“Hi guys, it’s me, Tara, and today I’m here with Jake, y/n and Johnnie.” Tara introduced you and you all waved to the camera.
“Hi!” you greeted her viewers.
“Today I’m gonna torture my guests… No, but I wish.” she pouted and you all laughed “Today, my guests will be playing into deaf, mute and blind but…they will have many challenges and quests to do throughout the day. But they main goal is to do shopping and bake me cookies! Any words guys?”
“I hope I get deaf, cause I don’t think I can go much longer with them talking.” you rolled your eyes looking at Jake and your boyfriend.
“Hey!” Johnnie gasped pretending to be offended, placing hand on his chest “That hurt love.”
You only rolled your eyes but couldn’t hide the smile that was forcing its way onto your face.
“Alright, so now they will draw sticks and get to know what senses will be taken from them!” Tara showed her viewers three sticks and then she turned to you “Ladies first.”
You took the one in the middle and immediately looked at written words.
“Yeah! I’m deaf today!” You did a little winning dance. Next one choosing stick was Johnnie and he got mute.
“Oh, so I will be blind.” Jake stated “That’s good actually, at least I don’t have to look at your ugly faces.” he smirked and you laughed.
Tara handed you all your things - blindfold for Jake, duck tape for Johnnie and earphones for you.
“Let me also add, that the person who won’t do the most of their mini challenges, has to take a cold shower on the street!” Tara smiled mischievously.
“Is this enough to charge her with domestic abuse?” Jake asked kind of scared.
When everyone was ready Tara started talking to the camera and you could only guess she was explaining to people what you gonna do and not long later Johnnie took your hand to let you know you were going out. You both helped blindfolded Jake to the car and Tara drove you to the nearest store.
She turned on the camera and pointed it at you and Johnnie. You didn’t see anyone talking so you decided to speak “I think Tara already told you guys but we’re making cookies so now we have to find all of the needed ingredients.” you informed and Tara pointed the camera to Johnnie who was gesturing towards some alley. He took your hand and started dragging you there with Tara going behind you but you suddenly stopped, remembering something.
You quickly turned around and jogged to Jake to walk him to Johnnie and Tara. He said something that made Tara laugh and Johnnie’s arms shudder in a silent laugh.
You really started to regret wanting to be deaf one, because not hearing anything yet seeing it, made you frustrated. Also, not hearing Johnnie made you kinda sad. But atleast you listened to your favorite songs.
You all went to grocery alley where Jake gave you his phone so you and Johnnie could find all ingredients for cookies.
Tara was pointing the camera on you all the time and you decided to speak from time to time in case she and Jake weren’t saying anything.
“So we will be doing chocolate chip cookies. Or rather we will be trying to instruct Jake to do it without hurting himself or poisoning us.” you felt a light push on your shoulder and you laughed seeing how Jake was struggling with trying to not miss your form while hitting.
Johnnie swatted Jake’s hand when he tried to hit your shoulder again and side hugged you while looking for flour.
“Johnnie, we need flour for cakes, this one is for bread.” you told him and he gave you a ‘what the hell’ face and you knew that if he could talk and you hear, he would be asking about the difference.
“Alright, I think we got everything.” you stated when you found everything and you all went to cashier’s stands where everyone was looking at you like at idiots, but that wasn’t anything new with Johnnie and Jake.
Tara quickly paid when it was yours turn and you and Johnnie walked Jake to the car.
When you were at home you quickly started to prepare kitchen for your baking.
Suddenly, you felt someone tugging gently at your arm and you saw Johnnie pointing ahead of you. You saw Tara pointing the camera at you all and you took it as a clue to start talking.
“Alright, so now we will be trying to instruct Jake how to make cookie dough, wish us luck!” you smiled sarcastically.
You somehow were cooperating well, Johnnie was showing you the recipe and you were reading it for Jake who then with your and yours boyfriend help were making most of the work.
When cookies were in the oven you didn’t have anything better to do so you sat on the floor in front of the oven and you were just looking at the cookies.
Some time later Johnnie joined you, sitting next to you and placing his head on your shoulder. You hugged him into your side and he gladly snuggled into you, kissing your shoulder.
You sat there for a few minutes, when Tara came to you with a camera and some bowl and told something to Johnnie and then showed you her phone, where she wrote in the notes that now you will be doing random challenges before you could take the cookies out from the oven. It would decide who is the loser of the video.
You all stood in the living room and Tara came to you with the bowl and you took one piece of paper.
“I’ve got ‘activity without your sense’” you read it for them and viewers out loud and then showed the piece of paper to the camera.
Moment later Tara gave you another paper, which turned out to be an instruction what your activity was.
“So I have to call a random contact and try to have normal conversation with that person. That will be hard.” you sighed “Can Johnnie and Jake help me? Like by gesturing?” You looked at Tara and she only nodded.
You looked at the camera and smiled “I’m actually kinda scared that they will gesturing wrong things and I will make a fool of myself.” you laughed and you could see Tara snorting.
Your challenges were done, it wasn’t that bad or at least you were hoping so.
Then you took the cookies out of the oven and tried them when they weren’t hot. They were really good.
“Teamwork makes a dream work, i guess.” you smiled at the camera.
Then you could finally take off the earphones and you were never as grateful for hearing Jake and Johnnie as now.
“God, it’s so good to hear people again. I missed your voice.” you told Johnnie who smiled widely at you and kissed your cheek.
“I’m glad to see again, but I’m scared of how many bruises I’ve got today.” Jake laughed while still trying to get use to the light in the room.
“Alright guys, they made it.” Tara smiled at the camera “I can’t with how cute y/n and Johnnie were today. Literally goals. You were like and old married couple.” she giggled and you smiled.
“So, who’s the loser?” Jake asked after few minutes.
“You Jake.” You laughed “You didn’t do any of your challenges correctly.”
“That’s true.” Tara smirked “You will do your punishment later.”
You stopped recording for some time so Tara could get all of the needed things for Jake’s punishment, so you and Johnnie went to sit on the couch while hugging.
“I really missed your voice today.” you admitted again quietly.
“And I missed talking to you.” he smiled “And kissing you.” he kissed you.

I feel like I gotta say something. When you talk shit about Jake and Josh's ADHD behaviors, even unknowingly, it's ableist.
These things include, but are not limited to:
○ teasing Jake about his grammar and mispellings.
○ rude remarks on how much Josh talks.
○ making jokes or using reaction memes of Jake or Josh's "blank stares" during interviews.
○ the speed at which Josh talks.
○ the way Jake fidgets in his seat and can't stay still.
I just need y'all to understand, that a lot of us feel genuinely represented in their behaviors and seeing fans who say they love GVF, act out and say shit like this about them really hurts quite a portion of our community.
The boys make me feel so seen and so loved and understood, and I just need to say, that y'all may not understand the effects your words have on others.
These are abelist behaviors I'd really like to see go away and see much more self awareness.

I really love that Sam’s actor Keivonn Woodard is actually deaf. It’s such a smart inclusion into the story, it works really well (I will protest the fact that the showrunners said “he is dependent on Henry even more” because that’s not entirely true but a younger Sam helps underscore it rather than make it about his deafness).
I also love that in the show, Henry makes sure to include Sam in conversations, like with Ellie and Joel introducing themselves. Yeah he isn’t the best at it in every conversation and he changes what they say, but I feel like that’s about him being an older brother and Sam being a kid rather than just because he’s deaf.
Also in the behind the scenes, the cast and crew worked with interpreters and picked up a lot of ASL so that they could all talk!
update: In listening to the podcast, they do a better job of explaining the decision to make Sam deaf, they’re very respectful about it, so I will forgive what I’m going to say is bad editing on the BTS taking that clip more out of context

Joel catches Ellie several times making the ASL for “endure and survive” to herself a few weeks after everything in Kansas City and asks her what she is doing.
After she explains what the signs mean and shows him how to make them it becomes a thing between them.
A secret little way to communicate with each other when words are hard or can’t be said. A way to say “You’re Okay” and “I’m here with you”. A way to check in during the long days of walking, a way to say “all clear” at a distance without having to yell, a way to say goodnight. It’s especially useful when words are harder after Silver Lake.
After a nightmare, Joel will take Ellie’s hands in the dark and move them into the signs for her. Ellie finds it incredibly grounding. If Joel is having one of his panic moments he can’t hear anything over his ringing ears but seeing Ellie make those signs with her hands in front of him or guide is hands into making them helps him settle.
Even when they get to Jackson they do it often and they never explain to anyone what it actually means. I even becomes their sort of send off to each other when they get to the point they are able to go on their own to do things in Jackson.

Partially Deaf/Hard of Hearing Prefect
A/N: Purely self indulgent and based off of my own hearing loss called a cookie bite and my experiences with it. I can’t speak for everyone but this is how this stuff usually goes for me
Grim
finds out within the first day, whether you want him to or not
you thought you were alone in Ramshackle. How were you to know he’d come up from behind you and try to talk to you?
he’s PISSED when you don’t respond to his remarks and almost sets you on fire
when he finally does catch your attention he starts badgering you about why you were ignoring the Great Grim
you eventually calm him down enough to explain that you took your hearing aids off for the night so you couldn’t hear him at all
Grim is confused and you have to go into the whole speech about how you’re missing part of your hearing and need devices to help you with it or how you can read lips to understand people
Grim actually feels pretty bad about it. He’s probably never dealt with any sort of disability before so he’d probably not know how to handle it or how to help you
“No, yelling at me won’t fix the problem Grim. Use your inside voice. You’re going to wake the dead again”
He’d eventually figure out that you can still hear high stuff, he’d definitely shriek to get your attention when you don’t have your hearing aids on no matter how much it annoys you (if people didn’t think Ramshackle was haunted before, the high pitched wails coming from there occasionally throughout the night definitely has them convinced now)
Once you figure out a system however, he’d definitely become your lifeline at school. Lectures are NOT a deaf person’s friend. Whether that means repeating what somebody said to make sure you got it or mouthing along with the things people say so you can read his lips, Grim will do what he can to help his little hench human. Just make sure to feed him some tuna afterwards
Ramshackle Ghosts
Ghosts are often portrayed as messing with technology like with staticky TVs, so I’d imagine these three would be a feedback NIGHTMARE
Even if you’d normally wear your hearing aids around the house, that’d go right of the window with these three. You’d know they’re in the same room by the telltale squeal your hearing aids make
They don’t mean harm, it’s just their spectral nature
Rip to you trying to interact with any of the ghost staff actually. Lunch time is probably also a nightmare with the kitchen staff
Once they know of your hearing loss, the ghosts start helping you out with things you might not be able to hear, like someone knocking on the door for example
You eventually offer to teach them what sign language you know that way you can communicate more without you needing to rely on reading their lips so much (do ghosts even have lips???)
Grim eventually gets dragged into your lessons too and soon it becomes a Ramshackle requirement to attend these classes of yours, even if you’re just staying for a night
Sam
LITERAL LIFE SAVER
If I know ANYTHING about healthcare/disability assistance is that it’s as inconvenient and as cumbersome as possible AKA hearing aid batteries in Twisted Wonderland would definitely be under a totally different labeling system than our world I can just feel it in my bones
Sam would help you figure out what batteries you needed for your make and model of hearing aid, spending well over an hour trying out every battery type just to figure out which one fit. After that he’d start keeping them in stock just for you
He’d even help replace the maintenance stuff you need like brushes, stabilizers, wax caps, and all of those fun little goodies that you left in your own world
Like I said, literal life saver here
I feel like he’d be pretty attentive to you too, like making sure to speak slow and clearly for you any time to drop by to shop a bit
10/10 would shop here forever if I could
Deuce Spade
Probably the first of the student’s I’d open up to tbh. he seems pretty safe for this kind of stuff. You’d have to broach the topic yourself though. I’m not sure if he would notice your hearing loss at all.
It’d probably just come up naturally while you’re walking in between classes. You're both talking about things you struggle with and you slip in that you're losing your hearing so listening in class can be tough some times
He’d probably have a mini heart attack at first if he doesn’t immediately blue screen
You can’t hear him? Like at all??? Wait, no, you can hear, just not voices. Wait, you can hear some voices, just not all voices????? That’s confusing
At the same time though he knows why you were "ignoring" him the other day so that's good
He'd let you copy his notes if you missed anything in class or explains anything you couldn’t hear! Just remember they're Deuce's notes and try not to put any more academic pressure on him than he’s already doing
Tries to be more conscious about making sure you can understand him when your chatting. Might try to get loud sometimes but he'll quickly corrects himself once you tell him that doesn't really help you all that much
Tries to learn sign language for you, but studying... is not his strong suit. He'll definitely pick up a few words though so don't give up on him! Just remember to sign s l o w l y at first
If you teach him to knock/stomp to get your attention he'd probably be pretty rough about it. I'd fear for Ramshackle's floor boards cause this man can be strong when he wants to be
All in all a good egg who's doing his best
Ace Trappola
2/10, would not recommend
I like Ace but he’s a mischief creator, a problem haver, and a trouble maker
He’d probably find out that you’re deaf by making fun of the way you say something
he'd think you're just goofing, but his words really hit a nerve
you’re not trying to be wrong. You’re trying really hard to figure it out! Could he at least give you a helping hand here instead of laughing at you?
his laughter eventually pushes you over the edge and you snap at him, saying you didn’t ask to be deaf so you’re “sorry” if your voice is a little strange! You’re trying your best here with what little hearing you have left!
Ace is definitely taken aback by your sudden out burst and even more so about this disability he knew nothing about
He checks in with Grim and Deuce before realizing how much of a jerk he was being. He’d still probably drag his feet a bit before apologizing (i mean, this is Ace we’re talking about here), but once he does apologize he’d totally change his tune
He’d still poke fun at you on occasion, but he’d know not to push you so far anymore
If anyone did make fun of you or the way you spoke, Ace would definitely rally the boys to hunt down who ever made fun of you. Only one person is allowed to tease you and that’s him

Alright. Horrid dream sequence turned into AU?
I wouldn't exactly call it a dream. But I was trying to sleep and away I do so is making up stories. And sometime those stories get a little wacky cuz I'm halfway asleep. Some of them can also get really bad. I don't have nightmares in the same way that most people do. More like weird story making dreams sequences that go away out of hand.
Anyways. AU idea.
Basically this is branching off of my idea that eclipse could have had a consciousness that moon knew about before. It just takes it in a more... Violent matter.
Although I always figured in that sort of situation the storyline would continue as normal. As eclipse would just be saying the truth. Moon doesn't know that. Moon doesn't know if eclipse would tattletail on him about being sentient before and locked in his head. In the main line of this idea, Sun still sides with moon due to just believing his brother more than this virus. What moon doesn't know that either. So how would he stop this conscious version of themself that he's going to plug into his brother's head and forget about?
Why he could just tie them up, rip out their voice, take away every freedom he could have in the void that is the mindscape. And is still never tell his brother about it.
Yeah, no, it's that dark. Sun would have no idea of eclipse inside of his head. Eclipse cannot speak, He cannot move, He has no agency other than sitting in sun's mindscape. Maybe periodically watching the happiness the other version of himself is having.
Since he cannot even move, He can't create a blood moon. Honestly I think my brain was flip-flop being on whether he should be blind. Which I couldn't disagree could happen. This eclipse might be mute, deaf, blind, and paralyzed. All so his moon could live his life without that pesky kill code.
I'm honestly uncertain how this eclipse would even be found out by sun. I think the only thing I thought of was when moons kill code comes back. It would be the only scenario where Moon might slip up and say that he removed his previous kill code and left it in sun. Very much explaining how he probably should do the same thing with this kill code.
I remember in this idea I felt like new kill code would feel real bad and angry about Eclipse. Again just being a fraction of moon, He would have the memory about Moon abandoning the previous version of themself. It honestly could be another way that the slip up of sun having a kill code in his head could happen. With new kill code basically screaming about how Eclipse is in sun's head, and he won't let Moon do it to him.
The end is a little fuzzy. Falling asleep and all that. I think. For some reason. Sun and Moon went to Golden to figure out what to do with the new kill code. And that is when Sun basically asked if he could meet the tied up eclipse. I have no idea where moon went. As I feel like in character he would actually try and stop such an action.
But onwards the dream went with moon mysteriously disappearing. So Sun jumped into the magical circle and spoke with eclipse. Or, well, spoke as much as he could with somebody who has had their voice taken from them. I felt like at that point Eclipse would be very much insane and mentally unstable. Just seeing Sun might freak him out. Not that he can move to run away from them. He's had all agency removed.
So Sun just walked up upon the poor terrified Eclipse. Attempting to talk with them before he realizes that they can't respond. Might not even see him. So he just decides to give the tied up man a hug. Resulting in an aggressive freak out. Although it just comes out as thrashing in his restraints. Sun decides this is bad. This is very bad. But at the same time he's terrified of moon doing something to him if he asks for him to let eclipse have freedom.
And I don't remember. But I think Sun moved out? Basically he sought a safe place. Like a place or a friend's house You go to when you're running away from an abusive person. Unfortunately almost everybody is moon's friend. Even Golden I think was trying to help with the second kill code. Although it was fuzzy.
I think Golden was the one who encouraged Sun to move out. But he said not here because Moon was trying to make deals with him. Unfortunately as I was starting to drift and trying to figure out where he could move to. There wasn't a lot of options. He can't go to Monty. He can't go to Glam Freddy's. He can't go to anyone who is a friend of moons.
Sun was a little too scared to tell the others about what moon had done. I don't know if he actually went anywhere. Maybe he went to a place in the woods. Some abandoned location. Maybe he did find a friend like Roxy's. Maybe. But in the end it was basically was Sun trying to figure out coding so he could release eclipse from his bonds.
Unfortunately my little dream fades out around there. I think I just got too sick of the idea.
Anyone want to help me with fleshing this out. It take away the weird dream and consistencies and maybe find an ending?

The other Harry Osborn to be a cochlear implant user to me (as in: not canon but hear me out) is SSM TV show version. His mom is super easy to headcanon as Deaf the way she stays quiet onscreen and reacts as much to Norman's hand gesture as his words in Final Curtain. This version of Emily seems onboard with Norman's lead so Harry would get his implants very early on and they simply aren't as relevant to his journey

GN!Reader
When Sam was young, she thought sign language was so cool. I'm talking little kid, so she didn't really know or understand yet what it was used for. But as soon as someone explained it to her, she wanted to learn how to sign that much more. So she's been fluent in American Sign Language for years.
Once she met reader, she started teaching her friends ASL because she wanted them all to be on level playing field. Even if it was just some basic sign, it was important to her that they know some. Especially because she really liked reader and wanted to make them feel welcome among her friends.
When they start dating, she loves to go on walks through the park with them. Walks in general are great with her, but there's something so sweet about the park. She likes finding a place to sit where they can watch nature or have a conversation about anything. It's very peaceful to her.
Reading dates 😍 she just sets up a cozy corner where they can cuddle and read together, doesn't matter if it's the same book or not. Sam strikes me as the kind of girl that will read the same book as her partner, though, just so they can talk about it. Further more, dates where she takes them to the bookstore for a new book and they sit in the café.
When they're out and about with friends, she always paying close attention so she can give her partner the rundown of what was said or what's going on. Group outings where they all go to an arts fair or something of the like.
Her love language is flowers. She's always buying red roses, because they're classic, but also bouquets of azaleas and forget-me-nots 💐 She's a little cheesy, but the meanings behind these flowers - the passion, the romance, the implication of true love - are so personal to her. She means it.

Chuck has Sam and Eileen zip-tied to chairs in a bright casino. He slowly approaches Sam, saying, “It’s as if there’s something festering inside of you. Something that won’t let go.” He unbuttons Sam’s shirt to uncover his wound, and Sam wrestles with his restraints a bit.
As he does this, Eileen pulls her phone out of her pocket silently. Chuck continues, “Now, I can’t see it. I can’t snap it away. But I know it’s there.” Eileen’s phone shows (1) missed call from Dean, and she surreptitiously calls him back. Sam asks Chuck, “So what, are you just gonna cut it out?”
Chuck says, “Hey, good idea!” Then we see Dean answer the phone in the bunker, saying, “Eileen? Where the hell are you? Eileen?” We can hear Chuck over the phone saying, “So helpful, Sam. Now sit still. I don’t really know what I’m looking for here, so this might get messy.”
Sam winces and leans away as Chuck puts his scalpel closer and closer to the wound on his shoulder. Then he looks up and grimaces slightly. He says, “Tsk, I think we have an audience.” He stands up and turns to face Eileen in her chair, then says, “Come on, Eileen.”
He approaches her and pulls the phone from her pocket, and Dean is still asking, “Eileen?” Chuck rolls his eyes and says, “Hi, Dean.” Dean pauses and says, “Chuck, you dick.” Chuck responds, “Bye, Dean.” Then Chuck throws the phone, breaking it against the ATM.
