Reminder from someone with actual literal brain damage from a brain injury to stop fucking using "brain damage" and "brain injuries" as a means of describing someone whose opinions you don't like or deem as stupid.
It's ableist and offensive as fuck, and for some reason a lot of leftist people think it's okay to use. I've seen posts replying to right wing racists calling them "brain damaged if you believe this" and "do you have a brain injury? do you not understand X?". Just now I saw a beautiful post about fat people throughout history that was absolutely ruined by opening with "How do we break it to boomers with actual brain damage and nostalgic brainrot..." before continuing to say that fat people existed throughout history.
Brain damage does not make you racist. A brain injury doesn't make you stupid, or fatphobic, or unaware of history and politics. Stop fucking using my disability as a catch all to describe people you think are shitty. Y'all use it like it's a replacement for how people used to use the R-slur, which shows you learned absolutely nothing about why the R-slur was wrong to use and decided to throw in other disabilities instead. Fuck off and stop doing it.
(And don't do it with other disabilities either, because I know y'all do.)
I know a lot of people with brain injuries. They're smart, and funny, and compassionate. They learn about the world and care about social issues and wish they could go to protests if their disability won't allow them to. Are there right wing people with brain injuries? Sure, absolutely. But they are not right wing because they have a brain injury, and using any disability as an insult is still fucking ableist.
Tldr - stop using brain damage and brain injury as an insult. It's ableist and incredibly offensive.
Love, your local brain injured/brain damaged pal

It's all about the number 2
Tumblr media
Asa and Yoru, Nayuta and Denji, two Chainsaw Man, two camps of worshippers versus detractors, two protagonists, a second part, the two identities of Denji, a high-school student and a hero himself, both demon and human: Chainsaw - Man.
But before we balance all that, let's take a closer look at this chapter.
Tumblr media
First of all, I'd like to say how rich chapter 140 is. I see a lot of people criticizing Fujimoto's writing as someone who simply sets up absurd situations when absolutely nothing is left to chance. We're reading a manga by a film buff, so get your head around Chekov's rifle.
I'd like to remind you that Chainsaw Man is set in Japanese society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ejecting a sect from a building, or even belonging to a cult that has nothing to do with a dominant, ancestral religion, is more common than in the West.
I've seen plenty of people wondering who could be at the head of the church for making people believe such a stupid story as a violet-ray weapon that would make adults stupid.
Tumblr media
When it's the other way around, the church is exploiting the fact that high-school students are just thinking too much. And if there's one thing that saves Denji, it's that he thinks less.
Let's put things in context: this is the '90s, and even if the idea of nuclear weapons has been erased by Pochita, meaning that the Cold War has surely taken a different form in Chainsaw Man, Fujimoto has never denied geopolitical tensions.
Whether it's the mention of the USSR with Reze, Makima's instrumentalization of Japan, the history of weapons, the fact that the American government sought to eliminate Makima or that countries share the remains of the weapon demon...
Tumblr media
Countries are in tension. The church exploits this atmosphere of anxiety among teenagers who are beginning to form opinions that dissent from their parents.
Adolescence means coming into conflict with your parents' ideas, so come up with a story about how a gun makes them stupid. It's simply targeted manipulation that exploits the vulnerabilities of individuals in the midst of an identity crisis.
Becoming a teenager also means freeing oneself from a certain carefree attitude and better understanding of the world around us, hence the mention of Americans on the same level as adults.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd like to point out that this is not just a collection of absurdities. But for that, a bit of history... I hope I'm not teaching anyone that Japanese society has been turned upside down by the United States.
Without going into too much detail, during the 19th century, Japan went through the Meiji era. The Meiji government pursued a policy of modernization with the ultimate aim of bringing Japan up to the level of the Western powers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To compete with Western powers such as the United States, the government relied on centralized power to control citizens as much as possible... and this involved reforming the matrimonial system. With the popularization of "love marriage", the Meiji government changed tactics: the polygamous system was replaced by exclusive "love marriage".
The church used the same method of control as the Meiji government: reforming the matrimonial system by overturning institutions. From now on, it's no longer sex after marriage, but before it.
Tumblr media
It's this kind of talk that just digs into the cracks that allows them to be brainwashed. But talk has never worked with Denji, who thinks concretely with what he can grasp. A date with a pretty girl, steak, sex, feeling the buttocks when he does the chair. What one would point to as perversity is what saves Denji. He thinks through his senses, his literal needs, not the abstract.
We can't say that Miri, who thinks he's free when he's being instrumentalized, repeating that it's the Americans' fault again, or asking Chainsaw Man if he's sure he hasn't picked up any ultraviolet weapons... that he’s stupid. Because weapons have lost their memory, they have no loved ones, no stories to refer to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miri convinces himself he's free, filling the void of his own forgotten history with false stories. The lack of education, of pillars, of history is what had tortured Denji, who was so easily manipulated. I'd go so far as to say that Reze is the most striking example of this.
Tumblr media
It's impossible to determine Barem's psychology, but he still demonstrates a third reaction to manipulation: while Denji evolves, Miri locks himself in denial : Barem manipulates in return. Revenge, reproductive mechanism, any number of reasons could explain why Barem exploits one of Denji's weaknesses: Asa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now you're thinking, yes, that's all very well, you talk a lot... but what's that got to do with the number two?
The scale is the very image of dichotomy, of a relationship between two forces, two weights, two entities. And what does it have to do with manipulation? Several things.
Tumblr media
First of all, manipulation also means taking on ideas that are not our own. It means no longer questioning them, confronting them with dissident ideas that would contradict them, or balancing them.
To balance is also to confront two options in a dilemma. Something that's come up several times, first initiated by Yoshida, then taken up in his own way by Barem: embrace his identity as Chainsaw Man or continue his normal life as Denji?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The manipulation since the start of Part 2 has been to split up Chainsaw Man. To have separated what constitutes his essence: human and demonic. To have split his nature, which has always been that of two beings in one.
And what if I told you that the answer lies in chapter 2 (yes, man). Here, Makima clearly explains to Denji that Pochita is not dead but continues to live with him, that he has two smells.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fami's project is openly to separate Chainsaw Man, to cut its essence in two: the reunion of two beings.
That's why this chapter talks about marriage, which refers to the reunion of two individuals.
Barem would have us believe that these two choices are antinomic, that they are contradictory and cannot be fulfilled together. Only Denji can have both choices, he had already answered that. His sign of strength is two fingers. Two is Denji's strength. Becoming two is what literally allowed him to be reborn.
Tumblr media
Of course, Denji doesn't want to marry; he's already one with one being through a contract: Pochita.
Pochita had merged with him so that he could live a normal life. It was never a normal life, but the life Denji wanted to live. Chainsaw Man is literally the means, a better life, the end.
The secret to surviving the manipulation then lies literally in Denji's heart.

Hate seeing people say that Transandrophobia isn't real because, in their words, the "androphobia" isn't something people in real life face.
Now. Maybe this is because when I see this opinion, it's attached to someone who is either transfem, AMAB, or who has only ever lived in incredibly liberal areas.
Meaning: They do not have the life experience to speak on that.
It's simple, I can use myself as an easy example: I grew up on the west side of the US. My extended family and parents were very Christian, very conservative. The community I grew up in was in turn the same- very conservative, very Christian, very fundamentalist. Certain Disney movies were banned from the house for featuring witchcraft, or other "morally reprehensible" things. DISNEY MOVIES.
With this background, I'm sure you can tell where this was headed: I can clearly remember being in the pharmacy with my mother. I was small. I saw a lady with what I now know is a pixie cut- incredibly short hair, bright bold pink. Her girlfriend was there, and her own hair was incredibly butch- like they went to a sports clips and asked for what the guy next to them was getting. I was amazed- I'd never seen a woman that looked like that before. I voiced so with awe and wonder to my mother. I was supposed to get a haircut in an hour. "I want that! She looks so pretty and nice"
Who was visibly disgusted. Grabbing me, yanking me away, muttering "no. You don't want to look like that. Let's go."
Fast forward a few years. I'm too young to be drinking a beer, my uncle has stayed up late. We are watching music videos and sharing interests, when we see a rather masc looking woman in a video. He's disgusted. He makes an offhand joke about how she needs to be reminded of her feminine ways. I know what violations he's implying so vividly. He opens up about his fantasy of hatecriming two butch "women" he saw. I'm too afraid to speak.
There's a debate in church. Should women be allowed to wear above the knee shorts? We really didn't like that they can wear pants. Really, the pastor says in his sermon- it's the woman's job to maintain her feminine nature, in opposition to her husband's masculine nature. These blurring lines aren't good for people.
And- I don't want to get into the people I've known who've been hurt, abused, forcefully feminized, beaten for being masculine- the men that feel entitled to their bodies, because they feel entitled to a say in how they present.
The reason you don't see the abuse for being masculine, is because you come from a world where it's widely accepted in ways that not every culture, not every state or country has.
Gnc women, trans men, transmasc nonbinary people- if you're in the wrong place, born to the wrong family, you may never be safe enough to wear pants. You may not be able to cut your hair. Or be anything less than the perfect, ideal woman.
You get punished for not being what you have been assigned. For the act of defiance against others perception, you can be killed.
So, yeah. There's a lot of androphobia. There's a LOT of fear of the masculine. It just comes out in ways you aren't expecting, as someone who hasn't had to experience it. You don't know what to look for. Where to look. It's everywhere but you can be blind to it if you're insulated enough.
Hell- even terfs are falling into severe androphobia. It's their whole motto. What am I, if not a failed woman to them? Mutilating my perfect feminine form? Being a man is the ultimate crime to these people. Are you really telling me JKRs very public campaign hasn't made life hell for ALL of us? We are all losing healthcare due to this.

Hi!
Have you seen Georgia's insta story? She's filming david and one of the kids called her a creep
https://instagram.com/stories/georgiatennantofficial/3212913988487468030?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
The only purpose of the video is just showing that even the kids think that her filming david all the time is weird
Like, yeah all of it is probs a joke but it rubs me the wrong way🤔
What's your opinion? Your blog is the 1st place i go to when i see news abt DT, GO or MS
Tumblr media
(Grouping together since these are related.)
Hi there! Oh, I hadn't seen Georgia's Insta story until I saw your Ask, so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
A little backstory, for those who haven't seen it: Today was David's panel at NYCC, and he started to tell an anecdote about being given a pair of shoes for Christmas when members of the audience began shouting out telling him to tie his (very pink) shoes that were untied on stage. David actually tied the shoes, and the video of the moment was posted by NYCC on Twitter. An hour or so later, Georgia jumped in with a response and at the same time, posted this story on Insta (and the photo in Georgia's tweet appears to be from the same day that the video was taken):
For my part, I was under the impression that this was not a recent video, so to your question @phantomstars24, I don't think she is actually at NYCC with David. Rather, it looks like Georgia was searching for David's name on Twitter (again) and found a place to jump in with the screenshot and video.
In giving my opinion on this, I have to reference Georgia's Insta story from last month at the festival she and David attended, where she recorded him while he was walking and eating his ice cream:
vimeo
Here, we see David take notice of the fact that Georgia is recording, after wondering why she was walking so slowly. He turns away for a moment, then looks back at her and says, "It's never gonna stop," and his voice is uncharacteristically...terse. He doesn't smile, or laugh, or give any indication that he is kidding (that I picked up on, at least). David's energy and the video as a whole just seemed off, but like many of Georgia's posts, it was written off as a joke.
The voice we heard of one of Georgia's children in today's video reminded me of that. Leaving aside the fact that this child actually flat-out called Georgia a "creep" (for which I'm also hard-pressed to find some alternate/jokey meaning) for recording David, the theme in both of these videos is Georgia constantly recording David for the sake of having content. And as we saw with today's Insta story, her then saving that content to use at a later date. I know the people who hate-read my blog will insist that Georgia gets permission from David before posting anything on social media and that he's fine with it, but it is really hard to think that he seems fine in the video from the festival. And how okay would any of us be if our partner constantly took video of us not to make cute memories, but so they can use it to prove a point later on?
As I've said before, all we get is this little slice of their lives that Georgia shares on social media. But increasingly, those little slices are starting to look like moments that might have been better left unrecorded/not posted to social media. To hear Georgia's own child call her out like that was jarring, but it also made me wonder how much they do see/what they think of what they are seeing. Even now it says something that they're already aware of her social media use and the lengths she is going to for content. (For that matter, I wonder what they will think in the future, such as if/when Birdie sees Georgia's Insta post calling her a "drunken accident"...)
Again, this could easily all be chalked up to me just missing whatever the joke/dry humor is here, but these were the impressions I had from seeing Georgia's content today. Happy as always to hear what others think, however, so feel free to chime in on this post...

Human Things that Confuse Knives
silly little things that us humans do or have that Knives finds weird or confusing. he's probably ooc since in reality he probably wouldn't care but he loves and cares you so<3
also Legato shows up once and you and him are best friends(Also probably ooc all I know is that he has blue hair and pronouns)
•the personification of objects he's watched you bump into tables or walls and most of the time you'd turn around and?? apologize? or even telling a pencil that was rolling to stay
•Knives asked you about it one day, stating in a pretty patronizing way that those objects aren't alive. you just kinda look at him for a second, before looking away, "huh, I don't know, I've never really thought about it, I just kinda? say it without thinking."
•even more confused if you have a stuffed animal that you talk to.
you're working on a little project, mumbling to yourself every now and then, when you sit up and turn towards your plush, "what do you think?"
Knives watches as you stay silent and he's about to ask what you mean when you nod assuredly, turning back to your project saying, "I think it's stupid too."
he stares at your back with a confused maybe even offended look as you work. did you just ask for it's opinion? hello? he's right there to answer questions and give you opinions! he blinks before looking away, no he's not slightly jealous, he's just very confused.)
•if you follow the 5 second rule, ngl, he's gonna think you're gross, even if the floor was just cleaned. if you're about to eat it, he's grabbing your wrist and snatching it with a napkin telling you not to eat it.
"aww, but our cat will eat off the floor sometimes," you say teasing him.
Knives scowls at you before turning and walking away. "Have some dignity." (he tries hard to ignore the way you burst out laughing.)
•the way humans just kinda forget things once in a while.
you walked into your shared bedroom, looking like you're about to ask him something, when your face just blanks. Knives is about to ask what you need when your eyebrows furrow as you say, "I was gonna ask you something, but I forgot what. oh well, I'll be back later when I remember."
and you're gone just like, as Knives stares at where you just were. It's only five seconds later when you're running back in asking him if he's free the next day.
•Knives knows to a degree that humans forget things, he's seen Conrad forget about things every now and then, but he kinda chalked it up to old age? so seeing you forget something every once in a while(or maybe even regularly) worries him a bit.
•Conrad has to assure him that this is just a normal human thing that can be worse for some. Knives doesn't quite believe it at first, but as long as you're safe and okay, that there's really nothing serious going, then he'll calm down. if you do have poor short term memory then he'll start giving you small reminders. "Have you taken your medicine yet?" "you have a meeting in a half hour."
•drinks or foods causing you to have nightmares or really weird dreams.
you were tossing and turning in bed and it was starting to get on Knives' nerves.
"why can't you fall asleep?" he askes when you turn around once more.
you sit up and look at him, replying, "I'm a bit hungry, I guess I didn't have enough dinner."
Knives raises an eyebrow, "why don't you go make a snack then?"
"I tend to get weird nightmares whenever I eat before sleeping," you respond nonchalantly, as if it wasn't one of the weirdest things you just said.
his eyebrows furrow in confusion at that. "what do you mean?"
"exactly what I said. I don't know, it's just something that happens to a lot of people. pretty weird, right?" he only nods in agreement.
•irrational fears. Knives knows those fears aren't something you can completely control, and he knows you know that they're irrational, but it still confuses him. he doesn't dwell on it much though, they're called irrational fears for a reason.
•sharing foods or drinks (especially if it tastes bad) Knives thinks it's pretty gross, you're basically sharing germs.
one time you had ordered a drink from a little shop in a town that Knives was 'visiting' even though he directly told you to stay in the truck.
when he and Legato come back with the plant, you're there idly sipping the drink and he glares at you. "I thought I told you to stay in the truck. what is that?"
you just hum, pulling the drink into your view to look at replying, "yeah I got thirsty so I bought this drink, but it tastes pretty bad. you wanna try it?"
Knives glare hardens, even though there's no real malice behind it. "of course not. why are you still drinking it?
"because I'm thirsty," you reply in a deadpan tone. you then turn towards Legato, gesturing to the drink. "you wanna try it?"
Legato stares at you for a second, before taking the drink. he takes a drink and his face immediately scrunches up in disgust, "ugh this tastes horrible."
there's a pause before he takes one last sip before handing it back to you as you laugh. "it really does! but it's so bad it's good isn't it? you're really missing out Knives!"
Knives rolls his eyes. he doesn't think he'll ever understand the curiosity and the urge to try things even if it may be horrible.
(he eyes you every time you feed the cat because he's heard you say 'hm I wonder what cat food tastes like.' you haven't tried it yet and he hopes the stare he's burning into your head will keep you from trying.)
(also, Vash on the other hand would eagerly take a sip before going bleuugh why would you make me try this;( )
•allergies themselves don't confuse him. in fact it furthers his ideal that humans are weak and inferior beings. it's how you ignore your allergies to eat or drink what you shouldn't. you know it'll make you miserable later so why? Knives will not comfort or care for you once your symptoms kick up, you brought this upon yourself even with his warnings.
•however! if you have a very serious or deadly food allergy, he will become very careful and stern with you. no, you can't have a taste or even a lick, even if it only causes you minor discomfort, Knives won't risk it. he's always making sure you have your epipen with you. he'll also double check food or medicine and read over the ingredients list to make sure. you're his human and you already have such a limited time together, he doesn't want to lose you to such a seemingly small thing.
(Also rip if you're allergic to UV rays, good luck on that planet. Knives might just keep you inside most of the time;( )
•this isn't something that really happens on Gunsmoke, but a person joints or bones hurting when the weather is about to change. when you woke up in the morning, you went out to the living room giving Knives a good morning before yawning.
he only gives a hum and as your stretching you say, "I think it's gonna rain soon."
Knives raises an eyebrow at that, looking out the window to see how gloomy it is. "what makes you say that?" he asks it in a bit of a sarcastic way.
"my legs hurt," you say joining him on the couch.
"what does that have to do with the weather?"
"oh something to do with the barometric pressure changing that affects your muscles or whatever."
Knives blinks. he didn't know that and part of his mind goes back to how humans really are weak, but he let's it pass. "I see." human bodies are odd he thinks.
•speaking of injuries/pain, Knives once encountered a man that was running from him trip and tumble down a rather long cliff. Knives walked to the cliff edge expecting to see the man's broken, unmoving body, however he's taken aback to see the man pretty much unscathed (apart from maybe some bruises and scratches.) the man gave himself a once over, looking up at Knives and then running away.
Knives thinks about that moment every once in a while, but especially now as you're talking about how one of the scientists broke their wrist tripping down the stairs. he's thinks a lot about it, how can human bodies be so weak yet also be so durable? he'll never admit he thought of that last part though
•mimicry. or like picking up habits from other people you hang out with. Knives never really payed attention to it when around the people who work under him, but he definitely notices how your speech patterns or body language change or grow over time. a small smirk appears on his face when he hears or sees you have picked up something from him and a bit of pride sparking within him.
it doesn't actually confuse, he supposes it's a way of connecting or natural thing, he just finds it a bit amusing. (until you've picked up an annoying word of catchphrase lol)(thinking of an isekai and you keep saying things that make no sense to literally everyone there. wtf does pog mean)
•running up to something in a shop window or even on the ground just because it's shiny. you look at whatever caught your eye for a couple of seconds before nodding and going back to Knives' side. he doesn't know what it is with you and shiny things.

Amidst all the James Somerton fallout, I think it's important to remember not to moralize whether or not you or others fell for his grift.
Obviously, if you were rallied into being one of his attack dogs on social media when he put some pretty heinous hits out on people, uh. You might have other problems and should probably evaluate how you spend your time online and how you treat other people before you start caring about the rest of the points I'm about to make. Priorities, etc.
But for the rest of us, it's surprisingly easy to miss just how awful a creator can be.
If you only watched his videos that caught your interest, if you don't really follow creators on social media, if you skip livestreams because watching Some Guy talk unfiltered into a bad camera angle with shitty lighting for hours on end sounds like a fucking nightmare to you, you're not really gonna catch most of this shit. At least, you're not gonna catch most of it from any perspective but the one he tries to spin.
This is a reminder to be skeptical and to trust your gut and check sources if something sounds wrong, but also. Uh. That's still the creator's responsibility not to plagiarize and to fact check their work. You're not morally obligated to be as thorough in curating your experience as someone who is making sure they take every ethical precaution before absolutely destroying a "creator's" credibility in a video like H-Bomb's or Todd in the Shadows'. You're literally just some guy. Most people, myself included, watch these videos as background noise while doing at minimum one other task, you're not gonna google every damn thing he says, especially not on media analysis, where the POINT is to have one's own opinion. THEY'RE the ones trying to be "influencers," or, laughably, "creators." The standards are on them.
And for the isms, phobias, and misogyny, well. Frankly, for my own perspective, I gaslight myself all the damn time when I see red flags. Good Allyship™ has been telling me for years to ignore my own discomfort when someone criticizes a privileged group, especially one I'm a part of. I'm a cis asexual white-passing and probably neuroatypical woman, I am constantly trying to be aware of my own relative privilege while simultaneously doubting my own reaction to things. Despite this, I'd still liked to think I'm a skeptical person, but nobody's immune to everything. Everybody has weak spots.
If you got duped or fell for James' scam, that sucks. I feel ya. I fell for it too, I've seen probably 40% of his catalog over the last couple years and really liked what I'd seen. I recommended his channel and videos to people even if I didn't always agree with every point he made, but it felt important to at least consider what to me seemed like a unique perspective that had value or added to a conversation. There are red flags within his content, his analysis, his rate of publishing, his weird diatribes, that in retrospect, really all added up into things I should have known better than to ignore. But, for reasons I'm interrogating and am adding to my list of things to be aware of about myself, I didn't ignore them, and got grifted. I donated to his patreon a few times, probably gave him like $20 grand total over the years, about as much as I've given H Bomb. The important take away here isn't to be ashamed of the fact that you were fooled, it's to remember that you're fallible.
And it's good to recognize that about yourself. Everyone is, and the ones who say they aren't are lying. They're either gonna be the next person to feel really stupid and foolish when they fall for a scam, or are themselves the grifter.
No one is immune.

Okay fuck it I'm done.
Remember that little rant I had a while ago about Jaehaera? And how she was just a little girl that deserved so much better?
Well today I saw this
Tumblr media
And now there's an even bigger rant incoming.
I'm just flabbergasted, I don't know what to say except are you really this petty?
This person on Twitter commissioned a wonderful portrait of Aegon III's family, which looks great, I really have nothing against the artist, he was just doing his job.
Buut, as that user says
"Note a certain Doll tossed aside on the left next to Aegon😏"
So yes, a team black stan was so mad at the mere suggestion that Daenaera would be cut from the ending of hotd that they commissioned a well known Asoiaf/f&b artist to draw Aegon's family with a little doll to remind us that Jaehaera is dead and thus no longer in the way.
I just have to say...
What is wrong with you? Seriously, I admit I've spent some money on hotd/asoiaf related things out of passion for the story, but I've never gotten to the point of commissioning art to spite people in the fandom that have an opinion I don't agree with.
Also, alright, you don't like the greens, that's fine! We all have our own tastes. But this? It's just sick. Wanting a fictional, traumatized 10 year old girl to be dead so badly you pay people to remind everyone that she's gone is on another level. Cause I firmly believe this was drawn only for that reason, not to actually show a wholesome family portrait.
I'm so done with these people. Do they ever go outside of their mom's basements? Have they ever touched grass? I don't think so, otherwise they'd spend their money for better things than celebrating a child's death.
This is the kind of team black person who will happily watch blood and Cheese happen and cheer when Jaehaeys is decapitated.
The sheer toxicity of this fandom is unbelievable. I genuinely haven't seen this amount of pettyness since the days before the aot ending.
Get a life, seriously.
P.s
I got this image from the r/hotdgreens sub on Reddit.

Maybe this is a controversial opinion, but its one that I've been reminded of in the few weeks since things have escalated so severely in Israel and Palestine-- I feel like the pressure for random, average individuals online to be vocally political is not only entitled and uncomfortable, but also just an example of misplaced priority.
Like, I have people on twitter right now that are flat out saying if you don't talk extensively about I/P you're truly, irredeemably evil. I've had mutuals say that silence means you're complacent in genocide, that you have blood on your hands (exact words). But it just doesn't make sense? Most of the people who I've seen being flat out harassed for being silent are teenagers who don't have money to donate, working class folks who don't have time to spare, and normal people who just don't have enough of a following online to even spread any word effectively. Of course, the ones doing the harassing are also poor/busy/not-popular, but they don't see the irony. (I've also seen them say that talking about war constantly is taking a toll on their mental health, saying they've cried, had nightmares, panic attacks, etc...but they also say that taking a mental health break from social media is "selfish" and genocidal, so.)
The whole interaction leaves me with so many questions. If stepping away from social media because politics are stressing you out (which they are known to do), are you obligated to use social media? Do you have to use twitter to be a good person? What does that say about people who can't afford a phone, or live in a country where it isn't quite possible? (Are homeless folks inherently genocidal, or is that an "obvious" exception that was never clarified because no one uses nuance anymore?) If you have to talk about world events, lest you side with the oppressor, at what point is something so catastrophic you *must* talk about it? Is there a number of lives lost that is low enough you can get away with being quiet, and a certain amount too high that you're obligated to talk about it? Is it your duty to have the news on 24/7 to make sure you don't miss anything and catch all the global disasters as they happen? How much do you have to talk about something for it to be considered "enough"? Is there a quota??
It just feels like a lot of people are acting as if people who aren't chronically online aren't 1. doing any activism, because the only important activism is social media networking (sarcasm), or 2. are inherently bad people for *not* spending 6 hours a day on their phones. Like, I had someone I thought was a friend say I was a bad person because I was trying to cut down my social media usage, because the timing was "too convenient"... as if that's a normal thing to say to someone, ever. Sorry if I went on a little bit of a rant, it wasn't my intention. I dunno, maybe it's just me; I've seen a lot of people saying this sort of stuff so maybe they are the majority. It just feels really weird to let people that are addicted to social media take charge of who online is "good" or "bad" based off their internet usage. As if we were all catholics or something. If I were to say that current takes on morality were very catholic-seeming, would you know what I mean?
As recently noted, I am myself on an embargo from answering asks related to this topic. I will make one exception because this is important. Please note that any wank in replies or reblogs will be instantly blocked (and I won't hesitate to disable reblogs if necessary). I will not be answering follow-up asks or getting drawn into Discourse. I do not want to do it and it will not be happening.
I have said it before, but it bears saying again: thinking that the only way to Do Activism is to be constantly on social media and immersing yourself in terrible things nonstop and then posting the Most Correct Opinions (and then viciously attacking anyone who is even slightly Not As Correct as you) is absolutely bullshit. If you're engaging with this content so much that it's giving you a mental breakdown or otherwise plunging you into a spiral of anxiety that you take out on other people who are just as far removed from actually doing anything about it as you: why? Do you really think that you and you alone, one random person on the Internet, are the only way anyone else is going to find out about these things? Or do you think you have to perform the Most Correct Opinions nonstop, viciously harass anyone who isn't responding in exactly the same way, and this is the sum total of what your response should be? Especially in a situation as bloody and complicated as this, dealing with reams of religious, social, cultural, and political history where the average commentator on this conflict knows only what's been fed to them by propaganda on TikTok? How the fuck is that useful or constructive for anyone, aside from perpetuating the idea that you have to be angry all the time on social media about things you essentially know nothing about? I can't see that it does.
What's happening to the Gazans right now is no qualification or equivocation, a genocide. It should rightfully be opposed and called what it is. But unfortunately, I have spent too much time around Western Online Leftists to believe they actually care a whit about stopping genocide as a fundamental principle, and only want to be seen to loudly care about what their Ideology has told them to care about. If it means hand-waving aside genocide and atrocities when committed by their preferred polities, so be it. Why haven't these same people been wall-to-wall up in arms about what Russia has been doing in Ukraine, or for God's sake Syria for the past ten years, if they're really concerned about the rights of innocent Muslim civilians attacked by a far-right imperialist power? Why not the Uighurs in China? Why not [insert the blank] of all the terrible things happening in the world as a result of far-right fascist genocidal imperialism? Why only this conflict? Why now? Why does it involve so much excusing of terrorism as long as it's committed for the Right Ideology? Why are some of the most loudly pro-Palestinian accounts on here also the most rabidly pro-Russian? How does that make sense? To put it bluntly, those genocides are being committed by nation-states that Online Leftists like for being "anti-Western," and therefore their activities are actually fine and should even need to be defended.
My point is not to say that what's happening to the Palestinians is not bad. It is. It is awful and inexcusable. However, I seriously doubt the motives and morality of those who are being the loudest about screaming on social media and attacking everyone else for not instantly repeating their views. I seriously doubt that the Online Left actually opposes genocide and accelerationism as fundamental principles, because they proudly demonstrate every day that they don't. Until those vast factors can be dismantled and shown for what they are, and this can be placed into its larger context, I don't buy it and I don't believe this wall-to-wall social media outrage factory is actually aimed at helping the Gazans or anyone else suffering the most as a result of this. It is just to show that they can be counted on to Perform Outrage and harass anyone else who doesn't do the same, and that does nothing for anyone whatsoever.

Ginniversary drabble 15
Prompt: #I19 -- The girl shouldn't have been sacked but if he said anything he'd make it worse.
Read on AO3 or below:
Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes was packed almost to bursting. Harry's plan to sneak under the invisibility cloak was swiftly abandoned; there was no room to manoeuvre. It didn't matter, he slid through the door and was immediately swallowed by the crowd.
The year-long closure had done nothing to dull the shine of the shop. Harry still didn't know where to look, he was captivated by a cacophony of colourful flashes, smoke-plumed bangs, and the sparkling whizz of a hundred different products all fighting for his attention.
His eyes wandered from one bright distraction to another as he navigated the crowd, only stopping when they fell on her.
She was, in his opinion, brighter than any firework could wish to be. The magenta staff robes that he had always thought clashed horribly with the signature Weasley hair, dulled in comparison to Ginny's smile until they were hardly noticeable.
Harry paused by a display of edible Dark Marks (clearance: buy one get one free), watching as Ginny directed a stack of skiving snackboxes onto a free topshelf with her wand.
An elderly woman was talking to her, holding up a fanged frisbee which looked to have been roughly torn from its packaging and now had several fangs missing.
“I'm sorry,” Ginny said, still smiling despite the scowl the woman was throwing at her. “I can't take it back without a receipt.”
“I don't have a receipt!” The old lady practically yelled.
Ginny's knuckles turned white where she gripped her wand. “I know, that's why I can't–”
“Oi, miss!” A middle-aged wizard with a grey beard and two children in tow barged up to Ginny.
The corners of her smile twitched. “I'll be with you in a–”
The bearded wizard shook his head. “I've been looking everywhere for an assistant.”
“Yes, if you could just give me a–”
He interrupted her again, apparently oblivious to the dangerous undercurrent in Ginny's voice that Harry found unmissable. “Does anybody actually work in this shop?”
Even Harry couldn't deny that the red flush slowly creeping over Ginny's face clashed jarringly with the magenta robes now. Her eyes narrowed to slits. “Yes, people do work here,” she hissed. “It might have escaped your attention, because clearly you think the world revolves around you, but we're actually quite busy today.”
The elderly witch gasped dramatically. Harry resisted the urge to grin.
The bearded wizard didn't have the good sense to appear affected by Ginny's tone at all. He crossed his arms defiantly over his chest. “I want three bottles of Otter's fizzy orange juice.”
“I want a refund!” The elderly witch chimed in.
A tiny huff of indignation escaped Ginny. Harry was strongly reminded of the puffs of air he'd seen escape an angry dragon's nostrils on more than one occasion. “Well, I want a lifetime supply of fizzing whizzbees, a pet unicorn, and five minutes free of entitled demands, but it looks like none of us are getting what we want, are we?”
The elderly witch clutched at her chest in a great show of shock. The bearded wizard's hands curled into fists. Harry took a step forward, pushing through the crowd in a bid to reach Ginny before the situation escalated.
George got there a moment before Harry did, appearing smoothly from the crowd and clapping a jovial hand on the wizard's shoulder. “Free of charge,” he said, offering three bottles of luminous orange liquid to the man before turning to the elderly witch with a smile that Harry had previously thought was reserved for Mrs Weasley. “If you go and see Verity at the counter, she'll be happy to refund you.”
“What?” Ginny burst out as both the wizard and the witch, apparently pleased with George's offers, melted into the crowd. “A refund? It's missing half its fangs because her grandchild is more feral than the product!”
George laughed loudly; his fingers dug into Ginny's shoulder pulling her back towards the wall. Harry followed, receiving only a short nod from both of them in acknowdgement of his arrival.
They turned to glare at one another in a way that suggested this wasn't their first argument in the four hours since Ginny had taken up employment in the shop. Harry hovered a few steps away.
“Ginny, you're fired,” George said, immediately confirming Harry's suspicions.
Ginny's eyes flicked to him, but Harry remained silent. He didn't think she should be sacked, but if he said anything he'd make it worse. He knew better than to come into in the middle of a Weasley sibling argument.
“You can't be serious!” Ginny fumed. “Because of a few egregiously rude customers?”
George laughed again, a sound that only served to increase Ginny's ire, judging by her expression. “That wasn't egregiously rude… once I had a woman ask me if I wanted to explain to her child why I'd decided to ruin Christmas, because we'd sold out of aviatomobiles.”
Her arms folded and she glared at the polished wooden floor. “Well, that kid's christmas was probably already ruined by having awful human beings for parents.”
‘Thats not the point,'' George persisted. "You made Wally Dixon cry."
"Wally Dixon cries at everything." Ginny shrugged, looking up at George defiantly. "I can't be held responsible for that."
"And I can't have crying patrons fleeing my shop – its bad for business."
“Fine!” Ginny declared. “I didn't want to work here anyway!”
She didn't wait for George to respond, already taking off into the crowd, her hand brushing against Harry's as she sidled past him, presumably to rid herself of the magenta robes.
George watched her go, shaking his head as he turned his eyes upon Harry. “Is it her charming personality that you're attracted to? Or is there something else I'm not seeing?”

I was hoping you could do Secondo with a s/o who is kinda clingy and talks a lot, but he finds out it’s cause they are constantly talked over and left out of stuff
Secondo being the supportive partner we need and deserve tbh. I made the friend group in this one sound... kinda not nice?? Not bullies or anything like that, but more the kind of friends I've had experience with that I wouldn't want others to have to go through bc it makes you feel like you're invisible
It's something that he finds out pretty quickly after hanging out with you and your friends for the first time
Secondo is incredibly perceptive after all
You'd introduced him to your friend group because yall were gonna go out for a night on the town as it were
It all seemed normal at first. He had no reason to think anything was wrong
You'd always been clingy and very chatty with him, so you clinging to him wasn't out of the ordinary for him and it's something he appreciates in a partner after being used by so many for his power and influence
When you cling to him, it's because you adore him as a person and you have no ulterior motives
What first makes Secondo realise the way you get treated in your friend group is how un-chatty you become in comparison to when it's you and him
And how unphased by this your friends are as they carry on their conversations and having their drinks as if you're not even there
It becomes clear to him when you try to pipe up and everyone talks over you and ignores you mid-conversation that perhaps the reason you don't talk is because they don't let you
After that night, he vows to himself to observe how you are with them in other settings in case it was just a one off
Turns out that no, it was not a one off
You almost shrink in on yourself when you're with your friends and he fucking hates it
So he does the one thing he thinks to do before anything else: he inserts himself in conversations
If he thinks you've got something to say, he'll interject and state his opinion then ask you what you think in a way that makes it very obvious that he wants to hear your opinion and not anyone else's
When someone talks over you, he pointedly clears his throat and then gestures for you to speak up
If they continue to ignore you and talk over you, that's when he starts getting angry
He will call out every single one of your friends for their treatment of you and how much of a polar opposite you are with him in comparison to them
And when he finds out that they've been purposely leaving you out of hang outs and activities?
They will live to regret that
He will give them a dressing down and demand that they treat you far better or stop stringing you along because it's not fair for you to be made to feel so invisible by people who are meant to care about you and value you as a human being
He's your biggest supporter. He fights in your corner. He advocates for you, your opinions, your thoughts, who you are as a person
And he makes it abundantly clear that they need to take a good long look at themselves if they've been deliberately leaving you out and talking over you
Secondo will apologise in private for letting his temper go like that because he doesn't want to make life hard for you
But fuck, he can't watch you become this quiet mouse of a person because of their behaviour and treatment of you when he's seen how chatty and wonderful you are
He jokes that "nobody puts my baby in the corner" and will put music from Dirty Dancing on to get you giggling while he tries to get you to dance with him
If you do stay friends with them and they do genuinely change for the better, he's going to make sure to remind you the first few times you hang out with them alone that your voice and your opinion are just as valuable as theirs and he doesn't want you to extinguish your flame for anyone
If they don't change, I like to think that Secondo would do whatever he can to make you truly see your worth and realise that you deserve to be treated far better. He won't force you to not be friends with them because he's not an asshole, but he does remind you of your worth and that there are going to be people in your life who value you and will treat you the way you deserve to be treated

So, we know that Shanks didn't leave East Blue after the Loguetown incident. He heard of Yasopp's fame as a sniper and went to recruit him. Then we skip to Foosha, after he's formed a crew, where he meets Luffy. And we all know how the story goes from there. He stays there for a year, leaves for the Grand Line and is recognised as as a yonko six years later.
Now, here's the problem: That "skip" from Loguetown to Foosha is a whopping 12 years. What the fuck was this man doing all those years??? We have no idea. All we know is that he regularly dueled with Mihawk and had that infamous fight with Blackbeard that left him with his scar (exact time unknown). But other than that? Absolutely nothing.
Here is what we do know though: Benn Beckman is from the North Blue, and Lucky Roux is from the South Blue. So, Shanks was just possibly going around all four blues recruiting people before going into the Grand Line? Makes sense. Except 12 years seems like an awfully long amount of time for that... Especially considering in the main storyline of One Piece, not even a full year has passed, ignoring the timeskip.
Blackbeard was part of Whitebeard's crew back then too, so he must have been in the Grand Line, right? So either;
A) Shanks entered the Grand Line once before, had his fight with Blackbeard there, and came back to the East Blue for an unknown reason. Or,
B) Blackbeard left the Grand Line for whatever reason and they had their fight in one of the four blues.
I think option A is more plausible. But that begs the question, what was Shanks doing in the Grand Line if not building his reputation, and why did he come back to the East Blue? The most accepted theory (I think?) is about what Roger said to him after returning from Laugh Tale. Whatever information was passed between them (which made Shanks cry btw, so maybe he also told him he'd be dying soon?) it must have been somehow related to Joy Boy, even though we can't exactly know what it is. Roger has said that he was sad about missing Joy Boy's time, being a bit early. And he's also said that he wishes his son would be the one to find One Piece even though he didn't have a son back then. So, if Shanks was aware of Joy Boy and the devil fruit, he probably spent his time in the Grand Line looking for it, after forming a reliable crew for which he traveled tne whole world. When he eventually found it, he stole it, and brought it to the East Blue. Why? Who's in the East Blue? It's Ace. It's always been Ace. Shanks wanted to fulfill his captain's dream and pass on the title of new generation's hope onto his son. That's why he told Buggy he wouldn't look for the One Piece, which led to their falling out. Buggy always believed Shanks would become the next Pirate King, but Shanks knew he wasn't meant to be the one, it was Ace. But things didn't go according to plan when Luffy ate the fruit. We have two possibilities once again. Either;
A) Shanks saw Roger in Luffy before the boy ate the fruit, and arranged it so that he would find it and eat it.
Or,
B) Luffy found and ate the fruit before Shanks saw his potential by pure coincidence.
I honestly don't know which one it is, and I don't think it matters much. Either way, Shanks' plan didn't go like what he had in mind but fate made it so that things would work out anyway. Only after making sure the future was in safe hands could he go on to the Grand Line once again to make a name for himself. He did say that he bet his arm on the future after all.
So, what do you think?? I think this theory makes the most sense but I'd be interested in hearing other opinions, or add ons to this one.
Also, six years in the Grand Line before becoming an emperor is quite long too, I think. I wonder how Shanks rose to that status? Who was his predecessor and what happened to them?? Or was there no predecessor and only three emperors??? (I've seen people say Rocks pirates ruled the seas and the emperor system didn't exist yet but let me remind you all, Rocks pirates disbanded at God Valley when Shanks was only one year old. So emperors have existed for more than 30 years probably.) Shanks probably had a plan for his second (technically third) journey on the Grand Line too but what was his goal this time??? So many questions about this man and I didn't even bring up the case of how he was found by the Roger pirates exactly during the God Valley incident, which is a very important event that ties into so many plot points. And inside a treasure chest of all things??? This guy drives me insane STOP BEING MYSTERIOUS STUPID RED HAIRED MAN

Feel free to send me asks so I can help you individually!!! I'll be working with a friend to help anyone who is having a difficult time with team building for this fight in specific.
I've seen a lot of people struggling with the Aventurine boss so here's just a reminder on how you should chose your teams and how your should use them on this fight:
Bring character AOE attacks or that can hit twice in a turn! Avoid hunt characters, I know a lot of people want to bring Ratio to this fight and you can if he's faster than his teamates and has his ult up on the dice phase, but also the Aventurine boss has massive Imaginary RES so I wouldn't recomend that.
Characters with follow ups that can trigger without the need of an enemy activity are good options as well!
Your life support on the team should either be someone who can tank the hits when losing a bet or someone with an AOE
From each path, here's the characters I'd recomend using:
Destruction - All of them minus Xueyi
Hunt - Topaz (and Ratio if you take in consideration what I said before but I wouldn't recomend it)
Erudition - All of them
Harmony - Any of them that you've stacked with HP or DEF and can survive hits, otherwise I'd go without a buffer since none of them hits AOE and most are very squishy
Nihility - Kafka, Pela (save her ulti for the dice phase if she isn't built to tank hits), Sampo, Guinafen, Black Swan and Acheron
Abundance - Luocha and Gallagher are your best options but in general I'd recomend taking a preservation life support instead because:
Preservation - Honestly I would recomend any of them, March can hit AOEs on her ulti and use her turn to apply a shield to anyone who cant, Fu Xuan ans fire Trailblazer also have AOE ultis, Gepard will tank the hits and with enough ER he'll be able to shield anyone who can't win the bets, if you're waiting for Aventurine he can provide shield's very reasily but he will not be reliable with his follow-ups if you want him to hit AOE on the dice phase and his DMG will be reduced from the IMG RES
This is all my personal opinion on how to make this fight easier, surviving the dice phase is where I believe the biggest struggle is, if your struggle is with DMG remember to check your builds and level up your lightcones and traces!! But if you're struggling you should double down on survivability and take the fight slowly, bring two life supports from preservation and/or abundance and two reliable DMG dealers if needed!!

why do you dislike michie? /genuinely curious
cracks my knuckles. I'm so glad you asked, dear anon!
First and foremost, I want to say that I'm big on "do what you want forever" when it comes to fandom, even if I hate a certain ship. Just because I post about hating something (because it's my opinion and I can also do what I want forever), doesn't mean I'm gonna police or attack people who love it. I have like 4 or 5 mutuals who like michie! I'm completely fine with others liking it, it's just not my thing and since you asked, I'm gonna tell you why.
Hello! If you're going through the npmd tag and reblogging this post, please reblog the version with the readmore. I meant to put one here the first time and apparently forgot! I'm sorry.
I've tagged this post with "anti michie" for tag blocking purposes.
I don't understand it at all. Max is a vicious, vicious bully, who terrorizes Richie and his friends for literally no fucking reason. He's constantly on a power trip and he enjoys it, and no matter what his home life is like, I don't think that justifies his actions. It doesn't justify his actions. The entire school lives in fear of him, the entire school has physically or emotionally felt his wrath, even his so called "friends", Kyle and Jason. Hell, Richie says he used to not be able to even open his locker out of fear. If Max hadn't died, and if he had genuinely worked on himself, the absolute MOST I could see between him and Richie is a shaky acquaintanceship. I don't think anyone would want ANYTHING to do with him for a very long time, once they knew it was safe to not suck up to him.
I don't understand how people can watch the Nerdy Prudes Must Die song and scene and think it's mutual-love relationship material. Richie's death is genuinely haunting, even only the parts we see of it. Richie is sobbing, begging for his life, and Max taunts him, and you think that's fluffy? And reminder - we don't actually see Richie's real death. We see Max about to strike and laugh maniacally before the lights go black, but at the beginning Bailey says Richie was purple-nurpled and swirlied to death. At the beginning and in Richie's death scene, we hear Max calling out for him, toying with him like predator and prey.
A lot of people make ghost Max out to be nothing that he is in canon, a lot of people make him a goofy guy who is just mildly annoyed by Richie's and Ruth's ghosts. And while canon Max has his funny and silly moments, it's important to remember his actual character and what he represents - a figurative and literal monster. In fanon, people erase all of Max's bad traits, which is what his entire character is meant to be. He's not some dumb himbo, he's a bully. He's meant to represent a real thing that hurts and even kills real people. It's a disservice to take that from him.
I've seen certain Michie works put emphasis on Richie being the one to forgive Max, and not Max taking the long road to work on himself, when in reality it is NEVER on the victim to forgive their abuser. Even if Max works on himself and redeems himself to the best of his ability, even if he gives Richie the most sincere apology in the multiverse, Richie does not have to forgive him. He does not owe him that. And I don't think Richie would forgive him, at least not for a long, long time.
And also, if you want to ship Richie with someone who needs a little redemption, Jason Jepson is right there, and it's a way more probable ship than Michie ever has the capacity of being.

Hiii Miru!!! ♥︎
How is your day going?
Sorry if I’m bothering you, but I just wanted to ask you something that was in my mind for a while, what’s your opinion about the today’s Once-ler Fandom?
I mean, the new oncelings (like me) and all the new stuff that is here, you probably think that all of this is so different in comparison with how the fandom was back in 2012!
And also… do you miss something from the fandom? :p
Something that you don’t see here anymore or not as much as it used to be?
Hiii suemooon! Today was yet another tiring work day =w= but my coworker gave me hot chocolate mix and marshmallows today as a christmas present so that was nice! I hope you're doing well too.
To compare today's onceler fandom vs 2012's onceler fandom...man I could talk forever about this haha! This is all just from my own point of view of course but I would say, yes a lot of things are different, but a lot of things are the same, too.
UHHMMM extremely long post so it's under a readmore LOL
For the differences, a lot of them are simply due to the way the internet has changed in 12 years. In 2012, most oncelings were in their early 20s, and if you were younger than 16 you were extremely rare and we would be like "WOAH?? THEY'RE 15?? I HAVE NEVER SEEN A 15 YEAR OLD ON SOCIAL MEDIA BEFORE". But today's oncelings are like, mostly teens now, I feel? I think it's because of tiktok, which didn't exist internationally until 2018, and also because of parents giving ipads to their kids at the age of 2. But yeah, to compare today to 2012 is like comparing gen z to millennials, the content and jokes were different and, due to 2012 being in the past, what was socially acceptable was different, too.
Another thing that's different is the way young people act towards characters nowadays, but let me specify some more. I really dislike the term "content" when referring to someone's personal creations because it just sounds so corporate. And I don't know how to feel when I see some new oncelings treat an old popular askblog character as if they're public property produced by some big company, instead of as an OC that someone worked really hard on. For example, Truffula Flu Camp Entre and Thneedville High AU are like "established media" to a lot of people out there now, as if they're well-known series recognizable to the masses (no, they're not). And as a result, I've seen people headcanon whatever they want on other people's OCs and ship them however they want without even knowing if the mods are okay with those ships anymore (it's better to be real careful, if you want my advice..). I've also seen new oncelings give other people's OCs to public merch-selling sites without the mods' permission, and I've even seen new oncelings try to take inactive askblog OCs as their own. Why? :( Just make your own OCs. You can do it! Hold my hand.
New oncelings don't understand what they're stepping into when they look at our old content from over a decade ago. Our personal feelings and our private friendships from those times, whether good or bad, are precious to us and I guess it's just a new phenomenon that we have to deal with now, so I don't have the answers for this yet. But I would encourage everyone to also look at new and current OCs in the fandom - which many people do, and I love to see that!! I also love seeing people making friends with each other and having fun with each other, that's what reminds me of the better days of 2012.
Another difference is the...landscape? We have tumblr DMs now and we have discord communities so a lot of things are hidden now from public view. RPs used to be public on tumblr but now we rp on discord and only people in the server can read them, and there are pros and cons to that. Also the fandom isn't dominated by only a handful of askblogs anymore. Things are WAY more balanced and evenly distributed now compared to 2012, where Swag Once-ler was the king of the fandom with 200 asks sent to him every hour and 4000 followers accumulated in just 5 months. (And I'm not dissing on Swag, I loved Swag too. I'm just stating my observations. In fact I miss him a lot ;-;)
As for what's the same...xD The excitement and passion that a lot of new oncelings have! I find that so cute. People being creative is the same, people gushing over the onceler and fandom ocs is the same, even if internet slang has changed. People being ambitious with projects is the same, even if those projects are never finished (but this is just general human nature). And PEOPLE BEING SWEET TO EACH OTHER is the same! I was nervous during 2020 since a lot of "ironic" fans joined that year but I'm happy to have seen some genuinely sweet people around in more recent years, just like there were in 2012. 😊
I also see a lot of the same movie analysis discussions each year, which makes sense since new people keep entering the fandom, haha! "The lorax movie could've been better", "the 1972 film is better", "I wish they kept biggering", "they should've expanded the factory scenes and taken out the car chase scene", "i hate the onceler's mom", "the movie's point gets muddled because too many people think his mom's to blame", "i can't believe zac efron and taylor swift didn't sing in the movie", and on and on, those never change, and I've seen these same discussions so often that I support the antithesis of each topic now, just to be a rebel. 😇 But usually I don't engage in those anymore, I just think "haha aww! they're having fun :]" and leave them be! But like, it truly reminds me of the earlier days. It's me who has changed, in this case.
And finally, "do you miss something from the fandom? Something that you don’t see here anymore or not as much as it used to be?" I mentioned Swag already, I also miss a lot of other askblogs that belonged to my friends, and most of all I miss a lot of my friends who've drifted away, and I hope they're all doing well. I had a lot of good times with friends over the years. Some of them were rp partners and I miss our rps and I miss their characters dearly, I can't think about it too hard or else I might cry. What else...I want to say that I miss the crazy nightblogging events we used to have but I don't know if I could keep up with those anymore if they happened again haha. Same with askblogs answering asks live, almost no one does that now because people want so much to make every ask pretty with a new pretty artwork. But like, even if that comes back, again I don't know if I could keep up. So I suppose everything had its place!
Things will continue to shift and change, and you never know what the future holds so it's best to just keep going. I'm still making new friends and new good memories in the fandom each year, and I'm grateful for that.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this ask and thanks (and sorry) to anyone who read through all of this!!

It’s always sad when a fandom friend who shared your opinions for literal years turns out to be a zionist. Like why did this happen to me 3 times already?! I never seen a hint they could be like this when they’re primarily manga blogs. Unfollow ofc but I feel like I’ve wasted all this time and feeling of fellowship on them :/
Reminds me of Angela Davis calling Palestine the 'moral litmus test', because unless you yourself are putting in active effort to keep the conversation about Palestine going, it tends not to come up in everyday conversation (well, depends on where you are) whereas with some other issues it's easier to figure out organically where a person stands so you end up getting shocked by how people who previously seemed very progressive and humanitarian suddenly reveal themselves to be apathetic (or even gleeful) about the suffering of so many innocents.
I've avoided this because I've been posting about Palestine long before October 7th (I was about to type 'comes free with being Arab' but looking at fellow Arabs who are being silent made the words die on my lips) so I think such people already knew from the beginning that I'm not their friend, but I sympathize a lot with feeling isolated in a fan community because of your stance on something, and feeling like you constantly having to look over your shoulder instead of just letting loose and having fun.
I'm really sorry that you've been let down by someone you thought was a friend. If it's any consolation, I've learned that a wonderful thing about making friends *through* activism is that the friendship tends to prosper even outside the context of activism. Knowing that you share fundamental principles with someone makes for a very secure friendship! For example, recently a lot of us have rallied together to support each other's arguments and cultivate a strong front and exchange sources, but what's heartwarming about all of it is that many of these people have then reached out to ask about shared interests and hobbies and to talk about them together. Love and community is a big part of activism and there's always room in that for you.
Much love. ❤
