My partner rags on me frequently for mixing up actors who look vaguely similar. He thinks I should recognize them because fame. However, we were watching a scifi/fantasy show, and I blurted out the name of the actor as soon as she appeared on the screen, and he was shocked.
I have no idea who she is. How do you recognize her?
Well, honey, she’s a nerd actor, who plays in nerd shows. so.

I’m pleased to see you back here.
I also took a break from Tumblr for a while, and I followed you on Twitter, too, but I really enjoy the longer posts and more in depth interactions I get to see here on ol’ Tum.
Hey, good to see you again! I remember you from the old days, and you know what? Today—TODAY, this very moment!—is the first damn time I noticed that your user name is "ravioli" backwards. Isn't that a thing!
ObConlang, can you imagine creating a "for use" conlang, and having to come up with terms for all the pasta shapes? I guess you could borrow them in, but still...

That thing where a scene in a book is just too much, too much culmination at once, and without even thinking about it I leap to my feet and start pacing around to release some of my agitation before I run back to the book so I can find out what happens.

I finally watched Hamilton.
Catching up with the current - er, somewhat recent - times.
Obviously, everyone in the show was a top notch performer. That said,
I was particularly impressed with the actors who played Angelica, Eliza, and Lafayette/Jefferson.
Also,
King George.
A Message from the King is hands down the scene I have spent the most time thinking about and replaying in my mind.
Even though the character has limited stage time, he is just so delightfully written and performed. I loved the over-the-top love song themes crossing the line into controlling lover territory as a representation of colonial power.
And boy does that fella have a well tuned set of pipes and a willingness to go all the way in a part.

This post contains spoilers for The Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Tumblr media
I recently watched The Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and after a few days I finally figured out what I liked so much about it.
Y’know, besides it being really nice to see a love interest who, despite their ups and downs, is never an asshole.
I mean, I don’t know how autistic people feel about the show. I am sure some like the rep and some hate it for a variety of reasons, and you should listen to what they have to say about it.
But for me, it was exciting to see someone in a show who has restrictive sensory sensitivities that limit what she eats and how she eats it, and — For Once — it is not presented as a character who is picky because they are a spoiled brat or a fussy uptight stick in the mud. This is a character that struggles to eat certain things and it is simply a part of her greater array of character traits.
Tumblr media
Even though I am not autistic, and I do not share many of Young-Woo’s other traits, I can see myself in that character. I, too, simply do not eat certain things (although my palate is broader than hers and very different), and I, too, feel awkward in certain social situations where eating and drinking particular things is expected. And it certainly is not about being spoiled or fussy. What a breath of fresh air.
That scene when she told her dad the ham tasted funny and he said to eat it anyway, and after she left he turned around and found all the ham picked out of her gimbap and left behind in an X on her plate —So relatable.

I enjoyed reading Book of Night by Holly Black.
Dark themes but enjoyable vibes.
Sassy con artist protag is likable despite crime and opportunism.

Also the cover is pretty.
I’d like to have a copy on my shelf someday.

When you think about certain colors and color combinations do you ever just want to dive into them and soak them into your skin and swallow them in thirsty gulps even as they electrify your eyes and hair and blow back your cape and rattle your jewelry and bleed into all the papers and cloth you touch? Or maybe just try to paint with them about them?

Just a torture device for sale on discount.
I can only imagine wearing this thing to be 100 times worse than wearing a bra. 1000 times, maybe, because add *sweating for weight loss* into the mix.
Everything about this box is just a wild advertising choice. The picture is just amazing. I don’t mean good amazing. The text at the bottom makes me flinch from actual psychic pain.
Exactly what kind of clothes would one wear over this thing? Would any kind of normal clothes hide this shapewear? Surely most people do not wish to advertise the fact that they are wearing shapewear while they are wearing it? Ruffles, I guess…
I hope it is at Ollie’s because the majority of people look at that box and see it for the shitshow it is and whatever place first tried to sell these could not move them.
I’m so upset that this box exists. That the product exists. That the photograph on it exists. That the text on it exists and means something that I recognize. That our culture shames people for their bodies so horribly that someone thought there would be a market for this piece of shit torture device.

It is again the time of year when White Wine in the Sun washes over me and soothes my carol- haunted ears for five minutes.
youtube
I don’t particularly care for Dawkins or for white wine, and my childhood christmas weather is cold and overcast, but it is a breath if fresh air to hear a song about christmas that I otherwise relate to. I am very sentimental about secular christmas with my family, and this song dampens my eyes at least once a year.

I have been seized by a keen urge to build a scale model of my fictional city on a topographically accurate surface with little clay tile shingles and painted trim and tiny trees…
No time or space for it this year, though.
Maybe next year…
