Would the ORV characters go to watch the Barbie movie with you?

Yoo Joonghyuk
YES. He'll take along Yoo Mia and Lee Jihye too. The funniest part is he'll also wear a pale pink shirt due to his sister's and lee jihye's insistence. He'll draw gazes EVERYWHERE.
But overall he would like the movie and it's underlying themes. He would also be impressed by how much effort it went into props. Definitely the kind of dude who would listen to you ramble about the movie and would put his own thoughts into your analysis in between.
Would really like the "I'm just Ken" song but will soon grow tired of it because Han Sooyoung kept singing it at every minor problem.
"Why don't you like Ken, Joonghyuk? I thought he would be relatable to you. "

She would absolutely go with you. I just know she'll rock the barbie-coded outfit

She might also tear up at the Barbie scene at the end, where she sees all the human memories (girl same). Her favorite character would be Barbie. You two will then go to a food court after the movie where you'll spend an hour or so discussing the movie and the layers at which it mirrors the real world.

She'll say smth like, "Im an Oppenheimer person " to annoy you at first but would go along with you in the end
The type of person who ends up talking too loudly during a movie accidentally, so you'll recieve some disapproving glances.

She would be the one to ask you out to the movie. Her excitement would rub off on you and y'all will be positively vibrating with anticipation when the movie starts.
Would also get asked out for photos with some people because she looked absolutely "angelic" with her long golden hair and pink outfit.
You know how some people started to ship Allan with Ken after the movie? Uriel accidentally saw a fan art and immediately jumped on board with the ship.

He wouldn't at first get the hype. He'll just assume it's one of those pop movies that are being popular with their mass marketing and aesthetic.
He was pleasantly surprised.
Would LOVE the underlying satirical themes and the songs. He'll watch the end credits too with you.
Is the type to sometimes look at their partner during the movie and observe their reactions to a particular scene.
Would click instantly with Alan for some reason. (You're not even surprised)

The funniest thing about Robin's "It shocked me to my core, but I like you, I really like you" is that it probably was shocking, but it shouldn't have been particularly unexpected.
I think that a lot of people see King Steve and the thought stops at "douchebag jock." And there's accuracy in that! We see him being a dick to people we like. We hear Robin talk about how he came to class late and made a mess where he sat and ignored her even though she was right there.
But the other side of that coin is the reason why it's easy for people in-verse to be obsessed with him, the reason that he's King and not a douchebag loner. It's not the sports, although that may help. But lots of the kids play sports. It's a little bit the looks, but he's not the only pretty boy in school. It's not the money, although I'm sure that doesn't hurt either. And maybe the combination of things gives him a leg up, but at the end of the day, even when he falls from favor in season 2 he still plays sports, he still looks good, he still has money. But people aren't obsessed with him anymore because of one reason- he's no longer giving attention.
Because when Steve doesn't ignore someone, being the recipient of his attention is electric. And sometimes that electricity is deadly and you don't want it focused on you, like when he breaks Jonathan's camera, but sometimes it is bringing light to your whole world, like every time he pulls Nancy in for kisses or looks at her like she's the whole world.
Steve is the center of attention in almost any setting he's in, and being his center of attention has got to be An Experience. And I imagine that trying to get into that sweet spot and failing is where a lot of the general "douchebag jock" resentment comes from. People scraping for a reason to dislike him (when actually, god, when he's NICE to you it's fucking amazing, best feeling in the world even back then), blaming it on him being conceited about being good at sports or having good looks or being a rich kid etc (and again, it IS those things, too, but it's NOT those things). And Steve absolutely capitalizes on his attention being a commodity for personal gain (social status, sex, etc), and THAT is where the douchebag status actually stems from.
In Robin's case, she was mad about Tammy only wanting Steve's attention (as opposed to Robin's attention) but imagine what would have happened if Steve had paid attention to Robin? Like at all? Tammy would have noticed her, then. Everyone would have noticed her, back then. But he sat right there within arms reach and ignored her entirely, to the point where he didn't even know she existed, and so no one else did either, and that brewed some resentment.
It is also the reason that Nancy was so... novel, to Steve. She didn't want attention. She accepted his attention, sometimes, when it suited her, but she a) didn't want all the attention he could give her and b) didn't want what his attention in public would give her. And he recognized that even if he didn't understand it. She gets nervy about going to a party with him, and he assures her it's just the four of them- her and him, and the two people that know about them, and he's welcoming to her friend that knows. He comes over when she's studying and is baffled that she actually just wants to study (and that's an entirely separate meta). After they've had sex, she gets spooky about it and he assures her no, he didn't tell anyone, and also he shushes Tommy and Carol when they're getting loud about it in the cafeteria. Nancy's acting like she's honestly a little embarrassed to be seen in public with him and that's WEIRD. Like yeah ok, getting his ass handed to him by Jonathan is what caused the burning building of Steve's self-perception to finally collapse, but it was Nancy that set the fire.
Robin saw him before it was alight, and what she's finding, when she finally gets to know him, is that it's still true; having his attention is still electrifying. It still lights up the world. It's just that he isn't leveraging it for anything anymore. He's just Like That; he just puts all of himself into whatever he's doing, and it's actually really fun and great when what he's doing is genuinely being your friend.

The type of person to make stupid songs out of anything, and you eventually started to join in without hesitation
He loves watching movies, especially horror, and has a tradition of watching them on his birthday
Though he is a great brother, he was a certified menace when you were a little kid: convincing you that you're from the jungle, or that you're an alien
You've designated him as your personal chef; he could pursue culinary if he really wanted to

Super overprotective of you. She does not let anyone play with her little sibling, and she will go to hell and back to prove it

He's a younger sibling, for sure (yes ik he also canonically is, but it's also so obvious when he's with Yuuji & Nobara)
He'll sometimes randomly blurt something out just to see confusion wash over your face; thinks your expressions are the funniest thing in the world
Speaking of which, he also opens your door just to stare at you before closing it, stifling laughter as he walks away
He's secretly competitive. You always catch him huffing and giving you death stares after losing in a round of Uno
Gets second-hand embarrassment from anything you do in public. It would be over the most ordinary thing too, like accidentally dropping a fruit in the grocery store
His curt character paired with his insults can either have you wheezing until you physically can't, or it can be the biggest stab at your ego
Loves going on walks: he enjoys the scenery, and it helps to clear his mind of stress. He'll most likely be out for 30 minutes just aimlessly strolling through the neighborhood
Has a hobby of analyzing music & films and loves to explain it to you. He's very attentive when it comes to literature/symbolism
He's a typical younger sibling, but you wouldn't have it any other way

First impression: One of the things I anticipated the most before s5 dropped was the clones. So I was veeery excited to meet Wrong Hordak, I was literally obsessed with him. The funniest cutest fucked up little guy who, it seemed, was made just for me. (Partially because one of my early clone OCs was just like Wrongie personality-vise lol) I was still sad that the other clones didnt get much focus, but at least i had WH and Hordak
Impression now: Wrong Hordak is still my baby and I'll keep justifying his existence till my last breath, but now I see many problems with his arc and his place in the story. The way his trauma was treated is simply disgusting, and the fact that WH is never taken seriously by no one, even the writers, even when he's distressed and scared, even when he is forced to watch his entire world burn makes my blood boil. He didnt even get a proper name by the end...
Yes, it could've worked better if it was Hordak instead of WH, I too wanted brainwashed Hordak to join the rebellion. And yes, Wrongie wasnt even that useful, mainly being nothing but a joke character. He also failed as an attemt to help humanize the clones, so the rest of his brothers stayed mindless drones, not getting a hint of sympathy from the narrative nor most of the viewers
Anyway, I'm stealing Wrong Hordak from DreamWorks, my character now
Favorite moment: "Brothers! There's nothing to see heeere! :D" and "We put amniotic fluid in there :| No, that was a joke :>"
Also every scene where he copies someone's expressions and movements
Idea for a story: ooh I've been sitting on this one for so long. Call it an au or a rewrite, but the idea is:
Wrongie gets disconnected way, way earlier, after trying to stop Catra and Glimmer from escaping. The first to find him was Hordak, and after he notices something familiar about his brother's pain, he chooses to stay with him and even comfort him. While Prime and the clones are busy with other mess, he decides not to tell anyone about WH's problem. He can't explain why he wants to keep his brother out of the hivemind and possibly get himself into trouble, but he is quick to justify his decision (oh Prime is too busy right now, oh he just doesnt want to distract him, its not that important etc)
And thus begin the brothers' shenanigans, where Hordak tries to watch over confused Wrongie, while he's struggling to adapt and act normal. During the time they spent together Wrongie sees more of "the real Horde" and slowly starts to question Prime, and Hordak shows his protective side and remembers more and more of his old life and his old self
In this story it is Hordak who gets taken with the rebellion, but only after a moment of resistance, because 1) he didnt fully remember Entrapta yet and saw the others as the enemy 2) he was worried about Wrong Hordak and tried to take his brother with him.
Now WH is all by himself on the Velvet Glove and still has to keep a low profile. Eventually he gets closer with other clones and helps them see the truth as well, starting a small rebellion of his own. So during the final battle the etherian rebellion is going to have a trusted ally on "the other side", who can help with distractions and hacking Prime's systems. And ofc, seeing his brother safe and sound and freed will boost Hordak's morale even more before his inevitable last meetup with Horde Prime
Unpopular opinion: I think it won't be hard for WH and Hordak to become close friends. Hordak fell in love with this ball of energy called Entrapta and got attached to Imp who likes to mess with him, I'm sure he won't find Wrong Hordak too cheerful or too annoying (oh he will be annoyed, no doubt, but is he going to see his brother as a nuisance because of it? Nah-uh) Sure, WH might make Hordak feel insecure at first, cause Wrongie is more "likeable" and has no defects, but not to the point of barely tolerating or avoding him
And they have a lot in common? Same background, similar traumas, and they both still have a lot to learn about the real world, they can learn and grow together. Plus, I'm sure Wrongie is going to freaking adore Hordak and see him as his hero and role model, and there's no way Hordak is going to stay cold and distant for long after being showered with so much love
So yeah, they're besties your honor (even if only in my heart u-u)
Favorite relationship: friendship with Entrapta and also possible future friendship with Hordak and Imp. My guy was born to be the funny uncle
Favorite headcanon: I really enjoy the idea of him being rebellious even before the events of the show. The comment under that one storyboard says that Wrongie's pod was used for reconditioning, so something must have happened for him to get in there. He must have known too much, or was too vocal and disobedient, or just different and Prime didnt like that. Perhaps when WH was yelling "Brothers, HP lied to us, he's a false ruler!" it was him remembering all those things he was trying to say to his brothers before he got silenced by Prime. Also maybe he was the only clone who knew about Krytis, so when the rebellion took Wrongie it might have got Prime stressing a lil bit, because, sure, he did send him for reconditioning, but what if that clone still remembers something he shouldnt know?

Ppl don't realize the toll the roles they're assigned has on them.
And while we are on the subject, I want to say Fuck you to those who dragged me for saying JK learning English is his way of providing support for Namjoon to take some of the pressure off.
Even though he had explicitly said so himself, people like to dismiss everything as over analysis or obsessions or us thinking too much about things
But years later and here we are with Namjoon complaining about how tiring his role as leader was being the spokesman for his mates
Jimin sang sick and tired but I don't wanna mess up. Why is that?? He's always trying to be there for others, to give them strength and motivation and encouragement and ideas.
These people shoulder a lot of responsibilities in their bid to bring us quality content.
And while it's easy for some people to just carve a space on set for themselves like Suga jumping on his phone and unwinding, jikook can't get such privilege because the camera crew will legit find them. Doesn't matter if they are at the back of a track chilling in between takes and taking personal selfcas, or are on a couch smooching, or are just behind a monitor observing the commercial they just shot.
They never catch a break.
Even when they wanna hold hands they gotta make sure they aren't being filmed. They are forced into a constant alert mode lest the cameras pick on something they don't want to share with the world. It's exhausting.
So yea, I dare hybe to cut Jikook out of contents.

PURE / CITRA (status: kinda a crackship but they definitely become friends i just haven't decided if i want them to kiss yet or not)
pure is clear's younger brother and the youngest of the brightendale's and he has a super tumultuous relationship with both clear and vanity. pure really buys into the eros-superiority "we need to focus our efforts on argos" energy and is honestly like dion but brattier?? also has no sense of self preservation yet he's not half as talented a hunter as his sister vanity, let alone even a fraction powerful as clear. he has a huge inferiority complex and craves validation and acceptance. citra is on the opposite end of things. he's the cousin of moira and san and while he's not a bad hunter, he definitely isn't the strongest. however, he comes at life with a better attitude (nature/nurture is huge lmao) and seeks to learn and wants to become better and harbors no ill will towards people better than him. the two of them meet and initially clash because pure can be really condescending and brazen while citra is more mild-mannered like clear which immediately pisses pure off (he hates clear with a passion. cuz he's san but worse LMAO). however, citra never takes anything personally and is the first person who really sees that pure is lashing out because he's hurt. they have a very small angry x tall chill vibe about them. citra always makes pure apologize when he goes too far and citra's influence helps pure patch up some of his shittier relationships like with vanity and clear lol. so, i think they could work. PLUS i think it would be hilarious if san and clear ended up cousins via marriage PFF.
REED / TWILIGHTSORROW (status: doomed friendship)
these are some of my history of terrae ocs so spoilers aren't a thing since this happened long before canon. honestly, the best explanation would be if you read this long post about the progression from twilight -> twilightsorrow -> EFFE. if reed would've lived longer, he would've been able to really teach twilightsorrow humanity and tbh their relationship is kind of a very historical mirror of the bad end for evondra/arian (that kind of happens but doesn't happen to them, its complicated). reed is such a good, funloving soul and i think it would honestly be cute to have an au where they got to meet when TS was still just twilight and before the day of fissures bc he'd absolutely serenade her outside of her balcony window and make her embarrassed lol. anyway tcol is actually quite more melancholic than i like to let on LMAO--
CHARISSA / ALTAIR (status: canon!)
god the two of them have been through hell and back together and they're literally boss ass "you can't die for me because i will drag you back to life and kill you myself" vibes. their full backstory is very spoiler territory however, so unless y'all want the spoilers (which i'm always happy to give lmao) i can't say TOO much about what they've kind of been through together, however charissa's family is obsessed with altair and they are demanding to know when they will get together and provide them children and altair thinks this is the funniest shit in the world and proposes to her solely to piss her off when she takes him to introduce him to her family. they're very much a couple who never explicitly says they're together but then they buy a house, matching rings, move in together and are basically married in every sense of the word. charissa is more likely to deny it than altair lmao. they also turn everything into a competition and charissa is most likely to instigate but altair never backs down pff.

whats your favourite thing about each of the onk characters?
As a person with ADHD I am ontologically incapable of picking Just One Thing but I'll do my best!!
Ai: oh my god she melts my brain too much to pick just one thing!!! If you really put a gun to my head though I would have to say her warm, persistent kindness in the face of a life that has often been abnormally cruel to her. She always goes out of her way to be kind to people even when it has absolutely no benefit to her, just because Ai is a deeply kind person that even abuse and neglect couldn't tarnish. She understands loneliness and abandonment to such a deep degree that even when she can't exactly understand the ins and outs of why or how other people feel the way they feel, when she sees people suffering or in pain, her instinctive response is to reach out to them and try and make sure they feel heard even if she can't actually do anything to ease their pain. For all the BS she says about calling herself cynical, people hating and all the rest of it, Ai is such a deeply and actively kind person to such an incredible degree.
Also her fangies. Can't forget the fangies.
Aqua: Aqua Hoshino Is The Funniest Guy In Oshi No Ko And He Doesn't Even Know It. This sort of falls under the more serious header that is the cavernous gap between Aqua's stated goals and intentions and the reality of his actual feelings that often slips out via his actions but more specifically I'm obsessed with the hysterical comedic gap that is Aqua larping as Light Yagami during season 1 of Love Live. Like ugh yeah I have to kill my dad but what am I gonna do, NOT wear matching TWINS tshirts with my sister? Or shit like him being the one to go and get his copy of Sweet Today and start paging through it while Ruby and Miyako watch it and then immediately tattling to Kana that Ruby talked shit even though he toooootally doesn't care you guys :/// Mfer dressed up like a buff chicken and did a squeaky voice for a week because he can't handle having a crush on Kana!!! HE'S THE FUNNIEST GUY IN THIS WHOLE SHOW AND NOBODY UNDERSTANDS
Ruby: The way Ruby's history as Sarina - or I guess more specifically, as a person who grew up both disabled and under a toxic mother - informs her zest and energy is soooooo sweet and tender to me, but especially in the ways in informs her deep, deep love for Ai as her mother. The inheritance of Sarina's despair and its transition into Ruby's joy and empowerment is such an incredible and powerful beat - I watched episode 1 with a friend last night (hi Silvie!) and the scene of Ruby realizing that she no longer lives in a body at risk of betraying her at any moment and that she has a mother who loves her and values her happiness and positive growth over all else is still one of the most powerful scenes in the whole story for me. The way that realization of euphoria and power continues to form the foundations of her arc going forward is a big part of why the first stretch of the manga is still the strongest material to me.
Kana: my little failgirl <3 Kana is another one of those characters where I could say a lot of deep and introspective things about her incredible resilience, her intelligence and determination and the way she continues to try and make herself big in a world that has only ever operated by making her feel small but the truth in my heart is just that I think she is the funniest bitch on the planet. If Aqua did not exist she would take the crown as Funniest Character In Oshi No Ko. The consistency with which she takes Ls and gets fed her own hair emotionally speaking (UH AND LITERALLY I GUESS BECAUSE I WROTE THAT JOKE AND THEN REMEMBERED THAT SCENE WITH THE DIRECTOR) just really gets under my guard and makes me fucking lose it every time it happens. I'm a simple guy, ok?
Memcho: Mem being a woman in her early 20s and the perspective and emotional intelligence that comes with that experience, especially when contrasted with the teens, is soooooo fascinating to me. In general it's just really refreshing to see a girlie in her mid 20s in an anime still being portrayed as just as fun and cute and silly and energetic as the teens; anime in general has a really bad habit of having two ages which are Teen and Middle Aged Adult but Mem just feels like an actual person in her mid 20s which is SUCH a nice change. I also just think that, like I said, the way her emotional intelligence contrasts the kids who are still going the fuck through it as teens experiencing huge, fucked up emotions for the first time in their almost-adult lives; Mem's a lot smarter and sharper than folks give her credit for and it's always so interesting to see her snap into 'adult in the room' mode. The fact that this doesn't at all interfere with her friendship with Kana and Ruby is also really sweet - I actually do not remember ever seeing one of these age gap friendships in an anime that didn't come with some weird maternal overtones but the way B-Komachi's friendship kind of supersedes and makes their age gap a non-factor really reminds me of my own friendships like that - both when I was Ruby's age and had older folks looking out for me and now that I'm Mem's age and some of my besties from my real life DND group are babies LMFAO
Akane: The way OnK portrays Akane's acting technique is really fascinating to me! This is maybe a bit of a silly comparison to draw but I find that I weirdly relate to Akane and the way she portrays characters because I've been doing some form of online text roleplay or another since I was licherally 11 years old and the way she talks about like... sewing up internal inconsistencies and reverse engineering a character's thoughts, feelings and general worldview from their portrayed actions, making connections between aspects of their character that may be unstated by the text but make your portrayal cohere and feel richer and more vibrant. This is literally exactly the way I handle writing canon characters right down to the unhinged canon review, to the point that it is a running gag between me and my friends that Akane's serial killer ass Ai research session is Literally Just Me when I'm doing my Oshi no Ko canon review. It's about the weirdest and most unexpected way I have ever felt represented by a piece of media LOL
Miyako: The absolute character development W this woman had!!! Admittedly I feel like the glowup is only so strong because Aka clearly had a very different Miyako in his brain when he started writing Oshi no Ko vs the one she actually became but I still absolutely love the ways Miyako grows over the series and how smart, competent and fiercely driven she is when given a reason to motivate herself. I don't have a huge to to say about Miyako just because she so effortlessly speaks for herself but God I Love Her.
Ichigo: i just love it when a guy is a faildad to a fucked up teenage girl

hello i saw on ur twitter that you read alot and do you have some book recommendations? im open for anything
1 The Prince of Milk by Exurb1a = if you're like me and can't read any mr. gaiman books bc his writing style bores you to death then this might be for you. really fun cosmic horror/ scifi book. there's some gore, lots of death and a character who's been battling constant suicidal thoughts with several suicide attempts under her belt, so pls be careful
2 The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly = it's about the dark and twisted nature of fairytales, plays during WW 2 and covers difficult topics like loss and death. There's also some murdering and sick experimentation going on, like sewing a human's head on an animal's body etc.
3 Prosper's Demon by K. J. Parker = quick and fun read with an interesting take on exorcism and demon handling. loved the main character's interactions with the demons and how he solved his problems in the book lol
4 Afterlove by Tanya Byrne = sweet book about girls falling in love and then unapologetically staying in love for the rest of the book. srsly, they're so sweet :')
5 All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman = YA about teenagers killing each other in a blood tournament with an intersting magic system. pretty dark, lots of blood and injuries, actual death and, of course, feelings. funniest straight bait i've seen in a while, promising gay romance (not confirmed yet but it's hinted at and I hope we'll see it come true in the sequel). it's a bit of a pynch situation, just with more murder :)
6 The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern = it was recommended to me as a love letter to literature and it really didn't disappoint. one of my favorite books I've read this year. also gay with lovely characters and a stunning world, but has unfortunately one-dimensional and flat villains. it's literally about being gay and liking books (didn't like the pop culture references at the beginning but thankfully that stops after a few chapters)
7 Bunny by Mona Awad = AHHHHHHHH I LOVED IT SO MUCH. really, really, REALLY fucked up. I srsly don't recommend it if you don't like horror and gore and murder. feral women becoming even more feral, committing some actual atrocities most dark academia books don't dare to mention. the main character is bi. the book even made me tear up at the end bc of how it handles the topic of loneliness and despair
8 If We Were Villains by M. L. Rio = you probably witnessed me losing my mind over this book on twitter when i live-tweeted my reading journey. nothing has changed, i still think about this book daily. it's one of the books i'm gonna draw fanart for once i'm done with all of my exams. i can't put into words how much i love it, it makes up like 60% of my personality by now. oliver and james are the bitches i will still cry about in 30 years. the book has one of my favorite endings of all time tbh
9 The Secret History by Tonna Tartt = We've all read it. It's one of my favorites
10 Piranesi by Susanna Clark = it's one of those books you shouldn't know ANYTHING about when going itt, which makes it hard to recommend bc I refuse to say anything about it. If you like dark academia then maybe give it a try. I loved it a lot. it's weird but has a very special place in my heart. pls don't look up th plot. pls don't. srly
11 Wicker King by Kayla Ancrum = it has a really interestng fantasy concept i wish we would've seen more of. it's about two best friends becoming more and more obsessed with each other while losing themselves in their.... uh.. "game". really felt for them and their desperation to stay together
12 Horseman by Chhristina Henry = a dark retelling of the legend of sleepy hollow with a trans main character who i ADORE and still think about daily. again, lots of death and gruesome, gory scenes. really cool concept. have i mentioned that i love the main character? bc i really love him
13 Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro = if you're interested in scifi that's not a grand and overwhelming space opera than pls give this book a try. it's about AI and the appreciation of life, how do deal with sickness and destiny and loss without losing hope

Astarion Ancunin (Baldur's Gate 3) - getting the obvious one out of the way early. you put a character in front of me who gets mad at you for being good and kind because no one has ever been that to him, who is a bitch and that's a feature not a bug, and im not supposed to become deeply obsessed with that? he is everything. to me.
Gideon Nav (The Locked Tomb) - tamsyn muir WHEN will my wife come back from the war? Devotion even when you hate it. Being a weapon in more ways than even you are aware of. Love when you don't know what love is, really, getting it wrong and right at the same time. Gideon @ Harrow is just "its rotten work. especially to me especially if its you. i'll fucking do it but christ alive."
Murderbot (The Murderbot Diaries) - i think i am one of the only people who thinks that Murderbot is on the fem-presenting side of androgynous but i do think that and i'm right. I haven't read the latest book yet. Being forced to interrogate an in-between space, Murderbot's "dont look at me" in combination with vulnerability, the desire to cut and run and figure yourself out and then, like. not actually figuring yourself out much. did the running help? did escaping do anything? or should you have stayed?
Stede Bonnet (Our Flag Means Death) - Cringefail fuck-up pirate my beloved, i hate watching him do things it's like looking in a mirror. Theater kid playing dress up, steeped in self-doubt and trying to get everyone to talk about their feelings. In season one he looks at his own life and says "is anyone going to ruin this?" and doesn't wait for an answer. I want to kiss him in the moonlight. Every time I think about him I want to throw up. <3
Keyleth (Critical Role) - The weight of the world on her shoulders because she's been raised to lead her people, and all that simmering rage she tries to keep under wraps, and then she only gets a tiny bit of time with the person she loves before she has to live for years and years and years and watch everyone she cares about leave her. Archdruids with timeless body are an existential nightmare.
Alex Louis Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist) - okay listen. when i rewatched fmab in college, I was fully ready to fall in love with Riza. I was very surprised when I realized that it was not the badass with the gun I was fixated on, but the. big muscle-y guy who cries a lot and gets used for comic relief 60% of the time. but. im here. i love him. the ishval flashbacks got to me.
Blue (This is How You Lose the Time War) - Loving someone enough you're willing to let them close enough to kill you. The inherent rot beneath blooming things. Taking the slow path. Not leaving well enough alone. Love, but with teeth. I'm so normal about her (lying)
Cora Sabino (Noumena Series) - I wish I could tell everyone to read Axiom's End because I loved it, but I cant because the sequel fucked me up so bad. Its good! but god the atmosphere is so oppressive and Cora's struggle with depression is extremely real for an alternate history story that asks the question "what if we found out aliens were real during the bush administration?" I was legitimately unwell.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) - I just think he's the funniest guy with a laser sword. so repressed. had one of the most grey-jedi masters to ever do the damn thing. bitchy. the chosen one is his padawan. honestly he had to know anakin was sneaking out to canoodle with padme and just decided it wasn't his problem. calls himself fucking ben on the hell sand planet. why was he like that.
Spock (Star Trek) - this is the most "i just think he's neat" of all of them. i inherited this blorbo. this blorbo was handed down to me from my mom. he was hers first, im just picking up the torch. "guy who acts like he has no emotions but every seven years enters a fuck or die frenzy" im sorry but that's. that's too good. i have no choice but to rotate him in my mind.

ok, it doesn't look like anyone else asked, but i do want to know what your favorite jokes are (other than the genius crystal one)!!
A MILLION YEARS LATER and while i am drinking starbucks i have none to share, etc etc etc jokes.
and speaking of jokes (what a transition robert evans eat your heart out, shoutout to any other behind the bastards fans) here's another favorite on the list, since i've covered a couple since you sent this as i am wildly behind on asks, oops.
this time it's frenchie's response to stede trying to get everybody to say they'll talk it through as a crew.
(i feel like i read an interview with joel where he said that line was ad-lib, but i also might be entirely misremembering that. if i am not just making that up, as a writer sidenote i love how a lot of the improv moments seem to be done in the style of 'here's the basic thing going on, we will give you space on set to come up with the funniest version of it' nods from the writers. when you've got a cast like this let 'em rip, etc.)
frenchie has this cool thing going on where he's capable of both realistic codeswitching and what i am forced to call narrative codeswitching (mostly because i don't know what else to call it). if we attack things from the lens where ed and his crew switched metaphorical canons from gritty pirate drama to muppets, frenchie is the one who realizes that and asks ed if they're about to die instead of muppeting out about how cool it is that Thee Blackbeard is on their ship.
(in a fun beat since they're the other member of the crew ed keeps around, jim also identifies the potential of non-comedy stabbing but doesn't say anything about it until later, when frenchie has gone back into muppet mode and is nailing his sleeve to the deck.)
so: in order to codeswitch, you have to know how to speak your audience's language and hear what isn't being said. codeswitching is most often talked about in terms of literal language, but it doesn't stop there. behavior and piecing together what's going on behind the scenes nobody talks about are also part of it, because if you want to fit in you have to do what's expected of you; and in order to do that consistently, you have to understand what's expected of you.
whiiiich gets me to the actual joke and why it's even funnier coming from frenchie. because stede may tell other people to talk it through as a crew, but that's never his first move. stede tends to spill his guts when he's pushed into it; sometimes because somebody else went first, sometimes because intense circumstances and/or emotions overwhelm his instinct to lock everything down and insist he's fine.
stede does not talk it through as a crew. stede does backflips more than once to avoid talking things through with a variety of people over the season. stede bottles things up.
which is exactly what frenchie suggests stede wants them to do.
i should add that joel's delivery is great because this whole cast ringers all the way down, every goddamn person, but i'm obsessed with the way that takes a fun joke into a moment of telling us a lot about who frenchie is and what he's capable of, before we know anything else about him other than 'has a lute'.
he may not remember the rhyme, but he does know how to look past what people say to what they actually mean when that becomes necessary.
there's also a fun layer there where in-world we know frenchie learned the fine art of fancy people and their massive aggression because he was around them in a service capacity, so there's an in-world logic reason he is able to real world codeswitch between the world of Real Piracy and the world of aristocracy and think on his feet that echoes the thematic stuff working with the same theme on a more galaxy brain level.
i like this show a loooooot, the end.

ahh i hadnt checked my askbox in a few days so just saw this but thank you for asking anon i love you!!
her name is roisin cousland and she's been very fun to play so far bc i didn't have much of a vision for her at the start beyond "cousland who marries Alistair but has leliana as her mistress at the end". (also this picture - the source of which i cannot find its from pinterest - which made me go FUCK i need to start my cousland playthrough) so seeing the way she's been developing has been very fun.. she starts out as, while very capable and a talented warrior and seemingly cool under pressure, deeply privileged and frankly naive about the reality of the world. she sees no reason why she can't live a charmed life as a ladyknight and eventually a great lady in her own right!
of course this all comes crashing down in the most horrific way imaginable in her origin as she suddenly basically realizes that she has been in an entirely different genre than she believed. you thought this was chivalric romance? this is dark fantasy bitch! this fucked up world ate everyone she ever loved so she needs to bite back, and hard, before it eats her too. basically roisin is grappling -- and badly so -- with how brutal she needs to be survive in a world that is fundamentally unjust beyond anything she imagined. that's why she sides with the templars -- she doesn't want to see the mages hurt, but she saw horrors beyond comprehension in the tower and imagines that a response that echoes that same swiftness and brutality must be the only way to respond.
but at the same time she's still kind of naive and getting used to living outside of her nobility bubble.. funniest part of this playthrough was when they met bandits on the road and i realized she would not realize she was being robbed so she just earnestly paid their tax not realizing how weird it was or how expensive it was. (it's one highway tax, alistair, what could it cost? 500 silver?)
i'm still playing in relatively early stages of the game so I'm not totally sure where this is going from here, though i imagine she's going grow past this stage of her grief and understand that mercy and hope have their place as well (this is making me realize it might be cool to do the dalish quest last so making peace can be the conclusion to that arc... hmmm) but we shall see where it goes. right now I'm obsessed with her dynamic with zevran they make me laugh every time they talk because roisin only let him live bc she was fresh out of ostagar (s/o to zev asap mod) and having just witnessed a SECOND brutal betrayal with unimaginably bloody consequences, was really starting to settle into "the only way to save the world is to start REALLY playing dirty. even if it means working with this awful reprehensible assassin. i might need someone this morally bankrupt to win" but ofc as she very slowly begins to start talking to zevran she starts to realize that assassin = evil is not as simple as she thought and that she unfortunately sees a lot of herself in this guy that seems so different from her. so i think that's going to be an important friendship in how she ultimately grows
as for her and gilmore, they were childhood friends growing up, but i think their relationship is probably going to break down a bit as time goes on. I'm still getting to know him via the mod, but the impression i have right now is that he's still very idealistic despite what he went through in highever, and i think it's going to upset and frustrate him to see someone he loves coping with the same thing in such an opposite way, in the same way it's currently pissing off roisin that he isn't drawing the same conclusions about the world from their experience that she did

favourite character my taniel bias shines through it's tape i love tape. i think it's silly and i love that it's fucking annoying (affectionate) and the personality it has in canon is also just. extremely silly to me i love seeing the different tapes in the fandom too tape is just a species to me now. a genre of character even
second favourite character this is hard bc did you know that every day scissors hole punch and handaconda constantly fight for second favourite now that i can solidly say tape is my favourite. that is to say right now it's scissors i always thought scissors was silly. absolute fucking creature

favourite character ivy wings of fire i love you so much and i'm so sorry the fandom treats you and your debut book like trash just because you're a human in a dragon book series and i wish you were written better </3 i hope you know that ivy wings of fire was The glorpy of mine before i got into pmtok i had so many aus i'm still so normal about her i want her to be safe and happy and cherished that is all
second favourite character i'll be normal for once and say a dragon character in the dragon book series anyways it's some rando side character named boto. from what i remember he was silly rainforest dragon who just gave me the vibes of worlds shyest even if it was just him being nervous for the sake of plot. he appeared briefly in a few of the books and i think there was only one or two times he was properly called by name. i love this guy (my other pick for this that was more normal was winter he's one of the protags and i'm normal about him i wish he was written better)
least favourite character i was gonna say qibli but honestly i have more grievances with The Fandom's Characterization and Biases(tm) than qibli himself. and with humans like not even heath i genuinely hate i think it's fun to make fun of that guy and also i found that piece of shit interesting to write. but points at blue and cricket I Don't Like Them just by proxy of how i just. dislike how the third arc was handled getting into the specifics of those two would be its own whole essay just know i don't like them. ignoring those two bc it's a third arc thing tsunami annoys me

Tbh I think you are the only white loustat fan Ive seen here who is actually interested in louis as a character and not just an extension of lestat? Once you realize most of the fandom only sees louis as part of lestat's story it makes sense why there's little to no loumand content.
Let me talk about Louis. Let. Me. Talk. About. Louis.
I have been a Louis fan since I read Interview for the first time. I was....15 (?), maybe 16, and had finally convinced myself I could read Iwtv. (For those that don't know, Iwtv has been part of my life since I was born; I was named after Kirsten Dunst in the movie (my parents were raging Tom Cruise fans in the '90s, this is how that all happened) and so my whole life was 'being named from some vampire movie.' Problem? I hated blood growing up; couldn't look at it on a screen, couldn't think about it, made me nauseous. So as cool as vampires were, it took me time to read and watch it because 🤢).
Anyway.
So I read Interview, and I don't just read it, I devour it. I was obsessed. My mom had me on a book-buying ban so I couldn't buy anymore of the series, so I just reread Interview over and over again.
2-3 years later, I'm in college and have a little bit of money of my own, and I buy TVL and QotD. And -- and it took me forever to read TVL. It wasn't anything against Lestat necessarily, but 1) anyone that has read these books knows it's kind of like whiplash when you go to TVL and Lestat's narration is...well, Lestat lol and 2) I had fallen in love, long ago, with Louis' way of speaking.
But I eventually power through (and I love TVL. Arguably the best book of the series (???)). But then. Then I start getting into TotBT. And it's great! Lestat and Louis have some amazing moments and I adored so many parts of it, and it may be the general funniest book of the series. But also David is introduced and I could feel myself worrying.
Anyway, to make my relationship with book-Louis shorter, I struggled tremendously to read the rest of the series. Louis started getting mentioned less and less and less, and it became obvious for a time that he and Lestat were just. On different paths, as it seemed, and wouldn't really cross again and I was heartbroken and devastated. I missed Louis. I missed his outlooks and the way he and Lestat spoke to one another and his beauty and the way Lestat talked about him. The final "trilogy" of Prince Lestat was a godsend for me, personally, because it brought Louis back, it brought Louis and Lestat back, and it felt better, felt complete.
But! Show Louis.
So I followed the production of IwtV religiously for a while. Anne sold rights in 2016 and it seemed like it was happening! Then there was nothing for some time. I remember a vague 2019 article about it and, at that point, I was just in the "I'll believe it when I see it" category.
All of a sudden, it's happening before I even know it. And casting is announced. And I was -- so hesitant at both Sam and Jacob's casting. Sam because Lestat is such a character that I really was just like, "Can this man embody Lestat in the way Lestat should exist in this world?" (The answer is a resounding yes, x336548483929299485577838291038475747372272884) and with Jacob, I hadn't known of the time change yet and I was like....what are y'all doing?
Then I learned of the time change and I got nervous all over again because change is, y'know, sometimes scary when you know things. And Louis is everything to me and I was like, "Please do justice by him."
Oh. My. God.
There are a couple of things to mention here, namely the writing and Jacob's acting.
When it comes to the writing, I want to kiss anyone and everyone involved in developing Louis' story the way they did. Everything -- from his profession to his relationship with Paul and religion and sexuality and his mother and Grace and just -- everything, is so nuanced and beautiful and complex and having multiple episodes that showcase what all Louis really went through (both before and after being a vampire) and what he lost through all of it is just stunning. And it's one of those things that Louis' race, in particular, has made him such a better character because of what his struggles bring to the table. He is a queer black man, something that is not shown a ton in media, and he is a queer black man born into Jim Crow America, making a name for himself in a world that doesn't want him to succeed in any capacity. And he pushes and works because he's doing what's best by his family, even if they don't see it that way sometimes, and he endures because it's the only way to survive, and when vampirism comes in this box of a beautiful man promising him the world, he takes it, and yet he still tries to do good by his name, he still tries to be what he considers to be morally good. And he may be misguided on what good is, and he may be doing the wrong thing sometimes, but he is always trying. And I just think he's beautiful; both physically and emotionally beautiful.
I've found myself thinking so long and so hard on Louis' past; what his dad may have been like, what it was like being the oldest sibling and knowing he was one of the only ones that truly saw Paul and loved him, knowing that he could never be himself because queer and black and godly don't go together and just ! What was the Pointe du Lac household like when Louis started working in Storyville? What exact experiences, beyond Jonah, did Louis have with men? How many were good, were bad, were scary perhaps? Did he ever come close to an actual relationship or was he too busy saving his family and trying not to disappoint a god that wasn't there for him? What was it like when Paul was in the hospital in Jackson? Did Louis go see him and read to him, like when they were kids?
And now, in Louis' vampirism, how is he going to come to terms with his blood drinking? How exactly to we go from, what we can imagine to be, absolute suicidal devastation and emptiness after losing Claudia to the flirty enigmatic boy at the bar in the 1970s flashback? When will 2022!Louis fully break, and show us that LDPDL is still very much in there and full of that specific fight that drew Lestat to him in the first place?
And JACOB. I could never have asked for a better person to play Louis. He brings everything anyone could want to the table. He's Louis' beauty, he's Louis' quiet rage, he's Louis' tenderness, he's Louis' bookishness, he's Louis' love, he's Louis in every possible way. He brings such a complexity to Louis and, most importantly, he brings him to life. I cannot think of Louis now in any other capacity than Jacob Anderson. I am so grateful for him and for the work he's put in and the way his entire heart is in this role.
So, yes. I love Louis. I love Louis as a character all on his own because he's, quite literally, everything to me.

well here's ch. 97 chat, unhinged and unorganized
Amusingly I've said so crudely to Bird before "I'm sure Teru's like, blasted someone's little casper the friendly ghost friend while children sob and beg him to stop" gfdlg;dfkg I can't believe it would get drawn so directly, I love it though....! isn't this what so many kaii are... just some children's funny little guy..... I love it.... this miserable world....!
Ah the funniest part of the new chapter is Teru trying to be the noble cuck asserting "ah, you want to do this cuz of yashiro and no. 7 (:" *trying to keep my... expectations and understanding of your motivations realistic, grounded... I am of course in the corner of your mind only, graciously, my sweet Kou*..... he tries to be humble boy, he knows there is a discrepancy between his obsession with Kou/Tiara and Kou's life being filled with other things (Kou is not deprived class, it is Teru who is isolated and lazer-focused!) but Kou parlaying back that he does like Teru, too…. giving this brocon a crumb, hehe. Teru really feels like he can't begin to ask for more than the barest of scraps…. this chapter has the most endearing Teru, really feeling for this poor animal, lol. I feel for how he can't impose himself upon Kou at all, how *dog with tail between legs* it is to ask for more....
I like Teru 'giving in' to involving Kou, I can really feel him having lost some battle of will, the desire to do his noble sacrificial duty endlessly without asking anything of anyone else… I like his attachment to Kou and Tiara and his desperation to receive their attention. Very pathetic little creature. I enjoy how little of the weight of it Kou perceives, and even Teru admitting to it doesn't have nearly the impact for Kou as it does for Teru. This is really Teru admitting to being a cold lizard person without concern for anybody but his loved ones, devoid of motivation or purpose or interest…. the AIDAIRO STAPLE!!! It's just like Hanako and Akane. It's simple a fashion of romance.
Kou seems to put everything he ever hears through a kind of 'normify it' filter, I don't know how else to put it… one can try to be so emotionally nuanced and vulnerable, admit to deeper emotional crimes below the surface, and he just won't engage with it. Its like he distills it. I think he 'expects' Teru to be a 'normal' person still, he has this… base idea of 'normal' and, I don't think Kou can yet grasp how far from that Teru is…. the facade is just so grossly effective on Kou. I think if Hanako heard this speech, he'd understand a dozen more layers to it, and understand what a grave and severe concession it is for Teru, and how lowly it is to finally seek crumbs, ask for company, share the burden he's BEEN shouldering alone. Whats the matter, being dutiful eternally not working for you? Thats funny, I'm 50 years in to my eternal toil but, whatever lol, it's cute you can't really do anything with resolution …… WEAKER BROCON. (and your little brother is much less precious than mine). Hanako really is the 'biggest dog' in terms of commitment and fortitude, I understand why he looks down on Kou and Mitsuba respectively in Picture Perfect. I think he'd roll his eyes at this Teru, too…… pussyyyyyy lol.
Teru being so weak to even Kou just calling him like, names or something is like, sooo funny compared against Amane who was likely being tied up and flung around the room by Tsukasa, bruised and battered daily and forgiving it again and again with a smile…. there is a reason our title character is Hanako, he is such the ultimate version of every virtue Iro writes. WHATS THE MATTER, WON'T SUFFER FOR YOUR BELOVED? DON'T WANT THEM TO BE ~MEAN TO YOU? NEED TO ALWAYS BE BEST FRIENDS AND SOFT? ohhh pansy lol stupid Minamoto…

But isn't it funny to immediately go outside and see Mitsuba…. why do you always forget about any of this? How could learning to fire your musket at Hanako in case of emergency really be more forefront of your mind, than the person you're trying to SAVE, why do you think about exorcising before you think about rescue, as mental priority … always we just talk about smushing kaii so…. compulsively, with Kou. It's just some childhood dream he doesn't know how to let go of, even after so many exceptions. I get that he was drilled with propaganda, I just don't have to respect it. It's like his brain is weak and spongey and can't think for itself even this far in. You will STILL just grab your musket and be all rowdy ready to bangbang play cops and robbers for your cool brother. DUMB idiot. You deserve to have the emotional drop that is seeing MITSUBA, THE TRAGIC FIGURE. Don't you ever experience euphoria of being an exorcist ever again, your job SUCKS, this job is AWFUL. This isn't SPECIAL. Just a miserable job, one your bloodline can't escape. Your brother is as good as a slave here and you're itching to be enslaved too. WRONG response, wish you were trying to EXTRICATE Teru. Not JOIN him. You're going BACKWARDS!!!
I'm always pretty sad when Mitsuba is the one seeking out Kou first… he always is, he's the instigator between the two of them. So comical, isn't it? Other things always come first, for Kou… feel like Mitsuba is constantly left on read. Its like Kou's last message will be a declaration and then Mitsuba is still the one texting him first next week, just left staring at that chat window.
I dunno, I'm hoping Mitsuba ate Hakubo or something so awful LOL. This would be funny. I'm with Bird and hoping Tsukasa has fucked enough of the system up that we can exit the school. Even if not now I wish for eventually Hanako reading Nene's diary on her bed kicking his legs around. Wow what a little poet.... ♥

I dwelled on this for so long because I didn’t wanna give such an obvious answer…but it’s gotta be Pat. So courageous in embracing his identity and his feelings when it all finally clicks into place. So bold in the way he reaches out to Pran to share his feelings rather than folding in on himself and hiding. So loving in the way he always insists on helping Pran and never because he thinks Pran is helpless, but simply because he wants Pran to know that he doesn’t have to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders when he has someone by his side whose willing to share the burden. So happy, animated, and never afraid to look silly if it’ll make Pran smile. I mean really. How could I not love him as much as Pran does?

Wai. The show did its best to justify his actions but I never bought that bullshit. Outing your friend is atrocious enough but to subsequently make them feel like they’re the one who owes you an apology? Fuck that. Also, while we’re here…Pat’s dad can take a trip along with Wai. Apart from his atrocious behavior towards Pran’s mom and the toxic attitude with which he raised Pat, can we also just take a moment to remember how he was more concerned about Pran visiting Pat in the hospital than he was about his son being shot????

biggest disappointment?
I'm gonna have to agree w/ @eternallyasleep on this one. I had such high hopes for Gram in Not You but the show just completely dropped the ball with his characterization, storyline, and relationship with Black. Riffing off that, I was also insanely disappointed with the show's (& the gang's) treatment of Black's character. Let's not even get started on the story itself. They could've done so much w/it but it left me wanting and w/many unanswered questions.
