Ik it's been awhile since I have dropped a HC on you, but consider: Akira doing some unnecessarily dangerous stunt in the Metaverse and feeling so proud of himself... and then he's shocked when the team gets angry/worried that he risked his own safety like that.
"Guys, it's fine, only I would have gotten hurt!"
And then they just get even angrier and he's confused and startled they're so worked up about it. He's not used to people worrying about him.
omg june, hi!!! aaa i yelled when i saw your user pop up, hope you're doing well!!
your brainworms are angsty as ever and oh how i love it
i'm such a believer in the akira-is-passively-reckless-about-his-own-life concept, you'll have to rip it from my cold, dead hands
considering the in-game clues we get about how he's not great about keeping himself well-fed and has an automatic tendency to throw himself aside for the sake of other people's safety, akira's probably got a huge lack of self preservation to add to that (maybe even, a complete lack of care for his own wellbeing) (i'm absolutely blaming his home life for this)
which works well enough for someone in a leadership position, he'd make sacrifices for others very easily and yeah!! he's just so used to not putting himself into consideration- he doesn't even think about his own safety. nobody else ever has, so why should he?
it trickles into everything he does. the last healing item goes to a teammate, whatever funds he makes from part-time jobs goes into the phantom thieves (nevermind that he's living on sojiro's patronage curry and instant noodles, that's unimportant, he's unimportant), he offers unconditional support and a listening ear to every confidant he meets, and helps them with all their problems- even if it is to his own detriment. on the battlefield against a new enemy, joker will do his best to find the weakness- because if they repel anything, at least then he carries the brunt of the backlash. it's natural, instinctive, and therefore he sees no wrong in it.
and for a long time, he gets away with this reckless abandon for his own safety.
except he goes a step too far, maybe he decides to distract another hoard of shadows on his own? or makes what should be an impossible zipline move to cross to the other side of a chasm. against a rampaging enemy, he throws himself in the firing line. after months of excusing the passing recklessness, this is a step too far for the phantom thieves.
when they're reunited with joker, he's not greeted by praise for his dramatic flourish, or impressed and spirited cheers for carving a path deeper into the palace, but instead worried frowns and scolding reprimands. flurries of hands which search for his injuries and want to heal, and he doesn't need it he's fine-
and oh you're so right it would hurt so much because akira would be so confused by their concern!! at first, he probably assumes they're talking about anything but him. did he accidentally break a treasure on his landing? for some reason, had the thieves not wanted that shadow hurt? what was it this time, what had he done wrong- because he had to have done something wrong he always does something wrong, eventually
when it gets through to akira that no, they're worried about his safety the boy blue-screens there and then.
it's not something he's ever been used to- care, affection....attention. nobody's cared enough to look close enough before, and suddenly akira doesn't know what to do with this worry, with this obvious sign that people care about him, that someone values akira kurusu....he's in a bit of a fugue as the diarahan washes over him, so much do he can't even scold what he'd deem an unnecessary use of energy
they call it a day in the palace not long after.
learning to value your own life isn't something that's easy, but akira's surrounded by people who care about him now- they can be patient. this time, they're taking the lead to help akira, not the other way around.
maybe makoto challenges him to find a more safe plan, that doesn't involve reckless action. ryuji helps him be more open about his feelings. ann teaches akira how to appreciate himself. futaba shows him how to trust in what people promise. yusuke guides him through self-appreciation in his own, artistic style. haru helps akira define himself, outside of the parameters his parents set for him. morgana stays at his side through it all.
in their own way, they'll help akira find some self-worth, and hope to see the fruits of their labour in akira guarding a bit more often in battle, turning to his teammates instead of charging in headfirst and bearing the weight of shadows' attentions himself. they'll wait patiently for the day he asks for help, and be proud when he does.
for now, they'll accept the occasional willingness to head back to a saferoom, or retreat from battle. they'll mentally cheer when he uses one of their few healing items to patch a gash in his side. it's all about the small steps.

When it comes to Hunter's side of huntlow, one of the most compelling aspects to me is him getting comfortable with wanting, even when he doesn't feel entitled to it.
Hunter's experience with love is very depressingly one sided, with him putting everything into his devotion to his Uncle, and receiving the bare minimum (at best) in return. He's never dared to ask Belos "Can you sit and talk with me for a while? Can you please think fondly of me? Can you be kind to me?" because he's been programmed to believe that this is far more emotional labour from Belos than he deserves to ask for and he should be grateful with what he is given.
Hunter has resigned himself to not expecting much from relationships. Any trace of kindness will have Hunter pledging undying loyalty to whoever offered it to him, because he believes that person is going above and beyond what Hunter deserves.
He's not going to stop them from being kind to him. He will do anything for it. But I wonder if he sometimes feels guilty for accepting it so wholeheartedly. For being too weak to resist the warmth because he's been starved for so long.
Anyway. This friendship with Willow, the budding romantic feelings and the (eventual) relationship.
The popular consensus around the time that Labyrinth Runners aired, was that Hunter wouldn't even be sad if Willow rejected his feelings because her friendship is enough for him. And while I agree that remaining friends with her is first and foremost Hunter's priority, I don't know if he wouldn't be sad. At least a little. Because in this hypothetical scenario, if Willow rejected Hunter, that means that he must have taken a huge leap and done something that he never thought he had any right to do. He asked for more. He revealed to her that he wanted more.
This is a tricky concept to articulate without giving some people the impression that I'm saying Hunter would believe he's entitled to Willow's romantic attention and if she rejects him, he would get all mopey about it. I'm stating quite the opposite.
Would he gracefully accept being rejected? Yes.
Would he make her feel bad about it? No.
Would he continue to treasure his platonic relationship with her because he still adores having her in his life? Of course.
But would he be sad? Even a little? Well....what I'm saying is that I think it would say a lot about his growth and his feelings of self worth if he was a little sad.
He deserves to feel sad.
I think very early on, when Hunter first cut off Belos, he thought he had everything. He had food and shelter and clean clothes and books and a sewing machine and safety and warmth and fun and love. Everyone was so nice to him. This was practically a utopia.
But as time goes on, he should eventually come to terms with the fact that he's not the luckiest boy in the world, but he simply has what everyone is entitled to. These aren't luxuries. They're rights.
And I think an interesting mental journey for him is realizing that it is not disgustingly ungrateful for him to continue wanting, even when life feels idyllic.
It's not selfish to want to kiss Willow, even when being her friend is already so wonderful.
It's normal to want. It's human nature. And he is somewhat human, isn't he?
I like the idea of Hunter taking initiative in steering his relationship with Willow in a more romantic direction (with her consent, obviously). I like what it says about him and how secure he's become in himself.
It demonstrates that even if his insecurities still linger, he is willing to seek out things that he would have once believed himself unworthy of.
Maybe this thing with Willow won't work out. And that's okay. It's just life. But he at least wants to try. He wants to pursue a relationship. He wants more.
I think it puts him in a humiliating position. But also a brave one. Empowering too.
I would like Hunter to stand in front of Willow and unapologetically ask "Will you love me please?"

A minor rant: the way a lot of people talk about feminism these days really makes me feel like feminism is going backwards and recircling into misogyny. Allow me to explain.
I remember when people used to protest the use of "like a girl" and "for girls" as an insult, by rebranding it into a compliment and showing that just because something is seen as for girls doesn't mean it's stupid because girl isn't inherently an insult. And now we're seeing women on TikTok and Instagram use "girl math" "girl dinner" "don't ask me, I'm just a girl" "explaining math and cars and movies and politics and ethnic cleansing for the girlypops" "girl money" and overall using girl as a shorthand for being stupid, insipid, frivolous, ditzy, and lacking substance. The very idea that girl means inferior that we used to fight against is now something that is being parroted unironically by internet misogynists who unironically think that "girl=stupid" is the pinnacle of feminism.
I remember when feminists were calling out the idea that femininity is a bad thing and means weakness, and showing that being feminine doesn't mean that you can't also be strong, badass, or capable, when Legally Blonde and Sailor Moon and Friendship is Magic were praised for showing unapologetic girly girls whose love for pink and fashion didn't at all stop them from being ambitious, or kicking butt, or being a good fighter, or showing the world who's boss. And now whenever a female character who is feminine also shows traits of strength or intelligence or doesn't adhere to misogynistic stereotypes that women should be passive or demure, people are complaining that she acts "like a man" or is "masculine"(as if being masculine is a bad thing) or "why can't she be feminine and strong?"(when she is, but what they really want is for her to be meek, submissive, and docile because they see those as feminine traits while being outspoken, assertive, and bold are somehow masculine traits, and then praise that somehow) People complained that Princess Peach was being made masculine in the Super Mario Bros. movie and in Princess Peach Showtime!, just because in the former she was a badass fighter and in the latter they changed her face on the box art to be more realistic...but I thought we wanted female characters to be both feminine and strong, and now that we get them people are claiming that they act like men...
I also remember when people used "not like other girls" to refer to women with internalized misogyny who thought that liking girly things made you inferior, who tried to be "one of the guys" because "girls are too much drama", or who went through a phase of being ashamed of their girly interests because society taught them to hate them. But eventually that just morphed into people(even self-proclaimed feminists!) unironically declaring that any woman who wasn't feminine had internalized misogyny and was a "pick-me"(when that is aave) who thought that they were better than other girls and wanted to be a guy and that if they didn't eventually become pink and girly then clearly they were still stuck in that phase. And now if women so much as critique legitimately harmful gender roles like the makeup industry or shaving, other women will tell them that they are pick-mes or not like other girls who hate the women who partake in those things.
And don't even get me started on the bimbo crap. That was funny at first when people were just using it to project hyperfemininity without downplaying their intelligence(and I saw some guys partaking in the bimbocore trend, too!), but eventually it did just devolve into women pretending to be dumb idiots who cater to male egos by acting superficial and clueless and like they can't do a damn thing by themselves...even though a large part of feminism is not dumbing yourself down to make a boy feel smart, I remember learning at the age of like 11 that if you have to do that because a boy is intimidated by your intelligence then that boy is not worth it(no boy is worth it now but anywayz), but apparently according to modern-day faux-feminists it is cute to pretend that you need a man's help for everything because you're "just a girl".
I also remember when we used to fight back against the idea that teenage girls are dumb, naive, and insipid, and that they are shallow and not worth being taken seriously, only for grown adult women to call themselves "20-year-old teenage girls" as a way of saying that they're immature, silly, and incompetent, and it drives me up the wall. Not only are you infantilizing yourself, you are throwing teenage girls(many of whom do not act like this) under the bus to do so!
And it just makes me so drained and exhausted to see how normalized this is and that this is what passes for feminism these days. And before people say it, yes, I know the sexist attitudes I complained are so widespread nowadays were always around. I'm not saying that they're new or only became prevalent through the rise of TikTok. I know that's not the case. However, it definitely feels like these ideas are becoming more normalized than ever before, and hardly anyone is speaking out against them, because if you do, people will come at you with "so you hate women having fun? just let women enjoy things! what's wrong with femininity?" and everybody will ratio you, which is incredibly frustrating and invalidating.
And ykw I noticed is that most if not all of these people I see doing these things are white women. I haven't seen many if any Black or brown women engaging in the self-infantilization and bimbofication of their entire gender. I know I shouldn't have to explain why that is. But this just proves for me that white women can really pick and choose whether they are allies to the feminist cause or not. They can choose whether they want to be oppressed for their gender or privileged for their race, while women of color don't have that "luxury". They can appease the male status quo because it was made for them in the first place, while also seeking the oppressive power that white men have. It's really sad. It's like we're doing male misogynists' work for them by playing into the "women are bimbos and shallow and can't do math, being a girl sucks, teenage girls are stupid, femininity is shallow but also if you're a tomboy or butch then you obviously must hate your sisters" ideas that have been forced on us for literal fucking centuries and it is just so depressing to see. I hope people come to their senses soon because this is legit getting concerning.
But hey, what would I know? I'm just a teenage girl.
THIS WHOLE RANT.BEAUTIFUL,THE TRUEST TRUTH EVER!!!!!!

Okay, this one might be controversial, because 90% of the fandom thinks that he's a bland and cartoonishly evil villain with no depth, but they are Wrong, and this evil bitch is one of the most interesting characters in the story, so. All For One (AFO) from MHA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tbh, there's so much to tell about him, I'm kinda at a loss where to start and what to tell here. This is gonna be very rambly, so, sorry lol.
So. All For One. He's the Evil Bitch Supreme. He does awful, evil, terrible things for his own profit (and also for fun), he's completely unapologetic, he's fully self-aware, he knows that the things he's doing are evil. In fact, he's doing all that heinous shit on purpose. He's being evil quite literally on purpose. Because he's playing a character. His favourite comic book villain, to be exact, and essentially is trying to write a 'fix-it' fanfic where his blorbo wins into reality. I'm not gonna go into how exactly he operates, his parasitic nature, his extremely weird and complicated relationship and obsession with his younger brother (that's a whole other can of worms), just gonna talk a little bit about his overall personality.
Unlike other villains in the story, he avoids being humanised. He doesn't want to be humanised. His face is hidden from the readers for 3/4 of the story. His real name is unknown. He glorifies and takes power in the idea of being dehumanised, being just a villain, just a monster. But knowing MHA's themes - no one is inherently a villain. There is no 'inhuman' monsters. They are all very much human. His villain persona isn't just him playing a character, it's more than just him playing a character - it's a form of escapism. So what is he escaping away from? What would force someone to go that far into their own escapism? What would make someone feel that being seen as a monster is better than being seen as a human?
He believes that a person's destiny is defined by their quirk, and that everyone are characters with roles and paths they cannot stray away from. And in his mind, he's also the one who defines those roles and writes the narrative for them. Shigaraki Tomura (Real name: Shimura Tenko), his pupil and 'successor' (whom he kidnapped at the age of 5 and groomed into this 'Shigaraki Tomura' persona for 15 years, btw), is essentially his OC that he based on an evil and obedient version of his late younger brother and that he later tries to quite literally self-insert himself into. And he applies that to himself, too. His villain name is the name of his quirk. He even implies a few times that he is a bit of a kleptomaniac when it comes to quirks, and that he cannot help it because it's HIS (quirk's) nature. In fact, any time someone does not follow his narrative, and acts outside of the little box AFO put them into in his own mind, he goes absolutely livid, shaking, crying, shitting himself, because they're breaking his Immersion the story that he's writing. By trying to be not just the writer, but also the main character and the main villain, he inserted himself into the story, and became bound to it's rules. And if there's a rule in this story, it's that all villains are just people. The further we go, more and more glimpses of his humanity are being shown, despite him desperately trying to hide away that he's just a weak, pitiful person who chose to perpetuate the cycle of abuse done to him and other meta-humans during the Emergence of Quirks era.
In!

Pinnie, we know that Vorticia cannot be trusted with small animals, but what about the other Icons? Would the ones our pets not be safe with let us find someone to take care of our pets?
I'm guessing Kalymir is probably in the "not safe for pets" category while Zizz and Rinx are "safe." Vesper could be safe too. Idk if my cats would be up to Cero's standards, and Livius might get upset if they don't like him as much as they like me...
TW: Passing mentions of animal cruelty.
Generally speaking, surface animals do not like demons. It's a lot more likely that your animals will simply not want contact with the demonlords, or become scared shitless of them, as any living creature with two brain cells ought to be. Warming up to them will likely take a lot of time and patience, which most of them aren't willing to put in.
Kalymir isn't safe. Not because he desires to hurt animals- He doesn't really. He's got pets of his own back in the fortress. But purely because animals in the surface are so weak. A playful tussle like he has with his fire lizards back home would kill whatever pooch you have. He can't even pat the thing without it whimpering at him. It's frustrating.
Livius isn't safe only because of his crushing jealousy. He's not above killing your pets because you give them more time and affection than you do him. And he's entirely sociopathic about it too. Unapologetic. Sure, he can feign regret, but he certainly doesn't feel it.
Vorticia is definitely not safe, as you know.
Zizz is a little safer, in the sense that he does like animals well enough, but he's not good at taking care of their needs. He will also just possibly fall asleep and potentially crush them accidentally. The pet is not allowed in the bedroom, where all his plushies and pillows are. If one of them got ruined, he would want the animal out immediately.
Rinx is another one that's not good at taking care of animals in general, not just on the basic needs part, he's also always bumbling around too much to actually bond with them. It would end up being the imps' pet. He does like small rare breeds however.
Vesper isn't too keen on the idea of having animals around his dwellings, where people are constantly having sex. Lust is the ring where you will see the least amount of animals in the entirety of Hell. He has no pets and honestly doesn't feel a desire to bond with yours. He's "safe" in the sense that he ignores it mostly.
Cero is also one of the safer ones. He'll quickly tell you he thinks you have bland tastes in domesticated companions, but he can eventually warm up to them, after they're well-groomed and treated to real food. He'd do well with a lap cat.

five hargreeves x reader. “ and how do you plan to do that? “ [ gender neutral reader. ]
─ ✧ you wake up sick and stubborn, but five has been the only person to get through your stubborn self.
─ ✧ starting to notice who are peoples favorites when it comes to fanfics ,, also requests are open because i do not. have many ideas.
Tumblr media
you groggily open your eyes, letting out a big yawn before noticing the feeling of your nose being clogged. your body was weak and everything hurt all over.
your door opening made you try to sit up, but the sound of five blinking and hands on your stomach and back, gently guiding you to lie back down.
“good morning, idiot.“ five says unapologetically with a shit eating grin, you glare at him with the best of your abilities but turned into a fit of coughs and five hid his worry.
“come on, drink up.“ he sighs, pulling out a medicine as you groan and roll over while five simultaneously tries to reason with you and roll you back.
“i know you hate it, but we really have no other choice! its either you take the medicine, or suffer the consequences.“ he hissed, but you only pulled the blanket over your head and a muffled “no.“ under it. five had a little laugh at your childish antics before lifting up the blanket, “so you're telling me, spending about 30 years of our lives killing together as partners.. and medicine is where you draw the line?“ and you lazily nod your head.
“doesn't matter.“ he casually opens up your mouth and has you consuming the pill in seconds, handing you a glass of water as you coughed a few times while finishing it in an insant.
“i could've choked!“ you whine, “you've worked for the commission, a simple pill to make you feel better won't kill you.“ five calmly replies, taking his eyes off you for a second before realizing you were already standing up.
“hey!─“ he tries to blink and tackle you, but you easily dodge after the several years hes been doing that to you, ending up with him on the floor. “i'm fine!-“ you coughed, “i'll walk it off.“ you reassure five, but he isn't buying it. he gets up and before you could even walk through your doorframe, he picks you up into his arms as you yelp.
“five─“ trying to wriggle through his grasp though he held tightly onto you, shaking his head as he found amusement in your suffering. admittedly, you liked being held by him but the moment ended when he dropped you back on your bed.
“ooww..“ you frowned, furrowing your brows as fives expression shifted to worry in fear he might've hurt you.
“that hurt you little dipshit.“ you scoff and five looks away. “sorry.“ he says, his voice oddly gentle as you stare at him confused. “if you are.. then let me work.“ you deadpanned and five looked at you with a baffled expression.
five puts a hand on his face, pulling it down and letting out a silent groan.
“i'm going to keep you here till you sleep.“
“and how exactly do you plan to do that?“
lifting up the blanket, five lied down with you in bed and turned to face you, grabbing your wrists and holding them together between his two hands.
“like this.“ he stared unamused into your surprised eyes, blinking a few times before laughing weakly.
“you really are weird, you know you'll get sick too?“ you easily broke free, and instead of getting up, you intertwined your hand with his and five lets out a chuckle. “yeah.. but its fine.“ he says with a yawn, pulling you close as you felt your eyes go heavy.
“as long as i'm with you, none of it matters..“ he murmurs sleepily, both of you drifting to sleep in each others arms.

“Louis said: “A lot of people recommended it but I’m a little bit old fashioned when it comes to therapy. I’m sure it’s incredible but I thought I’d be alright, and I have been until now.”
https://www.entertainmentdaily.co.uk/news/louis-tomlinson-opens-up-about-providing-for-younger-sisters-following-tragic-loss-of-mum-and-sibling/
That was 2020 though so it’s possible his perspective has changed.
Thank youuu! And that's exactly my point, all he's saying are good things about therapy and he said he didn't want to do it to deal with grief. Which is very different from the idea some people have of him, hating therapy and thinking it's showing weakness and whatever. He's always been quite supportive of the idea and he talked about mental health several times. And yes, that could have changed after this interview. If I'm not mistaken, Harry talked about going to therapy for the first time in late 2019, so it's something new for him as well. And it's a process, as someone who's been in therapy for over 15 years, it's not pleasant, it's hard, and it takes a lot for you to truly compromise to it. Maybe Louis is on his own process as well.
Plus, maybe it's because the artists are very americanalized these days - young Louis while in 1D included - but I feel like Louis being very unapologetically british and proud of that scares the shit out of some people and causes a lot of misinterpretations. I hope his documentary can help people understand that about him...

No but deadass the protagonist is trying to escape by literally jumping out a window, she doesn't want to do this that badly, and her wolf is STILL whimpering inside of her, "no, I don't want to 🥺"
maybe I'm just built different but like, the werewolves don't always have their wolves from birth, so maybe it's just me that finds it kind of fucked up that they live a decent number of years and forming their own identity and then the wolves come along and, suddenly the human is supposed to just COMPROMISE autonomy with something else? "Oh yeah depending on the story I'm either 12 or 13 or 16 or 18 but yeah let me SUDDENLY GIVE UP CONTROL OF MY BODY AND MY LIFE"
And I understand it's presented as, "the wolf is like you, it's a part of you, what it wants is usually what you want" but like, no, that's what they want to ACT like it means, but, these wolves just straight up do shit their humans beg them not to do. And depending on the story, the wolves are, just, STUPID? Like sometimes the wolves are like "oh my gosh our mate is a hottie, we are SO lucky queen" and other times they're like "we need mate, mate protect pups, it is fate, moon goddess has decided" so like, imagine having a perfectly fucking valid reason to hate someone and you get bodyjacked by essentially something that is too primal and lower intelligence to even GRASP OR CARE about the nuances of why you're upset and how you have been wronged and even occasionally telling you "humans are stupid and complicated" or shit like that
(I made the mistake of still listening and yeah, he literally caught her as she was running away and marked her by force and she's just expected to be chill with this 😔 he barely even feels bad and he mostly just rushed all this because. He was jealous of another dude being friendly to her and wanted to claim her before anyone else did first. What a scumbag.)
Absolutely dying to write a story with a Reader who is a werewolf but absolutely hates their entire society and culture or just, these little traditions they wind up witnessing. They're forced to attend a customary ceremony where a pair are claiming each other and you're rolling your eyes because you know the girl absolutely hated the guy before the mate bond kicked in. The pack Alpha is hosting a speech and you aren't absolutely on your knees worshipping the ground like some of your fellow pack mates, not feeling this primal loyalty and connection the rest of them do. Just you being brought into the pack and within the same week asking "so I can still go back home though right?" And just being so unapologetically vocal about how much you hate all of this
I also just. Have been addicted to stories where it's like "you rejected and abused me when I was weak so now that I'm gifted and strong you'll either feel my apathy or my wrath" so, the specific idea I keep having is, Reader is a werewolf with an absolutely massive fear of dogs/wolves (your parents were attacked and killed by rogue wolves when you were small and you've been raised human) so when you finally get tracked down and brought back to your family's original pack from before they had been living in the human world, you don't want anything to do with anyone, any pack events, any ceremonies, anything, but you're still a kid and get dragged around anyways, and I can imagine Reader just, never shifting when the coming of age hits, maybe even outright begging the moon goddess not to be given a wolf. And then the next year. And then the next. And you start becoming an even bigger outcast than you already were because now you're the werewolf without a wolf, missing all the little celebrations all the other kids your age get, not getting to form a pack link, or not taking the official ceremony to become an actual member in rank and name. You're beginning to hit young adulthood as all the elders treat you with disdain or indifference since you're weaker and can't contribute, if they don't outright think you're cursed. You get bullied, and people either join in or do nothing to stop or admonish it. Anyone who's nice to you doesn't when matter because they're drowned out by all the rest.
One day Reader's basically officially declared the intent to leave the pack and go back to living in the human world, and maybe it's a mixed bag of "good riddance" and "wait what? 🥺 but werewolves are super social and emotional, you can't leave, you belong in a pack, also its safer for you" (maybe even a bully or two of yours actually doesnt want you to leave after all) and you just unapologetically have no interest in staying. And years later it turns out, you had either had your first shift in secret all along, or you shifted after leaving the pack but essentially decided, you never wanted to be there anyways, and it turns out the "weak little wolfless loser" they all mistreated turns out to be, something cliche like a white wolf or a healer or something, and you've got wolves tracking you down like "wow this is so exciting to have a white wolf in our pack :) we'll be so much stronger and have so much more respect now" and you just laugh like "you think I'm coming back just because i have a wolf now?" *proceeds to slam the door in their faces while laughing*

10 Characters I Fell In Love With in 2023
I liked doing this retrospective so I'm bringing it back. I feel like I didn't watch many shows in 2023 but of the shows I did watch there were SO MANY good characters that making this list proved to be difficult to narrow down.
Tumblr media
1. Tang Lian, The Blood of Youth.
The Blood of Youth gave us a main trio of an exiled prince, a chaotic monk and a himbo firestarter, but it was Tang Lian the ace shixiong who was the first in the series to make me go oooh he's mine. Was it the purple clothes? The grey streaks in his hair? The romantic awkwardness? The hyper competence with small deadly weaponry? The crisis over following orders vs following his heart? All of the above probably. And I'm very glad the creators of the bonus episode decided to agree with me that HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO DIE otherwise I would have been throwing hands.
Tumblr media
2. Sikong Changfeng, The Blood of Youth.
While the main trio are very fun to follow along with, they are also very young and at my age now I find myself gravitating towards appreciating some of the older generation just as much. Sikong Changfeng is one such character, and chosen because he's someone I think I'd like spending time with. He's a practical man among outlandish people, a doting father, and the fact that he'll throw a tantrum in public when one of his fellow city lord's decides to slice their training tower into pieces is a refreshing change from the great and aloof martial experts of his generation. And just look at that cloak!
Tumblr media
3. Di Feisheng, Mysterious Lotus Casebook.
I came to MLC for Cheng Yi, and watched with amusement as other tumblr users fell head over heels for the moody antagonist until I got halfway through the show and had to mentally apologise to everyone because y'all had the right idea, omg how do I explain how Di Feisheng endears himself right into your heart and stays there? He's very show-no-weakness especially for someone who gets constantly nerfed - and boy do I like watching a strong man being whumped - he has the aesthetic of a total Boss and a sword named Sword.
He's unapologetic about his ambitions to be The Best Ever, which comes across as a bit shallow until you learn that his entire goal to be strongest ever is to be able to overcome the mind control bug forced onto him by the slave driver who raised/trained/tortured him as a kid and kick the guys ass. Which is the best and most heart breaking reason for a character to do anything and if that doesnt make you love him then the cuteness of the A'Fei amnesia arc certainly will.
Tumblr media
4. He Xiaohui, Mysterious Lotus Casebook.
Again the older generation appealing to me, Fang Duobing's mother is absolutely a character you want on your side in a crazy place like this show. Taking in her sister's son as her own, she doesn't hide what she thinks of the jianghu when Fang Doubing runs away from court life, but also happily creates an accupressure torture machine when he needs a prisoner interrogatated. A little haunting can't scare her off from a bargain for her new dayspa empire, and she's barely rattled after being kidnapped. She's just so fun.
Tumblr media
5. Yang Wuxie, Heroes.
Clever, loyal and funny are 3 easy ways to win me over. But they also went ahead and wrote a man who said "you're my only friend" and proved it with his every action -
- The way he pauses at the door to plaster a smile on his face before entering the room when Su Mengzhen is sick,
-  "can you take the archers on that side?" "Yes, but I'll die."
- clinging to SMZ's robe and weeping that he can't find him
- being trusted with the final blow, and crying all the while....
I really don't have the words. End me now.😭😩
Tumblr media
6. Di Feijing, Heroes.
Again the loyalty of the subordinate is what moves me in this show and I chose Di Feijing for this list because I didn't expect to be moved by him. At first everyone in Six Half Hall seems to be there for their own greed, which is good for them but can be a very flat motivation to watch. It's after the death of Lei Sun that his story unveils itself and his protection of Lei Chun comes to the foreground and you learn that he's a moral person stuck in the middle of corruption and obligation.
I kinda feel like he got shafted by being ordered to stay out of things, because I reckon if given the chance he could have actually sorted a bunch of shit out?? I liked the handful of interactions between Di Feijing and Wang Xiaoshi and wish there could have been more.
Tumblr media
7. Lee Rang, Tale of the Nine Tailed & Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938.
Protagonist's little brother with severe abandonment issues and a grudge to match, deadly but secretly a softie? Sign me up. The spurned sibling is by far the most relatable and likeable of the antagonists in season 1, and you get the joy of seeing him turn from the dark side due to the Power of Family, but still cuss and sulk the whole time. They created such a fun sibling dynamic that they had to go back in time for season 2 so that we could have a whole nother season with the two of them bickering and fighting for each other. Also, the looks he had going in season 2 were stellar.
Tumblr media
8. Li Wu, Pledge of Allegiance.
I'm predisposed to liking Zhang Yunlong, and Li Wu was both very fun and very angsty to watch as he lied his way into and out of all sorts of trouble.
As Li Wu would tell you, he's just a theif! Selfish, no moral compass to see here..(Rescues kid from being arrested, finds kid a job)(shares his money with his friends in the alley)(helps them flee when he thinks they're in danger because of him)(keeps the knife as a reminder of the death he feels responsible for)(helps the son of the man he killed when he finds him again)(how many times does he save Lu Zheng from himself and all the people gunning for him??)(unravels political conspiracies)(and so much more). Just a theif! Sure thing Jan.
Tumblr media
9 & 10. Fox Mulder & Dana Scully, The X Files.
Having only started watching The X Files for the first time in 2023 (and only as a filler show when I was too tired for subtitles,) I now find myself in season 7 of the show, entirely because of these two leads. What can I say about Mulder's non-threatening, hyperfixating, dorky ass and Scully's brainiac does-everything-he-does-only-backwards-and-in-high-heels competency that hasn't already been said? They're just *chefs kiss*
If anyone else wants to do a similar review I'd love to be tagged and see your 2023 blorbos!

About Sam🦇
Tumblr media
"Sam Manson, Aka Amity Park's "Ghost Girl" is well known for her love for the supernatural and paranormal, ESPECIALLY for Ghosts. She lives for all the crazy horror that happens around her town. Imagine how she feels that one of her BFF's a super cool ghost! She's always ready for an adventure with her friends, her motto, the crazier the better!"
Personality:
I know there's been ALOT of arguments about Sam's character, I figure we already know them. Point a lot of people see her to be very judgemental, selfish, hypocritical, causing trouble for her friends, especially Danny and have "I'm not like other girls" vibes. Tbh I think the main problem was that she just didn't have proper development. I think a lot of characters had that issue, not just her. Flaws and all she's a good character or atleast I think so. She cares a lot especially for her friends and what's right and I love that! With that said I am making some changes for my personal take.
A huge change is her idea on ghosts. While OG Sam said they're "too mainstream", my Sam LOVES GHOSTS!!!!
Another change is that she's on the more spontaneous, out there side, like(Mabel Pines, Marcy Wu, Louise Belcher, Anne Boonchuy, LMK Mei, Glitch Techs Miko, Luz Noceda, ROTTMNT April, Casey Jones/Foot recruit, Kid- Kid Cosmic, Molly McGee, NSR Mayday, Star Butterfly) vibes. She definentley vibes to Luz's "Us weirdos needs to stick together!" She is still unapologetically herself and wouldn't change herself for anyone. With that said is actually rather self concious of herself and secretly feels rather lonely, feeling distant from the people around her, being "too much or weird" for them, sometimes wishing she could fit in better with people. Atleast she has friends who like her the way she is.
For my version I also want her to be more focused on horror stuff, such as ghosts. I remember in ep 1 she thought they were "too mainstream". Scrapping that completely. I want this girl to be OBSESSED with ghosts. But at the same time her activism was a huge part of her character and I think that should stay. The main problem I think personally was her not properly learning better ways to get people to listen to her ideas.
My Sam-Klemper and Frostbite could remake all the polar ice caps, Lunch Lady could end world hunger and Sidney could straighten out the school system and how they tackle bullying!
My Sam's on the more immature, impulsive side and tends to dive head first into stuff. She doesn't take herself as seriously and like any kid doesn't always think things through. She'd be far more open to haunting pranks and goof around, doing crazy stuff.
I'm keeping her stubborn impulsive side. She's known for biting off more than she can chew and getting WAY ahead of herself in stuff, usually winding up into as well as cause some crazy trouble.
Overall she still has Sam's passion and care, I just also made her not as serious and more relaxed, open and unafraid to show how much she enjoys stuff, not caring if other people like it or not.
Facts:
Definetley keeping Grey DeLisle
Abilities-HUGE horror expert, huge occult expert, knowledge in nature stuff, chaotic smiling friends level energy, athleticism, agile, good fighter, knows self-defense, strong, creative, resourceful, confident, very motivated, comfortable with her own company, knows some natural medicines, good at sewing, cooking, can play the piano, ball dance, knows some ballet, multilingualism-knows Japanese(learned it so she can watch anime that don't have Eng Dub or Sub), likes to stay hopeful and never gives up for what's right!
Weaknesses- Reckless, stubborn, impulsive, tends to get WAY ahead of herself, has trouble talking about feelings, can be uintentionally insensitive, blunt, has trouble connecting with people, doesn't always think things through and tends to distract herself and get lost in her own world in order to avoid having to deal with her feelings and issues.
I see Sam make DIY horror themed art from recycled objects. Waste not want not.
Goes ALL out for Halloween🎃
Calls herself "gremlin" 😈 Has also been called "batgirl"🦇
Knows how to write in cursive.
Would LOVE stuff such as Ruby Gloom, TOH, Amphibia, Smiling Friends, Dead End:Paranormal Park, Final Space, TGAMG, Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss, etc.
Owns a sewing machine. Knows how to sew and knit. Perhaps learned from her grandma.
I can see half of her decor and stuff be made from recycled stuff she created herself.
Totally runs like Naruto.
Likes- A good chunk of what OG Sam liked, LOVES GHOSTS, hanging with Danny and Tucker, her grandma, when her parents aren't overbearing, Mother Nature, stormy weather, cult classics, night, stars, horror stuff, horror stories and media, animation, art, books, parkour, drawing, indie projects, webcomics, animals, conspiracy theories, testing out Tucker's inventions, stargazing with Danny, magic, bats, lizards, amphibians, insects and spiders, anything creepy, slime, classical literature, poems, the dark, thrift stores, explosions, antique and vintage stuff and people accepting her for who she is.
Fav animal-Bats🦇
Dislikes-Pink, bright colors, bright lights, brightness, Prep fashion, oversaturated colors, her parents, usually her mom trying to make her wear cheerier, gender rules, discrimination, injustice, ghost hate, bad reboots, when industries cancel good shows, toxic fake people, people trying to use her, especially for her money, Twilight(she HATES their portrayal of the supernatural, especially vampires and overall problematic messages. Sam- SOMEHOW THEY RUINED VAMPIRES MORE THAN VLAD DOES!, THE MAN!, pollution, NFTS, her parents trying to make her look "happier", ignorance, prejudice, being told how to be, being lied to and people trying to change her.
Writes fanfiction and does fanart✍️
Is VERY aware of Creepypasta.
Likes to do volunteer work.
I see her love vintage, antique stuff. For the aesthetic and cause its eco friendlier to use something that can still work than just buy something new. Wears alot of her grandma's old clothes👚👕
Sam has a YouTube channel. “Amity’s#1_Ghost_Girl💜👻💜”, and started a series, “The Ghosts of Amity Park👻” talking about all the ghosts that have been in Amity Park as well as their backstories. She also likes to talk about Cryptids and other horror stuff besides ghosts(urban legend, mythological creatures, you name it). It’s gotten a lot of subscribers lately because of all the latest ghost appearances. She even got Danny Phantom himself to do a Live Q&A chat. Paulina was SPEECHLESS! She also does some horror show/movie/book reviews, DIY art and decor vids, memes, Eco-friendly life hacks and tips as well as some yummy vegetarian and horror themed recipes. Also has a tumblr, insta, DA, Twitter and TikTok.
What do u think? How would u rewrite Sam? I'd love to know💖

Do you like to do character analysis? Are there any characters you'd like to ramble about?
THANKS FOR INDULGING MEEE
I have such an intense brainrot about Daisy from TMA rn!!!! I'll try to not go too deep into specifics to avoid spoilers but
I'm so so weak for feral characters wallowing in their animalistic rage!!
when a complicated character is reduced to nothing but unapologetic bloodlust, when all they know is the thrill of the hunt. tearing someone else's throat using your teeth, being forced to lose your humanity and succumbing to something so familiar, so prominent in your veins that it feels like the second nature to you. or rather the only nature you really have.
Daisy tics all of the boxes for me: her wrath is ferocious, unrestrained, she uses some fucked up moral code to justify her killings but it doesn't cover her actions up, not in the slightest. I love seeing her elbow deep in someone else's guts, I love how she's going for the most brutal kills just because there's nothing gracious in The Hunt, nothing intricate or sophisticated. she inflicts as much pain as she can in the most inhumane ways possible just for the sake of it. she doesn't know any better. all her life she barely knew anything else.
I love the idea of the humans, at the very core, being mere animals!! just predators and prey, no other categories
also there's something about a woman not confirming to the societal standards and going rampant instead, fully expressing her rage when there are literal centuries of teaching us the opposite.
I love feral women covered in blood!!!! I support women's wrongs!!!!

It's been over a week since I saw it and I still can't stop thinking about the Barbie movie. It's like I'm still in shock. No one cares but I will write out my full thoughts here under the cut.
PROS
Like everyone says, I 100% agree on the set design of Barbie Land and the costumes. They did a fantastic job! I expect they will win some awards for those categories.
I like most of the soundtrack although there's probably about three artists on it I actually know. (I feel old.)
Ryan Gosling. To me, he had the best performance out of the whole cast. Ironically, in a movie literally called "Barbie", I found myself caring for Ken more. I think that is a testament to just how good of an actor Gosling is. They butchered Ken's character (just like they did Barbie's) and wrote a really half-ass script but Gosling STILL delivered.
Weird Barbie. I'm not much of a Kate McKinnon fan but I think she did really well. I love this concept of a "weird Barbie" because it's so true to life. Of course there would be a Barbie some little girl messed up! 😂
Speaking of "old", my favorite scene was the one with Barbie on the bench next to the elderly woman. I think this movie's message could have easily been about ageism more than tHe pAtRiaRcHy...
CONS
The biggest issue for me is what they did to Barbie and Ken's relationship. They are one of the most famous couples of all time, albeit a fictional one, but I just wanted them to be in love and kiss. 😭 I'm a hopeless romantic. I am tired of the idea that a Strong Female Character™ can't have a romantic relationship with a man because it makes her "weak" or "not as cool". One thing they could have done is say of course Barbie doesn't need Ken. But she chooses Ken because she loves him. She DOES love him. (IDC what Gerwig or Robbie says. They got it wrong.)
The plot(s) are all over the place! I can't remember but I don't even think the mother-daughter part of the story even got resolved or if it did it was done in like two seconds?! I don't remember, by then, I was getting bored and restless.
There was no point to Will Ferrell and the Mattel CEOs. After the chase scene, I completely forgot about them until they randomly reappeared at the end. I'm inclined to think they were only included to be a red herring for when they cut the trailers for the movie.
I didn't like how they named everyone else "Barbie" and "Ken" in Barbie Land (Aside from Alan and Midge). I get they are saying everyone can be a Barbie or a Ken no matter what you look like. But did they not know about all the characters in Barbie's world? Skipper, Courtney, Kelly (a.k.a. Chelsea), Stacie, Christie, Francie, etc? Just seems lazy IMO.
"The Message". Don't tell me "yOu jUsT diDn't GEt iT!!!" 😑 Oh, I got "the message", all right. IDK how anyone can watch this movie and not "get it" when they might as well beat you over the head with a goddamn sledgehammer. When I was a kid, I had a Life Size Barbie. Why don't you get one of those and write "FeMiNISm!!!" all over her body, take her by the heels, wind her up like a baseball bat and beat me to death for two hours?! In hindsight, it would have saved me time and money for sure.
If you liked this aspect of the movie, all the power to ya. You are allowed to like whatever you want to like. But everyone acting like this shit was so deep and profound... ??? I'm sorry, are you kidding me?! It's about as deep as a kiddie pool. I think there are rain puddles out there deeper than this.
They could have gone about the women's empowerment message in a much better way and a lot more subtle and a lot less hateful.
Which brings me to my next point about what I didn't like.
IDK what this movie was trying to be? It had some funny moments but most of the humour was corny and flat. I've been craving an unapologetically girlie, "chick-flick" movie for a long, long time now. The kind they used to make 15-20 years ago or so. Think "Legally Blonde", "Clueless" or "13 Going on 30". Or think even further back to the 80's with "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" or "Teen Witch". What better movie to make a return to that kind of genre than with a live action ✨BARBIE✨ movie? She is the epitome of girlie-ness and femininity. But I guess that's too "problematic" now or something.
Why did only Ken sing? Don't get me wrong, he did great, but does it seem weird to anyone else why he was the only one? It seems kind of random IMO. Why didn't Barbie sing a solo? I have no idea if Robbie can sing or not but still. Again, what is this movie trying to be? It could have worked as a musical but it wasn't.... but they threw in a Ken song and dance number out of left field?
And lastly,
Margot Robbie. I HATE to say this, really I do. Because I really like her as an actress. I had so much faith and hope in her with this role. I thought she was a MUCH better choice for Barbie than Amy Schumer ever was!
Robbie looks the part of Barbie to a T. She's beautiful. But as the movie went on, I felt like she wasn't giving Barbie anymore. At least not Barbie in the way I imagine the character. It feels like she was playing a completely different character. Barbie in this movie never really helps anyone but herself. Barbie is not supposed to be an emotional manipulator but here, she is.
It's not Robbie's fault because Gerwig didn't write her character correctly. Same thing with Ken. He's a himbo, for sure, but he's not supposed to be some pathetic simp. I feel like both Robbie and Gosling were kind of wasted. They are both so talented but their characters were not written right.
So, all and all, if I had to rate the movie I'd give it a 5/10. I feel like they got some things right, some things they could have done much better, and some things they just shouldn't have done at all.
This is all just my honest thoughts and opinions. If you enjoyed the movie, I certainly don't want to take that away from you. I'm a huge fan of Barbie and I left the theater incredibly disappointed by the final product and I was SO excited for this.

hey <3 it's funny how different people tale things isn't it. i've been following the ~discourse~ and i find the pearl clutching over terry "cheating" rather bizarre. you've mentioned before it could very possible that super affectionate daniel would cheat(?), which is more unusual to me, as i interpret omega biology and nature to be very faithful for various reasons (most notably safety). terry processing his feelings (which is already a challenge because he's an Alpha) via sex makes a lot of sense to me as a seasoned a/b/o writer and reader.
fanfic is writing, writing is art, art is meant to challenge us. i think this sort of issue comes about in fandom/fanfic because a) the world is a garbage fire and people want to escape and soothe via stories - understandable - and b) there's a small but significant part of fandom communities that is very puritan and demands perfect morals/ethics in all fics at all times. i mean sure, write your extremely pure, ethical fics if you wish, but imposing that on everyone else...? no. absolutely not!
i'd rather read the messy, the complex, the nuanced stories - and yes, the dark stories - personally. i'm defo weak for softness and fluff too. but two things can be true, right? right. terry can deeply love daniel, he can also be selfish and cruel sometimes. that's reality, and that's what the best fanfic does - weaves the surreal (say, a/b/o) with the real (complex, difficult relationships).
Storm's over it seems, but I had no idea it was such a sensitive topic. I've always seen it as a sorry fact of life. Regrettable, but circumstance and intent matter. And omegaverse is a free for all. There are no rules because well, they don't exist. Shoking, I know!
And yes, for unrelated reasons I have seen so many mafia movies with the men being despicable, unapologetic, sexist brutes that I kind of assumed that a mob boss could at least be capable of it in my fic too? For a seasoned Don to think, this guy is bad news, uh... to only see him be sweet and loving could make you think "what was Don LaRusso afraid of?" Let there be consequences to selling your child to a dangerous criminal. Let's see what happens when you marry someone who has never had to take no for an answer! I actually find it interesting to see what it does to Terry, going through life with that Alpha and mob boss entitlement and finally understanding the cost of that to others and himself. For him to change, to need to change for love. That's the good stuff, baby. To see what entitlement can wreck. And maybe, unlike so many mobsters in films, to understand they have to change their ways before they're too old to throw a punch. And what heroism it takes for others to stay long enough for that to happen. What sacrifice. Knowing how much he owes his mate. That's my fantasy. To see that before they're 80 and on wife nr 3 because the first two couldn't take the abuse anymore.
Of course people also want escapism and no one should have to read what doesn't give them joy. I also understand the fun in essentially collaborating with a story in real time. But even though influence is welcome and valuable, I still think that an author should have the final say on their story. The idea that protagonists can never be unlikable, not even for a second, is strange to me. People fuck up, that's interesting! Martin Luther King jr. cheated on his wife, that does not negate the good he's done!
Of course I understand to want a fantasy world of fluff too... but then I'd recommend, and I mean this sincerely, The Babysitters Club. I read the hell out of that for precisely that reason. My protagonists mess up and deep love is both the force that keeps people alive but does not - and again this fascinates me - solve everything.

hi >:] for the fruit oc ask game! can i get keiji 🍒 🍌🥑 ??
also lady althea <3 🍒🥕🥝!!
you absolutely can~ also i'm interpreting cherry as a romantic companion because i can Keiji: 🍒 [CHERRY] Who is your OC's perfect companion?
Someone who's good at coaxing stray cats. Lure with food, let them come to you, don't move too fast or pay them too close attention. He hates hates hates people who are so nice it feels like they're pitying him or treating him like he's weak, you need to slowly coax him into accepting bits of care.
And then, well. a hot guy who is fun to banter with and can match with his kinks :3 but the care factor and how well they manage to straddle the line of coaxing him with affection without making him feel stifled or trapped is what draws keiji in and brings it from friends with benefits to lovers
🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?
ngl just seeing it was a banana i thought this was gonna be something dirtier. I don't think they have? He's changed, of course he has, but most of what he leaves behind is better left forgotten. Some of his prickliness, his defensiveness, some of the really sharp and bitey snark that's gone softer and more amicable. At the start of his story he is bitter and lost and fairly determined to die, and over time he actually finds some peace and, eventually, happiness. I don't know if this is what you took the question to mean but if you have more you want to know just @ me ;p
🥑 [AVOCADO] What will they never back down about, even if it makes them seem bad?
That... is actually a good question. Because Keiji's very morally grey, so he has a lot of opinions that would make him seem bad, but those he is both entirely unapologetic about and also.. not that determined. He's generally happy to go with the flow. The one actual moral line he has is around slavery, he hates slavers, but that is something that makes him look more moral than he is.
Althea: 🍒 [CHERRY] Who is your OC's perfect companion
Someone she can banter with, someone she can go to a rich party with and bitch about all the other guests, but also someone who challenges her. She has strongly internalised some patriarchal ideas about relationships and what her purpose/role is as a human noble, so much so that she's not really consciously unhappy about it all. She can really benefit from someone who'll question or challenge those ideas, and show/remind her that it doesn't actually have to be as others say it is.
🥕 [CARROT] How tough is your OC against certain situations? How weak are they against others?
She's good at being insulted, which sounds bad but hear me out. Her self-image is flawed but it's strong and unlikely to be shaken. She's not going to take someone's shit without being a catty bitch about it, and she's very good at backhanded compliments. She's bad with violence, she's a squeamish lil lady and not any kind of trained fighter. She can talk her way out of (and into) a lot of trouble, but any physical challenge and she's right out.
🥝 [KIWI FRUIT] How does their outside appearance differ from who they are?
She very much looks the part of the popular prep girl in a highschool movie, and she is that in a way. It is a true part of herself, she likes the femininity and the social games and paying attention to herself and her appearance (and she really likes being desired and given attention). She is, however, also a massive history buff who actually likes studying and science communication.
(and ofc don't judge on appearance and you can be pretty and femme and also a nerd but listen this question was about stereotypes)

regarding the barbie movie reblog.. I'm kind of confused
See, one of the reasons I like precure is that is tells you you can be strong while still feminine. All the "girl power" whatever movies from the past decade are good progress but a lot, a looot seem to give the idea that if you embrace stereotypical femininity (pink, bows, dresses, I just mean appearance type stuff) you are weak minded or only soing it because society has convinced you that's all you can be
I mean barbie does everything ever and still embraces femininity and while I do think the movie is just going to be fun string of events with no big deep pushed message, if this was a message shown, I don't see the problem
a lot of (fictional)women in leading roles seem to have to be tomboyish, disgusted by feminine things, and consider themselves better than girls like that (and, as the protagonist, it's pushed that they're right) so I thought it would be nicer for the world to see more things like that..? is it wrong for me thinking this
I don't mean to send a whole essay and I really worry how my opinions come off, I don't mean to sound judgemental.. I'm 18 and having to face a lot of identity confusion/confronting if my views even matter or make sense, and my family don't agree them either, I worry I've made a mistake
the part of that barbie post that stood out to me was the phrase "bimbo feminist." I think it's good for people to embrace girly and feminine things but I don't think it's good for people to embrace being a bimbo
precures and barbie are mostly super feminine girls but still competent and confident and I agree that's good to show! it can feel hard to be unapologetically girly and successful at the same time even in real life. but all those characters are good bc they work hard. well, I'm not sure about barbie. she has too many jobs to work hard at ALL of them. but it's the combination of girliness and confidence and inner strength. I think the person who made that post is worried people will think "oh so I can be pretty and girly and not think about anything seriously, just like barbie"
like the girl power movies you mention that give the idea that liking pink and girly stuff makes you weak. there are people who saw those movies and thought "we have to reclaim being girly and stupid as a positive thing." that's probably not a good idea and it's what that person is worried about. it would be better if people took the message precure has and said "we have to show people you can be girly without being stupid"
it's a complicated issue bc you have to untangle your own feelings from the things being pushed on you by society. I don't think you're wrong and I don't think the person who made the post is wrong. I do kind of think the people who say "it's good to be stupid" are wrong
