Hc that stone demons age differently than any other being, a stone demon could have existed for 500 years or so but in stone demon anatomy they're only like 5
On that note, SWK became king as a newborn, he was a baby during his training with Patriarch Puti, Heaven's army got obliterated by a toddler and he was either a teen or a pre-teen during JTTW (bc I want him to be older than Ao Lie)

Can I ask with the Macaque is spared AU, why do you make him so childish and adorable every single time?!

Glad you asked! I do have a reason for it
With his true form revealed, the six eared macaque becomes timid and withdrawn. He prefers to only speak when addressed, and does so quietly. A stark contrast to his near-perfect imitation of the witty and abrasive monkey king!
This is because he finds comfort in playing the part of someone more confident than himself. He has a knack for theatrics, and really knows how to get into the mind of the ‘characters’ he plays.
Sun Wukong is an especially entertaining muse. Macaque had to perfect more than his personality to properly imitate him.

Eyes say a lot abt a person
Pretend it hasn't been like 6 months since I've posted here <3 also! Look under here for more specific hcs :] I considered doing these for other lmk characters one like and I'll do it (eventually) 😎
Wukong
-His eyes were gold when he was born, but after his time in the heavenly brazer they stayed red (this is jttw canon but isn't included in lmk 😔)
- I draw his eyebrows way shorter and w the same curl shape as his tightening headband- plus more spread out white patches from lbd
- The teal liner is purely for fun, it matches his outfit but! The smokey eye look is actually a little reference to the monkey king reborn movie, it's my fav part of that design
Macaque
- His eyes are a lot more narrow and sharp than Wukong's! The "liner" is purple the aesthetic is important to him ✋️
- The biggest part is definitely the scar I cannot TELL u how long that took me,,,the scar goes up into his hairline and warps the skin past the deepest points of trauma
- He didn't lose the eye entirely but the surface was likely ripped/damaged beyond the point of return so I do hc he's completely blind out of that side (minus perception of light/shadow)

Lmk ss edits + headcanons, Part 6 (Azure Lion, Peng, Yellowtusk)
(I originally made my own design of Azure and Yellowtusk but wasn't quite happy with how they turned out so I scrapped them, the designs for those two I used in these edits were made by @/erraday_ on twt, with a few minor changes, but Peng's design is my own :) )
- He/Him
- Pansexual
- Snores so loud, it's insane, Yellowtusk once thought there was an earthquake
- Feels bad whenever he's steps on a ladybug, butterfly etc
- Gives everyone and everything giant bear hugs because he thinks if Yellowtusk can take it, so can everyone else (They cannot)
- Mei once gave him catnip as a joke and he went fucking feral, he's not allowed near catnip anymore
- His hair/fur is actually very soft and curly
- Thought he saw an old friend while out in public and hugged them, it was a stranger
- Wakes up Yellowtusk in the middle of the night to ask stupid questions
- The Brotherhood asked to hear his roar but he got really nervous last second and it ended up being really meek, they never let him forget it
- Coughed up a hairball once and Peng refuses to let him live it down
- Has eaten cat food before and would do it again
- Cannot do the splits and is too scared to try
- Gets really confused by modern slang, MK and Mei abuse the hell out of it because it's funny
- Whenever he's rough housing with people he accidentally hits a bit too hard
- Whenever he walks past anyone playing a game that involves a ball (football, basketball, netball, etc) he somehow always ends up getting hit in the head with it
- If he wasn't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid he wouldn't know what the fuck to do and would be really awkward cause he doesn't know how to interact with children, he'd be able to bond with Redson better when he becomes a teenager though
- No one gossips with him because he always ends up unintentionally outing someone about something
- Ate moldy food once by accident and freaked out, he was absolutely disgusted
- Hates horror movies but loves slashers
- Drinks mouthwash
- Smells like catnip (trust me guys)

- Has horrible bed head, his mane gets tangled really easily and he tosses around a lot at night so his mane takes hours to brush out

- Stole food from Wukong's private stash for several months when the Brotherhood was all still together, Wukong still doesn't know
- Wukong gave them cooked chicken once as a joke but he actually liked it
- Constantly argues with Wukong about Macaque not being able to hold his own, yes it got physical
- Their wings have a bunch of scars from the amount of weapons and shit they block with them. Has to consistently clean their wings in order to keep them from getting too damaged, yes this includes softening and preening his feathers
- If they weren't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid they would tape him to the wall like that one meme and call it a day
- Bit off a person's finger once just to see if they could
- Doesn't shop, just steals
- "I hate you so fucking much" as he's handing the person a gift
- Tried to draw on Wukong's face once but got wacked with his tail
- Absolutely HATES beetroot, will actually gag if he smells it

- Claims you can trust them with anything but will snitch the second they know it will benefit them

- He uses Peng's head as an armrest sometimes
- He and DBK were actually quite close, he knew and accepted that DBK was in love with a celestial but was very surprised to see they ended up having a child
- Very poor eyesight but doesn't like wearing his glasses because Peng made a joke about them once saying he looked like a grandma
- Uses ":3" and ":D"
- Loves soap opera's
- Hates seafood
- Peng once tricked him into eating fish nuggets once and he still hasn't fully forgiven them
- If he wasn't sealed away and got a chance to babysit Redson as a kid he would definitely be the most responsible one, and probably Redson's favourite uncle
- Eats a snack then forgets he ate it and will bet frustrated when he can't find it
- The therapist of the Camel Ridge Trio, and probably of the whole Brotherhood in the past as well
- Was the only one who felt bad about imprisoning the Demon Bull Family since he and DBK were very close
- He also reprimanded Peng for when they pinned and scratched Redson with their claws after they left the Demon Bull Palace (he's the protective uncle, trust me guys)
- Hates getting hiccups, he despises the feeling and it gives him heartburn
- Wakes up at ungodly hours just to raid the fridge
- Heard a story about a bug crawling in someone's ear while they slept and has worn earplugs to bed ever since
- Loves apples
- Smells like Lilies

- Is really big on safety, would be the type of person to make sure everyone is wearing their seat belts before the car is even turned on
- Actually really good at cooking

sorry this took a bit, I just had to procrastinate a little
Let’s say maybe the pilgrimage happens to pass by your home town/village and your family is kind enough to set them up for the night
Monkey might go pilfering through your room a bit, just out of curiosity
I like to think that if given a choice, Monkey prefers to sleep little to no clothes on (but he’s covered with fur so it’s not like he’s naked)
Also he snores sometimes, but it’s kinda like a white noise
If you wake up in the middle of the night, you might find him just perched on the end of your bed just watching you
Like an owl
You almost have a heart attack
“Monkey..” “Yeah?” “Can you please move somewhere else?”
If there’s a threat in the middle of the night and he has to get up to kick some demon ass, he lets you stay sleep
If you’re sharing a bed, you’ll probably wake the next morning to him snuggled up to you with an arm draped over you

I think monkey king x reader has some good potential for a start crossed/kinda-forbidden lovers thing

I actually like this concept a lot, I consider myself a sucker for kinda forbidden love scenarios. Can’t let you be having all the fun with these headcanons ;)
With this forbidden love concept, Monkey King would hold back a lot of his feelings
you being a mortal and him being the monkey king has an impact of how he sees you
you stand out so much more from other humans, he’s in absolute aw of how charming and witty you are
however, he doesn’t feel like he can ever be with you
Tripitaka doesn’t want him interfering with you either, afraid these feelings will distract Monkey King from his Journey To the West
Monkey knows the journey is important, however it hurts him every time he sees you
he’s holding back so much he wants to say to you
his ego is obviously huge, he isn’t afraid to flirt with you but he’ll never go any further than that
You’ll catch him staring at you a lot, and once you look his direction he will IMMEDIATELY look away
Just proceed with caution towards his feelings, he has a fragile heart even though he doesn’t want to show it
he’ll try any advantages to be within your presence
he might sit next to you more frequently, or just blab his mouth about how great he is just to have your attention
his stick is aware of his feelings, I’m pretty sure his stick would egg him on a lot pressuring him to tell you how he feels
but Monkey just can’t
To him it just can’t be, he doesn’t want contention with Tripitaka knowing the punishment would be a sever migraine
and you being mortal also concerns him of potential dangers he could get you in

SWK reign has demon monkeys, stone demon monkey and normal monkeys
SWK's obsidian origin came from the fact that his stone egg would be found on the crater of Flower Fruit Mountain's volcano
Stone demons hibernate and when it happens they turn into statues, when the end of the hibernation season approaches they begin to turn back to their non-statue form beginning from their insides until there's only a thin layer of rock on top of their skin
since SWK is a obsidian when the last layer of rock cracks it looks like Monkey King Reborn's Magma!SWK

So I have this little monkey king head canon
I thought I'd share this and see what you guys think since I can't find supporting evidence, but I think its neat. Do we all know the deal with the monkey kings eyes right? Blasted with smoke for 49 days in the trigram braiser causing him to get fire eyes. Now in the book they describe his fire eyes with golden pupils as an illness and we all know that's how he got his demon revealing vision. My headcanon is that due to his illness his eyes don't work very well, and that new power was a way to compensate for some minor loss of vision by giving him a new way of seeing. Again I have no evidence backing this up, I just think its neat. What do you guys think?

So in slow boiled su Wukong had no qualms about sleeping in trees. The other Pilgrims however, did. Mainly Tripitaka and, surprisingly, Wujing or Baije. Ao Lie isn't as upset about it because while visiting one of the larger cities he picked up some books on various monkeys and monkey demon species because if he is gonna be Wukong's caretaker and godfathe the wants to do it right. That's how he discovered that the reason Wukong doesn't "clean himself" nearly as much as Tripitaka thinks he should is because monkeys naturally groom each other and a dirty monkey is an unwanted and abandoned monkey. After that he starts offering to share baths with Wukong which makes the monkey unbelievably happy
Sun Wukong, the Monkey King: *has normal monkey behaviors*
Tripitaka: *has likely never seen a monkey before* "Brother, wtf?"
I feel like most of the Pilgrims weren't that up-to-date on primatology, so they honestly couldn't tell what was "normal" for their monkey bro vs what was him "misbehaving".
Theres even a scene in the Subodhi chapter where Wukong gets reprimanded harshly for jumping when he's excited. Subodhi explains to Wukong that it's considered super-rude to start jumping during class, and the monkey is so confused? Why would showing his joy be an issue?
As for bathing, most of gang (minus Tripitaka) are shameless when it comes to bathing together cus they're just bros chilling in a hot springs, but it takes a whike for them to catch on the Wukong really expects help with cleaning his fur, and he in turn helps clean them.
Zhu Bajie scoffs cus that sounds sus bro. Sha Wujing is happy to help despite his bald spots not giving the monkey much to groom back. And ofc Ao Lie fully embraces this part of Wukong's instincts since dragons have similar grooming behaviors among family. Tripitaka thinks its weird af (he dont like being touched or touching others).
In the Slow Boiled & Jttw Stone Egged aus; the gang aren't sure how to classify Wukong's behavior with the knowledge of the Stone Egg he carries. Whats monkey behavior, hormones, or just plain Wukong?

So in Lmk Wukong started holding back a Little he isn't showing all of he's powers (like let's be honest here Wukong could beat all of the villains in the show) but he isn't. So I a he'd a headcanon that after Wukong achieved nirvana he's true personality was replaced by a heroic version of himself. (think like k.o and t.k.o but reversed)
