making hera manage a space station is inhumane. she's supposed to be creating unmarketable art. post-canon hera makes like fifteen dollars a month off niche experimental multimedia poetry zines, eiffel is begging people to listen to his music on bandcamp (between an assortment of jobs that would be perfectly fine, if he could hold any of them for longer than two months), and they are both so, so lucky minkowski cares about them so much.

You have two options. You either believe in yourself and risk failure or don't believe in yourself and guarantee failure.

[Before Law can get a word in edgewise explaining how he would rather not. Luffy's gone in a whirlwind. Or a typhoon. Any natural disaster that left the land devastated in its wake. Law is left standing in the middle of the cafe, clutching his phone as the door slams shut behind Luffy, the bell ringing his exit.
Law slumps into his stool, suddenly exhausted.
“Sorry about him.” Nami says sliding into the seat that Luffy just vacated, “He’s like that. Once he takes a shine to you, that’s it. He’s all in. He has no care about whether you want to be his friend or not.”
“We’re not friends.” Law mutters. Nojiko snorts into the mug she’s drying, “I barely know him.”
“I’ve been friends with him for years and I barely know him.” Nami responds with a shrug, “That’s just Luffy. Count your blessings that he likes you. People he doesn’t like usually get punched in the face.”]

I should be working, but today brain bad. Here's a peek into my LawLu hospital AU that is never going to see the light of day because i'm a BAD person who can't finish things.

Weather?
Well the day just went from bright sun to, uh, horizontal snow? Did not see that coming.
I got a call Friday from a Lutheran church organist asking (very hoarsely) if I could play this morning's service for her. I was a church organist for more than one church when I was younger, but only fill in once a year or so now. I didn't realize until I got my adhd diagnosis at age 50 why being the organist was so darned hard for me . . you can't let your mind wander if you're required to start playing the hymns in a timely way. I couldn't believe I was the ONLY person in that church who had a mask on. I came home and washed up very, very thoroughly.
My 'best' organist story isn't technically mine; it happened to my mother. She was the organist at that same church for quite a while. They have a nice, old pipe organ. One day a wire inside shorted out. During the service. The organ caught fire (in a relatively minor way). Service stopped, everybody evacuated, the fire company had to come but I think all that really happened was somebody cut the electric to the organ and the smouldering stopped. An electrician was summoned the next week and fixed it right up. But my mother had to endure about ten year's worth of jokes about playing "hot licks" in church. Every time I play there, to this day, I finish up the postlude and think, "Well, the organ didn't catch fire this time - so it was a successful service!"

Replayed Merry Crisis and noticed the option to be a start-up company founder is no more. I usually play with that choice, so I wanted to ask if it's definitely eliminated... Just so I can start planning on how to get that 20% of Charisma again 😅
Yeah, no more start-up founder because I figured it's possible for me to add extra scenes for other career options ... but I couldn't really think of something to add for the start-up company founder.
(Next one to possibly go is soccer player... though I also was toying with the idea of making MC a profesh tennis player in Merry Crisis, just for a little cute shout-out / easter egg to CT:OS. But same problem there, whereas with post-docs and indie musicians, there are significant extra gameplay options possible.)

why are artists always expected to do things for free for "exposure" like you wouldn't ask a lawyer to work for exposure, you wouldn't ask a contractor to work on your home for exposure, you wouldn't expect a restaurent to serve you in exchange for exposure. so why when i refuse to work for free am i always told that "it's good exposure though" and i should do it because i love my job, not for the money. like. are you really trying to trick me into believe that you are doing me a favour rn?? yes i love my job, but it is also my job and i expect to be paid for it.

Finally got around to showing my long suffering gf old live shows of the mechanisms (mostly to ask questions about Gunpowder Tim's guitar) and she points at Nastya and is like "who's that one? She's very good. And pretty" so I showed her more old stuff and she was upset that she left.
