i had this thought that the reason why arthur goes along with any job that dutch and hosea tell him to go on, despite how reluctant, or how much he really doesn't want to, or if he's having doubts is that in his head, he feels as if he is not being useful (and loyal) he is not worthy of love, and that's a thought that scares him, a little bit
i feel as if this is something that started with lyle, a man whom arthur despises so much that he thought the only thing that was wrong with his death was that it didn't happen sooner,
and it only grew when he was picked up by dutch and hosea, because, well, what reason would they have to gather up a street urchin, i mean, his daddy didn't want him, so why would these men want him to stay if he wasn't useful
id at least like to think that they maybe didn't mean to feed into it, and were only grateful for the help, at least, well, i can say that about hosea (because of his insistence for arthur to take a break, whether by hunting a bear or simply resting by the fire) though I'm not too sure on dutch (as even if arthur spends a minute in camp, dutch will tell him to stop loitering up the place) but i think its something that they (hosea) caught onto too late, and didn't look deeper into about why this kid was so insistent on doing the camp chores without a complaint in the world

ive been thinking about antipsych a lot lately which is a shame because i cant really do anything actionable with this because st lucia is nowhere near there yet. we have not reached the point of overpsychiatry, we still have so much skepticism. people constantly tell me my mental illness is because of a weak will or a weak spirit. the other day i met a school friend that is a corrections officer (did not know that when i met him and im not winning that fight) while i was filling my prescription and i let slip that i was there as a patient and he spent the next while essentially telling me to find faith in god and to ditch my meds, just making the assumption that they dont work for me. even people who are not overtly religious are uncomfortable with the fact that im medicated. like we arent there yet. people still dont believe mental illness is a problem, full stop.

Thinking about the article critiquing access as a concept and I think it is true that I have been hesitant to include subjective interpretations of vibe on the My Chem clips and gifsets I have been image describing lately, and I think that part of it is because what the fandom and I are responding to in many of those is finding them sexy! Like, so much of the tag commentary is a chain of “I will not say anything” and if you didn’t already know what people were responding to, you would have NO idea what they were talking about! That isn’t the fault of any one individual person, but I do think that much of tumblr has taken a turn toward discouraging expression of sexuality, and it does have implications for access, both in the disability sense and in the broader sense.

Torn abt buying these camo shorts bc on one hand. I am a rural queer and fuck the right wing co-opting of redneck aesthetics and style. but also. I'm goth and I don't usually wear green.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

i think we should remind musicians they can absolutely make up little stories for their songs btw. it doesn’t have to be about them at all. you can invent a guy and put him in situations to music. time honoured tradition in fact.

The secret Dungeon Meshi sauce that's getting people to eat better is that it's so non-judgmental. Senshi and the rest of the gang never talk about what not to eat besides things that taste bad and literal poison. They don't even talk about "health" that much besides the importance of a balanced diet. It's so much easier to eat well when you think of food simply as something your body needs, and that it's often worth the extra effort to make it taste good, especially when you understand how to connect "things your body needs" with "things that taste good"

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.
Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.
It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?
Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.

Personally I think that Azula should have been redeemed simply so that she can become Zuko's horrible little advisor who whispers evil little plans to him so that he can do the exact opposite

Husk and Alastor have a battle of wits, drinking, and jazz. AKA how I think Husk found out about Al’s situation.
Music: JK Sax’s cover of Tones and I “Dance Monkey”
I’m not a talented enough musician so I couldn’t make the music that was in my head lol but dance monkey fits pretty well.
Alastor: Husker, is that all you got? Hahaha, take another shot!
Husk: You ain’t on a sadist’s leash, you can’t know-it-all. Can’t know what I been through, if you ain’t at a beck and call!
Alastor: Ha! I win this spat with ease, looks like you’ve hit the wall. Cuz Jokes on you, I know that too, I know it all!
Husk: You…what?
Al: Perhaps, I’ve had too much to drink this time. Do yourself a favor, banish this night from your mind.
Husk: U-understood.
Al: Hm, good.
