people have also been talking a lot about fanservice regarding this latest episode of dungeon meshi and it's making me want to organize my thoughts regarding what's too horny and what's acceptable but idk if I can. it's different for everyone in the first place. but I guess what I don't like is if sexiness overpowers the scene or if it doesn't seem to fit the character or setting

like I've said before I think one of dungeon meshi's biggest strengths is characters' traits are consistent but can be used for humor or drama. it's funny when laios is more interested in monsters than people but it causes problems in his interactions with others. and pretty much everyone is a well-rounded character with both positive and negative traits, or traits that some people see as positives and others see as negatives. so laios and shuro's argument isn't just "shuro is ableist for expecting an autistic man to pick up on subtle social cues" bc laios has also been insensitive

I'm seeing waves of discourse about who was in the wrong in this fight and you're free to like and identify with one guy more than the other but I think it's pretty clear that neither of them is really "wrong" but their styles of communication are incompatible

I like how kabru stripped off all his armor before mounting this sneak attack. I guess he had to do it so he wouldn't clank every time he moved and alert falin but it also serves as a visual metaphor for him intentionally setting aside his charming exterior

chimera falin is good bc she gets to be fucking furious for once in her life. you can say it's mostly thistle and the monsters' influence but what's important is that she truly goes beast mode and you love to see it

I think the sense of incongruous grace of falin's huge body and precise movements is done really well here
