JL8 Mini: #21
This one's personal.
The last...eight months (?) have been rather stormy. The death of a parent will do that. Add all sorts of other personal trials of varying shapes and sizes, and it can start to feel like the clouds will never part. Thankfully, things have slowly but surely been getting better, and I wanted to try to capture that with my first real piece of personal art I've produced since my dad died. I don't know how successful I was, but I gave it my best shot, so I can at least feel good about that.
Again, thanks so much for your support, everyone.

Arin: Oh I hope he’s not mad
Zane: It’s okay. Believe it or not, Kai is a really nice guy. And definitely not one to hold grudges
Lloyd: How’re you gonna lie straight to the guy’s face like that?

JL8⭐
What is it: A fancomic where DC Comics characters are kindergartners, experiencing a mix of gag-a-day shenanigans and longer storylines involving their interpersonal dating drama
The Good: This is just a goddamn charming comic, and does it a good job utilizing the character's "canon" backstories quickly and effectively. It does all the things you'd expect an official DC Comic with this premise to do, but then goes above and beyond with surprisingly emotional story arcs.
The Bad: The comic is hosted on a tumblr blog that's not using a webcomic theme, making it awkward to read. There's a more readably-formatted fan-mirror here, but that appears to no longer be maintained and stops at page 270. It's also one of those "It updates when it updates" type of comics.
You should read it if: Did you see how none of my "The Bad" is about the actual comic itself? That's because JL8 is an all-time great. You should read it.

I try my best not to get slightly offended everytime I see Wonder Woman out of place from her trinity position in a Justice League lineup post (usually replaced by Flash or Green Lantern) but I fail every time. It’s not that I’m not up for alternate positioning, but tell me honestly, how often do you see Green Lantern - Batman - Wonder Woman, Superman - Flash - Wonder Woman, or just other combination of trinity position where Batman or Superman instead is replaced by another Justice League member, hmm? Because off the top of my head I genuinely cannot think of any. We have ONE (1) female founding Leaguer and she rarely gets the respect she deserves beyond lip service anyway.
By the way, BOTH suggestions I offered makes more sense anyway because Flash / Batman have their detective schtick, Green Lantern / Superman are regularly compared, so it makes sense to have occasional swap with those but tell me in what way Green Lantern or Flash have been regularly compared to Wonder Woman? Because there is none that I can think of.
