Hello!! I'm a huge fan of your art and I thought I would ask about your colorwork, because it's genuinely super impressive to me how all your pieces have amazing palettes and they add so so so much to the general atmosphere. Do you have any process to pick colors for pieces? Like using picture references, gradient maps, etc or do you genuinely just eyeball them? I'm super curious :]

Thanks! I very much use references, though I don't use the color picker on them, gotta train the eye. I have an ever-expanding reference folder of photos and paintings with colors that I like so that when I start a new painting and I have an idea of the color scheme I want in mind, I'll already have some reference on hand. Good reference really makes a world of difference!

I also like to bias colors a little bit away from their standard versions:

The more blue green and the more yellow green are both more interesting to me than the "just green" green. Nothing wrong with that average green though, sometimes that's exactly what you need. It's always situational.

Lastly, a fantastic color tip for digital art specifically that I got from Mike Hernandez: Use the RGB sliders instead of the HSB color selection!

By default, Photoshop gives you the HSB (Hue, Saturation, Brightness) color picking setup which looks like this:

It's perfectly functional and has its uses, but it doesn't really feel like mixing color. On the other hand, if you use the RGB sliders:

Now you can add a little more blue if you think that's what the color needs, or you can take away red, add some green, etc. It gets you actually mixing color and thinking more about how the colors relate to each other. It can take some getting used to if you've only used the HSB setup before, but it's worth it!

You ever think about how scary an Enerjak Silver would be.

admittedly, i’ve never read archie, but from what i’ve read on his wiki, i can see enerjak is some sorta demigod-spirit that possessed a few echidnas and has practically limitless power? so yeah if silver got possessed by enerjak it would be terrifying. silver’s already powerful as he is, so if he was possessed by this being with god-level strength, psychic abilities, and reality-warping, it’d be all over. he could probably turn the planet to dust with the flick of his wrist. the universe itself would be the thing at risk, the planet would already be gone. enerjak silver would be cool as hell to see. completely undefeatable psychokinetic armoured boy? it’d look so awesome.

anyway since i’ve never read those comics so i couldn’t go too in-depth with this question due to not knowing enough about enerjak, i decided to try design enerjak silver! :]

enerjak’s armour is seemingly inspired by egyptian royalty and armour, and since silver is italian, i decided to base enerjak silver’s armour on roman soldiers! i don’t know if that ended up coming across in the finished design, but i swear the inspiration is there ehfjejfjwjf. i tried to have it so silver’s quills came out the top of his helmet like the crest that some roman soldiers’ helmets had, also i imagine the visor covering his face is moveable, so he can lift it up off his face :]

dfnjkasd ngl the other day i thought about how since i'm graduating this year and am off to fellowship (2nd fellowship) but it's a hard one my presence might wane and i might not be on at all and got kinda sad but we'll see what happens in like 2 months no need to be sad prematurely

Ahhhh you have no idea how happy I am to have come across your little corner of Tumblr! I really like your positivity for everything BotW/TotK, and loving the games as they are. I’m the same way, I just like to enjoy everything about them. It feels like all people want to do these days is dissect and criticize and find things wrong. And sure, I’ll admit they aren’t perfect. But when I play the games and write fanfic, I lose myself in the world of Hyrule and thinking about the characters I love - what they go through, how they develop, and how they react to the events they experience - just brings me so much joy! For me personally, I like for fandom to be a positive place where I can escape from the real world 😊

I remember one of my FAVORITE things about the Zelda fandom here on tumblr was the fact that we were all pretty positive! And while I do love the debate and criticisms of totk because it invigorates a lot of conversations and spurs us to delve deeper into the game, I do LOVE just simply appreciating what we do get and loving it.

The games are never perfect in every sense but I don’t expect it— I had a mini bucket list of things i wanted totk to hit on and they checked off every single thing! I love that we can take advantage of the weaker parts and explore it in a fandom setting because there are so many brilliant creators in this fandom.

So welcome to my little place of appreciation for botw/totk 🥰 specifically Zelda and zelink for this era LOL but also for the game overall!!

Not only that but there's such a variety in styles and creative designs that I find myself appreciating almost every suit I come across. There's so much creativity on display and it's genuinely so inspiring I just can't get enough of seeing them
