"Orphan boy sucker" I think it's pretty heavily implied that bruce is bisexual in Btk.

There are only two times bruce's heart is referred to as "broken" in the series, once during his parents death by zatanna:

And another time he admits so himself in that heart wrenching of a page in which he wakes up alone after his fight with Minhkhoa-

There is clearly more than just "friendship here" and I mean this seriously.

Bruce has had only Anton as his only company for the years he trained, he intended to walk this road alone. If you're someone new to the Ghostbat fandom I highly recommend reading this because it is FILLED with homoerotic subtext that is undeniable from a outside perspective.

The second time it's acknowledged that Minhkhoa broke bruce's heart, This time by a third party instead of himself.

Still concerned for Minhkhoa's wellbeing despite everything. Despite the fact he was screaming bloody murder at him as he was bleeding out on the phone not few hours ago.

Forcing himself to forget what anton did and hoping to hold on longer despite them both knowing whatever they have will fall apart.

Bruce was clearly hoping for a future with Minhkhoa as well, maybe he assumed they would continue to work together under Ra's and take him down TOGETHER.

Again this could just be me overthinking things as we're all starved for content but it's still a sad thought that bruce had the same hopes of them against the world only for it to fall apart because they're both stubborn and stick to their ideals.

Compile that with this and it makes it all the lot more painful. They both wanted to eradicate crime together but still had very different ideas of their future together.

Bruce hoped minhkhoa would see his view and stop killing,see his set of ideals. He assumes minhkhoa's apathy will be his downfall

Minhkhoa believes Bruce's empathy will be his downfall, the fact that he cares too much and makes things personal.

This is clearly bruce's saviour complex speaking, he's attached to a version of Minhkhoa that was half fake, he still thinks there's a way he can "fix" minhkhoa or change his ways, the whole reason he seeks out Dr.Capito is to better understand and be like minhkhoa.

Minhkhoa does the same in the main batman run by seeking out scarecrow to understand Bruce's fear and his drive.

The two despite being stubborn always try to seek out ways in which they could reconcile or form a better truce that doesn't involve them never seeing each other again.

Just a thought.

the pathologic Kin is largely fictionalized with a created language that takes from multiple sources to be its own, a cosmogony & spirituality that does not correlate to the faiths (mostly Tengrist & Buddhist) practiced by the peoples it takes inspirations from, has customs, mores and roles invented for the purposes of the game, and even just a style of dress that does not resemble any of these peoples', but it is fascinating looking into specifically to me the sigils and see where they come from... watch this:

P2 Layers glyphs take from the mongolian script:

while the in-game words for Blood, Bones and Nerves are mongolian directly, it is interesting to note that their glyphs do not have a phonetic affiliation to the words (ex. the "Yas" layer of Bones having for glyph the equivalent of the letter F, the "Medrel" layer of Nerves having a glyph the equivalent of the letter È,...)

the leatherworks on the Kayura models', with their uses of angles and extending lines, remind me of the Phags Pa Script (used for Tibetan, Mongolian, Chineses, Uyghur language, and others)

some of the sigils also look either in part or fully inspired by Phags Pa script letters...

some look closer to the mongolian or vagindra (buryat) script

looking at the Herb Brides & their concept art, we can see bodypainting that looks like vertical buryat or mongolian script (oh hi (crossed out: Mark) Phags Pa script):

Sorry anon... All I can offer are some rancher fics since I combed all the way through that tag awhile back (I'll read more Jimmy fics in time I prommy):

"those were kinder times" by SurrealSupernaturalist - 10k words of ranchers doing rancher things. Light angst, mostly fluff and hurt/comfort as Jimmy's healing, and the agriculture elements in this were absolutely encapsulating. Cozy ranch life...

dull&slow by canarydarity (AO3)- The ranchers are arguing for 6k words and it hurts a lot but it's very well written

strawberry wine (and all the time we used to have) by canarydarity - 2k oneshot that nails the vibes of "peaceful insignificance". It's comforting and I enjoy Tango's introspection a lot

to build a home by pastelitey - Series of mostly fluffy scenarios after the ranch gets burnt down, 10k words. There's a few moments within here that made me feel a lot of things though

#I read many many rancher fix all the way through but unfortunately I'm picky and #I cannot stand certain story beats or ideas or unusual writing style choices. Don't think about bugs always having a mandatory love interest and how that affects daffy. Don't think about it. Don't think about how one second daffy is spending the night bantering and joking with bugs, eating the dinner he knows is made for him and him only. Reveling in the fact that bugs was expecting, anticipating, if not, then maybe even hoping that daffy will show up and bugs *prepared* a dinner for him. And then the other second having to look at every single piece of merchandise and media pushing this picture perfect relationship of Bugs and Lola. Don't think about how Daffy had to sit through each and every love interest that bugs had. Whether that's honey bunny or Penelope or currently, Lola. How he watched as bugs allegedly, "fell in love" with them, as far as the audience knows. And don't think about how, maybe somewhere in the haze, he started to doubt bugs himself. What if he *did* fall in love and everything daffy sees is just a delusion? What if all they've been through is just that. A circumstance. What if the mandatory love interest is more? More than they ever were?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Daffy isn't ever going to be some one who bugs is in love with. And that has nothing to do with bugs' feelings, no, it's just how the universe works. They weren't meant to be, not in the official sense.

Something something about Buck and learning and or teaching.

Something something about Buck teaching when he really needed to be learning.

I just keep thinking about how the show has increasingly - especially last season - put Buck into the role of 'teacher' - including his coma dream. (i'm using teacher for the lack of a better term!) and how in the aftermath of the coma dream - he's been trying to teach but it hasn't worked - instead he's been learning.

I've been musing on the fact that even back in season 1 Buck has been in a teacher role -

Abby learning to chose herself and go for her happiness,

Bobby learning to let people in and Buck being a major part of that because of their developing father-son type relationship

'teaching' Eddie that he could rely on other people for help

Maddie learning at Bucks hand that she didn't need to keep running, that she could lean on him for support and build a new life for herself

Ravi being tutored by Buck in the fire house

even Lucy being given advice by Buck - teaching her through his own experiences in dumb luck

Buck making himself into a teacher in his coma dream and the idea that all these people he has helped teach teaching him that he has a place with them and that he is important

and so many more examples through the seasons that I won't list or I'd be here forever!

Because there has been a lot of emphasis on teaching and learning since Buck woke up from his coma - he learnt he was good at maths, but then wasn't allowed to help Chris with his maths homework because it would be cheating.

used his maths skills to win at Poker - but got taught lessons even in victory - rather than teaching others lessons (whatever they might have been)

Natalia being interested in him because he could teach her about death and things going south pretty quickly when it became evident that Buck needed to learn how to live again rather than be stuck in death

And now we've had several mentions by Tommy of him teaching Buck things - teaching him to fly, teaching him Mauy Thai, all the way to him being his bi awakening is teaching him about a part of himself he didn't know. Things are turned on their head - Buck is the student not the master now

Even with Eddie this season, we've seen him teaching Buck things - rather than Eddie learning from him - Eddie handing over this really important thing going on with Chris - Eddie knowing that Buck would be a better option - that Chris would open up to him more - is teaching Buck about his importance in the Diaz family - re-enforcing that he is part of their life. Its also Eddie who has had the good advice for Buck this time rather than the other way round.

Something something about 'you like to be the guy with the answers' to Buck becoming the guy with the (maths) answers - only for it to fade away and now he's having to learn

Something something about the tie to Buck and death and the resurrection and how Christ was the teacher up to and immediately after his death and resurrection when he left others on earth to spread his teachings and he ascended to learn at the right hand of god

Something something about how that is the key to happiness and that is what Buck has figured out and that is why his journey to figuring that out has had him wearing the bright blue - because in Christianity - that shade of blue is the colour of the kingdom of heaven (because it is the colour of the sky!) so putting Buck in it at all these key markers of his journey is showing him as being on the road to ascension.

This post is a mess - I don't even know what it is any more! I started with one idea about teaching and Tommy and then more kept coming and we ended up here!!!!

#I know technically that they all teach and learn from each other and that others were also involved in these scenes #but I'm just interested in the fact that the tables have now been turned on Buck specifically and he is now the student #I think thats interesting as a character study - Buck who learnt to survive on his own and teach himself now getting to go back to learning #look here I am - atheist me blabbering on about religious symbolism around Buck once again!!!#Im fascinated in it though - especially in relation to Eddies catholic guilt and the way that the show is using much more #scientific symbolism around him - hearts and guts and the mind - all working organs (or groups of organs)#that have these metaphorical and intuitive attributes attached to them #but all have important real world functions that a human need to survive #and the fact that we've got Buck to this point of 'ascension' and Eddie effectively working on the last of the three - the gut #well I think that is pretty telling - once Eddie has his gut under control/ worked out (catholic guilt) then he will be in a position to #'ascend' as well.#and don't even get me started on the triangle symbolisim within all of this - the holy trinity and the trifecta of heart mind and gut #because they are playing into the triangles this season - literally every where!!!#I feel like at this point if they put Buck in purple (esp if hes wearing it when buddie go canon) - the holiest of colours and #one associated with magic -then I will be the one ascending - because that would be the ultimate #this show is insane!!#it makes me insane - I'm insane!!#evan buckley #eddie diaz #911 abc #911 meta

"We can't kill this woman, she's astounding" -- I couldn't agree more with what was said of Sylvia by Mr Hayter himself after the revelation that they were going to kill Superion off. Wow.

Then again, this ties in with one of the many things I eventually want to talk about concerning what the show did or didn't do with its older cast and it's very interesting to see that... The older characters really were in peril and escaped death thanks to decisions made in the writers' room later on, mostly because they liked the actors so much. Narratively speaking, within the genre, it was very likely we'd see them go and these comments by one of the writers confirm it.

Good thing the show really didn't care about sticking to the conventional!

i saw the tags you put on the mongolian tea video and i'm mega intrigued (i love hearing about food from other cultures!!): googling rondijzhu yields no results, and laghman comes up as a type of noodle dish? would you mind talking a bit abt the breakfast from chitral? :D

@albertinesimonet I'm so, so, so sorry for how long it's taken me to answer this 😭 University's been hell, I really want to give this answer the detail it deserves, so I hope you can forgive the fact that it's, like, a month late.

Anyway! I'm so happy someone on Tumblr's taken interest in my tiny river-valley hometown! This entire answer is going to function as me gushing about it now lol. Some context on what I'm about to say is that while Chitral is in Pakistan, it's in the far, far north of it, bordering the Tajik-majority area of Afghanistan and very, very close to Tajikistan. So while Chitral is, through borders, considered part of South Asia, its culture and cuisine is much more similar to more Central Asian ones.

Another thing worth mentioning is that 'Chitral' itself is a bit of a catch-all term for the general part of Pakistan that speaks a language called 'Khowar' and its dialects, not taking into account the fact that the cultures within the Chitral district vary wildly based on where exactly in the mountains you are. Just saying that so you know to take what I say with a grain of salt, and just know that it's applicable to a specific part in this specific region of the district (think somewhere in the green portion on the map below).

With that said, breakfast in Chitral can be anything, as long as it's hearty! People generally don't have a solid 'lunch', as midday is the best time to get outdoor work done, so big breakfasts are the norm. In summer, it's butter tea (tea with butter and salt boiled into the milk) with dried fruits (I'm a fan of apricots, but dried grapes, peaches and assorted berries are common too) and Chitrali bread (which is very, very thick; I think some people call it tikki but we've just always called it 'Chitrali bread' lol), usually with cottage cheese. You can stuff the Chitrali bread with minced meat (goat or lamb, mostly), cottage cheese or milk curds too!

Winter, though, is where breakfast becomes key, and which is where the foods you asked about come in– in summer, at least, the weather is better so you do have time to eat in the afternoon, but in winter? No chance. In Chitral, winter breakfasts are massive, warm and hearty as hell. Salty butter tea is still a must, coupled with Chitrali bread which, in winter, is usually stuffed. A lot of people choose to add milk curds into the tea, but I never liked doing that, so. Rip.

Other people add dried rondijzhu (which is a very, very rough Anglicisation of a Khowar word so I'm not surprised nothing came up when you Googled it!) to their tea too. Rondijzhu, which is also served generally at breakfast in the winters, is basically just portions of spit-roasted lamb or goat that are really, really heavily salted (Chitral isn't the place to go if you have cholesterol issues) to make sure they last. A lot of people take aside parts of the freshly spit-roasted meat to slice it up into little chunks and dry it seperately to the rest of the rondijzhu, so they can use it as stuffing, in tea, in mantu (steamed dumplings– pretty similar to Chinese bao!), et cetera.

Another use for rondijzhu, and a way to heat it up for breakfast, is by boiling it with khalli, or laghman (they're both the same thing– we call it laghman but I know people in the vicinity of Chitral city call it khalli). It is indeed a type of noodle dish! It's basically just soft wheat noodle soup cooked with usually either minced meat or chunks of mutton or beef and a shitton of herbs. It's more on the brothy side, and so is super warming, especially when served alongside Chitrali bread. Something people (or, at least, we) tend to do is, when boiling the wheat noodles that were cut the night before for the morning laghman, adding rondijzhu to the noodles. This both warms up the rondijzhu and acts kind-of like stock for the laghman broth. You can take the rondijzhu out and eat is seperately, or keep it in the laghman, your choice (I personally prefer having it seperately, but I'm a picky eater by mountain village standards).

That said, laghman isn't strictly a breakfast food. Hell, none of these are. Chitrali bread is eaten with salty butter tea in the afternoon, laghman and rondijzhu are eaten for dinner too, and a lot of other Chitrali food that I haven't mentioned (like harisa, which we stole from the Armenians, or pilau or any variation of taaw meat– meat cooked on a gridle– et cetera) can also work as 'breakfast' food. As long as it fills you up, keeps you warm, and allows you to not die of various vitamin deficiencies, it's perfect as Chitrali breakfast or dinner.

tl;dr: breakfast is a social construct and, in Chitral, food is food no matter what time of the day it is 💖

Mini-Updates!

HI EVERYONE \o/

Just letting you know I finished another chapter of Nemesis, and I'll be posting it as soon as possible ^^

As you guys know, I've been struggling with my health and the whole system. I've been visiting lawyers, screaming at my health insurance, and figuring out what to do. I've had a few days also I could barely get out of bed 'cause my body was giving out and that's new, to be honest. So, I'm doing what I can with the time I have energy to work - it might not be as fast as I want, but hey, it's something at least.

On a side note, I'm trying to get an original story of mine "out of paper". There's a guy I follow on Youtube and he divised the "Alphabet Superset" which is basically for creatives (any sort of art!) to create and post their work every week.

So I'm trying to every week make an illustration related to this novel I'm writing - called, for now, Nyx Protocol, a cyberpunk thing - and post on instagram.

More power to anyone drawing dragons (or drawing, period) but I REALLY wish more creativity went into dragon design so much of the time! So often I see just one or two generic bodytypes and that's it, like a generic serpentine asian dragon, or a very cut-and-dry western dragon that looks more like the starting template for a dragon rather than a dragon. But it's dragons!! You can get so crazy and fantastical!!! This is true for character design in general ofc but go crazy!! Personality and recognition comes from the shape, the silhouette, not just some interchangable details on one generic base!

Again, absolutely not shaming anyone, but it is so much fun to go a little wild. Art is all about creativity so I hope more people can embrace that and have fun with it!!
