Ray Bolger (The Wizard of Oz)- i would be untrue to an insufferable part of me if i did not admit that the scarecrow does, in some awful horrendous fashion, do it for me
Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)- I need to make a claim here for the DILF rights of Dick Van Dyke (great name) as Caractacus Potts (another great name). Hot inventor who actually makes a magic flying car and lives in a windmill. The stuff dreams are made of.

I have 2 theories on how Ozzie and Fizz met.
Most of the fandom agrees Fizz worked for Mammon and then met Ozzie afterward. Because it makes the most logical sense. Plus Fizz's "I have you thanks to Mammon" quote.
But here are my 2 main issues with that:
1. Fizzarolli's main outfit
His outfit is clearly meant to match with Ozzie. From the same colors to the hearts.
2. Fizzarolli's limbs
Ozzie maintains Fizz's prosthetics. Fizz established that back in "Ozzie's". Which makes sense, considering Ozzie owns a factory that even Mammon needs to use. Ozzie is a mechanic, an inventor.
So, with that being said...
What does Fizz look like when he wins the clown pageant and starts to work for Mammon? Not "pre-explosion Fizz." But "Ozzie's Fizz."
And, sure, I'm not saying it's impossible that Fizz had the matching colors and heart aesthetic before meeting Asmodeus. Or that someone else made his prosthetics, and Ozzie maintained the same design and function. But it certainly feels convenient.
So here are my 2 theories:
Theory #1: The accident happens. Since Fizz was already popular, he is sent to Ozzie to get his top-notch prosthetics. This still works in canon because Fizz always dreamed of working with Mammon. Meeting Ozzie first wouldn't change that. If anything, it would deepen those insecurities so that he could feel worthy enough to stay with Oz. Even furthering it if Ozzie and Fizz didn't enter a romantic relationship until Fizz started working for Mammon. Also, it gives a deeper insight to some Ozzie's comments. If he knew Fizz before Mammon began to abuse and manipulate him, he would have the full picture and truly see the damage Mammon did.
Theory #2: Arguably the most popular but helps me ease the issues I had. Fizz wins the pageant due to his already semi-celebrity status and talent. Mammon introduces Asmodeus to Fizzarolli when he commissions the dolls. Ozzie falls in love and gives Fizz an upgraded wardrobe and limbs. Then, Mammon's "Fizzy commercial" releases some time later. All the dolls needed time to be produced anyway. Giving them time to get to know each other as Ozzie incorporated Fizz's personality into the robots. Fizz soon becomes "Ozzie's business partner" after his celebrity status hits the roof.
I love the breadcrumbs we've been getting, and I'm really eager to see more of their backstory. 👍Obviously theory#2 makes the most sense, but I like to have an open mind!

Das Leben der Hochgräfin Gritta von Rattenzuhausbeiuns
My favourite book in elementary school (and I still like it today)
In my last book post I wrote that I first heard of Anne of Green Gables when the girl who bullied me in elementary school presented it as her favourite book. So I thought I might show you the book I held my presentation about.
Das Leben der Hochgräfin Gritta von Rattenzuhausbeiuns (The Life of Gritta, High Countess of Ratsareathomewithus) is a fairy-tale-novel by Gisela von Arnim. It was written in the 1840s but only rediscovered and published in the 20th century. It was adapted as a screenplay and simplified children's book by GDR author Christa Kożik. This was the version I read aged eight and loved to pieces. I also saw the film once, but I didn't love it as much as the book. It has some very good songs, I remember.
The story is about Gritta, a girl countess who lives with her father, an inventor, at their run-down castle some time in the 18th century. She loves to read and she's friends with the Queen of the rats which populate the castle in abundance. One day a runaway spoiled noblewoman takes refuge with them and Gritta's father falls head over heels in love with her. They marry and Gritta is sent to a horrid convent school. There she discovers a plot: Young girls are sent to the convent. Once they're there, the nuns find ways to grab their inheritance and keep the girls locked away. This was the fate her stepmother ran away from. Together with ten of her friends Gritta escapes from the convent.
Here the two versions take slightly different paths. In the modern one, the girls live at an abandoned farm for one summer until they return to their homes. Gritta proceeds to the capital city, where she finds her family again. They've lost their remaining money and have gone to sell an invention to the king: A catapult throne that will save him in case of revolution. A twist that you rarely meet and I really loved: Poverty and the birth of a son have turned Gritta's spoiled stepmother into quite a responsible and likeable person and she apologizes for her behaviour. Gritta had already met the king's son while she was on the run. He smuggles her into the palace of his naive and gluttonous father. There she reveals to him the doings of the corrupt royal advisor, who is also at the bottom of the convent's plot.
While this was a quick summary of the simplified version, the original runs absolutely wild. After the girls escape the convent, they go on an adventurous journey, which becomes increasingly fantastical. Some episodes seem prototypical of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. Finally they get shipwrecked and build up a new life. But their "lonely island" is in fact a valley near the capital. Here the story in which Gritta reunites with her family and saves the kingdom comes back in. In the end the girls set up an alternative convent according to their own rules. Except for Gritta, who in this version actually marries the prince and refurbishes the kingdom, but of course stays their friend.
I think if I'd read this as a child I would have loved that the focus stays on Gritta's girl-gang. They have so many more adventures here. I always thought the modernized story dismissed them too quickly. Not sure what I would have made of the fanciful nature of their adventures. One of my favourite characters today is Wildebeere (Wildberry), one of the girls, who starts out as a botanist, but is later adopted by wood-elves and becomes a sort of forest spirit. And I'd certainly have struggled with the over-the-top 19th century language. Though that makes up the poetry of it.
I've kinda outgrown the modernized version today. As a historian I can't help noticing the GDR mindframe. Indeed the original was written before the 1848 revolution and pokes some acid fun at absolutist monarchy, aristocracy and the church. That's the most likely reason it wasn't published. But the adaptation presents the messages rather bluntly - to children who don't have the foggiest idea what were the problems in 1848.
On a related note, I feel today that the modern book made Gritta a bit too sassy. She's much more gentle in the old one and as so often this clashes in scenes where she's supposed to be insecure. Some scenes actually get funnier with her acting all demure, like the one where she locks the king in a cupboard. Also, I'm all for the concept of becoming an independent spirit through reading. But as a book-historian I can tell that you don't become a cheeky kid by reading a library full of 18th-century books.
What also fascinates me today is the story how Gritta was rediscovered in the archives in the 20th century. The manuscript had been scattered over several bequests and wrongly attributed to Gisela's famous mother Bettine von Arnim. I kinda envy the guy who pieced it together. But I should be content with my lot, because that's exactly the sort of thing I'm doing in my PhD project right now.
Actually this book relates to the McCarrics in two very peculiar ways: For one thing, Gisela von Arnim was the great-granddaughter of Sophie von la Roche, after whom I named Marianne's family.
Then, according to my mother, my first two stories ever were two endless nonsensical serials I always updated her on, aged around three. The first was called The Lady of the Rats' Castle. Sadly I don't remember anything about it and my mother says it didn't have any rememberable plot. Possibly she bought me Gritta because of it.
The other was called The very Elegant Scottish Girl. I remember I started this one because I loved my red tartan skirt and my father had told me that in Scotland everyone is always dressed in tartan, even the men! So I thought this country must be the epicentre of nobility and elegance. I just love that these two titles still reflect my literary activities to the present day.

in a hypothetical toh/Peter pan au (bc the parallels are interesting to explore) The Collector is probably the closest equivalent to Peter (eternal child who's repressed all their troubles in the name of Fun and Whimsy and has an ambivalent approach to morality) (though keep in mind I'm not a scholar and it's been a while since I last interacted with a pan adaptation. You're the more knowledgeable one here feel free to correct me)
And then Wendy's closest equivalent as the viewpoint character who learns the main lesson about growing up and moving on and while not losing the part of yourself that made childhood seem so wonderful would probably have to be Luz (though obviously if we're going for this lineup then the peter/Wendy dynamic would have to be decidedly not romantic. Probably lean more into the "mother" thing from the book or Luz and Collie's like. Babysitter and baby dynamic)
Though again I'm very interested in what you, Lollytea, local Peter Pan scholar and toh enthusiast has to say and whether or not I'm off the mark on these ideas. P.S I feel very seen w/ u obsessing about an early 1900s western children's Isekai (/j) bc I did the exact same thing w/ the wizard of oz.
Okay okay okay okay okay okay this is a huntlow AU for my little huntlow brain but I decided to develop the universe a little and give some info on where all the main characters currently are and what they're doing.
Yes absolutely the Collector is this universe's version of Peter. The island adores them for mysterious reasons and their mood and temperment has complete control over the elements. All his whims and dreams and fantasies become a reality here so the place is very chaotic. I'm imagining that the island has the same starry sparkly aesthetic as the BL in S3.
The Collector is heaps of fun and the Lost Boys love hanging out with him and going on adventures. However....he's also prone to tantrums and his tantrums can have devastating consequences so.....none of them are really his true friends either. They're afraid of him, they tiptoe around him, they try to keep him happy.
His only real friend is King, a Neverbeast whose species is as ancient as the Island itself. King has a depthless cavern of power that he just....hasn't really developed yet. He might be a few centuries old but he ages similarly to the Collector. Just a pair of babies. Boys will be boys.
Luz is the most recent Lost Boy in a whole village of Lost Boys. You know how they had that epic village in Hook (1991) Yeah that shit was so cool, I'm giving them one of those. Anyway Luz's reasons for taking the Collector's offer are very similar to her reasons for choosing to stay in the BL. Fantasy as a form of escapism, struggling with the conventional education system and also grief and her mom trying to get her help that she doesn't want. It lands her here.
Amity is a girl who used to be frequently visited by a fairy named Willow when they were both little kids. However, Willow's friendship influenced Amity's overzealous imagination. She was drawing pictures of and writing about fairies and the stories her friend told her about Neverland and this got her in trouble with her parents. Cracking under the threat of more severe punishment, Amity got into a huge fight with Willow, ending in her declaring "I don't believe in fairies!" before slamming her window shut. This is the most cutting thing you could possibly say to a fairy.
Now, years later, Amity is residing in the world she tried so hard to forget about all those years ago. You see, she was at the age where her parents were preparing to send her off to finishing school and were having discussions about future arranged marriages. But Amity is not ready for that just yet. She wants to be a teacher!! She wants to be an inventor!!! So she runs away to Neverland where she can live out her dreams for a while until she's ready to return home.
She's currently running a "school" for the Lost Boys and is affectionately referred to as "Miss Amity", while also tinkering in her spare time. She feels very comforted by the order and control she has over her life now.
It's Luz's arrival that throws it all into disarray. Luz doesn't agree with Amity's style of teaching and though she doesn't deliberately try to interfere, a lot of Lost Boys do end up gravitating towards her, preferring her strange anecdotes and insane hyperfixation infodumps to Amity's lessons. This ends up putting the two of them at odds.
Gus is a Lost Boy....with a gift!!! The Collector was initially drawn to Gus because of their fascination with his primative human "Magic" tricks. Cards, coins behind the ear, cute silly stuff like that. He chose to go to Neverland because the stress of his Dad's high expectations was getting to him and he wanted a bit of a break (a case of miscommunication between father and son).
However, after being spirited away, Gus became Neverland's official Magician, knighted by the Collector himself. And by that I mean the Collector went "Haha I like you. I wonder what you could do if you had real magic!" and then proceeded to snap their fingers and gave Gus powers beyond his comprehension. Like waaaaay too much power. Gus is currently struggling to control his new magic and it tends to come out in uncontrollable bursts and its actually more of a curse than a gift. But he's pretty optimistic about his ability to eventually master it. And also the Collector refuses to change him back so....[shrug]
Willow and Gus? Besties. They're kinda like Peter and Tink in that Willow's favourite place to chill is atop Gus' shoulder or in his pocket.
She does not tell Gus about her secret romantic rendezvous with a certain pirate because that pirate tried to kidnap her once and Gus is very protective of his best friend.
Eda is.....a lot.
Okay. Originally a rebellious but insanely intelligent human girl, Eda and her sister were preparing to take on the world together. They were both aiming to attend the same university on a scholarship, but due to circumstances, the opportunity was only available to one of them. Eda's sister Lilith, panicking about all her dreams being ruined, wound up doing something she'd regret.
She snitched. She told a representative of their dream school of one of the delinquent acts Eda committed. Things quickly got out of hand. One person told another, things getting warped and exaggerated and other people who knew Eda personally began chiming in with their opinions of her. Some things were true. Others were not. But the most hurtful thing is that everybody was willing to believe all of it, because that just seemed to be the person Eda was. All of a sudden, it felt like the whole world had turned on her.
Life became very difficult Eda, she felt isolated and detested. She felt like a monster. This resulted in her running away to Neverland, but she carried her outcast feelings with her. She continued to stew in her own self loathing but that had terrible consequences.
Neverland is unpredictable. Its wishy washy. Its very attuned to imagination and dreams. Because Eda felt so strongly about being a monster, she gradually became a monster.
The Owl Beast is like the Crocodile to Belos' Captain Hook. She sees him as a reflection of the way she was treated back home, while he views her as everything vile and disturbing about this wretched island. Plus when he looks in her eyes, she reminds him of somebody he used to know. Somebody he hates with his whole heart and soul. He needs her dead. She needs him dead.
A huge part of Luz's goal in this AU is uncovering the mystery of the Owl Beast and eventually bonding with her and maybe even helping her return to her human form.
Anyway so yeah thats what's poppin on the island if anybody was interested. We can have our fun with this stuff, incorporate it however we want. I'm very focused on huntlow being silly tho. It's fun to me.

RWBY kill count
Soooo we all know a lot of people have died over the span of the series. So i took it upon myself to count them up. All of them. Yes, the nameless grunts and dead bodies in the background. Yes, the ones that no way in hell would survive something like what happened to them. Every single death in this series.
This originally was a doc, but tumblr doesn't allow those, so i'll put all the research under the cut. And it's long, so buckle up.
Rules:
1. Dead person has to be shown on screen (off-screen deaths counted in rare circumstances - heard them, heard about them and details of their death enough to count). En-mass kills are counted up depending on previous scenes of this group and logic. I only count what i see and can logically assume from what's on screen and told by dialog.
2. Aura exists, so most fighters are assumed to survive unless the person doesn’t have active aura or there’s no way in hell someone survives that.
3. Salem «deaths» will be counted, but with an asterisk*, since immortal. Same for Ozes, we see an Oz - we count him, since we know all of them are dead by nature of reincarnation - an exception to «death off screen» rule.

Fire is a different colour in every ring. Lust has blue fire and Oz is inventor that made the bots with M.ammon.
It has it's own sigil. I only see the 7 sins having sigils in this series and,,,V.ox. He's like a little experiment to create something similar to Mam and Oz to cover for some of their work load (the boring bits like with numbers, marketing, etc. Something that can take care of itself and uses v.oxs crafted sigil to summon it as they need).
It can have doubles of himself. One could argue it's edits. But i'm delusional and think that it has backups made just in case it's current body is ever damaged beyond repair. Also good for multi tasking.

Fancasting Harvey Dent (The Batman 2)
There’s been rumors that the latest casting choices for Harvey Dent, DA of Gotham and future villain ‘Two-Face’, set to appear in “The Batman 2″ has been Josh Hartnett and Joel Edgerton. Both of them are splendid actors, physically impressive, and could do the part justice for sure. Quite a few people are disappointed that they didn’t go for a younger, less known actor, or maybe strike out with someone more unique. Perhaps even going for gender-swapped like they did in “Batman: Earth One”.
I just think that there is a better actor for the role, especially in a ‘Battinson’, Reeves-set Batverse. Specifically, Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
Best known for his work in “Haunting of Hill House” and “Haunting of Bly Manor”, he’s been in all sorts of works across a variety of genres. He’s been a corrupt knight in the “World Without End” miniseries, he’s been a particularly strange take on the Scarecrow in the reimaging of Oz in “Emerald City”, and he’s been a twisted abusive ex-boyfriend / mad inventor in “The Invisible Man”.
So, goes without saying, he’s got range. And that’s important for Harvey Dent. He needs to believably alternate between upstanding moral guardian, traumatized victim barely coping with his fragile psychological state, the no-nonsense, cutthroat politician and crafty lawyer, and even a complete monster that puts gangsters and hardened criminals to shame.
What else does he bring to the table though, that other actors suggested for the role haven’t? Fan-favorite and current darling Oscar Isaac has been proven to crush it with playing psychologically damaged characters, “Moon Knight” is testament to that. But that’s a Marvel property and crossing the streams too much can break the already fragile emersion. And John David Washington is fresh-off numerous successes with “BlackKklansman” and “Tenet”, and a black Harvey Dent isn’t unheard of (we forever were robbed of Dee Williams’ chance to portray Two-Face in the Burton films).
Great actors, just as Hartnett and Edgerton are, so apart from a history of very psychologically mature and empathetic performances, what does Oliver Jackson-Cohen bring to the table? Well, he’s the right age at 36, currently closest in age to Robert Pattinson, believable enough to be an especially young and ambitious DA (not a stretch at all when Jayme Lawson, the actress who played Bella Real in “The Batman”, was in her early twenties and running for mayor of Gotham). Also, it’s always favorable when Harvey Dent is a peer to Bruce Wayne, even friendly, rather than rivals or opponents immediately. Part of the draw of Two-Face isn’t just that he’s a well-connected and ruthless crime-figure, but that he’s psychologically tormenting Batman by being one of the victims he couldn’t save, which hurts all the more when they had a close working-relationship, even friendship.
But also, he’s 6′3. I know that sounds like a miniscule quibble, the camera trickery can make anyone as tall as need be for a part and height alone hardly makes for a successful action scene, but in this case, I’d argue it’s a necessary part to not just Harvey Dent’s natural charisma, but Two-Face’s successful menace. Consider this: Harvey Dent, as Two-Face, stripped of all the fancy dual-toned suits and Tommy-guns, is a burn victim with a law-degree. No superpowers, no other specialty skills or training, just a maimed man who would most definitely be disbarred as soon as he turns to criminality. So how can he be such a longstanding and formidable threat to the Batman?
Slapping a gun in his hand helps, a lot, for sure. Being physically imposing is a definite plus and has been utilized in the animated Batman series and video games. Richard Moll’s gravelly voiced Two-Face in “Batman: The Animated Series” was drawn not dissimilarly from the mobsters he aimed to put away. This was repeated with Travis Willingham’s Harvey Dent in the Telltale games, who was built much like his 6′4 voice actor and capable of beating a man to death with his bare hands when cornered... and even Josh Duhamel’s Harvey Dent in “Batman: The Long Halloween” was snapping the necks of Mafia goons.
Furthermore, in comics like “Batman: Year One”, Harvey’s longstanding attempts to put away Carmine Falcone as well as his physical build both put him in the investigative crosshairs of the GCPD, with Gordon briefly suspecting him of being the Batman. And one of the most satisfying moments in “Dark Victory” was Two-Face physically beating the Joker for daring to pull a gun on him.
So yes, the added bonus of a Two-Face actor who could pose a genuine threat to Batman in his armor with all his training, however briefly, is warranted.
Between the right age, height, and past roles, Oliver Jackson-Cohen seems tailormade to play Harvey Dent. His part in “Haunting of Hill House” showcased his talent in portraying a vulnerable, broken, traumatized young man as well as a pretty flawless American accent. His part in “The Invisible Man” had him completely different, giving off an aura of palpable, oppressive malevolence and manipulative smugness that filled what few scenes he was in. And even his cheesy role as an eccentric hitman in the 2010 film “Faster” showed off a believable familiarity with firearms.
My choice for Harvey Dent / Two-Face, especially in “The Batman” universe. Everyone else, let me know what you think, and any other fancastings you’d like to hear about.

Iris arrives at the remains of the old Kent farm in Kansas where, five years ago, the Kent family and the author - and conman - HR Wells disappeared when a tornado tore through the farm. She's supposed to be fact gathering for a follow up story - the Kent family isn't exactly a big deal outside of Smallville, but HR Wells had been part of a rather big scandal at STAR Labs. One that had caught the whole nation's attention. Of course, five years later it's barely going to be an interest piece, but Iris is curious to find out what really happened anyway.
No one ever found the bodies. If Iris can, then she can give the Kents' friends and family closure. She can give Randolf Morgan his friend to bury. She can close the book on what really happened when the tornado destroyed the farm.
Of course, a storm comes out of nowhere while Iris is investigating the farm and she takes shelter in the half-destroyed barn. Which does nothing to protect her. The rest of the barn is ripped away, but the room Iris is in stays intact as it glides up into the tornado and... far away.
When Iris wakes up and leaves her little shelter, she finds herself in a land unlike anything she's ever seen before. But some things stay the same. She's on a farm. Run by the Kent family. A very alive Kent family.
Martha and Jonathon Kent are very nice, but Iris quickly realizes their son Clark is still missing. Taken by the Wicked Warlock, they tell her. Just a little over a year ago, when the fighting in North OZ got too close to their little midland farm. HR Wells had gone to try and find the kid, but had lost the trail somewhere around the capital city. He was still looking, according to his latest letter anyway. But he'd gotten tied up in some political problem that he was certain was related to Clark's abduction. The Kents would've gone themselves, but between Jonathon's bad heart and Martha's difficulty walking... better they stay at the farm with the Munchkins in the nearby town looking after them.
Iris has no idea if this is a weird dream or really real - yet - but she ventures into town to learn more about this Wicked Warlock fellow and the fighting in North OZ. There she gets an earful about the Wicked Warlock of the West - in rhyme, which quickly loses novelty - and how the Evil Eobard Thawne is trying to take over the North, protected by the Good Witch Caitlin. And the equally evil Warlock of the East, Hunter Zolomon, has been threatening the southern and middle countries (fighting hasn't broken out in earnest yet), though the Good Witch of the South - Frost - has been keeping them safe for now. Though word is Frost hasn't been seen in a few weeks.
After thinking things over, Iris starts heading North along the Old Yellow Road, which leads to the capitol city. Along the way she finds a political exile - a zipperhead (yup, taking influence from the Tin Man mini-series here) - calling himself Barry. He can't remember much more than his name given that his brain was stolen by the Warlock of the West, but he's certain he was a good person and definitely not a criminal before his brain got taken away. Iris needs a guide so she gives him the benefit of the doubt.
Then Iris and Barry find an old iron maiden type device - a cryochamber, according to Barry (who briefly remembers he used to work as an inventor before forgetting again) - and release the man inside. Eddie Thawne, a Tin Man (lawman, of course, more mini-series influence) who'd attempted to arrest his own cousin, Eobard, before he ascended to being the Warlock of the West. He failed, of course, and Eobard thought it'd be funny to torment him for the rest of forever by leaving him in the cryochamber, able to watch the world but not ever be a part of it. He joins Barry and Iris and they head for what should be a shortcut through an old orchard.
Except the orchard is dead, it's former keepers are hungry, and they accidentally save a seer on the run from the West. Cisco escaped the castle and has no intention of ever going back. Or ever having visions again.
The four make for an odd group, but they head to Central City - the capital city, of course - together. The old Emerald City on the hill... where they learn an old tradition's been re-instated by the new Mayor. Everyone in the city must wear green sunglasses, tinting the whole place a lovely Emerald. A moral booster, thought up by Mayor HR Wells.
Iris manages to get an audience with the Mayor by name dropping the Kents and he explains the situation as he knows it. Eobard got his hands on some ancient magicks and kidnapped Clark because he's got super powers, being the last survivor of Krypton. Iris revisits the 'am i dreaming' question at learning now there's magic and aliens going on. Eobard was using magic to control Clark, making him Eobard's enforcer but the magic grew weak in the rain. HR thinks that getting the kid soaked would give him a chance to break free but they'd yet to successfully pull off the equivalent of dumping a cooler of water on the teen yet.
Eddie is determined to take out Eobard and Barry's now dedicated to helping Eddie (it's Iris/Barry/Eddie/Cisco for the ship, give Iris all the cute boys) and Iris decides to go with them. Cisco is terrified but he cares about the other three too much by now and agrees to guide them to Eobard Thawne's lair.
It eventually turns out that the water thing is actually Eobard's weakness and he melts. Barry observes that it's a side effect of the artifact Eobard was using to artificially expand his powers. Iris just kind of stands there holding the bucket, staring at the goo that used to be a person, and wonders if mis-aiming a bucket of water counts as a self-defense murder.
Clark goes home and Iris takes her little group back to Central where HR introduces them to Caitlin. Her ex-husband Ronnie (amicably divorced) is going to take over as the Warlock - non-evil - for the Western region since he's part of a group known as FIRESTORM. They'd been fighting Eobard's forces, unable to break through the line (or sneak through, like Iris's little group had) until Eobard's death caused a number of mind controlled servants to come back to their senses.
Big party because ding-dong the evil Warlock #1 is dead. Sure, there's Hunter Zolomon and Caitlin's worried about her sister Frost, but there's half the OZ's biggest problems fixed. Barry's brain is located and re-installed, though he'll always be a bit absent minded. And probably late.
They head back to the Kent farm to check on things there only to learn that fighting has broken out in the South after all. And by fighting, they mean Zolomon has been razing towns for the fun of it. To the East it is. The polycule's got another evil warlock to off.
And by that point? They are absolutely a polycule. Barry and Cisco are cuddlers so having lots of people to cuddle at night? They are both thrilled. And while Iris started off wanting a way home, she's decided she is home now that she's got Eddie, Barry, and Cisco.

American Girl Christmas Movies
I've been thinking about Christmas movies, and which ones each of my dolls would like (this assumes each of them has her canon personality, but the historical dolls obviously having an anachronistic knowledge of television). So here's what I think each of their favourite Christmas movies would be:
Samantha Parkington: Mrs. Santa Claus (1996)

Starring Angela Lansbury as the titular character, this lesser-known TV movie tells the story of Santa's wife tiring of being ignored and venturing out into the world, and winding up stranded in 1910 New York City the week before Christmas.
This movie would really speak to Sam for multiple reasons. For one, of course, it's set right near her time period, and I also think she'd relate strongly to the feminist themes. One of the major storylines involves a factory whose child workers strike for better working conditions, and another involves the suffragette movement, both of which are issues that feature heavily in Samantha's stories. Also, one of the main characters is a young Irish immigrant who reminds me a lot of Nellie.
I think she'd also really like A Christmas Carol (1951), which is arguably the most faithful retelling of the Dickens story (I've decided one of her favourite books is Christmas Carol, because it fits with her personal values very well... aaand maybe because it's my favourite book, haha).
Makena Williams: Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)

Set in a fantastical world where science is magic, robots are powered by Belief, and the Square Root of Possible can be expressed in a mathematical formula, Netflix's Jingle Jangle is about brilliant toy inventor Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker), who falls into despair after his trusted assistant Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key) steals all his blueprints and uses them for his own ends. Years later, Jeronicus' granddaughter Journey (the stellar young Madalen Mills) tries to restore his faith with her cleverness and optimism.
I think one of main reasons this movie would appeal to Makena is that it's all about celebrating Black excellence and Black joy; there's a lot of representation in the cast, without focusing on racism and suffering. She'd also really love the costumes, which are a gorgeous mix of traditional African colours/patterns and Victorian-era styles; all the thought, detail, and talent that went into the costuming would inspire her fashionista heart.
Evette Peeters: The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (1985)

This stop-motion TV special, based on the book by L. Frank Baum (the author of The Wizard of Oz), was created by Rankin/Bass, the same team that made the famous Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman specials we all grew up watching. It's a unique take on the legend of Santa Claus where an abandoned baby is found by a kindly Wood Nymph and raised among the fairies. As Claus grows up, he moves to the human world and, dismayed by the suffering he sees there, he begins making toys for nearby children, hoping to bring light and joy to them, and ends up at odds with the Awgwas, evil creatures that influence children to do bad things.
I only just got Evette, and she's not even out with the rest of my girls right now, since I'm saving that as a Christmas surprise for Makena, but I feel this one pretty strongly. For one, I think the cottagecore/forest visual themes would really appeal to her. Also, I headcanon Evette as pagan, and one of my pagan friends once told me they loved this movie because it was the only Christmas movie that dealt with the world of the Fae in a way that aligned with their beliefs.
The only one I'm not sure of is Josefina. Someone suggested Christmas on Mistletoe Farm (2022) for her; we watched it together, and she enjoyed it, but I’m not sure it’s her favourite. Any other suggestions?

EACH MEMBER OF THE QUARTET HAS A SPECIFIC ROLE; to make a well-oiled anarchist machine, each gear has its own place and role to play.
RASCAL IS THE FIGUREHEAD: she's the face of the organization, a young and overzealous BEACON OF HOPE who can lead thanks to her enthusiasm and CHARISMA. many fell under rascal's genuine charms, and such will still happen. SHE'S THE FRONT-LINE ATTACKER, because being a leader means being ready to take a beating first.
titled the archanist, MARBLE IS THE INVENTOR AND THE PLANNER. a strategist, her titles comes from the fact that while she's not a good fighter, her multitudes of SELF-MADE WEAPONS AND TRINKETS as well as her surprisingly CUNNING ATTITUDE make her someone to not overestimate too quickly. she often uses a multitude of tasers in fights.
AL IS NO FIGHTER, but even then he has his role to play. he's pretty much the one that KEEPS THE BAND TOGETHER. he's a MOOD LIFTER and BUFFS THE PARTY with his positivity, energy, chill personality and POWERFUL LYRICS. because of it, people OPEN UP EASILY TO HIM, which makes him someone VERY WELL INFORMED. in the case they need to get information out of somebody, al will be the one to provide it. if they need to make a deal, al will generally be present to GREASE THE GEARS.
as for oz, HE'S THE PROTECTOR. as such, he's the first shield and line of defense; once rascal is down, oz will take her place as front-line attacker, or will assist her in assaults. him being a protector also means he often ACTS IN THEIR SHADOWS, and willingly does the group's DIRTY WORK without them knowing so. SOMETIMES, THIS MEANS GOING BEHIND THE GROUP'S VALUES. but it's a sacrifice he's willing to make.
