Okay so I just finished re-reading Girl Genius again this morning (I’m blaming you @prokopetz for reminding me it is a webcomic that exists in more than just thrice-weekly updates) and I’m urging everyone to read it. Re-read it if you’ve already read it once. Re-read it if you’ve read it a million times before. Re-read it if you just finished re-reading it (don’t do this it will never end and you will think too much about which jäger is the cutest).

Okay but for reals two reasons:

1) Girl Genius is basically what would happen if One Piece, instead of being nautical- and pirate-themed, pivoted to steampunk science-fantasy schlock horror adventure. It’s got a million characters, all with god-like powers, and the primary tensions in any story tend to revolve around which characters will fall in love with each other. There’s scheming, politics, and weird monsters.

2) It started in 2002. It’s been updating pretty much non-stop, three days a week, fifty-two weeks a year, for nearly twenty-one years. There is so much Girl Genius now that, even if you’ve read it, I guarantee you’ve forgotten a solid third of the story. Yes even if you just read it. Yes you forgot about the two-year timeskip. Yes you forgot about the lady with the flying rats. And that one happened just before the current side-story which has been going on for almost a year! Even if you’ve read it a hundred times before, you’re almost certainly forgetting some awesome thing that you’ll want to re-read again.

I have nothing else to say. Girl Genius is weird, steampunk One Piece and every so often I think “huh, it’s been a while since I read through all of Girl Genius”

And then I lose two weeks worth of evenings to obsessively reading through it!

...Again.
