the character of alex murphy in himself is very intriguing and a kind of body horror i didnt expect.... a dead man walking... a corpse that died painfully and violently, and had his face peeled off and stretched onto the skull plate of a machine, remaining brain intertwined with microchips and processors... is he the alex murphy that died, or is he a machine with the memories of him? at what point does the amount of servos replacing nerves, pistons replacing tendons, make one no longer human? the second movie sucks but the fact that hes an irish catholic is very interesting.... i wonder if he still believes in god.... if he thinks he'll go to heaven, if part of him already is in heaven, if his machine body has a soul... would god listen to a praying machine?

robocop is a huge victim of the film industry missing the point.... watching the movie it was immediately obvious to me it was, above anything else, a horror drama criticizing and satirizing the social climate of the day...it was a very weird tonal shift to expect an satirical action flick and get something like that. i presume its not just me who experiences this with films that have been critically acclaimed either.....

i wish i was friends with more enjoyers of film.... very difficult to find good niche artsy moveys when i dont have someone telling me Watch This so instead i just watch blockbusters and go holy shit guys has anyone seen this indie film, its called "american psycho" i dont know if youv heard it.

genuinely insane how many big franchises from the 80s completely missed the point the initial film attempts to make because bro......is epic action scenes... alien, robocop, indiana jones, terminator, predator.... all admittedly flawed films but i keep watching them for the first time, or first time with a critical lens, and realizing that they are satirical or critiques on the current climate they were made within....... and then the points they make are forgotten or immediately dulled down and made very direct in subsequent film releases

watched robocop expecting an action buddy cop movie that ultimately misses the point of the establishment its about. recieved a horror film about what it means to be human, the socioeconomic crisis in the 80s, privatization of the police force,and also a bit of missing the point
