Jax x timid!reader

A request from ao3! Since I jumped aboard the bandwagon oops

Ever since you arrived at the digital circus, you’ve been spending a lot of time around Jax, which nobody knew why, since they soon found out how timid you are, and Jax is… quite the opposite. Not even you know why you spend time with him. Whenever Caine gives you activities to do, you will usually help Jax with them, unless you get pulled along by one of the others, or if he’s suddenly disappeared in the middle of the activity.

It was another day, you had gotten up from a nap; you knew you didn’t really have to sleep, but it felt nice to just close your eyes for a while. You were going to meet up with the others, so you left your room, closing the door behind you, and went to where you would usually meet up. However, Caine had another activity for you to do.

“I have come to a decision! Today is going to be a little different, as I want to make Y/n here a little more comfortable.”

“And you didn’t think to do that when they first got here?” You glanced over at Jax, who had been standing beside you this whole time.

“Oh never mind that, Jax! Anyways! We’re doing something a little simple this time around! There are papers scattered around the place, and I want you all to find them and make something out of it! Can be anything!”

“That is your activity? That… is super (meep!) lame.” You heard Zooble say behind you. You actually were pretty glad it was something tame this time around

“Well that’s the activity, and I’m not changing it! Now have fun!” And with that, Caine disappeared like usual. You looked back at the others, and before you could say anything, you heard Zooble speak up

“Yeah, I’m not doing this (beep!). You know where to find me if you need me.” Figures. You looked back at Jax, hoping that he would do this activity with you.

“What are you giving me that look for, Y/n?” He asked as he noticed you looking at him. “You… want me to do this activity with you?”

“If you don’t want to then I understand.” You said just loud enough for him to hear as you pressed your fingers together nervously. Jax was going to say something, but noticed the look Ragatha gave him of “you better not hurt their feelings or I’ll hurt you,” which normally wouldn’t affect him, but he had a feeling that if he didn’t say yes, then she was actually going to hurt him.

“Alright, we can do the activity together.”

“Really?” Your eyes lit up. “Let’s get to looking then..!” You two started walking to find some paper that Caine had scattered around. As the two of you walked, Jax was a bit lost in thought as he occasionally glanced over at you, thinking about how you spend so much time with him and that he actually didn’t mind it. While he won’t say this to you out loud, he actually thinks you’re kind of cute, despite how timid you are. Jax was brought out of his thoughts as you spoke up,

“I found some!” You held up several sheets of paper, some were regular sheets of paper, while some were colored, that you had found after wandering the different rooms.

“That’s great, Y/n. Now come on, let’s go find a place to sit and just… I dunno, create whatever.” You nodded and followed after him. As you were walking, you were thinking of what you wanted to do with the paper, but occasionally your thoughts would focus on Jax. You were afraid to tell him, but you enjoyed being around him, despite how you were practically polar opposites, him being a little smug and confident, while you were timid and not so confident. You may or may not have feelings for him, but there was no way you could ever tell him that either.

You squeaked a bit as you suddenly bumped into Jax, looking up at him.

“Is something wrong..?” You asked him, holding the sheets of paper close to your body.

“Nah, was just going to ask if this space will work?” You looked over to see a decent sized table in front of you. You nodded and went over to the table, setting the paper down in front of you, Jax sitting across from you. You grabbed one of the sheets of colored paper, which was (f/c), you started folding and bending the paper, and soon, you held up the origami swan in your hands, a faint smile on your face

“I haven’t done that in years.” Jax grabbed one of the papers that you set on the table and started folding and bending it… however, it seems he was having trouble.

“So you just want to watch me struggle, hmm?” He asked you as he glanced back up at you. You laughed a bit and moved closer to him.

“Here…” you took his hands into your own and showed him what you did, and the next thing you knew, you had helped him with an origami swan. “And there we go! Th..that’s what I did.”

“Thanks, Y/n.”

“Of course..! I..it’s not a problem, Jax.” You two went quiet as you grabbed another paper, doodling and other things. That is, until Jax spoke up once more.

“Y/n, can I ask you something?”

“Yeah? What’s up, Jax?” You looked up from the paper you were doodling on.

“Why do you like hanging around me? I mean, I ain’t complaining, just… curious.”

“Well…” was he onto you? No, there’s no way.

“Well?”

“Because I like you. I like hanging around you.” You glanced away from him, pressing your fingers together nervously, but stopped as he grabbed your hands.

“Are you being serious, Y/n?”

“Y…yes.” Now you were even more nervous. Was he going to tell you to stop hanging out with him??

“Good, because I like you too.” You felt your hair being ruffled as Jax chuckled softly.

“Wait… what?”

“What? I said I like you too.”

“You really do?!”

“Yes. I do.” You swore you thought you were going to cry, but you shook your head, got up and over to him, hugging him.

“Whoa, hey..!” He laughed a bit, caught off guard by your sudden hug, but eventually hugged you back.

“S..sorry, I just didn’t think you’d feel the same way.”

“It’s alright, Y/n. Come on, show me how to make other origami things.”

“Oh, okay..!” You nodded and you two spent the next several hours making origami and talking about whatever came to mind, bringing you two even closer together.

Jax Lets You Sleep in His Room

Pairing: Jax x Reader

Tags: fluff, cuddles, only one bed trope, teasing, Jax is still rude but charming

A/N: Finally watched this fun show of existential dread. Not surprised that Jax is my favorite.

He is only doing this so you would stop complaining about how your room isn't finished yet

Caine was the one who got dragged away for something important, leaving you with no place to sleep for the night and Jax decided that he had enough of you looking like an abandoned puppy

If someone was gonna be miserable it would be because of his actions

Lets you know how sad he thinks you look, it does finally get a rise out of you and you call him a huge jerk

Yes, and he is proud of it

In his room there is only one bed

No way is he sleeping on the floor, you should be happy he even let you in his room, you won't get his bed too

Jax is not about to lose sleep over someone else's mistake

Does sleep fully clothed but makes jokes about what's underneath his overalls

As his luck would have it you couldn't fall asleep on the floor

He briefly considered kicking you out

For one night only he will let you share his bed with him, but if you tell anyone he will kick you into the Void

Sharing his bed was more awkward then you thought, he didn't know what position to take since he always had this bed all to himself

Deflecting his own nervousness he resorts to more teasing when he pulls you against him and jokes about bunnies in heat

His plan works and now he's shaking with laughter as you call him a pervert as well

Oh like he would ever go for a scared little newcomer like you, don't flatter yourself you hear, he was just having a laugh

If you wanna sleep then you better get comfy against him fast, he's not moving and for some reason you're very comfy to hold

When he holds you he feels himself falling asleep easier then ever before, or at least as close to sleep as he can get in this damned place

You wait until his arms around you loosen, you could pull away, yet it feels comforting to be held on your first night in this weird world

In the morning both of you are the talk of the day and the subject of teasing as the new lovebirds, which you are not... yet

Pomni, Kinger, Caine & Jax's reaction to their s/o abstracting

warning(s): angst, hurt no comfort, self-blame, "death" of the reader, implied "death"/abstraction of another character (spoiler: Kinger), hopeful outcome note(s): There's nothing incredibly heavy or detailed, just tread carefully if "death" is something you are sensitive to, please. The "hopeful outcome" implies that Caine will at some point in time be able to fix those who've abstracted. A/N: I was feeling particularly cruel and wanted to write some angst, this came to mind and I'll be honest. I made myself a little sad.

Pomni

She never saw it coming, of course, you were acting different lately but she didn’t think it would… lead to you abstracting…

It took forever for things to get some semblance of normalcy, and you being with her was a major part of it.

Sure the relationship in a place like this was a bit, weird, but you cared about her, and she cared about you.

You kept her sane and grounded, so when you were found abstracted? It felt like she failed you.

Ragatha tries to assure her that you aren’t completely gone. Like Kaufmo you’re being kept in the cellar. Caine claims the abstracted are being kept there until he can find a way to “fix” them. (Whether he’s genuine or not though, none of them know.)

It’s all empty promises though, she still feels like she failed you.

Kinger

Not again…

Kinger silently promised himself not again, he was fine being friendly with everyone else that fell into the circus, but he had no intentions of being more than that.

But then you happened, and while he was still in shambles from the time and the insanity spent here, you were there beside him. Like a knight in shining armor.

He hadn’t been around when you abstracted, in fact, he didn’t know you abstracted until there was yelling, and boom an abstraction was causing chaos.

Kinger didn’t know who it was until it was sent off to the cellar, actually, he didn’t know who it was until he realized everyone was present except you.

There’s a high probability that losing someone again, losing you, is what ends up being his own downfall. The other’s (not including Jax) try their all to get him to calm down but it’s not enough, it’s too late…

Caine

Of all the humans to be pulled in he never once got attached.

This was never supposed to happen, he’s incapable of love.

Caine does his best to keep the humans from abstracting, and as many eyes as he has over the place, there are always ones that slip through his grasp.

Of course, he’s not around when you abstract, it takes a bunch of hooting and hollering from everyone before he shows up and oh hey an abstraction.

At an immediate glance, he knows it’s you, abstractions never remotely look like the person they were before but he knows it’s you. You don’t recognize him as you lash out, of course you don’t, you can’t.

He’s unsure about tossing you with the others in the cellar, there’s nowhere else he can truthfully keep you without causing problems. So into the cellar, you go.

Caine visits you though, not for long but he does check in on you. Not that anything changes, but out of all the abstractions down there, he knows exactly which one is you.

You’ll be the first human he fixes as soon as he’s able to.

Jax

His s/o abstracted? Nice joke, though it’s in poor taste. You’re completely fine, he just saw you earlier.

Jax doesn’t believe it until he sees it, and seeing it absolutely ruins him. He’s seen countless others get abstracted and thrown into the cellar, but why, why does it have to be you?

Why couldn’t it have been literally anyone else? He didn’t give a shit about anyone else, the one person he cared for, and you…

Similarly to Pomni, he feels it’s his fault like he could’ve, no should’ve done more. Was he so wrapped up in everything else that he didn’t notice the signs? Why didn’t you talk to him? You didn’t, didn’t do that on purpose, did you?

For the first time ever, the others are genuinely worried about Jax, they all saw/know how much you meant to him. The two of you even spoke fondly about what the two of you would do if you got out of the circus.

For a while Jax becomes even more irrational and unhinged, they try not to hold it against him too badly, even when he oversteps. He’s grieving and none of them know just how long that’ll go on.

Jax isn’t quite the same afterward, but he makes sure that nobody else tries to worm their way into his heart.

If it’s possible, he’ll make sure Caine fixes you the second he’s able to. Even if Caine can fix only one person, it’s going to be you.

Can you do headcanons for a young child reader who constantly follows jax around, loves physical affection, and thinks jax is their 'dad'?

(Obviously this request is plantonic, not romantic!)

I think I might've went a little overboard with this one! Way longer than most of my posts but I guess that isn't really a bad thing ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Jax unwillingly becomeing a parent

★ His first and only question was how the hell did a four year old get in this situation. The headset should have been way out of reach for you. Questions that will never be answered, I guess.

★ After making you cry the first time he spoke to you he tried to steer clear of you. That worked out horribly because you seemed to want to always be near him. Much to everyone's confusion.

★ "oh my! Looks like the little one has taken an interest in you!" Was Cain's response to seeing you huddled up near Jax. At some point he gets a child harness to keep you in his line of sight. It's just easier this way.

★ By the way he didn't mean to make you cry, he just didn't know how young you were and said something he would've said to an adult. Kids cry easily, what are you gonna do?

★ Jax stole a few pillows from Kinger for you to sleep with. Yes, you don't technically need to sleep but he's not going to tell you that. Nap time is one of the only times he can get a moment to himself.

★ He gets beyond pissed when you get woken up during nap time. To the point where he's barely keeping it together and wants to beat whoever woke you up with a chair leg.

★ If you want to be picked up, then he's picking you up. It doesn't matter if he's talking to somebody or doing something. You'll get picked up while he's doing something and without missing a beat he'll continue like nothing happened.

★ Instead of giving you the usual Jax treatment, he just tells you the most outlandish lies while trying to convince you that they are true. Sometimes he tells you something true so you don't question his bullshit.

There's a list of things he's told you!

If you push down on Ragatha's nose it will make a honking noise.

There's a secret room hidden in a closet filled with veggies for people who are allergic to meat.

Birds aren't real.

When he was your age he was a year older. (It took you a moment to figure that one out)

Caine is the tooth fairy.

★ Jax isn't known for his empathy, but he does feel conflicted when you talk about small details from your life before meeting him. What color your house was, the lullabies your mother sang and the books you used to be read. It all makes him think.

★ You're family might be looking for you, not knowing where you are and that you're trapped. Do you even realize this? They probably think you're dead, that something terrible happened to you. Those thoughts make his stomach sink.

★ If he cares about you this much he can only imagine the grief your family feels. You will forever be a blissfully ignorant child not knowing the truth of what's really going on.

Jax x cat-like!reader

Requested over on ao3! Reader’s digital form is that of a cat with cartoony arms and legs!

No one in the Digital Circus would have guessed that you and Jax would get along, considering you are very cat-like, and cats and rabbits don’t usually get along in nature. However, not with you and Jax, you two got along pretty well since you two are both pranksters, but you two tend to joke and mock each other. The thing is, which is quite unfortunate for Caine and the others, you two occasionally get into little prank wars. Fortunately it never goes too far to where it hurts anyone as you don’t want to actually hurt anyone with your pranks.

Jax had started the first one with the ole bucket of water above the door prank, which you did not appreciate very much, and so began your series of pranks against each other. The others would avoid you two to not get caught in the crossfire, even if your pranks are harmless.

Now you two were in another prank war, which you accidentally started. You didn’t mean to, it just happened! You were just hoping this wasn’t going to last very long, but you weren’t going to just give up, no. No, you wanted him to give up first.

“Jax will not get the better of me.” You would tell yourself as you prepare your next prank. You had to keep an eye out for the smug boy so he wouldn’t ruin your prank. Unfortunately for you, Jax would not be the one on the receiving end of the prank, but rather a very unfortunate Caine who was making sure things were running smoothly and mostly checking on everyone, even if he won’t outright say it.

You were just waiting for Jax to show up, lightly tapping your foot in slight anticipation to what was about to happen, that is, until you heard a familiar voice, not one you were expecting at that moment. Not Jax’s, but Caine’s.

“Y/n! It is always a pleasure to see you!” You went to warn him about your “contraption” but the next thing you knew, the poor ringmaster was covered in glitter.

“Y/n.”

“Yes, Caine..?” You knew he wasn’t very happy.

“Oh (bonk!) kitten, did you end up getting Caine instead of little ole me?” You saw Jax standing in the doorway, trying his best not to (boop!) off.

“I’m sorry, Caine, you weren’t my target! I was trying to get Jax back for earlier!”

“I was wondering what you were up to after that. Saw ya working on something but you wouldn’t let me near it.”

“Yeah, that would ruin the whole thing.”

“Enough!” You two stopped talking and looked over at Caine, who had his arms crossed. “You two are going into… the time out zone!”

“What the (heck) is that?”

“You’ll see in a moment!” And with that, Caine snapped his fingers and both you and Jax were in a room. You took a look around, only to find… it was your room!

“Wait what? This is just my room.” You raised a curious eyebrow before sitting on the bed.

“I can’t believe he put us into time out, over what? A rather funny prank.” Jax crossed his arms and sat beside you

“Yeah, we’re not children.” You shook your head.

“That may be true, kit kat, but I’m not the one who pranked Caine.” Jax looked down at you, a bit of a smug smile on his face.

“That wasn’t my fault nor my intention! I was trying to get back at you!” You gave him a light, playful shove.

“But you’ve gotta admit,” Jax chuckled a bit, “his reaction was priceless! Unfortunately we won’t be able to do that again unless we want to be put into “time out” again.”

“Yeah, that is true.” You lie back, staring up at the ceiling.

“…thanks, Jax.”

“For what?”

“Making my time here more entertaining. If it wasn’t for you and our little pranks, I probably would’ve went a little crazy. I mean, sure, the others are nice, and are fun to be around, but not as much as you.” Jax was actually a bit surprised to hear you say that, but he brushed it off and pats your head.

“Of course, Y/n.”

“Though I think for now… we should call it even and have a truce for now.” You held your hand out to him.

“Fine, fine. Just so we don’t get into trouble with Caine again.” He took your hand into his own and shook it. You then proceeded to pull him down so that he was beside you.

“What are you doing, kitten?”

“Well, while we’re in “time out” we may as well just get comfortable for a bit.”

“You know I have a key to your room, right? So I could get us out of here.”

“Sure, but let’s just stay here for a while, relax, the others have no idea.”

“Yeah, I guess so.” Jax shrugged and stared up at the ceiling. “Thanks… for sticking with me, Y/n.”

“It’s no problem, Jax.” You smiled softly and closed your eyes, not falling asleep or anything, just getting comfortable. The two of you ended up spending time together talking, and debating on what kind of shenanigans you’ll get into once you leave the room.

Jax x Sleepy! Reader

You were dozing off, Jax’s words nothing more that a distant buzz. This couch was so comfy… Your eyelids drooped and you leaned in- “Are you even listening to a word I’m saying?” You jolt, sitting upright once more, “Huh?”

“Of course not,” Jax rolls his eyes, “why would you? It’s not like we were having a conversation or anything.” You rub your eyes, yawning a bit, “Sorry… What were you saying?”

He snorts and starts again, something about the food being the same old same old. His voice was so soothing, you couldnt help but close your eyes… Youre slipping into rest once more, sighing happily.

“Are you kidding?!” Jax lightly smacks you, and your eyes only open slightly, “S’rry… keep goin… like your voice…” you mumbled. Jax’s face flushed pink, caught entirely off guard.

He sighed, reaching out and tugging you into his lap. You were surprised, but his lap made for a nice pillow. You hummed, smiling a bit as you scooted into a comfortable position.

Jax began to talk again, this time not really talking about anything in particular. Just gossip or useless fun facts that came to mind, all the while twirling your hair in his fingers.

Once he was sure you’d drifted off to sleep for real, this time, he mumbled under his breath, “You’re really adorable, you know? I like you a lot…”
