anyways i love you people that are both gay and straight, in whatever way that presents. being nonbinary often can mean a complicated relationship to sexuality and how one perceives it within the societal restrictions of homo and heterosexual, and i think bridging those definitions and having "contradictory" labels like lesboy or whatever is really cool. i support and stan he/him lesbians or butch lesbians or she/her gay men or femme gays or she/he pronoun users and whatever else, be it cis or trans or both. if you feel like youre both cis and trans that also rocks. dont let people force you back into a binary within the queer community, stay strong!

few things of note now that i finally found the whole pictures of 'steve's' office (from here for others like me who were unsure) i noticed that;

a: they took away his rabbit mail holder in the actual film

but they ALSO removed that second 'award' from the corner of his shelf to put that box there. the box was originally on his actual bookcase next to the other locked box (that looks slightly similar to the fn/af4 box, i'd say a little more so than the one they moved, but whatever. also if im reading it correctly, the sticket on the box says 'ports and film.' but it may also say 'file'. the first may also say 'porth' or 'porte', i'm dyslexic so its hard to tell, but 'ports and film' make the most sense to me. )

my assumption for the rabbit mail holder was it was too on the nose, maybe, and the rabbits foot is smaller and less likely to be noticeable so its smaller easter eggs. The lamp behind him and the chairs are also spring bonnie colored if you notice, which gives more subtle hints as to who he is (honestly the fans knew, a: s/cott leaked it to d/awko immediately after m/atthew signed the contract, and b: m/atthew kind of leaked it himself too lol)

they also changed positions of a few things here and there, noticeable here when in the movie the camera focuses on mike

they sort of swapped the position of the coffee table and moved the stuff behind the chairs to the side instead.

those big file cabinets also seem to have been moved completely. which as a nerd im super interested in. i believe they put the one award they moved the box for on the wall in the screencap above.

also, another little thing i noticed; the inside of his cup kind of looks like freddy's mouth

looks a little bit like a mouth, this is the best i could find in the movie itself but one of the games had an animatronics mouth look like that (I think this is more coincidence but its a cool coincidence)

also!!! the award they moved from the shelf to put the box there instead? we see it again later, when mike calls him to ask if the jobs still open.

its on his desk, no longer framed, unfortunately i cant read what it says though.

and heres some close ups (as good as i could) of 'steve's' office. mostly things with writing on them. i sharpened them as well as i could.

the now infamous participation award is front and center of course, but i do thing the 'certificate of regional social worker of the year' award should also be noticed, bc who let him--

the painting on the side of him, its like a road with a tree

labels for probably files from 97 and 98.

i'm pretty sure the 099111 were numbers found on scotts website or a 'glitch' in one of the games at one point iirc. i remember the numbers from something.

i believe the one box says like, 145-176 or something. earlier i thought it said 1995-1996 but sharpening it i think it looks more three digit number to me.

cant' really read any of it ngl

honestly i think sharpnening it might have made it even harder to read but i couldnt make it out either way.

The great thing about being in charge of our own book design stuff is that we can, in fact, decide to go through a ridiculous amount of effort to create custom headers for every chapter.

We've gotten about two thirds of the way through Shadow Herald's headers right now. Downside; every time a chapter takes place in a new location, we have to draw that location. Upside; every time we draw a location, we can reuse it later. My gods do the shop interiors take forever.

okay actually looked at the lover boy wip intro again and this has me crazy because the grief in this was meant to all be about bobby but "remember that his favourite fruit was peaches and try not to cry over it" got me because felix's favourite fruit being peaches is like. a recent but definitive part of his character. and i can't remember if i just used peaches as a placeholder for bobby's favourite fruit (he does not give peach to me) and if i first wrote this before or after i decided peaches were felix's BUT now i'm like. what if this passage is him grieving bobby but it spirals around his grief for his relationship with felix??? find a lover the way you found felix and don't lose him this time but also find a lover because you're trying to find a connection as deep as the one you had with your best friend even though you know it can never be replicated. you can never find a lover that will love you like bobby (platonic, to be clear) loved you. find a lover in the fact you are alive even though it makes you nauseous because it just reminds you that your best friend isn't. how do you grieve someone who's still alive whilst simultaneously grieve someone who isnt? trying to grieve two people in two different ways and you feel guilty at the way they blend and blur because it feels like you lose your separate grips on both of them and you don't feel like you have space in you to accommodate all this ache. and like what if i edited all this to make that parallel more clear?? that his primary grief is bobby because he's the one who's dead but he's also grieving felix and probably doesn't even realise it?? and then the two become blurred?? and if he realised this he would actually feel fucking awful about it and like a bad friend?? haha just kidding unless??

#especially the fact that a component of his “find a lover to try and mask the grief” is trying to find a lover in the literal sense.#its near 1am you guys are getting the i dont know if this is coherent infodumping #i wrote an essay in the tags but its gone and i have no idea if tumblr ate it or i somehow put it on a different post but im like oh okay #guess i will just save that analysis for the writing update!!#my lover boy writing updates are gonna be so obnoxious btw theyre gonna be essays theyre gonna be me putting the degree to use #now i can say i actually have one #i wrote a DISSERATION on the exact type of fiction that lover boy is.......#anyway it was about queerness and loss and what loss means thematically in queer narratives #so that whilst the loss of bobby is absolutely monumentally bigger than losing felix as a partner #it is actually not a surprise if beau somewhat blurs his grief for the two #that being said whilst i dont believe in ranking different types of love/relationships #i love the idea of platonic lover and this platonic connection being just as if not more powerful than the romantic one #could essay about that but tumblr might eat it! so!
