emilio Ortega Aldrich & Nicki Holcomb Now that we know about the totems we know that this is likely about the totem of Hope and naturally Hope = Kara. I guess it makes sense that this warrants attention from the big guy Rovner.  Other than that I had this tentatively scribbled down for maybe Brainy or Nia stuff based on the writers, but we really know very little about the episode.
16 - Nightmares In National City: Rob Wright & Jess Kardos
Based on the title I would assume that this is about the Dream totem and hence would expect this to be Nia focused. Which would fit with the writers, they also wrote the prom episodes which were rather Nia heavy in addition to Kara and Alex heavy.
Okay, originally there was a rumor that 17 would be called Truth and Consequences and 18 would be Believe In A Thing Called Love.
Later the writers guild of america site was updated to have 17 as I Believe In A Thing Called Love with Dana Horgan &  Nicki Holcomb as writers. It should be noted that the WGA has wrong information on it, it has two episodes called Lost Souls rather than having the correct info on Prom Again.
Personally, I still think that:
Truth and Consequences is a perfect Lena/Andrea/William title. And either of them would be a really interesting choice for the truth totem. Also Dana Horgan to me strikes me as a though not exclusively so but still fairly Lena centric writer. So to me the perfect combination would be 17 + Truth and Consequences + Dana Horgan and Nicki Holcomb as writers + it’s about the truth totem.
With 18 being about the totem of love, maybe containing a Dansen engagement, which means that Kelly or Dansen (or even little Esme!) would be love and somebody else could be/would be humanity (maybe Lena as humanity in 14? though that seems a bit weird to me if they just made her a witch, wouldn’t declared normal person Kelly be a better representative for humanity?). Though I guess it’s possible that it could be Brainy’s love for Nia? Or J’onn’s love for Kara and Alex? Or if you are true Karamel believer you could hope that that’s where Mon-El returns.
But I have to at least entertain that my “OMG, Truth and Consequences is a perfect title for a potential Lena or Lena&Andrea episode” issues are not indulged. and really 17 is Love and 18 is Truth. One thing that could come of it would be what if they shot stuff heavily out of order near the end and the “love” is a Dansen wedding or engagement and the “consequences” is the death and funeral of William, explaining why Alex is wearing a ring at the funeral? (I still think that episode 20 is way too stuffed to contain a big battle AND a funeral AND a wedding AND various wrap up scenes AND a big speech AND potentially the reintroduction of guest characters, so shooting stuff out of order with the special guest stars like James makes a ton of sense to me, like have a wedding or engagement party in 18 and James is present for it)
But yes, I can also entertain that 17 = Love = Lena centric beacuse of Dana Horgan.
That would leave William or Andrea as the most likely candidates for truth in episode 18. (I still really like the concept of William passes the test of Truth, dies a hero’s death and passes the totem on to Andrea who feels so humbled by his sacrifice that she becomes a better person) But with us not knowing who wrote it there isn’t really much to go on except a potential title and the concept that there has to be a truth token and me thinking that truth fits those characters the best (Wlilam tries to find the truth, Lena of course was very hurt by truth being kept from her, Andrea is William’s boss and just recently had some lines about truths and secrets)
There are also rumors that episode 19 is called Last Gauntlet. So this would presumably be where they retrieve the last totem. Based on the episode title game, it would have to be either destiny and humanity. My main instinct was that humanity would be considered most important and would be last. But I guess it could also be destiny if Kelly = humanity = episdode 14.
What this leaves out is the return of Lex. We know he is back in 19.
I originally had him penned down for him showing his presence again in episode 13 because of
1.) the writers involved  2.) It would make a lot of sense to bring Lena and Wiliam in contact for 14 3.) Melissa mentioned that the return of Lex would play a role in Kara and Lena letting bygones be bygones and we know they work together in 14.
But unless they are hiding him intentionally from the spoilers for surprise reasons, it doesn’t seem likely to me anymore. Since we now know that Lena’s ritual in 2 has something to do with Nyxly not Lex. I guess it’s possible that Lena and Kara have a different disagreement later in the season that then is put aside due to the return of Lex? Death of William? Misuse of power? Lena withholding information on Acrata?
Anyway, if it is not 13 where Lex start working from the shadows, my second guess would be 17 because of Horgan. Or 15 because of Rovner (since his presence implies important episode). Which would make some sense if like teaming up with Lex causes Nyxly to become more powerful, allowing her to unleash a NIghtmare On National City.  I don’t really buy that they can add him back that late into the plot as just 19. I feel like at the very least you would have to feel his presence whether Lex himself is present (like in the garbage island episode) for it to feel satisfying that he is the one in the big last battle. But with how they gave Nyxly a different sidekick I guess there is less need for him, since she already has a sidekick who acts as her guide to this world and who she can explain her plans to.
@peggystormborn there is a rumor that the title of the last episode could be “Kara”, made me think of you and your neither Kara Danvers nor Kara Zor-El nor Supergirl, just Kara theories.
