Well first off, in the fantasy world within my head, he's not dead 😭 If I ever write my Skyrim fic featuring the College of Winterhold, I will include my hc, which is that he's the only son of Fathis Aren, a court wizard from Bravil, and Bothiel, the woman who runs the orrery at the Arcane University. Fathis offers conjuration training in Oblivion so I like to think Savos learned magic, especially conjuration, at a very young age, and honestly saw a bit too much too soon (Fathis is ex-Telvanni and it comes with the territory, but that's another hc of mine lol). He grew up primarily in the Imperial City but travelled a lot with his father on work trips. He was taught both dunmeris and bosmeris, is better at the former due to more time spent in Morrowind speaking the language, but he's never been able to shake his accent. I think he had a very happy childhood full of adventure and excelled in his practices as a young lad. Magical theory and maths come naturally to him and prior to University, he never had to try. It left him with a pretty crap work ethic, so in his first year, he got his ass handed to him on all his exams, which gave him a mini identity crisis when he realized he actually had to study like everyone else XD
