watched s11ep1
i will provide you with a quick review before i disappear back into the ether of twd avoidance
lots of spoilers under the cut. also i wrote way too much and i worked all night and haven’t slept so i didn’t bother to reread literally any of it, so it might be completely nonsensical, tho if you don’t expect that from me by this point idk whose blog you’ve been reading
enjoy:
hokay, first off, i’ll start by saying that i enjoyed it more than i expected to. i’ve been avoiding any sort of discussion about stuff, but my google algorithm is so fucked at this point that i still get recommended articles and stuff every now and then, so i was already pretty aware of what i was walking into, and was expecting it to be eh, but actually i prob enjoyed it more than i enjoyed the finale
(don’t get too excited tho, the finale was rly boring lmfao)
anyway
episode starts off with a tense scouting mission
it takes .005 seconds into the episode for caryl to exchange a look of longing, establishing that they are still having weird conflict and are both too fucking stubborn to do anything about it even tho they hate it desperately
i imagine that will continue for a while
rosita, kelly, carol, maggie, what’s her face with the bad hair, and lydia (i think that’s everyone?) lower down to some army bunker or something, where a bunch of walkers are taking a snooze, and the girls are very respectful of walker naptime, and do their best not to wake them up
obviously they eventually wake up, but i’ll get to that in a sec
as they’re tiptoeing through the walker tulips, there’s this split second where carol spots a machine gun, and looks at maggie with a face like, “can i plzzzz, i am mad horny for that machine gun,” but maggie tells her no. (i 110% expected her to defy orders and accidentally wake up all the walkers, but she actually behaved herself for once. well. mostly)
never fear, tho, after the girl gang collects a bunch of MREs they go back to wait for the dudes waiting up top to pull them up, and bc men ruin everything, one of the ropes break, and daryl catches it before it falls, but then a slow motion drop of blood falls on a walker’s face, and just like that, walker naptime is over, and carol uses her bow and arrow for two seconds before she is like “fuck this” and whips out the machine gun
yes, she is super hot using it
yes, daryl watches her do it
anyway, all the other girls get rescued, and carol is about to be pulled up, but bc she is a #girlboss, she first makes a beeline for one more crate full of MREs. daryl covers her while she gets the loot, and when she gets back up top they have another charged moment as carol hands him back his knife
just fuck already, jfc
titles!
cut to alexandria where everything is still not smilestimes
BUT, we do get to see uncle daryl run and hug rj and judith (and dog), and FUCKING HERSHEL JR, LIGHT OF MY LIFE is also there
istg, they could not have casted a better child, i a d o r e him
oh, and some friends of maggie’s show up too, idk
cut to a staff meeting where everyone is like, whomp whomp, we’re all gonna starve to death unless we figure out something quick
cue maggie going, “oh, i know where food is, but it requires me to tell you my tragic backstory, in case anyone didn’t watch my bottle episode”
she tells her dramatic backstory about all her friends getting slaughtered by the reapers for no apparent reason, and then she’s like “anyway, let’s go back there!”
no one thinks it’s a great idea, but a group of people decide to go anyway, including daryl and gabriel. rosita is super pissed that gabriel is going, and carol doesn’t go, probably partly bc it’s a shitty fucking idea, and also bc they have to keep caryl apart bc otherwise they’ll fix their problems ahead of schedule and they won’t be able to drag out the needless angst
daryl looks kind of annoyed that carol doesn’t volunteer to go
bitch, i thought you wanted her to stop putting herself in the line of fire! make up your damn mind!
moving on
cut to a thunderstorm, where, if you look closely, you’ll notice daryl is wearing the STUPIDEST hat i’ve ever seen. just get an umbrella, jfc
for some reason negan is with them, bc ig he knows his way around washington dc, and no one in six years has bothered to figure out how to get around the city and/or get a map, and he is like “hey guys, maybe we shouldn’t try to walk in this fucking hurricane,” and everyone is like “FUCK YOU NEGAN, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF US!!!”
this will be a common occurrence
but eventually daryl is even like “actually, it’s rly unpleasant out here, and my hat is mad stupid, can we go inside plz?”
so they go inside an old metro station, which is actually a rly cool cinematic choice. i rly like the idea, and they executed it rly well
speaking of executions
there are some fucking RULL CREEPY walkers. idk why they bothered me so badly, but they were what they at first assumed were corpses wrapped up in tarps, but turns out none of them had been properly put down, so they go through killing these rotted bodies that had supposedly been there since The Fall, and it’s very gross and cool
this entire time, btw, negan is like “hey, i know i’m a shitty person, but i have some rational arguments about why we shouldn’t be doing this right now,” and everyone is like, “FUCK YOU NEGAN, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF US!!!” and he’s just like “god fucking damnit”
(i forgot to mention that at one point, when they’re headed into the metro station, negan is trying to warn ppl of the potential danger, and everyone is ignoring him, and he tries to talk to daryl, and daryl is like “fuck you, you think we’re BUDDIES?” and negan is like “oh, ok, so you’re gonna be like that too? fanfreakingtastic” and it’s very funny)
anyway. a fat monster zombie escapes its tarp at one point, and tries to eat some npc, and negan saves him, again is like “hey, anyone else realize that this is a FUCKING BAD PLAN?”, and everyone is like “we don’t care, you’re still shitty and we’re not listening to you, and you don’t actually care about random npc i would literally not be able to pick out in a lineup bc his face is so generic, you’re not the boss of us!!!”
it’s at this point that negan finally is like, “why am i even here? bc i know how to get around washington dc? do none of you have a map?” and i was like, “right?! that’s what i said!”
it’s then revealed that maggie only brought negan along to murder him under the guise of “oops, he got hurt in the line of duty, it wasn’t my fault,” and daryl has this look on his face that says, “i seriously need to stop hanging out with lethal women bent on revenge bc it’s gonna give me high blood pressure,” and maggie has a badass moment where she points a gun she has for some reason at negan and is like “i have like, one shred of human compassion left inside of me, and if you keep pushing me i will fucking kill you without a second thought, so shut the hell up”
(in her defense, negan had just dropped glenn’s name to purposely antagonize her, which was rude as hell)
(for the record, i’m completely on maggie’s side here, but negan still is right that trapping themselves in a metro station is a bad call)
anyway, moving away from that briefly
i think this jump cut happens sooner, i don’t actually remember, but whatever who cares, point is, we get to the part of the show that actually matters, and that’s anything involving my love, juanita “princess” sanchez
and also eugene, yumiko, and ezekiel
they are being asked increasingly invasive questions by commonwealth ppl, some of which i wish they actually would of answered (what do they use to wipe their asses with?? surely toilet paper has long since become extinct)
zeke, who is so much more tolerable as a character now that he’s not larping as a king, has this incredibly weird and sort of sexually charged moment with a dude in an orange stormtrooper costume, where he’s like, “i bet you were an asshole cop back before The Fall, you stupid fascist, #fuckthepolice, mb literally? idk, this moment has a lot of pent up aggression that could easily translate to hate sex, it might just be the intense eye contact, but w/e, let’s just move along,” and then he has a coughing fit to remind the audience that he’s currently dying of cancer, and orange stormtrooper is like “lolz, loser, drink some water you dumb piece of shit”
cut to the wholesome foursome sitting at a picnic table in a guarded courtyard eating gruel, and yumkio, who finally has a personality, and princess are like “hey, this place fucking sucks, can we leave?” and zeke is like, “yeah, i met this orange stormtrooper who i think might be dtf and/or murder, so we should probably bounce”
but eugene is like, “but i want some hot stephanie ass, and also some bullshit excuse about how mb commonewealth will save alexandria” which, they left before things went super downhill, right? idr. it was after hilltop fell, but they don’t know alexandria got fucked either, if i recall? w/e, not important
two seconds after he says this, they talk to some people who are like “we’ve been here for four months, or maybe it’s been nine, i don’t actually remember, i’ve stopped processing the passage of time,” and the wholesome foursome takes this as a bad sign, tho that’s just the life i’ve lived as a night worker during a pandemic, so i was like #mood
but then they watch some guy get dragged away screaming to get “reprocessed” and eugene is like “ok, nvm, let’s bounce”
(my theory on what “reprocessing” is, is that they’re stuck in a room and have to watch hours and hours of customer service training videos on vhs from the 90s)
i definitely got my jump cut scenes mixed up bc i think the negan accusing maggie of a murder plot thing happened in between this scene and then the next commonwealth scene, but w/e, i’ll just finish what happens in the commonwealth arch
the wholesome foursome are trying to hatch a plan to escape, except princess, my love, is distracted watching some stormtroopers flirt, and the other three are like “wtf, dude, how can you even tell any of them apart?” and princess then tells them every stormtroopers backstory bc she is brilliant and pays rly close attention to shit, and the other three are like, “this is useful information, thank you for being an insane person”
their plan involves yumiko and eugene dressing up as stormtroopers and leading princess and zeke out of the place, which works fine actually, except on their way out they come across the Depressing Wall of Probably Mostly Dead Missing Loved Ones
they’re about to leave, when princess is like, “wait, yumiko, you’re on here, that’s weird huh?”
sure enough, yumiko  is on the wall, with a note from ig her sister
the scene ends with yumiko going, “guys...i can’t leave...i have tragic backstory to unveil”
tragic backstory to be continued ig
back in murder metro town, npc and some other npc have stolen all the supplies, there’s a train blocking the track, and a horde of walkers are coming towards them, so things are not going fantastic
they horde is too big to take down, so they start to climb on top of the train car to get away
but dog runs away!
and daryl, being every pet owner ever, is like “gotta go get my dog, guys, try not to get killed while i’m gone, c u soon!” and he ducks under the train and disappears
#priorities
the episode ends with maggie climbing up the train car but getting grabbed by a walker and dangling off the edge, and negan is there and they have a lion king moment where maggie is like, “scar! help me!” and negan is like “long live the king, bitch” and walks away into the shadows, leaving maggie to a potential death
which, while i know isn’t actually going to happen, would be a really fucking funny move on the writers’ part
like, “look, lauren’s back! and now she’s dead, bet you didn’t expect that!”
anyway
my assumption is negan will actually end up helping her up or something, continuing his ambiguous morality bullshit that actually isn’t ambiguous bc he BEAT GLENN TO DEATH WITH A FUCKING BAT WRAPPED IN BARBED WIRE IN FRONT OF HIS PREGNANT WIFE
the maggie/negan arch is kind of dumb, but whatevs, i’ll tolerate it, as long as my boy glenn gets justice in the end
anyway, cue credits!
final assessment: good episode. i’m much more interested in commonwealth than the reapers, tho i am hoping that daryl’s personality-less ex turns out to be a monster killing machine with no conscience, that’ll be fun. princess is a gift from god. hershel jr needs his own tv show. needs more carol (and caryl)
the end! going back into my walking dead free chamber! see you next episode!

 - mistletoe with middle blockers -
 𝕥𝕤𝕦𝕜𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕞𝕒 , 𝕜𝕦𝕣𝕠𝕠 , 𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕠𝕦 ,
 — slight nsfw, fluff, not proofread
word count : i’m so lazy to copy and paste so uh..alot u^u
a/n : it was so difficult having little to no connection at home, but all’s good now ! anyways this was pretty last minute but nonetheless, i hope you guys enjoy this !! decided to create this after impulsively buying the christmas dlc for mystic messenger aksksk. also i tried to write for more than one person so yeah, do give me any feedback so i could improve:) ngl writing kuroos’ is so heartwarming, his one is the best out all three uwu (that’s why is a little longer lolol)  anyways enjoy and merry christmas !!
𝕥𝕤𝕦𝕜𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕞𝕒 𝕜𝕖𝕚
he’s not really into christmas because of the blinding lights that littered everywhere, so he often stays home
his house is no where near festive so you’d hang some decorations every single day you come over.
on christmas itself, you saved the mistletoe last to kind of give off a finishing touch
tsukki would just mock you when you constantly jump to hang the mistletoe by the door, in the end he helped you and sighed because he know what’s coming.
“yaay !!” you threw your hands up in the air, eyeing on the last deco that was put up. tsukki leaned by the door, hands crossed over as he stared blankly on the floor. inching a little closer, you looked at him with your gleaming eyes, hinting him.
“i’m not kissing you.” he said coldly, walking away from the door to the kitchen. you pout as you trail along behind him, begging for even just a peck on the cheek.
“tsukki please ~ it’s christmas !!” your arms cling onto his as you rubbed your head onto it. tsukki wasn’t reacting much but inside, he’s dying by how adorable you were to desperately beg for a kiss. he wouldn’t mind kissing you, but he know very well that the minute his lips touch yours, there’s no way it will end then and there. he sighed as he took a sip of water, slowly getting annoyed by your constant whine and you pulling his sweater.
“stop pulling my shirt.” you eventually let loose before stomping into the room and closing the door shut, the mistletoe dropping to the ground. tsukki slowly made his way back and noticed the fallen mistletoe. picking it up, he opened the door slowly before hanging it back. you sat on the bed, face smooshed into the pillow as you laid completely still. he sighed, before walking up to you, grabbing your wrist and dragging you out.
you groaned, trying to pry from his grip but only for him to tightened it. he stopped by the door, having a moment of thoughts
“you don’t have to do it, i’m not asking anymo-” you couldn’t finish your sentence before tsukki turns to face you, cupping your cheeks and pecking your lips. you stood there, your face burning up and turning red. tsukki pushed his hair backwards before picking you up and throwing you to the bed.
“i knew this was gonna happen, you’re gonna accept it no matter what.” taking his glasses off, he glared down at you, his brows furrowing.
what a night you could say ~
𝕜𝕦𝕣𝕠𝕠 𝕥𝕖𝕥𝕤𝕦𝕣𝕠𝕦
this guy- istg.
any mistletoe, like any, EVEN THE ONES PLACED INFRONT OF A BUSY MALL, he’d sneakily give you a kiss.
your face will burn like hell but aint gonna lie though you liked it alot
he’ll go out to wrap his arm around your waist and pull you close to him, giving you a very long and passionate kiss
so long sometimes people just awes the both of you and wish you both the best of luck (you’re face will be as red as a tomato by now)
every year, he’d always hand you a gift after kissing below a mistletoe, just to spice things up (what a gentleman uwu)
maybe this year...i guess you could say you’ll never forget this year’s christmas. ever.
walking around the mall with your hand intertwined with your boyfriend’s, it was the most romantic date out of all the dates you’ve went with him. you could have spent your day at his place, binge watching every christmas movie he downloaded online. but he felt a little special and decided to bring you out to see the lights and do some shopping here and there.
you stopped after eyeing on the huge christmas tree deco that was centered at the mall. you pulled out your phone, dragging kuroo in as you snapped pictures of the both of you with the beautifully lit tree as your background. you heart melt as you take short glances to your boyfriend who was smiling as you snapped the pictures. after a few takes, you switched the camera around to take pictures of the lights and your surrounding. you were so engrossed with the atmosphere you weren’t aware of what’s was anticipating upon you.
you felt a hand gripping onto your arm and pulling you back. turning, kuroo only smiled before his eyes looked up. you followed his eyes to see the little plant hanging above the both of you. your cheeks grew red, knowing very well that he’d devour your lips even if you both are in public. kuroo took your phone from your hands, pocketing it into his coat. his hand snaked around your waist, while the other cupped the side of your cheek. his face slowly inched closer to yours, feeling the tip of your noses touching each other. your eyes were shut close as you felt his soft lips colliding with yours. as per usual, the kiss was slow, passionate, filled with love. you could hear couples behind aweing the both of you. a rush of embarrassment started to creep upon you, making you try to pull away from the kiss. it only made kuroo deepened the kiss, his grip around your waist tightening. after a solid seven minutes of endless love, he broke it off, his eyes looking straight into yours. you gave him a weak smile, still slightly embarrassed that this all occurred in public. he tucked your hair that was covering your face, lifting your chin up slightly higher to see your every feature.
“i love, y/n.” he said cheekily. you only lightly punched his chest, before saying it back. he took a step back away from you, pulling a small black box from the inside of his coat. oh my god. is this really happening? is it what you think it is? you watched every move he did, where he got down on one of his knee, slowly opening the box revealing a diamond ring nicely tucked in the sponge placed inside. a swam of people soon crowd around, some with their phones out recording.
“my dearest y/n, spending my high school years with you till this very day has never once been a bore to me. every moment, i cherish it. every memory, i kept it secure within my heart. you are my everything, and for that, i want to create more memories with you, each better than the one before. “ he took the ring out the box, reaching out for your hand.
“y/n, will you marry me ?” you could the lights reflecting from his eyes, his smile never leaving his face. everyone crowding around slowly waited for your respond, some clenching their hands into each other in hopes of this public engagement to be successful. you giggled, a tear shedding from your eyes. you looked at kuroo, stepping a little closer to him, before nodding with a smile pasted on your face.
“i would love to.” the crowd was cheering, applauding as kuroo slipped the ring onto your finger. he got up from his kneel, pulling you in for a hug. you sighed in relief as you bury your face onto his chest.
“god, this is embarrassing !!” you screamed into his chest, bringing him to laugh while caressing your hair.
hands down, this was the best christmas day ever.
𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕠𝕦 𝕤𝕒𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕚
honestly, he has never once walk by a mistletoe.
n e v e r
either he avoids it or just pays no attention to it
with that, he doesn’t get why couples kiss in certain locations that has a small plant hanging above them.
you thought you could use this as an advantage to get him to give you a little kiss.
you went to the deco shop and bought a mistletoe, hiding it in your bag as you went back into the dorm he was living in.
you waited for a perfect time before you could pull  it out and kiss him
but i guess not all plans work out, huh ?
“satori !!” you cheered as he opened the front door, his smile growing just as you arrived. he let you in, closing the door behind him before plopping back in bed, reading his weekly shounen jump magazine. now is the perfect time. you quietly took the mistletoe out of your back, tiptoeing you way behind tendou who was busy reading. you held the mistletoe above in between both of you, preparing youself. you cleared your throat loud and clear for tendou to hear, which worked and he turned around.
you inched closer, eyes close as you slowly move closer to tendou to kiss him.
“wakatoshi ?” he said before moving out of your way, making you fall face flat onto his pillow. you groaned, turning to realise wakatoshi was standing at the door. tendou walked up to him, conversing away as you lay on the bed, upset that your plan did not work. you toyed with the mistletoe on your hand, tempting to throw it away. you were downplayed the idea of kissing him. despite dating him for over 5 months now, he never really showed much affection aside from hugs or just head pats.
after a while, ushijima left the dorm after handing tendou a gift. tendou turned to see you in the midst of chucking the mistletoe in the bin, which caught his attention.
“oh ? isn’t that the plant thingy that couples kiss under ?” you were surprised he knew despite not seeing one is real life. he walked over to you, taking it from your hands and observing it. he was mesmerised, fondling with it for a while. he placed ushijima’s gift on the table before resuming to inspect the little ornament.
you started to grow a little annoyed that we was taking too long playing with it. your hands were crossed and one of your knee popped out as you spoke in a very cold manner.
“look, it’s trash, just throw it out.” to your surprised, tendou stretches his arm that was holding the mistletoe up high above, before his lips pecking yours. his sudden action kind of caught you off guard. you could not react fast before he smashed his lips back to yours, a hand snaked around your waste to pull you closer. your hands cupped his cheeks as you slowly melt from the kiss. you’ve anticipated this long enough and now you got it.
tendou broke the kiss, chucking the mistletoe straight into the bin before pushing you down to the bed. he hovered above you, his hands caging you. he lowered his body closer to yours. you shiver slightly which made him grin from your reaction.
“you were hoping for this weren’t you, hmph?” he whispered to your ear. this was a whole new side of tendou you’re experiencing. however, you were rather fond of his more dominant side, instead of his cheerful loud side he portrayed since the beginning of your relationship.
your noses touch, his lips slightly brushing over yours. he got back up, removing his shirt before tossing it to the ground and caging you back with his hands.
“i guess our christmas is gonna be a wild one, huh?” he giggled before nibbling on your earlobe.
i’ll let your imagination roam further~
but let’s just say, you were satisfied at the end despite your plan backfiring<3

Quick Thoughts on Is This The Real Life or Is This Just A Very Bizarre Fantasy?
• Here are the tags to block if you don't want to see this post on your dash: #long post, #trh quick thoughts, #trh qts, #trh qt reblogs.
• It's...Chapter 10. Often known as the midpoint. I know TRR isn't exactly the most nuanced series out there, but you know what used to happen by midpoints here? Important plot stuff that had buildup and development prior to it happening.
• Funny enough all three chapter 10s so far had something to do with Constantine! Book 1's had him announce he was stepping down and making Liam king, Book 2 had the reveal that the conspiracy against the MC was his idea. And then he actually dies in Book 3 Chapter 10. Now that he's no more, I guess they brought back another asshole dad to take his place.
• PB if you were really in a mood to bring back Bertrand's dad the least you could have done was build it up properly. You had an entire freaking chapter to at least build up on the Beaumont family relationships and issues! Yet all we see is that motorcycle with a hint that never fully gets told and very little besides that.
• Like, the narrative usually takes soooo much time to build everything properly, right? With chapters and chapters of hints? Look at all these things that you built up over chapters and sometimes over books: Liam's issues with his dad...The whereabouts of Savannah...Drake's connection to Bastien...Drake's mom's ranch...Drake's special relationship with his dad...Drake's duel...Drake's secret wedding...oh.
• Screenshots:

Title: The Beaumont Bachelor Bash
Alternative Title: Proof That Drake Is Undoubtedly Leona's Nephew. Even When He's Trying To Be Nice.
• Now Playing As Bertrand.
Wh - what...?
Okay but this is probably a tiny section and then my MC will come and save the day, right? Right?? I mean it's happened before (one of the most recent times we got a Bertrand PoV was in a Chapter 10, in fact!)
• ...how the hell did a motorcycle fit inside THAT BOX?
• I know, I know. It's mentioned time and again that the package is huuuuge. But that's...not the kind of packaging I'd be expecting for something that large. It wouldn't be SQUARE, at least.
• Okay wait. What was Maxwell panicking and stress-dancing about again? Bertrand isn't cottoning on to this plan as quickly as Maxwell/the LI was implying in that text.
• Okay wait so their great plan for the BBBB was...Bertrand putting away his cutlery and..."roughin' it"? Aren't bachelor/ette parties supposed to be catered to the guest of honour's needs?
Or is "something you want" only meant for Savannah? Because Hana actually read up and did research and tried to cater the entire party to whatever Savannah liked - not drag her along for something that wasn't her thing with "expand your horizons!" as an excuse.
• Like me, Bertrand doesn't fully trust his brother-in-law's motives.
• Wait what.
.• Bertrand is getting a new outfit. Oh he's wearing it already. Okay good. Must be free!
Tumblr media
WHAT. WHAT. ARE YOU TELLING ME I'M NOT SEEING ESTHER FOR THE REST OF THIS CHAPTER
Tumblr media
• I am NOT buying Bertrand new clothes. I didn't buy any last book, and I'm not going to start buying them now. Even if I didn't buy him the swanky maroon sweater last book he somehow wound up wearing it anyway in the finale. I'm sure he'll survive and they'll probably let him wear it for free some other time lol.
• Drake leads the boys to a nearby river, hoping to catch some fish that they can cook for dinner later.
• Bertrand gets...a dilapidated fishing pole. While everyone has prepared enough to get their own, perfectly alright ones. Drake is truly from Leona's bloodline, giving Bertrand stuff that'll make his task difficult (remember how she gave Bertrand a really rough horse to the country fair?). "I just wanted you to believe in yourself", my ass. You're doing this for your own entertainment.
• Also wasn't Maxwell organizing this party? Why does the end result look so much like Drake's idea? Or maybe the boys are splitting the activities between each other or something idk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• That's a...puffer fish?
• The funniest option is the choose to grab Drake because Bertrand calls him "the Aggressively Rustic Drake" haha. It means of course that Bertrand will not get a fish but that's okay, Drake and Liam catch more than enough for dinner.
• But if Bertrand DOES catch that big fish his chest is all puffed out in pride and he notices no one else caught a fish as big as his 😄
• You can TELL Liam chose the next activity, because it's so aggressively Cordonian 😂 You need to shoot an apple with a weapon (preferably a bow and arrow, but the game offers you a rifle and an ornate gun as well).
• Of course I went ahead and shot Drake with a rubber bullet. Sorry Bertrand but I'm sure you can get your Knight-Marksmanship and Honorary Defender of the Realm award in a kinder person's playthrough 😅
• It's a nice scene, quite reminiscent of the first half of Maxwell's armoury scene last book, which involves Maxwell and the MC playing the same game.
• Now that we're done with the apples, it's time to bring out the bubbly!
• "This is not my bachelor party," says Drake when a surprised Liam asks him about why there's no whiskey. Coulda fooled me dude I've never heard of people giving the groom a dilapidated fishing pole to fish with for that kind of thing. I mean like more than 90% of this entire plan seems to cater to your tastes more than his.
• Bertrand (about the bubbly): This is from an excellent region of France!
Maxwell: Which one?
Bertrand: ...Champagne.
😂
• It's now night, so time for some...idk heartfelt man-talk or something.
Tumblr media
It starts out with the main LI speaking about Bertrand and Savannah's relationship, praising them for how far they've come and there is some emphasis on the fact that they have Bartie. This leads the LI in question (if they're there) to talk candidly about their relationship with the MC and their sadness that they aren't pregnant yet.
- Liam: Speaks of how amazing the MC is and wonders if he's putting her through too much pressure on his Queen with the expectations of an heir.
- Drake: Very similar to Liam's, but this time Liam apologizes for forcing them into this kind of pressure and promises to withdraw it if that's what they want. (Liam will allow it, the narrative won't!)
- Hana: Since neither of the women are there, the conversation goes straight into Liam wondering if he did the wrong thing by placing that much pressure on them, and Bertrand reassuring him that both are phenomenal women and any child they bring up will be a worthy successor to the throne.
- Maxwell: From what @itsbrindleybinch was telling me, there's no discussion about Liam's offer or the pressure from him! The conversation is more centered around his fear that he might screw up in parenting...to which his brother has some of the best responses:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Istg when the writers really allow for those two to blossom on their own, the Brothers Beaumont dynamic is fantastic. I loved both responses from Bertrand.
I'm still wondering why there isn't much from Liam about the pressure he's placing on them, though! I mean, Maxwell and his wife are put under the same amounts of pressure so you'd expect Liam to speak up there too, right? (correct me if I'm wrong, because I can't find a full playthrough of Maxwell's route anywhere).
• The discussion slowly progresses into one about Bertrand's love for Savannah and not knowing how to show it properly to her...to which Drake responds that Bertrand needs to SHOW what he feels and maybe do a big dramatic gesture like the ones you see in romcoms (racing through an airport to confess your love, or confessing it while standing in the rain)...lmao I love how big gestures are something Savannah wants for herself but somehow she can't do the smallest things to help Bertrand feel more comfortable in her own damn home.
• Also I need to laugh at how desperately the writers are now trying to show us how "open minded" Drake is LMAO. TRR Drake looked down on his nose on practically all things not macho (including authentic Chinese food and pink cakes) and now they're making it sound like he's a romcom fan and willing to experiment with a tutu.
• Not buying that serenading scene. I didn't handhold Bertrand into telling Savannah about the Beaumont finances, nor did I handhold him into proposing. He did pretty okay without my help so far.
• The serenading scene has two main components (besides the logistics of communicating and then climbing up to her window) - telling Savannah his feelings and then singing to her. The first main options include suggestions from the boys:
Liam: Very sweet and romantic, with the kind of flowery language you would expect from Liam, and that Bertrand feels so comfortable with that he smiles as he says the words.
Drake: Very much, "I was an idiot but now I've come to my senses and I'm the luckiest man ever because of you" which...sure I can put it down to bias for his sister but now it just annoys me when I hear this. Esp during a time when he's claiming he actually likes Bertrand now.
Maxwell: Is just so fucking funny 😂
Bertrand: Savannah, I'm here because you're my...boo???
Maxwell: Trust me! Keep going!
Bertrand: Ahem. You are my boo, and I'm your...okay I'm not going to say that.
Savannah: What are you saying???
• For actually serenading her with a song you can either choose to go sweet and romantic, or you go "sexy", which tbh seems to be the funnier option because most of it is Bertrand muttering MmmMMmMmmm in place of all the sexy parts. Which is funny considering he and Savannah conceived a child atop an office desk of all places way before any of us even got to KISS our LIs 🤣
• Savannah is happy, Bertrand is happy, the boys are all back in the camp where they'll be spending the night. There's a tiny bit of "foreshadowing" in the ensuing conversation since Barthelemy is mentioned, but very much in a "Dad would be proud of you" way. I put that word "foreshadowing" in quotes coz there is very little it gives us, as opposed to how other things that have received foreshadowing were built up.
• Uh oh. BEAR ATTACK. From Kenna's pet-bear-from-Aurelia's descendant. Who somehow ended up in the woods in Texas 😂
• Drake tries to distract the bear, and Bertrand can either join him or go with Liam and Maxwell who are leading the way to an alternative location.
• We're out in the wilderness somewhere, and getting back to our tents is a diamond option. It's a fun diamond option though, and it doesn't involve me doing any unnecessary matchmaking.
• Liam is the strategist who makes a battle plan. Why don't I get to see him do these kind of things in his actual job PB!! Drake "knows the most woodcraft" and will therefore make a good scout, both he and Liam can draw the bear away, and Maxwell's hitherto-unseen present is now their secret weapon. Bertrand isn't sure about this plan but goes along with it anyway.
• Everything goes as per plan, and Maxwell unleashes the "secret weapon": Bertrand's beloved Cavilieri Novanta 9S motorbike. There's a small hint about him having to perhaps give it away or sell it when his father, well, did whatever he did, and Maxwell somehow traced it and got it back. I'm kinda certain that bike may feature in Bertrand's flashback if he's having one next chapter. Bertrand is emotional AND ecstatic, learning again to control his bike and to enjoy being on it.
• The best part of the bear scene, is when he uses his Duke of Ramsford voice and gives the bear the ole what-for 😂

(Bottom four screenshots from BizzysChoices' YouTube channel!)
• Even the bear could not withstand the severe tongue lashing LMAO. Bertrand has the option of ending this...um...verbal duel by telling his furry opponent to tell his children he has been bested by a Beaumont.
• The bear slumps back home in shame, but Bertrand is worried about what other tests Drake has in store. 'Tests?' Drake says innocently.
Tumblr media
You're forgetting the part where you constantly blamed Bertrand for everything, knowing full well your sister made her fair share of mistakes. Or the part where you pretty much sabotaged an investigation just to stroke your ego about Bertrand getting her pregnant. Or the part where you repeatedly made it clear that you thought he didn't deserve Savannah. Or the part where you made him cluck like a chicken just before he proposed, just so you could have your moment to gloat. Or the part where you would shoot looks at Bertrand if he even so much as hinted your sister wasn't perfect. Or the part where your aunt kept making snide remarks about him, disrespected him, and gave him a rough horse, while you and your mother and your sister stood by and watched. And NOW you claim that the only person doubting Bertrand is BERTRAND?
Yeah. Well...tldr:
Tumblr media
• My gosh. The amount of retconning happening here is giving me a headache.
• Like...I like that Drake can be nicer to Bertrand now and that most of the tension is gone. But let's not act like Drake wasn't knowingly adding fuel to the fire before??
• Anyway, the boys tell Bertrand they are proud of him and proceed to sleep in their tents or wherever they've chosen to sleep for the night.
• PB gives Liam the very, very rare chance to remind Drake that he grew up in a palace. Doesn't mean much, but I'm fairly happy.
• FINALLY. Esther's home and I can finally play as her again!
• If you bought the serenading scene, there are a couple extra lines showing Savannah and Bertrand looking super super happy.
• There's an old man at the door.
• BARTHELEMY???
• Neither of his sons even look like him. And it reads as if Bertrand is less surprised about the possibility that Barthelemy is alive than Maxwell is. What's going on.
General Thoughts:
• Alright, so it looks like this week we will be exploring the Beaumont family history, looking into why Bertrand lost his zest for life and ended up taking care of the estate when all this time his father was actually alive, and how the Beaumonts wound up so poor. There had better be a substantial amount of Maxwell because he's not been getting a lot of attention this book.
• I'm wondering if Barthelemy's return will cause Bertrand and Maxwell's insecurities to rise again, and we'll probably need to help them through that or something.
• Looks like the next chapter might have a young!Maxwell scene or Maxwell's first diamond scene, or both? Idk. I can't say for sure because I don't exactly trust the team on these things.
• There were...elements of the chapter that were good, I'll give it that. Bertrand's got an interesting narrative voice. You can tell it's him by the way he uses titles, by the way he speaks when he is proud of something he has achieved, the language itself that is heavy in its bearing. The scenes were fun from what I've seen. The bonding was good. Problem was...in a better book this wouldn't have been so irritating and such a sign of how not into the most important things about this book the team is.
• Since they had the time and the ideas, why the hell was the buildup to this reveal so flimsy and half-baked? I mean if you're going to give Bertrand an entire freaking chapter, shouldn't you have been using at least that space to have Bertrand speak a little more about Barthelemy? Or build it up earlier? All this time we'd had to deal with Savannah's griping and complaining and Leona's snide remarks, we could have spent learning from Maxwell a little about his family.
• Usually buildup to a lot of these things happen through hints over chapters. But this? Little to none. Maybe like two half-sentences said just before the reveal. It's all kinds of shitty, and it's what happens when the most important Beaumont is a Walker.
• I'm also pretty surprised Liam doesn't get to apologize to Maxwell the way he does to Drake about the royal heir thing.
• So the Walker Ranch chapters started around Chapter 6, and might possibly end around Chapter 12 (with a detour to Auvernal around Chapter 9). That's 5 whole chapters + one more to tour the States itself.
• I know the original idea was to do an epilogue book revolving around the Walker ranch, so there's obviously a lot more clarity in those chapters than in the others. But that is still no excuse. If they were going to change track they should have been doing it properly. There's no excuse for this kind of selective laziness especially when it's been manifested countless times before.
• I also find the whole idea of revolving the epilogue book still pretty problematic. At the core of it that would be more of Drake and his family (which was already happening honestly) and it would mean they are absolutely front and center of everything. If the original idea was to focus fully on the Walkers...yikes.
• Yeah honestly, this chapter was pretty iffy for me. And I'm not exactly very enthusiastic about writing for it, or playing the next chapter.
• Also! For those who didn't see it, this past week I'd been working on an essay about the treatment for Kiara and Penelope in TRR Book 3, and it's here below in case you haven't read it and you want to!
To Be Not Heard: Kiara, Penelope and the Question of Validation.
• Alright! On to the next chapter.
If you like it and want to discuss it, I'd be only too happy to read your comments! 😀

Can You See It?
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff, Slight Angst, Soulmate!AU Summary: Jungkook’s marking is leaked and out in the open for everyone to see. Everyone, including you. Characters: Jungkook, Reader Words: 6,363 Warnings: Swearing
A wrinkled napkin was pulled from underneath the steaming caramel macchiato of the local cafe, the paper still warm to the touch after acting as a makeshift coaster. A hand reaches down into its designer leather messenger bag and clasps onto a ball point pen. The pen is pressed to paper and what becomes of it is rhythmical scribbling of the same design. Over and over, it’s drawn with the same repetitive nature that plays on in its owner’s mind. Obsessed. The boys surrounding him smirk teasingly.
“Aww, poor Jungkookie is desperate,” Jimin sneered from next to him, “what a hopeless romantic.”
The eldest, Jin, playfully smacked him upside the head. “Don’t listen to this idiot, you’ll find them eventually.”
After the wrinkled napkin had been filled, Jungkook took a sip of his coffee and fondly looked at the design on his wrist. He lightly brushed over it, before finishing the rest of his drink and rushing after the boys as they left, leaving his handiwork behind.
“Hey, wait up, guys!” He frantically called as they piled into the van. He quickly hopped in and sat at the seat nearest to the door, which he slid shut. Their manager turned on the radio as they pulled away from the quaint cafe. Jungkook watched as the sun settled over the city skyline, brandishing the once blue sky with a burning crimson shade. He leaned against the door and stared out the window, daydreaming of what his soulmate would be like. He’s always had ideals in his head, but for all he knows, they could be the complete opposite; but he’d love them regardless.
Pulling up to their dorms, Jungkook was ripped from his thoughts and grounded back to reality. The other boys shoved at him to get moving, laughing at his love-sickened state.
“Get up, Romeo, I’ve gotta get back to my game!” Taehyung laughed over him and slid the door open.  Jungkook got out of the way as the rest flooded out of the cramped van like clowns piling out of a clown car. They all followed one another into the building, bumping into each other and joking between themselves. Jin began preparing a late supper for everyone as soon as they got in and everyone dispersed to do their own individual tasks. Jungkook aided Jin in the kitchen, going to sit on the couch after being dismissed, joining Namjoon and Yoongi who were watching a movie.
It wasn’t even moments after he’d sat down when Jungkook seen the headlines filling his phone. BTS’ Jeon Jungkook marking revealed?!  He facepalmed at his idiocy when the news started popping up, remembering where he’d fucked up. He couldn’t believe he let something like this get leaked. Hoseok came from his room and leaned over Jungkook’s shoulder, showing him the screen of his phone, printed with the same damn headline.
“Did you see this? They got your marking, Jungkook, did you forget something? How’d they find out?” He was filled with questions.
“Remember that cafe we went to on Monday? I think I forgot to throw away the napkin I was scribbling on and someone probably picked it up.” He sighed, turning off his phone and throwing it angrily next to him.
Namjoon peeped up from his phone, probably reading the article right then and there, “There is a silver lining to this, though. Now it’ll be potentially easier for you to find your soulmate. I mean imagine, there’ll be more people testing to see if they’re your match, maybe you’ll find the right person.” Jungkook perked up at that, a faint smile gracing his face.
“You’re right, hyung,” His smile grew into a confident grin, “I will find them, whoever they are.”
You groaned when your body decided to rudely awake you, it was even worse because you were in the middle of a dream. Rolling over, you picked up your phone to check for notifications. The bright screen burned your eyes, but as soon as they’d adjusted, you perked up in interest at a message from your best friend. You went to see what it was, suspicious as you read how excited she was about it.
-”You’re gonna flip your shit, omg.”
You were skeptical when you clicked on the link your friend sent you. As it loaded into view in front of your eyes, you clutched your heart after reading the title. You didn’t even read the article before you frantically bashed your keys, replying to your friend at the speed of light.
-”This is a joke right?? You’re pranking me. You’re punking me. This isn’t funny.” -“Did you even read the article? Lol”
You ditched the conversation to read the rest of it. And then you seen the attached image. It felt like your jaw dropped to the floor and you quickly slapped your hand over your mouth, tears starting to leak out from the corners of your eyes. There it was. Over and over, the same image covering the paper. The same image imprinted on the back of your hand.
-”You’ve gotta be pranking me istg. You wrote this didn’t you. Don’t lie. I told you about that in secrecy and you betray me like this??” -”It’s for real, I swear. I’d never do something like that to you.”
Below it was an image of Jeon Jungkook drawing on the same paper. You stared at the images in disbelief. No way. There is no way in hell this could be real. But if it was?
-”You’ve still got those tickets for Saturday, right?” -”Yup, fanmeet and hightouch included ;)” -”You’re the best.”
Their week had been absolutely filled with practices for the upcoming concert to kick off the start of their new concert season. Their first concert would be on Saturday, and Jungkook was both ecstatic and nervous. This would be the first time he’d make contact with ARMYs since the marking leak. It’d be an eventful season to say the least. It’s not like he’s expecting to find his soulmate or anything, but the possibility that he could excited him.
He decided in his head that if he was to meet his soulmate, he’s going to practice even harder to impress them, just in case they happen to see. Make a good first impression and all.
“Ah, look at Jungkookie go! He’s working so hard, is this for your lover, Jungkook~?” Jimin cooed teasingly from his seat on the ground. Jungkook stopped and threw a towel at him in response. Jimin fell in defeat, laughing at how his teasing affected the youngest.
“So sensitive.” Jimin laughed.
Namjoon came over and sat next to Jimin, “Leave the maknae alone, Jimin, he’s just going through puberty,” Jungkook threw a shoe at him next, “-I’m kidding!”
Jungkook sighed in frustration, slicked his hair back, popped a snapback on, and went back to work. He was confident everything would be perfect for the tour. Maybe even perfect to the person who fills his every thought. Maybe. Hopefully.
You’d spent all month planning what you were going to say to them; how could something like that change so quickly with a single article? You were panicking all week, and it had only gotten more intense with every passing day. Your anxiety was at an all-time high today of all days. The day of the concert. The day you’d meet BTS. The day you’d see Jeon Jungkook, face to face. Holy shit.
To say you were freaking out would be an understatement. You’d picked out your whole outfit and look weeks prior but you began to doubt yourself. Time was running out with each passing minute though, so you got changed and did your makeup. Once you were done, by god, you took back what you were thinking prior. You looked bomb, and felt like a million bucks.
You heard the loud honk from your best friend’s car outside, grabbed your stuff, and hauled ass to get outside. The ride somehow felt like it took 80 years and 10 seconds at the same time. And so did the line outside of the stadium. While you waited, all you could do was nervously look at the marking on your hand and nervously rub at it.
Jungkook anxiously rubbed at the marking on his wrist while his stylist finished up on his makeup. She went to reach for his wrist and Jungkook pulled away from her. “Not today, please. I want to see what happens.” She nodded and set her brush down, patting his back to signal she was done. Jungkook got up to join the rest of the boys, nervously fixing his hair as he glanced out at the screaming fans from backstage. It made him feel confident to hear their eager cheering, but the thought that someone out there could be his “one” made his heart skip a beat or two. Soon he heard their stage intro start to play and with a gulp, he followed his friends out onto the stage. The cheering got louder.
You felt like you were going to have a heart attack when you seen your boys flood out on stage, desperately clutching to your friends arm as you screamed your head off, though she did the same. Then he walked on and it felt like time halted right then and there. Everything seemed to go completely silent, you didn’t breathe, you couldn’t scream. And then he turned and you seen his eyes. Everything flooded back to you in that moment, every emotion, every sound; it was overwhelming.
You didn’t know it then, but you were crying. Every cheer that came from you seemed like it was louder than every other voice in that stadium, but you knew it was all in your head. You’d been practicing fan chants for months in preparation and you repetitively chanted every one perfectly for every song without missing a beat. After a while, they took a break to interact with the audience. Everyone laughed and squealed at their antics in unison, including you.
You swore Jungkook caught your eyes, and the smirk that followed made you feel like you were floating on cloud nine. Afterwards, they continued on with the concert, each choreography absolutely slaying your existence and every song sounding like a choir of angels echoing throughout the stadium. You were absolutely floored by their encore performance, and when you realized the concert was over, you couldn’t decide if you were sad it was over, or ecstatic that you got to witness it.
As people left, some staff lead those with tickets over to the fanmeet and hightouch. You followed after your friend, and as the line got shorter, you swore you were going into cardiac arrest. You waited patiently, and when you finally reached the door and seen them, a single tear fell from your eyes. When you managed to drag your eyes away from them, you started to notice a whole line of girls with the marking drawn on various parts of their body. Jungkook’s marking. Your marking.
Your friend noticed your change in attitude and laughed, “Don’t worry about them, they’re not real. They’re not you,” You nodded with confidence and stepped ahead.
To be fair, you thought something like this might happen. Of course it would, anyone would take the chance too, if it was staring them right in the face. Jeon Jungkook’s marking was out in the open for everyone to see, so of course there’d be imposters trying to make claims they were his soulmate. It was a given. You just hoped he hadn’t fallen for it yet.
You kneeled down at the table once your turn came and smiled politely to Jin. You pulled his gift from your bag, it wasn’t much, but you wanted to show your appreciation. You’d brought gifts for everyone. He bowed in thanks and grinned. “You’re so sweet, thank you.” He spoke as he held your hand, and you shyly said, “You’re welcome.”
You were filed down the line as you told everyone how grateful you were and how they’d changed your life for the better, and you gave them each a gift, something you thought well represented them and how you felt. You noticed many girls showing off their ‘marking’ to Jungkook, each member having to confirm they seen it to prove it as fake. You smiled to yourself, knowing it wasn’t too late.
Eventually you reached Jungkook, at the very end of the table. You suddenly had the same feeling as you had earlier when he first came on stage. Time stopped and you couldn’t breathe. His words broke you out of your trance. “Are you alright?” He smiled, unwittingly taking your marked hand. You looked up into his eyes and they looked frozen on your hand. You noticed his pupils dilate a bit and he quickly spoke, “Hyungs-”
They all turned to face him. You noticed some fans look over expectantly too. Jimin leaned over and looked between you. “What is it? Another marking?” Jungkook simply nodded, “Can you see it?”
The rest shuffled over eagerly. “Where is it?” They asked, seemingly in unison. Jungkook replied by rubbing his thumb over the back of your hand. Everyone just kind of looked between themselves and shook their heads. You looked up at them and their teasing grins. “Aww, Jungkookie is lucky,” Hoseok laughed and ruffled Jungkook’s hair, “she’s cute.” He whispered to him.
Jungkook quickly slapped his hand away, and the boys all laughed at his reaction. Jungkook took your other hand and held them together, surrounding them warmly with his hands. It felt like they were meant to be together, like two broken pieces of the most beautiful vase. He leaned in and just stared into your eyes for a moment. He’d been dreaming of this moment for as long as he can remember. “W-what’s your name?”
“Y/N.” You hastily replied. Y/N. Y/N. God, that sounded like music to his ears. It echoed on and on in his mind like a symphony of the finest instruments. It played in his heart like children dancing in a meadow. It sounded so light and airy and alluring as it slipped from your lips. It was intoxicating. And it only sounded better to you after hearing him repeat it an instant later.
You were the first to avert your gaze, as your eyes widened and you remembered about his present. “Ah, here it is! I got you a present.” you smiled and pulled out his gift. A white t-shirt brandishing each other’s symbol on the sleeve.
He took it from your hands and examined it, grinning. “You were enough of a gift, but I love it,” he winked at you and laughed, holding it to his heart. You giggled and slipped him a piece of paper next, “I hope it wasn’t too cheesy, but I hope you’ll use this too,” you shuffled away from the table for the next person in line, blowing Jungkook a kiss and winking at him, “I hope I hear from you later.”
You managed to catch up with your friend by the door, waiting for the hightouch. She laughed as you jogged over, your face as red as a cherry from the experience you had prior at the table.
“So, how’d it go? Did he propose? Are you pregnant? When’s the wedding? I better be your best maid.” She joked around with you, taking notice of your confident state.
“It went great, I think he likes me; I hope he likes me. I slipped him my number. Oh god, he was gorgeous, it took all my strength not to break out into tears right then and there. I’m ranting aren’t I? Please, shut me up.” You nervously broke into hysterical laughter.
“Man, you’re really head over heels, aren’t you? I hate to see how you’re gonna be once the doors open for hightouch.” She smirked.
When the doors finally did open, you could have sworn at least 75% of the line screamed and squealed in excitement. You linked arms with your best friend and moved forward with the rest of the fans. It was almost deafening listening to the loud banter and screeching coming from everyone, but you didn’t blame them. To be honest, if you weren’t so nervous right now, you’d probably join them. But that was for another time, when you felt less like your heart was beating out of your chest.
When it was your turn to reenter the room, you almost stopped, if it weren’t for a pair of hands coming from an irritated fan behind you, lightly pushing you to keep moving. As soon as you stepped forward, one foot entering the room, it felt more like you had one foot in the grave because Jungkook immediately caught your eye and smirked. He then refocused his attention back on the fans as they filed one by one to hold his hands. You went down the line as well as each of the boys looked you over approvingly.
“I hope we see you again. I’m really rooting for you.” Jin smiled kindly and passed you off to Namjoon. They all were so kind and reassuring of your connection with Jungkook. It felt like they were accepting you in a way, being Jungkook’s newfound soulmate and all.
And then Jimin passed you off to Jungkook. It was almost unreal the way he looked at you, the feeling was incomparable to anything you’ve ever felt in your life. You felt.. complete. You found your other half; your equal. Your hands seemed to never let go of eachother like two magnets bound together by an immeasurable electrical bond. And then reality ripped you two apart and grounded you. He smiled and whispered, “I hope you’ll hear from me later.”
You giddily giggled and went back to your friend, “Y/F/N, holy shit. I think he’s gonna call me later. I need some moral support right now. I think my brain is fried. I can’t comprehend this.”
“You’re such a nerd, gosh. He’s just a person. A person who was destined to love you and live by your side for all of eternity.” She cooed, nudging your arm with her shoulder.
“You’re really not helping.” You said, wrinkling your nose in annoyance at her. “Really? I thought I was doing a marvelous job. ‘Was even considering getting my degree in therapy.” She sarcastically replied.
It was late, but you both were starving after the concert. All that screaming and cheering really takes a number on a person. You and your friend decided to stop in to your favorite restaurant; they had the best soup. And soup sounded amazing right now. You walked in and were instantly greeted with the hearty smell of fresh cooked food. Your favorite waiter was working tonight and he smiled as he led you to your booth. “The usual, ladies?” The man politely asked and walked off when you both nodded in reply.
While he was away, your friend and you recollected and discussed the events of the concert. “Do you remember when Yoongi and Hoseok came right over by us? It felt like I could reach out and touch them they were so close. Can you believe them? Jesus, how rude.” She laughed and fanned herself off dramatically. Just before you could speak, the waiter was back with your meals. “It looks amazing. Thanks, Han, you’re the best.” Your friend beamed from her plate.
“Yeah, thanks Han.” You smiled up at him in gratitude, but you were quickly distracted by the savory aroma of your homestyle chicken and rice soup. “No problem, ladies. Let me know if you need me.” you peeked up soon enough to notice him wink and shyly bite his lip at your friend. You watched as he walked away and awkwardly tripped over a chair leg before calmly catching his footing.
“You really need to ask the poor boy out, he’s literally falling for you. He’s gonna break his neck one of these times, I swear.” You laughed, before spooning soup into your mouth. “I know, but I’m not really that avid about this whole soulmate thing as you are. There’s gotta be more than one fish in the sea, ya’ get me?” She shrugged while leaning over, dipping her sandwich in your soup and taking a bite. You nodded in understanding.
By the time you were done, Han was back. He pulled up a chair to your booth and groaned, cracking his neck. “It was such a long day, but i’m finally done for the day. How was the concert?” Y/F/N leaned in on her elbow and smiled in remembrance, “It was amazing, as expected.”
“Hey, Han? Where’s our check?” You looked around the table after wiping your mouth clean of soup. “Oh, haha, uh, it’s on the house if Y/F/N agrees to go out for lunch with me on Friday.” He nervously rubbed the back of his neck and smiled eagerly at her.
You looked at her, both you and Han waiting so quietly for a response you could hear crickets chirping from a mile away. “You know that’s a bad business practice right?” She laughed at her joke, “Fine, I’ll give you one chance. But only because I forgot my wallet in the car.” Han’s expression changed faster than you’d ever seen before in anyone. His face lit up like a christmas tree and he laughed excitedly. “You won’t regret this! I’ll pick you up at 8.” He grabbed his coat and ran out the door. You looked out the window and seen him do every possible gesture of joy. He air pumped, clicked his heels midair, the whole nine yards. You swear you even heard him yell “YES!” while running down the street to his car.
Y/F/N sighed and rubbed at her temple while you just smirked amusingly at her. “He’s got a pretty face, but he’s so smitten for you he’s almost a fool.” She laughed, “You mean he is a fool. I’ll admit he’s sweet, though.” You both gathered your things and left for home.
It was a half hour drive back to your town and to past the time, your best friend begged you to tell her everything she missed out on between you and Jungkook. You told her everything down to the minute details. Off and on she’d tease and mock you about how you were blushing, or how dreamy and theatrical you described him. As she pulled up outside your house, she grabbed your arm before you could step out of the car. “You better tell me everything that happens if he calls or texts you, I want the deets, got it? Spill the tea.” She pointed right in your face, then let you go.
You excitedly ran to your room and plopped yourself down onto your bed. You waited anxiously for a call or a text, anything from him. It was about one in the morning when you felt defeated, leaving your phone on your bed, you got dressed for bed and brushed your teeth. Right as you were about to lay down to pass out for the night, you felt the repetitive buzzing of a call. You quickly picked it up to see an unknown number. You answered it with every lasting bit of hope you had, “Hello?”
“Hey, I hope I’m not too late. I didn’t wake you did I?” You heard the nervous hushed voice of Jungkook from behind your phone. You felt your pulse pick up faster.
“No, no, you caught me just in time. I was starting to think you weren’t ever going to call.” You heard him anxiously laugh.
“Ah, sorry, I had to wait for the hyungs to fall asleep. They’re so noisy, I’d hate to miss out on hearing your voice,” your face tinted a rosy pink at his flattery. You tried to think of a response but you were speechless. “Y’know, I never thought I’d meet my soulmate, but now that I’ve seen you, I feel like the luckiest man alive. I just might go out and buy a lottery ticket or something tomorrow. You’ll root for me to win, yeah?” He giggled like a child, you could feel the pure giddiness radiating from him.
“Of course. I know you’d win,” He grinned as he laid back against his plush pillow, sighing dreamily at your voice. “Ah, good. I feel confident I’ll win now,” his hands brushed his hair back and he brought his wrist into view in front of his eyes. Little did he know, you were also staring admiringly at your marking. “I just realized, I hardly know anything about you outside of your name and our mark, but I somehow feel like I’ve known you forever.” He brushed at his wrist, wondering if you could somehow feel it, even though he knew it was impossible.
You finally spoke again, breaking the warm silence that had graced the air for a minute now, “I guess I’ll have to take you out and tell you about myself, won’t I?” It was a bold move and you held your breath as you waited for his response, desperately hoping it wasn’t a no. And then you heard him start to laugh; that was not what you expected, and it made you nervous.
“I guess you will,” you felt relieved when he agreed, as if a stack of bricks were unloaded from atop your chest, “I should be free tomorrow morning, they give me some time to explore during tours, so we can go wherever you want. It’s not long, just a couple hours, but I’m sure it’ll be enough.” You thought over where to go with him, wanting it to be somewhere meaningful.
There was a long pause while you decided before you spoke, “You trust me, right?”
“It’s probably foolish of me, but yeah.” He laughed shyly.
“Text me which hotel you’re at and I’ll pick you up in the lobby tomorrow morning at nine.” you heard him hum ‘mhm’ into the phone in confirmation. “I’ll see you later, Prince Charming, g’night.” You cooed sweetly. “I can’t wait. Night, Y/N,” a kiss echoed from his end of the phone, making you smile before he hung up. You rolled over and sighed into your pillow lovingly, kicking at your blanket as you laughed like a little kid. You had a feeling he’d be in your dreams tonight.
You pulled into the pick up valet area outside of the hotel and got out to run in quick. You found him sitting in the lobby foyer waiting patiently. He perked up when he seen you and grinned, “You look phenomenal, wow. I feel underdressed now.” He laughed and stood up, admiring your look. It was one of your favorite outfits, and you thought it might impress him, but his reaction made you blush bashfully. He walked over and took your marked hand with his, holding it as if it was the only thing grounding him to the earth.
You lead him to the car and held the door open for him, “Ah, such a gentleman,” he laughed and stepped in. Once you joined him adjacent in the driver’s seat, he chose to hold your hand again. “So, where are you taking me?”
“That’s top secret classified info. Just wait, you’ll love it.” you smiled at him reassuringly. “Ooh, top secret, huh? So first you kidnap me and now you’re taking me somewhere ‘top secret’? This is the best date I’ve been on.” He laughed sarcastically and held your hand tighter, “Very funny, Jungkook. How’s this,” you unlooped your fingers from his and hooked his pinky with yours, “I pinky-promise this doesn’t lead to murder or something along the lines of criminal activity. Is that better?” You lifted his hand and kissed the mark on his wrist. “Much better. I feel so relieved.” You noticed he blushed slightly at the gesture, and it warmed your heart.
Not much later, you pulled up to the restaurant you went to with Y/F/N last night. He got out as you did and followed you in. You dragged him to your favorite booth and he sat across from you.
“This is the best place to eat in town. I’ve eaten here ever since I was little. My dad is best friends with the owner, so we came here quite often.” Han came over and set menus in front of you both, smiling brightly. “Hey Y/N. Who’s this?” he offered his hand politely to Jungkook, who awkwardly shook his hand. “This is Jungkook, he’s part of the group we went to see last night. We, um, have the same marking.” Han’s expression changed and he suddenly looked excited for you, “I thought I’d never see the day, wow! Well, what can I get you both?” Jungkook had been looking through the menu, before popping up, “What do you recommend, Y/N?”
You ordered your favorite meal for both of you, hoping he’d enjoy it as much as you did. Han walked away with your orders and Jungkook leaned in closer to you, propping up his head with his hand. “So, tell me everything about you. I want to know you.” you anxiously stacked coffee creamers and looked into his eyes shrugging, “There’s not much to know, I was born and raised here, my family is just another basic middle class family. Oh, and, I’m a huge fan of this group called BTS, I don’t know if you’ve heard of them, but their music is amazing. And don’t even get me started on that Jeon Jungkook guy, he puts the word perfect to shame,” He laughed and looked away, grinning at your sarcastic flattery. “I’ve always wanted to travel the world, I find it amazing that you get to go to all these beautiful places across the world and meet all kinds of interesting people.. What’s that like Jungkook?”
“It’s amazing, I never would’ve pictured this when I was just some kid in Busan. I’ve always wanted to sing when I grew up, so imagine having your dream come true and living it every day. And then to have it lead me to you? That’s the greatest thing that could’ve come from it.” He stared into your eyes, as if they held the meaning of life, and for him they did. Han came back with your food, smiling as he set it down and silently left you both to your own devices. Jungkook took the first bite and hummed in delight, “Mm, this is really good. You’ve got great taste.”
You took a bite and giggled to yourself, “I know, that’s why I’m here with you.” Jungkook snorted at your compliment before breaking out into laughter, “Wow, smooth, Y/N. Good one.”
You noticed a group of girls notice Jungkook through the window of the restaurant and come in. “Oh my god, it’s Jungkookie,” they all seemingly gasped in unison, “Yah, who is this? Your girlfriend?” His eyes widened and he tried hiding behind a menu, but much to his dismay, they definitely knew it was him. He was used to fans running into him, including saesangs, but this situation was sure to cause problems with press. “She’s not your soulmate, is she? You could do much better.” You looked up at them in complete shock at their rudeness.
“Who do you think you are insulting me and harassing him on his break? You should be ashamed acting like this and calling yourself Army. If you had any respect or love for any of the members you’d honor their relationships whether it be platonic or romantic. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re in the middle of a meal; I’m sure Jungkook would’ve been happy to see you all if you weren’t so rude. Too bad, you don’t have the right manners.” You left the girls speechless and you could see the one who spoke up to you turn hotheaded.
“You- you can’t talk to me like that! Jungkook do something! Don’t you love us?” He looked up at the girls nervously, “I love all Army, but you should really be more nice to your fellow fans. If you’d like, I’ll give you all autographs, but I’d really like to finish my meal.” He pulled out a pen from his bag.
“Wouldn’t you rather eat with us, Jungkook?” One of the girls in the back eagerly spoke up. You noticed Han talking with the owner, who came over and told the girls to leave. Han escorted them out while your dad’s friend, Mr. Lin, apologized for how you both were treated. He kindly introduced himself to Jungkook. “Um, Mr. Lin, could you get us a couple to-go boxes?” You smiled. “Of course,” the old man bowed.
“We don’t have to leave, Y/N,” Jungkook held your hand comfortingly. “After what happened, I don’t think that’s the best idea. I’ve got another place to show you anyways, somewhere where we might be able finish our food in peace.” You grinned, taking your boxes after Han finished packing them, and then you paid for the check, leaving a $12 tip.
Jungkook and you got back in the car as you made your way to your next stop. He turned on your radio, and when ‘We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2’ came on instead of the same old pop music, you blushed in embarrassment, remembering you forgot to change the radio back after the concert last night.
You don’t know why you felt embarrassed, but there was something awkward about being in the same car as the guy who’s song was playing through your car’s surround sound stereo. He laughed in amusement as he jokingly rapped Namjoon’s intro. He nudged you playfully, trying to get you to join in. You lost all self control when Jungkook’s rap came on, aggressively rhyming with him.
“Iremeun Jungkook, seukeireun jeonguk,” you both practically rapped at the top of your lungs, which earned you some strange stares when you pulled to a halt at the red light of an intersection. Jungkook looked over and laughed at their expressions as they blurred away with the light changing to green. You pulled to a halt outside of a park near your home. “We’re here.”
Jungkook helped carry the food as you grabbed a blanket from your trunk. You unfolded it over the slightly dewy grass and sat down to anchor it from the gentle breeze. Jungkook sat with you and looked around. The view was beautiful, there was a fountain in the center and a gazebo not far off. You were both seated under a shady willow tree, watching as ducks waddled by through the grass. “This is beautiful,” he smiled.
“I used to come here with my mom and dad when I was little. There used to be a small playground where the gazebo is, but they tore it down a few years back. We would sit and feed the ducks that sat in the fountain,” Thinking of the past when you were young and naive was comforting in a sense. Jungkook opened his takeout container and tried to finish up his food while he listened to you talk. He really seemed interested and fascinated in what you told him; it felt nice to have someone genuinely care and listen about your life.
“Jungkook?” he perked up, his mouth full, “What’s your life like?” He tilted his head and quickly tried to swallow his food. “I figured you’d known almost everything about me, most Army do.” He chuckled.
“Well, I mean, I know most basic things about you, but you can’t know everything, can you?” you leaned on your elbow, laying sideways on the soft fleece blanket. “Well, what would you like to know?” He wiped a crumb from the corner of his mouth, furtively glancing over your figure. You thought for a hot minute, “Hm, what was your childhood like? What are your parents like?”
Jungkook set his plastic fork down in the styrofoam box and folded his hands in his lap. “Well, I had a pretty normal childhood, though I started pursuing music early, so a lot of it was very busy. My mom is very kind, she’s always been very supportive of my career. My dad worked quite a bit when I was younger, but he’s always been proud of everything I’ve accomplished. I think they’d really like you if they met you; they always wanted me to find someone like you.” He smiled faintly, reaching over and resting his hand over yours.
“I think I’d like to meet them someday, they sound like nice people. If they’re anything like you, I think we’d be able to get along well.” You finished up the last of your food, and closed the lid.
“I forgot to mention it, but that was awesome how you stood up for me at the restaurant. I really wish all of our fans could just get along sometimes. I feel bad they tried to insult you like that.” He sighed, brushing his thumb over your mark. “Trust me, I’ve seen millions of fan wars happen. It actually felt great to put those assholes in their place.” You chuckled, an amused gleam in your eyes when you remembered how triggered[a] those rude girls got.
“It was pretty badass, but I assume that just comes naturally to you, doesn’t it?” He winked, and upon looking over towards him, you jokingly punched his shoulder, “Shut up.” He smirked at how easily flustered you got, finding it cute.
He managed to catch your eyes, which he got lost in. You noticed him slowly lean in and your heart went immediately into overdrive, having a pretty damn good idea of what he was about to do. His nose daintily brushed against yours and he paused. His eyes were hooded as he glanced at your lips with uncertainty. He murmured, “Do you think we’re moving too fast?” He pulled back an inch and glanced into your eyes once again, looking for an answer somewhere in your pupils.
You paused, your voice feeling choked up in your throat with the answer imprisoned just underneath it. It finally broke free and you spoke, “I want to kiss you; I’d love absolutely nothing more than to kiss you,” You leaned forward again, but like the repelling powers of two opposite ended magnets, you were stopped just before the tip of your nose could bump his, “But.. I don’t know if this is the time either.” You cupped his jaw tenderly, distancing yourself from him.
He nodded and gently bit his lip. “I’ll make you a deal,” he raised an eyebrow at your proposal, “you take me out next time, and I’ll kiss you.” You dragged your hand away from his jaw and kissed your palm, the faint tint of your lipstick tinting your marking. You offered him your hand; he repeated your actions on his own mark and shook your hand, grinning.
“You’ve got yourself a deal.”
