Who’s more ticklish?

absolutely noctis is. gladio’s really not even that ticklish for the most part, only on certain spots so if you try to get him without being absolutely sure you’re hitting a sensitive spot, it’s gonna be over for you. noctis and prompto have both learned this the hard way lmao

What kind of tickles are they sensitive to?

noctis is very sensitive to scribbling, feathers, and kisses. scribbling on his tummy or sides is a very good way to get him to squeak and giggle head head off, same with feathers, and kisses work wonders on his neck and ears. gladio’s probably only sensitive to rougher tickles, like digging and scratching; he’s got a lot of muscle and you gotta get through it somehow yknow

Which role (lee/ler) does each of them hold?

noctis is absolutely a switch, but when it comes to gladio, he’s a lee 99% of the time lmao and ofc gladio’s a ler the majority of the time, at least until ignis has had enough of his shit ( bc ignis knows where his tickle spots are and how to get him laughing )

How did they discover each others’ ticklishness?

gladio discovered noctis’ sensitivity when they were kids, during a round of training. unfortunately for notics, it became a pretty regular addition to their normal training, something in the name of “endurance” lmao meanwhile, noctis only found out about gladio’s ticklishness because of ignis

Who’s more likely to instigate a tickle fight?

gladio, whether it be because noctis is being moody and needs something to help him cheer up or he’s being bratty and needs to be taken down a peg or two. noctis only attempts to start a tickle fight when gladio’s being sassy himself AND he can catch him off guard, because lord know that if he gets caught, it’s over for him

How often do they tickle each other?

pretty often, they like to tease and taunt at each other, pushing buttons and whatnot to see who’s going to react first. again, it’s most common during their training and sparring sessions, since gladio can use that as an excuse and noctis has too much pride to walk away from the challenge

Who’s the least likely to ask for tickles?

gladio, definitely. noctis isn’t big on asking for them either, especially not outright because it’s embarrassing, but gladio is much more of a ler, so he’d be the one asking to do the tickling rather than being tickled. he’s absolutely asked noctis for it before, and it was just to watch him flare up red and flustered lmao

God, I just want Noctis to talk to Prompto and confess his feelings. I want Noctis to say "I'm bad with words, and I don't want you to think differently of me for this. But the entire time I was going to have to marry Luna, I was miserable. You guys were so happy and excited and I know the world saw us as a symbol of hope and peace so I almost had to go through with it but I hated it. I'm not.. into her. Yknow? I don't think I'm into women at all. I know how you feel about Cindy, and sorta Aranea, so I don't expect anything out of this and honestly I'd prefer if nothing changed between us because you are so SO important to me. But for me, it's always been you. You treat me like a person, not a prince or a prophecy. You made all the hard things we've done so much easier and I don't know what I would've done without you by my side." And Prompto just stares at him, accidentally letting "are you serious?" slip out. Noctis feels awkward and takes it the wrong way, then apologizes. Then Prompto says "n-no don't apologize! I'm! So happy??? I mean you're a prince and you're so cool and you could be with anyone you want and I'm?? I'm just so happy." He then spends a while explaining that Cindy and Aranea were forced crushes, they're pretty but he put them on a pedestal to try and convince himself out of loving Noctis. He respects Lunafreya too much so he didn't want to hurt her, and he never wanted to ruin their friendship by saying anything. Sending Noctis off to get married, even if it didn't go through, tore him up inside. He also admits he feels like shit knowing now how miserable Noctis felt at the idea of marrying Luna, back then Prompto would obnoxiously make jokes at his expense because he genuinely thought he loved her. He should've known better. At this point Noctis and Prompto and blushing sweaty messes. Noctis looks away but reaches his hand over to Promptos, then he says he's glad he could talk it out finally. But wishes it was done sooner. Prompto grabs Noctis' hand and agrees.

And later Noctis teases Prompto for thinking just because he didn't consider himself in the same league as Noctis, doesn't mean he'd ever have a chance with Aranea or Cindy. Prompto teases back, poking fun at how adorably jealous Noctis can get.

This is great and I love all of it. Noctis is so in love that he's miserable thinking that he has to be with someone else, and Prompto feels the same. Both of them think they know the other is unattainable for one reason or another. I can only imagine how torn up they are inside after all that time. I have to imagine that Noctis confesses all this after something nearly happens to one of them, and he realizes that he needs to say something before he possibly can't at all. He thinks he's selfish for the confession, but boy, it lifts weights off the both of them to have it out there after the confusion is cleared up.

Prompto's gotta laugh when Noctis gets jealous. It's weird to think that the prince himself gets jealous over spending time with him of all people, but once he's used to it, he kinda leans into it and teases him a lot for the reactions it gets. Take that, school bullies, he's got the love of his life on his arm (n˘v˘•)¬ In return, Noctis definitely teases him with "Really, you thought you couldn't have me but went after Cindy? She's way harder to get than me. You're weird." Deep down, though, he feels like the whole world would love Prompto if they got to know him. That's why he's a little possessive sometimes lol

depends on the spot. for example, squeezes to his hips are more effective! while gentle skittering gets him all giggly and squeaky, if you want a rly good reaction out of him, squeezes are the way to go. generally gentle scribbles work better on spots like his tummy, sides, ribs, and feet.

he likes back tickles…. even though he’s so ticklish he can’t sit still. they’re nice, but his back is covered with lil sweet spots and if you even just brush over one he will die. other than that he likes it…. even if he tries to deny it through his giggles >:)c

not really? i mean there’s probably a spot on his legs that’d be uncomfortable but. that’s bc of childhood injury nd stuff.

noctis is a little brat, but it’s easy to tickle that brattiness out of him. and he knows this, and definitely uses it to his advantage. noctis doesn’t get lee moods as often as, say, prompto, but he does have them. and his way of getting tickles is by acting extra bratty. although sometimes it backfires, specifically with ignis. because ignis knows he likes it, and often won’t do anything until he asks.

does teasing affect them?

noctis is def affected by teasing, for sure. i mean, reducing the stubborn prince to childish giggling is enough to embarrass him, but teasing him on top of that? his ears will turn red. he will definitely deny the fact that he’s cute and ticklish if you tease him about it (in which you can then tickle him into admitting it haha)

honestly yeah im making this canon 4 my blog: regis + aulea were both trans and thus r trans parents! more hcing under the cut 4 mentions of pregnancy.

regis was a trans man + aulea was a trans woman! when they got married + decided to have a child, regis came off of testosterone & they had noct roughly a year later!! he went back on when noct was around 2 or 3 when they were absolutely sure they didnt want another

everythin was super smooth for them + a very private affair . clarus + cor were MADLY overprotective of regis and aulea was ecstatic to be a mom like BEYOND thrilled i guaranTEE u she would bet hat kinda mom who doesnt know what to do w/ herself while waiting and spend the entire time either knitting baby clothes or crying. during it she lent her power to regis to help keep the wall up and having that to do as well as attending formal things for him probably ist heonly thing that kept her sane LMAO

regis loved noctis from like the MOMENT he was born ok. they both did. i mean they almost fucking crashed the car jst getting to the hospital they were beyond excited + there was absolutely a huge parade and public announcements and shit bcus they were enamoured, thrilled, overjoyed, and then exhausted for the next 3 years

regis just loves noctis so much though. after aulea died his bond w/ his son rlly just became.. everything to him? to the point that when he found out. yknow. THINGS later he absoutlely gave noctis everything he could ever want. tried to help him live a full life in the short time he had. did everything he could.

Prime cuddle weather is when it’s cold outside. Once the temperature drops, it’s hard to keep Noctis away

Noctis likes to sleep on the people he loves. He stretches out on you like a cat and he’s impossible to move. If Noctis decides to sleep on you, you need to clear your schedule for the day

His cold feet are going to seek warmth wherever they can. He’ll slide them up your back, down your pants, under your armpits... he’s a gremlin

He also likes holding hands when he’s uncomfortable in public. The only downside is that he has an insanely strong grip, and you can’t get away unless you tell him plainly to let you go

If he’s comfortable and relaxed, holding hands might be a little too much for him. But he still likes contact, so he likes to link pinkies

Head scratches are one of his favorite things, and his hair isn’t as dry or hard as you’d think it is. It’s nice for both of you

I’ve said this before, but he doesn’t like to be alone and he will follow you into the bathroom unless you tell him he isn’t allowed

If you aren’t into being touched at the moment, Noctis understands though. Ignis doesn’t like to be touched either, so he considers just hanging out in the same space bonding. You don’t even need to talk, he just enjoys your company

Noctis is, overall, a lot more affectionate than most people give him credit for. He just expresses it in ways that might seem a little different

ffxv tes this is the one of the three that has the most work so far. it’s set loosely about 20 years after the eruption of red mountain. noctis is a bosmeri prince and silvenar-to-be named naltiruhn heavenshade (naltir). he’s engaged to soon-to-be green lady luna (larefina nightbloom). it’s a ritual marriage more than anything, since both naltir and lare have romantic partners outside it but they’re also Best Friends. gladio is an orsimeri warrior named gladghorus gro-ahmtahk, from the ahmtahk stronghold. the ahmtahk stronghold have a shield agreement with the heavenshades- which is how gladghorus ended up being naltir’s bodyguard. his baby sister’s name is irsugha gra-ahmtahk and she spends a lot of time with the heavenshades as well. she’s learning to be a blacksmith. ignis is a dunmeri priest named inhlaris shen-tlu. he and his aunt and mother (forgot their names... they were hlaalu aligned, though) were taken in by the heavenshades when they escaped the eruption in vvardenfell, so he was raised in tandem with naltir. prompto is a khajiit named purohm-la moonchaser. he was raised by his mother in cyrodiil after the twin lamps helped her leave morrowind but ended up across the border in valenwood and kinda just. stayed there. now he’s naltir’s boyfriend, kinda.

i do not remember off the top of my head why they end up going on a roadtrip because it’s been like 2 years since i touched this au. i’m getting started on it again tho =w=)b

ffvii tes this is an au i started working on a good few years ago now and kinda let fall to the wayside for the ffxv one lmao. it’s a little barebones rn, i’m still sorting out translating everyone into the tes-verse. not even wholly sure when it’s set, but probably closer to skyrim than the oblivion crisis

cloud is a dunmer, zack and tifa are orsimeri, barret and reeve are redguards, yuffie is an altmer, i have NO idea about cid, and you have no idea how badly i want to make vincent falmeri. none of them are dovahkiin though, probably.

the biggest part i have sorted out for this au is that aeris and sephiroth are both daedric princes. aeris generally appears as an ayleid, while sephiroth changes his appearance depending on who he appears to. i’m not sure of their spheres rn, but sephiroth’s relatively serious about the whole daedric prince thing, while aeris mostly just likes fucking around and ruining people’s days as long as it’s funny

ffvii cyberpunk

this is wholeheartedly based in large part on shadowrun, because shadowrun was my introduction to cyberpunk rpg. =w=)b ffvii was my introduction to biopunk, but i’ve always been very partial for the specific Aesthetics of neon dysto cyberpunk with magic.

anyway this au basically follows ffvii’s story pretty solidly. shin-ra is still a corproate overlord, but they deal largely in cyberware. they work on a planned obsolescence model, with cheaper hardware having a shorter lifespan. basically, if you’re disgustingly wealthy, you can get cyberware to last. so, genre staple.

JENOVA is basically malware but i haven’t figured it out too much. still very much up in the air. i’m also not wholly keen on using shadowrun’s Essence concept, though i do really like cyberpunk’s cyberpsychosis, so i think i’m gonna try work that in somehow)

barret’s gun arm is shin-ra tech, grafted for him after a shin-ra company accident. it was with the intention of tracking him, but he had it hacked not long after he recovered, and he’s been off the grid since. he has complicated feelings about cosmetic cyberware, but he’s also a big advocate of people doing as they see fit with their own bodies.

aeris is a technomancer- this comes into play with JENOVA being malware kind of- the indigenous cetra were technomancers. she’s also a decker, and an untrained mechanic. (cid is a mechanic by trade, while aeris speaks to the tech she’s working on.)

tifa is a decker as well, with a usb jack behind her ear; she doesn’t jack in using it often because that is FUCKING DANGEROUS but it’s also useful to have if she really needs it, yknow?

i don’t know much about how the SOLDIER project works with cyber rather than bio, but i DO know that cloud’s veins glow.

vincent was used for experimental cyberware, and woke up after a 30yr nap with a bunch of tech installed that they have no idea how to use. sometimes they pick up radio frequencies that only they can hear. they still have no idea how to work a computer.

Lol okay real talk she was a Naruto oc initially -_- she was an assassin who was brainwashed by her parents (yes she had a dad) into killing her best friend, but was convinced someone else did it. So she hunted down that person, only to find out she was the guilty one. She used sound ninjutsu (bc Otogakure is my favourite village and I loved... the sound 5...) and she was associated with the Akatsuki. She was meant to be a tragic villain! Also her violin had like, a conscious. It was called Noctis and it was malignant, and prone to possessing her.

I scrapped it even when transforming her into an original fandomless character because I think the whole “evil” personality is rooted in ableism against DID, plus it’s just kind of needlessly edgy. Her dead best friend was Yukio, who eventually became Orun, and the one she believed killed him was Aika, who became Amandine. I do want Nocturne to not be a straight-laced hero but I want to try and go another route! Plus, as the world expanded so did the demands for world-building and how certain things work, and the scale of what things had to happen to have influence on such a grand, large universe. Yknow? Ironically Aika (who was temporarily a villain) got split into two characters, Amandine ofc, but also another character called Amelia. I like names that start with A apparently. Her mum has pretty much stayed the same, and so has her violin - it just has a different element.

Also, to go with the dark theme, when I started making it more original fantasy, Nocturne originally had to kill all of her sisters and relatives in order to absorb their powers and she did that by ripping out their literal hearts and eating them. That is... not quite still a thing, but the essence is there, and her family are less antagonistic now, and each have more complex motivations (imo). Humble beginnings...

Some polyship roadtrip shit w enby noct and iggy under the cut (hopefully) since im at work with lots of downtime

Noctis is very much like, “im me, but also like, im a dude. But also like! Thats not my defining trait; im Noct, and if you get huffy about how i dress or act or whatever then thats your problem dude”. He likes he/him as much as he likes they/them but hes v snarky w people in the Citadel. Alot of them wont tolerate pronouns; its not important, yadda yadda, so he’ll refuse to acknowledge them unless they specifically say his name or address him w they/them. It pisses them off, it entertains him; its a win/win.

Prompto asked what made him decide on this, being nb, and Noctis was like “i dunno. Im a dude. And like, people tell me i should act a certain way because of that. But people also tell me to act a certain way bc im a prince. And eventually, ill have to act a certain way bc ill be king. And that sucks...so much...I cant avoid expectations set bc of me being a prince, but i can at least try to like, try to make people see im more than just what they think a man is, yknow?”

Makes Prompto think when hes in his bed at night, and he doesnt sleep for the rest of the evening.

Ignis, on the otherhand Very Much aims to be as ‘confusing’ as possible. You Will see him in a blazer and slacks, hair spiked up today. You Will see him in a modest pencil skirt and blouse with his hair swept to the side. He does Not care what you think of him; he does Not care if youre annoyed with trying to figure out what he is. Hes going to wear what he wants, and he will smile nicely as he always does when interacting with councilmen. With friends? He/him, they/them. With people hes forced to interact with? Its they/them; nothing else. He will sit there until the crack of dawn if thats how long it takes for them to acknowledge his pronouns.

Gladio got to witness it one day; Ignis just wearing his regular slacks and blazer when one of his superiors walks up to him, calling him sir. “Sir? You can call me by my name, im sure you know what it is by now.” Its a thinly veiled threat, and Gladio is already on the defensive, ready to body this guy to next week if need be.

“Yes, im aware. And sir is an appropriate way to refer to someone, if you were not aware of that fact.”

“To men.”

“Pardon?”

And Ignis stares him down, sharp, green eyes refusing to let up.

“To men. It is an appropriate way to address men.”

“Is that not what you are?”

“No.”

A sneer, and it takes all of Iggys self control to not roll his eyes. “Oh yes. How did I forget the stunt you pulled yesterday? Or last week? Or the week before that? It is a wonder how the rest of the council puts up with you.”

And before he can say much else, Gladio is already stepping between the two of them, making it Very Clear how Close he is to absolutely smearing this dude across the marble floor.

“...We have a meeting at 5.”

“Duly noted.”

The man walks away and as soon as hes out of sight, Gladio is like “yeah, yeah I know you could snap that mans neck in two, but I didnt want to have to clean a body today. I really didnt....I have training later...”

“...noted...thank you...”

And Gladio smiles, taking that as his cue to let Ignis go do his advisor-y things, but Iggy grabs his hand, gently, but with purpose. “I mean it, Gladio. Thank you. It is frustrating sometimes to constantly stand my ground and argue with people who insist on challenging me at every moment of my working hours. It is tiring, but every little bit helps. And I appreciate it; I appreciate You.”

Gladio doesnt respond; he swallows down, hard, and smiles at him. Genuinely.

He thinks about Ignis having to do that everyday, multiple times a day, and coming back to Nocts apartment to cook and spend time with the three of them like he hadnt gone through hell and back during the day, and it absolutely infuriates him. He remembers the day he took that oath to be a shield, to protect Noct with his life, but as the years go on, he finds himself unwittingly adding more and more people under that umbrella; specifically the two other people lounging in Nocts apartment. And suddenly, hes hit with that feeling, the same one that he had whenever he had his heart-to-hearts with Noctis; that burning need to aggressively protect these people. Because theyve all got a rough road ahead of them, and the last thing they should be worrying about is dickheads running amok in the citadel.

i already posted these images that don't really have much context i just wanted to ramble about my aspec ocs haha

They started out as a typical romantic type relationship. but the more i changed and redefined their characters the more they turned into the queerplatonic type. i sometimes feel nervous depicting or labelling their relationship as such because. i don't know if i'm doing this right, like it feels like how i normally ship characters. until i realise i have always been shipping characters in a quite qpr sense 🗿 how should i know i wasn't seeing shipping in actual romance lenses like the alloallos see it lmao.

anyway, back to the aeris. the 🔔🍓. the uh, idk, berry of night. nightberry.

noctis has always been in the aroace spectrum. I'm not sure when she finds out, maybe in her tertiary education years through the internet. she probbly has attended an aspec meetup, but never really brings it up to anyone in her life because she never gets that close to anyone anyway, she has lived mostly by herself in adulthood.

aeron on the other hand started out as openly bi. even if he technically never had a relationship in his teen years, and kinda avoided it by just,, unintentionally friendzoning people who took interest. he'd been called oblivious because of not realising romantic connotations or that his words/actions could be misread as flirting. when most of the time he thought he was just being friendly. the last year of school was when he did get into a relationship, although his feelings were kinda manipulated and he had thought that was what he wanted. He managed to get out of the relationship tho.

That point in adulthood he started getting more involved in dating and such. In some part because of peer/societal pressure, and because he thought that was just how it goes. Meeting someone and then getting along and being close can lead to romantic relationships forming which then you work to make each other happy. which is true but he didn't knew there were actual specific feelings that would usually influence this decision. he enjoys hugs, but kissing, hand holding, touching and other intimacy does not usually bring any sort of emotion in him. and he would mostly do it for his partners. though none of his relationships last that long, and it always ends with him being left confused.

I think some time later he does suspect him to be somewhere aro/ace tho never put much thought into it because he doesn't like the thought of living his entire life by himself. i guess, like, he has a lot of friends but he realised at the end of the day, those people have someone they prioritise above all else, and while his close friends would treat their friendship as important, they wouldn't view their friendship in the same level as him. ah, like, yknow, romantic relationships always being put as more important than friendships. not inherently a bad thing because that's just what partners are, but still, he gets sad to think that his friendships won't be the same closeness as how he sees it.

aight so cut to noctis and aeron meeting each other and becoming friends. I have, somewhat their first meeting figured out, and it's funny to think that even before I saw koisenu futari, the idea was that they met at a grocery store. maybe you really do meet your fellow aro/aces at the local grocery store produce aisle lmao /j. anyway their workplace is also in the same block (?) so they could've seen each other again and just, idk get lunch at the same place and then meet and talk and eventually became friends. noctis didn't really expect it but for aeron it's a normal occurrence cuz, it's mostly easy for him to make new acquaintances.

idk how the topic of qpr would surface, but maybe, idk, aeron would complain about relationships, after experiencing yet another misunderstanding that he led someone on and that people around him maybe making comments on him getting older but still having no one or whatever. i think his parents are understanding and don't pressure him but maybe also think he's focusing too much on work that, unintentionally, are making him feel pressured. noctis doesn't really have any connection to their family anymore nor does she have any close connections aside from a few coworkers. the conversation would probably lead to noctis going on a rant about romance and like, amatonormativity, and maybe end with them like, saying they do think about the luxury of having someone they can return to, but her disconnection with love and romance always put her back to not wanting to pursue anything. it's never been an importance to her anyway but like, she already accepts that she would never have that.

and idk since noctis is used to staying closeted, the whole sudden thing made her hyperaware of what she just said but like, i guess that resonated with aeron and it just, led to him talking about his experiences and question his identity and stuff. i guess noctis would like, suggest he look more into aromanticism and asexuality and maybe like, one-off come out that she is aroace. i lowkey want to go the koisenu futari route but also i can try a different thing. anyway i think aeron would be the one to bring up being platonic partners and eeeeeee i can't think anymore i'll think about it later

Regis laughs when Cor reaches his limit and just tosses Noct cause he's been on the side of those claws and that chirping multiple times. Jokes on him though cause now Noct will climb him expecting to be thrown if he can't find his favorite climbing tree. On that note though, imagine Noctis trying to climb the glavies as well, just anyone he can get his little claws in because he's learning how to climb and everyone should be proud of him. So he starts climbing anyone

The chirping is 100% Cor’s fault, no other big cat does it quite like that. It’s enough to make Regis cackle at the problem Cor made for himself.

Regis only wishes to be left out of the climbing thing. As a human, it actually kinda hurts. At least he can blame this new bad habit of Noctis’ on Cor.

Imagine Regis talking with the Glaives and them watching as this cub Prince climbs up the King’s leg. And then the King just, plucks him off and throws him. He just... threw his own child. It’s enough to make Drautos stutter into silence. Of course, then Noctis tries climbing up a Glaive’s leg, and the Glaive has no idea what to do. The King turns and tells them to ‘throw him like I did. He enjoys it’. The Glaive complies with much reluctance.

Noctis is ecstatic.

He has to climb everyone now! See! He’s a good clouded leopard, he’s really good at climbing!

Im back at it again with the plotless promptis fics.

Bear with me, I havent had a lot of good ideas, but I think after this I might try a multi-chapter fic. (Probably wont stop me from writing this bs, because sometimes you just wanna write a oneshot, yknow?)

Sorry if it kinda sucks, I just wanted to write something to try to bring my motivation back.

Title: Sleepy Eyes Filled With Flashing Colors Rating: G Warnings: N/A Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14174535 Summary: Noctis and Prompto watch a horror movie together, and they act kinda gay in the process.

“C’mon Prom, this one’s not even that scary.”

“Says you. Horror movies don’t scare you at all.”

“But this one’s actually good. I think you’ll like it for the plot.”

“I’d rather watch it when I’m not going to sleep right after, and also preferably not when it’s already really dark out.”

“You’re no fun.”

Noctis proceeds to play the movie anyway. He knows Prompto has been interested in seeing the movie, but he also knows that he’ll never watch it unless he’s not alone. He sits down on the couch next to Prompto, shoving a bowl of popcorn in his lap. Prompto gives him a look that is dangerously close to a pout.

“What? You’ve been wanting to see it. If we don’t watch it now, then who knows how long it’ll be until you do.”

He sighs, “Why do you do this to me?”

Noct laughs. “Shh, it’s starting.”

The opening scene starts out seemingly harmless, but Prompto finds himself inching closer to Noctis from the anticipation.

The woman in the movie starts walking to the backroom to turn out the lights, and suddenly a black figure appears in the room with her.

“What the fuck?” Prompto says.

She turns the lights back on to check if anyone is there and doesn’t find anyone else in the room with her.

Prompto jumps and grabs Noct’s arm when she turns the lights back off and finds the dark figure standing closer to her than before. Noctis seems unaffected by the jump-scare, and instead just giggles at his boyfriend’s jumpiness.

“I hate you.”

Throughout the next scene, Prompto finds himself half hugging Noctis while hiding behind him, involuntarily jumping at certain parts.

“Holy shit, she just killed him…?”

“Mhm.”

“What the fuck even is she? How does she appear in the dark like that?”

“Just watch.”

Prompto relaxes against the couch, or really tries to. They just sit together silently watching the movie for a while, but because Noctis has seen it before, he starts to become less engaged in the story. He reaches for the bowl, still in Prompto’s lap, and starts boredly eating some popcorn. Prompto hasn’t really touched any yet, probably because he’s just that into the movie.

Noctis looks at him. He doesn’t seem to notice, which is unsurprising.

He has a funny look on his face, like he’s trying to focus on what’s happening on the screen, but at the same time seems almost afraid to. It’s almost one in the morning, so his eyes look tired. If he wasn’t watching a horror movie, Noctis is sure that Prompto would nearly be passed out by now.

He realizes that he should probably continue watching the movie, but he’d rather watch Prompto reacting to it. He just really likes his face; Prompto’s face is pleasing to look at, and he can’t help staring at him sometimes. Noctis especially loves his freckles. He could look at them for hours trying to find patterns in them, connecting them with an imaginary line using his mind’s eye.

His eyes scan over Prompto’s, which have become bloodshot from fatigue. If he catches himself staring at his eyes for long enough, he’ll notice the tiny reflection of the TV screen in them, multiple colors flashing shiny over a violet base.

Noctis suddenly feels like getting his attention. He takes a piece of popcorn and throws it in Prompto’s face, just slightly startling him. He glares at Noct.

“Want some popcorn?” Noctis smirks.

Prompto proceeds to grab a small handful of popcorn just to chuck it in the prince’s face.

Noct pouts.

“Yeah, I’ll have some.” He takes another handful of popcorn, and this time he actually

eats it. Noctis catches the pieces that don’t quite make it into his mouth.

“Don’t make a giant mess. We won’t wanna clean it.” He giggles.

The blonde boy just laughs, struggling to chew all of the popcorn. Noctis pulls him closer, plants a kiss on his boyfriend’s jaw, and lets him continue watching the movie.

After several calm minutes, Noctis feels himself getting tired.

They had reached a point where there were less scary scenes and more development of the actual plot. He wants to rest his head against Prompto’s shoulder, but considering how jumpy he is, it might not be as comfortable as he’d like. He decides to lie down next to Prompto instead. He rests his eyes, while still listening to the movie.

Once another scary scene commences, he doesn’t have to look at the screen or even bother listening to know, because he can feel Prompto’s involuntary jumps.

“You’re really jumpy.” He teases.

“Because it’s spooky, Noct. Stop attacking me.” He grabs Noct’s shirt, which indicates to Noctis that another part of the intense scene is happening.

He hears Prompto mutter curse words under his breath, and opens his eyes to glance at the TV. They finally got to the last big scene of the movie.

At this point, Noctis is almost falling asleep, with Prompto’s comments being the only thing keeping him somewhat aware of what’s going on in the movie.

“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. What the fuck, was she in there with him the whole time?!? Holy shit!! ”

Noctis shifts a bit, glancing at the scene, and then closing his eyes again.

“Nooct…” Prompto whined.

“Hm?” Noctis, sleepily, responds.

“It’s scary. ”

Noctis would laugh at him, but he’s too tired for that.

“C’mere.” He reaches for his boyfriend’s shoulders and pulls him down to let him lie on his chest. Prompto repositions himself so he can comfortably see the screen.

Something happens on screen again, and he feels Prompto jump again from the loud noise, and possibly from something that popped up on the screen.

“What the fuck, I can’t believe he did that . Ohmygod, ohmygod. ” Prompto hides his face in Noct’s neck. “Is the movie almost done, yet?”

“Almost.” He shakes the shoulder Prompto is leaning against. “Watch it.”

As the movie comes to an end, Prompto becomes significantly calmer. Noctis actually feels the tension leave his body. The credits finally roll as he starts rubbing circles into Prompto’s back.

“What’d you think of it?”

“I guess I liked it. That was an interesting ending. I think I would have enjoyed it more if we watched it during the day, though.”

“You’re just a scaredy-cat.”

“You wanna fight me?” Prompto asks, with almost no emotion.

“Never.”

They lie there for a few minutes, ignoring the credits. Prompto moves to tuck his head under Noct’s neck and tangle their legs together. The taller boy feels along the couch for the remote, and turns the TV off.

“You should go take your contacts out.” Noctis comments.

“Too lazy.” He says, “I’m comfortable.”

“Too bad.” Noct sits up and Prompto groans in response. “You’re gonna end up falling asleep with them in.”

“But the hallway is dark.” He whines. “Come with me.”

“What? You afraid Diana’s gonna come out of the dark and get you?”

Prompto punches Noct’s shoulder.

“You know I hate the dark anyway.”

Noct pushes his boyfriend up off the couch, and follows him to the bathroom. Prompto feels the wall and quickly turns on the light when he finds the lightswitch. He washes his hands, opens his contact lense case, which he dropped off next to the sink earlier in the day, and he begins the process of taking his contacts out.

Noctis leans against the doorframe, and watches him expertly use two fingers to pinch the contact to take it out.

“How do you do that everyday?”

Prompto shrugs. “You get used to it.”

When he starts cleaning his contacts, Noctis remembers how tired he is. He goes into the bedroom and dives under the covers. He’s vaguely aware that he’s taking up most of the bed, but he figures Prompto can just move him when he comes in.

He’s almost asleep when he hears the door closing. The lamp on his desk gets turned off, leaving the nightlight, in the wall next to the bed, the only light source. Prompto climbs over his body to lie between him and the wall. He grabs Noct’s arm and wraps it around himself.

“I’m not gonna be able to fall asleep now, and it’s all your fault.” He whispers, already sounding on the verge of falling asleep.

“You’re silly.” Noct slurs. “Just go to sleep. I’ll keep you safe from the monsters.”

“You better.”

The arm around Prompto tightens as Noct shifts to get more comfortable, his head resting against his boyfriend’s shoulder.

He’s really tired, and he knows it’s the kind where you feel so exhausted that it’s almost difficult to fall asleep. They should have started the movie earlier, but he wanted to finish playing the new Assassin’s Creed game with Prompto first.

He unconsciously starts rubbing the edge of Prompto’s other shoulder with his thumb. When he finally thinks he’s about to fall asleep, he hears a whisper.

“Hey, Noct?”

“Hm?”

“I love you.”

“Love you, too.”

He feels him kiss his forehead, which isn’t really a kiss because Prompto’s so tired that his lips are mostly slack against his skin. But it’s the thought that counts.

He passes out right when he begins to feel rhythmic breathing from the body next to him.
