Girl, I just realised that at the end of manga, we see everybody healthy and happy. Mikey and Takemichi saved everybody in the end. But we don't have any information about only one person. Inui Akane. What happened to her? Did they prevent the fire? Seishu doesn't have the scar at the end.

Ah that is one of the big mysteries about the ending! Just because she isn't there doesn't mean she's dead since there's also no Luna or Mana and we don't even see Yasuda or Yumi. And as you said Inui doesn't have his scar so that means either Takemichi and Mikey completely prevented the fire or they made sure Inui wasn't at home during the fire.

I feel like this comes down to if Takemichi and Mikey purposely tried to stop the fire or not. See obviously they would if theu knew but the problem is at no point do we see Inui or even Koko talk to them about the fire and even if they did they'd have to know the house location and the specific date at the very least. Though obviously they could've been told this at some point that we didn't see. We're also never told the cause of the fire so I'm not sure how you prevent that exactly so just getting Inui out of the house would've been the easier option. And of course Mikey and Takemichi would've somehow made sure Akane didn't go home too if they knew. But if they didn't know? If they changed the timeline enough meaning Inui wasn't home that night and it was all a coincidence? That of course raises further questions too though like if Inui wasn't home would Koko have searched longer and found Akane and rescued her???? It's a mystery!

4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

Not really?? I don't super read by authors unless they're "classics" or I'm reading a series. Also it's fairly rare that I like more than one book by an author. I read and liked both Douglas Stuart's books this year. I did NOT like both books I read by Deborah Levy (Hot Milk good Swimming Home blegh). I guess you could maybe say Nabokov because I read Pnin (meh) and Pale Fire (Meh but slightly better) this year and Lolita (good) last year...

17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

Sorry for saying Contact for all these answers but it was hands down my fav book I read this year. Maybe A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving? It took me a while to get through but I ended up really enjoying esp bc i went in with... Low expectations. I've got another book by him I got at the used book store but I haven't gotten around to it. Idk. It's just themes (friendship fate religion) I'm generally interested in and I like kind of a wimpy academic narrator and a bildungsroman...

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

Read Anna Karenina and LOTR. Probably read at least 100 books for year no3 in a row but will obv depend on what job I get slash what I do with my year from May on... So not wedded to that one.

I work in a call center (passive, roadside assistance). We have 3 managers, I'll number them. The flu is spreading fast at work, one more person ends up on sick leave every day. I'm part time, I'm in college, I don't get sick leave, but I can cancel my shift when I need to. (Legal, let's not elaborate.)

Anyway, on Sunday (12/15), I felt sick and canceled my shift last minute. Idk what it was, I just started losing vision when I stood up for too long and needed to lie down and knew I wouldn't make it to work. So I texted an apology to the nicest manager no1 (who was the only one working that day) and went back to bed.

On Monday, I felt better and told no1 I'd come in on Tuesday (12/17). I did, 2 coworkers (A+B) were at work sick that day, about 5 were on sick leave. It was a busy day.

On Wednesday I was at school. My coworkers said we had like 6 people sick, but A. showed up, powered through his shift though obviously sick. Key thing: He threw up multiple times during his shift. B. was already on sick leave.

I woke up today (Thu, 12/19) nauseous, then also threw up. We had a faculty Christmas party, I can still walk and talk and therefore work, I probably just ate something bad. I didn't drink because I knew I needed to go to work, so it can't be that.

So I texted my manager (no2). saying I was sick and threw up, but knew many people were sick and would come in if they need me since I heard we had way too many people sick and I probably just ate something bad. No2 said I should, so I said I'd head out.

10 minutes later, manager no3 called me. I picked up, she said no2 called and said I was sick. I did, added I was heading out. Apparently, I checked the wrong day in the schedule, no2 wasn't on shift that day. I apologized for that later.

So no3 called, immediately told me to stay at home and let them know in the evening if I'd make it to the rest of my shifts this week. Might be from food, might be I caught the colleague's flu, better not risk it and spread it at work.

So I thanked her and went back to bed. It must be chaos at work, but at least I can suffer at home, in peace, and see if I feel better soon.

TLDR: The flu is spreading at work. I started having some symptoms one morning, but felt functional and offered to come in anyway, left it up to the managers. The one I texted said I should come in, but I texted the wrong manager. The manager actually on shift called me 10 minutes later and told me to stay at home since they don't want to risk it.

🚨 Spoilers!!! 🚨

I have just finished the Six Of Crows for the first time. Before reading the book I was desperate to learn of what other people thought of it, so I searched up reviews on YouTube, there was a lot of conspiracy to wether this was a good YA read or not-this made me more anxious/desperate to read the book. Now that I’ve completed the Six Of Crows I can concur with many different points that people made, 1 being-Predictable

2-captivating

3- (can’t think of a word to summarise it) Every time a character/characters were in danger there would always be something/someone provided at the last second to help them. This really annoyed me! It was like reading a more advanced version of Harry Potter🙄. For an example- Locked in a cell, no lockpicks, or any means of escape. Suddenly, Jesper is a Fabrikator! Wow! How convenient! He melts the bars of the "most secure place on earth" and they escape.

Example no2- Inej is tasked with an impossible mission, she must climb an incinerator shaft...while it’s lit! Exhausted, Inej is half way up the shaft, she notices that her rubber soles are melting! All she needs is...hmmmm...water! And low and behold it starts raining! She makes it out of the shaft alive.

Example no3- Inej is wounded, bleeding out on a stack of creates, surrounded by armed men. Suddenly, Kaz! The most hated man out of the crowd managed to not get shot, climb up the creates, and save Inej, they make it to the boat.

Lastly, example no4- Comically, Nina is able to wipe out an entire army singlehanded! Somehow they were stupid enough not to destroy every trace of Jurda Parem! The shu boy (forgot his name) still has a sack of the drug left! Of course! This will encourage Nina’s powers to strengthen...she can kill every last Druskelle (idk if that’s spelt correctly). Annnnd you know what happens next.

It might sound as though I disliked this book, I don’t, I was just disappointed. I would say that it was suspenseful but, that would be lying. Every time something considered "suspenseful" would be happening I would be completely relaxed and reassured by Bardugo’s previous techniques that everything would be fine. That spoiled the book for me. Otherwise, I actually enjoyed it.

if it’s a genie, i’ll set them free with wish no3 bc come on i have manners and also like. a heart. if not, i’d like to keep it for later bc who knows that i’ll really really need a magic wish for in the near or far future. if i can’t do that then idk?? maybe something like a Lot of money so i can make sure my family is financially secure now and forever and so are my friends and so that i could slap hundreds of dollars down for every gofundme and emergency fundraising and respectable charity i see

i’m not really a cookie dough kinda person?? more of a “everything dough and batter even if it annoys my sister (everything i do ever annoys her anyway)” but that too only just to the extent of licking the bowl clean

both, mostly, but coffee wins. with lots of sugar and milk tho, idk how ppl can tolerate espressos, they just taste like sadness

(i’m shit at flavouring my tea anyway and my sister has probably disowned me for it at this point tbh, and also coffee as a flavour in things is also v v good so. coffee)

the cool thing about coffee is that caffeine just. doesnt really affect me?? so i dont get jittery from it or have to worry about not sleeping if i drink it late or Needing it in the morning, i just drink it for the joy of it. unless its what was the equivalent of probably like. four strong as shit freshly-ground-and-brewed espressos in half a day in which case it will knock me the Fuck out and i won’t even realise why (to be fair it was combined with a super intensive four-day course on something i’m not even good at but still. i didn’t realise it’d Do Things To Me??)
