not to keep talking about this but if greta decides to take the religious aspects out of her narnia reboot or whatever then there's really no point in even making it. christianity runs so deep in everything related to narnia that taking it out would cause the whole story to fall apart, it would just be another hollow remake and if that's the route she's gonna go (which she most likely will) then i'll just stick to the disney movie and reading the books.

The argument that "well of course they had to include all those important crow moments even if they don't make sense, they need to drum up excitement for season 3!!!" is genuinely so funny to me. Like, 'they had to make the story bad so they could make more of it!' you're so close bestie

Ohhh Ms Duane, I have a question for the author! 🙋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am immeasurably curious about this interaction - it sounds like Bones is asking if Spock can feel Kirk's thoughts? Had the idea of them having a t'hy'la/mental bond been floating around already, or was there other inspiration you found for this little bit?
(Ps, I'm loving how bones and spock interact in Doctors Orders, it feels so organic!)

Men want it. The control it promises.... The mastery.... The command. Like dragons hoarding jewels, all who touch the Collar crave to possess it.... Because they crave to possess him.

I have a new gripe about Snape. Remus says that “Sectumsempra was always a specialty of Snape’s” and this info couldn’t be based on the First War, as they didn’t know Snape was a Death Eater back then and this means they wouldn’t have physically seen him fighting so anyone else using that spell could have theoretically been another Death Eater who’d learned the spell. So, the options for Snape having this as a specialty are this was wanted in the time frame between Dumbledore dying and the battle of the Seven Potters* or this occurred back in school, which is supported by Remus saying it’s always been a specialty. I think it’s the latter, in which case, Snape was just casually attacking other students with this spell. We also know that limbs removed with this spell cannot be grown back, considering George’s ear, so there’s possibly several students who permanent lost limbs thanks to Snape, unless it’s a different case for reattaching limbs than growing them back since they did not have George’s ear with them. This adds a new layer of clarity for why Snape dismisses whatever Avery and Mulciber did as just a joke, while Lily considers it evil, because he might have been doing the same kind of thing as those two.
*which is unrealistic bc Dumbledore died around June 30, given that on July 31 the trio is told that the “31 days” the Ministry can maintain Dumbledore’s will are up and the 7 Potters happens shortly before they’re told this. A month isn’t long enough to earn a specialty, especially not when it’s said Snape “always” had that.
Yeah I just kind of assumed that when Remus said that, he was referring to school. Because didn't Snape invent the spell as a student and write it down in that potions book of his??? It's definitely odd to think that he's just out there casually attacking students with it, but on the other hand a fucking basilisk lives in that school, so there are definitely weirder things happening there.
I don't know. Books 6 and 7 aren't canon because of Remus's baffling relationship with Tonks, so I don't remember much from them.

Okay so here Lilith talks about how she’s trying to calculate the location of the time pools, right? But it’s implied that The Boiling Isles shifted to the empirical system (obvi a pun on imperial) sometime within recent history.
The only event that I can think of that might’ve led to this change is Belos’s rise to power, as he’s the only person in TBI who even knows what a “foot” is. So what I’m kinda getting is that one of the first things Belos did when he became emperor was just. Force everyone to use the imperial system. Which is fucking hilarious to me can u imagine being a witch in 1970 and suddenly this guy with a weird mask makes it illegal to do wild magic and also you have to start using inches. I’d be so confused.
He probably did it just bc he’s lazy too. Bro got sick of trying to figure out what the fuck ppl were talking abt and proceeded to overhaul the entire mathematical system. This is a piece of underrated foreshadowing why haven’t I seen a single person talk abt this???

thinking about how good steve is at taking care of you... he's so quick to figure out just what you need to feel better, and he loves babying you, pampering you, wrapping you up in his strong arms and caring for you and kissing you until you feel better. he loves the way you need him, looking to him to make descisions when you're just too tired, leaning into his touch when exhaustion sets in. after he drags you into a shower and washes and conditions your hair and rubs some nice smelling lotion into your skin, he pulls out your skin care products, knowing the exact ordrer of the steps and the right amounts to use, you don't even have to remind him. he carries you to bed, bundling you into his chest while soft music or a tv show plays in the background. laying on his soft hairy chest feels like being put on a wireless charger at 5% battery, the warmth from his skin slowly bringing you back to life. your stevie takes such good care of you, and no matter how you're doing, you always feel better when you're around him.

Apollodorus' Library/the Bibliotheke + Timothy Gantz's Early Greek Myth is SUCH a good combination for info about Greek mythology.
One is an ancient source, from later in antiquity but with a mix of old and newer versions of myth. It's also a myth compendium sort of thing (and there is an attempt at making it a single, "coherent" timeline, but how internally consistent that is is another matter lol).
The second is a modern academic book but eminently readable and focused on earlier versions (Archaic to Classical, thereabouts), but he also cites later sources if it's relevant. It's laid out in a systematic way and is real easy to use, and contains so many fun little details/bits of information that gets easily lost, especially in modern retellings.

the fnaf movie novelization is ofc v different in multiple ways to the movie itself bc it's shows inner thoughts and things, and alternative versions of scenes (Aka some lines are like what the test audiences didnt like so they cut) but its also a lot funnier in certain aspects

i cannot stop watching the first hobbit movie not even in a hyperfixation way it just sets a cozy and comforting atmosphere and something about martin freeman’s bilbo baggins evokes a primal sense of calmness within me like staring at bridge over a pond of water lilies by claude monet
