Crying because Takahashi really thought that if they no longer lived together their relationship would just disappear like they never met - that if he pursued his dream they would both be alone in the world again. He values the family they built so much that he was willing to sacrifice his dream just to hold on to it. It never crossed his mind that Sakuko would still want to be a family with him even if they lived apart. He didn’t think he could have both - his life was always a game of sacrifice, of concessions “if you want this you can’t have this other thing”, but here Sakuko is telling him it’s ok for him to go after what makes him happy. The relationship they have will not disappear, they will always be family.

Something related to the misunderstanding of what demiromanticism & demisexuality is / how it works. (slightly offtopic but i learned there's an term that includes both [demian] tho i prefer demi² ngl lol)
also. before i get into it, i just understood what angled aroace is, which might be what aeron would fall under, but idk man i'm too lazy to think rn.
ok now— the scenario. since atm at least, aeron is bi demiromantic demisexual, some of the friends who knows about them and are just starting to learn would ask a question like, 'what if you fall in love' or whatever of that variety.
disclaimer i'm not sure what would be the typical amatonormative mindset of people who experience romantic attraction would have, so i'm not sure if i'm exaggerating lol.
anyway, Aeron. probably him explaining the meaning (attraction only with people he has an emotional connection to) and then the other person asking something along the lines of "So you love Noctis?". I'm writing in Q n A form lmao it's hard to think of how to explain.
Q: What's that.
A: Basically it means I can only be attracted to someone I've an emotional connection with.
Q: So, you're in love with Noctis?
A: Uh no, I'm not. Just because I can, doesn't mean I am. That's like saying you're attracted to a gender so you like everyone of that gender. In that case gender is the.. factor, while in my case the emotional bond.
Q: Okay I get that but, I mean, isn't that just how it is? People falling in love after they get closer to someone.
A: That's—no, listen, it's not.. This is the attraction we're talking about. Some people who aren't demi could experience attraction regardless of emotional connection, but for me it is a requirement.
Q: Ain't that just having standards?
A: ... put it this way; what if someone who you've been close for a long time, maybe someone you're in a committed relationship with, tells you that they don't love you, they've never fallen in love with you and are not in love with you?
A: No, no.. you can choose your partner and still fall in love with them before you've had any emotional connection. Even if you only develop your feelings later, for me it's not that I *will*, it's that I *can*.
Q: Okay, okay, back to Noctis. You're in this relationship because you love her, right?
A: It's platonic.
Q: Yeahhh, I know. Still, you have an emotional bond with her, so it's essentially the same as how a romantic relationship is. You get what I mean?

“i don’t regret falling for you” is the exact thing that sakuko has been needing to hear. she’s spent so long feeling bad for things outside of her control and convincing herself that it’s all been her fault, and for someone whom she feels like she’s hurt irreparably to say no, i hurt you too, and while i regret pressuring you to do things you were uncomfortable with i don’t regret the act of falling in love with you because you’ve long been and will continue to be an important person to me and that transcends the labels we put on our relationship to one another
