Also, just want to point this out.
The original controversy surrounding Reiner and Jean, etc... showing gratitude toward Eren, and people interpreting that as an endorsement of Eren's actions by Isayama, I think the anime went a long way to making sure that wouldn't happen again, by making it clear that Eren is only able to confess the true motivation behind his actions to Armin. I don't think Eren confessed his true motivation to anyone else. He only told Armin, because he knew Armin was the only one who would understand, because he knew, subconsciously probably, that Armin wouldn't condemn him for it. And Armin doesn't. He condemns Eren's actions, but he doesn't condemn Eren himself. Instead he shoulders the blame with Eren and condemns himself in his place. It's made clear that he isn't thanking Eren for killing anybody. He thanks Eren for showing him the world outside the walls. For giving him the means to see that world. But he lets Eren know that what he's done is beyond forgiveness, and he shoulders that blame with him out of love and friendship, as a means of comforting his best friend. And he protects Eren's memory by keeping that secret. By keeping the secret of why Eren really did it. It reminds me of how Levi protected Erwin's memory by keeping his secret too, of never revealing to anybody the true reasons behind his actions. He lets everyone else believe he did it for them. But Armin's always understood and accepted monstrosity, even in himself. He loved Eren to the very end, even when he knew he couldn't be saved. That's beautiful, and heartbreaking.

You tried to quieten your breathing, your heart racing and breath coming in short, sharp bursts as you tried to hide from him. Heart pounding so loud you were sure he was going to hear, despite your attempts to outrun and outsmart him.
How were you supposed to run away from someone in their own home? How were you supposed to hide from him when he seemed to know exactly were you were before you were even there? It was helpless. Your trembling legs seemed like they were about to give out at any moment, but you couldn't stop running, you had to start up again, now.
Tumblr media
It had started out simply enough.
You were sitting in one of Lucifer’s armchairs in his office, waiting for him to finish whatever paperwork he was working on this time and chatting quietly, warmed by the lit fireplace of his private study and fighting off sleep, having shared a bottle of Demonus with him earlier in the day.
By now, it was a rainy night and the office was dark because Lucifer insisted on having only candles lit at this time of the night. The dark clouds that hid the moon also didn’t help.
As you made conversation, your gaze didn’t stray from his person, observing his every reaction to your chitter chatter and your eyes darting to his mouth from time to time when he deemed sensible to retort your silly observations.
Because of the way you were watching him so closely, you saw how, at the same time you made some inconsequential comment about how you and Mammon had to run away yet again from some odd merchant because of the demon’s proclivity for getting scammed, you also noticed how Lucifer’s eyes seemed to sparkle to life, a mischievous glint in them.
“A chase, huh?” He hummed noncommittally, his tone giving nothing away and his fingers barely twitching as he stopped his writing.
“Yeah,” you had said, unsure if you had somehow pissed the demon off. “It was fun, really. Got my blood pumping. The adrenaline you get from being chased is no joke.”
This time, you didn’t notice the twinkle in the man’s eyes, nor how his lips formed a brief smirk for a beat. You didn’t notice any of that, which is why you were completely blindsided by Lucifer’s next words.
“Run, then, little sheep.” He got up from his seat, rounding the desk in long strides and pausing briefly when you didn’t move instantaneously.
“W-What?”
“Run.” He pounced suddenly and you didn’t have to be told a third time to understand that you needed to get out of his office now before you were caught.
Racing up the stairs to the door that led to the house’s library, you yanked the door open, barely having time to slam it closed before you were sprinting down the hallways of the House of Lamentation, the sound of his hastening steps hot on your heels, too close for your liking.
At first, you tried to lose him in the many hallways and doors of the big mansion, going up multiple staircases and almost entering some of the brothers rooms in your desperation. But no matter what you did, you could still hear the beating of his wings as if he was only toying with you, always one step ahead.
At some point, when entering the dining room, his silhouette seemed to appear from outside the windows, as if he was looking at you from above, observing his prey in smug amusement. Lucifer was relentless in his pursuit. No matter what room you entered or what way you went, he was there.
It was when his fingers touched your shirt briefly while he followed you that your body experienced a true fight or flight response, having to decide between running away or accepting defeat. At that time, running until your thighs burned and your lungs couldn’t take it anymore seemed like the best option.
Eventually stopping briefly to catch what little breath you could, you strained your ears to listen for any indication of Lucifer’s presence, but couldn’t help closing your eyes for a short while to rest. Your body was giving up on you, tired beyond limits from the amount of running you did in so little time.
You didn’t hear him coming. Suddenly, a strong hand closed around your left arm, tossing your back to the wall you were closest to. Your eyes opened up abruptly, gasping in surprise at the sudden motion and in slight pain at the hit. In front of you, caging you in between himself and the wall, his arms spread, blocking whatever escape plan you could try to muster up, breathing nearly as ragged as yours, disheveled hair and in his demon form, was Lucifer.
“Got you, little sheep.” It was a low croon against your ear, his hands just as quickly adjusting so he was holding your waist and neck, teeth rasping under your jaw.
His tongue was hot as he dragged it across your neck and then to your lips—his kiss bruising and passionate—that has you unwittingly shivering against him. As he devours your lips, teeth nibbling on your lower lip and nicking it hard enough for it to bleed, your eyelids close in a daze and you melt into his rough touch.
It’s when he pulls away from you that you realize that you were not into the hallway anymore, but in Lucifer’s bedroom, his sharp teeth stretching into a prideful grin at your amazed reaction. You notice that they are stained with red and shiver. Stained with your blood.
Once again, Lucifer moved quickly before you could react, shoving the sharp blade of his nose to your cheek and licking the drops of of sweat off your face that had formed after his hunt for you. He inhaled deeply, engraving your scent in his memories: fear, excitement, longing.
“You’re mine, lamb,” he growls, “I won our chase fair and square. Let me have you all to myself. Let me claim you.”
You nod your head quickly, still short on air and disorientated from his kiss. It’s not good enough for the first born.
“Say it. Say you’re mine, give yourself to me.” His grip moves to your throat, tightening faintly and strangling a short whine from you.
“I’m yours, Lucifer!” Looking into his crimson eyes, your own glimmered faintly with tears. “You won. Take me, please.”
Your begging seemed to be what did it for him, as he buried his face in your neck again and his teeth sunk into you, marking your unmarred skin possessively. A choked whimper escaped your lips as you felt sharp pain in your neck. Blood trickled down willingly into his mouth, once again staining his teeth red and letting him savor the metallic taste of you. He drank and sucked at your neck as the bleeding came to a stop.
“Good girl.” He praises you as he distances himself from your throat and rips your shirt off unceremoniously.
It's addicting how pitiful you look right now. He can't get enough.
Taking off his gloves in one motion, one of his hands cups your boobs, thumbs exploring your nipples and tweaking them ’til stiff while the other takes care of your jeans, jerking them off unceremoniously so he can have access to your soaked folds. He hums appreciatively once his fingers find your cunt, already wet for him.
“Already soaking wet for me and we’ve barely done anything, little lamb.” He laughed as he stood upright again, his wings letting wind flicker at your bare arms as you shivered because of the cold air. He sank to his knees suddenly and you were sure that you were the only one to have ever seen the Avatar of Pride like this, his hands spreading your legs more and making space for his head between your thighs.
As his tongue first laps at your clit, then drags across your pussy, you keen lowly, eagerly trying to raise your hips and grinding against his mouth for more friction. As he groans straight into your pussy, he continues to eat you out eagerly, lapping at your juices and raising his palm to press against you as two of his fingers slid inside you with little to no preparation.
“Taste so good, love, do you make a mess of yourself for everyone like this? Or is this just for me?”
“Mmmm…no, just you, Lucifer.” You whined, begging him to keep going. “Please, give me more.”
You could only continue moaning at every action of his, especially when he continued sucking your clit while he stroked inside of you, looking for your g-spot. It was when he finally found that spongy spot he was looking for that your hands came down to his hair, holding onto him tightly and making Lucifer groan as you rutted against his mouth, adding another finger to prepare you for him later.
“Luci, ‘m close, ‘m close!” You whimpered as you neared your orgasm, tightening your hold onto him, begging him to keep going and sobbing in pleasure.
Yet, as you were close to falling off that precipice, you felt Lucifer stop everything. As he broke free of the hold your tights had on him, he grinned up at you in a wild manner, his mouth stained with you. And as he rose to his feet, he took your arms in his hands once again, guiding you gently towards the bed so you both could lay down, careful to not let you fall because of your trembling legs.
The contrast of his earlier vicious actions and his now tender touch made you pliable to him as he placed you down and took care of his own clothing fairly quickly, his pupils still clearly dilated and his palms eager to have you.
Seeing as you were already fully naked, you could watch as every piece of clothing got torn off Lucifer’s body, your eyes memorizing every detail of him as your fingers trailed down to your soaked pussy to touch yourself, desperate for any pleasure after he left you hanging so close to your orgasm.
Mercifully, he didn’t take long at all, leaning over you in the bed, taking your hands in one of his and pushing your legs against your chest, putting his whole body weight onto you in a mating press. His hand caged both of yours for but a moment before he released them, lowering his head to you and kissing you desperately again.
“Such a sweet thing,” he murmured, “so pretty underneath me. Were you so needy to have me that you couldn’t even wait until I finished undressing?”
His words had you humming in soft encouragement as his cock pressed against your slick folds. “You want this, don't you?” he says, his voice ragged with lust. “Say it. Say it and I’ll give it to you."
“I want you, Luci, wan’ you so bad,” your body trembling in anticipation, you try to grind against him, your hips rolling down to feel his tip. “Please give me your cock.”
You’ve barely stopped speaking when his hips pull back and he pushes inside of you in one thrust, your cunt squeezing his cock as he bullies his way into you, his tip touching your cervix and his balls against your folds.
He doesn’t wait for you to adjust to his size, fucking you like a man starved, caught up in the push and pull of your body, in the way your pussy practically begged him to stay inside you, clenching around him so sweetly and squeezing his dick. Your pleading whines were like the finest classical music for him and the way your moans mingled with his groans and the slaps of his hips on your ass made him feel like he was back in Heaven again. You felt like perfection.
You drop your head back, whining at how full you feel with him deep inside you like this, his thrusts relentless and with an intensity you can’t help but want to run away from, taking your breath away once again. However, your head doesn’t stay like that for long before Lucifer is pulling you to him once again, grabbing your hair and staring deeply into your eyes.
"Look at me," he commands, his eyes dark and intense. "I want to see your face. I want to see how much you're enjoying this, little lamb."
He reaches down, one hand on your hip and the other going in between your legs, rubbing your clit in quick, irregular circles. The sensation is overwhelming, pushing you closer to the edge as you wrap your legs around his waist, your fingers digging into his back as he picks up the pace, driving into you with increasing ferocity as his thrusts get faster and deeper, overwhelming you both.
You can feel your orgasm building once again, your body on the verge of exploding with pleasure. Each time he pushes into you, you gasp, your body responding to his touch with a fierce hunger. You're lost in the sensation of him fucking you.
"Come with me, Luci, please," you moan into his ear as you finally get sent over the edge, clenching around him, your body convulsing with pleasure as you release yourself around him. Lucifer follows closely, thrusting as deep as he can and releasing his seed deep inside you, marking you as his, finally.
As you both come down from the rush, your bodies calming down and your breathing going back to normal, Lucifer kisses you softly on the lips, his touch gentle now, before detaching himself from you and climbing out of bed to get you a warm towel from the bathroom, very softly cleaning you both up.
“I hope that wasn’t too rough, love, I fear I may have gotten a bit carried away today.” He whispers in your hair, Lucifer’s arms wrapping around you so that you can both cuddle on the bed. As you assured him that it was all good, he sighed sweetly. “Good night lamb, sweet dreams.” He kissed you once more, before you both drifted off to sleep.

Mainly a post about levihan but I have tried imagining different scenarios wherein Hange did not have to die, where an ending involved them… looking back though, knowing what they're up against, risking any titan shifter really is not an option for the team… they could just not lose any of them to have a big chance of winning against Eren and stopping the rumble. Many have been saying why couldn't it be Jean that battled the wall colossal titans? While it is true he is told to be exemplary at using ODM gear among his class, our Captain Commander Hange would not be able to bear to sacrifice yet another life of their subordinate. I just could not imagine how greatly it would break Hange's heart and will had they deliberately ordered Jean to do so.
This feat, however, was viewed by many as Hange's suicide rather than a sacrifice… both are true whichever way one would put it.
It is a sacrifice for those of their team to not have a heavy burden to carry on their shoulders to decide who will be left behind, because let's face it, then and there all of them knew that in order to delay the wall colossal titans' movement, one of them should and will be left behind. It was a cold, sad, gruesome fact that I believe Hange did not want any of them to live through. BUT, I also saw it as their way out.
They were just tired… the whole truth that unraveled was so disappointing, I was actually surprised they were able to keep such a composure that made them last until Chapter 132. I can only imagine how dumbfounded Hange was when they have learned that titans are once humans, and that the one person they protected and believed to be a new hope would now be the exact opposite. It was heartbreaking… their appointment as the 14th Captain Commander could also not have come at a worse time, and it was actually relatable in a sense where we were somehow forced to have responsibilities at a young age that we did not fully understand. They saw the opportunity. They grabbed it…
But let's delve in with how the conversation went with Levi. Shinzou sasageyo-- spoken only once by the Heichou, but how powerful and cinematic was it to have him speak those words to the only person he has left at such a time. Oh but I knew that Hange knew if Levi stopped them from going, they would have second thoughts. What once an unbreakable commitment to die will be easily thrown out if only Levi said "Stay." consequently telling him to just let them go.
Isayama would not waste 3 panels showing emotions through Levi's eyes before telling Hange to dedicate their heart if the latter was not important to the captain, and what a beautiful moment it was~ I will be forever grateful to Isayama for not cutting short on that moment, for taking the time to draw those 3 panels of Levi's eyes, and Hange's panel showing astonishment, for letting Levi call Hange "Four eyes" for the last time. That moment was excruciatingly heartbreaking, but it was perfect in its own way… because it was not ~cut short~, and to choose to say "See you later, Hange. Please watch over me." instead of goodbye was so symbolic of the love Levi had to let go but did not want to.
Personally, I do not see Levi and Hange as a romantic couple, but more of platonic soulmates, comparable to one's bestfriend whom you can call at 2 in the morning asking if they believe in God, and the one you would give a handmade bracelet and would not be embarrassed to wear it, that type of platonic relationship. It's difficult not to attest to LeviHan ship when Isayama created so many subtle but not meaningless encounters between the two. One great example was the forest scene right after Hange rescued Levi, and let us not forget their complementary eye injuries. Some may say that fans are ridiculously exagerrating the connections, and that we give too much meaning to scenes that happened just because they did, that they are only coincidences… but Isayama, the great artist that he is, would not make coincidences, especially reoccurring ones.

Re-reading the manga made me remember the time I heard a rumour that Marco was supposed to live longer and then die around the time of season 3, but isayama killed him off because he wasn't well-liked. While I'm not sure if it's true or not, I can definetly see it as an interesting concept, especially considering his dream of serving under the king
Tumblr media
It would've been interesting to see how he would have reacted to his dream, that was thought to be honorable, becoming the opposite in people's eyes.
If he was supposed to die in s3, I can imagine it being quite tragic. It would also probably have been one of the first showcases of someone having to confront a crumbling dream of theirs
I've been thinking about this and it's got my head filling up with so many scenarios that may lead to his death (but maybe he'd die in RtS arc instead of uprising).
He would be told by his superiors that his comrades are criminals (possibly unaware of the corruption of the king) but considering how he was willing to talk to mass murderers who were considered enemy #1 at the time, I think he'd also want to talk with the scouts, maybe finding out about the corruption of the king then.
And then there's the idea of viewing this au from the perspective of how the events went in the story that was published, where Jean would probably be apart of the military police too and auagagahau
Idk wether to put all my thoughts and ideas here in this post. Maybe I can turn it into a fic or something (idk if I have the skill though so I may stick to talking about it in posts). Idk I think I've already rambled on long enough. Might turn it into a headcanon post if I don't want to write anything.

i cant stop thinking abt the official aot highschool au.. usually i am So disinterested in irl and school aus but in this case it is a bit fun because isyama himself came up w it and he made it so stereotypically 2000s american highschool movie themed in a somehow not annoying or bad way
( unhinged rambling ensues )
i literally. do not even like those types of movies. but to imagine the very tragic aot cast in such a light hearted setting is fun and interesting
especially because the characters are every so slightly different and ngl i still want isayama to kill himself bc of the ending but he cooked with that AU
Eren in that au is soooo painfully average but has a bit of edge to him. it is Still Small but its There and i so badly want to draw him going through character development and amping up that edge to 999
And. Also. Itll be a ship comic IF i make it but i dont want to bc i don't rlly like drawing ships
it'll be ao cringy though, and not my usual kind of cringe it is actually in the normie twitter/facebook direction which is why im hesitant and kinda ashamed i even want to draw such a normie thing. my elitism has gotten the better of me
I talked b4 abt how eren and historia are kinda not a bad ship!! and in that au they actually had peak interactions and its. like. its fun to imagine the ( not ) average ( not ) lame nobody of the school eren end up with THE queen bee historie in that au. Their dynamic would be a bit cool although SO STEREOTYPICAL. BUT THATS PRECISELY THE POINT
to explain
in that au historia hates being popular and having a dedicated simp circle ( which she does ) but she's also a bit stuck up. just. a bit. but she doesn't enjoy it
and my girl. has been lowkey fixating on eren anyways because he was kinda the lame loser of the school and when he ended up with geniune friends she GOT JEALOUS and
a whole dramatic arc ensues that ends with her crying bc of bullying and chad eren saves her by lying and taking the blame so she blushes n goes kyaaaa eren ?!?!!!? ( written by the man who ruined the story for eren x m*kasa btw. ) and it ENDS THERE
So. That made me think of me continuing the story aa a fanfic ( drawn doujin ) where eren !! eren :3 :) pays a bit more attention to her because it made me sad how he fr moved on while she still has her dedicated fake simp circle
IN CANON. she loses her beloved gf and gets depressed and it is eren who cheers her up and says she doesnt have to act bubbly or cute or a good girl that he likes her better as her true self :) this cheers her up and makes her gain confidence and. then. eren discovers he kinda chomped his dad and gets depressed and it is historia who says fuck his dad useless bastard anyways & it is better to be selfish and move on for one's own sake. and says theyre the enemies of Humanities and despite the many crimes their families did it doesn't matter and theyll be different ( THEN EREN BECOMES 1000X WORSE LMAO LETS GOO 80% GENOCIDE 💯💯 ) this cheers eren up and makes him Stop being suicidal and actually move forward ( based historia i wish she went on with the 100% seflish personality before isayama ruined her )
OK SO MY POINT IN THE HIGHSCHOOL AU. ITD BE FUNNY IF THEY WENT THROUGH A SIMIALR DEVELOPMENT BUT WITHOUT THE STAKES AND DRAMA AND TRAGEDY OF CANON
where
it is a simple development where eren tells her she doesnt have to be the perfect cute bubbly feminine girl of the school and can just be herself. similar to what he told her in canon. hiatoria goes ?!?!?!??! :"O :") and also >///< and a bit 👉👈 and yknow how it is
Eren also starts noticing her a bit more & hanging out with her and becomes her first real actual friend !! yayayya :3 u could say eren also starts liking her after she shows more of her true personality and stops being stuck up also. yknow. lets go of her super popular fame
but thats just my thoughts. i had the story for a fake dating au ( 💀💀💀💀 I AM ACTUALLY REGRESSING ) bc thats kinda similar to what happened in the canon au !! except yknow as fake dating aus go it stops being fake ( UR KIDDING I WOULDVE NEVER NOTICED ) & they get together 👏👏
MY POINT IN ALL OF THIS
I WANT TO DESIGN THEM BOTH IN PUNK CLOTHINF. THANK U AND GN

Why do EreMika stans lie so much? I have read so many paragraphs from them explaining how Eren started this journey because and for her. And that she was the only one that got through to Eren when he lost control in his titan. And I’m thinking to myself that that just isn’t true at all! Eren stated clearly that he got the push and motivation to fight for freedom when he looked in Armin’s eyes. Not only that, when Eren lost control on his titan Mikasa made a fuss trying to snap him out of it and she failed! Armin was the one who was able to get him to come to his senses. It’s like they didn’t even watch the anime or read the manga. Just making up lies that seem more like cope most of the time. It makes me mad reading their BS lies because it always makes me think about the SS Stan’s who blatantly lie to make their ship look good. EreMika may not be as bad as SS but I just don’t understand that ship and how their fans can downplay Armin’s influence in Eren’s life. At the beginning of the manga how many times does it show Mikasa trying to talk to Eren and he just flat out ignores or talks over her in favor of talking to Armin? Or the time when Eren succeeded in balancing in his ODM gear and Armin was able to read his facial expression as relief for passing and Mikasa mistook it as him being happy he won’t be separated from her. I just feel like their relationship is so one sided for most of the manga and anime until the very end where it was just forced as hell.
Yeah actually when Eren lost control he went straight for Mikasa and tried to kill her, which caused her to get her scar. Then she told Armin that since she couldn't get through to Eren, there was no point for Armin to try. But he did manage to wake him up. And Mikasa misread Eren's expression two times in the beginning and blushed... I don't know why Isayama wrote that.
That's what shippers do, twist the content to fit their ship... I see this everywhere, in Naruto fandom, in Snk fandom, in BNHA fandom, In Jjk fandom... and so on.

i have a theory that honestly isn’t very likely to be true but it’s just a thought i had.
so we all know how isayama said that he had a different idea for the ending but because of popular demand he had to alter it a bit. well…
what if his initial idea was to have eren not have an endgame, meaning he’d have no romantic love interests or at least not canonically end up with anyone. and i when i say this i mean he wasn’t supposed to end up with mikasa nor armin.
to ymir mikasa was the “key” to freeing her and she’d been waiting on her for 2000 years. now if mikasa was the purpose this entire time then i’d like to believe that everything that happened was molded to fit her experience. if ymir used mikasa to free her by seeing what option she’d choose between supporting or letting go of her love it’d make sense eren was molded in that way.
eren has essentially been a pawn of ymir since he was born and when he learned this truth he realized that everything that happened and the outcomes were dependent on mikasa’s choice not necessarily his own actions. this makes me wonder if the events that brought eren and mikasa together were also controlled by ymir or at least “fated” by ymir.
ymir needed mikasa to love and become attached to someone just as much as she was to king fritz. maybe mikasa’s parents being murdered and her almost being sold off was to draw eren in to save and protect her. or her parents being killed was something already bound to happen and ymir made sure eren was present and had a drive to protect her. this is what ultimately started their bond and mikasa’s connection to eren.
over time it’s seen that eren hardly ever reciprocates the same way mikasa does romantically and if he does it’s very subtle and typically catered to what mikasa herself wants. like them running off together for 4 years to the cabin in the paths, eren says that that’s something mikasa wanted not necessarily himself. i believe that the romantic acts eren does for mikasa could’ve also been swayed by ymir to have mikasa grow more attached to eren so that in the end her decision to kill him was more impactful.
eren is known for being extremely complicated and i think one of the main reasons for this is because his mind is constantly conflicted between what ymir wants him to do and what he actually wants to do. his motivation for freedom, his dream of the outside world, and his compassion for those close to him are all things that are the real eren while gaining the power of the titans, going thru with the rumbling, and pursuing mikasa are all things he’s been told he wants to do out of his control.
i wholeheartedly believe and know that eren cares deeply about mikasa the same way he cares about armin; however, i don’t believe that he likes her romantically. eren has said that he has a feeling that he wants to protect mikasa and i think that’s the true eren speaking because he’s the same way with armin. but outside of this platonic connection everything else between them feels very forced and i think that’s because it is: it’s forced by ymir.
i think isayama wanted to end the series with eren not loving anyone beyond the platonic bond he shared with mikasa, armin, and his other friends. not to say that eren isn’t capable of love, but i don’t think that was his main priority for eren, eren was meant to be a very morally gray person that is a human doing inhumane acts for the sake of a very humane trait, compassion. i feel like adding in a romance, yes, makes eren come off as more humane, but at the same time the love he was given felt very out of character for him. hence why i believe the ending he wanted was going to showcase that this love actually is out of character for him because it’s not truly his own.
for an in-character eren, i can see him apologizing to mikasa that he could never be enough for her or give her what she deserves. that he wanted her to forget him because all he’s done is mess with her feelings because the person pursuing her wasn’t really him. that he loves her a lot but not in the way she wants him to. that he’s been fighting his own mind and in the end couldn’t win. that he wanted to tell armin that he wishes he could’ve done better for them, that he could’ve saved armin from the tragedy of the outside world and could’ve saved mikasa from loving him.
and mikasa knows that eren never loved her the same but regardless she loved him enough to end both the world’s suffering and his own. she understood that the eren she’s seen the past years wasn’t the eren she grew up with and she’s happy that he was finally able to rest. this closure allows her to live her life as her own, to live the life that she deserves with someone who will openly love her and living her life knowing she’s more than just someone that was devoted to eren and subjected to ymir’s ideals. that eren will always be held close to her heart as someone very close to her.
this is really what saves ymir is this parallel of loving someone that protected you and saved you and was seen in ur eyes as a savior who in the end became inhumane and didn’t love you the way you loved them, and being able to let that person go and not feel the need to be attached to them. obviously the difference is that eren was always more humane than king fritz which is what adds more sentiment to the story but the parallel still applies. this is why ymir fabricated this eren for mikasa.

Analyzing Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kijon) with The Maze Runner
So you know me, I get these weird analysises in my head when I have nothing left to do. But this one came up when I was talking to a friend about my favourite animes. If you're not aware, I love Attack on Titan. As I'm sure many do. But to me, it was one of the anime's that got me into watching anime. And while thinking about James Dashner's iconic book series, I began to notice some interesting things about the two series, and how similar they are. And personally, in a way, you can use the Maze Runner to further understand the lore, story and character structure that Hajime Isayama put into his manga.
now if you're not familiar with either of these properties (wtf are you doing reading this) I completely recommend you read and watch both series. the stories are told wonderfully and the animation/acting is very well done. now for a small sypnosis of both series:
maze runner: thomas wakes up in a glade surrounded by walls with no recolection of his life before. he learns the rules of the glade and discovers what lies outside the walls is a gigantic maze that has not yet been solved. Thomas becomes a Runner, mapping and memorizing the patterns of the maze to help the Gladers escape and discover freedom. however, within the Maze are giant, man eating monsters called "grievers" who come out at night and kill whomever may be inside.
attack on titan: eren yeager lives in a society in which humanity has been left to live behind large walls to avoid devesation from the man-eating titans--giant humanoid monsters who lurk outside. however, when his home is desolated after a titan infiltrates the walls, he is deteremined to eradicate the titans and bring justice to those who have suffered under the rule of the titans.
Tumblr media
now these stories do have some similarities, such as the protagonist living behind walls, with monsters lurking on the other side, and wanting to explore those walls (Thomas becomes a Runner, Eren becomes part of the Survey Corps.) the protagonist is vengeful, and will do anything to protect those whom they love. it's really the characters and their parallels I want to discuss in this post. most importantly of all: Mikasa Ackerman, Eren Yeager, Thomas, and Theresa.
now one of the interesting things about these series is who we (the reader/viewer) are led to believe is the protagonist, might not actually be who the story is about.
there is a popular post on reddit, in which a redditor said that "attack on titan is a story about Mikasa Ackerman, in Eren Yeager's point of view, narrated by Armin Arlert" which is very much true. if you watch/read the series, while the story is in Eren perpective, his story isn't necessarily the one we are suppposed to follow. much of the story follows his relationship with mikasa, and armin, and the impact he leaves on their lives (especially once the rumbling begins near the end). while eren's story is interesting to watch unfold, it's his impact on Mikasa, most of all, that fans and readers tend to analyse and focus on. such as the scene in which Mikasa thanks eren for giving him her scarf, and he defends her from Dina Fritz's titan, which leads him to finally activate the Founding Titan. basically what I'm trying to convey is that without Mikasa in Eren's life, there might not be an actual story to build. the whole reason Eren grows distant with his comrads and friends by the time they are at war with Marley is solely because he doesn't want them to get hurt.
Tumblr media
this is the same logic used in the maze runner. while the main trilogy of the books (and much of the movies) are told through Thomas's perspective, he doesn't appear in every book for much of it. (for reference, by book, I mean the five main books of the Maze Runner trilogy: The Kill Order, The Fever Code, The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, and The Death Cure). while thomas does appear in all five books, it's not all in his perspective. he only appears briefly in the Kill Order (one of those times he's unconscious). but you know who has an appearance all throughout the five books, and not just brief appearance in one? Theresa. remember in the Kill Order the little girl DeeDee? well that was Theresa, as later revealed in the book when speaking to Thomas for the first time. Theresa has had solid appearances in every book. she was all throughout in the Kill Order, she appeared in the Fever Code multiple times, and was a main character, and was there in the entire original trilogy, until dying at the end, saving thomas.
now here's where things are a little interesting. so the maze runner and attack on titan are different when it comes their story's main structure and events and such, but the general aspects of their stories and characters are frankly quite similar. both "protagonists" have an inciting death that inspires them to fight and eradicate the enemy. For Eren is was his mother, for Thomas it was Chuck. and they both have a main enemy they want to destroy, with the female lead believing that they shouldn't, as the real answer is more complicated than they perceive. Eren, it's the world and Marley. Thomas it's WICKED. and both female leads believe that it is not the answer. Theresa believes that WICKED can be good, while Mikasa doesn't believe in the genocide that Eren is committing.
Tumblr media
and with another interesting detail, we can further explore these stories and charcters. so in the Maze Runner, Theresa dies saving Thomas at the end of the Death Cure. While in Attack on Titan, Mikasa "saves" Eren from the further pain that was inflicted on him by killing him, and saves the world from his Rumbling. both characters believe in the greater good, but the contrary is that Mikasa saved the world from Eren, while Theresa saves Thomas because he can save the world. which is an interesting irony when you think about it. but another thing is that whoever lives (in this case Mikasa and Thomas) they go on to live long, peaceful lives, and continue to remember the one who gave them the chance to live.
Tumblr media
to finish off, heres a funny little tibit I like to share. So Hajime Isayama began publishing the first chapters/volumes of Attack on Titan were released in September 2009. and guess when the first book of the Maze Runner Series was published? October 2009. lierally 1 month apart. whether this is just some coincidence, or a very common story telling device, I personally think this is an interesting way to analyze two very well crafted stories and put some perspective into it.

The trios and their similarities: Erwin and Armin - Aot Talk
If you just stumble on this post know that I'm just mostly writing for myself as I have lots of thoughts regarding aot. Whether you like my opinions or not you're free to interact, but do it respectfully (why did that sound just like Eren)
The other parts of "The Trios and their similarities" series: (upcoming)
Here I present my new episode of AoT talk. Today I'm gonna ramble about how two trios seem to reflect each other, being today's protagonists Erwin and Armin. This can be coincidences (although that's not a very Isayama's thing) or I'm on to something here. Either way this is not an deep analysis just random things that I noticed. By the way all this thought started here.
Both have a similar appearance: I can still remember when my sister was watching season 4 and asked me honestly if Armin had cut his hair to resemble Erwin. They are simply and obviously very similar in appearance. I swear if I didn't know I would think that they were related.
Tumblr media
Both are great strategists: So none of them is an 11 in Intelligence but they are both 10 in strategist. Throughout the story, both show various times how they could predict, understand and come up with a plan even when the situation seems to be hopeless.
Tumblr media
Both used their ability for speech and manipulation to have their way instead of force: This is mainly seen when Armin tries to capture Annie by using their friendship and Erwins's season three speech when confronting the Beast or even Erwin's whole plan in No Regrets manga.
Both sacrifice themselves on the same battle, each on one side of the wall: While Erwin was charging towards the Beast with all the rookies in a suicidal gamble, Armin was sacrificing himself so the colossal Titan could be defeated.
Tumblr media
Both believed and were enthusiastic about something beyond the walls during childhood, being their dreams to confirm it: While Erwin was curious on whether were there humans outside the walls and later comfirm is dad's theory, Armin was curious about what other things could be found outside the wall, just like lava and the sea due to his grandpa's book (or dad's as it is only mentioned that his grandpa hid it).
Tumblr media
Both had parents who were interested in what was outside the wall : Erwin's dad being a teacher end up noticing flaws in the history of how they had started to live inside the walls making him interest in the outside world. Despite not having a lot of information regarding Armin's parents, we know they care about the outside world enough to try to leave.
Tumblr media
Both of their parents died by the hand of Djel Sannes from the First Interior Squad of the Military Police due to being to curious about the world outside the walls: While Djel is being torture by Hange and Levi he confesses killing at least four people. While Erwin's dad is directly shown to be one of them, the couple being Armin's parents isn't as obvious. However, due to Armin mentioning that they were going to go outside the walls and the other people mentioned by Djel were parents of other characters, I believe that is pretty solid that they were Armin's parents.
Tumblr media
Both had that dream as their main motivation to enter the Survey Corps and fight: Although being a slave to a dream being a recurrent thing, both of them joined because they desire to finally confirm if what they were once told about the world outside the walls was true. However one can say that Erwin's situation is a bit more complex but that's for another post.
Tumblr media
Despite all this it is still noticeable that they are also very different characters. But I also think that lots of their differences are due to different levels of maturity, as they are in very different ages and have different levels of experience. However, the more I thought I couldn't stop how they were similar in these little details.

Alright... okay... I just... need a moment.
Fuck, I'm emotional. I'm trying to gather my thoughts, but it's difficult. So I'm going to try my best.
First, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this anime, of this story, of this masterful, masterful piece of art. The animators, the composers, the writers, the voice actors, the directors, the producers, just, everyone. And most especially, to Hajim Isayama, who, without doubt, has created one of the greatest stories ever told.
And with that said, I'm just going to say this. "Attack on Titan" is, in my opinion, the greatest show ever made. I mean that, sincerely, and with all my heart. It's the greatest show, and one of the greatest stories, of all time. It's truly a masterpiece. A pillar of great art. I don't think that's hyperbole. I think that's absolutely true.
I don't even know where to start.
I'm just blown away. Completely blown away.
Ahh, well, I guess I'll just start by talking about some of the changes that were made, and what wasn't, and how much I appreciate both. I knew they would stick with the overall story and not change the ending, and I'm so glad they didn't, because it was always the right ending. I don't care what anyone says, what anyone's criticisms are. This was always, always, always the right ending.
The obviously biggest change was the conversation between Armin and Eren near the end, and I think, given the controversy caused by this particular moment in the manga, I'm not surprised, and I think they did an excellent job of clarifying what Armin actually meant, and most importantly, that he wasn't ever condoning Eren's actions. That they had Armin instead take on and shoulder the responsibility of Eren's actions, in a show of love and friendship to Eren, was incredibly moving and gut-wrenching at the same time. That Armin blamed himself for what Eren did as much as Eren himself, and said that they would be together again someday, in hell, was actually incredibly shocking to me. But then, it makes perfect sense for Armin's character. Armin, who from the very beginning understood and accepted the bleak reality of war, of having to abandon one's humanity in order to accomplish victory. Armin's never shied away from who he really is, or what he's capable of, or tried to console himself with an idealized self-image. It doesn't surprise me that he blames himself for Eren's actions, or takes on as much responsibility for them as he places on Eren. Though one could argue all day against Armin's self-condemnation, I think it makes perfect sense for his character. I also adore how they really clarified and left no room for doubt as to the motivation behind Eren's actions. He just flat out admits at the end that it was because he wanted to "see this sight", meaning a world completely devoid of humanity, of life. He admits to Armin that he's a "slave to freedom", that this outcome came about because of who he is and for no other reason. Not to make the alliance into heroes, not to save Paradis. It was because Eren couldn't accept a concept of freedom beyond what he'd seen in Armin's book. Because, as he says of himself, he was an idiot who came into power. 80% of the world's population died because of that. But as Historia also admits in the end, it's also a result of ALL their choices. I always have maintained that AoT is a cautionary tale of what happens when we blame and persecute and hold accountable people for the sins of the past. Eren, an idiot, only came into that power to begin with because of Marley's persecution of the Eldian's, continuing to punish the Eldian people for the crimes of their ancestors. Indeed, Historia was correct. It was a culmination of all of their choices. Violence begetting more violence, and on and on the cycle continues.
The Jeagerist's created an army out of fear of reprisals from what remains of the outside world, but in doing so, they sealed their own fate. In becoming so hostile to begin with, they ensured those reprisals. That's the great irony. They formed an army to protect themselves, they became a hostile nation, an isolationist nation, and in the end, it lead directly to them being destroyed. As Armin tells Eren, his violence and desire to see a world wiped clean of humanity leaves them with nothing but the lesson of kill or be killed. It leaves nothing but a legacy of continued violence. That's the whole point of this story, of course. That violence only ever leads to more violence. Even when we don't have a choice, even when we're backed into a corner and there's no way out but to fight, even when it's the right and only choice. That's the tragedy of violence. That's the tragedy of the world. That's the tragedy of humanity. It's not that violence is always wrong. Violence isn't always wrong, but it's always tragic, and it always only leads to tragedy. Armin's condemnation of Eren and his actions here, telling him that he's robbed the world of even the small hope of one day understanding one another, that's the condemnation of Eren's violence, the condemnation of the cycle of violence. He pushed Paradis toward armament through his actions, but so did the rest of the world. People will always fight one another. There will always be war as long as there are people. The only way there won't be war is if there are no people, as Armin says, and that's the biggest joke of all. There's no such thing as lasting peace. Paradis meets its demise in the very end because it falls to the same trap, the same cycle of violence, the same cycle of continued hate that drives all war and that, saddest of all, is intrinsic to the human condition. Violence is intrinsic to the human condition, and to nature itself. In the end, Paradis brings about it's own demise, just as, in the end, Marley and all those who persecuted the Eldian's, brought about theirs. This is an anti-war story. That's what it's always been. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. But it's also a story about the tragedy of humanity and the inescapability of our nature as a species.
So, okay, now, because I'm primarily a blog which talks about Levi, and because Levi is probably, far and away, my favorite character of all time, I have to talk about him.
What can I say?
Levi was the hero of this final episode. Of this final bow of what, again I repeat, is the greatest show I've ever seen, and one of the greatest stories ever told.
Levi is a hero.
First, if anyone, if I see anyone ever, ever, ever question Levi's commitment to humanity and to saving it ever again, after watching this episode, I will come down on them like a fucking bomb myself.
Levi saved humanity.
They all did, of course. They all contributed.
But Levi... Levi was the leader that saved humanity. He became the leader in that moment that humanity needed. For all the talk and accusations thrown Levi's way, of robbing humanity of it's greatest chance at survival in Erwin, by letting Erwin die, it was in a time of humanities greatest need that Levi stepped up and took the reigns and didn't let humanity fall.
Levi wasn't the strongest in this battle. He wasn't humanities strongest soldier anymore. He wasn't the most affective in battle, or able to single-handedly turn the tide of the battle, like he might once have been able to. But he didn't let anyone give up. He didn't let anyone give in. He didn't let anyone lose hope.
I've been saying this since the manga ended, but seeing it brought to life like this only drives it home all the more.
Levi rallied and organized and held together his soldiers when they were all ready to give up and give in. When his own body was ready to give in and give up, Levi's heart and will wouldn't. It was Levi who enabled Mikasa to deliver the final, killing blow to Eren by not giving in to despair or fear or grief when it became clear that everyone on the ground was going to turn into a pure titan. It was Levi who, in the end, fulfilled the dream of his fallen comrades of a world without titans, by keeping it together and giving out orders, by abandoning his own driving need to save lives, like he's always done, since the beginning, in order save more, in order to save the lives of people who had done nothing, in fact, but condemn and persecute him his whole life.
Levi is a hero. He's a pure hero. He has the purest heart of anyone. He's the best of them all.
And I think the change they made to Levi's final scene just drives that truth home all the more.
I'm not gonna' lie, I nearly burst into tears seeing what they did in Levi's last scene. To have him sitting there in his wheelchair, his body not even a fraction of what it had once been, but still finding a way to help people, to help, especially, children, again, it drives home without doubt what Levi is. A hero. To see him handing out candy to children, to see the happiness he finds in that simple act... Jesus Christ, I really don't even know what to say about this. It was maybe the most beautiful moment in the entire series. Shit, I'm gonna start crying just talking about it. To see him smile, again, at last, to see him truly at peace. He found a way to be a hero, even with his strength gone. He found a way to be a hero without having to be a weapon, because Levi's heroism was never in his strength. It was never because he was physically strong, or a weapon. It was never because being a hero was easy for him. It was because of his heart. Because his heart is the heart of a hero. His heart is the heart of someone who has only ever wanted to help and protect others. That he still wants to and does help people, despite already having given everything...
Yeah, don't nobody ever, EVER say to me again that Levi doesn't care about humanity. He helps even when he doesn't have to. Even when he deserves to be selfish.
He cares more than anyone.
Man, that's all I have for now. I'm pretty speechless about this episode. I'm just beyond words.
Greatest show ever. Not anime. Just any show, ever. One of the greatest pieces of cinema ever made. One of the greatest stories ever told, with some of the greatest characters to ever exist.
Thank you Hajime Isayama, for giving this gift to the world.

BINGOOOOO🔥
i could write a whole dissertation on a thorough analysis on levi’s character tbh
i mean :( this man who quite literally came from nothing, fighting to live and losing everything he loves along the way, no matter what he does to protect them. because of his strength he feels SO much responsibility that even things out of his control are in the end his fault, things he needs to avenge.
like kenny leaving him?? levi thought it was bc he didn’t live up to his potential enough, he he became determined to be the strongest.
izzy and farlan?? he blamed his pride until erwin convinced him it was the titans. it became his mission in life to kill them all and make erwin’s dream realized.
his original squad?? levi was Very Clear when he told annie how he planned to torture her and make her regret what she did. this conflict was retconned in s4p2 convince me otherwise
he thinks the way eren turned out was his fault (him being levi’s responsibility from the start). his 30 comrades in the forest?? levi thinks he should have sussed out the poisoned wine. not to mention those times he let zeke get away.
baby feels he has NO worth other than his ability to fight. he is willing to become the worst person on earth if erwin’s dream can come true, and he even let erwin rest bc of the devil he was becoming even tho he believed it would doom humanity.
levi is simply. the most selfless character and also the most beautiful and brave and complex and badass. idek what else to say. ultimate blorbo status.
it’s SO much more than his looks dkvnsn canonically he looks so tired all the time and he’s so small that isayama cuts him off in most panels dkfnehfjr. ppl love to imagine levi tall but that’s just weird to me lmao. it doesn’t fit him at all. i think a large part of his character represents humanity’s strength itself as small but mighty hehe
i didn’t even Notice levi the first time i watched aot a million years ago?? but i think the type of person i am, i’m more attached to emotionally unavailable ppl who are v strong and v damaged. that’s mommy and daddy issues for u.
is levi my highest kin ever??? yes. abandonment issues? check. super awkward and cannot read social cues to save my life? also yes. emotionally constipated. loyal to a fault. always moving forward despite living thru a hell that would ruin other ppl?? this also. trauma. acts like the embodiment of a brick wall which behind waits the most sensitive person you’ve ever met?????? u bet.
i may or may not have latched onto aot in general when life was Awful so now aot is somehow my comfort show and him as my comfort character😭 i don’t think i can escape tbh
ONTO OTHER THINGS… the only reason majority of conflicts in aot existed (s2 as a whole, the rumbling fights, the yeagerists uprising in s4) was bc levi was somehow out of commission, injured, or had a plot excuse to not be there. such a waste imo.
absolutely got done dirty by fans who saw the 1 (one) scene from s1 when levi beat up eren TO PROVE THAT HE COULD HANDLE HIM as their sole proof that levi is a sadistic unfeeling asshole. those ppl watched the anime with their ass.
and please do not get me started on shipping levi with literal children and even incestually with his own cousin. gross.
lastly, irl i would be fuxking petrified to be around a stoic awkward person like him at first,,, but if shown 1 sign of who levi actually is i will fall immediately in love. i don’t make the rules.
my favorite character ever thank u for asking
