TSUKISHIMA KEI

looks out for you, but he can’t help that hes so emotionally constipated :’( he tries to give you advice because he genuinely is concerned for you but just is unable to word anything properly. see: “you need to stop talking to that person, you’re being a pushover,” but he just wants you to realize you’re letting people walk all over you.

god forbid he has to comfort you because hes the wrong brother for that - you’re definitely in better hands with akiteru. he might walk in on you crying and contemplate if he’ll even say anything or just ignore it flat out, or he’ll say something like “don’t cry, you look stupid.” if you cry more, he’ll end up swallowing his pride and sitting next to you. he’ll groan and reluctantly, “fine, spill it.”

other than that, he’s going to be a sneaky little prick. definitely the type to take revenge on you if you annoy him. you eat the last piece of chocolate he was saving and suddenly you find your charger hidden deep under your bed. also loves to take things without your permission. “why? i’m just using it, it’s not like you need it now.”

if someone picks a fight with you, he’ll be quick to extract you from the situation before saying something ruder and harsher than usual to the person. and if you tell him you like someone from his team, he’s going to look at you like you’re crazy. “are you insane?!” he’s honestly more bewildered than upset. doesn’t let you anywhere near the gym. he can make an exception for yamaguchi though. “at least it’s not hinata…or worse, kageyama.”

OIKAWA TOORU

your life is never boring with this guy as your brother. you’re literally being dragged everywhere, practices, shopping, team events… you’re like “i’m not even part of the team.” he goes “we can fix that!” and the next day you find out that you’re the manager for the boys’ volleyball team. huh, wonder how that happened.

oh my god, he MILKS you being his manager. “hold my drink, my fans are calling.” “y/n get my towel please.” you’re absolutely seething at the power trip that this guy is on. eventually, you start doing all that for his other team members and not for him, and he gets so whiney. “y/n you’ll get big ugly iwaizumi a towel but not your own sweet brother?!” that earns him a spike to the head from iwaizumi.

he tells you all the gossip about the school, because believe me, he knows A LOT of things. he’ll do his skin care while he forces you to listen to his gossip, cue him getting mad if you try to leave. everyone realizes why you two are siblings when you two walk down the halls and pull the exact same faces at the people he’s told you about in his gossip.

he makes you his little scapegoat for his fangirls. “oh, you want my number? you’ll have to ask y/n for that, they keep my phone with them during practice!” (you dont) “now, why don’t you girls hand all these gifts to my lovely sibling for me?” (you almost immediately chuck them at his face when you see him) but you know the best way to get back at him? when he sees you even slightly conversing with ushijima or kageyama, all hell breaks loose.

SUNA RINTAROU

the devil if the devil was your brother. he takes the ugliest pictures of you, when you’re asleep, when you’re yelling, when you’re crying over a movie. he also loves to send you pictures of animals and send a “look at you in this picture, so cute”. he also takes your things without asking and never returns it, you’ll just find it in his bag one day.

he also is one to order you around, and it drives you mad. “pass me the remote, y/n.” “but it’s nearer to you.” “i’ll tell mom that you-” // “y/n get me a drink from the vending machine.” “why would i do that” “remember when you snuck out and i-” // “get my bag too when you get yours.” “no.” “what i post that one picture of you when you’re about to sneeze-”

but he’s always looking out for you. when creeps try to approach you, he’s quick to react by shooting them a nasty glare. he’s a silent kind of care. standing behind you on elevators, walking on the outer side of the sidewalk, staying up late til you come home and just telling you he just couldnt sleep. little do you know, it��s something he’s always done even as a kid. putting more food on your lunch box, holding the corner of tables when you pick something up so you don’t hit your head, returning your things that are sprawled around the house to your room so you don’t lose them.

and if he ever finds you crying over some guy, he sighs and sits down next to you. “why’re you crying over an idiot?” he then makes snappy insults at the expense of the guy, making you laugh. “see? you look better like that. now stop crying and let me get some sleep.” he closes the light and shuts the door on his way out.

AUTHORS NOTE: omg guys I am so so sorry just got back into Sam and Colby and decided to finish this in my drafts I had like a paragraph written already. This is my first time back into writing fanfiction since a concussion i had so I’m trying my best sorry it’s so short this is a continuation of my series where y/n got possessed in the last part

“Babe” Colby called from his computer “you should come see this”

after me getting possessed I insisted on them posting the video. We were so lucky that we caught it on camera. They were hesitant at first but I said I want people to know what happened. It’s insane that I got possessed but I want people to know what really happened. It was a really scary experience. But I’m still really worried about the video. Would they say I’m just overreacting?. That it was fake and I was just a coward? But I always get some kind of nervous when they post a video with me in it. But this video was special. I still haven’t gotten to watch it yet. I had spent most of the time recovering and spending my time with Colby.

I go over to the computer and see him sitting reading comments. I sit down on his lap, even though he’s just wearing such a simple outfit sweatshirt and comfy pants he still looks hot. I look through the comments and to my surprise they are divided into basically two parts (well maybe 3 with the amount of people commenting “I don’t claim any negative energy from this video”) the first is about how scary it was when I got possessed and how bad they feel for me. The second is how people are talking about how they think me and Colby are dating and that there is so much chemistry between us. Another thing I noticed is that the video went viral. I mean stupid viral, more than most of their videos combined. It had only been out for 5 days and it already reached 50 million views!!! Mostly I think because of my possession from outside viewers who weren’t subscribed but there were plenty of fans. Some of the comments said the following:

Oh boy, fav writers and fics.. Thats a tough one since I don't often branch out of specific fandoms ( i am working on it!)

I read a lot of kingdom works. A lot of them. I have probably read every single posted kingdom smut piece there is. I started writing them bcs there wasn't enough. A lot of cravity as well, and some ateez too. Onewe and Oneus as well. But they aren't as popular so there aren't nearly as many fics as id like. Gotta write em i guess haha

But here is me shamelessly promoting my friends and mutuals.

Intenselysalmon on Ao3 is good. They're a friend of mine who made me go batshit insane over Arthur.

One thing I’ll point out is this - I know that it’s going to be so hard for them to accept the love they (will eventually) have for each other - YES. Everything’s building up to how they’re going to come into terms with their own feelings considering their past experiences, their own fears, and their own desires. This ties to your question of how will JK be that person for OC. She’s extremely guarded and has a lot of baggage as well. Ch8 will touch on how her past relationships have made her be the way she is and what she things of herself and what she could give. And so we ask again - how does that play into their relationship moving forward?

Yes to female friendships! I have amazing ones so this is something I’ll always write about! And is this another Jimin callout?? 🤭🤭

Also, I wanted so much to describe how they have this way of communicating with their gazes like, they have so much they can’t express but there’s always this hope that their eyes can say what they want but can’t. And that adds to the tension. Bc yes, I love writing MMCs being so whipped for the FMC bc we need those! Yes they could be jerks sometimes when they detach themselves and can’t be mature enough to face their feelings but the falling in love bit is so fun to write!!

HI OH MY GOD im so so so obsessed with your House MD fics on ao3, I literally can’t put it into words. every day, I reload ao3 looking for House fics, specifically Hilson. YOU LITERALLY CAPTURE THEM PERFECTLY!!! I read Mr. Magic Hands when it first was posted, then have reread it over and over and over again. I just read A Delightful Foray Into Repressed Sadism and like—can we PLEASE talk about Wilson being a sadist???? And you’re SO right- House isn’t a sadist or a masochist, but so desperate to please others (mainly Wilson) and find out all of the secret details. There’s a part of the story that I wanted to highlight.

“You delight in provoking me because you know it’s going to get you this. You want my pain. You think you deserve it.”

THIS IS LITERALLY SO?!?!!?!? oh my god. Not only is hilson smut so <3, but it also is INCREDIBLE from Wilson bc he’s right—I think House does provoke Wilson because he wants to see how far he can go. He wants that “punishment” of sorts, but he also wants to pushpushpush until he can’t anymore. (Also, House is literally a such a bratty bottom and I’m so grateful to see someone finally agree.)

And it’s not just the smut!!! You capture them so well even in fluffy writing!!! House is absolutely the type to start with pet names ironically, but then realize that he’s sickeningly obsessed. I’ve always had the thought of him calling Wilson ‘doll’, but ‘honey’ works just as well. I’m obsessed with it. Because, well, OBVIOUSLY a it’s a joke guys…. and then House is saying it and thinking it when no one is there to see it as a joke. And the last line of Honey drives me utterly insane (in the best way!!!) because Wilson calling House ‘baby’ is EVERYTHING IVE EVER NEEDED PLEASE it’s just sosososo good and I’m so grateful for you and your writing. okay so no idea how i should refer to myself as so: hi!! im the person who had way too much fun writing ai/nino toxic yuri on ao3! i was gonna just lurk (me, tumblr account with privated likes, reblogs and follows) BUT how could i with the promise of people being normal about fictional unhealthy gay women. idk if this is the optimal way to communicate i use tumblr with the sole purpose of following 4 people and digging up ai content

i am honestly so flattered (but also kinda upset at the lack of content on them aside from my own 1k word long oneshot please keep recommending if you find more stuff on them) that you enjoyed and recommended my fics considering i just straight up had no clue where i was going: okay so top priority i want them to kiss —> but also with how things are nino would probably lash out (read: bite) —> ai would be hesitant but also is so desperate that she’d still accept it happily —> this will fuel ninos idea of ai being the perfect, invincible idol —> and then i ran and tried not to trip with the rest

your translations of the side stories and blog was probably what helped me get in to oshi no ko again because even though i am still not over ai being dead i can now listen to someone talk about how great and tragic and sad and miserable she was along with all the other characters so thank you again!

that said it does make me so happy every time I hear people saying my relentless oshi no posting stands out to them to the degree that it does lol. I guess I'm in a similar place as you where, as happy as I am for it, it does make me a little sad that it feels like there's such little fan interest in lengthy meta and discussion on Ai herself outside of some really banal, surface level stuff. To a degree, I get that with other characters having so much more time on the page and having ongoing arcs to speculate about, but Ai is sooooooooo fascinating to me and it really drives me insane how often I see people make zero effort to engage with her arc beyond her utilitarian function in the story. It also really bums me out how often I see her get reduced to just a stepping stone in the arcs of other characters — even though the manga is literally shaking you right now and begging you to understand and empathize with her more than ever, I straight up see people cheering and crowing about Ruby 'surpassing' her or 'becoming the true Ai' as if this is a good thing and they are not completely fucking missing the point lmao.

ANYWAY!!!! That's enough grumping because the actual point of this response was to say: the Ai posting will continue until I am physically forced to stop!!!! I have so many thoughts about my wife constantly and if I do not share them I will explode!!!

↳ l/n y/n has never been the type of girl people take care of. she has always been seen as capable and independent but she knew herself that, that was never the case. yang jungwon has always been the boy who gives more love than he receives. what happens when he sees right through y/n’s independent façade and gives her all the love he thinks she deserves?

yn could practically hear her heart pounding as she stood on the rooftop waiting for her secret admirer. she tried to distract herself by focusing on how the wind felt as it blew past her, or how far down the ground was when she had the courage to look over the ledge. going over her speech in her head one last time, she jumps when she hears the door open. she was frozen in place, why was she acting like this so suddenly? how had this person she didn't even know the identity of make her act like a completely different person? scared to turn around, her eyes widen when the anonymous boy finally spoke up. she recognized that voice.

"sorry, i didn't mean to startle you", his voice was shaky, she found comfort in knowing that he was just as nervous as she was. she shamed herself for it, how could she seek comfort out of someone she was going to hurt in the next few minutes?

yang jungwon.

out of all people. yang jungwon. how the hell was yn going to break his heart? slowly turning around, her face remaining stoic, this scared jungwon.

"yang jungwon."

"that's me", he let out a nervous laugh, yn wanted to scream.

"listen..."

as if sirens went off in jungwon's head, his eyes widened and he suddenly became even tenser than he already was. yn saw this and cringed internally. jungwon stared intently at yn, waiting for her to continue, this only made her hesitate even more. jungwon had sensed something was up as he read the note, it lacked any enthusiasm, no cute faces or signs of excitement through her punctuation. although he wanted to be as optimistic as he could, he knew he had to be ready to get hurt.

"i appreciate the gifts and all, but please stop sending me them. have no interest in a relationship right now, and find it a waste of time. im sure you're wasting your time too. please just give me up and find someone else to admire." jungwon couldn't help but notice her clenched fist and hesitance.

yang jungwon was a lot of things, and a good observer was one of them.

a wave of silence hit the pair; the only sound filling their ears being the rustling of the leaves from the incoming breeze. that was until a small chuckle from jungwon's mouth erupted. yn snapped her head up, her brows furrowed in confusion. was he insane?

"yn. i can read you like a book you know that?" she stopped, shrinking into herself, she stepped back.

"...w-what?", her voice came out small, the exact opposite of how she usually presented herself.

"you carry yourself as if you're independent as if you can handle everything by yourself, you're better off alone, and that you like it that way but god knows all of that is just an act."

suddenly, all of yn's words were caught up in her throat and she could not defend herself. not like she usually could.

"i know under all of that you're just some scared little girl. someone who has been longing for love, someone who wants someone who will make her know they love her. someone nothing like her mother..." his tone was so sincere it made yn want to rip her ears off.

"how did you-"

"freshman year?"

yn nodded shamefully at the memory, "...right"

"yn", taking light steps closer to the smaller girl, a comforting smile sitting on his pretty lips.

she had never noticed how pretty he really was.

suddenly he was so close they were almost touching, he leaned down to her eye level and made the type of eye contact that would make any girl shiver, "i want to be the person who will let you know they love you... can i be that person?"

"i can't", she cursed at herself for the voice crack, hoping that he would back off for the sake of both of their hearts.

"please... i'll show you that i can give you all the love you deserve, in person this time. we don't have to be anything just yet."

"i don't want to hurt you.."

"i'd rather you break my heart than for you to continue to hate yourself out of the love you deserve."

it felt like the wind had been knocked out of the girl's lungs. no one in the world had ever shown her the love the way jungwon had in the 10 minutes they had talked than they had in her entire lifetime. there was a brief moment of silence between the two seniors, but when yn's eyes finally met his sparkling brown ones, he knew her answer.

"...ok"

yang jungwon was truly a beautiful soul.

I’m slightly relieved this is a collective theme, I’ve been feeling like I’m “running out of time” and that thing’s are “ending” all year and it’s brought me so much anguish and despair, I’ve been paralyzed! Breaking up with my ex husband, who is the best man I’ve met, and helped me heal so much, only made my feeling of not being capable of keeping up and being left behind grow.

I want to go in a completely diferente direction then everyone currently in my life but it feels so weird. I don’t know what I’m doing and I feel so guilty for seemingly going insane. I physically couldn’t continue living the life I was and now I’m just isolated from everything and lost about who I want to be and where I want to go :(

Do you have any advice for someone who’s starting over and doesn’t know what they want? I only know how to hear the “this is not what we want” voice inside, but still haven’t cultivated the “this!!!! Go after this!!” Voice

Don’t despair love ♥️, I promise you every ending is the precursor to a beautiful new trajectory.

The best way to « find your way » is to first of all clear all the chatter (inside) that isn’t you : take social media breaks, sit with yourself and write down the things that you like / don’t like and see which ones actually stem from within vs the ones that were ingrained. Journal everyday, move your body (I find that qi gong, yoga, and swimming really help when it comes to processing emotions), and nourish yourself well.

I know I always recommend her but please listen or read Florence Scovel Shinn’s books, they’re absolutely life changing. Highly urge you to listen to Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz as well, they’re all free on youtube. Your thoughts and emotions have such an immense impact on your life experience, I learned this the hard way. So managing them and re-directing them when necessary is truly the key to living an harmonious and balanced life. What you cultivate within is ultimately what you will encounter outside of yourself, inner alchemy is the ultimate « life hack », and is I believe what all religions teach at their core.

This is not an easy journey, but you will be so proud of yourself in the end, and you’ll see that everything was actually working out for your good. I have this very firm belief that whatever leaves my life does so to make space for something better, and every time I get proven right.

Be gentle with yourself as you go through this process, and keep believing that everything is aligning for you. Im sending you lots of love 💞

Im repetitive? I use the same words and phrases over and over,,,, and im predictable in how characters act bc i often project myself into them,,, meaning i use myself as a reference and i try not to but it helps make it real in my mind

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I would certainly try,,, but the only language im really semi-qualified to translate into is American Sign Language (which i would love to do, we are severely lacking in deaf characters)

Okay we are going chronologically, be prepared

We start after the war, Robert is king an Jamie annoys him, he decides to marry him off, making a special agreement so that he can do this as a knight. Robert choices a Hightower sister: Helanna. She says yes. purely to increase her family’s nobility. Jamie is forced to agree.

During their engagement, Helanna sees Jamie and Cersei doing some un twin like things and uses this to her advantage, she could marry someone she has leverage over.

She strikes a deal with Jamie, she keeps her mouth shut and she’s free to sleep with who she wants, any children he’ll claim as his. He wants kids so badly he accepts this.

Her and Cersei strangely get along fine she ‘understands’ her and Jamie’s relationship (🤮she doesn’t, she’s a liar). Again, both are very clear that they haven’t consummated the marriage. Cersei once sends a knight to sleep with Helanna 💀. they’re so funny.

Anyway. Cersei is pregnant and can’t pretend it’s Roberts so she starts a rumour that Helanna is pregnant and goes to live with her as a ‘good sister in law’. This is when Joanna Lannister is born, and Helanna agrees to raise her.

Cersei is very territorial over her children, so they live in the Red Keep, going to the Hightower home as holidays basically lol. same with Casterly Rock. Helanna then decides that she will NOT have a possible future heir to the Lannister fortune be Cersei’s child, so plans to somehow have a boy.

In my head, Jamie genuinely likes Helanna and sees her as a friend. and he has moments of clarity where he realises Cersei is insane and after one of these moments…He and Helanna finally…consummate the marriage lol.

9 months later, Brydan Lannister is born, Jamie freaks out like “is he mine??” and Helanna is like “nope,” and finds a random blonde do to shag and make Jamie see to keep this lie going.

Anyway, then they don’t have sex again and Cersei has another child who Helanna raises, Loren Lannister.

Helanna sleeps around a lot, and gives birth the Alerie Lannister, named after her sister (Margaery’s mum). Jamie gets really sad actually, because he loves Alerie, but he knows she’s not his, and he knows Brydan is. He’s a jealous man.

Jamie then sleeps on and off with Helanna, and two daughters are born, Rhea Lannister (named after Helanna’s mum) and then a Olenna Lannister because Helanna is very close to her neice and nephew, causing Olenna to almost absorb her into the family.

The death of Margaery sends Helanna into an early labour with Olenna. Really a kick in the face when he realises his daughter is named after the woman he killed his son (Helanna LOVES it lol. what a leg)

ANYWAY, everything is very rocky and Jamie falls out of love with Cersei, and realise Helanna is just AMAZING, and BEAUTIFUL and he loves her and their kids.

When Jamie goes north to fight against the white walkers, Helanna begs to go with him, but Cersei keeps a close eye on her and while Jamie is away, she pays a lot of attention to how Helanna’s children look a lot like Jamie- Anyway, she’s imprisoned and Joanna sends her siblings away, Loren stays with her in King’s Landing and Alerie is sent North to find Jamie, Olenna sends Tyrion a letter begging for help, although she’s never met him.

Helanna escapes, bruised and bloody, and Joanna leaves with her bit Loren refuses to leave, and Cersei is like ‘omg a son thats alive that doesn’t hate me but doesn’t know im his mum 😭)

Anyway, Helanna’s imprisonment is what seals the deal for Jamie and he goes to kill Cersei lol, Helanna and the kids in the north. He could just stay with them actually lol. idk.

ok so like we going into the intricacies of these three motherfuckers and why shipping them in certain ways is a little fucked/fundamentally misunderstands their character(s)/etc.

CW for discussions of a bit of a variety of abuse

NMJ - Nie Mingjue LXC - Lan Xichen JGY/MY - Jin Guangyao/Meng Yao

So: run down for those who may not know these characters and what they're about.

All together, the three are known as the Venerated Triad. The three all played major roles during the Sunshot Campaign-- a war of the Jin, Jiang, Nie, and Lan Sects against the Wen Sect, who was trying to take over all sects --with Nie Mingjue/Chifeng Zun (one in the middle) known for leading the Campaign, Lan Xichen/Zewu Jun (one on the left) Also leading on top of protecting ancient Lan books when the Lan Sect had basically fallen, and Jin Guangyao/Lianfan Zun (one on the right) infiltrating the Wen Sect and sending battle plans to Lan Xichen, which ultimately helped them take down the Wens.

After the Sunshot Campaign ended, the three swore Brotherhood, which is like, really complicated to explain, but in most books in this genre, it can be gay.

So like why is it bad to ship all three if they did one of the gay rituals. Well.

Jin Guangyao initially joined the Nie Sect, then known as Meng Yao, as a form of servant. He was known as the bastard son of Jin Guangshan (the Jin Sect leader), whose mother was a sex worker, and was raised poor despite having the blood of arguably the richest man in the cultivation world. He was bullied to actual hell wherever he went, until it was brought to the attention of Nie Mingjue-- the Nie Sect leader. NMJ defended him, and pretty quickly promotes him to be the second in command of his army, especially after seeing how skilled MY was in this subject. He basically becomes an advisor alongside NMJ, became friends with Nie Huaisang-- NMJ's little brother --and was very well trusted by NMJ. But, despite now having a higher position within the sect, MY was still ridiculed by the General, and quite harshly at that, literally just because his mom was a sex worker. For the drama I guess, MY just DOESN'T tell NMJ about this.

Later on, a mass-murderer named Xue Yang would come to be held in the jail of the Nie Sect. Without anyone else's knowledge, the two were already colluding, as at some point MY was colluding with the Wen Sect? This shit is so confusing on timeline when it comes to CQL it's kind of insane, but anyways, MY already knew Xue Yang, and after a few days of him being held in the jail, Xue Yang miraculously escapes as the Wen Sect very suddenly attacks the Nies.

While this is happening, MY very deliberately kills the General of the Nie Sect RIGHT in front of NMJ. Like NMJ saw the whole thing. But he still has the gal to be like XUE YANG KILLED HIM!!!! XUE YANG KILLED HIM DA-GE PWEAAASSEEE!!!!!!! but they don't really get to dwell on that because someone else tries to attack NMJ-- to which MY saves him by taking the stab in the stomach for him.

Once they manage to get the Wens off their ass, NMJ has MY come to the little Nie meeting room, and is basically like (through tears) WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT MAN. Because again, NMJ trusted MY a lot. MY was, at that time, probably his most trusted guy in the whole sect that wasn't his baby brother, and now he's murdered his general and let an actual insane criminal loose. While NMJ claims the only reason he won't kill MY is because MY saved him during the battle, there is a lot of underlying care that he has for MY, so he just exiles him and boots him out of the Nie Sect.

"why can't that be gay" to me its a very surface level take to just ship them off of this. have some nuance. we'll look into these characters more intimately later.

Now. From here. MY would join the Wen Sect as Wen Rouhan's advisor. And he's REALLY playing up the part-- because at this time, it seems most likely that the Wens will win the war-- so MY would have a high ranking govt. position in the ruling sect. But. Wrenches are thrown into the plan, and eventually, MY realizes that he needs to have an escape route for whenever the Wens tip over, and they're no longer on top.

This is where Lan Xichen comes into play.

At the time, the Lan Sect had been viciously attacked by the Wens, where the vast majority of its people were eliminated, and the Cloud Recesses/where the Lans live had been destroyed. Lan Qiren, Lan Xichen's uncle, instructed LXC to take the ancient texts from the hidden Library of the Lan Sect, and to run. Because, if everyone else did get killed, at least the ancient texts and the Lan Sect Leader would still be alive. And very begrudgingly, LXC does. While running away, MY would save LXC and provide him somewhere to stay-- which gives MY the out that he needs. He gains the trust of at least one of the leaders of the opposing Sects, and because it was trust gained out of mercy, it was something that he could easily use against LXC should it ever come to that.

Over time MY gains more and more of LXC's trust by sending him copies of the Wen battle plans, giving him intel about the Wens, etc. etc.. And as more and more of it proves to be right, the more LXC trusts MY-- even though he had previously betrayed NMJ in a major way. Because NMJ is still pretty pissed/sad about what happened. Though, LXC doesn't tell NMJ that MY is the intel because he knows it would piss him off.

etc etc etc time goes on, the Sunshot Campaign comes to an end with the Wen Sect going under, and MY is revealed to be the intel that saved the other sects. MY goes to the Jin Sect, getting the name Jin Guangyao (which is a whole other post I could go off about (tho in defense of JGY LMFAOO)), along with the title Lianfang Zun. Again, he's basically an advisor guy, except this time it's under his dad who fucking hates him to death.

This is when the three, LXC, NMJ, and JGY, swear brotherhood. And again this may not seem so bad for a ship, but this is a very heavily summarized thing. Let's get into JGY's craving for power.

No matter what context you put JGY in, he will want power. It's a matter of proving himself to a father who doesn't care about him, proving himself to those who ridicule him for having such a "lowly birth", all that-- he's a viciously insecure man. When he was with the Nies, he had a high rank. He was cared for and adored by the ruling family of the sect-- but the Nies weren't the wealthiest or most influential sect. The Nies weren't a small sect by any means, but they weren't the Wens-- who were able to overthrow an entire sect over night, and initially get away with it because the other Sects were too scared to challenge them. And when the Wens were going under, the Jin Sect was once again the most prominent sect-- even if it was NMJ who was leading the whole campaign.

This craving for power was something that NMJ had noticed and would quickly come to oppose, but as he was slowly succumbing to his way of cultivation, people weren't so ready to believe him. He was "irrational and violent", a stark contrast to JGY who seemed to make himself at home with his new position in the Jin Sect. And eventually, NMJ would start to shut his mouth on the matter, especially when not even Lan Xichen would fully listen to him-- and he had a deep amount of trust in LXC. He would start to comply to keep the peace, which meant swearing brotherhood to a man that betrayed him, and letting that man back into his home.

These trips JGY made back to the Nie sect was mostly to perform what I believe was called "Tranquility" for NMJ. The saber spirits that the Nies cultivate are self destructive for its user, which was why NMJ's health overall was starting to decline. He would have outbursts of rage, his mental state was skewed, all that. And Tranquility was meant to help sooth his Qi in hopes of postponing the inevitable-- there wasn't a single Nie Sect leader that lived a full life while cultivating saber spirits.

BUT! BC JGY WAS MAD AT NMJ! JGY altered the score of tranquility in such a subtle way that not even LXC would notice for like, 16 years, and did it in a way that it worsened NMJ's health. So like. For over the course of what. Six Months. JGY was slowly poisoning NMJ through these visits-- and as of canon for Fatal Journey (The Nie Spin off Movie), taught Huaisang this distorted score, which lead to NMJ murdering members of his own sect in a fit of uncontrolled rage. Literally only LXC was playing the right version of Tranquility for NMJ, but he wasn't the one able to make the most visits as he lived the furthest away from Qinghe/the Nie Sect.

But yeah um. NMJs fucked up state lead to the best scene (NMJ kicking JGY down a whole flight of stairs) and the worst scene (NMJ fucking self imploding). He dies because of all this thoguh. Yeah.

I can't deny that Xiyao aka LXC/JGY was like......... a Thing. Ok. But the thing people fail to realize is that Xiyao is an abusive relationship through and through, because JGY only used it as a way to have power. And the thing that trips people up about this is because JGY is human. He's comically evil in every other instance except for his relationship with LXC, which is why people think it was earnest, and that they just didn't get their happy ending because of things JGY did "in the past".

And I won't deny that JGY did have some underlying care for LXC-- because abusers don't ever want to believe that they're doing something bad. He believes he's doing what he's doing for his own sake, that he's in the right because if LXC doesn't have trust in him, then who will? LXC is an influential figure still, even if it's the Jin Sect that's on top. And LXC is the only person who stands up for him regularly within the four major sects.

Xiyao in a plot related setting makes sense. It was a survival tool for JGY. LXC was a gay man who was very vulnerable during the war. His father was killed, his sect was on the brink of total elimination much like the Jiangs, the survival of ancient history was on his shoulders so he needed to survive-- and JGY provided that link. He was LXC's shoulder to cry on, someone he could trust with personal secrets, and while there may have been a genuine connection from JGY as well-- his whole intention with the relationship was to gain power. While LXC may have indulged in sharing secrets, JGY probably never did. Considering he kept the whole music score and murdering their sworn brother a secret.

You can even see how JGY functions relationship wise in maintaining a certain image in how he treats the whole situation with Qin Su-- his wife and um. Half Sister. He love bombs to hell, and when it doesn't work he gets angry and lashes out. I don't think he would have needed to be as unrestricted to LXC as he was Qin Su, because LXC very much............ Has Issues. And I don't think it's helped because his mother was locked up by his father in a cottage for years on end in total isolation. LXC has NOOO basis of a healthy relationship, so I'm sure he accepted what JGY presented at face value. Which is why I think it was so easy for JGY to maintain those lies for literally 16 years.

JGY took advantage of skills taught to him by LXC to murder NMJ. He took advantage of LXC's favor to put him in a good light to the cultivation world, and he was able to get in to the Jin sect with LXC's encouragement. LXC is the literal pillar to JGY's success, and if that pillar falls, he has nothing to back him up.

Sure, he might have Su She, a dedicated follower who did a lot of his dirty work-- but Su She was despised even by LXC. He might have had Xue Yang to fall on for even filthier shit, but Xue Yang was a notorious mass murderer who eliminated a minor clan just because he felt like it. LXC was the ONE guy who he could rely on wholeheartedly to keep his reputation in tact. Which is why he begins to act so irrationally when he sees that he's losing LXC during the Guanyin Temple scene-- which is where JGY dies. AND GET THIS! GET THIS!

JGY DELIBERATELY. PULLS LXC INTO THE COLLAPSING TEMPLE WITH HIM, BEGGING HIM TO FALL WITH HIM-- BUT OH, OH LAST MINUTE HE PUSHES LXC AWAY FROM THE RUIN TO SAVE HIM ONE LAST TIME. SOMETHING THAT WILL STAY ON LXCS CONSCIENCE FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!

their relationship is BUILT on JGY doing something good for LXC in order to make LXC feel like he owes him. I'm sure over the 16 years there were MANY positive events from JGY that LXC clings onto, but JGY still killed NMJ. He still killed Jin Guangshan, and pushed Qin Su into killing herself. He forced prostitutes into continuing to have sex with JGS even as the man was dying, he killed his own son with Qin Su after finding out they were related, and wiped out a minor sect after blaming them for the death of his son. He falsely accused Mo Xuanyu of sexually harassing Qin Su (or himself if u go off of the novel), and exiled MXY because he just didn't like him. All that! All that under LXCs nose.

so I just. I CAN'T take it when people say oh, i love 3zun because they make each other worse. NMJ and LXC TRIED to make things right between all three of them, and JGY couldn't settle for that. It's two victims and a murderer/abuser. Even when NMJ was still hurt by JGY's betrayal, he would ask LXC how he was doing in the Jin sect. He WANTED things to be better even if he knew things were getting worse, and he bowed his head out of respect for LXC, which would lead to his early death.

When you say shit like oh they make each other worse, I feel like that should only apply to characters who are mutually destructive. LXC was a victim of abuse. NMJ may have argued and fought back, but he was a victim of petty grudges. In an ideal world, NMJ would've been completely content with straightening things out and understanding the circumstances-- but the circumstances here were viciously damning, and JGY only made it worse.

and again like. LXC was a peacemaker. He didn't like that NMJ and JGY hated each other, even if they would be visibly pleasant to one another, he wanted them to go back to the way it had been before the Sunshot Campaign-- which is why I think he proposed the Sworn Brotherhood. But I don't think he knew every single intricacy that lead to the downfall between those two-- a simple solution like that wouldn't work.

And as I mentioned earlier on NMJ's and JGY's relationship to each other being surface level if you shipped them-- this may just be my own interpretation of NMJ, but I very much believe he saw JGY as another little brother. So, on the same level as Nie Huaisang-- who he cares very deeply for. JGY and NHS were around the same age (iirc jgy only a few years older, but not in NMJs age group), the two got along with each other greatly, and i believe both shared similar interests. So. I think the dynamic of NMJ holding JGY to the same standard as NHS is a lot more interesting and takes more things into account. Not every relationship between not-blood-related men needs to be romantic. lmfao. It also just makes the betrayal and how NMJ receives it a lot more personal to me.

These three have such an interesting dynamic to me that can absolutely be explored. Again I won't say that Xiyao is made out of nothing-- there's elements there, but to make them into a cutesy little pair is a vicious disservice to JGY's character, because you can't separate him from his manipulative nature. It's a core part of his character whether you like it or not, taking it away just takes away JGY's appeal. On top of that, shipping them for the abuse aspect is like..................... lmao. It's not mutually destructive. you're weird.
