I just want to address this because I've seen a lot of international turtles freaking out and getting all excited about it - the supposed movie GG and DD are set to star in together.

I'm a bit surprised that anyone takes this even remotely seriously. Just a reminder that Douban is a user edited site just like IMDB and Wikipedia. Don't be sucked into ridiculous things like this. I put the chance of GG and DD starring in a film together at about 0.05%.

As I have said in the past, GG and DD are highly unlikely to ever work together again - at least not in the foreseeable future. Their fans wouldn't stand for it - and we should all know this by now. The fan wars would be horrible, unprecedented and potentially career-destroying on both sides. The arguments over which got higher billing than the other - that alone would burn down the internet.

They're also both top stars, so it's unlikely a production could afford them both, or that their schedules would coincide in such a way as to make a collaboration like this possible.

If they were to take a chance on working together again - and for countless reasons it would be a huge risk for them both - I doubt they'd do so unless the project and the production team were so high profile and undeniable that fans on both sides couldn't help but be excited for the opportunity and couldn't help but accept that it was a good choice for them. Wong Kar Wai, Ang Lee and the like. Even then, I'm not sure fans would accept it.

Never lose sight of how deeply the hatred runs between their two fan groups, or of how massive an impact that's going to have on their future choices, or on any chance of their appearing together.

All that aside, GG and DD are individuals who've worked hard to forge their own separate careers and build their individual successes. I don't think they'd be eager to throw back in together on a project so that they can be further lumped together and so there can be further public speculation about them and their relationship.

We're 5 years out since the Untamed and GG and DD STILL can't even appear on the same stage at an awards show, and turtles seriously think they're going to appear in a film together?

Please wake up and stop setting yourselves up for disappointment. Such ideas are nothing more than a wild fantasy, no matter how appealing they may seem. I urge every fan to try to come down to earth, take care of yourselves by being realistic and not buying into ridiculous rumors.

We're unlikely to even get a statement about this fake project. At most it will quietly disappear from Douban.

Remember: Melons are to be enjoyed but never believed.

girl how long was santana left abandoned in mexico???

homeboy doesn’t know what hamon is!! looking at santana himself, he only wears a simple white cloth covering. he doesn’t have any anti-hamon weapons like the other pillar men have. when he sees joseph, he calls him “unique” and unlike any other human he’s seen before. he even tests this theory on speedwagon, confirming that joseph was different than any other human he had seen before.

kars, esidisi, and wamuu had time to not only travel to europe and possibly asia (at least esidisi did), meet the hamon tribe and fight against them long enough not only to develop specialised weapons and techniques, but to eradicate them. AND IMHO i think the hamon clan was numerous! when caesar gives his spiel about wham killing random man #5, all the pillar men laugh and talk about how all the hamon users are the same and how they all value friendship.

kars states directly that his quest for the red stone has been ongoing for 5,000 years. it’s reasonable to assume that’s when the triumvirate left mexico in search of the stone across the atlantic. it’s entirely debatable if santana was ever given the stone mask that gave the other three their modes. he may be the ONLY actual, non-elevated, pillar man left.

THEY JUST LEFT HIM THERE???? WITH SOME USELESS ROCKS THAT POTENTIALLY NEVER WORKED AT ALL???? NONE OF WHICH KARS EVER CAME BACK FOR BTW HE JUST MADE NEW ONES!

My thoughts on JJBA OVER HEAVEN

So first of all -

it seems my JJBA binge is not over yet, I am still on the desert island and instead of their being water sources large enough to get waterboarded in like last time, I am instead finding small refreshing puddles.

This is copy pasted from my twitter so pardon if its formatted weirdly

I read the novel and- (spoilers under cut)

although it might be dubiously canon, I like it a lot that I think it should be considered so, and in my mind overrides any inconsistencies that the anime/manga may bring up. The timeline seems fucked either way you look at it, fittingly for this story I guess

I liked how it showed the evolution of his idea of ‘heaven’ and how it slowly became what Pucci defined it as. I like how it gives depth without straying from Dio’s insane villainy. and the mommy issues were certainly something as well It actually made me appreciate part 1

I have realised this while I was still watching the anime, but the novel confirms it; all the villains either represent a part of Dio, the big bad

Kars - Dio’s desire to constantly transcend his current state, humanity and whatnot, keep moving up the power scale

Kira - Dio’s idea that all humans live for ‘peace of mind’, as he puts it for himself- ‘preparedness’, knowing that the future will be fine

Diavolo - Dio’s resolve to move only forward, only towards the future

I do love how for the two Stand users, their Stands complement their motives, Kira creating time loops to ensure nothing bad happens to him, and Diavolo ‘skipping time’ to move into and foresee the future. Kira is more ‘stuck in the past’ and Diavolo is heading for the future

Dio is in the present, he merely stops time for a few seconds. It sets up the time manipulation premise in the simplest way and also gives him the further mindfuckery he needs to arrive at his conclusion

And then Pucci, the final villain, is Dio’s resolve to get to ‘heaven’, the culmination of the mindfuckery- their conclusion of it being that the definition of ‘heaven’ is obtaining peace by knowing all of the future and all of fate, and living it out in preparedness.

Their Stands are also opposite of one another, Dio stops time for a brief moment and Pucci accelerates it for all of eternity. Pucci is the kind of fucking guy to spoil the entire movie before watching it

I do love how they define fate as ‘gravity between people', and connect that to the theory of relativity (i’m always a sucker for this kind of shit) combining scientific theory with ideas of fate through a religious character is also just a cherry on top, I love it

THAT and how his Stand Whitesnake, whose powers are to extract ‘souls’ (or so to speak), is covered in the abbreviation of DNA compounds. Also fun fact whitesnake’s voice is based off of patrick star from spongebob

Overall, it was interesting to read how Dio became obsessed with the concept of fate, Ironically, were JJBA to be written with more foresight (preparedness even), then maybe Dio’s thoughts could’ve been more implemented into the story. Don’t get me wrong, he should still be his insane-cartoonishly-evil self at the same time, I love him for that. However, this novel was not written by the OG author, so who knows how canon it even is.

Another thing of note: Dio and Pucci seem to arrive at their idea of ‘heaven’ independently (you could argue Dio kind of began it by suggesting the idea of ‘gravity’ to him), but it was Pucci’s circumstances that ultimately led to it. Dio, at least for a few pages, believes that what one is born into decides everything. And they were born into vastly different situations. Dio talks a lot about his hate of nobles and ‘inheritors’ and hated both his biological and adoptive family.

Pucci is from an influential wealthy family and loved them so. Dio’s sibling was a miscarriage and Pucci’s presumed-dead-twin was actually alive. But both lived circumstances that arrived to a shared idea of ‘heaven’. Dio knows at least the deaths in Pucci’s life, I wonder if he knows his background and if knowing it would challenge or confirm his idea of fate.

I can’t help but wonder how Pucci felt reading the diary through Jotaro’s memories. Also wonder if Pucci saw how Dio died through none other than Jotaro’s memories as well.

Also i don’t know why, this is probably not what is implied cuz it wouldn’t fit characterwise(unless?) but……… did Pucci take Dio’s memory of showing him The World????? Why is it written this way and if so then adhsagdah??

Anyways if you ask me if i’m team ‘ora-ora’ or team ‘muda-muda’ its the latter for me baby

Oaoaao, hello, can I get a headcanon of sfw? Pillarmen/reader? I'm sorry I stretched it so far.

Imagine that the reader is Joseph's youngest adopted sibling and the sibling was adopted by Erina when JoJo was old enough. Maybe the reader is 10 years old? One thought is that if the reader in JoJo's opinion behaved badly or cried a lot over nonsense, he joked that he would give the child back. Joseph is a dumb jerk not realizing how much it scares the little kid who will probably get used to those words.

I don't know how to think this through well, but the reader goes with Joseph, Caesar, and Speedwagon to the catacombs where they encounter the pillarmen. The reader panics and soon cries, Joseph turns purely mechanically to say a certain stupid thing and the reader suddenly goes off to the pillarmen, patting Kars on the thigh and saying that he is now their new daddy and brother.

•I don't think Santana ever really falls for you the same way the other Pillar Men do, but treats with with respect

•Secretly jealous that you get treated so much better than he does

The most common reason why people think Diavolo's death was undeserved is because other villains who are just as bad him don't get he punishment he does. I do agree with that but I don't think that would make his punishment undeserved, it would just make it disproportionate. So you can think he deserves infinite deaths but still think his punishment unfair.

And I DO believe it's disproportionate, at least when comparing how much harm they caused.

Diavolo's sphere of influence doesn't reach beyond Italy for the most part, compared to Valentine who would have fucked up every country besides USA if Johnny hadn't stopped him. But Valentine dies normally in the end. The only reason he keeps dying is because of his choice. He could die if he wanted to. Johnny says infinite rotation might destroy his soul but we don't know if that's even true.

Dio gets a normal death too. He is just as sadistic as Kira and has caused way more suffering than him but he doesn't get fucking. banished to the shadow realm like Kira.

The only punishment that even compares to the infinite death loop is Kars's. But the way his ability is set up, it's not like there was any other way to defeat him other than sending him to space.

This is just one of many ways to compare their crimes, I didn't even include what happened to Lucy even tho it's a big reason why Valentine is a horrible person for me personally.

There is one thing I didn't mention though. There is a chance that the infinite death loop is not actually infinite. Generally, when stand users die, their stand dies with them. A stand dissapears with their powers. For example: when Risotto is at the brink of death, the needles and the scapels created by Metallica dissapear. What's also true is that Diavolo doesn't get his iron back, even tho that was caused by Metallica too. I'm not sure which one the death loop counts as. Does GER have to keep the death loop active or is it a one time thing? If it's the former, death loop would stop once Giorno dies (assuming GER dies with him). So he would be in the death loop for around 60-80 years. I still think that's the worst fate out of all the other villains' fates but I can definitely see why someone would argue otherwise.

But then again he wouldn't be in this situation to begin with if he wasn't selling drugs to kids. Maybe don't be evil↪ posts

-"A little derring-do" : "Come now. Would you rather I go out and jump on some unlucky fellow in the streets? All because Jonathan Joestar couldn't give up some of his precious blood. So selfish, Jojo."

"I would rather you hadn't put on that mask at all," Jonathan chided. And yet, he raised a hand to trace one careful thumb over the sharp, sharp tip of Dio's fangs. He almost wanted to press just a little bit harder, enough to see the skin split open and spill red. (Blood drinking, midly dubious consent, frottage)

Jotakak:

shout out to the person who put the 'what if Battle Tendency was a road trip across america' AU into my brain because its so good im so fucking obsessed oh my god

gonna gush about it under the cut

kinda stated in the previous ask if you've seen them

but BT set in america

Joseph is an ex-racer turned derby demolition driver (taking some Love Bug inspo here) who is just trying to make paycheck to paycheck while living in new york supporting his granny erina.

one day he gets a call from his uncle Robert Speedwagon that they made a major discovery in their recent excavations, the start of what seems to be a treasure map to a treasure known as 'The Stone of Aja'. A group known as the 'hamon warrors' have contacted Speedwagon showing great interest in obtaining and protecting this stone. predicting a long trip, the hamon warriors are going to need a ride.

Taking any fast major transportation like trains or planes can prove tricky as it easy to be spotted there and can put other innocent bystanders in danger, and they cant trust private transportation because word of the treasure map being found is sure to quickly spread, and theres going to be people happy to kill them to get their hands on this stone of Aja.

So Uncle Speedwagon, has enlisted his favorite nephew Joseph to transport the three Hamon users Suzi Q, Caesar who are both immigrants from Italy who have moved to America to avoid the rise of fascism in their home country, and their master Lisa Lisa who has been sheltering them since arriving in America. SW claims to be old friends with Lisa Lisa and trust her to take the stone, and knows Joseph is a strong and confident driver who can take needed risk and protect them while they follow clues across america.

along the way they run into others who also have heard about the discovery of a map leading to some powerful and/or rich treasure and they want to make it theres.

among these people are a group of three powerful humans who call themselves the pillar men. Their mannerisms and way of talking are a bit outdated, they they seem far more advance than them, especially about this stone of aja.

slowly putting two and two together that these are vampire from Mexico that awoke seeming to have sensed a change and that the Stone is to be found soon, and their leader Kars wants nothing more than to make it his.

wacky hijinks ensue as they travel from New York all the way to Mexico as they face challenges placed by the Treasures previous owner as well as the others wanting to get their hands on the stone.

really thinking of this as a more modern SBR with cars and less straight up stands, but maybe some because i LOVE the idea of stand users existing in a part with non stand users and them just not getting whats going on and why its different than the Pillar Men and their powers.

Moments of bonding as these 4 dorks basically are trapped in a car for DAYS as they avoid being killed, Training Joseph in Hamon, avoid begin killed by pillar men, Lisa Lisa avoiding spilling the beans on being josephs mom, and young budding romance.

Let me rectify that

Details below

So this is a Battle Tendency x RE1 au, and I can’t decide on a name because “Battle Evil” and “Resident Tendency” sound goofy. “Resident Battle”? “Evil Tendency?” Nothing sounds good. Anyway here’s the main points:

-Chris takes the place of Joseph (Chrisjopher Joestar)

-Wesker takes the place of Kars (Weskars)

-Jill takes the place of Caesar (Jill Zeppeli)

-I’m not entirely sure whether Barry or Wesker should take Lisa Lisa’s place, but I’m leaning more towards Wesker for the same betrayal effect

-Weskars, once he becomes the ultimate being, can wield Hamon masterfully because of how much time he spent around Hamon users

-I’m still working the details out fully

Also all of the art was done when I first started doing digital art back in August so it’s not exactly current

The In Your Blood au! I think in this au Ceaser doesn’t help the Nazi’s and let them study his hamon, because there’s no way British soldier George Joestar 2 would ever allow one of his sons (yes he’s claimed all of Mario’s kids as his) work for the nazis.

So that would mean that in this au, they have to find another way to get into the catacombs since the Germans are guarding it. Of course they probably just plan to knock out the guards… but then they see the horror show awaiting them…

I'm going to be completely honest, I totally forgot about that part of Part 2 and mentally replaced it with something completely different so I'm just going to use that instead of canon shefbhsbfvs

basically, the Hamon Users had been guarding and watching over the Pillarmen for generations before the Nazis got involved. It's part of the reason why Air Supplena was built where it was, so there could be a Hamon HQ of sorts for the remains of the Clan to gather and that Hamon Users could be nearby at all times to defend and watch over the slumbering Pillarmen

Unfortunately, as the years stretched on and already dwindling numbers of Hamon Users, there were fewer and fewer people to keep watch and the exact specifics of the Pillarmen started to fade. By the time the Joestars and Zeppelis inhabited the island, there was almost no one left. Mario ended up learning about that part of the world and took it upon himself to stand up as a new guard, and while he did learn some Hamon, it wasn't nearly enough to avoid his death

so this time, infiltrating the Colosseum is less going to investigate and more the Hamon Users trying to get these assholes who don't know what they're getting into out before they do something stupid

unfortunately for them, they're not fast enough and the Pillarmen are still awoken

admittedly, this is where my plans for the AU start to..... derail a bit. Joseph has W A Y more training in this AU, and on top of that he's been learning how to fight since he was a baby. He would honestly would stand a way better chance at a fight this time, however he's still outnumbered three to one

so I had a possible idea for how things could go

The Pillarmen's whole goal is finding the Aja, something Joseph would probably be aware of even if he isn't sure why they want it. So what if like canon, Joseph manages to talk his way out of it...... but instead of promising a better fight, he ends up making a bet so to speak. In 33 days, the Pillarmen and three Hamon Users will meet at any location of their choosing to fight, and the winner gets to keep their lives and the Aja. He cites how if they're looking for a fight, he's knows more Users who can give it to them, and if they succeed they'll get the thing they've been looking for for thousands of years

after briefly conferring with Kars........ they agree to the terms of the deal

but, well, how do they know Joseph isn't going to simply run off? That the second they let him go, the Hamon Users won't disappear without a trace taking the Aja with them?

so Joseph still gets the wedding rings placed on him........ but they also take it a step further

Joseph is now their hostage, and if he tries to escape or help is sent before their fight, he can kiss the antidote goodbye :)
