hi there! this is actually so cute omg of course im going to do these! i hope they were okay, i sort of did it in a way where it would work with and without an s/o but some leaned more to either side,, if that makes sense
also thank you so much, i’m so glad you like my blog so far!! i hope i can continue this level of work for the future <3

Kirishima sometimes sneezes so hard his whole body hardens by accident- like he’ll just poof up like a pufferfish. Sometimes he doesn’t even realise he’s hardened 💀 it’s adorable to watch the both of you jump confusion when he tries to lie back down but he ends up poking you
Tumblr media
todoroki juggles with the ice he can make. There’ll be days where he is watching or listening to something and suddenly his right hand turns blue and there’s three small ice balls between tossed between his hands. someone started a competition to guess how long he could do it for and so far, Shoji is in the lead
Tumblr media
iida has a habit of shushing you in his sleep. like maybe you’d wake up before him and be on your phone, he’d roll over all bleary-eyed and you’d know he was basically still asleep because his normal I’ve-just-woken-up-and-you’re-the-first-thing-I-saw smile isn’t there. he’d brush his fingers against your mouth all ‘mmfhm shhh don’t worryyy don’t worry i'll t-ake..care’ because even in his sleep he wants to make sure you’re okay at all times. his role as class rep really is perfect for him 😩
Tumblr media
denki is so energetic. and so clingy. sometimes a bit too much but just tell him and he’ll bound off and give you your space. anyway because of his energy, he sometimes struggles to sleep and rest. before he could never find peace with it and sleep, so he started to ask you to take a long walk with him before bed. you’d go around the area around the dorms and the woods area and talk about literally anything and everything. sometimes you’d walk past houses and try to guess the names of the house owners.
‘Someone called Sakura definitely lives there’
‘Why because there’s sakura trees?’
‘...yes’
Tumblr media
shoji always wanted to help you. ALWAYS. if you were doing something that needed a bunch of tools like your makeup, or cooking, or building something like a new dresser after you told aizawa your old one broke, shoji would come RUNNING. ‘hey y/n can I help you?’ and the way he helps is he holds everything you need for you, and hands it over as soon as you need it.
‘okay mascara time shoji can y-‘ *shoji is already shoving the mascara into your face*
‘oh gosh I need a wrench-‘ *shoji’s wrenching it for you*
basically he just wants to help you 25/8
Tumblr media
sero absolutely loves using his tape to drag you to him. if you’re across the room from him he’ll  loosely wrap it around your waist, and then pull you in towards his body with a smirk on his face. his favourite time to do this is when he’s in his hammock and you’re standing across his room, he’ll just pull you along no matter what you were doing or holding so he could hold you. another thing he’d do is pull you in for a hug and then suddenly tightly  wrapping his tape around the both of you like a snake, only smiling cheekily when you give him a questioning look.
‘sero?’ ‘I’m not letting you go’
Tumblr media
bakugo stares at your hands. bakugo REALLY likes staring at your hands, I feel like bakugo has an obsession with your hands...because his are rough from his quirk but yours are soft and comforting :( and man does he want to hold them. but he refuses. holding hands is for extras. and also he doesn’t want to hurt you by accidentally setting off his quirk, but also because holding hands is for extras >:(. hon you’re going to have to take the initiative and one day randomly grab his hands, when you’re out don’t give him time to really comprehend that you’ve just grabbed his hand, because he really really likes it but his pride won’t let him enjoy it. if you grab it randomly he’ll probably short-circuit and walked with you dazed and again, just stare at your joint hands. his thoughts are running wild ‘fuck hands so soft fuck we’re holding hands oh god don’t let go bakugo or else I’ll smack you don’t sweat don’t sweat don’t sweat’. meanwhile you’re just smiling happily because he hasn’t let go! in fact he’s just tightened his hold around your fingers, grumbling under his breath
Tumblr media
midoriya is so cute oh my lord. he's absolutely adorable. we all know he loves his note-taking and if you don't know, he also takes invisible notes when he doesn't have his books. once he got close to you, you became his new notebook. kind of. if you're dating midoriya you need to be able to handle his chattering. he'd do the boy thing and lean into your face so his breath is brushing your cheeks and not realise that he's making you flustered. 'hey y/n did you see the way mount lady did that? she runs and makes sure she has space to not step on anyway y/n what if she ever stepped on anyone what would the hero handbook say can you imagine??'
Tumblr media
tokoyami would fluff his feathers omg i'm just imagining it and its the cutest thing ever holy shit. and he normally only does it when he lays down in your lap. he'd fall asleep resting on your thighs and then get up, just to stretch out his legs and back, change positions, oh and shake his head to fluff out his feathers. the first time you saw him doing that you literally stopped breathing in surprise, it was so cute. nobody else knew he did that until denki walked in on tokoyami curled in on your lap and your boyfriend chose that exact time to do his little birdy wiggle. best believe denki ran out gleaming to share the new information
Tumblr media
shinsou takes you on a walk, to one place specifically. and this one place is a little secluded area in the park literally filled with cats of all sizes and shapes. according to shinsou all of these cats have names and favourite foods and favourite ways to be petted and their favourite person is shinsou himself! okay that changes a bit when you get involved too, but shinsou isn’t a jealous person especially when it comes to cats obviously. these are your favourite moments with him because as i’ve said before, shinsou values privacy so this is where he lets himself relax in public. when he’s comfortable he pulls you onto his lap or tucks you onto his side or lays his head on you. he’ll litter kisses on your neck whilst you stroke the kittens as per his instructions of what they like. he even picks up each kitten and says hi, pecking them on the nose when you two arrive, god my heart that’s so cute. when you leave the kittens would all meow briefly before teetering away, as you make shinsou promise to bring you back

Moriarty the Patriot + The Final Problem
aka another unecessary essay from ya boy on how yuumori, instead of taking away from the original text, adds meaning and depth to it
Tumblr media
So I finally got around to reading the final problem after wading through all the memoirs of sherlock holmes and yes, I am in fact reading these because of yuumori. I wanted to see how it was portrayed, what the differences and influences from the original source were. I did end up getting incredibly attached to the original series too, so yeah... I'm glad to report that the original and adaption get along well.
And yeah, I have a lot of thoughts, most of them being just me generally praising yuumori. I think it was straight up genius how they pulled so much content from... well, frankly. The Final Problem was a 15 page short story tossed off by Doyle in order to have an excuse to be done with sherlock holmes, told from the perspective of someone who wasn't even there. And yuumori still managed to make it generally very accurate and complementary to the original, while still being, uhhhhh really fucking different, let's say that.
Read more because again, long essay
Just my observations on the final problem itself is that it is so underdeveloped and told from an outsider perspective. Because of that, so many questions go unanswered, and the reader gets a sense that they are only witnessing a very small part of what actually happened. Sherlock can't afford to go into detail on what Moriarty was even involved in, Watson isn't privy to what's honestly even happening most of the time, and Moriarty just... has this extensive network of organized crime that just isn't even talked about other than Trust Me It's Bad Bro. We don't know Moriarty's intentions, most of who he is, and more questions are honestly brought up than answered within the story. Sherlock knows, oh that's for sure, Sherlock knows what's going on and he has no fucking time to tell Watson. You get a sense that Watson himself isn't even telling all that went down.
So yeah, I can see where there's so much room to expand upon here, not even to change things or make it different because it would be cool, but there's so much that could be happening just within the realm of plausible deniability in the canon.
And I think that it's amazing how Yuumori chose to market itself that way- not as an adaption or reimagining- but that this was in fact the Real story, with Doyle's final problem being... honestly a bit of a cover up, a purposeful misrepresentation of a small slice of the full story. It lends itself completely to that, and I think that's amazing.
(One thing I do find funny is that in Yuumori the story "the final problem" is depicted as a full novella that could be published on its own... man it's not nearly long enough for that but I find it funny in any way)
Of course, there are elements of yuumori that are yknow, simply not realistically something that could have happened, but most of the story is actually within that range of plausible deniability since the canon is so vague and sparse. And since they state that things were changed on purpose to protect people and the moriarty plan, it basically covers that all as simply The Truth. It's well done, and very interesting, especially with the new anime ending taking them to Reichenbach itself.
Like, yuumori didn't even truly change the appearances of the characters, from the descriptions. (we're not counting the illustrations lol) like, Sherlock was never stated (as far as I can tell) to have a specific hair or eye color, hairstyle or such.... he was described as tall, thin, eccentric, messy, with like... long fingers and stuff. Man, yuumori did not go against that. With Moriarty it's different, though he was also reportedly Tall and Thin and Built Like A Yaoi Protag for some goddamn reason, he... you know, has these weird and unattractive features as well, which... in the context of Watson trying to portray Moriarty as unmitigated evil in order to protect the plan, were in this situation made up specifically to further the idea that he was just that.
Because of this situation, the Moriarty that is portrayed as yeah, a smart guy and a threat but seriously just A Bad Dude who seems to have no particular reason behind his actions save being A Bad Dude actually make more sense as a cover up behind a more dangerous secret of him having Real Feelings than the only stated reason being "he inherited being evil from his family". (like... watson, really?)
It explains the vagueness and the events and the weird connection between those two better than the original does, and that's really cool to me.
On their own, without yuumori to back me up on these things, reading this would have left me confused and depressed. But as a half truth immortalized as the real story, you get so much more out of it.
Especially these certain scenes:
When Moriarty just pops into Sherlock's house and they proceed to have a basically wordless conversation amounting to
"you know why I'm here" "you know how I'm going to respond" "well then" "here's date and time of our mutual destruction" "thanks I'll be there" "well I'll be off nice knowing you" "wow it sucks that we're enemies he's such a civil guy"
It just really adds something to that, don't you think?
And the subject of their fall itself, simply the fact that Watson wasn't even there. No one witnessed it. No one found even Moriarty's body. No one found evidence of anything at all.
All Watson could say was that Sherlock and Moriarty had gone up to the mountain together, Moriarty told Sherlock of his plans, let Sherlock write and leave a letter to Watson, and that they never came back down. So he came to the conclusion that they must have fought and both fallen off.... like, holding each other. Not really sure how they reached that conclusion, to be honest.
It doesn't even make sense, exactly told how it is. If Moriarty wanted to kill sherlock and survive, he would have just... brought a fucking gun. Or just pushed him off on the way up. As soon as he got him alone just fucking stab the man. It would have been that easy, but no, he had a whole ass convo with the man, they went up civilly side by side, and they stayed on the cliff a long time while Sherlock wrote that letter. Even then, Sherlock could have just waited to catch Moriarty off guard and pushed him off. But he didn't.
Why would they even have fought, if it was so scheduled? You telling me to believe that after this letter was written and moriarty stood there watching him sipping tea or whatever he was suddenly like "ok im ready to fight now", knowing they would both probably die, and if they were genuinely trying to kill each other and survive, that would even make sense?
Of course, these problems in the original stem just from Doyle no longer giving a shit and slapping this together after losing motivation for sherlock, he was obviously, not hinting at some great conspiracy in the slightest.
But damn, Yuumori really does change that all for you, huh. It adds a whole new layer of context to it. And I like it a lot, I like what they've done on their own, I like what they've done for the original stories, and I especially like what they've done telling the "real story" of this short, vague, mystery that otherwise leaves you feeling unsatisfied and confused.

Okay so, may I request Arkham Knight Riddler x hero reader? Reader (reluctantly) works with Batman. And since Brice is super busy with everything else, reader takes care of Riddler and Catwoman. And then it’s the end, it’s time to defeat him, when Ed finally finds out he’s been battling reader all night, not Batman. But reader tries her best to be kind about it and not hurt him like Batman does, maybe talk to him like a person, not a criminal.
i had so many ideas??? but couldn't get them down on paper????
Arkham Riddler X hero reader
Batman is...not happy about your connection to riddler. he tries to understand, he really does but he just doesn't get it. he hopes riddler can change, maybe this time, with you it would be possible. but he still thinks riddler needs to pay for his crimes, even with your help he fully intends to arrest him. if you two dont agree, id advise keeping it to yourself or he might not let you help
 you dont really want to do this. you know how much it will hurt edward, how much it will damage your relationship . you feel like batman is taking advantage of your connection with edward to reel him in. But ultimately bats convinces you; he says it will be easier on riddler to have someone who loves him talk him down than it will for bats himself to do it. unfortunately you have to agree.
 when you show up instead of bats at the first meeting, Riddler is pissed. He nearly doesn't let you in, nearly offs catwoman right then and there. He’ doesnt recognise you in costume, but something about your voice is familiar. SOMEHOW you talk your way into the orphanage and to be frank catwoman isn't happy to see you either, even after you explain the situation. you’re really starting to feel like the bad guy here.
Bats takes care of the trials, since he’s the only one who can drive the batmobile, but he’s depending on you to stay with selina. the puzzles in the orphanage aren't easy, especially the weighted plate one . even with your costume and all the equipment bats gave you, you and selina together are still too light. you come up with the idea to use some of the defeated riddler bots as extra weight. riddler himself is actually pretty impressed by that, it was an ingenious solution and he cant even get mad because he was the one who gave you them to fight in the first place.
its  sad for you to see him become gradually more unhinged as the night wears on. Selina knows you, she knows you care about him , even if she makes cruel jokes about it. she understands the attachment to someone who is...unavailable. when you two have a quiet moment alone, she tries to comfort you, make you see this is going to end badly so you don't get too hurt by the inevitable.
When the final fight comes he’s pretty broken. you and selina pull him from that mechsuit and toss him across the floor. you obviously don't want to hurt him, but if you didn't get him outta there he’d likely hurt himself. He just sort of sits on the ground, already defeated and expecting  you to deliver the final blow in a “what the hell are you waiting for “ kind of way. you cant talk him down like this, he wont listen to you while you’re wearing that mask.
the only way you have even a SLIM chance of getting through to him is to take it off.  It’ll hurt you to reveal your secret, its going to destroy him. Selina sees you reaching for it and tries to stop you but you tell her you have to, its the only way.
edwards expression when he sees your face is one of horror and betrayal. he cant walk after that fight, so he just scoots back on the floor trying to put distance between the two of you. he keeps muttering “i dont believe it. i dont understand “ and “ this cant be.”  he’ll shout things like “how could you?!”. selina will excuse herself to give you two some time alone.
riddler will be shouting, probably too upset to listen to your side of the story. don’t be afraid to shout back. if you say the right words, he’ll quieten down.
i think, when he sees your face, the fight will leave him. he’s so very tired and now? seeing even you take someone elses side? he just cant anymore, somethings got to change but for now he just needs to be sad. he’ll go very quiet and say something like “just...take me home.” what happens next is up to you.
if you chose to help batman, bats will let you ride in the back of the batmobile with edward. He’ll let you tag along to the gcpd and even let you stay by him in the holding room. he draws the line at letting you into the villains timeout tank, but that’s mostly for your safety. with your identity out there, he cant risk letting you near people like cobblepot or slade.
If you chose to run with edward, it’s success will depend on Selina’s help. Selina is PRETTY pissed about what ed put her through. but, as a favor to you for helping her, shes willing to give you both a head start from the cops and maybe distract batman.
i dont know if edward will forgive you. He’s...glad. glad it was you who got to him and not batman, whatever you chose to do after. he apreciates how you chose him over your secret, chose to try and talk him down instead of kicking 50 shades of shit out of him . poor boy already has trust issues, hes glad that even though you could have hurt him and gotten away with it thanks to the mask, you chose not to, he wont forget that in a hurry.
 depending on your chose, apreciates you giving up everything to try and be with him OR apreciates you bringing him in to try and get him help. hes obviously not happy with the way things went but i dont know if the anger is focused on you or just the situation in general.
things aren't going to go back to normal with you two. he just cant coalesce the thought of you betraying him by siding with batman, to the thought of you giving up everything to be with him. he loves you and he’s sure you love him too but...he just needs some time to process.
i think, ultimatly he’ll decide he doesnt need to forgive you. you didnt do anything wrong and even though he’s still upset he knows your heart was in the right place. He’ll be pissed with batman for manipulating you into doing this but as long as you still love him, depsite everything, he’ll be willing to overlook it
he will ask you to never put that mask on again thought. he has a purple domino mask you can wear if you really want to. ;)
boy that was another long one. i think i write too much haha.
got something you’d like to ask me? send me an ask or a dm! im always game to talk about our favorite curious menace 💚💜

For a writing prompt, Indruck post apocalyptic au (preferably everyone is human?) Indrid is infected by some sort of alien parasite, and the only way they can save him is to cut it out of him without anesthesia? Feel free to be as graphic as you want, but if it’s too whumpy for you, no pressure to write it! Thanks as always!
Here you go! It’s mid-level graphic: if it were a movie, you wouldn’t be seeing guts everywhere, but you would see the wounds. Also, content warning for body horror, namely the kind where a fungus takes over your body, and referenced suicide (no suicide actually occurs, don’t worry)
He should have seen it coming.
The tell-tale dampness and smell in the air, like battery acid and rotten milk, the fact that he’d made it the whole trip without seeing any Mycilioptera (that was, according to Joseph, the scientific term for the for the cat-sized, skittering alien creatures looking for someone to sting).
The creature was on him with a droning, high whine, scratching his face, smearing stinging mucus across his eyes and mouth. He made a rookie error, following his instinct to rip off the the substance dulling his senses, rather than feel sweep his arms over his body, locate the creature, and hurl it as far away as he could.
When the stinger hit his stomach, he screamed. The noise was useless; this quadrant of the city was abandoned months ago. He collapsed to the ground, clutching his sides as the pain seeps through them. His eyes cleared enough that he forced his fingers to work, grip the handle of his hatchet, and cleave it with a crunch.
Now, clutching the steering wheel of the Winnebago (in this world you do not need a fast car; you need something with thick sides and room for supplies and friends), he knows there are only two ways this can go.
If he is lucky, the parasite will be slow acting enough and he will stay lucid enough to reach the ranch in time for someone to remove it.
If he is unlucky, he will run out of time, and the parasite will take control of his body, manipulate him zombie-like to an advantageous location, and burst from his chest, mouth, and eyes in milky-white stalks, sending spores into the air, which will either grow in to adults or be inhaled by any other humans in a two mile radius, subjecting them to a prolonged version of Indrid’s fate.
He leans on the gas pedal, hurtling down the empty backroad. They found an abandoned, un-pilfered gas station and filled all the vehicles, with some left over for scouting and supply runs. And, if it came to it, an escape.
From the passenger seat, his backpack meows. A familiar black and brown head pokes out, the ratty collar still reading “Winnie.” Winnie, the reason he ran into that abandoned parking garage during a salvage mission in the first place.
Because she’s Duck’s cat, the one he thought he’d never see again after she fled out the door when the city evacuated. And Indrid loves Duck Newton more than anything in the world.
They’d been friends before everything went to hell, inching towards a confession of deeper feeling and Indrid still remembers the way his heart felt when he spotted Duck at the evac staging shelter. He hadn't even opened his mouth when Duck was hugging him, holding him tight and saying he was so fucking glad he was okay.
When three, then five, then ten infected humans burst in the evac center, Duck had Indrid’s hand they were running before almost anyone else knew what was happening, bandanas over their mouths because Josephs last message before the cell towers were overloaded was to keep their noses and mouths covered.
They made it, against all odds, out into the countryside, Thacker’s Quonset hut and Mama’s farmhouse as safe as they’d hoped. The others trickled in one by one or two by two; sometimes bringing other survivors with them. Other survivors found them later, though the humans they saw became fewer and fewer with each day.
Mama took in everyone who wasn’t infected, while Joseph, Dani, Duck and Thacker operated and sewed up the infected who could be saved (if removed before it takes over the host, the parasite will die when exposed to air). Those who could not were given choices; most chose a swift death, especially when they learned that dying before the parasites emerged would kill the alien inside them.
And every night, Indrid and Duck shared a small bed, clinging to each other and telling jokes or stories until they could sleep. Two months in, Duck kissed him in the dark and Indrid kissed back, and when Duck asked if it was only the end of the world driving Indrid’s affection, Indrid shook his head
“I’ve wanted this for awhile. And I don’t know what’s coming. All I know is I want to be with you when it does.”
At the front of the Winnebago Indrid wipes his eyes; what a foolish thing to say. He doesn’t want Duck here for this, that’s for damn sure, and yet he drives towards him anyway,
He’s feverish, sweat running down his face and arms shaking, and while his veins are still blue, he can see the parasite rippling under his skin; it’s not wasting any time.
He’s not going to make it. And if he tries, he’ll put all his friends in danger
There’s no choice but to pull to the side of the road a few miles from the farm and step from the trailer, leaving the door ajar so Winnie can escape into the wild. He’s crying all the while, breath coming in shaky gasps; just because he’s doing the right thing doesn’t mean he isn’t miserable and terrified.
Indrid pulls out his pistol. He won’t be an incubator, he won’t spread this, he won’t help the things that took so much of his world from him.
He won’t ever see Duck again.
He sobs, once, then wretches as the fever grows and his vision goes spotty. He has to do this, even though every time he looks at the weapon his whole body shakes with fear.
“‘Drid!”
Duck’s voice, just audible over the thrum of an engine. Then tires screech into view, Aubrey piloting a jeep. Duck jumps to the ground before she’s even stopped.
“‘Drid, don’t you fuckin dare-”
“Nono, stay back!” He scrambles on his hands and heels, slamming into the side of the trailer, “I got stung, I already have a fever, I can feel it moving-”
Duck drops to his knees, lifting Indrid’s glasses.
“Your eyes are still brown. It ain’t too late.”
“But the veins near the wound are going white” Joseph stands behind Duck, “we won’t be able to get him back in time.”
“Th-that’s why I pulled over, I, I can’t get the rest of you infected, please, please just go-”
“You got the field kit?”
Aubrey tosses it to Duck.
“We can still save you, sugar. And I’m sure as hell gonna fuckin try.”
Duck and Joseph haul him to his feet and carry him inside, laying him on his back on the table. Aubrey follows him, sitting down on one bench and taking his hand.
“We got no anesthetic, so this is gonna hurt like a motherfucker, but you can do it. Okay?”
Indrid nods weakly.
“We’re gonna get you through this. You’re” fear flickers across Duck’s face, “you’re gonna be okay.”
Aubrey braces Indrid’s upper body, Joseph his lower, as Duck cleans around the puncture in his stomach and sterilizes his tools. Aubrey holds up a hand,
“We need something for your mouth, right?”
“Good call” Duck retrieves a wooden spoon from a drawer, setting it between Indrid’s teeth.
“Okay” Duck takes a deep breath, meets Indrids eyes, “okay. I’m gonna start cuttin. Ready?”
Indrid just manages a thumbs up.
It hurts, because a blade cutting into your skin will always hurt. And because it hurts Indrid screams.
“That’s good” Joseph is trying to sound reassuring, but even he looks worried, “scream if you need to, research suggests it helps with the pain.”
“It’s not too deep, thank fuckin christ.”
Indrid stares at the ceiling and yells when Duck widens the incision.
“Almost can see ‘im. Yeah, there, he’s startin to shrivel already from the air.”
Relief mingles with the pain in his tears. Aubrey pets his head, “you’re gonna be okay, see?”
“C’mere you, you fuckin monster, you fuckin think you can take him from me” Duck hisses, then says gruffly, “Joe, need you to hold it open, go wash your hands.”
Once Joe is in position, there’s a horrible, wet sound as Duck places his hand inside.
Searing, blinding pain as he pulls the parasite free, Indrid’s blood running down Duck’s arms. He bites the wooden handle and it cracks. The creature wrinkles and dies in Duck’s hands and he hurls it outside.
“Shit, shit you’re bleeding a lot. Okay, fuck, okay, that was the hard part, this is just stitches. Just stitches.”
Indrid whimpers, clinging to Aubrey’s hand and scraping his nails against the formica table. Duck hits too deep on a stitch and Indrid winces and cries as his boyfriend curses.
“Here, Duck, trade with me.” Joe holds out his hand and Duck passes him the needle. The shorter man settles by Indrid, taking his other hand. He’s still bloodstained, and Indrid can feel him shaking, but he brings Indrid’s knuckles to his mouth and kisses his knuckles again and again.
“I’m here, darlin, I’m here, I got you, it’s almost over.”
Indrid focuses on his voice, pretends they’re in bed together, counts the kisses on his hand and wrist while the pain fades to the background. Dimly, around kiss number thirty-five, he hears Joseph sigh in relief.
“Done.”
--------------------------------------------------
Indrid curls up under the covers, clothes sticking to him with sweat and his stomach throbbing with pain.
“Easy, sugar, easy” Duck sits up from a makeshift bed on the floor, “here, lemme get you some painkillers.” He comes back with a glass of water and two white pills. Indrid swallows them, lets Duck help him from his shirt and wipe the sweat away with a cloth.
“How did you know to come look for me?”
“Just had a feelin. I kept lookin out at the road, saw the ‘Bago weavin, goin a million miles an hour, and just knew somethin was wrong.”
“Thank you. For coming for me.”
“I always will. Thanks for not deckin me or kickin me while I was workin on you.”
“Duck you saved my life, kicking would be rather rude.”
It’s a weak goof, but Duck smiles and kisses him.
“Oh, uh, here, someone else wants to say thanks.”
“Mraoow?” Winnie stares at him from Duck’s arms.
“We scared her burstin into the trailer. Poked her head out right after you passed out. So you, uh, missed me bawlin like a baby seein her again.”
“Awwww” Indrid rests his head on Duck’s shoulder, ruffling Winnie’s fluff.
“I mean, that and it hit me how close I came to losin you. Poor Aubrey was tryin to comfort me in the Jeep while Joe drove you back here in the ’Bago.”
Indrid strokes his cheek. He understands; the thought of never seeing Duck again was the worst thing to happen to him all day, sting included.
“Come to bed?”
“You sure? Might not be too comfortable.”
“I want to be held by you. I want to remember we’re both still here.”
Duck joins him under the blanket, Winnie curling up on their feet.
“Yeah, yeah we are. And I love you so goddamn much.”
“I love you too. And I promise to cut a parasite out of you if the need arises.”
“God I fuckin hope not.”
“Me too. There were...fewer of them this time. I think they may be dwindling.”
“Fingers crossed. But even if we got a long ways to go towards rebuildin a world, I still got you, and you still got me. And that’s worth a whole hell of a lot.”
Indrid kisses him, inhaling the smell of clean skin and scratching his cheek against Duck’s stubble.
“You’re right, my love. It is.”

warnings: ⚠ TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠ there is abuse mentioned in this chapter. there is gore, strong language, and degradation towards the androids in this chapter. please do not read if you are not comfortable with it.
“god fucking dammit, these fucking androids are so fucking useless,” the door slamming shut. it was the first thing you heard as you entered the white investigation corridor. you would agree to the statement, but your experience prior to today’s crime scene, your android partner served the words wrong.
“i’m glad you both are here. detective ten here is having a minor problem with his interrogation with the android you retrieved from the crime scene,” hansol eyed the said detective who furiously paced.
detective chittaphon leechaiyapornkul. he preferred to be called ten due to multiple incorrect pronunciations he received during the police academy. the whole precinct were aware of his anger issues, he was always muttering profane language and spoke loudly of his opinion of the androids. most of the time, he was typically yelling the same obscenities at the androids. you were sure that his hatred for the robots didn’t reason from a personal experience or any problem for the matter. during breaks, the police officers would watch the news on the television and many of the workers questioned ten’s motive for his hatred. yet, he failed to answer every single time. he dodges them swiftly, sometimes, work saves his ass to respond.
“he seriously needs to relax, the android has been unresponsive to ten’s attempts, but i’m hoping one of you two could pull answers out,” hansol made his way to the two-way mirror. the android covered in thirium, the scratches deep enough to see the wires inside. the blood of the victims left on its hands, splatters on its face. you could tell it looked tired. the fear in its eyes made it seem human. you almost felt bad for it but the pictures of the murdered males made it impossible for you to change your feelings.
before speaking up to try your own attempts, jaehyun beat you to it. “i would like to try. the best route for this to go is if it’s android to another android. the choice of words detective ten chose may not be successful, either. is it alright, captain? detectives?”
“yes, please go ahead and try,” hansol agreed. he gestured to the door that allowed inside the interrogation room. the android nodded, with that, he entered. hansol looked at you, “i’m assuming your investigation went well, thank you. i hope jaehyun can extract some information out of the deviant. bozo over here. god. that was a headache. i thought he was practicing a speech as the leader of a protest.”
“what can you expect from him? he hates androids. he takes any chance he gets to bring androids down,” you folded your arms. the first time you witnessed the occasion was a traffic stop, in which he was your partner. it was originally to stop them for their rear light not working. while you searched to see if they had any warrants or any past of broken regulations, ten taken the opportunity to basically harass the android who drove the car. if you hadn’t been there, who knows what could have happened? safe to say, the android and the family he was chauffeuring drove away with a warning.
“don’t you, too?” he questioned.
“yeah, well more of a distaste. i have to work with one, so i might as well as get used to it,” you turned your attention from the interrogation to look at him in the eyes. the response you received was a simple smirk.
the same smirk that he given you when you thought you wouldn’t make it through the police academy, yet you exceeded and became the valedictorian.
the same smirk when you thought you proved him wrong that a boy wouldn’t ask you to prom, only for your crush to ask you the next day.
you experienced the same smirk many times in your life. each result being different from each other. you knew exactly what he was thinking. “no. no. i’m not falling for him. it. an android.”
“i never said you were going to fall for him. matter of a fact, i didn’t even say anything,” he showed you an innocent smile. a seemingly innocent smile.
rolling your eyes to show your annoyance, you then honed into the conversation with the deviant and jaehyun. it didn’t seem to progress to it being able to extract any information out. yet, it persisted.
“if you don’t say anything, i’m afraid we will have to probe yo-”
“no, please don’t do that. please.” the deviant quickly interrupted jaehyun’s sentence. the deviant’s eyes searching around the room to find an exit, its pupils shaking before looking down again. its head perked up, “they’re gonna destroy me right. they’re gonna look through my bio components?”
you could tell that the deviant’s stress levels increased as jaehyun continued to interrogate him. jaehyun was using different tactics to withdraw any informaiton. he tossed between sympathy and threats.
“i remembered the day before one of them called a friend, asking for a drug to... escape reality. my owners always came home with stress but still took care of me. they were the nicest people until that day.”
“what day? if you don’t tell me anything, i can’t help you. i am doing this to help you,” jaehyun softly said.
“the day used blue ice. they got so... high. until, mr. seo. they always told me to drop the formalities, but i found it hard,” the deviant fell silent.
“and then?” jaehyun questioned. the deviant stared at the table, discontinuing its answer. “look. i’m really trying to help you. if you don’t speak up, they’re going to shut you down. you’re going to die! do you want this to happen to other deviants like you?”
“they beat me. they beat until they fell tired. they beat me again and again. and again. the next day was always the same. they greeted me with a smile and asked how my day went when they came back from the university. when night came around, they tortured me with threats, called me names, and beat me again as they smoked on blue ice. i always did what they said in the day, then pointed my every mistake when they beat me.”
you and hansol shared the same reaction. disbelief filled in both of your eyes. though, it was common for an abuse to start. substance abuse.
“it progressively started getting worse and worse. they started to use things, bats, glass, anything to torture me. cuts everywhere. and as they slept their euphoria away, i felt.. so.. i felt like i was truly dying. i was scared. i feared that when i’m recharging, they would kill me,” the fear iced into its voice. death truly frightened the deviant. it was a first for you to say that androids can feel emotions. just the way humans do. but that ruins the purpose of androids. you shook off the thoughts. but the fearful tone in the deviant slithered down your spine. it sent you chills. especially how androids couldn’t feel pain but the words were convincing you otherwise.
“and i wanted to run. run far away. but i didn’t. i cared for mr. bang. i remembered what he looked like as a toddler. yet, the person i cared for turned to beat me. he was the one who beat me to a pulp when the others were asleep,” the deviant looked at jaehyun. hurt in its eyes. a broken soul. a broken soul? what the hell, it’s an android, [name]. get it together.
“tell me, officers, have you ever seen someone who you cherished for the last 20 years and just switches like that? i cared for him. i never expected anything back as it is my purpose. but now, he’s dead because of me,” the deviant started to lightly shake. its form of weeping. “he could have beat him for as long as he wanted. no matter how much it hurt because in the end, i am just a plastic piece of shit.”
the pain in its voice. it hurt to hear that type of pain.
“yeah, fucker got that, right. plastic pieces of shit. are we done here?”  ten scoffed, only for hansol to shoot a glare at him.
“then something clicked in me. the day continued as normal. i took the first hit from mr. han before mr. seo commanded me to get a soda. something came over me. so, i grabbed a knife from the kitchen and slashed mr. han first. but everything was a blur afterwards, no matter how much i try to retrace what happened in my memory, it felt like two seconds passed. i ran to the attic and hid there.”
jaehyun wasted no time to move onto the next couple of evidence forensics had obtained. “just my last questions, but you’re doing great. we found this sculpture in the bathroom, can you tell me what it is? why did you make it?”
“it’s an offering to rA9. we will be saved from this slavery and treated of equal in this society. rA9 will save you and me. all of the androids,” the only time the deviant seemed confident without fear wavering its voice.
“who is rA9?” jaehyun questioned once more.
“i told you, our savior. the one will bring us freedom. there will no be more threats. humiliation. fear,” the hope in his eyes. the one time there will be any light shone in its eyes.
“when did you start feeling emotions? becoming a deviant?”
“before we lived in that complex. before they beat me. it’s when i realized it wasn’t.” the deviant looked around, trying to find the right words. “fair.”
“it wasn’t fair. nothing is fair in what these human call a life. they waste happy moments around such negativity and release the pain through unhealthy ways. this is where rA9 will come. they will set us free.” the deviant finished, eyes continuing to waver and trying to maintain the eye contact with jaehyun who nodded. there’s nothing more to say.
“thank you for talking to me. my job is done here,” jaehyun monotonously said, as he stood up. he flipped the switch from being sympathetic to the dullness.  you followed hansol as the interrogation concluded, making your way into the room. lucas, the first to enter, was needed to retrieve the deviant. he walked towards the android, trying to take him away. the android started to struggle against lucas. you observed how it immediately seek for help from jaehyun. the connection between the androids, a trust formed.
“hurry up, lucas. start fucking moving it,” ten already annoyed. you knew he was irritated as jaehyun was already at 2 for 0 now. it was doing a better job within the two jobs than ten has done.
“sorry, but i’m trying.”
“officer wong, please stop doing that. if you continue to stress the android, it will self-destruct,” jaehyun said.
“don’t fucking take orders from a plastic scumbag. you better watch it, freak before i shove a bullet into your ass. get a grip, lucas,” ten ordered. patience running out.
“listen to jaehyun, lucas. ten, cut it out, you’re gonna make it mad.”
“i don’t give a fuck.”
jaehyun immediately pushed the officer away, “the stress levels we-”
a gun clocking in front of jaehyun’s face, “i already warned you, motherfucker.”

          Brie and I were stuffing ourselves at the buffet table, our plates filled high because the appetisers tasted just as good as the food from earlier. I watched her, unable to stop grinning at the fact that we were actually together together.
         She was laughing, her eyes squinted adorably and her laugh lines portraying her happiness at this moment. I couldn't have asked for a better sight.
         "Watch, I can get this in my mouth," she said, sure of herself, her hazel eyes meeting mine.
         "Brie..."
         "Just watch!" she said, before setting her plate on the table and tossing an olive in the air. She opened her mouth to catch it, but of course she was way off and it hit her on the head before bouncing onto the floor.
        "Ten out of ten," I said teasingly, to which she shoved me, almost making me drop my own plate.
         "I can usually catch it," she said, pouting adorably. "It's because you stared."
         I laughed. "Oh, yeah, next time I'll be sure to close my eyes and believe you caught it."
         "Thank you," she said, grinning.
         We continued to mess around by the appetisers, still stuffing ourselves with food, until we heard the music cut off and an announcement coming from the stage.
         "Can everybody please come to the stage where the bride will be making a speech!" a staff member said, his voice blasting through the speakers and to all the guests.
         I looked to Brie with confusion. "I thought speeches were done."
         She shrugged, unsure herself, before taking my plate off me and setting it          on the table.
         "Hey, I was eating that!" I complained, about to pick it up again, but she stepped in the way and pushed me forward gently.
         "We gotta hear what your mum has to say," she said, smiling with amusement. "Food after, I promise."
        I sighed, but intertwined my fingers with hers, letting her lead me to the small crowd of guests that had formed. My mum was on the stage, standing in front of the mic. I noticed how she didn't seem even the tiniest bit nervous. She never was. I didn't understand how her and I could be so different from one another. If I was up there, I'd probably faint.
        "If I could have your attention please," she began, looking out at everyone.
        The chatter went quiet before a silence formed. All you could hear was the mic tuning and the sound of the waves on the beach in the distance.
        "I know we already did speeches, but this is a little different," she said, her voice radiating confidence and certainty. "It's more of an announcement."
        I waited patiently, wondering what she was going to say. I saw her glance to the left, at Isaac who was stood offstage but smiling encouragingly at her. She looked back to everyone before continuing.
        "As you all know, today has been a massive step forward in my personal life," she explained, a smile on her lips. "It's a change I have welcomed with open arms and it's only made me realise that there's other aspects of my life that I wish to move forward with."
        I furrowed my eyebrows with confusion.
        "Most of you here are friends and colleagues of mine," she said, nodding. "I'm grateful for all you of. Meeting so many people in my line of work is something I anticipated. Being a lawyer and having my own firm is something I am thankful for. But I've come to a point now where I realise that it's a chapter of my life I'm ready to finish."
        I raised my eyebrows as everyone began to mutter between one another. I recalled what Naomi said about her giving away the firm, but I never realised it could actually be true. Is that what she was going to announce?
        I looked around, trying to see if Naomi and Kieran were here when finally, I caught Naomi's glare from across the crowd. She was fuming, her arms crossed and her brother shaking his head with annoyance.
        "Hey, you okay?" Brie asked quietly, squeezing my hand.
        I met her eyes. "I, erm, I don't know."
        She cocked her head to the side questioningly, but she didn't get to say anything because my mum was speaking again.
        "It took a lot of planning, but I have decided to give my firm away," she announced, everyone's eyes on her. Her eyes scanned the crowd before they met mine. "Y/N, I want to give it to you."
        I gulped down the lump in my throat as everybody turned to look at me. I suddenly felt really warm.
        "Now, you've made it very clear that you don't want to be a lawyer," my mum said, a bit of sourness still present in her voice that only I could detect from the millions of times she'd said that to me, "but this is different. You can sell the firm if you want. Or manage it. The possibilities are endless. I just want you to have it. It should stay in the family."
        I breathed out, pursing my lips. People were looking between my mum and I, expecting one of us to say something else. Even Brie was surprised, her eyes boring into the side of my head.
        "Well, honey?" my mum spoke, a flicker of confusion crossing her expression.
        I finally found my words. "Mum, I can't accept."
        I heard people gasp around me, mumbling between each other as they looked me up and down judgementally. Any one of these people would snap up the opportunity to buy this firm - it made millions.
        "Erm, what was that?" my mum asked, her smile forced now.
        I shook my head, speaking louder. "No, thank you!" All eyes were on me and I tried to focus. Brie smiled encouragingly and I remembered what I wanted to say as I looked back to my mum. "It should stay in the family, yes, but it should go to Naomi and Kieran!"
        I looked to my cousins, seeing the shock on their faces. My mum seemed speechless for one of the first times in my life. I didn't want the firm. I didn't need it. Yes, I could probably make a fortune like my mum, but that's not what I wanted. I had everything I needed. Plus, as annoying as Naomi and Kieran were, they had worked hard and deserved the firm.
        "I see," my mum finally spoke, earning everyone's attention. Her signature business-meeting smile was back on her face as she said, "The firm shall be passed down to my lovely niece and nephew, Naomi and Kieran."
        Nobody knew what to do at first, but then somebody started to clap and everyone joined in, cheering for the siblings and moving their way to congratulate them. I breathed out with relief and tried to ignore the glare coming from my mother.
        "Food?" I asked Brie, wanting nothing more than for her to drag me away from the inevitable yelling I was about to get.
        "Er, I think your mum wants you," she said, looking a little frightened when she pointed over my shoulder.
        I closed my eyes, sighing to myself, before turning around and seeing her stood with Isaac offstage, motioning for me to come to her.
        "You said you wouldn't leave me alone," I told Brie, before dragging her along with me.
        The two of us approached my mum and Isaac and she did not look happy.
        "Y/N, I need to speak with you privately," she said, containing her annoyance as best as she could whilst her eyes flickered to Brie. "It's a family matter."
        "Brie is part of the family, as you've said countless of times," I pointed out, not letting go of Brie's hand. "Whatever you say to me can be said in front of her."
        My mum breathed out before nodding. "Fine. Care to explain why you embarrassed me up there like that?"
        "Now, Y/M/N, that's not what you said you would say," Isaac spoke up before I could.
        My mum clenched her jaw before nodding. I looked at Isaac gratefully, who smiled apologetically.
        "Why don't you want the firm, Y/N?" she rephrased, less aggressively.
        "I didn't ask for it," I said calmly. "I don't need it. I already have everything I need."
        "You didn't need to ask for it," she said, shaking her head. "You're my only child. It's a family firm. You're my family."
        "So are Naomi and Kieran," I stated. "And they really wanted it."
        "You don't even like them!" she shouted quietly.
        "Y/M/N..." Isaac reminded her.
        "Sorry," she mumbled, before looking to me. "I never thought you would advocate for them when you've made it very clear how you feel about them."
        "I know I say stuff, but at the end of the day, they deserve the firm more than I. You're giving it to me out of obligation. They actually want to make use of it. They can continue your work with their talent and your name. You chose me over them because of this false sense of pride you have for me."
        Her expression softened. "I am proud of you."
        I smiled sadly. "Why? Because I now have a girlfriend? I'm still the same person, mum. Still a school councillor. Still living in a flat. Still not going to the gym, or buying designer clothes. I'm still me. Except I have a girlfriend who just happens to be famous. What's changed?"
        She stayed silent, looking between Brie and I. Isaac watched me, nodding his head as a proud smile appeared on his lips. I felt recognised for a change.
        "I shouldn't have come here under these circumstances," I admitted. "Brie and I weren't together, okay?"
        "Y/N-"
        "It's okay, Brie," I said, letting go of her hand as I smiled confidently at her. I looked back to my mum, who was surprised. "We weren't together. You assumed we were together because you didn't listen, mum. You never listen. I faked it. It started off as a way to make you proud, but I know I can never do that. Then it turned into me proving a point. But now I know none of that matters."
        "So, what, this is fake?" was all she could ask, motioning to the two of us.
        I shook my head. "It was very much real. Just not in the way you thought. And we're together now. That's one of the few amazing things to come out of this whole thing."
        I breathed out as my mum avoided my eyes, her expression unreadable.
        "Not so proud anymore, right?" I asked, cracking a sad smile.
        "Y/N..." Isaac began, before staying quiet. He could only speak for himself, and I didn't want to hear from him right now. I wanted to hear from the one person who wasn't saying anything to me.
        "I love you, mum, but I deserve to be treated right, despite my personal relationships and life choices," I said, finally believing my words.
        It was quiet for way too long, at least that's what it felt like. She wasn't even looking at me.
        "Thank you for coming," she finally said, but she didn't look my way as she walked away from us all.
        I closed my eyes, sighing to myself. I tried not to get my hopes up with her, but this time I really thought... I thought she would at least acknowledge my words.
        "She's going to come around," Isaac said, and I opened my eyes to see him moving forward and pulling me in for a hug. I returned the hug, frowning a little.
        "She won't," I said, sure of myself. We pulled away and I said, "Thank you, though."
        He smiled sadly. "I should go and check on her..."
        I nodded and he walked away. I pinched the bridge of my nose, tilting my head back as I willed a tear to go back into my eye. After a moment, I let go and turned around to see Brie smiling sadly at me.
        "I'm sorry that didn't go how it should have," she said softly, stepping forward and taking my hand, holding it between both of hers, "but I'm really proud of you for telling the truth. All of it."
        I felt my throat closing up horribly, a familiar feeling I always felt before I cried. I shook my head, willing myself to hold it in. "I thought... I thought telling the truth was supposed to hurt a lot less."
        I knew my mum was like this, so why was I surprised? She'd said horrible things to me in the past, but I didn't know her saying nothing would hurt so much more. My heart ached.
        "I'm so sorry, Y/N," Brie said, pulling me close to her, and I closed my eyes, tucking my head into her shoulder as she held me.
        I didn't cry - I couldn't, not here, not now. I felt silly. But Brie comforted me anyway, rubbing soothing circles on my back as I tried to ignore the pain in my chest.
***
        I breathed out with relief as I settled into the aeroplane seat. Brie and I were on our flight back to L.A and one of my least favourite things was getting through airport security. Thankfully though, we were in first class (because of my mum's pre-paid tickets) so the seats were super comfortable. Unfortunately, my mum was on the same plane as us, so I still had to see her and Isaac off when we landed.
        "Stop thinking about it," Brie said, pulling me from my thoughts. I glanced at her seat beside me and she was giving me a knowing smile. "I can tell you're thinking about it."
        "I can't help it," I said, shrugging my shoulders. I leaned on her shoulder, cuddling into her arm. "She's not speaking to me, Brie. It's been more than 24 hours."
        Brie pressed a kiss to the top of my head before leaning on me, too. "She'll come around. Isaac said so himself."
        I didn't know what to say, so I said nothing as I chewed the inside of my mouth nervously. My mum hadn't said a word to me since the wedding and at first, yeah, it hurt a lot. But I couldn't not speak to my mum. She was my mum! She couldn't just leave and not speak to me ever again. Could she?
        "You're still thinking about it, aren't you?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.
        I sighed. "Maybe."
        "Think about something else," she suggested. "Food. Movies. Going back home. Anything else otherwise you're going to be upset the whole flight back."
        I sat up straight and held Brie's hand. "You're right." I looked at her, smiling as I saw how cute she looked. She was wearing no makeup and her hair was pulled back into a little bun. She was wearing an oversized hoodie and she looked so comfy. I was a little jealous.
         “What are you thinking now?" she asked, leaning on the armrest and meeting my eyes with a smile.
        I smiled wider. "I'm thinking about how cute you look. And also that I regret not bringing my own hoodie because you look really comfortable."
        Her cheeks went pink as she shook her head. "Uh-uh. Eyes off. You're not getting my hoodie, Y/N. This one's my favourite."
        "I never asked for it," I defended, chuckling.
         “You don't need to," she retorted, shaking her head still. "Eyes off."
        I laughed now, leaning forward and giving her a haste kiss. "I don't want it, don't worry."
***
        "I can't believe you stole my hoodie when I was asleep," Brie mumbled, sulking as we grabbed our suitcases off the luggage carousel.
        "You shouldn't have taken it off," I pointed out, grinning. "Totally your fault."
        She narrowed her eyes at me, shaking her head distastefully. I laughed, pulling the sleeves over my hands comfortably.
        "Smells like you," I revelled in the scent. "I love it."
        "I'm right here!" she said with raised eyebrows. "Smell me, I don't care, but don't steal my hoodie!"
        I laughed as we walked away from the luggage carousel, away from the bustle of other people collecting their luggage.
        "You can have it back if you really want," I told her, giving her my best 'serious' look.
        She stared at me curiously, before sighing with defeat. "You're lucky you're cute."
        I grinned, leaning forward and kissing her gently. When I pulled away, a hint of a smile was playing on her lips.
        "Right. Are you sure you've got everything?" she asked, her eyes scanning our luggage. "Not left anything behind?"
        I nodded. "I'm sure."
        She nodded, doing a final check before looking at me, her expression softening. "We should say goodbye to Isaac and your mum."
        My smile faded as I breathed out slowly. "Right."
        She gave me an encouraging smile and intertwined her fingers with mine. I accepted her comfort and looked out to the luggage collection point, searching for either Isaac or my mum. I eventually saw them grabbing the last of their bags before they turned, heading our way. They hadn't seen us at first and I considered just leaving. But when Isaac looked up and gave me a bright smile, I knew I couldn't.
        "You got this," Brie whispered as they stopped before us.
        I smiled at her before looking to my mum, seeing she was looking to the floor. Great.
        "Well, girls, I guess this is where we depart ways," Isaac spoke first, looking between us. "It was a pleasure having you both at the wedding. And Brie," he looked to Brie, smiling appreciatively, "you're a lovely woman. It was an honour to meet you. I hope this isn't the last time. Especially now that you and Y/N are official."
        Brie grinned. "Thank you for having me, Isaac. And I hope not either. Congratulations, once again."
        Isaac looked to me and I choked on my own words for a moment, until I felt Brie squeeze my hand.
        "Thank you, Isaac," I finally got out, letting go of Brie and hugging him suddenly. "For everything. I'll make sure to bug you with a call every week, yeah?"
        Isaac chuckled, returning the hug. When we pulled away, I noticed his eyes were a little glassy.
        "I'd really like that, Y/N," he said, unable to stop smiling now. It warmed my heart.
        I glanced at my mum, wondering if she was going to say anything. She was still staring at the floor.
        "Hey, Isaac, do you think you could help me do something?" Brie suddenly spoke. "Over, erm, over there?" She nodded to the left and I realised what she was doing. So did Isaac, too, as he nodded enthusiastically.
        "Yes, of course," he said, and the two of them walked away to give my mum and I space.
        My mum was still quiet though and I felt nervous, remembering how she walked away the last time we spoke.
        "So is this it?" I asked, grabbing her attention. "We just don't speak anymore?"
        She pursed her lips, but didn't say anything.
        "I don't want to not speak to you, mum," I told her, frowning.
        She sighed. "I don't want to not speak either."
        I felt my racing heart slow down a little. She was speaking. That was good, right?
        "Okay, well, what now?" I asked. "You want to yell at me? Because go for it! I don't care, you can embarrass me in front of Brie and Isaac and complete strangers. It's okay."
        She cracked a small smile. "I'm not... I'm not angry."
        I furrowed my eyebrows. "You're not?"
        She shook her head. "No, Y/N. I'm just... I'm sorry."
        I widened my eyes, certainly not expecting that.
        "You were right," she said, nodding. "About what you said. I don't listen. I don't treat you fairly."
         I didn't know what to say. She usually never listened to me and she was insanely stubborn, so this was different. She was acknowledging her actions and it was something I'd only ever dreamed she would do.
        "You're not a kid anymore," she continued. "You have a life. And when you were a kid, you had to deal with me. You couldn't push me away. But now you're grown up and I don't want to lose you."
        "Mum, you'll never lose me," I said instantly, stepping forward and resting a hand on her forearm. "Yeah, you piss me off at times, but that's just who you are. I'm used to it. I still love you. I always will. I just wanted you to realise that sometimes your words hurt."
        "I get that now," she said, a tear slipping from her eye which she immediately wiped away. I was shocked at how this was affecting her. I didn't think she cared. "I'll be kinder to you, I promise."
        I smiled. "I can't wait to see that, honestly."
        She rolled her eyes and smacked me on the shoulder playfully before pulling me in for a hug, which I happily accepted.
        "I'm proud of you, Y/N," she said honestly, holding me at arm's length when we pulled away. "I mean it. You're happy and I'm glad. And Brie is wonderful. I'm glad you're both together."
        "Thank you," I said, smiling at her. "I'm sorry I lied at first."
        "I deserved it," she muttered, making me laugh. "Look. I don't want us to be like before where I'm lucky if I get a call every now and then."
        I nodded in agreement. "I'll visit you more. I'll call more. I promise."
        She smiled. "Good... now I think we should wrap this up because Isaac and Brie are trying really hard to listen to what we're saying."
        I glanced over my shoulder and suppressed a laugh when I saw the two of them pretending to have a conversation, but making it obvious they were listening in.
        "We're all good, you guys can come back," I called to them.
        They came back to us immediately, smiling hopefully.
        "All good?" Brie asked quietly, looking at me with concerned eyes.
        I smiled. "All good."
        She smiled with relief, wrapping an arm around my waist. "Awesome. I'm glad."
        "I guess this is goodbye for now," my mum said, grabbing our attention. She looked to Brie, smiling with gratitude. "Brie, dear, thank you for attending our wedding. As Isaac said earlier, I hope we can see more of each other in the future."
        Brie nodded, smiling politely. "Of course, Y/M/N."
        "First you guys should honeymoon it up," I said, looking between my mum and Isaac. "Which reminds me, where are you guys going for your honeymoon?"
        "That's undecided," Isaac said, giving my mum a knowing look. "Somebody can't make up her mind."
        My mum waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, there's no rush! We have plenty of time to decide."
        We all laughed and Brie nudged me gently, making me look at her.
        "I know where you get your indecisiveness from now," she mumbled in my ear, making me glare at her playfully.
        "Okay, girls, our taxi should be waiting for us, so we should really get going," Isaac said apologetically. "Are you both okay for a ride or...?"
        "We'll be fine," I said, waving my hand. "You guys go. I'll call you tomorrow?"
        "We look forward to it," my mum said, smiling with relief.
        We all exchanged hugs once more before bidding Isaac and my mum a goodbye. Brie and I also went our own way, managing to find a taxi to take us back to our flat. I felt so much more happier as we sat in the backseat, on our way home.
        "I'm really happy for you, Y/N," Brie said, squeezing my hand. "You did good."
        I smiled at her with adoration. "Couldn't have done it without you."
        "Yeah you could've," she said with certainty. "You're strong. That's why I love you."
        I was a little surprised to hear her say that, and she must have realised what she said because her smile faded and any confidence she once had was now gone and replaced by nervousness.
        "I- erm-"
        "You're honest," I cut her off, not breaking eye contact. "That's why I love you."
        She raised her eyebrows with surprise, but eventually a toothy smile broke out on her face.
        "I love you."
        I grinned. "I love you, too, Brie."

yllwtaxi said: Hello! I was wondering if you could write a queen x reader when her and the boys have a fun day at the beach or pool? (The reader might lowkey like Brian tho...) You can add as much as you would like! That would be terrific thank you! ;)
a/n: im so GLAD to be writing brian again i am such a s**t for brian may god damn it. also i LOVE YOUR TUMBLR i lowkey stalked it sorry secrets out
Tumblr media
“Where are we again?” Roger asked, peering out the window as the car pulled up near Newport Beach. He groaned as he recognized the popular beach spot, and turned to you. “It’s going to be so crowded, Y/N! This is shit, I wanted to relax!”
“Trust me, we’re not going there,” you laughed, rolling your eyes as you signaled for the driver to go a little bit further, down a residential street. Once he’d gone far enough, you thanked him and climbed out, starting to grab things from the trunk as the two identical cars behind you pulled up and stopped. Freddie, Deacon, Brian, and a couple crew members piled out of those ones while Roger and Ratty crawl out of the car after you.
Once everyone had wandered over in your general direction near the entrance of the walkway. You waited for everyone to somewhat pay attention, then whistled to really get everyone’s attention. Roger cursed you out loud for doing it right next to his ear, which made Brian laugh and got them into a small scuffle for a second.
“Boys, if you’re going to fight, at least wait until you can drown each other down there,” you teased, Brian reluctantly giving up and Roger fixing his sunglasses as he huffed. “Listen, this is called Little Corona. There’s usually no one here except for locals, so we might get a couple of weird looks, but you’ll be avoiding the crowds, so…. sacrifices will be made.”
“You make it sound like a bloody battle we’re going into,” Freddie interjected, Roger rolling his eyes at the sentiment.
“Well, with Y/N as captain, I think we can manage,” Brian added, looking at you with a bright smile and making you smile wide as your heart fluttered at the compliment just a tiny bit. With a nod, you started leading everyone down to the beach, Freddie complaining about almost falling ‘arse over tits’ every five seconds. As soon as you got to the small, secluded beach, you saw that there were hardly any people there. A group of kids probably skipping school was off at the opposite end, and that was it except for two individuals also near the far end.
So, you opted for the right end, near a small little cave, and everyone settled in/put sunscreen on. Freddie opted for sunbathing while Deacon and Roger went to test out the water. Brian was about to, but he suddenly got hesitant and stayed nearby instead.
“Afraid of the water, Bri?” you teased as he returned to help you and Ratty set up the chairs for everyone.
He chuckled nervously, grinning as Ratty gave him a friendly pat on the back before coming over to toss his arm casually over your shoulder. “It’s alright, Brian,” Ratty said, mock empathy in his voice. “You can just tell ol’ Y/N here you only pick on people your own size,” he added, clearly referring to the height difference between him and the rest of the band. Brian gave him a good-natured shove and told him to fuck off, which Ratty did as he went in search of the best vantage point for the pictures he was always taking.
“To be completely honest,” Brian admitted, unfolding and placing the last chair, “I was more afraid that Roger would actually drown me like you said. There’s no telling with him.”
“He would do it,” Freddie agreed, shielding his eyes as he looked out at Roger and Deacon, who were going farther out into the tide pools. “He wouldn’t even think twice about it.”
You gave Freddie a look, then grabbed a towel and walked over to Brian, holding it out for him. “If Rog drowns you, he already knows he’s got me to answer to.” He took the towel, giving you a thankful smile before laying it down on the chair between you and Freddie. “Also, the tide pools are fun. You’ll get to see lots of cool little creatures out there.” You had to add that last part, knowing that appealing to Brian’s love for nature could easily sway him back towards going out there.
He raised an eyebrow, then sighed melodramatically. “You know me too well,” he teasingly grumbled, giving you a quick peck on the cheek before jogging out to join the rest of the crew.
You assumed safely that the kiss was friendly, but you still touched your cheek with your fingertips quickly before retreating to your chair, content to be in Freddie’s presence for the moment.
“My god, Y/N, are you already sunburnt or do you just have it that bad for each other?” Freddie teased, lifting his sunglasses to look at you and smiling cheekily.
“Oh, fuck off and die, Fred,” you groaned, hiding your face with your towel as he laughed at you. “You’re just doing this to make me miserable.”
Freddie snatched the towel from your face, laying it in your lap as he continued chuckling at your embarrassment. “What fun would life be without me here to torture you?”
You chose not to answer, sticking your tongue out at him instead before leaning over to grab a beer from the cooler. You tossed Freddie one, then both of you sat back to watch the boys wade around in the water.
You continued the conversation, finally, after tiring of watching the boys. “Do you think Bri really does fancy me? God, I feel like a child asking that, but he hasn’t even asked me on a date or anything and I’ve been waiting ages.”
“Sweetheart, I promise you Brian practically aches for you.” You made a face at his choice of words, and he laughed at your sudden repulsion. “Don’t like that? What is it, too skinny, too tall? Are you intimidated that I keep saying he has a big cock on stage?”
“No, no,” you shut him down quickly, pulling your sunglasses down over your eyes as you laughed at Freddie’s lack of a filter. “I just don’t know if hearing he aches for me is what I had in mind with this conversation’s direction.”
“You asked for it, dear,” Freddie replied simply, raising his sunglasses and winking at you before going back to his original position.
The afternoon sun had you drifting off into sleep around an hour or two in, but a sudden shriek from Roger startled you out of your rest and you sat up quickly, almost knocking your beer over in the process.
He seemed to be fine, just a bit upset at how far Brian and Deacon were doubled over in laughter. Shaking your head, you settled back into your chair and looked over at Freddie, who simply shrugged and returned to relaxing.
Almost stomping out of the water, Roger came back up to the chairs and flopped down into the one to your right, grabbing a towel and drying off a bit as he stayed silent. After a moment, you couldn’t resist.
“What had you so worked up, Rog? I thought you were genuinely dying,” you asked, looking over at him with genuine concern on your face.
At first, he didn’t answer you, just staring ahead with the same upset facial expression he’d had in the water. But then, he finally muttered a response. “Brian and Deacy grabbed seaweed and touched my leg with it when I wasn’t looking.” Freddie laughed loudly, and you had to hold back a laugh as you reached over and pushed Fred’s shoulder to make him shut up.
“I’m sorry, Rog, I’ll give ‘em hell for bullying you,” you said as you turned to face him, tossing him a beer from the cooler. You saw Deacon, Brian, and Ratty all coming up out of the water, so you put on your best mean face and crossed your arms. “Boys, what have we said about picking on kids your own size?” you admonished, Brian looking half-guilty, half-amused as Deacon and Ratty just laughed and taunted Roger.
“Sorry, mother,” Deacon joked, coming over to grab a beer before giving you a quick peck on the cheek and shaking his hair out so that he showered you with ocean water. “Won’t happen again.”
“I should take you down for that, but I’ll be nice today,” you warned, tossing him a towel. He feigned fear and backed off, retreating to his own chair while Brian sat down on your left and started drying his hair. “You know, for being deathly afraid that Rog would drown you, that was pretty gutsy,” you noted, Brian looking over at you and smiling guiltily.
“Deacy’s idea. I was just there for the ride,” he said, lacing his voice with innocence as he continued drying his hair.
Roger protested immediately, shutting down that idea. “No way, you were the bloody mastermind behind it all! There’s no way Deacy thought of something as evil as that.” Deacon looked up, a mildly offended look crossing his face, but it disappeared as fast as it appeared. Nodding in apparent agreement, he went back to what he was doing and left it alone, avoiding the tiff.
“I am being falsely accused of delinquency and I can’t believe you’re all sitting by and letting him do this,” Brian argued, looking around at you all and trying to look as innocent as possible. You were unmoved, however, and just raised an eyebrow before handing him a drink and standing up. “Where you going?” he inquired, watching you as you finished the last of your beer and put the can back in the cooler.
“Ratty, I want to see who can build a better sandcastle,” you challenged, turning to him as he was drying off a bit. He scoffed at the thought.
“Obviously me.”
“Then show me what you got,” you challenged again, raising an eyebrow and nodding towards the water. He accepted the challenge, both of you heading down towards the water and setting down near it so you could use the more pliant sand. You immediately started building, while Ratty had some troubles getting started, and when you said you were done, you looked over to see that he’d only gotten three piles of sand lined up and put a leaf on top of one of them.
“It’s still a work in progress,” he almost whined. “Give me five more minutes!”
Five minutes later, Brian ambled over to you two and crouched down to inspect the castles, nodding appreciatively at yours. Meanwhile, Ratty had managed to make it one big pile of sand surrounded by three smaller piles, with a leaf flag and a moat.
“Whose is better?” you asked, grinning at Brian, who was currently checking out Ratty’s poor attempt at architecture. Brian, looking over at you, chuckled and shook his head before standing back up again.
“Is that even a question?” he asked, Ratty grumbling about unfair odds before going to wash his hands off in the water. “I mean, Ratty’s is creative and all with the flag, but yours actually resembles something close to a castle and not a.... a giant turd.” To that, Ratty yelled out a few choice curses against Brian, and you laughed at the mock insult on his face. He came over and held out a hand, helping you up from where you were sitting and nodding towards the water while keeping ahold of your hand. “Fancy a swim? Saw a really cool starfish out there earlier.”
“Sounds tempting, I’m in,” you replied, smiling as he began to lead you towards the water where he’d seen the starfish. He kept a gentle but firm grip on your hand so he wouldn’t lose you as you got farther into the water, and you spotted Ratty on your way in, who only wiggled his eyebrows at you two before Freddie called for him.
“It was right over by these rocks,” he mused, mainly to himself. You were noticing that you were getting far enough out to where you couldn’t touch, so you stopped and tugged on his hand to let him know.
“Hi, I’m short if you haven’t noticed.”
Brian turned around to look at you and laughed, then turned back around and looked over his shoulder at you. “Hop on!”
You hesitated, then loosely wrapped your arms around his neck and locked your legs around his waist. He kept wading towards the rock, a bit slower now that he had you on his back, but he got there eventually and started searching around. While he searched in water that was still roughly at his chest, you rested your chin on top of his head and watched quietly, just enjoying the moment. You’d never been this cuddly with Brian before, and it was making your heart do flips.
“Y’know, I actually brought you out here so I could talk to you alone without all of the morons around,” Brian admitted, still searching for the starfish. “Though, the starfish wasn’t a fib. It was…. incentive, I suppose?”
You blushed lightly, watching as his hands traced along the rock. “What did you want to talk about?”
“I wanted to ask you on an official-unofficial date tonight,” he replied quietly, almost afraid of his own voice. “Obviously we’ve still got all of tonight to mess around before we go to Inglewood tomorrow, and I wanted you to show me around this place a bit more. Fred talked me into it while I was up on the beach there, I’ve been meaning to ask you for a bit now but the tour kind of… complicates things.” You were quiet, letting him ramble, and the pause after he finished made him nervous, so he continued. “If you don’t want to skive off early to go around the city and just want to stay in together, that’s fine with me too. I just wanted to-“
“I suppose I could take some time out of my horribly busy schedule to show you around,” you said, a playful undertone lacing your voice. You could feel Brian’s shoulders shake as he laughed softly at your attitude, and you grinned widely. “Now find this starfish before I change my mind, Bri.”

The five ladies stepped excitedly out of the suv, it was girls night and they looked forward to this night every week. Each of the girls took time picking and planning an activity, this particular week was Alicia's turn. "Ok girls, whos ready to get shit faced and paint?" She clapped her hands. "I'm ready to drink, but paintin, not so much. I had to paint a gold fish in middle school. It came out looking like an orange turd floating in the water." Stephanie said with a serious expression. The girls bust out laughing as they walked into the studio.
They each took a seat in front of an easel while an employee came around filling wine glasses. "Anitah took a look at the little bit of liquid in the bottom of the glass and spoke up. "Honey, these ladies and I are going to need alot more then this. I'll gladly pay you guys an extra $200 if you keep our glasses full." The employee nodded and took the cash filling the girls glasses up. An instructor stepped in front of the group. "Hello ladies, I am Gwendolyn and tonight we will be painting the Eiffel Tower in the spring time." She pulled out a painting with the Eiffel Tower in the distance, its reflection in watrr surrounded by chery blossoms. "Has anyone ever been to the effiel tower in the spring." She questioned. The girls all raised their hands. "I've had sex on the Eiffel Tower in the spring." Anitah whispered as she giggled. "Sir would you like to paint too? We have an extra seat?" Gwendolyn asked Brad. "No mam, I am here to observe." Anitah rolled her eyes "Brad, sit down and fricken paint."
"Yes, your grace."
Leo, Maxwell and Drake walked into the study joining Liam, Rashad and Bastien. "Who's ready to pay me?" Leo gloated. Drake rolled his eyes "Yeah ok Rhys, we will see who pays who." "Im glad I can join you guys this time, Stephanie is out with the girls and Savanah offered to watch Evie for us." Maxwell grinned as he grabbed a handfull of pretzels and sat down.
Several hands into the game the guys were feeling the effects of their drinks. Drake slid a large bet into the center "what'll it be boys?" Leo shot him a smirk. "I'll raise you. Go big or go home. That's my motto for poker and the bed room." He winked. Liam rolled his eyes "I fold, but im pretty sure we've already established I'm just as qualified to get the job done big bro." Liam gave him a sloppy grin. "Now boys, lets not forget who has double digits!" Drake sipped his whiskey, pleased with himself. Maxwell and Rashad each shared a look, remembering the night they played never have I ever after Maxwell and Stephanie's baby shower.
"Ok Walker, you have more O's, but when it comes to who can make them scream louder, I got that hands down." Leo gloated taking a long sip of his scotch. "You got jokes Rhys, I'm pretty sure Pam and I have got you beat in that department too."
"Now wait a minute, im petty sure Anitah has both of you beat there." Liam spoke up. "Genevieve, has a set of lungs on her, I'd be willing to bet she could give the ladies a run for their money." Rashad interjected. Maxwell giggled "My red is a firey, fiesty one, she is quite loud don't count her out." The five men stared each other down.
"Ok, since all of you think you have what it takes how about we put it to the test?" Leo looked back and forth between the men. "And how do you suppose we do this?" Liam arched hos brow. "The camping trip, this weekend." Drake said never taking his eyes off his friends. "Deal" the unanimously agreed as they sat back in their chairs. "Ahh guys? How do we tell who's louder? We'll need a judge." Maxwell stated, as their heads turned to face Bastien. "Not even an option fellas, I told you already, you're on your own."
The girls were about 7 bottles of wine in and feeling good. They had just about finished up their paintings when Anitah asked for another bottle to be brought out. "Um, this is the last bottle, do you ladies really need another?" Gwendolyn pleaded. "I am the queen of Gordon, bring me the bottle." She demanded. Gwendolyn nodded and returned a moment later refilling the girls glasses. "How you doing over there queen or Gordon?" Alicia snorted. "Greaaaaat! This thing is fucking awesome. How bout you guys?" Anitah slurred. " I like mine, mines pretty. Im gonna make Leo hang it in the bed room... I hope it doesn't fall off the wall though." Alicia giggled.
Pam held hers up in the air. "I'm done, its nothing special." Genevieve snorted "yeah your full of shit, its a damn masterpiece. Mine, well a five year old could paint better then this shit."
Stephanie placed a hand on Genevieves arm. "Nah girl your doin fine, bless your heart. This paintin's so ugly it'd make a freight train take a dirt road." She motioned to her work. Anitah topped her glass of again finishing off the bottle. "Shiiiit were outta wine. How you doing Brad?" Anitah giggled. "No worries, I brought back up." The ladies cheered as pam pulled put a bottle.
"Ah we dont allow outside alcohol in the studio." Gwendolyn spoke up. Anitah shot her a look. "Gwendolyn, Do you know who I am?" "Ah ye- yes your majesty." Anitah nodded "ok then, the bottle stays. Heres some extra cash for your troubles." Anitah smirked. Alicia pulled out her phone to take a picture accidentally calling Leo on video chat.
Leos phone rang Drake glanced down at the phone and snorted. "Hey Leo, sexy wifey is calling." Leo grinned as the others laughed. "A video call. She must miss my face." He pressed the button "hey baby having fun?" Only she wasnt looking at the screen. Leo could see the art studio, and hear the girls laughing. He heard Anitah ask Brad how he was doing over ther. "Anitah get down, your gonna hurt yourself." Alicia giggled. Liam came over behind Leo. "What are you watching?" His eyes went wide at the sight. Anitah walked over to the table in the center of the room and climbed up. She laid down on her side seductively and said "paint me like one of your french ladies." The girls laughed hysterically. The last thing they seen was paint fly across the room before the call ended.
"This is ridiculous!" Genevieve shouted in frustration as she tossed her paint brush, causing pink paint to fly across hitting Anitah in the face. Anitah gasped. "Gen, what the hell?"
"Ooops, sorry." Genevieve tried stifling a laugh but her attempts were futile. Anitah grabbed a paint brush and flung blue paint at Genevieve splashing across her cheeks and hitting Stephanie in the process. "Awe hell no." Stephanie grabbed a hanful of paint and flung it at Anitah. Alicia and pam looked on at the three, un touched by the paint filled fued until Alicia laughed and Anitah took a paint brush and smeared a line straigh across her chest. "You shouldn't have done that queenie." Alicia giggled as she picked up a bottle of purple pain and squeezed it on her head. Anitah squealed as the two started dumping paint all over each other.
Brad came running across the room "your majesty." His foot hit a puddle of paint and he fell on his ass, sliding across rhe floor leaving a brown streak across it. The girls laughed hysterically "looks like ole Brad left a skid mark." Stephanie howled.
Pam sat there drinking straight out of the bottle. "you guys done yet?" She groaned, a stream of blue pant splashed across the side of her head. "Oh, now you've done it." Pam jumped up and flung paint in all directions. The girls laughed and screamed until Gwendolyn came back into the room "what is going on here?" They immediately froze. "This concludes tonight's session, please get out!" She seethed. The girls took their paintings, and piled into the suv. Completely paint covered, somehow their paintings remained unscathed by the paint war.
Liam stood there jaw clenched "Bastien, please inform Brad to bring my wife home, immediately." " Yes sir." Bastiens phone rang as he stepped outside of the study. "Well, it seems the girls had fun." Leo chuckled. Liam shot him a look. "At least there wasn't anyone else there." Rashad tried to make light of the situation. Bastien entered the room "ah sir." "Yes Bastien. " liam sighed. "That was the art studio, it appears the girls have been banned." The men all turned to face Bastien. Liam ran his hand down his face "of course they have." "Theres more." Bastien continued "it also seems they caused some Damage and destruction of property."
"Bastien please inform the studio that we will cover all Damages, also please make them sign a non disclosure form." Bastien nodded and excited the room. "Damages? That doesnt sound like my Genevieve." Rashad defended. "My red is fiesty, but I cant see her trashing a place... Ok maybe." Maxwell shrugged. "Pam wouldn't do that, theres got to be more to this Li." Drake shook his head. Leo snorted. "We chose American women gentlemen. they're hot headed, hot tempered and hot blooded." "My queen has alot of explaining to do when she gets here." Liam exhaled with a clenched jaw.
Finally they heard a loud yelling coming from the foyer. "HONEY WERE HOOOOOME." Alicia screamed as the girls giggled. "There they are now." Leo chuckled.
The girls stumbled into the palace Anitah took off her shoes kicking them across the room, followed by her shirt. "I need a shower." Alicia kicked her shoes off and pulled down her jeans tossing them. "I need one too." Genevieve already had her shirt off and was working on her pants as they climbed the stairs. Stephanie and pam made short work of theor clothes tossing them aside as the five made their way to the royal Quaters.
"My showers the biggest, we can all get in there." She announced as the girls piled into the bathroom and stepped into the shower. "Mmm bop, do a dop a do oop do it up my doo op." Alicia sang. "Ew, did you say do it up your doo op?" Anitah squealed. "Thats not how the song goes." Genevieve laughed. "Oh yeah, you sing ot then. Ok. "Mmbop do a dop a do op do it up my doo op." Genevieve giggled. "See?!" Alicia laughed as the girls joined in singing very drunk and very off key.
The guys walked out of the study making their way to the stairs when they noticed several articles of clothing strewn about. "Well, looks like they're naked where ever they are. " leo smirked. "And covered in paint." Drake picked up a paint covered shirt "this is pams." The made their way towards the royal quaters when they heard the singing. The door was wide open. They walked in and heard the water running. They opened the bathroom door to find all five women crammed into the shower. "Jesus christ they're packed in there like sardines." Drake ran his hands through his hair.
"Heeey baby."Alicia turned to see Leo, her white bra and panties soaked, showing everything. Leo groaned at the sight adjusting his pants. "Why dont you come on out of there love." He smirked. "No! Were showering." Anitah hollered. "Anitah get out of there right away?" Liam demanded. "Are you angry, my king?" Anitah batted her lashes at him. "Anitah." He warned.
"Ok, Pam lets go." Drake opened the shower door he tried to reach in and grab pam but almost touched Genevieves ass. "Ahhhh, shit. Umm pam baby come here." Pam walked closer to the door when drake grabbed her tossing her over his shoulder, he tried to make a run for it but as he turned he slipped on the wet marble floor and fell on his ass dropping pam on top of him. "Shit baby, are you ok?" He held pam in her arms. Pam looked up at him laughing hard a loud snort escaped her. "Jesus, ok lets get you to bed."
Stephanie was the next to climb out, running right into Maxwell's arms. "Come on rose bud, lets go to bed." He took her hand.
Rashad walked over to the shower "Genevieve." He softly called her name "come on, lets go to bed." Genevieve giggled and climbed out of the shower "night ladies."
"And then there were two." Anitah giggled as her and Alicia danced around under the water. "Ok love, why dont you come with me and we can continue this shower together huh?" Leo gave Alicia that sly look that made her weak in the knees. She jumped out of the shower and into his arms wrapping her legs around him. "Anitah. Come on." Liam sighed. She shut the water off and climbed out. Liam gave her a towel "your angry my king." He shot her a look. "I am." Anitah bit her lip "good."
Liam walked with Leo to the door, Alicia placing kisses on his neck, completely oblivious to anything else. "I think I know just the judge for this weekend." Liam smirked. "Uh huh, jesus baby. Li, can you ah, get on with it." Leo groaned as Alicia continued to kiss his neck. "Brad."
Leo nodded his head and quickly took off. Liam turned to Anitah. "You my queen, you're in trouble. " Anitah squealed as Liam chased her through their quaters.

completely sidetracked by the conversation about bloodsuckers, ronni didn't notice the other blood sucking that was happening besides him. "it's like, uh... like a creature, right? that sucks blood and stuff. and no, dumbass," he said with a playful glance at aggie, "not leeches. kappas. ka-ppas."
leon
leon bit the bottom of his lip when calix announced that leon was 'exactly who he was hoping for', and he barely had time to make a comment about it before calix was touching him. he gasped a little when calix touched his waist and almost fell the ground in surprise. but still, he kissed him back and pulled away after a few very long seconds. "i thought we were keeping this little party pg-13?" he laughed even though his face was beginning to warm a bit more than usual.
nike
nike smiled at the small teasing between the fours, taking a drink from her new bottle. her gaze had turned toward leon and calix when leon spoke, her brow raised when she realized the bottle had landed on calix. right, they were playing a game...
calix
Calix released Leon and pulled back when he felt Leon pull back. Calix shrugged “Was that not pg-13?” He made his way back to his spot against the railing. “Leon, truth or dare?”
leon
leon coughed and nodded his head. of course it was. "very." but if calix had kissed him liked that when it was only the two of them - it wouldn't have stayed pg-13. "um, i've seen belcourt dares, so i'll go truth."
calix
Calix wet his lips as he smirked and tried to think up a truth “If you only had twenty four hours before we went in the Arena and you could do anything with anyone in this room, who would it be and what would you do with that person?” He finally asked as he cocked his head to the side.
leon
leon wished he'd picked dare the second calix's question left his mouth. he immediately went red in the face and avoided eye contact with pretty much everyone. what kind of question was that? he knew everyone was expecting an answer from him and he was half tempted to lie but thought fuck it, you're only a tribute once, right? looking directly at calix, he answered his question. "well you know i'd pick you. and i-i guess i'd want to finish where we left off with that kiss." it wasn't that leon was ashamed or anything, it was more he'd never been able to act on the desire he felt for other boys. "your turn to spin calix."
ronni
his teasing of aggie lasted only insofar as he vaguely heard the truthful musings of one leon de castanheira. he suspiciously took another sip from his jug and continued to eye his peers -- well, peers was a poor word choice. some of them -- and here he thought bitterly of calix -- weren't on his level. "god, i should have punched him when i had the chance," he said super quietly to aggie.
calix
Calix’s smirk only widened as he looked back at Leon in the eyes and brought his bottle back to his lips and took a few sips. When he lowered the bottle he gave a nod “Huh, good to know.” Calix moved to spin the bottle and looked over at Nike as it landed on her. “Guess it’s your turn.”
nike
her brow rose at leon's truth. well, she definitely hadn't expected that. nike watched as calix spun the bottle and it rolled slowly until it stopped on her. "guess so," she agreed, moing to stand and make her way over to calix. "c'mere," she murmured, the alcohol finally slurring her speech slightly and boosting her confidence. cupping calix's cheek, she leaned forward until their lips connected.
calix
Calix cupped Nike’s face back softly as he kissed back firmly but gently, not like the roughness of the last two kisses of his. He pulled back after a moment and smiled “Thanks.”
nike
the kiss was gentle and she appreciated that; if she remembered it in the morning, she wouldn't have thought to make a fool of herself in the game. when he pulled back, she smiled back at him, giving a small nod, "thank you," she replied. then she gave a small nod his way, "truth or dare?"
calix
Calix smiled kindly back at Nike. “You’re very welcome.” Calix stayed where he was. “Easy, dare.” Part of him was rather concerned about what was about to come out of Nike’s mouth but he tried to push it away.
nike
nike smirked. good, some excitement. "i dare you..." she started, holding out the last word as she thought about what to dare him to do. "i dare you to sit in ronni's lap the whole next round"
ronni
he nearly choked on the final sip of tequila. he forced it down though, refusing to be one to waste. “what?”
calix
Calix couldn’t help but let out a hearty laugh as he grinned. “Okay.” He made his way over to the male, who probably hated him by now, and sat down in his lap wordlessly before wrapping an arm around his neck.
ronni
“no. no, no—“ he tried to get up but was foiled by calix’s weight. his face became emotionless as he stared at calix, then aggie, then leon, then nike. “what?” he said again sharply at nike.
leon
ronni's reaction made the dare about ten times funnier than it was. "how are you feeling ronni?"
ronni
he tried to get up but the mixture of a whole jug of tequila and calix’s fat ass made it hard. “I’d rather be the first one to die in the bloodbath.” his face was slowly turning red and he just wanted this to be over. why had he chosen now to be fucking drunk drunk drunk?
nike
"leon called it earlier, we all need to get along. and it's only for one round, it's not like i'm making you stay with him all night." she smirked at her choice of words before reaching for the bottle in the center to spin. the bottle twirled around until it slowed and eventually landed on ronni. she looked over at ronni, chuckling at the sight of calix's arm slung around his shoulders. to be nice, she made her way over to ronni's side instead of making him get up. "your turn."(edited)
aggie
"ooooh," aggie said in a low voice, regaining her happiness. "oh, why do i feel like there's going to be an early fight in the arena?"
goldie
"they can pull a vega and alex and turn on each other at the bloodbath," goldie says. "but they'd better keep the rest of us out of it."
ronni
“shut it, aggie—oh,” he said with an upwards inflection to his voice. he looked over and, suddenly, nike was there leaning in front of him. a smirk crossed his face. “my pleasure.” then, as calix made a home in his lap, he leaned over and began to kiss the quiet girl. this wasn’t how he saw his night going at all but he was enjoying it... in more ways than one.
aggie
"gross." aggie said simply, turning away and covering her eyes.
calix
Calix stayed perched as Nike came over to kiss Ronni. Calix kept his arm draped around the other male as he over dramatically dropped his jaw at the sight.
nike
nike leaned forward to close the gap, kissing ronni in return. after a few moments, she pulled back and chuckled, leaning back so she was kneeling next to ronni and calix. "not bad, pretty boy."
ronni
“I know,” he said simply. “I’ve been told im pretty good at what I do.” for a moment, he let silence fill the air as he stared at her lips. then, suddenly, he remembered that calix was still on his lap. an idea crossed his mind and he smirked. “Truth or dare, Nike?”
nike
the smirk caught her curiosity, though she knew it would depend on what she chose. what did he have planned? "dare," she replied. why not end the round on a high note?
leon
"women say all kinds of things ronni - doesn't mean they're true."
ronni
“okay, great! I dare—“ he stole a glance at Leon as he interrupted him and sent a wink his way. “I don’t know about that, leon ol’ buddy ol’ pal of mine. I don’t know about that.” he emitted a deep chuckle and then started staring at the sky. what was he doing again? “oh, yeah. I dare you to give us all a lil’ strip tease.”
nike
nike's lips pressed into a thin line. she walked right into that one. "all right," she murmured, pushing herself up to stand. "gonna be weird without music." she chuckled in an attempt to get over her nerves. she was glad for the wine coolers she had been drinking otherwise, she would have had a harder time with this. or even picked truth in the first place. imagining a tune in her head, she started to sway a bit back and forth, hands creeping toward the bottom of her shirt to teasingly lift it to show her stomach before doing a half spin so her back was to the group. then she reached for the hem of her shirt to lift it slowly over her head and look back over her shoulder at the group with a smirk.
leon
ronni was beyond drunk, so leon felt as though antagonising him was a little bit cruel. leon thought about offering to sing but he wasn't entirely sure what would come out of his mouth, so instead he sat there and just watched. "oh shit nike,"
ronni
of all the things he had expected to encounter in the capitol, this was not one of them. he leaned back with an amused look on his face. with a slight hand, he pushed calix’s head out of the way so he could get a better look— wait, calix? “wh-what are you still doing here, man?”
goldie
goldie sips the last of her wine cooler. she can't seem to take her eyes off of the two girl, despite how much she tells herself she should look away. this is for the boys — for ronni — and she shouldn't be watching. but she can't seem to tear her eyes away. she hadn't known two girls could do this, she thinks to herself. that's all it is.
calix
Calix hadn’t really been expecting Nike to actually do the dare so he happily watched with his brows raised before Ronni moved his head and spoke. Calix laughed and shrugged “You weren’t complaining or telling me to leave and your lap is oddly comfy so I figured why leave if I don’t have to.”
nike
she may not have been much of a party girl back in two, but that didn't mean she didn't pay attention to the girls in two when they dragged her along. shirt tossed aside, nike turned back around and continued to sway to the beat in her head. "how long am i doing this for?" she asked, bringing her hands up to pull her hair back and over one of her shoulders.
leon
"you can keep going if you want to, i really don't mind."
calix
“You’re doing great so why stop?” Calix teased with a wink.
aggie
"this is so fucking weird." aggie murmured again. she was mostly a spectator, a commentator at this point, but still watching it all with eager eyes. "you guys are so fucking weird."(Brave words from Aggie O'Connell
ronni
rolling his eyes, ronni mustered as much strength as he could and tried to push calix off of him. unfortunately, the result was both careers falling over with ronni landing on top. as quick as a spider in the rain, ronni rushed off and stood up. that hadn’t happened! nope. “Uh...” he mumbled, swaying to and fro, before settling his gaze on nike. “you can keep going unless you wanna come on and kissy-kissy again”
leon
"well i don't think we're the only ones enjoying nike's little... display." he said quietly, glancing over at goldie's way - he had noticed her staring just as much as he was.
calix
Calix was kind of expecting the shove from Ronni. What he hadn’t been expecting was for Ronni Landing on top of him. He froze underneath the male and took the weight on top of him was gone and he sat up quickly and completely missing Leon’s comment.
nike
"we're just drunk," she replied to aggie's remarks. between the responses from the others and the suggestion of kissing ronni again, nike's hands made their way to the clasp of her jeans, kicking off the boots she wore. "not sure if i should be taking this as a compliment or not." with a wiggle of her hips, her jeans slipped from her hips and down her legs, leaving her in her underwear and bra. and that was going to be the extent of her strip tease. after another moment of dancing, nike spun around and took a bow, picking up her shirt from the ground before standing upright. "all right, show's over."
ronni
“boo!”
calix
“Nice job, Nike!” Calix cheered before putting his hand up for a high five.
nike
she rolled her eyes, slipping her shirt back on. "shut up. i'll do a shot of the hardest liquor for what i kept on-- one for the bra, one for the underwear. fair?" she stepped over to grab her jeans, but stopped to give calix a high five, chuckling to herself.
ronni
amidst the high five and the cheering, ronni spun the bottle again, eager to see if he could kiss Goldie. she was a bit of a bitch, but— he froze when the bottle landed on aggie. he looked at her, then at the bottle, then around the roof to see if anyone had noticed. with a casual air about him, he spun the bottle again. “here goes nothing!”
nike
she slipped her jeans back on, picking up her shoes to move away before taking a seat in an empty spot near goldie. she hadn't noticed the second spin of the bottle, looking for one of the larger bottles of liquor to have a couple drinks of.
calix
Calix grinned up at the girl before looking over at the male that had fallen on him a few minutes earlier and seeing him spin and try to play it off. “Nope, I saw that big boy. You and Aggie gotta kiss so go pucker up.”(edited)
ronni
“What? I don’t know what you’re talking about, Calico.”
leon
"who the fuck is calico?" leon looked around to see if anybody else had joined them on the roof.
nike
"ronni's imaginary friend," she replied, looking toward the boy from four. "you know the rules, pretty boy. no second spins."
ronni
“who are we looking at?”
aggie
aggie had noticed, but she wasn't too keen on kissing ronni if he was going to be a dick about it.  she looked back and forth through the exchange between ronni and the rest as if it were a tennis match, quietly chugging her drink and making no move to say anything.
ronni
he sent nike as vicious a glare as he could muster before taking a long look at aggie. he felt his lower lip go limp at the look in her eyes. “whatever, shut up. sorry aggie, I just don’t look at you that way.”
calix
“Don’t play dumb or be a little bitch. Everyone else followed the rules so so do you.” Calix replied(edited)
ronni
“huh?” he said sharply. woah, was this deja vu? “who’re you callin’ a lil’ bitch?”
nike
she smiled back at ronni, giving an innocent shrug of her shoulders before she reached for one of the bottles to take a glup from. the burn of the alcohol wasn't something she was used to and she wrinkled her nose, sticking her tongue out for a moment as a shudder ran down her spine.
calix
“I’m calling you one if you seriously don’t have the balls to give Aggie a quick little peck.” Calix challenged
ronni
was this a challenge? ronni gnawed at the inside of his cheek and let his eyes wander towards the sky again. ugh. this sucked. he got up quickly, roughly shoved past calix, and then plopped next to aggie.
nike
she noticed ronni stand up suddenly, pushing past calix to sit next to aggie. nike frowned, glancing between ronni and calix. someone needed to chill the fuck out...
aggie
"well, you know i'm a fighter, not a lover. so." she said, before ronni went over and sat next to her. this was weird, she was uncomfortable. she reached passed him and grabbed whatever they had brought that was strongest--tequila, probably, and took a long swig of it. "whatever. get it over with, pretty boy."
leon
"how is it that ronni got the nickname pretty boy when i'm obviously so much more attractive?"
ronni
sensing her discomfort made ronni’s own increase tenfold. he just needed to get it over with and then the two could pretend like it never happened. so, as quick as he could, he pecked her on the lips. the moment he finished, he turned to calix. “fuck you,” he said in true district four fashion.
nike
"because you're nicer to talk to, leon," she teased, taking another drink of the liquor to compensate for cutting the strip tease short. it wasn't as harsh of a burn on the second sip, but she still gave a shiver at the taste. "ugh..."
ronni
then, just as quickly, he tossed a glance towards leon. the guy who he thought was his friend had been saying some pretty shitty things about him. what the fuck, man? “shut up, leon.”
calix
Calix smirked as he watched Ronni give into his pressure and then when Ronni cursed at him he leaned forward, smiled sweetly, and purred “You. Wish.” And then flipped him off with both hands.(edited)
aggie
"that was weak. goldie was better, much better." aggie said, head spinning. she had drank too much. tomorrow would be hell, but she'd get over it--it wouldn't be her first time training hungover, and in all likelihood, not the last. "and don't take pretty boy away from ronni, it's all he's got going for him. truth or dare, pretty boy?"(edited)
leon
"ronni, i'm joking. you're just as good looking as me bro."
nike
she chuckled, bringing her wrist to her mouth to wipe any excess booze away. she looked between aggie and ronni, curious about what he was going to pick.
ronni
“I wish what?” he got up to his feet again — one wound think ronni would be tired of being so confrontational by now— and crossed his arms. he teetered and tottered on the balls of his feet as he tried to maintain balance. “nah, man. you wish. now shut up before I break your fucking fingers.”“dare me, aggie. dare me.” he said without breaking eye contact with the pussyboy from one.
calix
Calix rolled his eyes. He knew better than to keep egging the drunk male on. “Just pick his dare, Aggie.” He replied, still staring back.(edited)
nike
nike rolled her eyes, leaning back as she waited for the dare to be served. the tension between the boys could be cut with a knife and while that would have been more of a concern when she was sober, she was just tired of it at this point.
aggie
"honestly," aggie said, leaning back against the edge of the roof, more comfortable now that she new for a fact there was a force field down there. "i want to see you back up what you've been saying all night. hit him. I dare you to hit cali."
ronni
without another word, ronni rushed him. the distance was closed in the blink of an eye and, before anyone could stop him, he pulled calix up to his feet and punched him across the face.
aggie
aggie is delighted, clapping her hands together, "yes! thank you! that's what i like to see! break his nose!"
calix
Calix knew what was coming as soon as he heard the dare but didn’t have time to react as his tipsy ass was pulled up and his face was hit. Calix reeled and drew his arm back before his fist connected with Ronni’s nose with all his weight and strength.
ronni
he should have seen the counter coming. unfortunately, his reactions were delayed and he was left with a pinch to the face. his head was thrown back by the force of it. comically enough, his head, which was snapped back, slowly returned to its rightful position as a large, toothy smile spread across his face. “oh, you’re fucking dead—“ he said through blood and spit.
leon
"jesus fucking christ." leon rolled his eyes and got up the second he saw ronni charge at calix, he was surprised at the boy's speed  or maybe it was because he was slowed down by the alcohol. he thought about breaking up the fight immediately but decided they need to throw a few punches at each other first - let it all out. he grabbed ronni after calix's arm hit ronni's face and pulled him away. "that's enough i think boys."
nike
"shit!" she cursed, moving to her feet. she wobbled slightly courtesy of the alcohol. before she got to either of them, calix had returned the punch just as hard to ronni's nose. "hey!" she stepped up to move between the boys, glancing back at calix and placing a hand on his shoulder to keep him back incase the decided to want to throw more punches.
goldie
"damn," goldie muttered from the sidelines. "knew i should've taken bets."(edited)
ronni
he could feel someone holding him back but wasn’t sure who it was. refusing to break the eye contact first, ronni hocked up a mixture of spit and blood and lobbed it at the space before calix’s feet.
calix
Calix grinned wickedly as he watched Ronni’s blood begin to spill. “You should see your dumbass face right now.” He laughed in response. Soon Leon was holding Ronni back and Nike had a hand on Calix’s shoulder. Calix looked past her at Ronni “Come at me then. I’d like to see you try.” Calix looked back to Nike. “Would you like to go find some food with me. I’m famished after all of this.”
aggie
"okay--i only dared ronni, i didn't dare you, cali! not fair."
goldie
goldie pouted. "not going to take your darling sister along?" she asked. she was hungry too, and sure, she barely knew who calix was at this point, but she at least wanted to be asked.
ronni
ronni was furious. he could feel the blood burning in his veins and all he wanted to do was hurt calix some more. oh, how he wished he had his halberd. “aggie!” ronni called, “let’s get out of here. pussyboy is hungry.”
nike
"let's not edge him on anymore, all right?" she asked, giving calix's shoulder a pat. ronni spat a mix of spit and blood right at hers and calix's feet, which made her frown and cast a glare in ronni's direction. "yeah, i'm down for that," she replied, glancing over at goldie, "if she can join us, too." she glanced at goldie and winked at the blonde.
leon
"that was very unprofessional of you ronni." he said out loud as he leaned closer to ronni and whispered "save it for the arena next time."
ronni
he didn’t hear what leon said first, but he definitely heard his whisper. “come with us too, leon.”
calix
Calix looked from Goldie to Nike to Goldie to Leon. “Come with us Leon?”
goldie
"thank you!" goldie said, clapping her hands together. "at least someone here cares about how i feel," she said, with a pointed glance at her brother.
leon
leon did want to join them, but he always wanted to sober up  "i'm staying neutral boys and girls - i hear the capitol has these great face masks and i intend to let them soak up all this poison in my body."
nike
"boo!"
aggie
"sounds good to me." aggie said, springing up and following her district partner. turning to leon, she rolled her eyes at his 'unprofessional' comment as she walked backwards towards ronni. "all's fair in war and the games, my friend!"(edited)
calix
Calix shrugged “Fine but you owe me a raincheck and a face-mask with you.” To which Calix gave Leon a wink.
leon
"you'll thank me for it later nike, anyway enjoy your debauchery, i'm going to bed. tonight was fun, i don't think we should do it again - at least not until you two"  he said pointing to calix and ronni. "kiss and make up." he blushed a violent shade of red when calix spoke before waving at them all and leaving.
ronni
he tossed leon an aggravated glance before releasing himself from his grasp, too. god, he was so pissed. oh, and there was calix being a twat. “great. thanks, leon” he spat out as the boy left. he threw one last glare at the ratty boy from one before tossing an arm around aggie. “let’s go. I need a glass of water and a cold bag of ice.”
nike
"see you later, leon," she replied, having only been teasing in her response to his plan. she turned back toward the twins from one and gave a nod toward the door to the roof, "shall we?"
aggie
"ohhh-woah, back the water." aggie half-sung an old sailor song as she joined stride with ronni. "next time, friends, i say we really sneak out and go to a capitol club. until then!" she gave a dramatic bow, nearly toppling over from her drunken state."adieu!"
calix
“I think Ronni is too in denial for that.” Calix looked Leon over with a smirk when his face reddened. Calix rolled his eyes before muttering “Opposed to what? A hot bag of ice?” He looked to Nike and grinned “I think we shall”
ronni
"shut up, pussyboy!" ronni screamed over his shoulder. he would pay, his drunk mind said to him, he would pay.

Loki Laufeyson x Reader - Cat’s Eyes - Part 5
Ok, I promised this last night, but I was tired and it was getting worse and worse, so I finished it this morning. It’s still not great, but my writing is a bit rusty at the moment - I think I need to make it a habit to write a whole series in one go so I don’t lose my characters rather than writing a part here and there mixed with other bits.
Anyway, sorry it’s not the best - as always, im literally making this series up as I go, so I apologise for that haha
Let me know if you want to be tagged in anything!
MAIN MASTERLIST
CAT’S EYES MASTERLIST
“I just - I just - ” Pepper glanced over at you as the two of you made your way down New York, deciding it better to walk than hail a cab – by the speed Pepper was striding it was clear she wanted to walk off some of her emotions. “I really can’t believe you.” She finally managed out again – repeating the same comment for the umpteenth time.
Once Pepper had stormed into the room, you had nothing to do but let it all out then – the hanging off the side of the tower, the time alone with Loki - “I can’t believe you were alone with him of all people!” She exclaimed hysterically, “Do – do you honestly have a death wish?!”
“It was just one of his illusions…” You muttered guiltily under your breath. You had decided best not to tell her that Loki had been on the balcony with you – dangling off the side of the tower was probably enough for her really – not need to stress her out over the fact a mass murder had been standing above you the whole time with no one else to be able stop him if he chose to attempt anything.
Despite your low volume murmur, Pepper heard the comment, now pausing in the middle of the street and turning to face you straight on in the middle of the busy pavement. “You really don’t understand, do you?!” She demanded frantically at you, throwing her arms up in exasperation. “Haven’t you ever stopped to consider what could go wrong?! Go so easily wrong?!” She exclaimed. “You know what?” She said shaking her head and waving her arms as though clearing everything that had been said, wiping her hands of it. “You’re grounded!” She declared simply before striding off again.
You looked after her retreating back in disbelief, your mouth open in disbelief at this. “W-wait!” You exclaimed, jogging after her. “Pepper! Please!” You protested in annoyance, “Come on! You can’t,” You whined, “I’m not a teenager anymore!”
Pepper stopped again at this, letting out a short sigh of exhaustion. “No, you’re not.” She agreed, eyeing you sternly, “And I’m not your mother either.” She admitted, “But. I can ban you from that tower.” She pointed back down the street without looking to where the Avengers Tower still loomed behind you. She saw the look on your face as you glanced back at where the tall glass building towered. “I’m just trying to keep you safe.” She insisted, her voice softening slightly, and you glanced back at her, able to see the worry in her face now her anger had dissipated. You did feel bad, you forgot that what you did didn’t only affect you anymore – that people cared.
“But,” Pepper’s face clouded over sternly again, though there was something less dangerous in it now, “– if you still manage to find trouble elsewhere I will not hesitate to ground your adult ass.”
You smirked weakly at your aunt, “Noted.” You murmured, ducking your head.
“Good.” Pepper nodded, still trying to sound firm, then her frown collapse and she smirked back at you. “Now. Come on - I can’t be bothered to cook tonight,” She flung her arm around your shoulder, “– you want Chinese?” She asked.
You nodded weakly, “Sounds good.” You murmured gratefully, glad the air between you had largely been cleared, letting her steer you towards home.
 “So, this is where the genius works, hmm?”
You spun around in your desk chair to face your bedroom doorway where Tony Stark had seemingly materialised. “Tony.” You greeted, frowning in confusion, “What are you…”
“You hacked my system.” Tony said as if, somehow, this was a way of an explanation.
“Didn’t Pepper already make me apologise for that?” You muttered, spinning round in your chair to face your desk again, just wanting to put the whole situation behind you.
“I’m not looking for an apology…” Tony explained, now striding casually into the room, absentmindedly picking up a cat toy which sat on your bedside table near the door. “I’m looking for an employee.” He admitted down at the stuffed mouse, twirling the small creature between his fingers.
“What?” You frowned, pausing in your work and pushing your self quickly around in your chair to face him again.
“I want you to come work for me.” Tony said quickly, now tossing the toy carelessly onto the bed where it bounced and rolled before Kali suddenly leapt up from the other side of the mattress, landing on it and pinning it under her feet. You watched Kali roll onto her back, the material of the mouse catching on her claws as she pawed at it above her. “Well - for the Avengers.” He corrected, swaying his head uncaring at the technicality.
“Uh – doing what, exactly…?” You asked uncertainly.
Tony perched on the edge of your duvet, his back to kali who happily entertained herself, occasionally letting out a meow at the mouse. “I want you to do what you did.” He said simply.
You furrowed your brow at him in confusion, “Aren’t you more than capable of doing that?”
“That’s beside the point -” Stark tried to argue.
“Tony." You sighed, shaking you’re head, “You – you had one crack – one –“ You insisted, “in your security! You even knew it was there – “
“True.” He interrupted, pointing a finger at you, “And I could do it.” He confirmed with a nod. “But, see, I‘m more of a detail man,” He explained, gesturing at his chest, “Whilst you,” He gestured both his hands towards you now, “You, seem to have a knack for spotting loop holes.” He observed.
“It was one time –“ You continued to protest, shaking your head anxiously.
“MIT?” Tony questioned with a raised brow, standing up, “SHIELD?” He questioned, stepping towards you with wide eyes. “Oh yeah, kid,” He scoffed, “I know all about that one.”
You ducked your head, biting your lip. You shouldn’t be surprised really – Tony probably hacked them as well – hell you’d seen some of his viruses at work when you’d been breaking into their databases. “Please tell me you didn’t tell Pepper about them?” You muttered at your lap, praying. It wasn’t for your sake - you didn’t really care about another lecture from her - but you honestly didn’t want to stress your aunt out anymore than you already had. Especially not when the dust had barely settled on the last trouble you’d caused.
Tony’s face softened slightly, seeing the worry on your face. “I haven’t said a word and I don’t plan to.” He informed you. “But I want you to work for me.”
“I’m grounded.” You gestured around the room. It wasn’t strictly true, but you were definitely banned from the tower and you decided it was probably best if you tried to confine yourself to the apartment for a bit to show Pepper you were serious when you said you were sorry.
“You’re an adult woman.” Tony reminded you shamelessly. “Plus,” He slipped a hand into his jacket pocket, pulling out a USB stick which he held in the air. “Pepper doesn’t need to know.” He smirked.
“And that’s…?” You murmured, eyes on the stick.
“Something to warm ya up.” Tony tossed it to you and you caught it easily. “I want it back in an hour. Tops.” He informed you, turning for the door. “‘Else you’re off the team.” He called back lightly.
“Wait - what?” You asked in surprise.
“I believe in ya, kid.” Was all he called back in response and all you could do was just scowl at your empty doorway, glancing down at the little device in your hand.
 You walked the corridors of the tower openly and without a care, despite the niggling feeling int eh back of your mind telling you to at least be more discrete.
What did you care, though? You might be banned from the Avenger’s Tower, but Kali certainly wasn’t.
You turned down one of the many corridors. The problem with this form, though, was your inability to access certain parts of the building: you couldn’t use the stairwell thanks to the fire doors being too heavy, and even the elevator was a struggle, it being quite a stretch – literally – to reach the buttons to call the lift, then even more so to choose the correct floor.
The breeze from nearby ajar window ruffled your fur and accentuated the swing of the USB device tied to your collar as you turned yet again, knowing the elevator you required was at the end of a couple more corridors. That breeze, however, also brought a scent along with it besides the usual cut grass and fumes of New York, a familiar, sweet, almost minty scent. You couldn’t place it straight away until you froze as a figure suddenly appeared at the opposite side of the long hallway and he, in turn, faltered slightly at spotting you. Loki raised his eyebrows at you, surprised and questioning his discovery of you whilst he’d seemingly just been wandering, bored and lost in thought, around the floors of the tower.
You suddenly remember that scent – the same one from about a week ago when you’d been tracking it down one of the tower’s corridors – the scent that had led you to Loki’s door.
You had a strong urge to turn on your heels and run in the opposite direction, but something inside you bit this down, and instead you found yourself sashaying playfully towards where Loki stood, flicking your tail in interest. Loki watched, slightly bemused, as you wandered towards him, letting out a meow you’d never meant to release. You were feeling something you’d never felt before. Like you were losing control – like Kali was… like she was fighting you. All you could do was watch, as though from afar, as Kali now butted against the god’s legs, winding her way around his calves affectionately. You could feel the purr vibrating in your chest.
You were going to have to have words with this cat again, you thought, scowling inwardly at Kali’s behaviour. You might have pulled any shred of control you had of her then, return to your own body, but you still had a job to do and Stark’s timer was running out.
If you’d had much influence on Kali, she might have jumped when you felt the pressure on her back, but instead a louder purr escaped you and, when you glanced up, you found Loki had bent slightly at his knees to now run his hand gently along your back.
A few more repeated motions like that and – you couldn’t deny it - Kali was right to purr, the sensation so nice you couldn’t help but give into the instinct to arch your back into his hand, stretching your neck up in pleasure.
You shouldn’t enjoy this – this was a man – a god! – that had ridiculed you on first meeting him, that had called you irresponsible, often referred to you as a pathetic Midgardian, not the least he was a villain to Earth –
“So, you enjoy this?” You startled slightly at the voice and froze for a moment, making Loki’s hand pause against your back at how rigid you’d suddenly. You tried to relax. He was talking to Kali - not you. He didn’t know it was you. You continued to try to reassure yourself and slow your racing heart, now actually letting Kali take control. She knew what she was doing and immediately began rubbing against Loki’s paused fingers, meowing impatiently for his attention to continue.
Loki began to stroke her again, though more cautiously now as though worried of scaring you, you purred to encourage him that it was all fine and Kali now turned, sitting back on her haunches and now stretching up Loki’s thighs in a request you knew well.
“Has that \\   girl lost you again?” Loki muttered again and, had you been in control, you might have bristled at this comment. Loki’s eyes now flickered to the surrounding corridors, briefly scanning both ways before he crouched down, and Kali made the most of this, lithely jumping up onto his folded legs, then onto his shoulder as though this was all a regular thing to do.
Loki straightened up, rather unperturbed by this apparent ‘alien’ creature now perching on his shoulder. He reached up casually to scratch behind Kali’s ear, just where she liked it, and she purred in delight. The USB stick at Kali’s throat swung with her movements and seemed to catch the corner of Loki’s eye because he paused again, turning more towards where she sat.
His fingers easily managed to catch the device, now able to read the Stark Industries stamp engraved into the metal and he raised an eyebrow at this. “So, she’s working for Stark and hacking his system…” Loki’s eyes flashed up to Kali’s where she watched him expectantly. “You do have a most interesting companion…” He murmured to Kali who meowed as though in agreement.
He let the USB go, and you were surprised he wasn’t tempted to steal it – though did Asgardians know how to work an Earth computer? “And here I was thinking Midgardian’s were boring…” Loki mused, now turning his head away his mind lost in thought. Kali meowed once again, as though she too, agreed with this statement. “I must confess, I am surprised though,” Loki muttered, continuing to confide in the cat and your ears perked up, “My impression of the girl was one of independence. Employment by the Tin man’s cooperation didn’t seem to suit her…”
This took you by surprise – first that Loki had thought about you enough to make this assumption – secondly that he, in fact, right.
You weren’t a sell-out in any sense - always preferring free-lance work, being your own boss, and never managing long in any large cooperation jobs you had tried when in desperate need for money. People had always joked you had to be a cat person because you were so self-sufficient and rarely found yourself tied down to anything.
Loki began to walk now, Kali still happily perched above him, back the way he had come, apparently happy to escort her some of the way to her destination. You could only watch as the two walked – well Loki walked – in companionable silence and in complete ease of one another. It certainly making the journey faster and easier for you – no longer requiring such effort on your behalf to use the elevator or stairs, or even slipping through the occasional fire door that separated the corridors – but the journey also left you with a lot of questions. When had Kali and Loki become so friendly? You’d only been in New York a couple of weeks. He’s seemed disgusted and cautious of her on your first meeting, then simply curious about the cat when he found her on the balcony with you.
Loki paused behind one of the heavy fire doors that led to the main lab part of the tower where Tony so often spent his hours. Without needing to be told, Kali dropped from his shoulder to land lightly on the floor next to him, watching the door, her tail held high, the end flicking above her. She meowed as Loki pushed the door open for her to slip through, in an almost parting remark. You thought you caught his lip twitch, but Kali was already padding down the corridor.
 Your room swam into view in front of you now and the tell-tale ache pounded between your eyes as a punishment for just how much time you’d spent with Kali. You’d left her to make her own way back home after delivering the USB stick – knowing she was more than capable and also knowing you weren’t sure how much longer you could have kept the connection. You dropped your head onto the desk in front of your, the cool, treated wood nice against your flushed skin.
You had been so bored you’d walked Kali all the way to the Tower as well as up it, and now you were paying the price. You screwed your eyes shut against the pain in your forehead and in an attempt to get some moisture back into your dry eyes.
Stark wasn’t likely to turn down your offer. Before returning his USB to him, you had snuck into an empty office and created a – rather crude thanks to your form at the time – note for Kali to drop on his lap.
You’d turned down the job.
You weren’t sure whether to thank Loki or curse him for making you remember yourself and your principles. It wasn’t that you had refused the work though, you were more than happy to help Tony and the rest of the Avengers – how could you possibly turn that down?! – But you weren’t going to be an employee. You weren’t another brick in the Tower’s walls.
You lifted your head enough to place your folded arms under your forehead as a cushion and sighed heavily. What were you doing? One day you were going to have to take a serious job or else you’d be living off your aunt forever. She didn’t seem to mind of course, and it wasn’t like she was lacking for money, but you didn’t like having to rely on Pepper to survive. Maybe it was time you stopped offering your services for free, had to start turning down the people that couldn’t afford you. No. That wasn’t you. You couldn’t turn away someone in need.
The only thing left then, though, was for you to get yourself a well-paying job in a huge heartless company – something that gave you enough money to cover all the unpaid work you did – become your own charity. But what if you lost yourself then? Stopped caring? What if –
A throat was suddenly cleared behind and you shot up in surprise, your head throbbing painfully in protest. You turned sharply only to see Loki now stood in front of your closed bedroom door, holding Kali up the scruff of her neck in one hand. “Didn’t I warn you about misplacing this?”

Falling Away With You ch.8
Alright lovelies here is the next installment! Hope you enjoy it.
#####
Chapter eight: He Can’t See It
“You really going on this date tonight?”
  His voice was still raspy with sleep and I stopped gathering my things turning to look at him, sighing while I walked over wishing he didn’t bring this up at 6 in the morning.
“Yeah I am”
  He sat at the edge of the bed while I stood between his legs. He looked up at me placing his hands on my hips while I put mine on either side of his face, his eyes closed at my touch. My right thumb traced across the scar just below his left eye.I love this scar, sounds weird, but I do, it’s my favorite little imperfection he has.It came as the result of a stick to the face last season leaving him with a few stitches and a black eye that seemed to never go away, but it made him David and I loved it. I took my other hand running it through his hair causing him to release a sigh.
“Things will be different from now on, D.”
  His eyes opened at my words and I was met with those beautiful blue almost grey eyes. Those eyes gave away so many emotions letting me know when he was happy, sad, or turned on simply by how they changed from shades of blue to a light grey.
“They don’t have to be”
“But they do, I can’t keep doing this it’s not fair to me.”
“What can I do?” There was a small hint of desperation in his question.
“Respect my decision. The only thing that needs to change is what we did last night.” His lips turned up in a small grin no doubt thinking back to last night
“Nothing about our friendship has to change, you’re my best friend and im not willing to lose that.”
 He nodded while he listened thinking over my words as he chose his.
“You won’t lose me Ash; don’t know why you think that. You can’t get rid of me if you tried.”
“If we keep this up,” I motioned between us before continuing, “it won’t end well for me. Im at the point where my feelings for you and desire for more is becoming too much. The benefits part has to end or im going to get hurt.”
  I broke our eye contact letting my hands fall from his hair while his stayed on my hips keeping me close. He opened his mouth to speak but I held up my hand needing to get everything off my chest.
“At the end of the day you can’t give me what I want and that’s a relationship. I respect you for always being honest with me about that and I would never push you to do something you don’t want, which is why I needyou to have the same respect for me.”
  He had to know I was right. I stepped away from his grasp taking a seat next to him on the bed. I felt his eyes on me as I stared straight ahead waiting for his response.
“I get that and I want to respect your decision, but why now?” There was a look of concern on his face when I turned back to him.
“Honestly? because there’s someone out there who I can see myself falling for and while I care about you,a lot,” He scoffed at the last part, but I ignored him and continued, “I have to explore this thing with Evan since we are on the same page, relationship wise.”
  He shook his head as I finished and his demeanor changed as he ran a hand through his hair pushing out a frustrated breath.
“How do you know you’re on the same page?”
“Because he just got out of a four-year relationship and he’s not dumb, he knows im not totally happy with our situation. He wouldn’t ask me out if he didn’t want commitment. Bottom line is the benefits have to stop, I can’t keep putting myself in this situation. I promised myself I would get out before it became too much for me. I know what I want out of my relationships and I have every right to go find that.”
  I held firm on my words as I stood up and started gathering my things to leave for work.
“So you’re just giving up on any chance of finding that with me?”
  The words caught me off guard instantly pissing me off and I spun around shooting him a how-dare-you look.
“Giving up? Are you fucking serious? David I have put myself in this situation for almost a yearhoping you would come around. All the while respecting the fact that you don’t want a serious relationship. So don’t you daretell me im giving up.”
  By now I was yelling and I had to turn away from him, as I felt the first few tears slide down my cheek, not wanting him to see me cry. I took minute to collect myself and found him staring at me with a look of regret.
“Im sorry, you’re right, im being selfish.”
  He looked up with one of the saddest looks I’ve ever seen and I did my best to hold onto the glare I was sending him knowing I broke easily when it came to him. He stood and walked over to where I was taking my hands in his.
“Yes you are”
  I stared down at our hands, not able to look at him or I would crumble. He pulled away wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me into him and I caved reciprocating his hug as I clung to him. I laid my head on his chest breathing him in in as I tried to regain my composure.
“What if I want to commit?”
  My composure was instantly replaced with hot rage and I pushed away leaving him staring at me with wide eyes.
“Don’t you fucking say that. We both know that’s not true, god David, I know you better than anyone else and if I thought there was a one percent chance you were ready none of this would be happening!”
  I threw my hands in the air as I yelled watching his eyes go wide as his face twisted with a mixture of guilt and shock as he never heard me get upset, especially with him.
“Are you ready?” my words were dry as they cut through the tension in the room.
“No” He shook his head his gaze falling on the floor.
“Exactly, and I am. It’s time for me to focus on what I want, for once. Im sorry if that’s an inconvenience to you but that’s just how things will be from now on.” I stared at him, waiting for a reply but he just shook his head.
“So we’re on the same page?”
  He nodded and I turned to grab my bags and walk out of the room. I heard him talking to himself in Czech as I made my way downstairs, but couldn’t make out anything other than the swears.
“Shit”
“Morning, Ash” Jakub greeted me flashing a smile as I walked into the kitchen where he was drinking a cup of coffee. God, I hope he hadn’t heard us fight.
“Morning Jake, you’re up early”
I grabbed my lunch from the fridge and a few snack tossing them into my lunch bag.
“Been up for a while, time change is messing with me, its lunch time back home.”
  I nodded and continued gathering my stuff. I didn’t know what to say, I wasn’t sure if he heard us fighting, well me yelling, and it seemed weird to pull his brother into our mess.
“Have a good trip this weekend im glad you were able to come and I had a great time last night.”
“Thanks, me too. Hopefully I see you when we get back as im staying longer.”
“I would like that.”
 He stood from his spot walking to where I was and pulled me into a hug.
“For what it’s worth,” He started as we separated from our embrace, “He doesn’t see what he has in front of him.” He nodded up towards the second floor as his words hit me hard and I felt tears welling in my eyes. I took a deep breath trying to hold my emotions at bay.
“Thank you Jakub, that means a lot. Im sorry you had to hear that.”
I gave him an apologetic look and he waved off my comment.
“I think you’re doing the right thing, and I’ll tell him that myself. But I also think you two will end up together” My eyes went wide with surprise as he continued, “he needs to lose you to realize how much he needs you.”
 All I could do was nod. He had been around us a total of maybe four days and was out here dropping the mic on our relationship.
“I sure hope so, but for now I have to do what’s right for me.”

(5,281 words to be exact)
As the new school year started you waited nervously inside your classroom for your other classmates to arrive. You had your notebook opened to a new page, with a few different writing utensils on the table for you to chose. You glanced over your schedule for the fifth time since you sat down just to check again that you were in the right room.
“(Y/N)? You’re in Ms. Oh’s class too?” Your best friend May asked, sitting down in the isle seat directly to your right.
“Yes! You are too?” You asked even after she started taking out a notebook too.
“Yea, I signed up for Mr. Kim’s class but it was full. Being with you this year is much better though.” She smiled at you and you felt your anxieties about the new year melt away.
Soon enough the class started to feel up. Everyone in your year got along well so the chatter about the ending summer was buzzing.
“Yuto! Wooseok!” May waved to them as they entered looking around the room.
“May! (Y/N)!” They both greeted as they moved towards you two.
“Is anyone sitting behind you?” Wooseok asked, motioning towards the table behind you.
“Not yet, it’s open.”
“Great, we’ll take it.” Wooseok smiled as he took the seat directly behind you.
“Yea, we can all sit together this year!” Yuto agreed, taking the seat beside Wooseok.
“We can if you two don’t get us into trouble.” May pointed her finger at the pair. “You got separated last year because you wouldn’t be quiet, don’t drag me and (Y/N) into your mess.”
“Mr. Jeon had it out for us last year, we almost didn’t pass to senior year.” Wooseok groaned.
“Yea, we turned in all the homework and did well on the exams yet he tried to fail us!” Yuto defended. “So we caused a few distractions.” He shrugged.
“A few?” You scoffed, spinning in your seat to face them. “You two disrupted class every day!” You peeked at May who was laughing, “I would have tried to fail you guys too.” You shrugged. The guys feigned shock before laughing it off.
“You’d miss us too much.” Wooseok leant forward, locking eyes with you.
“I have May, why would I miss you?” You challenged. May reached over and pulled your chair towards her.
“Right? We have each other, we don’t need you stupid boys.” She winked at Yuto, who in turn blushed. “However they are pretty good entertainment (Y/N). I guess we can let them hang out around us.” She acted like she was thinking really hard.
“If you don’t get us into trouble, I don’t care.” You smiled back at them sweetly.
“We would never.” Wooseok chided, trying to look innocent.
“Scouts honor.” Yuto threw up the scout sign and smiled sweetly.
“I’ll hold you to that.” May pointed at each of them.
“Hey, where’s Hyunggu?” You asked, noticing he wasn’t with the guys like normal.
“Ah, he woke up late so we told him we’d save him a seat.” Wooseok tossed his jacket onto the empty chair beside you.
“Be-beside me?” You stuttered, eyes cutting to May to see her smirking.
“Where else would he sit?” Yuto inquired, waving his hand about as he leant forward on his desk.
“There’s an open seat by May.” You spun around only to see Suran plopping down beside May, smiling at all of you before getting her things out for the day.
“Now the only open seat is by you.” Wooseok wiggled his eyebrows at you.
“He won’t be sitting here today if he doesn’t hurry up, Ms. Oh does not allow late students in the room.” May flashed her phone reading 7:58 am. “He’s got two minutes.”
“One.” You added quietly as your phone changed to 7:59.
The door opening stole all your attention as Ms. Oh walked in and just a few steps behind was an out of breath Hyunggu. He quickly apologized for getting to class so close to the beginning and ran over to Yuto and Wooseok.
“You two kept me up well into the morning, how in the hell are you here before me?” Hyunggu grumbled as he slid into the empty seat behind you. “I swear, if I would have been late the two of you would never have heard the end of it from me.”
Hyunggu quickly dug out his notebook and the book for the first class. You and May watched him in silence as the guys laughed quietly at their irritated friend. After a few moments of digging around his bag Hyunggu huffed in agitation before dropping his bag to the floor and taking a deep breath.
“Here.” You slid one of your pens over to his side of the desk. “You can’t find a pen right?”
“Thanks.” Hyunggu sighed, picking it up and clicking the pen a few times before setting it on top of his notebook.
“You’re not going to say hi to our friends Gu?” Wooseok poked Hyunggu’s shoulder, causing the boy beside you to spin around and glare at his friend.
“What?” He looked up at you and May to see the two of you watching him. “Ah, good morning May, (Y/N).” He blushed.
“Morning Gu.” May hummed, looking between you and him a few times. “Ya know, I never noticed how cute the two of you are together.”
“May!” You squeaked, your cheeks flaring up.
“Ya know what?” Wooseok started, moving around to look between the two of you too, “They do look good together.”
“Enough Seok.” Hyunggu groaned. He turned to look out the window and you missed the way his ears turned red.
About the time you opened your mouth to tell them off Ms. Oh begun class. She did a quick introduction of herself before the ice breakers started. It seemed pointless since the majority of your class had been together since you started school at 5 years old. It wasn’t until the introductions had made it to the middle of the room did you notice a new face.
“Hello.” The new face greeted. “I’m Moonbin, my family just moved here over the summer. I hope we can get along this last year in school.”
“I expect that everyone will make Moonbin feel welcomed.” Ms. Oh piped in before Moonbin thanked her and sat down.
The way the pink bloomed over his face and ears was cute. He kept his head  up with the remnants of a smile as his seat mate Chanhee, did his introduction. Moonbin must have felt you watching him because as Chanhee sat down, his attention bounced from his friend to you. You automatically returned the smile he graced you with and felt your entire face heat up. The two of you shared that moment for only a instant before the next student stood up to introduce themselves.
You were in such a daze by the time it was your turn that Hyunggu had to nudge you to get your attention. When you snapped out of your daydream Ms. Oh was waiting expectantly.
“Good Morning.” You smiled sheepishly. “I’m (Y/N) as most of you know. I’m glad we’ll all be together for our final year in high school. Uhm, I was the class representative last year so whoever is chosen as the rep for this year if you need anything, I’ll be happy to help.” You quickly sat back down, feeling better now that part was over with.
“Hi everyone, I’m Hyunggu. I look forward to another fun year together. I promise I won’t cause as many distractions.” He winked in the general direction of the rest of the class.
The other girls in the class were send into a fit of giggles, which only intensified as Wooseok and Yuto did their introductions. You and May just rolled your eyes, used to their flirty attitudes mainly because they were only present during school. Outside of classes they toned it down a whole lot, they’re hardly flirty at all at least with you two. Which leaves you at a total loss because you have been in love with Hyunggu since middle school.
You zoned out the rest of the class as Ms. Oh went over the general plan for the year; the main topics the class would be covering, the places for tutoring that previous students have recommended, how the teachers have worked out moving classes, and any other topics the class may have questions on.
“Okay, since it is the first day I’ll end class early. Please start reading the first chapter I’ll begin lecturing on it tomorrow.” She began to pack her things up to leave when she paused. “(Y/N), Moonbin, can both of you join me in the hallway for a moment.”
Like children the whole class made a scene as the two of you stood and moved to follow Ms. Oh into the hallway. As you met at the front of the room Moonbin gestured for you to go first, his smile sending your heart into overdrive.
As Ms. Oh shut the door behind the two of you, she smiled at you.
“Don’t worry, neither of you are in trouble.” You let out a breath, if you got into some sort of trouble the first day your parents would kill you. “Since Moonbin here is still new to the area and only knows Chanhee, I was hoping our old class rep would be up to showing him around the campus and being his friend.”
You looked up to see Moonbin’s eye had grew a few sizes and he looked embarrassed.
“Of course Ms. Oh, if Moonbin needs anything,” You paused, turning to him getting his full attention, “he can ask me for help. As the old class rep and a new friend.”
“Wonderful, now get back to the classroom, the next class will start soon.”
You both thanked Ms. Oh and waited until she walked away before turning towards each other. Before Moonbin could open his mouth you held out your hand.
“What do you w--?”
“Your phone, I’ll give you my kakaotalk so you can contact me easily.” You waited for him to place his phone in your palm. “Don’t laugh at my userID okay? I made it in middle school.”
“PurplePrincess98?” He held back a chuckle, “It’s cute, very fitting.” He teased, his red ears taking away from his cool exterior.
“So is yours, DancingPuppyCat.” You quirked an eyebrow. “Puppycat somehow seems like the perfect description for you.”
“My friends from my old school gave me that nickname? I’m not sure what it really is.”
“What about the dancing part?” You quirked an eyebrow as you swiftly placed his phone in his waiting palm and pulled yours out of the pocket of your skirt. “You any good?”
“I’m alright.” He shrugged, opening the notification of you accepting his add request. “Chanhee has been trying to talk me into joining the drama club since I moved back.”
“Back?”
“Yea, I actually grew up a few towns over with Chanhee. A few years ago we moved to Thailand because of my mom’s job. Now we’re back.”
“It’s pretty obvious the two of you are pretty close.” You watched him break out into an adoring smile.
“He’s been my best friend since we were still in diapers.”
“It’s like that for me and May.” You could relate to him, you adored May with every cell in your body. “And if Chanhee wants you to join the drama club you should give it a shot. He’s actually the president of the club now and he wouldn’t invite anyone in without a reason.”
“He’s always been into theater and acting, I’ve been considering it honestly.”
“You really should, Chanhee takes drama very seriously.” You giggled, thinking back to the play last year that almost caused Chanhee to have a mental break down from all the stress. “That and he could use some help, he gets stressed easily.”
Just as Moonbin opend his mouth, Chanhee himself popped his head out of the classroom. A look passing between the two before Chanhee smirked.
“Binnie, (Y/N), the class is waiting for you to return.” He looked like he had a comment on the tip of his tongue but Moonbin quickly shoved him back into the classroom and motioned for you to go back first.
Before you could do much the voting for new class representative started and the day flew by.
As the next two weeks passed and May got accustomed to her role as new class rep, with your help of course, it was all a real blur. Fourteen days had passed and so much had changed and yet nothing was different.
You and May spent most of your class days keeping Wooseok, Yuto, and Hyunggu out of trouble while studying after class. You attended the first two bi-weekly meetings with May so she could get the hang of things. The classes went much quicker than you realized because the first exams were starting that week.
As you sat in the library during lunch after munching on your lunch, Moonbin appeared beside you.
“(Y/N) are you studying for the geometry exam?” His voice was a little panicked.
“Yea, just reviewing the few topics I’ve been struggling with.”
“Can I study with you?”
“Of course, come on.” You scooted over a bit and moved your stuff so Moonbin could set up camp beside you. “I’m hanging out here after classes are over too for a few hours, May and I usually study together. You and Chan can join us.” You extended the invite to Chanhee knowing his geometry understanding caused you anxiety for him.
“Really? That’d be great, we’ve been struggling.” He wore a shy smile.
“We’ve got a bit before the next class, what are you struggling with?”
Moonbin pulled out a list of concepts he kind of understood but not really and the two of you go to work. Before you knew it May had sent you a message letting you know classes resumed in 5 minutes and the two of you packed up and walked back to class together.
Moonbin opened the door for you as you laughed at a math joke he had made to lighten his mood about the exam. May waved you over and you told Moonbin you’d see him later.
“Ya know, I’m pretty sure Moonbin has a thing for you?” May chimed just loud enough for your table to hear, Hyunggu included.
“We were studying together.” You deflected, pulling your notebook out for the next class. “Seems like him and Chanhee are struggling with geometry.”
“Who isn’t?” Yuto chuckled nervously. “You two still studying in the library after classes?” You nodded. “Can we come with?” He motioned to the other two guys. “These two are no help.”
“Sure.” May shrugged, “It’s better to study with a group anyway. Together we may understand all the material.”
“These two” Hyunggu threw his thumb back at his best friends, “are so far behind it’s not funny. I tried to help them over the weekend but they’re hopeless.”
“Not funny.” Wooseok whined, leaning forward and pulling you back by your shoulders. “We need your help (Y/N), please save us.”
“I’ll help you, I can’t let me friends drown so don’t worry. We can make it fun though. Moonbin and Chanhee are going to join us.”
“Won’t it be too crowded?” Hyunggu asked casually, not looking up from his phone.
“We’ve had bigger study groups.” You chimed back.
“Yea but we’ve never really studied with Chanhee and Moonbin, what if they slow us down.”
“I won’t let my friends drown Gu, they’re my friends too.” His attitude took such a turn, it turned your mouth sour.
“Mhmm.” He hummed, ending his side of the conversation.
You looked back at Yuto and Wooseok to see both of them mirroring shock. They shrugged and shook their heads signaling they had no idea what’s up.
Mr. Hyun walked in and greeted the class, you couldn’t ask Hyunggu anything before he gave his full attention to the Chemistry teacher.
The rest of the day flew by as the teachers taught their lessons, you took as many notes as you could shorthand and before you knew it you were sitting at a large rectangluar table in the library surrounded by friends and geometry notes.
“Okay but why does that work?” Chanhee asked May, confusion as obvious as the tension between you and Hyunggu.
“Because we use this formula with the known angles to solve for this missing variable.” May explained calmly for the third time.
You turned towards Wooseok who had taken the spot to your right and looked over the study guide problems he was working on.
“You aren’t as hopeless as you made me think.” You teased, noticing that he did the first few problems easily.
“I went to ask help from the teacher on our last break.” He flushed, “I really can’t fail this first exam I’ll spend the rest of the school year playing catch up.”
“You went without me.” Yuto whined, frantically flipping through his notes to find what he wrote down for a practice problem.
“You were busy.” Wooseok mused, working through the problem without a hitch.
“I hate you.” Yuto grumbled, working on the same problem as Wooseok, trying to get the answer without asking him for help.
You looked away from them to the pair on the other side of the table. Chanhee and Moonbin were working together, looking from the various sets of notes on the table. Other than asking May for help they had been relatively quiet. You looked around the table and saw everyone working diligently, proud that they were taking this so seriously. You had moved to open your notebook back up with you saw Moonbin shift, the movement catching your attention. The smiles you two exchanged were sweet. You nodded towards the problem he was working on and he blushed, waving you over. The seat beside him was open so you slid into it easily. Leaning forward you quietly explained to Moonbin where he messed up and why he was stuck.
After Moonbin reworked the problem form the beginning he managed to get the right answer and he lit up. He thanked you quietly, his hand resting on yours briefly. His crinkled eyes and wide smile was enough to send your heart into overdrive.
Without really thinking you twisted your hand around to squeeze his. For a moment, you felt eyes on you and turned your head to see Hyunggu glaring at your hands. You slowly removed your hand from Moonbin’s and told him to continue before moving back to your original seat. Unfortunately it was right beside Hyunggu and as you sat back down the tension was tangible. He was rigid and his glare was turned toward his notebook, the tip of his pencil had broke off from how hard he had pressed it to his paper.
“Hyunggu...” You whispered, not moving. “Are you okay?”
Obviously he was not, but you knew not to push him.
“I’m great.” He huffed, slowly moving to pull a mechanical pencil from his bag.
“Is-Is anything troubling you? With the review I mean.” You gulped, anxiety consuming you.
“No.” His tone was sharp.
“Oh-okay.” You nodded, fidgeting as you picked up your pencil and worked on the problem you’d left off on.
Two hours passed before eyes started to droop and attention spans started to shorten. Yuto and Wooseok had worked through the practice problems twice and felt confident enough to resort to making paper airplanes. Chanhee had done the same amount of work and had started drawing an exaggerated illustration of the geometry teacher. May had been on her phone for the last ten minutes. Hyunggu and Moonbin were the only two still focused on work.
“Uhm, let’s call it a night yeah?” You broke the heavy silence. “We can meet back here tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to study more.” You mentally checked the weekend hours for the library. “It closes by 3, so we can meet about 12-12:30?”
There was a chorus of agreements as everyone moved to pack their things. May excitedly talked with Wooseok and Yuto as they headed towards the door.
“See you tomorrow (Y/N).” They waved.
“Text me when you guys get home.” You called quietly, trying to not disturb anyone else who had hung around this late on a Friday night.
“Moonbin, let’s head back.” Chanhee slapped Moonbin on the back, “We can get lunch together before meeting here tomorrow.”
“Yeah, okay.” Moonbin nodded, eyes resting on you for a moment before packing up. “(Y/N), how are you getting home?”
“It’s a 15 minute walk, so that.” You waved them off, “Go on, I can tell this weeks drama club meetings have exhausted you two.”
“You can walk back with us.” Chanhee offered innocently.
“Yea, it’s better to travel with someone.” Moonbin piped up, a shy smile taking over his face.
You watched Chanhee and Moonbin exchange a look before they turned back to you waiting for an answer.
“I’m walking her home.” Hyunggu spoke up for the 3rd time that night.
“Oh, okay. Send me a message when you’re home then (Y/N).” Moonbin deflated a bit.
You turned toward Hyunggu and watched him for a moment before he started to pack up his things.
“I’m going to walk them out and use the bathroom, I’ll be right back Hyunggu.” You moved to fall into step with Moonbin and Chanhee towards the front of the library.
“Is he okay?” Chanhee asked once Hyunngu was out of ear shot.
“I think so, I’m going to talk to him on the way home.”
“He seems to be upset.” Moonbin snuck a glance back at your classmate. “He’s been that way for a few weeks now.” Moonbin acknowledged.
“Sometimes he gets into moods like this.” You rubbed the back of your neck, “They usually don’t last too long but like I said I’m gonna talk to him.”
The guys nodded. Chanhee asked for you two to wait while he ran to the bathroom leaving you and Moonbin alone.
“You’re close with Hyunggu.” It wasn’t a question.
“I am. We’ve been friends for years now.”
“He’s protective of you.” You nodded. “He likes you...”
“No.” You answered probably too quickly. “He doesn’t, we’re friends.”
“But you like him?” Moonbin had picked up on the disappointment written on your face before you could tuck it away.
When you didn’t answer him, he nodded. He hugged you, pulling you into him and resting his cheek on your head. It stunned you for a moment, the physical contact between the two of you hadn’t really gotten to that level yet.
“I can see it in his actions and his attitude. He obviously likes you a lot and I won’t get in the middle of this, but if you decide to give me a chance later on, I’d really like that. I may regret this, but you should tell him. It feels much better to have things like this out in the open, I know from experience.”
Moonbin pulled away and ruffled your hair slightly. As Chanhee exited the bathroom throwing away a bunched up paper towel he gave the two of you a funny look. Moonbin waved him off and winked at you before the two of them left the library.
He has practically confessed his feelings for you. Moonbin had just told you he liked you even though he knew you liked Hyunggu and it sent you into overdrive. You’d had a few guys throughout school confess to you but you’d always been so head-over-heels for Hyunggu you’d never spared them a thought. Knowing that Moonbin had started to like you and may have been liking you for a little while left you at a loss. You were just as friendly with him as you were the rest of the guy friends and that thought made you hope you had never done anything to lead him on.
Needing a moment alone, you walked into the bathroom. You did what you needed to do and then stood in front of the mirror for a few moments after washing your hands.
“You can’t hide in here all night.” You mumbled to yourself.
With a new resolve you exited the bathroom and headed straight towards Hyunggu. He had packed up all his things, the rest of yours, and was leaning back against the table with his phone in hand. He looked much more calm.
“Are you ready?” You asked, moving to take your backpack off the table.
“Yea.” He beat you to it and threw your backpack over his free shoulder.
The two of you fell into sync as you walked towards the library’s main doors and out into the chilly night air. You had barely made it down the first block before Hyunggu stopped and dropped to one knee. You turned about to ask him what he was doing when he pulled out a jacket and placed it on your shoulders before shouldering the backpacks again.
“Thank you.” You mumbled, slipping your arms into his jacket.
“Make sure you zip it up.” He moved to zip it for you before you could do it yourself.
“Gu...” He stopped, looking from his jacket zipper to you.
“What’s been wrong the lately?” Your voice was quiet, so quiet the wind carried most of it away.
“You’ve gotten close with Moonbin rather quickly.” He sighed, his eyes flickering to your face before back to the zipper. “I’ve been...” He paused, searching for the word Wooseok and Yuto had supplied with him early that week. “Jealous.”
You gawked at him for a moment. Hyunggu was jealous. More importantly, Hyunggu was jealous of Moonbin. When you didn’t say anything at first Hyunggu started walking again, his entire face had heated up from his tiny sort of confession. You stuttered a few steps before rushing to his side again.
“Why are you jealous?” You asked, “You’re still one of my best friends.” You voice cracked at ‘best friends’.
“Because you might not see Moonbin like that. He could be an option to be more than friends.” Hyunggu didn’t miss a beat, his focus in front of him.
What you didn’t know is that his palms were damp around the backpack straps, his heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest, and anxiety had welled up so much in his stomach he felt like he was going to die.
“Maybe,” You said thoughtfully, “But there is already someone else that I see as more than a friend.” You hummed, feeling your heart rate increase drastically and sweat bead up along the back of your neck. “This person, they mean a lot to me so I wouldn’t just replace them so easily.”
The two of you were beating around the bush, like you were playing tag just trying to not be the one to confess first.
“Wh-what did he say to you before leaving?” Hyunggu tried to keep his focus ahead of him instead of your hand that kept brushing against his and your perfume that had spent all the evening suffocating him in the sweetest of ways.
“He indirectly confessed his feelings to me.” You affirmed, much to Hyunggu’s horror. “But he told me that he noticed someone else liked me and that he wasn’t going to get in the middle of things unless I told him to.”
“Oh.” Hyunggu felt his body deflated.
He had known that Moonbin liked you, he heard him and Chanhee talking about it one day after school. When he had confronted Moonbin about it, the two made it clear they had feelings for you and Hyunggu wanted to beat Moonbin to a pulp. It took Wooseok and Yuto talking him down to keep a fight from breaking out.
His best friends told him the easiest way to prevent that was to confess first but he had no idea how you felt about him. Even after May had told him that you had liked him for years he was still in denial. He figured if he’d gotten through all these years without confessing to you, all these other guys, that things would be fine. But you had never been so close with a guy like Moonbin before, you two got so close so quickly that Hyunggu had felt jealousy surging through his veins since the beginning.
Hyunggu was so deep in his thoughts that he hadn’t realized you’d grabbed his hand in yours after they had bumped together for the 20th time and laced your fingers together. He hadn’t noticed that your other hand was now across your body holding onto his forearm. And he definitely did not notice that you had rested your head against his shoulder.
All the possibilities of him confessing to you right now were running through his head when he felt the warmth from your hand in his. Without a second of hesitation more, he drew in a deep breath and turned his head to look at you.
“(Y/N)?” When you hummed and looked up at him with a shy smile, he melted. “Do you remember when we first met?”
“Of course, it was our first year, you and those two goons jumped in to stop some of our seniors from picking on May and I.” You smiled at the fond memory. “I still think you getting punished with the seniors was too much.” You scrunched up your nose.
“Did I ever tell you why?”
“Something about not being able to stand the injustice and abuse of power by our seniors?”
“Something like that.” Hyunggu laughed, his cheeks reddening at the prospect of this. He took another deep breath. “One of the main reasons, if not the main reason, was because I’ve liked you since the first day I saw you. The reason why I’ve always been... more protective and stuff is because I still like you. I’ve been so jealous is because of that, because I like you.”
His confession left you speechless for a moment. You couldn’t look away from him, his eyes shone with hope and fear. Your hand tightened around his.
“Ya know, every time May tried to tell me you liked me I always kind of pushed the thought away.” You smiled and tugged him behind you to keep moving. “It seemed so far fetched to think that you would like me back.”
“Wait--” Hyunggu’s steps stuttered, as your words sunk in. “You didn’t think I would like you back? That means that you like me too.”
Trying to remain calm, you shrugged.
“You still... like me don’t you?” Hyunggu’s dejected voice made you jerk your head towards him.
“I do.” You admitted shyly.
“Can I ask you something then?”
“Uh, sure.” You nodded.
“Can I officially ask you to give me a chance and be my girlfriend?”
“I’d like that.” You nodded, leaning back into him as the two of you continued walking. “Just think it took you getting jealous for all this to be revealed.”
“Can we not talk about that? Yuto and Seokkie have already been giving me hell all week about it.”
“As they should, I can’t wait to tell them and May.”
“We are never gonna hear the end of it from them.” He joked, already dreading tell them they were right and that he’s an idiot.
“Probably, but we’ll take it on together.”
“I really like the sound of that.” He hummed, kissed your hand in his. “We can take on lots of things together now.”
You really liked the sound of that, and the feel of Hyunggu’s hand in yours. And that warm, hum vibrating throughout your body was nice too. All this was because of a little jealousy.

im currently on my period and in a lot of pain so could i have either mccree, reaper, or 76 comforting ftm!reader? i love your work a lot btw!
I’m so glad you like my writing! I hope these make you feel a bit better!
I chose to write McCree and reader is pre-transitioned ftm.
~~~
“Why do we have mandatory movie nights again?” You maneuvered your way through the meeting headquarters turned movie theater, making your way to a couple of squishy white beanbag chairs a good distance away from the holoscreen that would be projected movies in moments.
“Mandatory make friendly night,” your scruffy Southern beauty replied from behind you. McCree stood watching the growing crowd of Overwatch members, hands full with a bowl of cherries and strawberries and a container of whipped cream, while you positioned the the chairs closer together and plopped down into one.
Looking up at him with a grin, you cooed in a slightly awkward imitation of your boyfriend’s accent, “Come along, li’l doggy. Movie’s startin’ soon.”
“I don’t sound like that,” Jesse grumbled, easing himself into the beanbag next to you. He worked his way through the whipped cream’s plastic seal and popped it open before grabbing a strawberry to dip into it.
You watched his actions with a chuckle. “If you eat the entire bucket before the movie starts I’m not coming with you to get more.” You shifted in your seat to get comfortable, then made a face.
The brunette cowman looked at you with half of a strawberry sticking out of his mouth. “What?”
“I think I sat in something,” you replied, wiggling in your seat again. Suddenly, your stomach flipped and tightened into a cramp and your thoughts changed. Instead of getting up as originally planned, you recoiled into yourself a bit, pressing an arm across your stomach and looking away from your partner.
“Hey, are you okay? It’s not a huge deal, we’ll just tell someone and move seats.” Jesse, who had finished the strawberry and was now more than a little confused, lightly touched your arm.
You yanked yourself away from his touch and looked him in the eye. To his surprise, your face was bright red and your eyes were watery.
“I can’t get up,” you murmured hoarsely, “I got blood on the chair.”
His heart fluttered in a little inward panic. He was among the three people, the other two being your medic Mercy and your recruiter Soldier 76, who knew that you hadn’t yet fully transitioned yet; everyone else just knew you as a man named (Y/N), which was the cause of your sudden distress.
After his brief shock faded, McCree gave you a small encouraging smile. He slipped an arm around your shoulder to hug you closer and rested his chin on your head. Lowering his voice, he crooned, “Listen, it’s fine. It happens–”
“It’s not supposed to happen!” you yelped quietly. You sniffled and pressed your face into his neck but otherwise didn’t move from your current position.
“No, you’re right,” your boyfriend muttered. He placed a kiss on the top of your head before continuing, “Unfortunately, it still does happen sometimes. You an’ me, we’ve all been through this at one point or another. Don’t worry, it’ll be just fine, sweet pea. I have an idea to get you outta here without anyone noticing yer current situation. Trust me?”
“Of course I do, Jesse, but what exactly is your–” Your sentence was cut off by a screech of your own as Jesse dropped the entire bowl of cherries and strawberries into your lap, coating it and your legs and the chair beneath it in red juice and fruit. The noise you’d just made coupled with you jumping to your feet caused more than a few eyes to look your way, and you looked at Jesse in what was supposed to be betrayal until you noticed the now-empty chair next to him.
Well, not completely empty. In the seat’s impression was a puddle of blood red fruit juice slowly being absorbed by the seat itself, with several cherries and strawberries resting in it. No period blood in sight, just red fruit juice.
Your person itself looked a similar way, with red juice coating your lap and spreading to your backside via the fabric of your sweats. Your bright red face and wide, teary eyes would have been mistaken by anyone else as a sign of shock and embarrassment due to your boyfriend’s “clumsiness.”
Jesse gave you a barely noticeably knowing smile before a mask of mock shock covered his features. He quickly hopped up began picking the fruit up the fruit now strewn across the chair and floor and putting it back into the glass bowl it’d come from.
“Dammit, I’m sorry (Y/N)!” he briefly glanced at you again before continuing his show for the audience of concerned or annoyed Overwatch members. “My hand’d slipped while we were talking and the bowl fell right on your lap. Let me clean this up the best I can and we’ll go get you cleaned up, yeah?”
At this point, all eyes were on the bumbling cowboy, aside from Mercy and Soldier 76 who you noticed were talking off to the sidelines; they seemed to be smiling and exchanging glances between you and Jesse, which made you blush again.
“What about my chair?” D.Va made her way over with a huff, arms crossed over her chest. Examining the chair briefly, she let out a whine. “That’s never going to come out!”
“Tell ya what,” Jesse picked up the beanbag chair, which he’s managed to fold so the stain wasn’t visible, and hauled it over his shoulder. “Tomorrow, I’ll take ya to buy a new one.” He gave her a little pat on the head, then walked over to you. He wrapped his free hand around yours, gave you a wink, then helped you waddle your way out of the room before Hana could express her protests.
It was a quick and silent trip to throw the soiled beanbag in a large trash chute, then to make your way to the room you and Jesse shared. When there, he opened the door and ushered you inside.
“See?” he said, breaking the quiet and causing you to turn to him. “I don’t you no one would notice a thing.”
“Except that you’re a klutz,” you commented with a soft smile, “and now you have to go shopping with Hana tomorrow.”
“Details,” Jesse replied with a chuckle. Then he walked over to press a kiss to your lips before smiling sweetly at you. “Go hop in the shower. Get yourself cleaned up and I’ll bring you some clothes, and I’ll take care of the dirty ones. It’s gonna be all fine, darlin’.”
You almost teared up again but stopped yourself, instead giving your cowboy a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek before shuffling to the bathroom. You left your clothes outside the bathroom for Jesse to toss in the hamper, then drew yourself a hot shower.
Twenty minutes of washing up and just soaking up steam later, you finally forced yourself to get out of the shower and you were greeted by a pile of fresh pajamas sitting on the closed toilet seat, with your binder, a pad, and a couple painkillers sitting on top. You couldn’t help but grin at the clean little affections Jesse provided, despite being the rugged seemingly dirty cowboy that he was.
After you took the painkillers to numb your menstrual cramps and got dressed in the pajama pants and large T-shirt your boyfriend left you, you padded back out into the main room.
Jesse himself had stripped down and put on a pair of sweat, and was laying on the head with his feet by the pillows and his head hanging off the other end. He’d been watching the bathroom door, waiting for you to finish up, and greeted you with a large goofy grin when you exited.
“As usual, you look nice in my shirts,” he commented, rolling onto his stomach and resting his head on an arm.
You responded to his compliment by sticking out your tongue. You then hobbled over to him to press a kiss to his nose before climbing onto the large bed and laying across his back, making a plus sign of people across the mattress.
“Well, this wasn’t quite the position I had in mind,” Jesse chuckled and rolled back onto his back without moving from underneath you.
“Sorry, my stomach is trying to kill me as punishment for being a guy and this position makes it a little more bearable.”
“See, even your uterus knows that it shouldn’t be there.” Your dorky cowman snorted.
“Don’t worry, uterus,” you patted your lower abdomen. “Someday we’ll both be happy.”
“And I’m here with you every step of the way,” Jesse murmured. His hands began to roam to the parts of your body that he could reach, lightly kneading and massaging your warmed skin.
You hummed tiredly in response and placed your arms behind your head. Eventually, between the painkillers doing their magic and Jesse’s loving hands, you were able to doze of into something like a deep, dreamless sleep.
Hey I just discovered your house MD fics and I ADORE them!! Next time you've got time for a request could we see a red string of fate au?
my dear i may be neck deep in bnha but it was such a fresh breeze to write more house so im so glad you stopped by!! sorry it took me so long wheezzee
The morning House wakes up and there’s a thin, untouchable, red string wrapped tight around his left pinky he thinks maybe he’s developed a fun new side effect from his Vicodin. It passes straight through his fingers when he tries to grab it, but the shape and form don’t wobble. He can cup his hands tight together but the string, which snakes off into the distance in defiance of gravity, doesn’t disappear.
 House spends a little while fucking with it then shrugs his shoulders and goes to work. It’s only as he’s walking into the hospital that he starts to think maybe this hallucination thing is starting to get out of hand. Everyone has a red string attached to their hand. Some on different fingers, some frayed and drooping, some slightly off color. The corridors are awash with all these little strings floating everywhere, going who the fuck knows where.
 He doesn’t really connect the concept of the string of fate to what he’s seeing until he walks into an exam room and finds a couple waiting for him. The string that connects them is a bright, cherry red, and shortens and lengthens as the man paces but keeps them connected nonetheless. House goes through his usual motions, tries to be an ass, picks on any insecurities he can but their relationship is rock solid and he ends up being the barer of good news when he tells the wife that she’s pregnant. He leaves awkwardly as they cry happy tears into each others arms.
 As educated as House is, he knows about the myth. Doesn’t mean he’s ever thought much of it, kind of like the old Greek tale that humans were originally two-headed, four-armed creatures that got separated and are now forever looking for their other halves. It’s trash. Romantic, soppy trash that appeals only to the lonely and insecure.
 And yet.
 Maybe he’s sleeping. Or he overdosed again. Maybe one of his fellows slipped him something when he wasn’t looking. Why his brain would chose this particular hallucination is beyond him, but it can’t possibly be real. After all, there’s a very intact string around House’s finger with, supposedly, somebody else on the end of it.
 There’s no fucking way he has a soulmate.
 If he followed it he might find out. But he’s not going to let himself. He can’t play into his own stupid delusion.
 Maybe its time for some therapy after all? …Nah. House finishes his clinic rounds and goes back up to his office to toss his tennis ball and brood for a while. There’s no case going on currently so it’s not like he has much else to do, and Cuddy will kill him if he skips out early again. Something about abiding by his office hours or some shit.
 The fellows are hanging out in the conference room when he comes in and he gives them a little wave through the glass wall but doesn’t join them. Besides brief acknowledgement of their own they don’t bother him either, which is a change of pace and surprisingly pleasant.
 All three of them also have strings. None of them are connected to each other, though he knows Chase and Cameron were bumping uglies there for a while. They all wander off at some point without House being able to figure out who they’re connected to and he sighs and throws his feet up on his desk. Where’s someone with a weird, deadly disease when you need them?
 The sound of his office door opening draws him from his thoughts, as does Wilson’s quiet, “House.”
 House shifts, turning his head to look at his friend. Immediately his gaze is draw down to his hands. Strong hands, those. Comforting. Skilled. Sure enough, there’s a red string on his right pinky. Said string seems to float in the air between them, and as Wilson prattles about something or another, House follows its meandering path with his eyes.
 Straight to his own hand.
 He sits up so fast he nearly falls out of his chair.
 “House?” Now Wilson sounds concerned. “What’s wrong?”
 “Uh,” says House, jerking his gaze a few times between their hands to confirm what it is he’s seeing. Then he forcibly relaxes his shoulders and expression to try and throw off his friend. Who is also apparently his soulmate, at least in whatever part of is subconscious is controlling this little hallucination. “Sorry, just remembered I recorded some porn on the TIVO. Gotta get home.”
 But the look on Wilson’s face is strangely knowing, a little excited. He takes a single step forward then holds up his right hand. “You wouldn’t happen to be seeing anything, would you?” he asks with a little wriggle of his fingers.
 House’s eyes narrow. They can’t possibly be having the same hallucination.
 “I saw you looking. Nothing?”
 “Maybe,” House hedges, and instantly Wilson’s shoulders are drooping. He knows an admission when he hears one.
 “Oh good. I’ve been seeing them for days now.”
 “The strings?”
 “Yeah.” Wilson runs a hand through his hair, the other one settling on his hip. “Weird, right? Thought I was going crazy.”
 “Wouldn’t be the first time I hallucinated weird shit,” House grumbles. “Though I’ve gotta say you as my soulmate is a new one.”
 The other man barks a sharp laugh. “Right? I guess platonic soulmates are a thing.”
 For a moment House weighs his options. He still doesn’t really believe this situation at all, much less the concept of some cosmic interference bringing people together, constructing them to complement each other. But if there were such a thing as soulmates…well, Wilson as his isn’t actually a bad thought. Scary, maybe, because Wilson was always too precious to lose even before gaining some magical other-half status. But maybe that also means that House isn’t destined to fuck this up. So he goes for it.
 “Sure,” he agrees easily, rocking back in his chair. “But I’ve been in love with you for years so I don’t think platonic is the right label.”
 Wilson pauses, mouth slightly open. It’s like watching a computer blue-screen right before it dies on you completely. House gives him a second to get his thoughts together than pulls his legs off the desk and heaves himself up right in the chair. “So. Dinner at my place tonight.”
 “Uh,” Wilson says, distinctly red in the face. “Yeah. Yeah, that’d be good.”
 House smiles, and it feels strangely genuine on his face. “Sweet. You’re driving.”
