Malta pt. 2

Hari ke-empat (Kamis) ini udah mayan kerasa bingung mau ngapain dan ke mana lagi. Ini pertama kali keluar rumah agak relaxed dan siangan kayanya. Keluar jam 10-an terus getting my Henna tattoo done! Ini akan ada episod lanjutannya sih, tapi intinya adalah setelah hampir 2 minggu dipasang, ternyata si black henna ini ngasih allergic reaction jadi gatel-gatel dan burned gitu my hands HUHU. Untungnya tapi my henna ilangnya cepet sih (ini karena tangan w pas lagi summer gini getting super dry so I use A LOT of moisturizer) jadi reaction sama skinnya nggak terlalu lama dan parah efeknya. Kemarin nelp GP cuma disuruh diolesin hydrocortisone 1% aja dan setelah 3 hari sudah less itchy sekarang. Anyhowwwww, iya, ini kami ber-ide pake henna tattoo juga gara-gara ngikutin Jimin sama JK di BV huf. Oh iya, hasil dari googling juga ternyata baru tau kalau black henna illegal di UK karena bisa ngasih allergic reaction (exactly what happened to me and Nadia).

Beres dari pasang henna, kami masuk ke St. John’s co-cathedral. Joon Hoseok Suga dan Jin juga masuk ke sini soalnya. BAGUS banget di dalamnya….. setelah itu lanjut makan siang di D’Office. Ini juga salah satu restaurant yang dikunjungi oleh Jimin dan JK first day they came to Malta. Mereka makan rabbitnya (daging rabbit adalah national Maltese food, kemarin dapat komen di facebook juga dari Abiq kalau konsumsi kelinci terbesar di dunia adalah di Malta). Terus asli dari beres makan siang bingung banget mau ke mana. Akhirnya kami memutuskan untuk nyebrang ke Sliema naik ferry dan kemudian took a taxi to LOVE statue di St. Julian’s.

We are…. not a fan of St. Julian’s… it’s very busy dan crowded. Dan sama hilly-nya as Valletta, but with more buildings. Vibe-nya betul-betul kayak kalau lagi jalan di sekitaran Tanah Abang gitu. Dan emang di sini yang dijual lebih ke night lifenya sih. Makanya banyak young people stay here for vacation. Beres foto di LOVE statue, kami memutuskan buat mencari tempat ngadem: mall! Jadi kami jalan ke mall dan ternyata mall-nya semi-outdoor gitu jadi nggak yang adem banget juga. Terus yaudah deh jadi kami memutuskan untuk pulang aja ke bnb buat istirahat dan ngadem…

Malemnya kami makan di Porticello. Ini restoran yang posisinya lebih dekat ke bnb-nya Bangtan. ASLI. MAKANANNYA ENAK BANGET HUHU. Emang secara harga jauh lebih mahal dari semua restoran yang pernah kita visit di Malta. But harga ya memang tidak bohong. We had octopus for starter, lalu king prawn dan calamary for mains. For dessert we also ordered a Pannacotta YANG SANGAT ENAK JUGA. Pokoknya sangat senang malam ini tuh. Memang kalau makanan enak membuat hati bahagia tu benar adanya ya.

Hari ke-lima aka hari terakhir (Jumat)! Mayan sedih karena harus meninggalkan Malta… tapi di satu sisi juga cannot wait to wake up to cool air that is UK air. Masalah pertama di hari ini muncul dari fakta bahwa our flight is pretty late (21.50 pm) tapi nggak ada tempat naroh luggage. Akhirnya mencari tempat naroh luggage lah kami pagi-pagi. Ada loker otomatis yang kita bayar di kiosk gitu, akhirnya naroh koper di situ lah kami. Mayan mahal 20EUR for 10 hours(?). Terus dari situ kami pesan bolt buat ke Mdina. Tentu saja karena Bangtan ke situ juga dan tempat ini juga adalah lokasi shootingnya Kings Landing Game of Thrones (I was a HUGE fan of Cersei Lannister). Mdina ini semacam “keraton” jaman dulu gitu lah ya. Tempat tinggal aristocrat di atas hill dan ada gate-nya gitu. Kalau di AOT macam inner wall si Wall Sinna gitu lah ya (not me memasukkan AOT reference in this post). Kami sampe sana jam 9am teng dan masih sangat sepi, suka banget. Mau ke café Fontanella Tea Garden (Bangtan mau makan di situ karena rame tapi gajadi) tapi baru buka jam 10am. Akhirnya to kill time, kami masuk ke Natural Histrory Museum-nya Malta. We wrote our names there in the guest book lolz. Museum geologi Bandung jauh lebih bagus dari si museum Malta ini sih. Tapi cukup senang karena bisa lihat batuan, mineral, dan fosil-fosil Malta.

Jam 10 si Fontanella buka, karena mayan panas, akhirnya w pesan iced coffee. Dah bosen duduk-duduk di situ, kami memutuskan buat balik ke Valletta aja to have late lunch there. Karena gabut nunggu lunch akhirnya kami duduk-duduk di Upper Barakka garden aja yang lama, terus had lunch di D’office (lagi). This time I ordered the Rabbit stew! Yang adalah Maltese national food? Tadi dapet komen di Fesbuk juga dari Abiq terkait Malta sebagai konsumer kelinci no 1 di dunia, tapi karena ku gatau how rabbit should tastes like (Cuma pernah makan sate kelinci di Tawangmangu doang sebelumnya), jadi ku gatau juga si stew yg kumakan ini enak apa nggak… Tapi ya intinya rabbit emang muscular banget kan, jadi jujur dagingnya nggak banyak.

Kami stay di D’office selama hampir 3 jam, duduk-duduk di Upper Barrakka lagi dan kemudian memutuskan untuk ambil luggage lalu ke airport. Asli tapi ini udah enak banget sih yang betul-betul relaxed mikir “hmm kemana lagi ngapain lagi ya kita” menandakan ku sangat puas dan sudah tahu Valletta at least dengan cukup baik. Sampe airport jam 17.30pm-an terus nungguin our flight yang masih 4 jam lagi lolz. OH! Kebetulan banget pas 10 Juni itu si PROOF keluar, jadi sambil nungguin bag drop, kami duduk-duduk aja di Costa nontonin Yet to Come dan dengerin Run BTS sampe bosen. Jujur ku senang banget hari terakhir ini banyak gabut dan duduk-duduknya.

Boarding pesawatnya mayan telat, sempat nonton 1 episod Tomorrow di lounge bandara. Setelah boarding pun kayanya kami masih harus nunggu di pesawat for 1 hour deh karena kata si pilotnya belum dapat ijin buat masuk Gatwick nanti. Berujung baru took off jam 23pm waktu Malta dan landed di UK jam 1am? Imigrasi mayan lancar cuma ditanya lagi sekolah apa di UK… naik bis ke Oxford jam 2 pagi dan sampai rumah jam 4.30 am. It’s FREEZING cold. Seharian itu Sabtu kayanya betulan tidur doang ga ngapa-ngapain lagi. Baru unpack koper hari Selasa apa ya… lolz emang pemalas. Oh gara-gara Minggu-nya bantuin acara ulangtahunnya Bu Yani dan Pak Bambang kan.

Seperti yang kubilang di earlier post, jujur not too bad. Karena awalnya kupikir akan habis sampe £1k-an. Sekarang lagi siap-siap ngeplan dan booking nanti Oktober pas ku balik Indo akan trip 5d4n juga tapi ke Spore dan KL sama Mama Papa Mita. Kalau trip sendirian masih berasa murah, nah gatau nih kalau ngetrip sekeluarga; bakal se-habis apa duit saya. Tapi gapapalah udah lama banget juga ga trip ber-4… kapan lagi…

Ini 2 postingan betul-betul took 14 hari aka 2 minggu to make (to give you gambaran se-lambat apa w kerja). Tapi kalau mau ngasih excuse sih karena ngerjain banyak hal juga… salah satunya MOSAIC! Ini mah nanti postingannya terpisah aja yes…

Tapi yasudah sekiannnn! Cukup senang karena postingan ini akhirnya naik juga setelah 2 minggu!!!

𝐌𝐢 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐥 𝐊-𝐏𝐨𝐩

Realmente escuché una canción Kpop a mediados del 2012, pero fue en realidad por la canción GANGNAM STYLE de PSY, que en ese momento ni sabía que era Kpop, yo solo la baile por moda y era pegadiza, porque negarlo, era pequeña, tenía 9 años, así que no le tome tanta importancia...

Y fue en realidad en el 2017, tenía 14 años, fue cuando entré a trabajar con una amiga de colegio, y a ella le gustaba el K-Pop junto a su hermana menor, y cuando iba a su casa, ella ponía a BTS y TWICE, y puso algunos más pero no recuerdo exactamente cuáles. Pero recuerdo que el primer video que vi fue el dance practice de Halloween de BTS de la canción 21st Century Girls, y realmente me gustó, me reí, pero no le di más importancia, no sentía todavía aquella "llamada".

Pero poco a poco, cada que iba a su casa ponía un video nuevo, ya después de 1 año, para el 2018, recuerdo que literalmente me obsesione, super loca por FAKE LOVE, y la escuchaba a cada segundo, pero no más, solo esa canción de BTS, en ese momento solo me aprendí el nombre de JK no me aprendí el de los demás. Pero, yo seguía escuchando de ellos debido a que mis amigas de promoción también eran fan de BTS, y hasta por videollamada me hicieron un unboxing del álbum MOTS: PERSONA y yo estaba como: "¿Que demonios me estan mostrando?".

No sabía que era realmente, solo que era un álbum y listo, pero ya cuando empezó la pandemia en mi país y fuimos a confinamiento, para el 2020, todos lo sabemos, me dije..."Vale, tengo tiempo y tendré 3 meses (que luego se hizo un año) en lo que tendré para investigar sobre BTS"

Me puse a buscar todo tipo de información para poder saber porque gustaba a todo el mundo, o al menos a la mitad de ellos y ellas, y de verdad entre solo por curiosidad, solo para saber, y al final, para Junio del mismo año, termine siendo ARMY.

Claramente me sentía mal porque llevaba muy poco tiempo con ellos y me maldecia por estar en el 2013 viendo a la Anna de Frozen que viendo el debut de BTS.

Fue en ese entonces, para junio, que se me abrió las puertas al K-Pop y no solo a mi, si no también a mí hermanita que se hizo fan de BP, y que luego mi mamá también se hizo fan de BTS.

Y esta es una mini historia de como ella se hizo fan.

Al principio, como toda madre, se le hizo super raro que me pusiera a escuchar a "los chinos esos" como ella los llamaba en ese entonces, ahora son sus "hijitos", pero bueno. Ella un día, después que le diera todas las razones por las que BTS había cambiado mi vida, como me había hecho sanar (cabe recalcar que el 2020 no había sido mi mejor año, y en realidad algunas partes de mi vida no lo habian sido) ella empezó a escuchar el transfondo de las canciones y sus significados, convirtiéndose poco a poco en ARMY. Aunque no son los unicos grupos, cada que yo le moestraba una canción a ella terminaba gustandoles, pero sus hijitos siempre seran BTS.

Ya para en aquel entonces otras canciones empezaron a aparecer en Youtube y las empecé a escuchar, siendo mi 2do grupo stan, los chicos de TXT con su video Run Away para agosto, pero lamentablemente ya tenían 1 año de debut cuando yo los empecé a escuchar, aunque eso no me impide amarlos muchisimo, porque sin duda son unos lindos chicos, super guapos y super tiernos.

Al poco tiempo, yo empecé a stanear a TWICE y a ITZY, me enamore de todas las chicas. La primera canción de TWICE, si no me equivoco fue LIKEY, y se me pego muchisimo; así mismo de ITZY fue Wannabe.

Casi para finales del año la MNET, junto con la HYBE sacaron un programa de supervivencia llamada "I-LAND" y cuando lo vi, me enamoré de muchos de los participantes, pero Sunoo era mi fav por lo tierno que se veía. En realidad me encariñe con todos y al poco tiempo estaba súper pegada junto a mi mamá viendo el programa, hasta la final de dónde salieron mis chiquitos de ENHYPEN. Realmente a los chicos les tengo un sumo cariño debido a que son el primer grupo que vi desde pre-debut, desde que eran pequeños y todavía me pongo a llorar cuando veo la final cuando todos cantan la canción final, hasta el corazón se me acelera, y cuando los veo en fotos, notando todo lo que han logrado y crecido, me siento como...no se, súper orgullosa y feliz, como una madre. Y cuando debutaron... Uffff, super emocionada.

Ese mismo noviembre conocí a los chicos de SKZ, y fue con la canción GOD'S MENU que quede impactada, realmente me gustaron, y el primero que me atrajo fue Jeongin, aunque los nombres de Feliz y Hyunjin ya me sonaba, al final y actualmente no puedo elegir, aunque Minho me esta haciendo ojitos.

Pero ya ingresando al 2021, seguí encontrando más grupos que me gustaron, y fue cuando llegó AESPA, para mayo del 2021, con la canción NEXT LEVEL que dije: "Aww estas chicas, que lindo cantan, voy a investigar quiénes son" fue cuando descubrí que estaba en la SM, y bueno. Las 4 chicas me parecen super lindas.

De la misma SM salió el grupo que me gustó, pero que había debutado hace 15 años...Sip...SUPER JUNIOR, me gustan ellos, no soy súper Stan porque realmente son 15 años que perdí, pero realmente me gustan. Y todo empezó con Eunhyuk o Hyukjae... y es que yo llegue a ver Weekly Idol y me dije: " Vaya que guapo es, voy a ver cómo se llama" y fue ahí cuando descubrí todo.

Estuve encontrando más grupos, y uno de los factores fueron los Doramas, en ese momento, que estaba viendo TRUE BEAUTY, y Chae Eunwoo estaba allí, y yo: "Que lindo chico" me puse también a investigar quien era, fue cuando descubrí que también estaba en un grupo, ASTRO pero para ese entonces no estaba teniendo tanto tiempo para hacer stan así que lo deje. Hasta... Otra vez, Weekly Idol, hubo un capítulo especial en el que aparecieron San Ha con Moonbin y Yo Han con Dong Ha y unos chicos de Cravity y bueno, me gustó y me dije: "Yo los staneo porque lo hago". Fue así como también llegue a ser AROHA

Del mismo modo, como ya mencioné, también habian aparecido Yo Han y Dong Ha, y fue que descubri que también estaban en el grupo WEi y... También me puse a stanearlos, realmente me gustaron, y no me sentí tan mal porque tenían poco tiempo de debut pero eran geniales, y fue con BYE BYE BYE con la canción la cual me enamore.

Todo en noviembre.

Fue del mismo momento, ya para diciembre, las chicas de IVE debutan y yo... Super emocionada, y si, también me enamoré de esas lindas chicas, aunque del mismo modo, sabia que Wooyoung y Yujin ya estaban en el ex-grupo IZ*ONE y que hbaia sido un gran grupo.

Ya para el 2022, seguí, pero con un grupo que había dejado atrás, debido a cantidad, proviniendo también de la SM... NCT.

Realmente quería hacerlo, pero quede impresionada al saber que podían llegar a ser hasta 40, pero me dije: "¿Cuando la cantidad te detuvo, mujer?". Actualmente todavía estoy aprendiendo sobre los chicos, que hay un camino súper largo por recorrer pero se que será bueno y hermoso.

Del mismo modo, hace nomás, unos pocos meses ATEEZ también conquistó mi corazón, y también estoy empezando a stanearlos, y aunque también me falta camino, me encantan, y como siempre, nunca puedo tener un bias porque siempre termino enamoradas de todos y todas.

Recientemente TEMPEST hizo su debut, y los ame, se veian super lindos, ademas son otro grupo que segui desde los comienzos y me gusta muchisimo.

Por el momento esos son los grupos que staneo, lo cual no significa que no escuche canciones de otros Boys o Girls groups, incluso de solistas.

Actualmente estoy en la espera de los chicos de HYBE JAPAN, el nombre temporal de mis chicos, los chicos de THE ORIGIN y los chicos de TNX.

Hasta ahora no me arrepiento de stanear a todos los grupos que mencione, se que no serán los únicos, que posiblemente abran más, pero mi corazón realmente está súper feliz con todos y todas mis decisiones.

BOOK REVIEW: THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO BY @patricknessbooks Okay, I am NGL, the first book in the series literally took me ages to finish. I don’t know if I was in a reading slump or just not in the mood to read this specific book but it took me 3 months + to finish it!! It was insanely long and a tad bit exhausting but your sis powered through! 💪🏻 Disclaimer though, the story is not boring at all, it doesn’t drag and the action picks up right from the beginning but yea I was in some kind of funk so… What really surprised me and I had a lot of trouble getting along with it were the spellings. The narrator of the story, Todd, can’t read or write hence spellings like affecshun instead of affection. Also so much is going on and you’re just confusion!!!?!? I loved this anniversary edition because it has pages like this (swipe) – a messy representation of what noise looks like. It’s a little daunting but I loved it! I thought I wouldn’t like the book and might have to DNF for later but I did and OMG NO ONE TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO BE SAD!!!! *ugly crys* I went in completely blind as in I didn’t know this was a sci fi novel. We are on an unknown planet where there are no women and the men can hear each other’s thoughts which is called the “noise.” Meaning if you think it, everyone hears it, but with so many thoughts cause you know “men think a lot” (not!) its chaos! Todd is the only boy in all the manly settlement and is soon going to become a man. But Todd finds a girl (Viola) a few days before his birthday and his world is turned upside down. The women on this planet don’t have noise so you can’t hear their thoughts. I liked Todd, he was the cutest, softest and stupidest teenage boy ever! He was awesome. I adopted him as my fictional son! Overall, this book surprised me because you are confusion till page 150 and even then it’s filled with WHYs and WAHAT? And OH NOs! Solid 4/5. The movie was a disappointment, as usual. Only watched it for Tom Holland because he made the perfect Todd! I was tagged by @hardworkingprocrastinator aka @rupru-russiaxprussia whom I do believe I ranted with about the Imperial Pair ship, and the unexpected potential of Si Yang x Qi Ying… so thanking you kindly for another excuse to rave about ChinaPuri… sooo uhhh time for some fun times!!

Warning: I have not watched or read the original manga/anime soooooo I’m in an even smaller subset of the fandom babeyyyy!!! It has also been a couple months since I watched the show, so there is a strong chance I’ll have forgotten names and situations, and just general thoughts I have... BUT WHATEVER time to rant to the thirteen people who’ve watched ChinaPuri!!!

1. Favorite character(s)?

MU SI YANG BABEYYYYY!!! I already love a stoic glasses boi, but Mu Si Yang (again not TeniPuri Tezuka, just ChinaPuri Si Yang) may be one of my favourite takes on the stoic glasses boi… like I don’t often enjoy live action versions of anime, especially because the acting is never the best (and granted this one too, had some okay performances) but the guy who plays Mu Si Yang melted my heart… he was the stony-faced serious captain, who could deliver a subtle joke that left you snickering… but he was also the determined, earnest, crazy talented leader with his own hidden struggles who just wanted to take his team and friends as far as they go into competition… which is an essential part of any good sports drama… and he captured it so perfectly… and I love him.. he’s so beautiful too… I would fall in love with him in a heartbeat, and I don’t often say that about characters (like I love them but never in love ya dig?)

Zhou Zhi was a close favourite…basically I just love the two genius senpais…

2. Favorite school team(s)?

Oh god… Yu Feng maybe? We spend the most time with them, they have the most screen time of all the other teams…we have a whole training arc where they’re continuously winning against the struggling to evolve Yu Qing…very reminiscent of the Karasuno-Nekoma rivalry in that they help each other get better… I would’ve loved to see the rivalry/camaraderie develop even more so that when Si Yang leaves, the relief at having this network of tennis friends would’ve been that much more powerful…

Also I really enjoy Xu Ziping’s hustle… I love the story of Yu Feng…they had a shitty coach and had to make a deal to keep winning in order to even remain an official team… and when Yu Qing faced Yu Feng, I really couldn’t tell who I wanted to root for because I knew there was real weight behind every loss for Yu Feng…

After that, maybe No. 6… they’re so chill, they’re not straining for each win and just enjoying their time on the court…and the Old Coach dude was a great character to introduce...

3. Favorite coach(es)?

Maybe No. 6’s coach… I legit can’t remember his name but he oozes skill and experience without all the stress of younger coaches who bend over backwards for success… and while, again, the circumstances surrounding his appearance was a bit waffle-y in execution (which is about par for live action adaptations), I love that he serves as a sage outsider who can assess in three seconds what kind of player Lu Xia is, and what he needs to do to improve… I love me a good wise character who still knows how to inspire people in a fun way but you never, for a second, doubt that what they’re saying is legit advice, even if their mannerisms are goofy…

4. Favorite supporting cast member(s)? (characters who aren’t regulars, aren’t on tennis teams etc.)

Oh I mean…Stretcher Bros for life amirite? They were great…they were just hanging out, trying out.. Huang Jing is kinda jerk-ish, but he’s the starting antagonist who turns out to have a pure heart and a genuine love of the sport (kinda like Tsukishima Kei from Haikyuu!! or the GoMs from Kuroko no Basuke)… and Xiu Wen is such a soft boi who wants to shower in peace without girls being in the locker room…

Put these two besties together forever…and I just love how cuddly they are with each other…no hesitation to hold hands or hug…it’s gooood

5. Favorite original character(s) in the adaptation?

Um…idk who’s an original character??? Again never watched the original anime/read the manga!

5.5. Favourite ship? (Get ready my friendsss issa long one)

Si Yang x Qi Ying my friendssss… a super unexpected pairing that came outta nowhere!!! Because the trailer clearly shows (or maybe it doesn’t and I forgot) that Lu Xia and Qi Ying are gonna be THE THING but then we get hit with the surprise senpai-kouhai/team manager ship and I’m like uhhh were you planning this or am I reading into it too much???

Like y’all they were flirting right in the beginning… that whole bit where she stands outside the change rooms and Si Yang confronts her, and she begs him to add Lu Xia to the team (even tho he already did) and he was weirdly teasing her about the roster when he had no reason to, and she was kinda bantering back with him and she fully called him out later on… i was like, umm this is a vibe

They just kept getting thrown together in weird ways…aside from Lu Xia, she’s probably had the most interactions with Si Yang of all the other team members… she’s the only one he calls Xiao~ like the boys in the tennis club have their nicknames like Dachi, Ah Mu, Ah Yan, but only Qi Ying is Xiao Ying!! he’s not a nickname guy… and maybe if it were a girl/cheerleader thing, you’d think he’d call Peng Xiang, Xiao Xiang BUT NO… only Qi Ying gets called Xiao Ying!!!

AND ANOTHER THING: other than Lu Xia, he’s the only one concerned for Qi Yang, despite what he says, when she gets caught in the rain and gets sick… he fully visits her in her room, and receives the call about her health after they send her to the hospital… he says everyones worried BUT YO they’re straight up just bored and end up having a pillow fight…sooooo can’t be that worried…

AND ONE MORE THING: Qi Ying, I get she’s this weird mascot/team manager figure on their team (even tho she’s meant to be a cheerleader but they never invite Peng Xiang to any of their team dinners or their training camp) BUT WHEN SI YANG RETURNS HOME, THEY SEND IN QI YING TO GREET HIM and they have this whole charming convo where she teases him...and they were chatting as if they always had this banter going on but they’d only talked like 3 or 4 times on screen before then, so there’s this whole relationship she has with the tennis team (not just Lu Xia) that is implied but we don’t really see it! And when she teasingly calls him Captain Si Yang after he returns to China, he had the softest smileeee!!! HE TOTALLY DOES HAVE A SOFT SPOT FOR HER!! He didn’t want her to think he wasn’t happy to see her... and then she leads him to their surprise party in the club room and he just keeps saying Xiao Ying… like damn you keep trying to establish the Lu Xia x Qi Ying ship (and it is a decently strong ship) but Si Yang x Qi Ying is soooo good!

6. Who do you think enacted their role best?

I…I think this is obvious… NEXT

Jk… other than Si Yang, I really enjoyed the guy who plays Lu Xia - Peng Yu Chang… he played the typical “stoic, super talented/genius sports idiot” type prolific in sports anime (like Furuya from Daiya no A, Kageyama from Haikyuu!!, Midorima from KnB)… but he was never too stuck in his head, and he was never mean… too often there’ll be a moment where this type of character is played too seriously, gets stuck in their own head, and lashes out at anyone they deem getting in their way, especially when they feel they’re stuck in a rut… which Lu Xia is in, for essentially the entirety of the show, in one form or another…

But PYC played Lu Xia as this mildly cocky, but still incredibly enthusiastic young genius who is looking for the next big challenge so as to further himself, but is so obsessed with this one opponent (his dad), that he can’t see the bigger picture and realise his entire way of playing is a mirror of the very opponent he’s trying to overcome… but even at the height of his stagnation, he’s never mean to Qi Ying, who tries her best to support and encourage him… while he does distance himself from the team, it’s not an active dismissal of their assistance or support… he can play a straight faced comic when embarrassed/discombobulated (like Si Yang when faced with Yan Juice), but also always participates in most of the weird antics his team is up to… and it never feels OOC and thats clearly a result of Peng Yu Chang’s subtle acting…

ALSO PENG YU CHANG IS IN OUR SHINING DAYS, A SUPER UNDERRATED CHINESE FILM THAT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO BE ADAPTED INTO LIKE, A ONE SEASON SHOW AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WATCH IT

7. Favorite singles match?

Oh pfft… please… PLEASE IS THERE EVEN A QUESTION it was arguably the best match of the whole show, it was what we were all waiting for, a super tension filled, super hyped up match because it features my favourite character, who has simultaneously been promoted as THE BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM but also super injured and avoiding over-exertion… MU SI YANG…against his personal rival, whom had never tasted defeat before, and subsequently trained like crazy, throwing all of the money at professional players, FOR A YEAR, in order to be ready to face him… JI JING WU

That’s right baby, its the Imperial Pair Match (I do hope I’m using all these nicknames correctly..I just tried to pick them up from the anime/manga to save time writing out their names XD)…

This match is everything you ever want in a match…it’s a gritty, no-holds-barred, all-out, clash-of-titans-style face-off between probably the two most talented players in that whole (province? Prefecture? Idk China regional names) BUT YEAH THESE TWO ARE CLEARLY TOP TIER PLAYERS WHO FINALLY GO HEAD TO HEAD… it’s a year in the making, Ji Jing Wu is in peak physical condition, but Si Yang is not…and yet we see Si Yang powering through the literal agony of an arm injury that threatens complete destruction of not only his tennis career, but his general usage of that arm… and for glory and to bring his team to the national stage, Si Yang lays it all on the line… and he still gives Ji Jing Wu a run for his goddamn money… he matches him hit for hit, and at one point he was even WINNING…and had it not been for his arm, I swear up and down that he would’ve beaten Jingwu…

BUT THAT’S NOT EVEN THE BEST PART… i mean, all sports anime and just shounen anime in general have those moments where the characters are down and out and summoning the power of friendship and determination to their side to go above and beyond the physical limitations of their bodies… NO THE ACTUAL BEST PART WAS JI JINGWU’S RESPONSE TO THE WHOLE SITUATION

The goddamn respect he gave Si Yang.. this is his rival, the only person he’s ever viewed as equal and even superior to his own skills (at least as far as people the same age as him go)… Jingwu wants to beat him so bad… and he’s heard the rumours about Si Yang’s injury, and he even sees for himself how bad the injury is… but as a skilled player who recognises skill himself, he does not do Si Yang the disrespect of going easy on him… what kind of arrogant prick has that kind of nerve to give less than their best to someone who is giving them 120% effort… no, Ji Jingwu doesn’t hesitate to hit back full power, even as he’s yelling at Si Yang to stop before his arm is utterly destroyed… because the last thing any person of talent would want, is to see another person lose such an incredible gift… but even worse than that, have that person realise someone was going easy on them... it was so goddamn beautiful… and when Jingwu grips Si Yang’s hand and raises it high because he and everyone there knows who the real winner of that match is…they all know that they just witnessed something incredible, and he wants everyone in the stands to not only acknowledge it… but remember it…

And then he proceeds to fund Si Yang’s surgery, his flight, his meals, his rehabilitation, AS WELL AS take care of his team… and if that isn’t love, idk what is… like they don’t even disguise the hard core DEDICATION AND LOVE... Jingwu has obsessed over Si Yang for a year and it goddamn shows

Honourable Mention: I really enjoyed Zhou Zi versus the demon child whose eyes go red…we finally get to see Zhou Zi stretch his legs and push himself and I LOVED THAT… like he’s actually trying his best and that’s dope… also the match against the captain of the team his little brother his on… he basically led this cocky motherfucker by the nose for 5 games, pretends to be losing, and then destroys him in the following 7…

OH AND I GOTTA SHOUT OUT MY OTHER GLASSES BOI YAN ZHIMING VERSUS HIS BEST GUY FRIEND FROM YOUTH… that was a beautiful evolution of Ah Yan transcending but also evolving his data tennis against his childhood friend and it feels good ya know?

8. Favorite doubles match?

Oh pfft anything with the Rival Pair… they bicker like cat and dog, but then you put them on the court together, and suddenly their chemistry is through the roof… also Baiyang and Qiao Chen are a stronger couple than Qiao Chen and Yu Xing Zi and that’s the damn tea

9. Favorite story arc?

Oh man… ummm training arc with Yu Feng was fun but it was definitely beaten out by the “village raises a child” arc when Si Yang leaves, so literally all their previous opponents step up to encourage, train, or otherwise intimidate Yu Qing into giving it their all, improving, and ultimately winning the finals… plus this arc gave so much depth to the network of teams who all have the same aspirations, in the end, and want to push forward the people who beat them to not let their loss be in vain…and that’s pure…

10. Most amusing tenipuri scene(s)/moment(s)/running joke(s)?

Yan Juice... especially the first time NEXT

Honourable Mentions: When Lu Xia gets stood up by Xinglong Lu Xia running interference on Qi Ying’s admirer in the final ep When Zhou Bros run into Lu Xia in the dressing rooms Stretcher Bros trying to become Painter Bros

11. What did you like most about the adaptation?

It captured the essence of a good sports anime: power of friendship, ridiculous action sequences of outrageous moves that would never be allowed in real life, determination and guts is all you need to succeed, that all-or-nothing mentality of high schoolers who suddenly have tunnel vision and no future thinking whatsoever, and decide to risk life and limb for one match… plus it kept a charming and comedic beat running throughout, really endeared you to the characters, and their struggles... AND NO ONE WAS MEAN... well I mean Ya Jiuxin was an angry bitter jerk for a hot second, but he ended up being endeared towards the lil fluffball kouhai of his, and we all know he loves Xinglong in his heart of hearts... other characters like Jingwu, or demon child, or Zhou Yu’s captain were cocky or arrogant, but they were never mean to each other, and respected each other’s game play even if they were defeated.. a couple were poor losers, but they didn’t throw a fit or try to get revenge or anything like that... everyone, in general, had some decency to them, and in fact all of Yu Qing was a super nice...sometimes too nice and self-deprecating that you wanted to smack them...

12. What do you think the adaptation could have improved on?

This is mostly just a consequence of live action adaptations of sports anime where they have to condense a whole lot of story that is already condensed from the manga into a palatable show that anyone, not necessarily pre-existing fans of the original source, can enjoy… the story around the characters seemed waffle-y and disjointed… sometimes things would happen but wouldn’t connect smoothly to the next thing that happens… there was this whole implied close relationship between Qi Ying and the team that just was never shown… I would’ve preferred they made her an official manager, so it would make sense that she’d be so close to the team, when for whatever reason, Peng Xiang wasn’t…even tho they’re both cheer captains…

The match sequences were cut down a little too much (tho I get why)… I would have loved that final training arc to be extended, to fully flesh out how discombobulated Yu Qing was when Si Yang had to leave, and how forcefully the other teams picked them up and got them better… so to develop the dynamic between the teams before this would’ve been good, but obviously they can only got the core actors of each team at a time… hence that barbecue scene… but if they’d pulled off something like the Haikyuu!! Tokyo training arc, or even something like in KnB where the teams were thrown together in wacky hijinks or impromptu match situations to develop their camaraderie (and they sorta tried to but nothing really came of the interactions), it would’ve made the final training arc THAT MUCH MORE heartwarming and I would have cried..

Something really bummed me out so when life gives you lemons… write stuff about it right? I admit this is more of a... “I just want to comfort myself” fic or Drabble but I still wanted to share

How would RGB comfort their crush in certain situations. Scenario is overthinking another person’s reaction. I have a preference for writing scenarios where the reader is the crush rather than an established relationship (BECAUSE I LOVE THE PINING. Its my favorite trope flavor!!), hmmmmmmmmmmm….

Also warning... I give really stupid nicknames, you’ll know what I’m talking about soon.

Python tried as his best to read the message displayed on your screen as objectively as he could. He didn’t know your childhood best friend personally so there was hesitation on his end to say anything negative about them. He glanced at you sitting on the bleachers, then returned his focus on message.

You: BESH! BESH! remember that competition I joined??? the writer’s thingy! well I WON. i thought i’d get an honorary mention but i got first place!

Their response came after thirty minutes

A bit dry, even for him, but he wasn’t about to jump to conclusions. You on the other hand rode that overthinking train hard and fast. More tears started streaming down your face, your sleeves could barely keep up with their flow.

“Maybe I’m overthinking things. I just I don’t know…” you managed to say through the stream of tears. “Ya expected a different reaction?” you nodded at his input.

He rubbed the back of his neck, he hated seeing you cry, double this time around since that writer’s competition meant a lot to you. Python witnessed how much effort you put into your submission, you even asked him to read it. You had talent, he’d told you time and time again but you always second guessed yourself.

Getting you to join the competition was a collective effort from him, Forsyth, Lukas, and your best friend, so even he was stumped with their flat reaction. He handed your phone back and pulled out a few more tissues, wiping your tears with them. “Geez sunshine, I ain’t gonna pretend I know what’s up with your bestie.” He sat himself right beside you on the bleachers, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets. “Maybe you could ask them later? Get their side of the story first, I get that this stings. This is your big win and you wanna celebrate it with them.”

“Am I being selfish? I want them to be happy with me, for me. Maybe I’m asking too much? Maybe… my win means nothing…”

“Hey.” You turned your attention to him, more tears streaming down your face. Python reached out and wiped away the waterworks as best he could while a sigh escaped his lips. “You worked your butt off for that piece, its your time to shine, and shine you did. A victory party is in order, enjoy yourself, easier said than done given the situation but sunshine… don’t let one person rain on your parade m’kay?” he opened his arms slightly, motioning if you wanted a hug. You went in for a quick side hug then pulled away. “Sunshine…” he lightly tapped his knee against yours a few times “I ain’t the best stand-in for your best friend but I’m here for you. We could grab a bite to eat after class. Let’s drag Fors and Lukas into our little celebration if you’re up to it eh? Whaddya say?” he tapped his knee against your while wiggling his eye brows at you.

Hard to refuse that offer, seeing how much effort Python put into cheering you up. Your schoolmate always looked overworked and tired, a bit grumpy too. Like if you wasted his time he wouldn’t hesitate to tell you off but after getting to know him, he really did care about his friends and was supportive in his own special way. “A little party sounds like a great idea Py…” talking to him lifted some of the anxiety and sadness you were feeling, its nice to be reminded that there are other people out there who are rooting for you.

Later that night, after the victory party, you followed Python’s advice and calmly messaged your best friend.

You: hey besh, i want to talk to you about something , its been on my mind for awhile

It took a while for them to respond

You: remember when I texted you about my win? i don’t want to sound demanding but i just want to be honest. i was kinda disappointed with your response. kinda expecting you to be happier for me but something tells me you have something on your mind… you wouldn’t reply like that to me.

Besh<3: oh besh… i just didn’t want to ruin your moment. i really am happy for your win but a lot of things happened around the time you messaged me.

You: hey… talk to me okay? what’s going on?

Besh<3: well… we rushed Gouda to the vet cause he just refused to eat anything

Now that made sense, Gouda was their cat they’d had for as long as you could remember, no wonder they weren’t as enthusiastic.

Besh<3: vet said it could be old age and we might have to put him down

Forsyth

Fosryth couldn’t have been happier for you, while you didn’t win the school talent show both the Glee club and Chorale group were battling it out to convince you to join either of them. All you wanted to do in that moment was to savour your accomplishment. Stage performance had always given you anxiety but their was this desire in you to perform as well. Fosryth, your sister, Lukas, and even Python had advised you to give it a shot, you had talent after all and that was worth sharing with the world.

You couldn’t help but smile at both the Glee and Chorale leaders but “I’ll have to think about it” was your response to their passionate invitations, Forsyth had to politely ask them to leave after they’d begun heckling you once more.

Once your “recruiters” left you poked Forsyth on the cheek “Thank you Fors.” You said in a sing-song manner, he came in for a big hug “Congratulations! I haven’t the clue why you didn’t win first place!! But you were amazing on stage!” he released you and took the guitar case from you.

“Oh you exaggerate! But I’m glad that’s over with, it wasn’t so bad.” You giggled to yourself “I might even try it again.”

You could feel Forsyth beaming with excitement “If that’s the case, the next time we have school event and in need of an intermission number you’ll be first on the list! I promise that! Why I’ll even plan more school events so you can perform more!!” he balled his fist in excitement. Without skipping a beat Forsyth changed the direction of the conversation “Oh! Do you want to stop by the café before going home? Just a small celebration, I know you must be tired but I’d really like to celebrate…” he paused for a bit, a very faint blush painting his cheeks ”… This with you.” He finished his sentence sheepishly

Either you were too dense or didn’t want to color Forsyth’s thoughtfulness. He treated everyone cordially and was always happy to help so you had assumed he was this nice to everyone. You felt your phone buzz in your pocket, making you focus elsewhere.

Your sister had always been your supporter ever since you were children. She wasn’t musically gifted herself so when you picked up singing and guitar, she backed you up by 2000%. That video would thrill her

You: hey sis eat your heart out, your younger sibling’s a star!!

Focusing your attention back on Forsyth who’d been waiting patiently for your response, he gripped the handle of your guitar case nervously “I’m so sorry Forsyth.” you rubbed his arm “Python just send me the vid. I just had to send off to my sister right away about the café thing, I’d love to but don’t you want to drop off the guitar case at my place first?”

“Oh oh! Don’t you worry about me! I can carry this around.” He lifted the case like a dump bell. You silently admired how he had just flexed his rather toned arms at you but you more worried about accidentally breaking the guitar.

“I’m sure you’ve lifted heavier things Fors but I’d like to keep that as safe as possible? Minimize chances of damage.” He turned beet red. “I didn’t mean to-! Your things are important and I’d want to avoid anything that would damage-“ you pressed two finger on his lips “I get it Forsyth, its fine.” You smiled to reassure him

You set your case at the corner of your apartment’s living room and decided to check your phone as you made your exit. “Weird.” You thought, your sister had seen your message but no response came. Was your performance so dazzling that it left her speechless? You were sure the green haired bouncing ball of energy outside would agree but something about this didn’t settle well with you. Flipping through your contacts, you dialed your sister’s home phone right away but there was no answer. Your face began to dark as you stepped out the door, greeting Forsyth with a serious expression.

“What’s wrong?”

“Maybe I’m just overthinking things but she hasn’t responded to me, I wonder if she’s okay?”

“Your sister I take it?” you nodded in response while you gave her cellphone a ring. Your call went straight to voice mail that prompted you to give her a call a few more times. After six called she finally picked up

“What do you want?” that’s not the greeting you had hoped for, she sounded really irritated

“Uh…” there was a negative vibe that seeped through the call but you tried your best to remain chipper “I sent you the video of my number for the talent show. I did it! Finally –“ you heard an exasperated sigh from the other side, stopping you from saying anything else.

“Look… you picked a really bad time. I’m just not in the mood right now okay?” that broke your heart, you were expecting her to be happier and excited like Forsyth but that wasn’t the case. Sadness and disappointed slowly began turning into mild anger.

“I don’t get you… you’ve been pushing me to do this since we were kids and now you just…”

She cut you off with another sigh that was much louder “I told you now is a bad time okay? Just leave me alone for a bit okay!?” and with that your sister hung up.

Forsyth tried his best to fish out his tissues to catch your falling tears but you’d already started crying a river.

He wasn’t sure how to comfort you, he had no words and he was careful not to say anything mean or negative about your sibling. The only thing he could offer you was a hug and you clung to him, crying it out into his shoulder.

“I shouldn’t be this upset!” you were a blubbering mess “Its just a stupid performance, I’m blowing it out of proportion like a spoiled brat!!”

“Its understandable that you’d be upset. Your performance is NOT stupid or unworthy of praise! Don’t discredit yourself like that!” he hugged you even tighter, he could feel you getting hiccups from crying so much.

You pulled away, wiping both tears and snot off your face with another tissue. Your living was now littered with used tissues and another one was added to the pile “Was it wrong for me to expect her to be happy for me?”

“NO!” he shook his head furiously “I don’t know what’s going on with your sister but…” he took a long pause to gather his thoughts “You were amazing while you were performing. You’ve got both the talent and the passion for it, it really shows. The way you put so much effort when you practice and the emotion your voice carries when you sing. A voice like that should be shared with the world if you ask me so I’m really happy you went ahead and performed in spite of your nervousness. I’m really, truly proud of you.” He hugged you again, it was warm, sincere, and comforting. “I’ll… always be one of your adoring fans.”

Forsyth realized how over the top and mushy what he just said was, his face burned. “I-I-I know what else we can do to help you feel better! We never got to go to café, I’ll step out for a bit and grab some food there! I’ll come back of course!” he quickly let you go, grabbed his jacket and made a mad dash for the door. He was redder than a tomato, heart drumming rapidly against his chest.

You had very little time to process what had just happened, right on cue your phone started buzzing. You checked the screen and saw your sister’s name, you took a deep breath before answering the call.

“He-hello?”

“Hey… I’m really sorry about earlier. You could tell I was angry but I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”

You felt the tears well up once more “I should’ve been more sensitive to you, I could tell by your voice you weren’t in the mood, should’ve just given you sometime and talked to you once you were ready.”

“Nope kiddo, this is all on me. I suck at being your number 1 fan but I’m proud of you. You’ve moved on from singing on top of the bed to singing on an actual stage.” That was fond childhood memory, you both would pretend your parents’ bed was a stage or stadium, and you lip sync to your favourite songs while your sister pretended to be a fan in the crowd. “I watched the video, its not the full video so you better send me that so I can put that on repeat! You did an even better job at the song than the original artist! Can I put it on my tiktok and make you famous?” you could tell she was doing her best to make up for her outburst a while ago.

“Aw c’mon that’s laying it on too thick.” You breathed in deeply as you held the phone closer to your ear “Hey… I am worried about you, you know that right? So what’s up on your end?” you heard her scoff on the other side

“Don’t worry about that for now, I’ll fill you in later. I don’t want to think about anything negative and just want to celebrate this with you!” a beat passed “Also… I’m really curious who that green haired guy is in the video… your boyfriend? When did you learn to keep juicy secrets from me?”

Boyfriend? Green hair? Only Forsyth came to mind and then the memory of him holding you close and getting all sappy a while ago rushed through head. A hot blush raged across your face “He-HE isn’t my boyfriend!” you managed to sputter out

“Hohoho! He seems quite taken by you!” the relentless teasing continued

“What makes you say that?!” you tried to fan yourself to calm down the blush.

“Seriously? You saw the video right?”

Actually, you hadn’t watched the video of your performance. You swiped out from the call and checked the video Python had sent you. It started normal enough, you in frame, the video would cut out to a different portion of your performance but one segment really stood out. Who would’ve guessed that Python would mischievously add a clip of his best friend gushing about you.

“Oh…” you heard Forsyth sigh affectionately in the video “They sound like an angel Python. I can’t take my eyes off them… I could watch and listen to them all day and night…” the video transitioned back to you on stage.

You could hear your sister making kissy sounds on the other side of the line while laughing hard. Embarrassed beyond reason, you tried your best to clear things up with your sister. Forsyth could come back any minute with the food and you didn’t want to get caught talking about him. Your sister continued to tease you and ask you to call her back once you were done with your “date”. Circumstance must’ve been playing tricks on you, Forsyth so conveniently returned at that moment with food.

“Hoh? You left the door unlocked? I’ve returned with food though, sorry I took so long. I passed by another shop and bought you something from there as well.” You could hear your sister cackling maniacally before hanging up. Keeping calm after seeing the video was going to be challenge but you managed to have a small food party and update Forsyth that you and your sister were okay now. As it was getting late, he said he’d have to go but not before giving you one last hug. You bonked yourself on the head for being so oblivious to the possibility of him having feelings for you.

Superman: Happy to announce I’ve made it back home! I’m glad I was able to cheer you up even a little bit. I’m even happier to hear you’ve spoken to your sister.

You: Glad you’re home safe! Thanks Forsyth, I’d probably be sulking all night long if it wasn’t for you

Superman: I’d do anything to cheer you up. I’ll even act like a clown if it means putting a smile on your face!

You: Don’t over do it green bean.

You: Oh, I spoke with my sister. Apparently, she lost her job that’s why she was all bummed out.

Superman: !!!

Superman: Maybe I could help her out with job hunting? Although my contacts are from around our area, is she particular about the location?

You: Thanks Fors but my sis has a plan and sent her resume to several prospective employers. I appreciate the effort and concern though

“I wouldn’t lie to you.” Lukas gave you a gentle smile “I read your paper, your passion and grasp of the topic shined through. Professor Evans echoes my opinion, you wrote an excellent paper.” You couldn’t help but stare at the post-it your professor stuck on your hard copy.

“Your final research summary paper was an excellent application of all the concepts we’ve learned in class. I want to congratulate you on your effort and dedication, you’ve earned the A+ and, if you’d allow me, I’d like to add your work to a journal I’m working on. You will be fully credited of course, its just my personal collection of student’s work.”

You’d lost count at how many times you’d re-read the note, how many times you’d replayed the commendations. The high you were feeling was difficult to complain and you found yourself tugging Lukas’ sleeve “You helped me too! You proofread my drafts and pointed out areas of improvement. Professor also commended your paper!” he shook his head in response

“My input was probably only worth two-percent of your mark, everything else was your hard work. With that being said our A’s could only mean we’ve passed the course with flying colours.”

“That calls for a celebration! So another coffee party or…” you fished out your phone and hurriedly looked up something up “Do you want to try this place out?” he inched closer to you to look at your screen “This place has started selling coffee jelly but they’ve got other items on the menu.”

His eyes perked up at the word “coffee”, his favourite “drug” of choice “I do like the sound of that, I’ll just drop off something at the learning center and we can head out. I believe you don’t have anymore classes for the day?” you gave him a thumbs up in response and told him you’d wait for him outside the school. Perfect opportunity for you to text your cousin about your “little” academic victory. You’d always been close with your cousin, granted that you grew up together. Both of you lived in the same area, so you’d alternate sleepover parties in each other’s houses. For college though, you’d gone to different institutions, you’re cousin chose a place in your hometown while you went to a busier city’s university. Though you’d gone different paths, you still texted each other almost everyday

kingkong: What’s new? You’ve always been the smarter one so that isn’t news to me heh 😜

What was that about? Everything your cousin said just irritated you for some reason. Granted they always had a certain “edge”, as you would describe it, in the way they talked that didn’t really bother you because you’d gotten used to it through the years. But something about this situation coupled with what they said irritated you.

Lukas was far too preoccupied trying to read your mood than enjoy his coffee jelly. He watched as you playing with the metal straw in your mouth as you drummed your fingers on the table. He cleared his throat to break the silence “Something’s bothering you I take it, I’m all ears if you’re willing to share.”

Pushing the metal straw away with your lips as you let out a dry laugh “Last time I checked I’m the one studying therapy…” he quirked an eyebrow at your response but continued to observe you, the way Lukas would look at other people, it always seemed like he was putting others under a microscope. You’d grown used to that habit of his, you didn’t find it off putting at all. “Have you told your family about you’re A?” you quickly changed the subject

“I doubt they’d care. You know my older brother wants nothing to with me, my father on the other hand would simply respond with something along the lines of getting good marks are what’s expected of me.” He gave a smile, the kind that was all show, the kind that masks something underneath.

You could relate to his situation at the moment “I know how that feels…” you took a long sip of your drink “I thought this person would celebrate with me but their reaction simply irritated me.” Stirred your drink with the straw

“Sounds like we only have each other to celebrate our personal victory.” He leaned in a bit “If it helps you take the edge off things, I don’t mind you venting to me.” You slid your phone to him, the exchange between you and your cousin on the screen. Lukas read through it, took a quick glance at you before closing his eyes with a sign. That was your cue, he signalling you to start venting.

“I just… everything they said rubbed me the wrong way. Especially that bit about me getting A’s expected, I don’t just sit down ,write a test or paper then manifest an A.” you tapped the table as you spoke “Good grades don’t just ‘come naturally’ to me Lukas neither does it ‘come naturally’ to you.” you crossed your arms in front of your chest with a huff.

Lukas would be lying if he said he didn’t understand how you felt. “You don’t like it that people have a certain expectation of you.” You nodded in response “But you did expect your cousin to react in a certain way, did you not?” you flashed an angry look at your companion. Did he just defend your cousin? “I don’t mean to exacerbate your irritation. What your cousin just said, that good grades come naturally to you and are to be expected of you, failed to consider all the hard work and effort you put into your studies. As you said, we don’t just sit down and conjure up A’s.”

“What are you getting at Lukas?”

“I don’t know your cousin as personally as you do but I think they’re unaware that you find such comments disagreeable.” He tilted his head

“They’ve known me since we were kids.” He noticed your shoulders tense up as you said this

“You thought they’d react in a certain way and they thought you’d be okay with a comment like that.” He took a bite of his coffee jelly “The best option to take is to talk to them and let them know how they made you feel. The fact that you’re reacting this way, I can only wager a guess that your cousin means a lot to you and you put a great amount of trust in them.”

“Lukas… you’d make a good counsellor.” To which he shrugged “You don’t believe me? Would I lie to you?”

“You wouldn’t… I trust you a great deal, so my expectation is you wouldn’t say anything to deceive me.” He glanced at you before flashing a faint yet genuine smile. This was a rare occurrence, Lukas was showing vulnerability. Though he was very popular and well-liked in school, he didn’t have many friends and had trouble connecting with others. Something you’d observed was that he kept a lot of people at arm’s length and never truly opened up to anyone.

He looked at your sincerely “I think you need to hear this again. Don’t let the words of others undervalue your effort. You are a responsible, intelligent, and a hardworking person, I’m witness to those virtues and I admire you for them. All your successes happen by your own hand and not because you were born to succeed.” After speaking, he clinked his glass to yours. “So for now, let’s ignore those people who don’t understand and let’s celebrate our hard work?”

A smile cracked through your face, Lukas was right. It wasn’t fair to yourself, letting the words of others get you down and spoiling your day. “Thanks Lukas, I’m glad you’re here to celebrate with me.”

【POPTEEN ENERO 2016】 Entrevista de POPTEEN a BTS

P: ¿Qué les hizo sentir que habían crecido en el 2015?

RM: Cuando ganamos Primer Lugar en el show de música. Pensé “wow~ hemos crecido”.

J: Cuando subí mi cover de canto de ‘Mom’, estaba contento de que le podía agradecer a mis padres a través de mis covers.

SG: Siento que crecemos cada vez que tenemos un concierto. Cada vez me siento diferente.

JH: Cuando estaba componiendo para ‘화양연화 pt. 1’ [The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt. 1], que salió en Corea.

JM: Creo que mi corazón ha cambiado. No me siento igual de ‘rudo’ que antes.

V: Nuestra presentación mejora.

JK: Pensé que no había crecido, pero revisé mi estatura, ¡y he crecido un centímetro!

P: ¿Quién piensan que es el miembro más activo en 2015?

RM: Jimin. ¡Jimin está recibiendo mucha atención este año!

J: Rap Monster. Él es muy conocido así que ha popularizado el nombre del grupo también.

SG: Rap Monster. Estuvo activo en shows de televisión y parecía ser el más ocupado.

JH: Rap Monster. Lanzó su propio mixtape, tuvo actividades de solista, y también cuidó por el grupo. Está pasando por mucho trabajo fuerte.

JM: Jungkook. Es el más activo en el dormitorio, siempre me está molestando, es divertido.

V: Jimin. Como es el que más brilla en el escenario, está recibiendo mucha atención. ¡Jimin es el más cool!

JK: Rap Monster. Grabó un CF por su cuenta, es el más activo.

P: ¿Cuál es su momento más feliz del 2015?

RM: Cuando ganamos Primer Lugar en el show de música en Corea con ‘I NEED U’.

J: Concierto.

SG: Todos los conciertos. Si tuviera que hablar sobre recuerdos, tomaría años hablar solo de conciertos. (risas)

JH: Cuando ganamos Primer Lugar con ‘I NEED U’. ¡Ganamos Primer Lugar por primera vez así que estábamos verdaderamente felices!

JM: Hay tantos [momentos de 2015] que es difícil escoger uno del cual hablar. [Para mí] La felicidad es cuando estoy en la tarima, cuando estoy jugando con los miembros e incluso cuando estoy comiendo.

V: Por supuesto que fue haber alcanzado el Primer Lugar con ‘I NEED U’.

JK: Cuando hice bungee-jumping para una transmisión. Lo hice de noche, estaba demasiado oscuro para ver… es una pena… (risas)

P: ¿Cuáles son sus noticias personales más grandes de 2015?

RM: El lanzamiento de mi mixtape ‘RM’ en marzo. ¡Espero que todos puedan escucharlo!

J: No tuve que retomar ninguna prueba de la universidad. ¡Es grandioso! (aplaude)

SG: Haber ganado Primer Lugar con ‘I NEED U’ fue la noticia personal más grande.

JH: La noticia más grande es que fuimos escogidos como el ‘Mejor acto’ para los MTV EMA 2015.

JM: Perdí mis abdominales. Desaparecieron completamente así que ahora tengo una pancita linda (risas).

V: Primer Lugar con ‘I NEED U’.

JK: Ahora tenemos un lugar para componer [canciones] en el dormitorio. Cuando quiero componer me puedo sumergir en él, así que son noticias personales.

P: ¿Con qué están obsesionados en 2015?

RM: He tenido muchas actividades de solista este año por lo tanto me pregunto, “¿cómo puedo hacerlo bien por mi cuenta?”

J: A mí me gustan los juegos de TV.

SG: Mueblería. Cuando nos mudamos de dormitorio compramos algo de mueblería y el sofá es mi favorito. El diseño es muy bonito.

JH: Baile. Este año volveré a mi propósito original e indagaré en el baile.

JM: Encontrar un pasatiempo. Todavía no he encontrado uno.

V: Yo estoy coleccionando zapatos.

JK: Hacer covers de las canciones de otros artistas. En estos momentos, mi canción favorita es ‘I’m in Love’ de Ra.D.

P: ¿Cuál es el momento más memorable cuando están interactuando con las fans en 2015?

RM: Cuando ganamos Primer Lugar con ‘I NEED U’ y las fans alrededor del mundo celebraron y lloraron con nosotros.

Riverdale Roundup 20x21: “The Killing of A Sacred Deer”

So Riverdale was on last night. I confirmed did not watch. I couldn’t watch it on my tv and I was far too lazy to get a stream up so like here we are. I go into my PVR to watch it this morning and it’s like “ no information found” and i’m ready to fume but when I pressed on it it still played so it was just god playing a little funny on me. Anyway, when I went on the internet last night people were like shitting their pants about this episode so i’m expecting something good. I’ve got my tea. Lets go.

Apparently I forgot about every single thing that happened last episode because their little recap has me straight shook. Like Reggie shot fangs? In what world?

So the Black Hood rolls up at Cheryl's house fitting to kill her and I’m just down for that. I’ve recently decided to stan Cheryl. I love the villian with a heart of gold. Please see season 1-3 Alex Karev.

So the black hood is coming after Cheryl with a casual axe because he apparently misplaced his gun, and he hacks up her lovely bedroom door. Cheryl goes all hunger games and whips out her bow and arrow and shoots the guy. I mean she could have done us all a favour and killed the guy so we can all move on to greener pastures. Like they aren’t going to drag this shit into season 3 are they? I don’t need another pretty little liars 7 seasons of dealing it, A, or the A team, or charles or whatever that stupid show morphed into.

Cheryl is the most casual girl ever. She just calls up Betty and is like “ yeah so the black hood just tried to kill me and i’m going to go hunt him in the woods. Want to do brunch on saturday?”

So Reggie didn’t shoot Fangs. I mean I guess it makes sense. Reggie was on the ground and Fangs got shot in the stomach so that would have had to have been quite the angle.

Hiram Lodge is like giddy about this whole riot. It's like christmas morning for the little guy.

Betty is uber convinced that her Daddy is the black hood and is worried that someone is going to murder him since Hermione is offering up a casual million dollars for the blackhoods head on a platter, preferably silver. Preferably polished.

So Veronica sees Midges mom wandering on the streets looking coked out as fuck and plot twist she was the one who shot fangs. I mean she thought he murdered her daughter but I mean that evidence is so damn thin.

Reggie is hiding behind a dumpster because bitches are out for him. He calls Mr Lodge and is like “ Daddy help” but Hiram isn’t his daddy anymore. He’s got to deal with this ish on his own.

All the football players + Kevin are out looking for Reggie. They end up at the high school where Sweet Pea and his boys are fitting to burn the place to the ground. Seems a little extreme but SP is cute so I probs would have allowed it.

Principal weatherbee shows up with like a bat or something and is like “ What the fuck? All you skanks better leave rn or i’m flip.” Honestly it’s very Mean girls with the principal and and the bat and i’m honestly surprised he doesn’t send them all to the gym for a seminar on confidence. He will keep them there ALL NIGHT. He can’t keep them past four. He will keep them there till FOUR.

Eventually the gang finds Reggie at Pops and honestly no one should be surprised because there are only ever 3 places anyone could ever be in Riverdale. It’s shocking that Pop had to call Archie to tell him that Reggie was there. They had basically knocked every other possibility off the list.

Betty gets a call from an unknown number and she thinks it’s the black hood, but I mean come on. Her annoying ass ringtone didn’t go off so we all know that it wasn’t going to be BH. It’s FP calling from a pay phone being like

“ My bitch ass little son is a slithery lil snakey snake and ran off. Is he with you? Also your dad is in the ER.”

Betty promptly gets shook because she knows that Cheryl shot the black hood with an arrow so if Hal is bleeding from the shoulder shit is about to go down.

A bunch of crazies roll up to pops and Archie is pissed that Jughead hasn’t reigned in all his little friends but get shook guys. It’s the Goolies or whatever they’re called. I honestly forgot about them. It seems like decades ago since everyone put on their favourite vintage outfits and went out to watch the street race.

So the football players are trying to barricade the shop and poor pop tate is triggered. The guy has been through enough. Wars. Riots.The whole thing. But he knows how to deal with this ish. They going to lite this place up.

The Goolies are ready to take some names but boom. The Sheriffs cruiser appears out of nowhere and the silver fox fires his gun into the air sending the goolies running.

Hot dads for the win. FP and Keller are everything. Fred is there too but everyone needs a duff. I would like to make it clear that I audibly out loud said “ yas hot dads unite” before Kevin mentioned anything about the trio. Just want to put that out there.

Betty goes running to the hospital and into her dads room but oops get shook. Hal isn’t there, but Dr Mcstuffins is dead. Poor guy. Asked too many questions. Sounds like every single one of my relatives and neighbours.

The phone beside the hospital bed rings because the black hood just magically knows that Betty has arrived in the room, and he’s like “ listen bitch, it’s past your bedtime. Get your skinny ass home or ima kill your mom. Okay. see you in 10. Byyeeee”

Jughead is brooding at the bar when his phone rings. It’s freaking Alice Jr, Penny Peabody.

She’s all like “ Hey babe. Listen i’m still kind of pissed at you so I kidnapped your girlfriend and was thinking that i’m cut her up into little pieces if you don’t come meet me by the docks.”

Jughead is all like

“Omg no not Betty!” but Penny is behind on the times and just has Toni. At this point Jughead is just like

“Lol sorry bitch. You’re barking up the wrong tree. Maybe call Cheryl.”

Betty comes home and Alice is just chillin on the couch, enjoying her evening. Betty is like

“ We gotta go right now.” but Alice already has popcorn on because Hal is going to show them home movies.

So Hal’s real name is Harold? What’s sad is that I find that to be the most shocking part of this. So Hal's dad murdered the conway family because they were sinners? What did these bitches do? Not recycle? So Hal went up to lil janitor before he became big janitor and convinced him that it wasn’t Hals dad who killed the guys family but some rando.

So Pappi Cooper killed Papi blossom and became Pappi Cooper as a cover. Does not make sense to me but okay. I feel like someone would done their ancestry tree and put this ish together but whatever.

So the Conway family knew the truth about this shit and blackmailed the Coopers about it. So those bitches need to die.

Hal has darkness and Betty has got it too so watch out kids. Elizabeth might kill next. I mean she already sent Chic to his death ( maybe)

Hal is like “ say it Betty. Say it out loud” and she’s like “ a vampire” jk. He’s the black hood. BUT there’s another black hood. Are they working together or is this just some random hoe? TBD.

Oh heck BH 2 is attacking Archie! Thank God Fred was there to take the bitch down. BUT makes the fatal mistake of not unmasking the guy when he had the chance. Fred gets shot AGAIN but thankfully ex Sheriff Hot pants gave him a bulletproof vest.

Alice and Betty are confused about why Hal is telling them all this and why he wants it recorded, and he’s like

“So everyone will understand when we’re gone, or what happened to us” or some bullshit like that. I don’t remember the exact words but it was very menacing. So like is he thinking a double murder suicide type thing or? That’s the vibe i’m getting tbh.

Jughead shows up to the docks and Penny has the Goolie with the heavy eye make up with her. He’s like fitting to taze Jughead but Juggie brought Katniss with him so they Gucci.

Penny just wants to live her life and sell drugs. If they don’t let her do that then the Goolies and the serpents are going to rumble, not a midnight, but at dawn. You know. To keep things fresh.

I forgot about this small fry guy and that he’s coming after the Lodges. Also forgot all about Veronica and Hermione shit talking Hiram while he’s out. So like Hiram is going to expose Freds affair with Hermione but Fred was separated at the time and i’m pretty sure he’s not divorced. So really it was Hermione who was cheating on her spouse. I mean yeah it’s not great for Fred but he wasn’t going against HIS family.

Veronica and Hermione are still fighting when Small Fry breaks down the damn door and is like “ your daddy killed my daddy, prepare to die.”

Hermione is a terrible shot and misses the first 7 times but she gets the bitch eventually.

So Sweet Pea and Jughead are fighting about what to do about the Goolies when FP walks in the tells everyone that Fangs died. The poor baby. They vote about what to do and they decide they’re going to fight the bitches. So I mean, shit it bound to get lit.

Although Alice just found out her no good rotten husband has murdered like a ton of people she can still verbally assault him. GOD HAL YOU ARE SO STUPID.

“Are you going to kill everyone who has ever jay walked?”

And damn, bringing out FP. That cuts deep. Kill it Alice. Oh shit Hal don’t kill Alice! Betty beats him over the head with a fire poker!

FP is stressed! So there are serpent reserves? Who would that be?

So Jughead calls Hiram and is like “ Hey buddy. I know you’re the one making all this shit happen so like let’s make a deal.”

Hiriam comes home and baby boy Andre is dead! He runs upstairs all freaked out that he might have to say rip to his fam but they’re just at the table, waiting for him to come home and clean up the dead body in the study. That’s a blue job.

So Hal is being arrested and Archie is like “ omg he just tried to shoot my dad like 20 mins ago” and Betty acts all shook like she doesn’t already know that there’s another black hood. Pull it together sister.

She gets a call from Jughead and he’s like “ I love you bitch. I ain’t ever going to stop loving you biiiitch” and then he says he’ll see her soon. COULD YOU JUST EXPLAIN YOURSELF REAL QUICK PLEASE?

Oh Hell. Jughead is giving himself over the Penny and the Goolies? So they’re just going to beat him to death and then murder all the serpents come morning? That seems extreme.

Hiriam took care of the body with the less hot ( but still hot) more crooked sheriff and Veronica is done with his shit.

Oh hell. FP carrying jugheads body? He isn’t dead. The bitch can’t be dead can he? It’s only the second season. Well damn guys. Guess we’ll have to see.

befor yestday like 4th August

my mom woke me to go with her to the mall and my my u can say i enjoed my day in my way

so i ran to the elevator and saw a spanish woman with another trolley i bet she had fun

we both had smol cool fun conversation like her english was pretty good ya know
