No. 30 - Wine | Jily Microfic
Tumblr media
@jilymicrofics - second to last one!!!
Read on AO3 | 886 words
This fic takes place after "Oak" which you can read here.
Lily glanced at her husband, admiring the way his forearms flexed as he poured them both a bottle of wine.
It had become a tradition of sorts, ever since they’d met over a bottle.
Not that it had been a meeting of coincidence - Euphemia Potter didn’t like to leave important moments to flimsy things like circumstance. But after their first year together, they’d always made a toast on this day. And today marked four years .
Lily’s stomach knotted with anticipation as James glanced up.
“Four years together, two years married,” he said raising his glass to toast her.
Lily left her glass on the table.
“I can’t toast you love,” she said, biting her lip to keep from grinning.
James looked adorably confused at that announcement, his own glass returning to the original place on the counter.
“What’s the matter beautiful?” he asked, concern furrowing his brow as stepped towards her, his arms finding the familiar place on her hips.
“Nothing James,” she answered truthfully “I just can’t drink wine.”
She saw the moment it hit him. The moment the slight frown on his forehead and concerned eyes underwent metamorphosis to a wide-eyed, cheek-hurting smile of happiness.
“You’re pregnant?” he confirmed in a whisper, as if afraid his voice would shatter the reality.
“We’re having a baby,” Lily answered, her own smile stretching wide to match his.
James let out something between a laugh and a sob as he drew her into a hug. Lily felt the wet press of their cheeks and reached up to wipe his tears only to realise they were both crying.
“You’re going to be an amazing mum,” James murmured into her ear.
“Well then this baby is going to be very lucky with two great parents, because his dads pretty amazing too,” Lily answered, melting into his hug.
“Do you think Remus and Sirius are going to have a tiff over who gets to be godfather?” James grinned.
“I think Remus already knows…or at least has a suspicion,” Lily admitted. “I haven’t told either of them anything, because obviously I wanted to tell you first,” she said, pausing with a smile as she tilted her head up at him, their chests still pressed together from their hug.
James delayed her next sentence by swooping down for a swift peck.
“But I’m pretty sure he caught me dumping the champagne out last night,” Lily continued, biting her lip. “And then I saw him eyeing my boobs and we both know he’s not checking them out.”
“Where were you dumping your champagne?” James laughed, leaning his forehead down to touch hers.
“In the plant” Lily giggled “If it dies, that’s why.”
James snorted, before gently moving his hands up to cup her breasts.
“I hadn’t noticed them change,” he muttered, looking like the absence of him picking up on a change in Lily’s body was a criminal offence.
“They haven’t yet,” Lily reassured him. “It’s still very early - but you know Dr Remus, I bet he was just checking for all the signs.”
“You were very sensitive the other night,” James hummed, his eyes sparkling mischievously as he brushed his fingers over where here nipples lay beneath her shirt.
Lily shuddered.
“Remus wouldn’t know that,” Lily said coyly. “That’s something only you could know”
“Now I know what to look out for next time,” James said quietly, his hands moving down to the small of her back and pulling her into his chest again.
Next time. Lily liked the sound of that.
“One kid at a time,” she teased, but her eyes must’ve given her away because James smiled knowingly and drew her into a long kiss.
When she had to come up for a breath, she paused. “How should we tell your mum?”
“I have an idea” James murmured before capturing her lips again.
One kid at a time. But certainly no harm in practising .
“Fleamont, can you get the door darling?” Euphemia called as she stepped into the mud room, tulips in her hands and a smudge of dirt of her cheek.
She hummed softly as she heard the soft steps of her husband making his way to the entrance, but she shucked her shoes off much quicker when she heard the light voice of her daughter-in-law laugh.
“Lily! James!” she said making her way around to greet them. “We weren’t expecting you”. She paused after releasing them from her long hug and looked closer. There was something different about them, Euphemia mused, there was a light in their eyes and a secret in the smile they exchanged. What was–
Her train of thought was cut off as her son answered her.
“No, but we have something for you, so we wanted to drop by” her son answered, handing her a bottle.
Euphemia glanced down where her hand had automatically come up to receive the gift.
It wasn’t just any bottle. It was the same wine Euphemia had sent her son on a chase for, four years ago. And…
Oh.
“ Fleamont ” she breathed, her hand coming to her heart.
She felt her husband move to her side so he could see what had caused such a reaction from his unflappable wife.
Dear Grandma,
Thank you for bringing my parents together. I can’t wait to meet you this summer.

A Place for You and Me
so I made a joke about combining the top three winners from this trope poll into one story, and my brain was like, okay but what if... and then my brain wouldn't shut up until I wrote this intro scene
The stones under her feet were slick even under her gentle steps. She gave all of her attention to walking across the rocks without tripping over the hem of her dress. Her mother would greet her with a firm tongue if she came home with the bottom of her dress muddy from the river. Still, she couldn't help but look ahead to the boy she was following with a hint of annoyance. Just a hint though.
"You are so lucky to be a boy," she called up to him. "Trousers are better for adventures than dresses."
"This was your idea," he reminded her; there was nothing harsh in his words, in fact, she could hear the smile in his voice. "We could turn back around."
“No. You promised you would show me, James.”
He laughed but didn’t deny her claim and she accepted that as a victory.
She didn't bother saying anything further, still focusing on where they were heading. Past this small river that was ten paces wide at its largest point, stood a clutter of trees that hid the winding walking path. And beyond the trees there was a meadow, a secret place tucked away between the trees and the river and the jagged edges of an old abandoned home—or so James had described the previous week after he had found it. She had listened eagerly to his words, basked in them as if they were the sunshine now warming her skin, consumed them as if they were the chilled glass of water awaiting her at home on this hot summer’s day.
James was always going on adventures like this and sharing them with her whenever he and his mother came over to visit with her mother. It was unfair that he was given the freedom to go exploring when she was often kept within the confines of her own garden, the hedges surrounding it as impenetrable as a stone wall. It was not as though he were older than her—in fact, he was almost two months younger!—and hardly a more mature thirteen than she.
She had complained about this many times in the past, mostly to him, but sometimes to her mother who met her daughter’s chagrin with a level, unperturbed look. Lily learned quickly that expressing her annoyance to her mother did not lead her to the end she wished it would.
But today… this glorious August day, she had freedom to explore right alongside him. And the first order of business was finding this meadow.
The moment the soft soles of her shoes touched the hard ground, her hand grasped in James’ steady hand for improved balance, she told him, “Mary found out she has been promised.”
James turned back to look at her in surprise, his shock of hair only accentuating the look on his face; normally it would have made her laugh, but it didn’t seem so funny today. “Macdonald? To who?”
“To whom,” Lily corrected automatically, but James only rolled his eyes. “She doesn’t know yet. One of the Fawley brothers. Can you—?”
“Fawley?” James said, ignoring Lily’s glare at being interrupted. “But the youngest Fawley has to be nearly eighteen by now.”
Lily grimaced. “Can you imagine? Being promised to someone?”
He laughed, tugging her forward faster on the path now. “Sure.”
“You can!”
“Come on, Ms. Evans. It won’t do to dawdle,” he teased, a clear impression of Lily’s older sister that left her in a fit of giggles.
“I am just saying,” she began again, once she had recovered, “I am very glad my mother and father will not be choosing the same for me! Imagine! Just imagine!”
“I would rather not,” came his simple reply. “Poor fellow. You would drive him mad with your talks of adventure.”
Lily nearly frowned, stopping suddenly; their linked hands caused James to stop too, though their hands fell apart. “I don’t drive you mad, James.”
“That’s because we’re the same sort of mad, aren’t we?” he said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world. Where they had stopped, the trees were starting to thin, letting in beams of sunlight that danced between the branches of the trees. James looked like he was glowing. “It would not be so bad, I think, to be promised to someone. It would not be so bad if you were promised to me, would it?”
She laughed, tucking her hand back into his and urging him onward. “Don’t be silly, James. Are we nearly there?”
James’ answer came in the form of pulling her faster through the widening pathway until they stepped out of the trees and directly into the sunshine. They were met with an expanse of wildflowers that danced in the breeze in welcome. Lily’s breath caught as she took it all in, this beautiful hidden place that James had somehow found, with its vibrant colors and gentle breeze. The river cut a path through the land as if carved there precisely, its water flowing docilly. As if built into the hillside, the stone-walled cottage with its patchy thatched roof looked like the kind of place a fairy would live.
There was no way he could know this, but it was as if James had plucked this place out of one of her favorite fairytales.
“What do you think?” he asked after a moment.
“I think you have found the most wonderful place in the world, James.”

I’m stuck at the airport right now and seem to have a creative strike.
So here’s my take on how I imagine Lily would’ve told James THE NEWS if you know what I mean. Because let’s be honest…at nineteen and fighting in a war there’s a rather large chance they hadn’t planned this. Anyways, I like to imagine they were thrilled after the initial shock though, so here we go.
I hope you’ll enjoy my little jily drabble! xx
I’ve found this amazing piece of art which fits my story! absolutely stunning @blvnk-art !!

Rowling Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: James Potter/Lily Evans Potter, Harry Potter & James Potter & Lily Evans Potter Characters: Harry Potter, Lily Evans Potter, James Potter Additional Tags: Pre-Canon, First Wizarding War with Voldemort (Harry Potter), Background James Potter & Sirius Black, Unplanned Pregnancy, Pregnancy, Pregnancy discovered, Lily Evans Potter Loves James Potter, James Potter Loves Lily Evans Potter Summary:
Lily’s eyes finally moved away from the green vial as she brought her shaky hands to her belly. It was an easy potion to make: water, a dried leaf of red cabbage, a baby hair from the mother, and an altered revelio spell, but her hands shook the entire time. She was wearing James’ Christmas sweater that had shiny antlers sticking out of it, and they poked at her palms as she pressed them against her stomach, but she was touching where her son was growing, and that was just the best feeling, wasn’t it? Feeling that there’s a life she and James

Update: KUBME - Chapter 9
Tumblr media
After a long, long wait - I do sincerely apologise - she is here: Chapter 9 of Knocked Up By My Ex. Read the chapter HERE! P.s. When I put all the 5 stars in the reviews in the image, I didn't mean to imply this fic should be rated as such. It's definitely not perfect and could be so much better! But, of course, James and Lily are perfection and all characters in my fic agree on that, so they only give 5-star reviews.

so yeah... remember that thing I was thinking about writing with no build up? well there’s a bit more build up than expected (shocking)...
There was still the faintest hint of dungbomb smell in the air of the staff room, and despite the fact that Lily’s morning (really, all day) sickness had subsided substantially, it still felt prudent for James to head her off before she made the mistake of going there for her mid-afternoon tea.
(He ignored the overwhelming urge to investigate the smell further, as every odor removal and masking spell he could think of—of which he knew many, from his time at school—did not work as well as he’d expected. He idly wondered if there was a new brand of dungbomb on the market that was stronger than ever—not that this was important.)
It was Tuesday and Lily had the afternoon free from classes, which usually meant she dedicated herself to marking assignments until her eyes crossed. A few gentle knocks on her classroom door later, he found her exactly as he expected: sat at her desk, several tall stacks of parchment around her, a quill scribbling away in front of one of her massive inkpots.
“One sec,” she called as she worked.
James didn’t feel the need to reply as he ambled over to her desk, slipping his hand around the back of a chair and sliding onto it once he reached the front of her desk. He was met with a studying glance, the startlingly green shock of her eyes searching him in between pauses in her writing, and he felt a little jolt in his stomach that was growing more difficult to ignore every time he was with her now.
Eventually, he’d have to face it head-on, to muster up the courage that he was severely lacking, and tell her how he felt about her, a prospect that also grew more intimidating the more he thought about the child growing inside her.
“Making yourself at home, are you?”
James bit back a grin at her teasing tone. “Sorry. Quite rude of me, wasn’t it? Inviting myself in?”
“I might be open to forgiving you if you have a good reason for doing so.”
“The picture of mercy, you are, Evans. I did not mean to intrude but I wanted to warn you that there’s a fairly pungent dungbomb smell hanging around the staff room before you experienced it yourself.”
Lily pulled a face. “Thank you for the warning. I’ve been so focused on these essays that I hadn’t made my way down for tea yet. That certainly would have been an unpleasant discovery.”
“Feeling unwell today?”
She shook her head, sending the red waves at her shoulders swaying. “I think I’m through the worst of it now. The occasional smell will get to me, but I suppose that’s to be expected considering the vast number of ingredients I’m handling daily”—James held his tongue, as much as he wanted to bring up a conversation about potion limitation for the hundredth time—“but nothing unmanageable. I haven’t even needed any anti-nausea potion since last Thursday.”
“That’s great,” James said, and he meant it earnestly. “Getting through the constant feeling. Brilliant.”
She glanced between him and the parchment, paused, then reached for her quill again, redness starting to build at her neck as she continued, “Yes. Seems I’ve moved on from the constant state of nausea to the constant state of horniness.”
A shock shot down his spine, directly into his groin as these words registered. “Oh?”
Lily chewed her lip. “Sorry. That was a bit of an overshare.”
“No—no need for apologies. I think we’re past the point of oversharing now, aren’t we? I mean… considering everything that’s to come.”
“That’s true. It’s nice to have at least one person to confide in,” Lily said, mouth twisted in a wry smile as she reinked her quill. “Besides, this is sort of your fault.”
“My fault? Y’know… usually when a woman tells me it’s my fault she’s horny, it’s far less bruising to my ego.”
“Well… it is at least half your fault,” she said, in the way she said things at times, as if hidden within her tone were the words: it’s not personal, love, it’s simply the objective truth. “You could show some sympathy, you know!”
“Sympathy?”
“Yes. It’s—oh, it’s maddening, feeling this way. I’ve wanted sex all the time over the last few days. Every spare moment I’m daydreaming like a teenager—not to mention my real dreams about it! It’s inconvenient at best, embarrassing at worst! In fact, just a few minutes ago I was losing concentration while marking because all I could think about was slipping my hand between my thighs for some relief and…”
Her voice trailed off the moment she looked up at him. It wasn’t difficult to guess why, based on the rising pulse in his trousers that he was confident was clearly spelled out on his stupid face. Before he could stop himself, a pained, “Evans,” came out.
She chewed her lower lip in a way that made him want to do the same. “What?”
“That’s—fuck that’s one of the hottest things I’ve ever heard.”
“Is it?” She exhaled the words, now setting down the quill he suspected she’d long forgotten about. “What if you had walked in during?”
“Evans.”
Something in her soft almost meek questioning changed, a curl coming to her lips that he associated with mischief, with confidence. It was sexy and it was not helping the situation in his trousers.
“You look pained, James. Why is that?”
He realized her hands were no longer visible on top of the table. “You know why.”
“Tell me. Please. Just this one time.”
One time? One time? Is that all you want from me?
“What do you want, Lily? What do you need?”
She closed her eyes, held tilting back slightly, and if he didn’t already know with certainty, her next words removed all doubt about what she was doing, “Watch me.”

to ache, to hope || Read on ao3 || 1.8K Words
He flounders for a few seconds more and Lily remembers the nerves—frightening but exciting—when they found out she was pregnant with Harry. It had been tinged with recklessness, but exhilarating all the same—the feverish anticipation with a little risk she’d learned to embrace with James at her side. This just seemed…reckless. Full stop.
Excited for @thegobletofweasleys Jily Week 2023! Predictably, I chose angst for day one's prompt "Angst/Fluff".
A note from me: Please please please read the tags on this fic before diving in, as it deals with a very sensitive and heavy topic and will not be for everyone. Appreciate you all <3

Very fluffy moment: an AU where Jily lives- ofc-and Hinny tells them about the new baby (can be any of the pregnancies)
LOVE SOME GOOD JILY LIVES FLUFF
"Why are you so nervous?" Ginny asked him, squeezing his hand as they waited by the front door. "You know they'll be happy for us, right?"
Harry shook his head. "That's the problem. They'll be too happy. Remember when we told them we were engaged?"
"Well, at least we're prepared for the dramatics," she assured him.
Just then, the door swung open, James smiling brightly at his son and daughter-in-law. "There's the most beautiful couple in the world," he proclaimed, bringing them both into a hug.
"Never prepared enough," Harry whispered to Ginny out of the corner of his mouth. She giggled.
"What was that?" James asked as they broke apart.
"Nothing," Harry waved off. "Hi, Dad."
They stepped inside the Godric's Hollow cottage to see the table fully set, Lily taking out one last thing from the oven.
"Mum," Harry sighed, walking over to her. "I told you I'd help with dinner tonight."
"Don't worry about it, love," she said, reaching up and kissing his cheek. "I wanted to give you a break, I know you've been working hard."
"But I like cooking with you," he told her earnestly.
"That's sweet, Harry," Ginny interjected, patting his arm. "But let your mum mother you for the night, yeah?"
"Listen to your wife, kid," James said as he put on oven mitts and picked up a tray to bring to the table. "How are you doing, Gin?"
"Great," she said, smiling. Then, "Pregnant."
The tray slipped from James's hands and shattered to the floor. All three of them were staring at her, Harry somewhat exasperated. Being the only one not in shock, she took out her wand and cleared up the mess, the tray all put together back on the table.
Harry shook out of his stupor. "I thought we were going to tell them after dinner," he murmured.
"Sorry," she responded, though he wasn't sure she meant it. She continued to smile. "You know me. Impulsive. Felt like the right moment."
They looked back at James and Lily, both still looking stunned.
"Surprise?" Harry tried.
"I know you're both pretty young to be grandparents," Ginny said. "But if it's any consolation, you're going to be like, the coolest grandparents anybody has ever had."
The word "grandparents" seemed to do it. James started to laugh and Lily burst into tears.
"Bloody hell," James exclaimed, wrapping Ginny up in a bear hug. "You're having a baby!"
"Mum, it's okay," Harry tried, rushing over to Lily.
Lily grabbed his face and smiled brightly. "You're going to be the most amazing, loving, caring, magnificent, brilliant father-"
James broke away from Ginny and looked towards his wife. "Hey, hey, hey, what am I, then?"
"The most amazing, loving, caring, magnificent, brilliant grandfather?" Harry tried.
"Oh god, what do I go by? Grandpa? Grandad? Papa?"
"Absolutely not Papa," Lily intervened, wiping her tears.
"Sorry, right, that's reserved for-"
"Stop!" Harry warned, and all three of them laughed. "Why don't we sit down and eat, yeah?"
They all listened, but as soon as they started piling food on their plates, James started again. "Need name ideas? 'Cause I've got one-"
"Let me guess," said Lily. "Is it James?"
Ginny giggled.
"What?" James asked, feigning innocence. "It's a classic name!"
"We'll see," said Harry, smiling in spite of himself.
